THE BACK UP CAMERA DOES NOT OPERATE WHEN THE WEATHER IS VERY COLD AND THE CAR HAS NOT WARMED UP. THE CAMERA DOES NOT COME ON AT ALL WHEN BACKING UP. I TOOK CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SHOWED THEM PHOTOS FROM THE LAST 2 OCCURRENCES, SO DEALER KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT BUT CLAIMED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND THAT NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES WERE SEEN. I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE THAT THE CAMERA IS MALFUNCTIONING, BUT YET THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE SINCE THEY CLAIM FORD WILL NOT ALLOW THEM. IF THE BACKUP CAMERA IS A SAFETY FEATURE, THEN WHY AREN'T THEY CORRECTING THE PROBLEM? IT FAILED AGAIN THE FOLLOWING MORNING AFTER I HAD IT AT THE DEALER.
FRONT BRAKE LINES DAMAGE AND NOW THE BACK BRAKE LINES DAMAGE THE SAME WAY FRONT WAS.NO NO INDICATOR THAT' THIS HAPPENS, THE BREAKS JUST GO TO THE FLOOR, HUGE SAFETY ISSUES.
On my 2017 Edge, the brakes "grab" rather than stopping smoothly. This winter, driving on snow covered roads, you couldn't slow up approaching a stop light without the ABS system coming into play. There was no gentle way of stopping the car. Tapping the brakes is like a "panic" stop with a regular vehicle. Ford has replaced the Brake Booster on 2015-2016 models but not 2017. Refer to TSB# SSM-45857.
Both rear tires have what our Ford dealer called "unusual tread wear." The tires are under a 50,000 mile warranty; however, Hankook has refused to honor the prorated replacement tires covered by their warranty. Furthermore, Hankook has been aware for several years this particular model of tires has odd tread issues, yet they continue to put their defective and dangerous product out on the road. The specific tire is the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 245/50%20 102V Multiple attempts have been made to have Hankook uphold their warranty without success. Clearly they will not voluntarily recall this product. The public needs to be made aware of what they are driving on. NOTE: There is no specific date of incident, as this is an on-going issue. I RECEIVED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 83,300 MILES WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH FOR HALF A MILE. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P0303 WAS SHOWN AND COOLANT WAS OBSERVED IN THE CYLINDER BY THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP. NEW ENGINE RECOMMENDED BY REPAIR SHOP REFERRING TO TSB 19-2346.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was applied however, was slow to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who stated that the parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.
I got in a accident on 12/24/2020. Certain features did not work to aware me of an collision. The car was totaled and my life changed due the injuries I sustained. Then I got recall information for this car and another I purchased a month or two after around February or March.
CAR HAS 69,000 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON. WAS TOLD A NEW ENGINE IS NEEDED BECAUSE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDERS. THOUSANDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINT AND NOW WE ARE TOLD WE NEED A NEW ENGINE ON A CAR THAT IS BARELY THREE YEARS OLD AND OF COURSE OUT OF WARRANTY. WHY HAS NOT ONE THING BEEN DONE TO RESOLVE THIS WITH FORD. HAD WE KNOWN WE WERE BUYING A LEMON WE WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS VECHICLE. FORD KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT THEY PUT OUT ON THE MARKET. WE HAVE NO RECOURSE HERE AND WHAT FORD HAS DONE BORDERS ON ILLEGAL TO HAVE A KNOWN PROBEM WITH NO RECOURSE FOR THE CONSUMERS.
MY VEHICLE HAS A CRACKED FLYWHEEL WHICH IS UNDER RECALL ON MOST 2017 EDGE VEHICLES. HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL SO I AM NOW PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR IT TO BE FIXED.
CAR ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON WITH ONLY 48K MILES AND FORD STATED MY CAR NEEDS A NEW ENGINE DUE TO BEING IMPROPERLY MADE AND COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE.
