TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING ABILITY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GOLF MILL FORD (9401 N MILWAUKEE AVE, NILES, IL 60714, (847) 470-9800), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS ISSUE WITH FLAP/FUEL TANK COVER GIVING A ENGINE WARNING LIGHT AND FLAG FOR EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM - KNOWN DEFECTS WITH FORD'S CARS/TRUCKS. DEALER SAYS IT'S PROBABLY A PIPE - FUEL FILLER (PART FOCL8Z-9034-A/B R&R ISSUE BUT LOCAL MECHANICS ALL SAY IT'S THE FLAP/COVER ISSUE/PROBLEM FOR GAS TANKS - A KNOWN FORD DEFECT AND SHOULD'VE BEEN PART OF ALL SIMILAR FORD RECALLS FOR SAME ISSUE/PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER FORD VEHICLES/MODELS. I'M BEING TOLD THIS IS A $600-800 REPAIR BY THE LOCAL DEALER.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING CAUSING SCARY ACTION TO STEER THE CAR.AFTER STOPPING FOR 15 MINUTES OR LONGER THE CAR CAN C=BE CRANKED AGAIN AND THE POWER STEERING IS RESTORED.I HAVE WRITTEN THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO EXPLAIN THIS TROUBLE AND THEY HAVE DENIED MY REQUEST TO HAVE IT FIXED UNDER THE SAME RECALL THE 2008-2011 ESCAPE OWNERS HAVE ENJOYED TO GET THIS TERRIBLE SAFETY ISSUE TO BE CORRECTED.MANY, MANY OTHER 2012 FORD ESCAPE OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND THE INTERNET SITES ARE FULL OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS.THIS IS VERY TROUBLING TO ME...
RECALL 16V-777 INITIAL COMMUNICATION 2017 HAVE CALLED DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS FORD DIRECT. NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND CANNOT ADVISE WHEN THEY MAY BE.
POWER STEERING WHEEL LOCKING, WHEN MAKING TURNS WHILE DRIVING. STEERING WHEEL LOCKS ON AND OFF, TO GET IT TO UNLOCK OR BACK TO NORMAL HANDLING, I HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A SAFELY MANNER, PUT CAR ON PARK TURN ENGINE OFF, THEN RESTART CAR AND THE STEERING WHEEL WORKS AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE TAKING MY CAR TO FORD DEALER AND SEE HOE THEY CAN HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS IT SEEMS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM WITH 2008-12 FORD ESCAPES.
MY CARS STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, AND BECOMES HARD TO STEER! ITS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!
WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 50-55 MPH ON A HIGHWAY THE HOOD FLEW UP AND HIT THE WINDSHIELD WITHOUT WARNING. THIS WAS AFTER DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS IN VARIOUS HIGHWAY CONDITIONS. THE SAFETY LATCH FAILED TO CATCH IT. SMOOTH ROAD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAMEROW FORD (12325 SW CANYON RD, BEAVERTON, OR 97005, 800-732-8633) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A STEERING SENSOR FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
2 ISSUES. REAR WINDOW LEAK AND SHORTED OUT THE MTOR TO ALLOW THE LIFT GATE TO OPERATE, REMAINS SHUT. SECOND ISSUE, REAR WIPER MOTOR OVERHEATS AND BURNED OUT. MOTOR CONTINUES TO RECEIVE ELECTRICITY AND OVERHEATS WHICH COULD CAUSE A FIRE HAZARD

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOU FUSZ FORD (2 CAPRICE DR, CHESTERFIELD, MO 63005, (636) 532-9955) WHERE THEY SUGGESTED REPAIRING THE POWER BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,085.
2012 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO STALLING ISSUES. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT NO FAILURE COULD BE FOUND. *JS
I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH; DRIVING STRAIGHT WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE I HAD RAN SOMETHING. THE VEHICLE SOUNDED LIKE A RUBBER BAND UNWINDING AND BEGAN VIBRATING SEVERELY AT RIGHT FRONT. IT APPEARED I MIGHT LOSE CONTROL. I DE-ACCELERATED AND SAFELY EXITED THE HIGHWAY. I COULD SEE NOTHING WRONG WHEN VISIBLY INSPECTING THE VEHICLE. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED A DAMAGED CV BOOT, CV JOINT AND THREE FRACTURED BOLTS FOR THE UPPER ENGINE MOUNT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. TWO OF FRACTURE SURFACES APPEARED THEY HAD BEEN FRACTURED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. THE THIRD BOLT HAD A FRACTURE SURFACE THAT WAS ROUGH AND CRYSTALLINE IN APPEARANCE ) ALLUDING TO INSTANTANEOUS FRACTURE OF THE BOLT.
