THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO IDLE DURING DRIVING MODE. THE VEHICLE WOULD "LIMP ALONG" WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE TO PRESSING DOWN THE ACCELERATOR. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN STARTING IT AGAIN WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE UNTIL IT OCCURRED AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING ABILITY SEIZED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AGAIN AND THE POWER STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE VEHICLE AND WAS ADVISED TO CALL HEADQUARTERS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
TAKATA RECALL SINCE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE I HAD A PROBLEMS WITH POWER STEERING I LEARN TO CUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART.MY CAR WAS SERVICE AT ADAMSON FORD IN BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA FOR A POWER STEERING RECALL IT IS WORST NOW I CANNOT CUT IT OFF IT IS HARD THAN BEFORE TO TURN I RETURN BACK THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THE PROBLEMS WITH POWER STEERING HAS BEEN PERFORMED ALREADY HE STATED A SENSOR HARNESS PULLED LOOSE BUT I AM RETURN TO ADAMSON TODAY 11/30/15 I CALLED BEFORE THANKSGIVING THE SERVICE ADVISOR NO TECH. AVAILABLE UNTIL MONDAY 11/30/15.MY CAR I POWER STEERING IS WORST NOW BEFORE GOING TO GET RECALL ..THIS IS THE THIRD TIME 11/3/15 AND 11/16/15 WILL RETURN 11/30/15.I ONLY HAVE ONE CAR I NEED MY CAR FITS OR LIKE IT WAS BEFORE I COULD TURN OFF AND RESTART.
2009 FORD ESCAPE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS WITH NO WARNING AND ALSO ON START UP OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER FORD SAFETY RECALL 14S05 AND TORQUE SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THE EPAS SOFTWARE REPROGRAMMED. EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS OF POWER STEERING FAILURE HAVE RECURRED, THIS TIME DIAGNOSING AS POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDING REPLACEMENT AND THUS THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. FORD HAS DECLINED TO SERVICE VEHICLE UNDER SAFETY RECALL 14S05 DUE TO THE TORQUE SENSOR ALREADY BEING REPLACED. THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE IS, HOWEVER, LISTED UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL. I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT DID THE ORIGINAL RECALL WORK AND FORD CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVES THAT THIS IS NOW NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE OF THE TORQUE SENSOR ALREADY BEING REPLACED UNDER THE SAME RECALL. HOWEVER, PRIOR WORK DONE UNDER THE RECALL WAS INADEQUATE IN SOLVING THE ISSUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. STEERING WHEEL IS EXTREMELY STIFF AND VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN, ESPECIALLY AT SLOWER SPEEDS; ERROR CODE B1342; SUSPECT FAILED TORQUE SENSOR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE LOW AIR VALVE SENSOR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, INDICATING THAT ONE OF THE TIRES EXPERIENCED LOW AIR PRESSURE. MOMENTS LATER, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (JONES FORD, 2410 OCEAN HWY 17 SOUTH, SUPPLY, NC) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING PUMP WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000. *TT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS RUSTED. IN ADDITION, IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.

AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM. PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR, THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HAVING NO FAULT CODE PRIOR TO THE REMEDY BEING PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.

POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT HAVE REPLACE FRONT INNER BEARING,TRANSMISSION LINES, KEEP UP ON ALL MY MAINTAINED RECORDS SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN SEPT 2014' AND HAVE ALL OTHER MAINTAIN ECONOMIC RECORDS.

VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO FORD RECALL #14S05 WHICH DEALT WITH A TORQUE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN. AT THE TIME WE TOOK IT IN THERE WERE NO CODES REPORTED SO THE DEALER PERFORMED THE RECOMMENDED SERVICE AND REPROGRAMMED THE SOFTWARE. APPROXIMATELY A MONTH LATER MY WIFE EXPERIENCED A POWER STEERING FAILURE ON THE WAY TO WORK. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO FOUND THE CODE FOR THE TORQUE SENSOR AND REPLACED IT BUT THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AFTER CONSULTING FORD IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. I WAS ADVISED BY MY DEALER THAT THE INITIAL RECALL WORK DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND THIS WAS THE NEEDED REPAIR BUT THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED SINCE THEY HAD PERFORMED THE INITIAL RECOMMENDED REPAIR(REPROGRAMMING OF THE SOFTWARE). AT THIS POINT EVEN MY DEALER AGREES THAT THE INITIAL FIX IS INADEQUATE AND IT SHOULD BE A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING COLUMN BUT FORD WILL NO LONGER HONOR THE RECALL SINCE IT WAS "FIXED" ONCE.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SENSOR AND STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE ONBOARD DIAGNOSTIC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MASS AIR INDEX WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE MAINTENANCE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE ABS, LOW TIRE PRESSURE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND PARKING WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 169,000. UPDATED 10/18/16*LJ *TR
POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT THREE TIMES WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION EACH TIME THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY AND ONCE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. SERVICE CENTER AT MULLINIX FORD IN MOBILE, AL SAID IT WAS AN ELECTRONIC PROBLEM AND WOULD COST $698 PLUS TAX TO FIX THE PROBLEM. DOING RESEARCH, I SEE THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND FORD IS NOT CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF ITS CAR OWNERS. I HAVE BEEN A FORD CAR OWNER MY ENTIRE LIFE AND THIS MAKES ME WONDER WHY!