ON 12/12/2020 I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 25 MPH WHEN MY LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY BRAKED TO GET OFF THE MAIN ROAD. MY CAR DID NOT SLOW DOWN ENOUGH AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. I HIT A CURB, POPPED MY FRONT TIRE AND MY CAR FINALLY STOPPED. UPON INSPECTION BY AAA, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LINE WAS LEAKING. CAR WAS TOWED HOME. ON MONDAY 12/14/2020, I SPOKE WITH FORD WHO TOWED MY 2017 FORD EDGE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THE LETTER I RECEIVED IN SEPT. 2020 STATED THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE CAR. FORD WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THE PART CAME IN - APPROX. Q1 2021. AT THIS POINT, I'M WITHOUT A CAR AND COULD HAVE INJURED MYSELF, SISTER AND 3 KIDS BECAUSE AN ISSUE FORD IS AWARE OF AND HAS NO ESTIMATED DATE TO FIX.

THE CONTACT CALLED FREMONT FORD, INC. (7148 W 48TH ST, FREMONT, MI 49412, (231) 924-3200) WHERE THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INTEGRITY AUTO (1031 9TH AVENUE SE WATERTOWN, SD 57201, (605) 878-2277 TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS FRACTURED. THIS CAUSED WATER TO LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD CAUSING A MISFIRE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHEN DEALER DIAGNOSIS THIS PROBLEM BY CHANGING THE SPARK PLUG AND COIL PACK ON THE #2 OR #3 CYLINDER WOULD HELP RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.*DT*JB
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MAY 2019 WITH 43K MILES, STILL UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IN NOVEMBER 2020 I NOTICED THE VEHICLE MISFIRING DURING STARTUP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER HAVING MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSIS, IT IS THE ISSUE OF COOLANT LEAKING INTO CYLINDER #4 AND THE ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED. IT NOW HAS 70K MILES SO IT IS OUT OF POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENDED ISSUE AS REPORTED BY FORD INNITIALLY IN THEIR TSB 19-2172. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSES SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE AND SHOULD BE RECALL UNDER EVERY REASONABLE CIRCUMSTANCE.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM, AND WHEN IT'S RAINING AT NIGHT, IT IS ALMOST TOO DIM TO DRIVE SAFELY. THE HIGH BEAMS WORK FINE, BUT THE LOW BEAMS ARE TOO DIM TO BE EFFECTIVE.
The flex plate cracked. They had to remove the transmission and replace the flex plate bolts.
FRST NOTICED IN NOVEMBER THE CAR WOULD NOT GENERATE HEAT WHILE AT IDLE. THIS PREVENTED DEFROSTING OF WINDSHIELD. NOTICED HEAT WOULD RETURN AT HIGHER REVS, BUT THIS ALSO DECREASED. NOTICED FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW ADDED ANTIFREEZE AND HEAT RETURNED SOMEWHAT BUT NOT AT IDLE. CAR HAS 36,200 MILES, JUST OFF WARRANTY. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD SINCE DRIVINGIN WINTER REQUIRES A FUNCTIONING DEFROSTER. LOCAL MECHANIC NOTED THAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR MISFIRE OF CYLINDER #1 INDICATED A HEAD GASKET LEAK WHICH WAS WHERE MY COOLANT WAS DISAPPEARING. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF OUTWARD LEAKS, OR A ODER OF COOLANT IN THE CABIN FROM THE HEAT CORE. IT IS NOW JANUARY, AND I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO LACK OF HEAT AND RISK OF DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. EMAILED MY DEALER, BUT AS OF YET NO RESPONSE.
I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A STOP SIGN ACROSS TWO LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WHEN I WAS CLEAR I PRESSED THE GAS AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MOVE. PRIOR TO CLEARING THE TWO LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THIS LEFT ME SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. I WAS NOT HIT THANKFULLY BUT THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS ISSUE IN ANOTHER SITUATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE CAR STALLING BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WHERE THE SITUATION LEFT ME IN DANGER. THIS STALLING IS DUE TO A MISFIRING CYLINDER BECAUSE ENGINE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. FORD HAS STATED THAT THE LONG BLOCK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $9,000. AS THE PROBLEM OCCURRED RIGHT AFTER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY ENDED, THEY REFUSE TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE DESPITE THE ISSUE BEING A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. SOONER OR LATER SOMEONE WILL BE HURT OR POSSIBLY KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE DYING TO GET A JUSTIFIABLE RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM?
