IN JULY OF 2014 I HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED ON MY ESCAPE FOR THE POWER STEERING. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN AND I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT HAD PERFORMED THE RECALL WORK AND WAS TOLD THAT IF IT WENT OUT AGAIN I WOULD NEED TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING SENSOR REPLACED. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. IN APRIL OF 2015 I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPLACED AND AFTER REPLACING THE SENSOR HE DISCOVERED IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. HE SPENT A COUPLE OF DAYS WORKING WITH FORD TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG AS ALL THE COMPUTERS WERE SAYING IT WAS THE SENSOR. FORD FINALLY SAID IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN THAT NEEDED REPLACED WHICH WAS OVER DOUBLE THE PRICE. AFTER TALKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT CONCERNS I HAD WITH REPLACING THAT AT SUCH A HIGH COST I LEARNED THAT FORD KNEW ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE ORIGINAL STEERING COLUMN COMPONENTS AND THEY HAVE CHANGED THEM IN THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. FORD REFUSED TO WORK WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER ON FIXING IT FOR ME OR WORKING WITH THE COST EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING POINTED TOO THE SENSOR. FORD IS AT SERIOUS FAULT KNOWING THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING COLUMN AND JUST TRIED TO PUT A BAND AID ON IT WITH THE RECALL THAT THEY DID ISSUE. *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON; MANUAL DID NOT HAVE CAUTIONARY INFORMATION. FURTHER UPON CHECKING, THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN(TSB) ISSUED BY FORD #-09-13-83. FAULTY PREMATURE FAILING PARTS ON MULTIPLE FORD MODELS INCLUDING FORD ESCAPE, MERCURY MARINER, FORD FUSION AND MERCURY MILAN. WHAT OCCURS IS VARIABLE CAM TIMING SOLENOIDS (2) FAIL CAUSING THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TO GO ON. THIS COULD RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AS THESE PARTS CONTROL THE TIMING OF THE MOTOR. FORD ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT IS NOT ISSUING A RE-CALL NOR GIVING ANY COMPENSATION TO CUSTOMERS REQUIRING THIS REPAIR. BASED ON DISCUSSIONS WITH VARIOUS DEALER MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENTS AND FORUM ON THE INTER-NET, THIS IS A MUCH MORE WIDE SPREAD ISSUE THAT FORD IS WILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WAS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
I DRIVE A 2009 FORD ESCAPE WHICH HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. IN MARCH OF 2015 I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT PUDDLES OF GASOLINE WERE APPEARING UNDER MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND WAS LEAKING. THIS IS ARGUABLY ONE OF THE MOST SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARDS THAT CAN BE FOUND ON A VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY FOR ONE THAT IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. FORD SHOULD HAVE ADEQUATE MEASURES IN PLACE TO PREVENT RUST ON SUCH A CRUCIAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STRIKE A POTHOLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER RIM AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION FRACTURED. AS RESULT, BOTH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A 6 LANE HIGHWAY YESTERDAY AFTER WORK. POSTED SPEED LIMIT 65 MPH. MY CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 65, I WAS IN A CENTER LANE WHEN MY VEHICLE MADE A LOUD CLUNK AND THE CRUISE CONTROL CUT OFF AND I STARTED LOSING POWER TO THE CAR.THE ENGINE WAS ON BUT PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL DID NOTHING. I WAS TRYING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH CARS SPEEDING AND SWERVING ALL AROUND ME. I WAS PETRIFIED. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THE CAR WAS TAKEN FOR SERVICE TODAY. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR AND IT WAS ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THE RECEIPT CLEARLY STATES THIS IS RECALL NOTICE 13N03. I HAVE NOW READ ABOUT THIS ONLINE AND YOU GUYS ARE LETTING FORD CALL THIS A "CUSTOMER SERVICE SATISFACTION PROGRAM". WELL, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT NOTIFYING CUSTOMERS OF A DEFAULT WITH A VEHICLE THAT ENDANGERS PEOPLE. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER AND I COULD OF DIED YESTERDAY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
STALLED OUT AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. *TR
WHEN I RECEIVED THE RECALL ON THE POWERSTEERING IN THE FALL OF 2014, I TOOK IT INTO A FORD DEALER WHERE THEY SAID IT WASN'T SHOWING ANY "CODES" BUT THEY RE-PROGRAMMED IT THIS WAS 9/2014. IN 2/2015 I STARTED TO NOTICE OCCASIONALLY JERKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE IDLING. ON 2/23/15 IT BECAUSE SEVERE JERKING AND SHAKING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK OR IDLING, I STOPPED BY THE FORD DEALER ON 2/25 AND THEY TOLD ME IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WARRANTY. ON 3/2/15 I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND AM NOW PAYING $1000 TO HAVE THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING COLUMN REPLACED. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMMENTS OF THIS PROBLEM -- WHAT IS FORD GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?! *TR
BRAKE AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AT LEAST 3 TIMES WHEN 2009 FORD ESCAPE XLT WANTED TO ACCELERATE. *TR
FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON ESCAPES (RECALL # 14S05). THE RECALL WAS RELATED TO A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALER TO ADDRESS THE RECALL. AT THE TIME I BROUGHT IT IN I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE THERE WERE NO CURRENT PROBLEMS WITH MY POWER STEERING THEY WERE ONLY REQUIRED TO CALIBRATE IT (IF THERE HAD BEEN PROBLEMS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN REQUIRED TO REPLACE IT). LESS THAN ONE MONTH LATER MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO FORD. FORD TOLD ME THAT THE PART HAD TO BE REPLACED AND IT HAD TO BE AT MY OWN EXPENSE BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY BROUGHT MY CAR IN ONCE FOR THE RECALL (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT REPLACED THEN, IT WAS ONLY CALIBRATED). THEY TOLD ME THAT HAD I NOT BROUGHT THE CAR IN A MONTH BEFORE, TO ADDRESS THE RECALL, THE REPLACEMENT PART WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THIS POLICY ENCOURAGES DRIVERS TO NOT BRING THEIR CAR IN IF THEY GET A RECALL IN THE MAIL, INSTEAD THEY SHOULD WAIT FOR THE PART TO FAIL WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING SO FORD WILL COVER THE COST AS PART OF THE RECALL. I ALSO FEEL LIKE THE ONLY REASON I ENDED UP HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING WAS BECAUSE OF THEIR CALIBRATION. MY ESCAPE IS A 2009 SO IT'S BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR 5+ YEARS AND LESS THAN ONE MONTH AFTER I BRING IT IN FOR CALIBRATION THE FAULT LIGHT COMES ON AND IT DOES NOT WORK. I WISH I HAD NOT BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL AND I WILL RECONSIDER ANY FUTURE RECALLS. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. PLEASE MAKE FORD ISSUE A SECOND RECALL SO PEOPLE WILL DO THE RIGHT THING, WHICH MEANS BRINGING THEIR CAR IN TO MAKE IT SAFER, AND GETTING THE FAULTY PART REPLACED AT FORD'S EXPENSE AS IT SHOULD BE. *TR