MY FORD ESCAPE HAS A LEAK SOMEWHERE IN THE ROOF. THE WATER COMES IN DOWN THE A&B POSTS AND ONTO THE FLOOR. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE A&B POSTS IT FLOWS OVER SEVERAL WIRES AND AIR BAG COMPONENTS, ALSO ON THE A POST SIDE IT FLOWS AROUND AND POSSIBLY INTO THE FUZE PANEL. THE FLOOR OF MY VEHICLE IS ALWAYS SOAKED AND EVERYTIME IT RAINS IT BECOMES RE-SOAKED. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND IT APPEARS SEVERAL THOUSAND ESCAPES HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS.
WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE CAR WILL STALL OUT WHEN TRYING TO PRESS THE GAS TO GO. THE CODE CAME UP AS P2112 WHEN I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED.
I HAVE A 2009FORD ESCAPE PURCHASED USED IN MAY 2014. LAST NIGHT WHEN DRIVING HOME MY CAR STALLED AS IF IT WERE NOT GETTING GAS. WE WERE ALMOST HIT BY ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE OF THIS. I CALLED FORD THIS MORNING AND THEY SAY THEY "CANNOT" DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE WINDOW TO GET THEM FIXED ENDED JANUARY 2015. IT INFURIATES ME THAT FORD AND NHTSA IS AWARE THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT MY CHILDREN AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BECAUSE THEY DID NOT ISSUE A "TRUE RECALL" AND NOW REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!?!
THE FIRST TWO TIMES THE PROBLEM HAPPENED WERE IMMEDIATELY AFTER BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, GOING TO WORK. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE AND ACCELERATED. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE CAR LOST POWER AND SLOWED--PUTTED ALONG AS IF IT WERE RUNNING ON 2 CYLINDERS. I STOPPED, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED PERHAPS 20-30 SECONDS, THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THEN ENGINE THEN RAN FINE, AND I CONTINUTED ON MY WAY. YESTERDAY, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STRUCK 3 TIMES AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. EACH TIME, I TRIED THE ABOVE RESPONSE, AND IT WORKED--FOR A SHORT TIME. I LIVE ABOUT 4 MILES FROM WORK, AND THE PROBLEM AROSE 3 TIMES IN THE APPROX. 15 MINUTES IT TAKES TO DRIVE HOME. MY WIFE MENTIONED THAT THE PROBLEM STRUCK WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING THE CAR THE DAY BEFORE.
THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. I WAS TURNING INTO A SHOPPING MALL AND THERE WAS SUDDENLY NO WAY I COULD STEER THIS CAR. IT IS DANGEROUS TO TRY DRIVING THE VEHICLE. YOU CANNOT TURN IT WITHOUT BRUTE FORCE AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS A TORQUE SENSOR WHICH WHEN IT GOES OUT, THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN MUST BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $1500. FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE BEFORE TOO MANY OWNERS END UP IN CRASHES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE A PERMANENT REMEDY TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS BLED THE BRAKE LINES AND REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER THREE TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15E045000 (SUSPENSION). TUSCALOOSA FORD (5801 MCFARLAND BLVD E, TUSCALOOSA, AL 35405, (205) 304-0719) STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THERE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I OWN A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. THERE WAS A VERY LARGE RECALL ON THE STEERING COLUMN A COUPLE YEARS BACK, AS THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD RANDOMLY FREEZE AND YOU HAD VERY LITTLE CONTROL OVER YOUR CAR. I HAD THIS ISSUE. I ALMOST GOT INTO A SERIOUS WRECK DURING ONE OF THESE FREEZING EPISODES WHEN I WAS MAKING A SLOW TURN ONTO A ROAD IN ATLANTA, GA. THE RECALL SAID TO BRING IN THE CAR TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY WOULD EITHER DO A RE-SET ON THE COMPUTER, OR REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN IF DEEMED NECESSARY. ORIGINALLY, THEY RE-SET THE COMPUTER. IT HAPPENED ONE TIME AFTER THE COMPUTER RESET, BUT I FIGURED IT WAS JUST A FLUKE. ALMOST A YEAR LATER... THE SAME ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY, AGAIN, AND WITHIN 2 DAYS, THE ELECTRONIC STEERING WAS COMPLETELY GONE. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING ABILITY. IT WENT OUT COMPLETELY. I BROUGHT IT BACK IN TO GWINNETT PLACE FORD, AND THE "SERVICE" CENTER SAID THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED, AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A STEERING COLUMN OUT OF POCKET ($1,400). I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY OUT OF POCKET... EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NOT AN EXPIRATION DATE ON THE RECALL. FORD HQ STATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP COULD HAVE REPLACED IT FREE OF CHARGE (INSTEAD OF THE $1,400 THEY MADE ME PAY) AND THEN JUST SENT THE RECALL AND THE BILL TO FORD HQ FOR A REFUND. GWINNETT PLACE FORD BLAMED IT ALL BACK ON FORD HQ FOR AN "EXPIRED" RECALL. PER THE RECALL LETTER, THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED MY STEERING COLUMN FREE OF CHARGE....THEY DID NOT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING IN THE FAR LEFT LANE OF THE FREEWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK AND MY CAR SHUT OFF, SOMETIMES MY CARS DOES NOT START. I HAVE HAD ALTERNATOR, STARTER TESTED, AND THEY ARE GOOD, MY CAMSHAFT SENSOR REPLACED, IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED, SPARK PLUGS REPLACED, I KEEP A GOOD HANDLE ON MAINTENANCE UP, BUT MY CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING AND SOMETIMES DON'T TURN ON AT ALL IS KEEP HAPPENING, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, VERY HARD TO TURN, ALL COMPONENTS IN MY CAR DON'T COME ON, GEARS LIGHT POPS ON AND OFF, DASHBOARD LIGHT SOMETIME FLICKERS. I HAVE HAD MY BACK LIGHTS. AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. *TR
IN FEBRUARY OF 2015 I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO AL PIEMONTE'S ARLINGTON HEIGHTS FORD IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, ILLINOIS BECAUSE OUR POWER STEERING HAD BEEN GOING OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THEY SAID IT JUST NEEDED A COMPUTER UPDATE RELATING TO RECALL 14S05. LAST WEEKEND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY AND NEVER CAME BACK ON. THERE WAS NO WARNING, NO INDICATOR LIGHT OR SOUND AS REFERENCED IN RECALL 14S05. I RELUCTANTLY DROVE IT INTO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP, GOLF MILL FORD IN NILES, ILLINOIS. TO BE PROACTIVE, I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AT 800-392-3673 AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON. THEY CREATED A "CASE FOR ME" AND SAID TO WAIT TO HEAR FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP. HE CALLED ME LAST EVENING AND SAID THAT FORD WON'T HONOR THE RECALL BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN "CLEARED" AND THEY WOULDN'T COVER ANY PORTION OF THE REPAIR WHICH WILL BE AROUND $1200 (TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY). I'VE HAD TO GET A RENTAL VEHICLE AS WELL. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE LAST NIGHT AND ASKED HOW THEY MADE THAT DECISION. THE AGENT SAID IT WAS THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT BUT THEY ONLY WILL SPEAK WITH THE DEALERSHIP. I ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR OR MANAGER AND THEY SAID NO WAS WAS AVAILABLE. I ASKED IF I COULD GET A CALL BACK FROM ONE AND THE AGENT SAID HIS SYSTEM WENT DOWN SO THERE WAS NOWHERE TO SAVE THE INFORMATION. TODAY I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AGAIN AND EXPLAINED IN DETAIL SPECIFICALLY THAT IF I HADNT BROUGHT IT IN BACK IN FEBRUARY THEY WOULD BE HONORING THIS RECALL. PROBLEME COME IN THE MORNING AFTER A SMALL RUN TO CORNER STORE. 2 MONTS BEFORE FORE UPDATE DE TROTTLE SOFTWARE. FOR THE RECAL.