VEHICLE BEGAN TO IDLE ROUGHLY UPON COLD START, AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT WOULD IDLE NORMALLY. AFTER A FEW WEEKS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE THEY RECEIVE A NEW ENGINE. WE WERE NOT OFFERED A LOANER VEHICLE, WE HAD TO ASK FOR A LOANER VEHICLE. OUR VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, APPARENTLY THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A COOLANT LEAK INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDER. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. MOST PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MADE TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THIS ENGINE REPLACEMENT. WE HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND, SO FAR, HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD WE WILL BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR REPAIR. FORD HAS NOT RECOGNIZED THIS AS AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE CATEGORIZED AS A RECALL, THUS LEAVING PEOPLE WITH A LARGE REPAIR BILL. THE ENGINE DESIGN OBVIOUSLY HAVE A DEFECT THAT SHOULD NECESSITATE A FORMAL RECALL.
AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR JUST OVER A YEAR, WITH 61K MILES, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND THAT THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE BUT AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THIS MODEL. FORD HAS SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT UNTIL A RECALL IS ISSUED WITH MY VEHICLE BEING 1K MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. OTHERS HAVE STATED THAT FORD SERVICE HAS ADMITTED THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF COMPLAINT AND REPAIRS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I AM UNABLE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE AND MY FAMILIES SAFETY IS AT RISK. WHILE DRIVING, CODE SAYS "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" AND SPUTTERING/POWER LOSS ON ROAD. TURNED CAR OFF AND STARTED AGAIN, BARELY MADE IT 1/2 MILE HOME. WAITED 2 DAYS BUT CODE SHOWED IMMEDIATELY WHEN STARTING CAR. ENGINE REVS AND SPUTTERS, BARELY ENOUGH POWER TO PULL OUT OF GARAGE. MANUAL TRANSMISSION SO I CANNOT TURN OFF HILL START ASSIST.
I PURCHASED FORD EDGE 2017 OCTOBER 2020 ACCEPTING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BREAK LINES. I DIDN'T EXPECT OVER 6 MONTHS LATER TO STILL BE DRIVING A CAR WHICH COULD HAVE A BREAK FAILURE. I DRIVE MY GRANDCHILDREN A LOT. THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE FIX. CONTACTED DEALER, THEY FILED MY CASE WITH FORD, BUT STILL NO RESOLUTION. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
WHEN TURNING THE CAR ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR IDLED ROUGH AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND THE CODE WAS FOR A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. MECHANIC CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND CLEARED THE CODE. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND THAT THE LONG BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 64,000 MILES. WITH THIS PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE ACCELERATION DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT AND THE CAR SHAKES. THIS PROBLEM IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK AT THE SITUATION AND DO THE RIGHT THING. THE FORD EDGE IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN DESIGN.
ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED DUE TO LEAKING COOLANT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BY FORD. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS A KNOW PROBLEM.

COOLANT LEAKING INTO #1 CYLINDER CAUSING ROUGH IDLE AT START-UP AND MISFIRE DTC. TSB ISSUED BY MANUFACTURER TO REPLACE LONG BLOCK, BUT NO RECALL OR COMPENSATION FOR REPAIR.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact’s wife stated that while reversing out of a parking spot, the vehicle began to violently shake. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V390000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
2017 FORD EDGE WITH 65,000 MILES. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A DAY AND THEN WENT OFF FOR ABOUT A WEEK UNTIL IT APPEARED AGAIN. CAR STARTED ROUGH FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS( LIKE A COLD MORNING) AND THEN RAN FINE. BATTERY FAILED, DURING REPLACEMENT TURNED CAR ON TO MAKE SURE BATTERY WORKING FINE AND WHITE SMOKE POURED OUT OF EXHAUST PIPE .HAD CAR TOWED TO MY AUTO REPAIR SHOP. CYLINDER #2 FAILURE. COOLANT LEAKED INTO ENGINE. ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED. IT'S A 2L ENGINE. FORD HAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT HAS HAD A MULTITUDE OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS. THE EDGE WAS MY FIRST FORD CAR, TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTING AND NOW I AM EXPECTED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE NEW ENGINE WHICH WILL RUN ABOUT $8K-$9K. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP SOON.