I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE MARCOTTE FORD. THEY SAID THE PART THAT FAILED WAS THE PART THAT WAS RECALLED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD THEM THEY DID THEIR PART ON THE RECALL WHEN THEY REPROGRAMMED IT AND WILL NOT COVER THE PART. I THEN CALLED FORD AND SPOKE WITH THEM. CUSTOMER RELATIONS SAID THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING EITHER. THEY WOULD SEND AN EMAIL TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND SEE IF HE WOULD BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP WITH THE COST. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME HE "EXHAUSTED ALL HIS EFFORTS". I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AND I AM NOW OUT $1200.00 TO FIX A PART THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BY THE RECALL. THIS IS UNETHICAL AT BEST. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TPMS LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DEALER RESET BOTH CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING ABOUT 50MPH WHEN THE CAR JUST STOP ACCELERATING. ENGINE STILL RUNNING BUT NO ABILITY TO MOVE. A RED WRENCH STARTS FLASHING WHEN THIS HAPPENS. *TR
ON THE FREEWAY PRESSED GAS-CAR DID NOT RESPOND, STALLING. PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, SLOWED, BACK TO DRIVE, ROUGH SHAKING, HARD TO CONTROL. VERY SCARY! GOT OFF AT THE CLOSEST EXIT -CAR WAS NOT RESPONDING. 3 PASSENGERS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR 6 DAYS PRIOR-SO VERY SCARY. *TR
POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT.WHILE DRIVING. CAR HAD BEEN RECALL IN JULY 2014, WHEN A UPDATE WAS DONE FOR POWER STEERING ASSIST UNIT. THAT DID NOT CORRECT ISSUE FORD DEALERSHIP IN LUGOFF SC THAT DID SERVICE OFFERED NO WARRANTY, THEY INSPECTED IT AND STATED STEERING PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A PRICE OF $2400.00 I JUST PURCHASED VEHICLE LESS THAN 30 DAYS WHEN THIS OCCURRED. FROM THE RESEARCH I DID I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS GOTTEN RIPPED BY THESE FAULTY VEHICLES. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ON THE STEERING COLUMN AND OTHER RELATED PARTS THAT CAUSE THIS ISSUE. *TR

SPEED DECELERATED ON INTERSTATE. COULD NOT INCREASE SPEED. ENGINE, SOUND SYSTEM, LIGHTS AND STEERING MAINTAINED OPERABLE. HAD TO COAST TO OUTSIDE LANE AND EXIT FREEWAY. WRENCH LITE CAME ON AND MANUAL INDICATED THROTTLE CONTROL. HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING SLOW SPEED ACCELERATION, BIT NEVER THIS. IT WAS A TRUE STATE OF PANIC IN 5PM RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,000.
AFTER A TWO WEEK PERIOD OF A RAPIDLY VIBRATING STEERING COLUMN, MY POWER STEERING FAILED AFTER THE VEHICLE FAILED TO WARN ME. UPON COMMUTING HOME, THERE WAS EXCESSIVE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING COLUMN. UPON STARTING MY VEHICLE THE FOLLOWING DAY (1/6/2015), POWER STEERING WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE TO MY DEALERSHIP SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH MUCH EFFORT, WHERE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE STEERING COLUMN HAD FAILED. IN MAY 2014, FORD RECALLED THE TORQUE SENSOR LOCATED IN THE STEERING COLUMN BECAUSE OF POWER STEERING FAILURES, AND ISSUED A FIX TO REPLACE/REPROGRAM THE MODULE. I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED FOR THIS RECALL IN AUGUST 2014. POWER STEERING FAILED, DESPITE THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS TORQUE SENSOR MODULE. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT DRIVING AT THE TIME. THIS POWER STEERING FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR OTHER UNSAFE CONDITIONS.