POWER STEERING FAILURE: FOLLOWING THE FIRST OCCURRENCE (14 AUG 2015) THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER INSTANCES WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WHEREBY I LOST POWER STEERING AGAIN AND HAD TO REVERT TO MANUAL STEERING. NINE MONTHS AGO ( 10 DEC 2014) I HAD MY CAR SERVICED AT FORD'S EXPENSE FOR THEIR RECALL 14S05 THAT RELATED TO THEIR "ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING" DEFECT WHICH ONLY AMOUNTED TO A COMPUTER CODE REPROGRAM. THEN ON AUGUST 26, 2015, AFTER SEVERAL MORE FAILURES, I HAD MY CAR SERVICED FOR THE POWER STEERING FAILURE IN WHICH CASE THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY AND THE HOUSING HAD TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE WHICH I DIDN'T THINK WAS FAIR. RECALL 14S05, TO ME, WAS A QUICK FIX WHICH DID NOT ADDRESS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE FORD ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE WHICH WAS QUITE EXPENSIVE. I AM HOPING FOR A RECALL CONCERNING THIS DEFECT SINCE I HAVE READ MANY MORE COMPLAINTS (SAME PROBLEM) FROM OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND IF SO, QUALIFY FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE STEERING COLUMN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE A GOOD WILL OPTION FOR THE CONTACT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,400.

WHEN DRIVING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT, AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON. THESE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC, THEY TELL ME IT IS THE ABS MODULE. THE TEST COST $100. TO REPLACE THE MODULE WILL COST $1395. SHOULD THIS NOT BE A WARRANTED ITEM FOR SAFETY? THE SHOP TOLD ME THAT THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL WILL NOT WORK UNTIL THE MODULE IS REPLACED.

THE TRACTION CONTROL, ABS, AIR BAG, AND EAS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CLOCK SPRING WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
VEHICLE SURGED THEN STALLED, WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE VEHICLE STUTTERED UNTIL WE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. VEHICLE STARTED AND OPERATED WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL JULY 7, WHEN IT DISPLAYED THE SAME ISSUE (THIS TIME, THE VEHICLE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE CRUISING AT A CONSTANT SPEED, WHICH PRESENTED A DANGEROUS SITUATION). WHEN CALLING THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY INDICATE THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT THAT THEY MAY NOT REPLACE OR REPAIR ANYTHING. VERY UNSATISFACTORY RESPONSE CONSIDERING THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FAULTINESS OF THEIR VEHICLE.
VEHICLE STALLED AND WENT INTO "LIMP-HOME" MODE AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED CONDITION.("LIMP-HOME" MODE IS A MODE PROGRAMMED BY FORD ENGINEERS TO ONLY ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD UNDER LIMITED POWER, GENERALLY ONLY 1-2 MPH.) I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS DUE TO A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED AN ADDITIONAL TWO TIMES ABOUT TWO WEEKS APART FROM THE FIRST INCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO USE MY OWN OBD II CODE SCANNER TO DETECT THE ERROR CODE P2111. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS COMPONENT WAS DETERMINED TO BE FAULTY AND FORD MOTOR CORPORATION ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THIS COMPONENT. HOWEVER, FORD WILL ONLY REPLACE THIS PART IF THEY ARE ABLE TO DOCUMENT THE ERROR CODE THEMSELVES ON THEIR CODE SCANNER. THE PROBLEM LIES IN THE DESIGN OF THIS VEHICLE IN THAT IT WON'T STORE THIS PARTICULAR CODE. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS, THE ONLY COURSE OF ACTION IS TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND TURN IT BACK ON IN HOPES OF RESETTING THE TRHOTTLE BODY. THIS WORKS BUT IT CANCELS THE ERROR CODE. THE DRIVER IS FORCED TO EMPLOY THIS TECHNIQUE TO CONTINUE THEIR TRAVEL OR FACED WITH THE OPTION OF WAITING FOR FORD TO COME AND SCAN FOR THE CODE THEMSELVES. IF THIS HAPPENS AFTER NORMAL WORK HOURS, THIS OF COURSE IS NOT AN OPTION. THE FACT THAT THIS ERROR CODE ERASES ITSELF IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE VEHICLE MOVING AGAIN IS A CATCH 22 SITUATION AND ONE THAT FORD SHOULD CORRECT. I WAS FORCED TO PURCHASE MY OWN REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY SINCE FORD WOULD NOT REPLACE IT.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,342. THE CONSUMER STATED HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ANYWAY TO HAVE IT INSPECTED, EVEN THOUGH HE WASN'T EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, A YEAR LATER, THE STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THERE WERE NO CHIMES OR TROUBLE LIGHTS BEFORE THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY DISPLAYING TROUBLE CODE B1342. THE CONSUMER REMINDED THE DEALER ABOUT THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AS BEING RECALLED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY LOOKED AT, DURING THE TIME OF THE RECALL. THE COST TO FIX THE VEHICLE WAS $1327.90

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND GOING AROUND A WINDING PART OF THE ROAD. I WAS COASTING DUE TO THE MULTIPLE CONSECUTIVE TURNS WHEN MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE GOING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART MY CAR WHILE COASTING. SINCE THIS EVENT IT HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 30 TIMES, ALWAYS AROUND LOW OR IDLE SPEEDS AND MORE OFTEN AFTER RUNNING LONGER. I PURCHASED THIS CAR SECOND HAND IN MARCH OF 2015. I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A FRUSTRATING PROBLEM OR UNSAFE FEELING WITH OR WHILE DRIVING A VEHICLE.

