TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER SAFELY INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CONTACT WAITED FOR A MOMENT AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BEAU TOWNSEND FORD (1020 W NATIONAL RD, VANDALIA, OH 45377, (937) 898-5841) WHERE THE POWER STEERING WAS RESET. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
ON 10/6/18 I BEGAN EXPERIENCING A SUDDEN STIFFNESS IN MY STEERING WHEEL AS I TURNED THE CORNER ON A MAIN CITY STREET. AT THIS POINT I HAD TO PULL OVER CAUTIOUSLY THREE BLOCKS AWAY INTO A GAS STATION AND CALL TRIPLE AAA TO GET TOWED HOME. THE TRIPLE AAA EMPLOYEE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT AROUND THE GAS STATION NOTING ALSO THAT THERE IS AN ON AND OFF STIFFNESS WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. I GOT TO GET MY VEHICLE TOWED AGAIN SINCE ITS SATURDAY NIGHT, AND NO ONE IS OPEN. IT WILL NEED TO BE TOWED FORD OR ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP. BASED ON THE RECALL INFORMATION, I COULD POSSIBLY NOT BELONG IN JOB#1 FROM KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI. I AM HOPING THIS RECALL APPLIES TO MY VEHICLE. I WILL CALL YOUR OFFICE ON MONDAY AS WELL AS MY FORD DEALERSHIP. I HOPE THAT I CAN RESOLVE THIS ISSUE QUICKLY AND SAFELY. IT WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE FOR ME. PARKED THE 2009 ESCAPE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT, EVERYTHING FELT PERFECTLY NORMAL. WENT TO DRIVE IT AT 6AM THE FOLLOWING DAY AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED 2 TIMES. TOTALING OVER $600 AND THE ISSUE STILL WASN'T FIXED. NOW THEY SAY THE ABS HYDRAULIC MODULE NEEDS REPLACED. THE COST OF THE PART IS $1700, PLUS LABOR. HOW DOES ALL THIS WITH THE BRAKES JUST GO BAD OVER NIGHT? SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF FORD ESCAPE OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. SO WHY ISNT THERE A RECALL YET
MY VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING A STIFF STEERING WHEEL AFTER LEAVING WALMART SATURDAY 10/6/19. IT WAS THEN TOWED 10/9/19 TO FIRESTONE AT WHICH TIME THEY INSTALLED AN ALTERNATOR TO SUPPOSEDLY TO ELIMINATE THE STIFF STEERING WHEEL, WHICH WAS FINE UNTIL 1/5/2019 AT WHICH TIME UPON DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY I-290 HEADING TO ELGIN FROM BELLWOOD AT 45 MILES PER HOUR OR SO I BEGAN EXPERIENCING A STIFF STEERING WHEEL AGAIN. I HAD TO TURN AROUND WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY AND FEARFULLY BACK TO BELLWOOD AND PARK VEHICLE AT AUNT'S HOME AND WAIT FOR ANOTHER TOW BACK TO FIRESTONE AGAIN. I WAS TOLD ON 1/7/19 BY FAUSTO, SERVICE MANAGER OF FIRESTONE THAT IS A DEFECT. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS A RECALL WITH FORD REGARDING THIS MATTER. I INFORMED THEM THAT THE RECALL DIDN'T APPLY TO MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE, BUT IN ANOTHER BATCH RECALL #14S05. SO, I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD ON 1/11/2019. I WAS PREVIOUSLY TOLD IN EARLY OCTOBER, 2019 BY FORD THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. I DON'T GET WHY I AM STUCK WITH THIS BILL FOR SOMETHING THAT I PERCEIVE AS A DEFECT AND SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST IN MY OPINION. ULTIMATELY, ON TODAY 1/11/2019 I WAS CHARGED $1,578 PLUS THE COST OF AN ALTERNATOR ON 10/11/2018 TO FIRESTONE PURSUANT TO THE STIFF STEERING WHEEL ISSUE. THIS DOESN'T SEEM FAIR THAT BECAUSE I AM NOT IN A PARTICULAR BATCH I HAVE TO ASSUME THIS RESPONSIBILITY, BUT I KNOW THAT I AM NOT ALONE. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AT 17,781 MILES SO I VIRTUALLY HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE ON THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS. IT HAS NEVER BEEN OUT OF TOWN, AND ONCE TO SOUTH HOLLAND, ILLINOIS IN ALL OF THIS TIME. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP PURSUE THIS RECALL IN THE BEST INTEREST OF MYSELF AND OTHER CONSUMERS OF THIS FORD MANUFACTURING PRODUCT DEFECT. A FEW DAYS AGO WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROADS AT APPROX 30 MPH, THE POWER STEERING CUT OUT AND THE BATTERY LIGHT LIT. I PULLED OVER RE-STARTED CAR, DROVE ANOTHER 2 MILES AND SAME HAPPENED WHILE GOING AROUND A BEND IN ROAD CAUSING ME TO PARTIALLY GO INTO ONCOMING LANE. THIS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES WHILE BRINGING CAR TO REPAIR SHOP AND NOW TOLD I NEED A COMPLETE STEERING COLUMN DUE TO ALL COMPUTERIZED STEERING CONTROLS BEING LOCATED IN THE COLUMN. IS FORD DOING ANYTHING TO RECTIFY THIS OBVIOUS COMMON AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM ? I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING, THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND THE PROBLEM WAS TEMPORARILY FIXED. WEEKS LATER THE POWER STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING ALMOST RESULTING IN A CRASH. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS STATED THAT THE RECALL IS CLOSED AND THE FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING IS NOT THEIR FAULT, CHARGING THOUSANDS FOR A REPAIR OF THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. DURING THE FAILURE, THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (JACK KAIN FORD, 3405 LEXINGTON RD, VERSAILLES, KENTUCKY) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN 2014 PER AN UNKNOWN NHTSA CAMPAIGN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