VEHICLES FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO STALL THEN ACCELERATES. IT HAS BEEN RECALIBRATED BEFORE BUT, TWO MONTHS LATER WE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS ALSO A LEAK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE LOOKS TO BE TRANSMISSION OIL. ALSO, WE CAN NO LONGER OPEN THE TAIL GATE. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V2840000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER THE RECALL AND WAS NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR ANY REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. ON DECEMBER 28,2014 I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO A BUSY MAIN STREET WHEN MY POWER STEERING SUDDENLY WENT OUT ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK IT INTO MY MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD IT WAS MY BATTERY, WHICH WAS REPLACED. ON MARCH 25, 2015 I WAS TURNING ONTO A SIDE STREET WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME MY ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED. I AM SUSPICIOUS THAT EVERYTIME SOMETHING ELECTRICAL GOES, THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. I AM NOT CONVINCED THE BATTERY OR THE ALTERNATOR WERE DEFECTIVE NOW. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT MY VIN SAYS MINE IS NOT RECALLED. *TR

MAKING A TURN, MY CAR JERKED AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. WE HAD TO CRUISE TO OUR DESTINATION WHICH WAS CLOSE THANK GOD. I CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN. I TOLD THEM I WAS UNSURE IF IT WAS DRIVABLE. HE THEN TOLD ME HE COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT IT WAS TIL I BROUGHT IT IN. THEN TOLD ME I COULD TAKE IT IN TODAY BUT WON'T GET CHECKED TIL MONDAY. HE GOT MY NAME AND NUMBER. WE WENT TO VARIOUS AUTO PLACES FOR OPINIONS AND SOLUTIONS. WE THOUGHT WE FIGURED IT OUT BUT A FEW HOURS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN. MY HUSBAND WENT BACK TO PEP BOYS BUT WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT RUN DIAGNOSTICS BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON. MY HUSBAND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TALKED TO A MANGER ASKING WHY I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. HE EXPLAINED ITS NOT REALLY A RECALL BUT HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IF IT MEETS THE CRITERIA. WE EXPLAINED THAT THE FIRST MAN NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING NOR DID HE BOTHER TO LOOK UP MY INFORMATION TO SEE IF I HAD THE RECALL. THE MANAGER APOLOGIZED AND SAID FOR ME TO TAKE IT IN MONDAY AND HE WOULD HANDLE MY SITUATION. I'M APPALLED THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I HAVE MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME MOST OF THE TIME. I HAD TAKEN MY SUV IN FOR A ROUTINE, ANNUAL INSPECTION AND WAS UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUES AS I HAVE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE COMPLETED ON THE CAR IN ADDITION TO TAKING IT BACK TO FORD TO FIX THE VARIOUS RECALL/SAFETY ITEMS, THE LAST OF WHICH WAS < 6 MONTHS PRIOR. MY MECHANIC CALLED TO ELL ME THE STRUTS AND SHOCKS WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND AT THE POINT OF DISINTEGRATION; THE CAR NOT ONLY WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION WITHOUT A COSTLY REPAIR ($1419.08) BUT PRESENTED AN IMMEDIATE HAZARD TO DRIVE EVEN 2 BLOCKS BACK TO MY HOUSE OR A FEW MILES TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC FURTHER ADVISED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE HE HAS SEEN REPEATEDLY WITH FORDS AT ABOUT THE 5 MARK. HE FURTHER SHARED THAT IN THE LAST CASE WHICH HE HAD TO REPAIR, THE PARTS HAD DISINTEGRATED WHILE THE OWNER WAS DRIVING AND BLEW OUT HIS TIRES. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE DRIVER WAS INJURED OR IF THE VEHICLE CRASHED. I DO KNOW THAT I AM VERY GLAD MY VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE ISSUE IDENTIFIED BEFORE I MET WITH THE SAME FATE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT AT THE DEALER LEVEL, THE REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER, AS WELL AS THE GENERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE BY PHONE AND HAVE EMAILED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE (GENERAL AS WELL AS REGIONAL) AND HAVE ONLY HAD ONE GROUP POINT THE FINGER AT THE OTHER IN TERMS OF WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST. BEYOND THE COST OF REPAIRS, I SEE THIS AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE I HOPE SOMEONE WILL INVESTIGATE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF POOR QUALITY PARTS. I SWITCHED TO MY SPARE KEY, THINKING THE ORIGINAL MIGHT BE WORN. IT DID START EASIER THE FIRST FEW TIMES BUT NOW IT'S BACK TO ALMOST NOT STARTING AT ALL, AND TAKES A FEW TRIES, AGAIN YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE KEY JUST RIGHT OR PUSH JUST EXACTLY FOR IT TO START. IT HAS TAKEN UP TO 15 MINUTES TO GET IT RIGHT SOMETIMES. WHEN THE CAR DOES START THERE IS A BURNING ELECTRICAL SMELL THAT IS EMITTED FROM THE VENTS. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL (14S05) EFFECTIVE JULY 25, 2014. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO GARBER TO HAVE THE RECALL SATISFIED IN AUGUST IN WHICH I BELIEVE CONSISTED OF A CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE. UNTIL THIS SERVICE WE HAD HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING. SHORTLY AFTER THE SERVICE, MY DAUGHTER STARTED HAVING THE PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY GOING OUT. BECAUSE SHE IS A COLLEGE STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA, I LOCATED THE CLOSEST FORD DEALER TO HER LOCATION WHICH IS DON REID FORD IN MAITLAND, FL. I TOOK IT TO THEM SPECIFICALLY TO ADDRESS THE RECALL FAILURE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT DON REID SAID THAT THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN CLOSED OUT AND ANY ADDITIONAL WORK WOULD BE AT REGULAR CHARGE. THEN HE SAID THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD LIKE TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND EITHER RESCHEDULE THE REPAIR OR EVEN HAVE MY DAUGHTER DRIVE IT TO GARBER FOR THE WORK AND TO ADDRESS THE FACT THAT THE SOFTWARE PATCH DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. HIS COMMENT WAS THAT "THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS MATTER AND WOULD NOT ADVISE ANYONE DRIVE THE VEHICLE". I DECIDED IT WAS IN OUR BEST INTEREST TO HAVE THE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED AND TO ADDRESS THE RECALL ISSUE AFTER. THAT IS WHERE WE ARE TODAY. FORD IS REFUSING TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT. I HAVE CALLED AND WRITTEN TO FORD SEVERAL TIMES. THEY EITHER MAKE EXCUSES OR HAVE ME CONTACT SOMEONE ELSE WHO MAKES EXCUSES. MECHANIC TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND NOW ANOTHER ERROR CODE DISPLAYS CODE P2112. P2112 FORD - THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM ERROR. THE MECHANIC IS REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPROGRAMMING THE PCM. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD MY VIN IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY RECALLS FOR P2112. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03, I WAS TOLD MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. WE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO BRINGING IT IN FOR THE RECALL 14S05. NOW AFTER THAT SERVICE WE ARE HAVING SEVERAL PROBLEMS AND I HAVE READ THAT OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS ARE ALSO HAVING THE SAME P2112 ERROR. FORD SHOULD INCLUDE OUR VEHICLE IN THIS PROBLEM AND SEE IF THE OTHER TWO INCIDENTS WE HAVE ARE RELATED SOME HOW. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR THERE WAS AN ABRUPT LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE STEERING BECAME VERY HARD AND MADE IT DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED THROUGHOUT THE LENGTH THE OF THE TRIP. AFTER SEVERAL START UPS AFTER THE VEHICLE WOULD INITIALLY REGAIN POWER STEERING FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF SAY 1/8 OF A MILE AND IT WOULD REVERT BACK TO THE HARD STEERING. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, THEY INFORMED ME OF THE ISSUE AND HOW IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS A CURRENT RECALL, HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THAT RECALL. AFTER SPEAKING WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. WHILE I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER VEHICLES, MY VEHICLE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL SERVICE. *TR

WHEN GAUGES WERE NOT WORKING, A/C WOULD STOP WORKING AS WELL. MOST CONCERNING IS THE LAST TWO DAYS MY CAR HAS STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING IT, I CAN PUT THE GAS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT STILL WON'T ACCELERATE. DURING THAT TIME A/C STOPS BLOWING COOL AIR AND IF I APPLY MY BRAKES THE ENTIRE CAR WILL START TO SHAKE AS IF IT IS GOING TO DIE.