DRIVING TO WORK WHICH IS ABOUT 2 MILES FROM WHERE I AM LOCATED AT. MY CAR SUDDENLY LOSES POWER, THE RADIO IS STILL WORKING, A/C IS STILL WORKING AS WELL AS THE ENGINE BUT I WAS NOT GETTING NO ACCELERATION AT ALL AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME AND 3 LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED: WRENCH LIGHT, OIL AND ENGINE LIGHT. I GOT THE ENGINE LIGHT FIXED THE OTHER WEEK AS WELL AS AN OIL CHANGE SEVERAL WEEKS BACK AND THE WRENCH WAS THE FIRST FOR ME. I DONE SOME RESEARCH AND I SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMER WITH A FORD ESCAPE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED DIFFERENT MECHANICS, SOME SAY ITS THE ALTERNATOR OR IT COULD BE THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT EITHER WAY I AM SCREWED BECAUSE FORD CHARGES AN ARM AND A LEG TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT DOES NOT REFUND YOU IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO PERSIST. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN FT. MYERS, FL AND THEY TOLD ME TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND PAY A $100 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TOO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE, MY ISSUE IS THAT I AM AFRAID THAT I CAN NOT EVEN MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I END UP IN AN ACCIDENT OR I PAY A $100 FOR THEM TOO TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR(SOMETHING FORD IS KNOWN FOR). I HOPE SOMETHING IS GETTING DONE WITH THIS PROBLEM, IF NOT FORD IS GOING TO LOSE ITS CUSTOMERS AND IF SO I AM GOING TO SWITCH OVER TO DODGE.
WASHING MY CAR AND NOTICE RUSTED WHEEL WELL ON REAR PASSENGER SIDE. RUST IS COMING THROUGH TO THE OUTSIDE OVER THE TIRE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD ESCAPE. APPARENTLY, THIS LEADS TO MORE SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH THE SHOCKS AND OTHER PARTS BREAKING. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 5 YEARS AND USUALLY FORD MAKES A WONDERFUL PRODUCT. I AM GREATLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SEVERE FLAW AND UNFORTUNATELY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT DUE TO COST. HOPEFULLY, I WILL NOT PAY WITH MY LIFE.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE POWER STEERING CALIBRATION UPDATE IN MARCH 2015. IN MAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MUDDY ROAD WHEN MY POWER STEERING JUST WENT OUT. I WAS ON THE EDGE OF THE ROAD NEAR A CLIFF AND WAS TRYING TO MANEUVER AROUND ANOTHER VEHICLE STUCK IN THE MUD. IT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS IF I WAS NOT GOING SO SLOWLY. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS A COMPUTER PROBLEM WITH THE TORQUE SENSOR OR POWER STEERING MODULE. ALL FUSES, WIRES, AND FLUIDS WERE GOOD. I WAS NOT NEAR A FORD DEALER SO HAD TO DRIVE OVER 300 MILES WITHOUT POWER STEERING TO GET TO A DEALER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WHEN THEY DID THE UPDATE IN MARCH AND THAT WHILE THERE IS CURRENTLY A SAFETY RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM IT IS NOT FOR THIS PROBLEM (P2274) AND THEREFORE I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE RECALL CALIBRATION. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

TURNED ON HAZARDS AND HAD TO CROSS 4 LANES OF HEAVY MORNING COMMUTING TRAFFIC TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY. AS I STOPPED THE CAR, AGAIN IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT. PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE MOTOR. TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, WHICH DIDN'T FIRE UP AS USUAL, BUT IT DID RESTART. PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND DROVE TO WORK WITHOUT INCIDENT. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE! PEOPLE ON THE FREEWAY WERE NOT WILLING TO SLOW DOWN TO LET ME OVER, THE KEPT FLYING AROUND ME. I CALLED TWO DEALERSHIPS AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND BOTH SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM REGARDLESS OF THE REPORTED THROTTLE BODY ISSUES.