IN MAY 2015,I PURCHASED MY 2009 FORD XSCAPE FOUR-CYLINDER HYBRID FROM A FORD DEALER. THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN BY AN OLDER WOMAN AND MOSTLY KEPT IN A GARAGE SO THE MILEAGE WAS LOW AT ABOUT 45,000 MILES. AT APPROXIMATELY OCTOBER 2018, AT 70,000 MILES I ENTERED THE FREEWAY AND WHEN I ACCELERATE THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT ON AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE . THIS HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES RANDOMLY UNDER COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES BUT MOSTLY WHEN I NEEDED EXTRA POWER. I WOULD PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE IGNITION, TURN IT BACK ON AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD BE OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE VIA COMPUTER WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. COULD NOT FIND A CODE FOR THE PROBLEM. THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM.THEY SAID IT MIGHT'VE BEEN BAD GASOLINE. HAVE NOT HAD THE WRENCH LIGHT OR 'LIMPING HOME' ISSUE SINCEJULY 2019 WITH VEHICLE CURRENTLY AT 79,000 MILES. OUT OF NOWHERE THIS MONTH, I AM NOW HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH WRENCH LIGHT AND LIMPING HOME. ENGINE LIGHT IS ON NOW, WITH WRENCH LIGHT. IF I PULL OVER TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON THE WRENCH LIGHT GOES AWAY. S. I HAD BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE BACK ROADS BUT ENTERING THE FREEWAY, OR NEEDING TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 30 MILES AN HOUR CAUSES THE WRENCH LIGHT TO GO ON, AND 'LIMP MODE' WHICH IS VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE NO MATTER HOW FAR I PRESS THE GAS. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. AND THERE WAS A RECALL IN SOUTH CAROLINA? AND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS THAT THE 2009 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID OUTSIDE OF THAT STATE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE LAWSUIT.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. CONTINUES TO GO IN AND OUT. I SEE THE RECALL FOR CERTAIN VEHICLES. OBVIOUS MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS RECALLED VEHICLES. ONLY 74K MILES.
THE POWER STEERING INTERMENTLY GOES OUT IT EITHER WORKS WHEN I START THE CAR OR IT DOESN'T. I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN SINCE THAT IS WHERE ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL PARTS ARE LOCATED. FORD SAYS THIS IS NOT UNDER THERE RECALL AND IT WILL BE $1350 TO REPLACE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FROM WHAT I AM SEEING FORD WANTS TO TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS
POWER STEERING HAS BEEN GOING OUT OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. I HAVE TO PUT ALL MY STRENGTH INTO BARELY BEING ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE INTERSTATE WITHOUT WARNING, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IT HAS OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY UPON STARTING VEHICLE. AS OF NOW, WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO WORK AT ALL FOR NEARLY A WEEK. USUALLY, TURNING VEHICLE ON AND OFF OVER AND OVER WILL AT SOME POINT GET THE POWER STEERING TO WORK BUT NOT ANYMORE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE HAPPENING WITH AN UNACCEPTABLE NUMBER OF FORD ESCAPES AND FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE!!! IS IT GOING TO TAKE TERRIBLY INJURY OR DEATH BEFORE THIS IS ADDRESSED?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEAN ARBOUR FORD (1001 U.S. 23 NORTH, ALPENA, MI 49707, 888-232-8051) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 63,224. *TT UPDATED 11/29/18*JB
HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN 20 MINUTES ON 08/16/2018: VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION EACH TIME, SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING ENGINE STOPPED, ALL WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON DASHBOARD AND LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF STEERING, SPEED CONTROL. WHEELS LOCKED UP AND ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN ON VEHICLE AGAIN.

THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY IN AN EFFORT TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND ALSO RECURRED WHILE IN REVERSE GEAR. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: CAS-15831770. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2009 FORD ESCAPE, 3.0L XLT. VEHICLE ENGINE POWER LOST AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, ON SEPT 7, 2018. A RED WRENCH LIGHT FLASHED ON THE DASH DURING THE EVENT. WAS ABLE TO AVOID TRAFFIC, PARK ON THE SHOULDER, RESTART THE VEHICLE, AND DRIVE AT NORMAL SPEED TO THE NEAREST EXIT. THIS SAME POWER LOSS HAS OCCURRED AT NORMAL DRIVING SPEED TWO MORE TIMES AFTER THE HIGHWAY EVENT. THERE ARE NO ENGINE CODES FOUND AFTER DIAGNOSTIC CHECK BY LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP. THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER BEING DRIVEN ON HIGHWAYS. THIS ESCAPE WAS DIAGNOSED BY FORD DEALER IN 2017 FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03 REGARDING THROTTLE BODY FAILURES. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND NO ISSUES WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AT THAT TIME.
VEHICLE STALLS/SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE IN MOTION DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ON SIDE STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. RECENTLY HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN 30 MINUTES. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL REPAIR HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED BILL BROWN FORD AT (734) 399-4244 (LOCATED AT 32222 PLYMOUTH RD, LIVONIA, MI 48150) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V28400 (STEERING) WAS A ONE TIME REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

WAS DRIVING AND POWER STEERING ASSIST STOPPED WORKING WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT.. ALMOST CAUSED A ACCIDENT.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. CAR STALLS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN ACCELERATING AT INTERSECTION. VERY DANGEROUS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON CODE P2112. ISSUE HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND CAR STARTS AGAIN AFTER STALL.
WHEN DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT IN MY 2009 FORD ESCAPE AS I WAS PASSING A SEMI TRUCK, CAUSING ME TO NEARLY CRASH INTO A GUARD RAIL AT 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. UPON RESEARCH OF MY VEHICLE I FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR THIS AND FORD IS REFUSING TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE USED TO SUPPORT MY FAMILY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALLAN VIGIL FORD OF FAYETTEVILLE (LOCATED AT 275 GLYNN ST N, FAYETTEVILLE, GA 30214, (770) 461-1151) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY MY VEHICLES POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND WENT TO MANUAL CONTROL AND I HAD MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT ONLY ON MODELS OUT OF KANSAS CITY PLANT. APARENTLY THIS ISN'T THE CASE, AFTER RESEARCH THERE HAS BEEN HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND TOLD THE SAME THING BY FORD THAT IT'S NOT COVERED UNLESS IT CAME FROM KANSAS CITY PLANT. THIS REPAIR COST ME 2,228 DOLLARS AND ONLY 249 DOLLARS WAS LABOR. THE ONE PART FROM THE FORD DEALER WAS 1564 WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED SINCE FORD KNOWS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY IGNITION SWITCH BECAUSE IT CAUSED IT TO HAVE AN ISSUE.
MY DAUGHTER WOULD INITIALLY HAVE TO TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF ANYWHERE FROM 8-30 TIMES TO TRY TO GET THE POWER STEERING TO KICK IN BUT EVENTUALLY SHE WAS DRIVING AND IT JUST STOPPED WORKING FOR GOOD. THOUGH POWER STEERING SHOWS AS , "FIXED" AFTER A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON 2014,MY DAUGHTER WAS NEARLY IN A FATAL ACCIDENT WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT SUDDENLY. I SAW THAT THERE WERE TWO POSSIBLE ERROR CODES-ONE WAS A SOFTWARE CODE WHICH THAT SOFTWARE UPDATE WOULD FIX BUT IF YOU HAVE THE ISSUE WITH TWO DIFFERENT CODES THEN THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN HAS TOEPLACED. WE HAVE BOTH CODES AND YET FORD DENIED IT BECAUSE OF THE PLANT AT WHICH IT WAS MADE. IT DID SAY THOUGH THAT SOME CARS MADE AT OUR PLANT WERE INCLUDED IN THE SECOND RECALL. I AM CERTAIN IT SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS, AS HAVE MANY OTHERS I'M SURE. I WANT FORD TO STAND BY ITS PRODUCT AND I DON'T WANT SOME OTHER FAMILY TO FIND OUT WHEN THEIR DAUGHTER DOES DIE IN AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE REVIEW ALL CARS THAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED
THE ESCAPE HAS BEEN TOWED IN 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, THE FORD HOUSE HAS KEPT IT 2 WEEKS, 3 TIMES AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY RANDOMLY JUST WON'T START. THEY REPLACED STARTER, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX IT. I TOOK TO A MASTER MECHANIC AND HE CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
ENGINE TURNS OFF WHEN DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS IN VARYING CONDITIONS; IE. DRIVING SLOW, DRIVING FAST, ON THE HIGHWAY ON SIDE STREETS.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING MY POWER STEERING GO OUT RECENTLY. IT STARTED ON AUGUST 4, 2018. WHEN I TURN ON MY VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD NO POWER STEERING, AND I HAVE HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE POWER STEERING TO WORK AGAIN. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY GO OUT WHILE I AM DRIVING, AND MOST OF MY DAILY COMMUTE IS ON THE HIGHWAY.