UPON LEAVING WORK ON JULY 31ST 2018 I NOTICED AN ODD SMELL AS I APPROACHED MY 2012 FORD ESCAPE LIMITED. UPON GETTING CLOSER TO THE CAR I NOTICED THE SMELL WAS GAS. I WAS ALARMED THINKING MY VEHICLE MAY NOT START OR COULD POSSIBLY EXPLODE IF I TRIED. WHEN OPENING THE DOOR THE SMELL WAS UNBEARABLE. AFTER CALLING MY SON HE SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY GENERATION FORD FOR A CRACKING FUEL PUMP. HE SAID IT WILL BE SAFE TO START BUT WILL BE LEAKING GAS EVERYWHERE SO KEEP AN EYE ON THE GAUGE. AFTER STARTING THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE GAS LEVEL WAS ALMOST 1/2 A TANK LOWER THAN WHEN I ARRIVED JUST 8 HOURS BEFORE. I ROLLED ALL FOUR WINDOWS DOWN AND DROVE THE CAR THE SHOP I'VE BEEN VISITING AND TRUST. THEY TOOK MY VEHICLE IN ON AUGUST 1ST 2018 AND SAID THAT THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT. AFTER DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM THEY DISCOVERED IT THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED. WITH ONLY 31,000 MILES. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO REACH THE DEALER AND THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL ISSUED BY NHTSA. THIS VEHICLE SEEMS TO FALL IN EVERY CATEGORY OTHER THAN A SEVEN MONTH DIFFERENCE ON THE BUILD NUMBER. FORD SAID THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME IN RECOVERING MY MONEY FOR A RECALL THAT IS ON THE SAME YEAR MAKE MODEL AND TRIM LEVEL.
VEHICLE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON I575 ON-RAMP WHEN THE HOOD FLEW OPEN AND SLAMMED AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD, CRACKING THE WINDSHIELD IN MULTIPLE PLACES AND BLOCKING ALL FORWARD VISIBILITY. THE HOOD DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF BEING UNLATCHED, SUCH AS RATTLING, PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE SAFETY LATCH DID NOT STOP THE MOVEMENT OF THE HOOD. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MOVE THE VEHICLE TO THE BREAK-DOWN LANE AND AVOID A COLLISION WITH MERGING TRAFFIC. THE HOOD WAS SEVERELY BENT BUT WAS ABLE TO BE SECURED SUFFICIENTLY TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME.

COURTESY FORD (6393 US-98 W, HATTIESBURG, MS 39402, (601) 264-5555) WAS AWARE THAT THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED AN UNKNOWN RECALL CAMPAIGN TO ADDRESS THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO REMEDY FOR SPECIAL COVERAGE CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13N03 (THROTTLE BODY EXTENDED COVERAGE). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED BECAUSE THE MILEAGE EXCEEDED 8,000. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR FLOW SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS REPLACED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED; HOWEVER, BOTH REPAIRS FAILED TO PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER EXPECTED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LOSE SPEED AND THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT IT COULD STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE...*BF CONSUMER ASKED THE MANUFACTURER FOR TECHNICAL GUIDELINES FOR THE CAMPAIGN #13N03 AND WAS TOLD CONSUMER WOULDN'T GET WHAT WAS NEEDED. THROTTLE REPLACED. *JB
DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELDS RUSTING OUT AND UP TOWARD THE WINDOW .
I EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 FORD ESCAPE ON JULY 7, 2018 WHILE DRIVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE BY USING THE BRAKES AND CRASHED INTO A NEIGHBOR'S MAILBOX. I FINALLY SHUT OFF THE CAR TO MAKE IT STOP.
STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT WHILE DRIVING ON HWY AT 65 MPH . TOOK TO NEAREST SHOP . NO LIGHTS CAME ON DASH . WHEN ARRIVED AT SHOP STEERING WAS IN POSSIBLE . REPLACED SENSOR . STEERING WHEEL WOULD SPIN OUT OF CONTROL ON OWN . ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN
VEHICLE HAS HARD DOWN SHIFTS JERKING WHEN ACCELERATING HAS BEEN IN SHOP TWICE GOING AGAIN ON 6-27-18 AFTER ABOUT 150 MILES OF DRIVING IS WHEN THIS OCCURS
THE STEERING COLUMN FREEZES WITHOUT WARNING WHILE TURNING IN MOTION. CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NOT COMPLETE A FULL TURN.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR ALERT REMAINS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SHUT TIGHT AND LOCKED. UPON PLACING KEY IN IGNITION DINGING IS CONSTANT AND DOOR ICON STAYS ON. WHEN LOCKING VEHICLE UPON EXITING WITH REMOTE IT DOUBLE BEEPS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY LIT. WHEN LOCKING DOORS WITH POWER LOCKS FROM INSIDE VEHICLE THEY AUTOMATICALLY POP BACK UNLOCKED. DOOR LATCH IS FINE. DOOR WILL SHUT AND LOCK THROUGH MANUAL MEANS. SENSOR IS MISREADING ACTIONS AND CAUSING SAFETY ISSUE WITH UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS WHILE DRIVING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO OFFER ASSISTANCE OR SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHILE DRIVING, EVERYTHING CUT OFF. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE, THE POWER STEERING TURNED OFF, AND I HAD TO TRY AND SAFELY PULL OVER. LUCKILY, EACH TIME I WAS IN A POSITION WHERE I COULD PULL OVER SAFELY. RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND UNBELIEVABLY DANGEROUS!!! PLEASE FORD, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE AND NO CODE CAN BE FOUND AND EVERYTHING PASSES THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. WHAT CAN BE DONE??

MADE A COMPLETE STOP AT AN INTERSECTION AND EXPERIENCED A TOTAL LOST OF POWER STEERING. CAN'T DRIVE VEHICLE, CAN'T STEER IT.

VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JAN 2018 BUT THE FORD DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN THE PARTS NECESSARY TO MAKE THE REPAIR AS OF 5/8/18. THE RECALL STATES A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE INCREASES THE RISK OF A FIRE SO I AM VERY CONCERNED HAVING TO DRIVE MY AUTOMOBILE. TODAY I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NO IDEA IF/WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GET THE PARTS IN.
IN AN ACCIDENT WITH FRONT END DAMAGE AND AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY.
PURCHASED CAR USED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. HAVE HAD VERY HARD SHIFTS 1-->2, BUT TRANSMISSION WAS CHECKED AT TIME OF PURCHASE AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS OK. AT TIME OF PURCHASE CAR HAD ABOUT 30K MILES ON IT. IT NOW HAS 51K MILES. SHIFT IS NOW EXTREMELY HARD 1->2, 2->1. CAR GOT STUCK AND WOULD ONLY GO IN REVERSE LAST WEEK AND I ENDED UP STUCK ON A RAMP IN A PARKING GARAGE. I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR TO DRIVE FORMWARD AND IT TOOK 5-6 TRIES. CAR WAS THEN STUCK IN FIRST GEAR FOR ABOUT 2 MILES, THEN SUDDENLY SHIFTED AND WAS NORMAL. IT HAS LOST ALL FORWARD MOTION AT TIMES SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET, CAR UNABLE TO SHIFT. NOW NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION WITH ONLY 51K MILES ON THE CAR. IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND IS DRIVEN VERY LIGHTLY. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO HAVE A CAR COME OUT OF GEAR (?) WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC.
EVAPORATION SYSTEM LEAK OCCURRED AND FUEL TANK PIPE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. CAR DID NOT START AND NEEDED TO BE TOWED.
TAKATA RECALL- HAD A RECALL ON THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE FLANGE REPLACED AND HAVING ISSUES STARTING , LONG CRANKING ISSUES. FORD DEALER REFUSED TO BELIEVE THAT THE TECHNICIAN DIDN'T INSTALL IT PROPERLY. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES ON IT UNTIL AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. I BELIEVE THE TECHNICIAN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED THE PART AND NOW EVERY TIME I START MY VEHICLE IT HAS LONG CRANKING ISSUES. I'M WORRIED IT MIGHT MESS WITH MY STARTER OR FUEL PUMP.