DRIVE SHAFT VEHICLE PULL BACK ON ACCELERATION
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SPENT 500 DOLLARS TO HAVE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COIL REPLACED. THEN NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS LATER CHECK ENGINE IS ON AGAIN SAME ISSUE AGAIN. APPARENTLY BREAK FLUID IS LEAKING DUE TO A RECALL, BUT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK FOR WHAT WAS FIXED DUE TO IT BEING THERE PROBLEM.
TURNED VEHICLE ON FROM STATIONARY POSITION ,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, VEHICLE SPUTTERING TO STAY ON. DIAGNOSED WITH CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE AN UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF TIMES. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT ANTI-FREEZE WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED ENGINE UNDER WARRANTY AT 75,000 MILES. PICKED UP VEHICLE FROM DEALERSHIP, WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE CUT OFF AT 60 MILES AN HOUR AND THEN TURNED BACK ON. VEHICLE BACK AT DEALER BY TOW TRUCK (11/3/2020).
ALERTS THAT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE IS TOO HIGH. MAKES SMOKE COME FROM THE HOOD. COUNTLESS BOTTLES OF ANTIFREEZE JUST RUN THROUGH IT. IT CAUSES THE WHOLE CAR TO JUST SHUT OFF FROM THE HEAT WHILE IN MOTION.
2017 EDGE CODES CAME ON FOR TORQUE CONVERTER NOT LOCKING UP TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ( GREEN FORD OF GAINESVILLE GA. ) WAS INFORMED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND FRON PUMP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS 69,000 MILES ON IT THEY WOULD NOT HELP US WITH THE FACTORY. SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. WE CALLED FORD DIRECTLY AND COULD NOT GET ANYONE TO HELP US. $3020.00 FOR REPAIRS, THEY WILL NOT HELP IN ANY WAY. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. IT WILL BE THE LAST VEHICLE WE WILL EVER BUY FROM FORD. THIS IS A SAD WAY TO TREAT A LOYAL CUSTOMER ON A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. IF YOU ARE OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK.
2017 FORD EDGE WITH THE 2.0L ENGINE FAILED AT 73,143 MILES DUE TO COOLANT IN THE CYLINDERS. ORIGINAL CODE WAS A P0301 FOR MISS IN CYLINDER NUMBER ONE. REPLACED PLUGS AND COILS WITH OE FROM DEALER AND PROBLEM PERSISTED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND ENGINE VIBRATION OCCURRED WHILE RUNNING AT IDLE. THERE WAS NO SMOKE EVER FROM THE EXHAUST. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY NOTED LOW COOLANT EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NEVER AN OVERHEAT ISSUE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR CODE STORED. DEALER REFERENCED TSB 19-2346 AND SAID ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL FORD WOULD ASSUME ZERO COST. STILL OWING MONEY ON THE CAR THERE WAS NO OTHER OPTION OTHER THAN REPLACE THE ENGINE AT A COST OF $7000. GIVEN WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE FREQUENCY OF THIS SPECIFIC FAILURE COUPLED WITH THE WIDE RANGE OF MILES WHEN IT OCCURS FORD SHOULD STEP UP AND AT LEAST PARTNER WITH OWNERS TO HELP WITH THE COST OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT OR FATALITY DEPENDING UPON WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED OR WENT INTO LIMP MODE.