THE POWER STEERING IS NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL BUT NOT MY VEHICLES VIN. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I HAVE KIDS AND CANT DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH STEERING ISSUES AND DONT UNDERSTAND WHY ONLY CERTAIN VINS WERE GIVEN THE RECALL. TRACKING #11113388 FILED 7/24/18 UPDATE. LOST USE OF POWER STEERING MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER IN AND OUT OF PARKING SPACES. CAR INITIALLY TAKEN TO FIRESTONE WHO CONTACTED FORD WITH DIAGNOSTIC AND TOLD TO REPLACE SENSOR- THIS DID NOT CORRECT PROBLEM. FIRESTONE REFERRED US BACK TO FORD REPAIR DUE TO THE COMPLAINTS ON FILE AND RECALL ON SENSOR/SOFTWARE. CAR TAKEN TO FORD; AFTER DIAGNOSTIC- STEERING COLUMN NEEDED REPLACING AT A COST TO THE OWNER OF $1600; WORK COMPLETED.
THE CAR STEERING COLUMN STARTED TO LOCK UP WHILE IT WAS PARKED WHEN YOU START THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN AFTER AWHILE IT WOULD YOU WERE ABLE TO TURN ON THE CAR IN THE STEERING WHEEL WERE FUNCTION AFTER A WHILE THE CAR WOULD DO IT WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WAS BROUGHT OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED A FEW MONTHS LATER SAME ISSUES STEERING WHEEL COLUMN OR STEERING WHEEL WOULD HIT WHEN TURNED BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS REPLACED THE SECOND TIME NOW ALL ELECTRONICS RELATING TO THE BRAKES ARE HAVING ISSUES LIKE BRAKE SWITCH STARTS TO MALFUNCTION OR BRAKES GET LOCKED UP. THE CAR WOULD HAVE TROUBLES EITHER PARKED OR WHILE DRIVING. I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP SO I'M NOT SURE IF THIS CAR HAD PRIOR ISSUES TO THAT NOTHING WAS DISCLOSED WHEN I PURCHASED IT. I AM AWARE OF OTHER FORD ESCAPE 2009 MODELS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN RECALLED
I RECEIVED THE CAR FOR MY AUNT WHO PURCHASED IT NEW. IN 2018. POWER STEERING WAS GOING OUT. I REACHED OUT TO FORD THEY SAID THEY HAD A RECALL. I GAVE MY VIN NUMBER AND THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT FROM THE LOT THAT WAS FOR THE RECALL BUT HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE SAME YEAR MAKE UP MY CAR.
A LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN PARKED. I'M EXTREMELY CONCERNED THIS WILL HAPPEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND PUT MY FAMILY AND OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHAMALEY FORD (11301 GATEWAY BLVD W, EL PASO, TX 79936, (915) 591-8600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL HOSE FOR THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 70MPH, WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED TO 40MPH. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN A WEEK. THE TROUBLE CODE SHOWS P2112. DEALER SAYS THAT MY VIN IS NOT COVERED BY THE CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03, BUT I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALER SAYS ETB MUST BE REPLACED. I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
IGNITION SWITCH DOESN'T TURN THE CAR ON WHEN TURNED. AFTER TURNING TO THE START POSITION YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE KEY IN FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. THE PROBLEM GRADUALLY GETS WORST TO THE POINT THAT IT NO LONGER WILL START THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE IGNITION SWITCH ALSO LOCKS THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. SEARCHING THE INTERNET I SEE LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE ALSO HAD THIS PROBLEM. I REQUEST THE NHTSA RECALL THE 09 FORD ESCAPE FOR THIS ISSUE ASAP.

THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FEE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 139,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS ATTRIBUTED TO THE VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.

MY STEERING WENT FROM EASY TO TURN TO VERY HARD TO TURN. I WAS PULLING ONTO HIGHWAY AND IT WENT TO SO HARD TO TURN I COULD NOT TURN BACK INTO THE LANE I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PULLING INTO. THIS WAS NOT THE ONLY TIME EITHER!! I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, NOT ONLY FOR THE DRIVER BUT FOR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. THE 14S05=RECALL NUMBER. I ONLY FOUND IT THROUGH CREDIT KARMA. IT CONCERNS THE EPS COMPONENT FAILING AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME HARD TO STEER! I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE OF RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE I DRIVE TO WORK, AND I SWING SHIFT, DAY, EVENING, AND MIDNIGHT ON DANGEROUS ROADS!