HOOD LATCH FAILURE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STRAIGHT ROAD AT 55MPH AND THE HOOD JUST FLEW OPEN. MY VIEW WAS OBSTRUCTED BY THE HOOD. THE HOOD WAS LAST OPENED APPROXIMATELY 3000 MILES BEFORE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE HOOD IS BENT TO THE POINT IT WILL NOT CLOSE AND THE WINDSHIELD IS SEVERELY CRACKED.
I HAD A RECALL ON MY TRUCK THAT I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL ABOUT A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AND I TRIED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER AND COULDN'T GET THROUGH TO NEITHER LOCATIONS
AT APPROX. 46,000 MI. MY ESCAPE BEGAN CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO WARNING AND NO RHYME OR REASON. AFTER COASTING TO SAFETY (SO FAR) I CAN RESTART AND CONTINUE. NO TROUBLE LIGHT COME ON EXCEPT THE WRENCH WHILE IT IS HAPPENING. AT FIRST IT ONLY HAPPENED EVERY FEW WEEKS OR SO. FORD DEALER SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT PROBLEM IS UNLESS IT IS HAPPENING! NOW IT IS HAPPENING ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE. THIS IS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. I HAVE INSTRUCTIONS AND DOCUMENTATION FOR MY DAUGHTER IN CASE I AM KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED BECAUSE I AM THAT AFRAID. I CAN'T AFFORD EXPENSIVE REPAIRS ON A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 49,000 MILES. FORD CAN'T EVEN TELL ME WHAT IT IS! THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED ON AN INTERSTATE @ 70 MPH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO NEIGHBORHOOD AT 2 MPH. I HAVEN'T HAD AN ACCIDENT YET BUT AM CERTAIN IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. WHILE HAVING IT SERVICED AT FORD DEALER YESTERDAY I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A 110.00 TO HOOK IT TO COMPUTER BUT THEY MAY NOT TELL THEM WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH DAUGHTER IN COLLEGE AND CAN'T AFFORD TO GAMBLE 110.00. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE. I PAID FOR A 76,000 MI WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BUT WAS TOLD IT EXPIRED IN JUNE OF 2017. PLEASE HELP!

CALL BACK IN TWO WEEKS PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. CALL FORD HEADQUARTERS THEY SAY THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING I HAVE TO CALL ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. I ASK THEM WHY THEY CAN'T SEND PARTS TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THEY ARE INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND THEY HAVE NO CONTROL ON THEIR PARTS. I ASK SHOULD MY DEALERSHIP BE ASKING FOR MORE PARTS? THEY CANNOT ANSWER THAT - THEIR ONLY SOLUTION IS FOR ME TO FIND ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP AND SEE IF THEY HAVE THE PARTS. MEANWHILE I HAVE A CAR THAT MAY HAVE A FUEL SUPPLY PORT CRACK WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FIRE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER, BUT UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,992. THERE IS FUEL LEAKING OUT FROM THE RECALLED LOCATION PART. FORD AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP ARE WAITING ON BACKORDERED PARTS WITH NO ETA FOR NEARLY 8 WEEKS SINCE WE FIRST REPORTED THE LEAK ON MARCH 5, 2018. THEY HAVE OFFERED NO LOANER CAR AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT EVEN SEEN THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY DON'T EXPECT TO HAVE THE PART ANYTIME SOON. THE CAR IS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY DRYING OUT MEANWHILE I AM MAKING PAYMENTS ON A CAR THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN OR REPAIRED. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL PHONE CALLS TO BOTH FORD MOTOR COMPANY WITH THE ORIGINAL CASE NUMBER CAS-14437322-W6L8V8 DEALING WITH ROBERTA WEBB, FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER. MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND HAVE SPOKEN SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER AT SHAKER FORD IN WATERTOWN, CT WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED. I FEEL AS IF THIS ISSUE IS BEING MISHANDLED AND REDIRECTED AND THAT IT IS TAKING FAR TOO LONG TO REACH A REASONABLE RESOLUTION.