IN APRIL 2020, THE PASSENGER FRONT BRAKE LINE BURST AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT GOING FAST AND NO CARS WERE COMING SO I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE BY TURNING RIGHT AND GOING UP ANOTHER SMALL HILL. WE REPLACED THAT LINE OURSELVES. IN AUGUST 2020, THE DRIVER FRONT BRAKE LINE BURST IN A PARKING LOT AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PARK. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP. FORD HAD JUST ISSUED A NOTICE OF RECALL FOR THE FRONT BRAKE LINES SO I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN SHAWNEE, KS. THEY REPLACED THE LINE WITH A TEMPORARY BRAKE LONE AS THEY DID NOT HAVE THE RECALL PART IN. IN OCTOBER 2020, THE REAR PASSENGER BRAKE LINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO START THE CAR, THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SURE ENOUGH, I HAD BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER BRAKE LINE. BECAUSE THE RECALL ONLY COVERED THE FRONT BRAKE LINES, WE REPLACED THE RUPTURED LINE AS WELL AS THE ONLY BRAKE LINE THAT HAD NOT RUPTURED. WE FIGURED IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THAT ONE BURST, TOO. I HAVE ATTACHED A PICTURE OF THE REAR BRAKE LINE THAT BURST IN OCTOBER. WE KEPT IT AS I PLAN TO TAKE IT WITH ME WHEN THE RECALL PARTS FINALLY COME IN AND DEMAND THEY CHANGE THE REAR BRAKE LINES AT NO COST AS WELL.

I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS DRIVING AROUND TOWN ONE DAY WHEN I NOTICED MY AUTO ENGINE START/STOP FEATURE IN MY 2017 FORD EDGE STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP & THEY SAID IT WAS A MISFIRE IN THE ENGINE. A WEEK LATER, A YELLOW LIGHT WITH THE PICTURE OF AN ENGINE APPEARS ON MY DASH. I TOOK MY CAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. I CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL AND IT WAS REALLY LOW. I PUT COOLANT IN MY RESERVOIR AND IT WORKS AGAIN. BUT, I HAVE TO KEEP FILLING THE RESERVOIR WITH COOLANT EVERY OTHER DAY, WHICH GETS EXPENSIVE. I TELL THE SERVICE GUYS, AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO MY ENGINE DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, WHICH CAUSES THE HEATING TO STOP WORKING, AND LOW COOLANT LEVELS. MY VEHICLE IS A 2017 WITH 87,000 MILES. FORD IS SAYING IT IS ONLY A BULLETIN AND NOT A RECALL SO I AM HAVING TO PAY FOR A NEW MOTOR OUT OF POCKET FOR A DESIGN FLAW IN THE ENGINE. I AM A RECENT COLLEGE GRAD AND WAS NOT EXPECTING TO PAY $9,000 FOR A NEW MOTOR ON A RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLE ON TOP OF MY STUDENT DEBT. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE REGARDING A BRAKE ISSUE, HOWEVER, ON TOWING TO THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THIS ISSUE IS NOT RELATED, YET I FEEL THAT IT IS, AND IS TOO COINCIDENTAL TO HAPPEN IN THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE RECALLED PART. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

LUCKILY MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY'VE AGREED TO COVER THE FULL COST OF AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. OTHERS NOT WO LUCKY. FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE AND CHARGING 10 GRAND TO REPAIR WHEN ITS REALLY AT NO FAULT OF THE CONSUMERS OWN. IM SCARED TO EVEN GET MY CAR BACK IF THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN AFTER MY WARRANTY IS UP. FORD REALLY SHOULD CORRECT THIS KNOW ISSUE ON ALL 2017 EDGES WHERE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE PISTONS CAUSING MISFIRE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN. I TOOK IT TO THE CLOSET FORD. THEY LET ME KNOW THAT THE SECOND CYLINDER IS MISFIRING. THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE COOLANT HAS LEAKED INTO. THEY STATED THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND REPLACE THE LONG BLOCK.
