EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!! THIS VEHICLE WILL, WITHOUT WARNING, LOSE POWER. THE ENGINE DOES NOT SHUTDOWN, BUT IT LOSES POWER AS MINIMAL FUEL IS GETTING TO ENGINE. STEERING NOT LOST, ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SEEM OK, BUT NO RESPONSE WHEN STEPPING ON ACCELERATOR. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS, RANDOM TIMES WITHOUT WARNING OR REGARD TO ANY CONDITIONS I CAN DETERMINE (WEATHER, SPEED, AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK, TRAFFIC CONDITIONS). THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHERE YOU SOMEHOW HAVE TO STEER CAR OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC GOING 60+ MPH! THIS COULD CAUSE A HUGE ACCIDENT AND EVEN LEAD TO SOME DEATHS - IT IS VERY UNNERVING! THE ISSUE ALSO HAPPENS AT OTHER TIMES, NON-HIGHWAY DRIVING, SOMETIMES WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, EVEN JUST PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY! IT IS RANDOM AND WITHOUT WARNING. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THIS VEHICLE AND ANY VEHICLE THAT MAY WRECK INTO IT DUE TO THIS ISSUE. WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN, THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATES, BUT THERE IS NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR. THUS FAR, IF THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN PARK, TURNED OFF, THEN RESTARTED, IT USUALLY RESTARTS - UNTIL THE NEXT RANDOM TIME IT OCCURS. IT SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY OR SOMETHING IN THAT PATH. THERE IS SPACE FOR ONLY ONE OCCURRENCE OF THIS, BUT THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 20 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 WEEKS. MECHANIC CANNOT FIND ANY CODES IN THE ARCHIVE, SO THEY CAN'T FIX IT. ONE OTHER THING, THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES UNEXPECTEDLY SURGE WHEN ACCELERATING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY; HOWEVER, THEY OFFERED TO PERFORM BRAKE MAINTENANCE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THIS WAS THE CONTACT'S SECOND ATTEMPT TO GET THE REMEDY REPAIRED BY MODERN FORD OF BOONE (300 NEW MARKET BLVD, BOONE, NC). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR COULD NOT BE PERFORMED BECAUSE THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMING THE RECALL REMEDY HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

THE DEALER STATED THAT NO MORE OF THESE RECALLS WOULD BE REPAIRED UNTIL FORD AGREED TO PAY FOR A FUEL PUMP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY WITH MY VIN #, MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE THAT MAY DEVELOP A CRACK IN THE FUEL SUPPLY TANK. I CALL THE NEAREST FORD DEALER TODAY AND THE RECEPTIONIST SAID THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART AND I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I GET A POST CARD FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME, NOW I'M WRITING A COMPLAINT. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS CHECKED OUT OR REPLACED ASAP. GOD FORBID ANYTHING SHOULD HAPPEN. MAKE THIS RIGHT!

THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT DOES NOT TIGHTEN ACROSS MY CHEST. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I'M PUTTING MYSELF IN DANGER EVERY TIME I RIDE IN THE CAR.

THE FIRST TIME MY POWER STEERING FAILED WAS ON JANUARY 27TH 2018 WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY (696) GOING 75 MPH. I CALLED MY FORD SERVICE CENTER THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY AND WAS TOLD MY CAR HAD ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND THAT "GLITCHES HAPPEN". IN 128 DAYS, THE POWER STEERING FAILED 30 TIMES (I STOPPED KEEPING TRACK AFTER JUNE 4TH BUT IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN). EVERY TIME IT FAILED, IF I RESTARTED MY CAR, THE POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN. 10 OF THE 30 TIMES OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING, THE REST OCCURRED AT THE START OF THE ENGINE. THE TIMES IT HAPPENED AT THE START OF THE ENGINE, 5 OF THE TIMES IT FAILED TWO TIMES IN A ROW. SOME TIMES AT LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS AND SOME TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN. SOMETIMES THE WEATHER WAS COLD (10 BELOW), SOME TIMES HOT (90 DEGREES). SOME DAYS THERE WAS PRECIPITATION AND OTHER TIMES IT WAS DRY. TRY AVOIDING POTHOLES ON MICHIGAN SURFACE STREETS WHEN YOUR POWER STEERING GOES OUT! SOME TIMES I WAS 10 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE AND OTHER TIMES IT HAPPENED AFTER DRIVING 2 HOURS. (I HAVE VERY SPECIFIC DOCUMENTATION ON ALL 30 OCCASIONS BUT DIDN'T HAVE THE CHARACTERS). WHEN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND THAT THIS WAS THE EXACT POWER STEERING FAILURE THAT ALL OF THE FORD ESCAPE MODELS HAD PRIOR TO 2012. THEY HAVE BEEN RECALLED. MY CAR, A 2012, WAS FABRICATED IN JUNE OF 2011 AND HAS THE SAME POWER STEERING FAILURES AS THE PREVIOUS YEARS. I ONLY AM CURIOUS AS TO HOW MY 2012 COULD BE ANY DIFFERENT THAN A YEAR THAT WAS RECALLED. I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED 3 DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES OF FORD AND NOT ONE OF THEM WERE ABLE TO GIVE OUT AN SPECIFIC INFORMATION OF THE RECALL FOR THE OTHER MODEL YEARS.

LAST TIME LESS THAN AN HOUR AGO 3/11/18 12:15 PM. ONLY EXCUSES, NO SOLUTION!! FILLED MY ESCAPE YESTERDAY, DROVE ABOUT 5 MILES AND WAS ALREADY DOWN TO 3/4 OF A TANK. WASTING $$ AND NOT VERY SAFE -- I.E. RISK OF FIRE!! WANT IT FIXED ASAP!!!

SINCE JAN. 2018, WHEN I RECEIVED MY RECALL NOTICE, AND DESPITE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS TO MY FORD DEALER AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, FORD HAS NOT SUPPLIED THE PARTS TO FIX MY RECALL. THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION AND NO EXPLANATION OF A REASONABLE TIME FRAME THAT I CAN HAVE THIS REPAIR DONE! SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE!! MY FUEL MODULE MAY CRACK AND CAUSE A FIRE!!!!
I LOSE FUEL ACCORDING TO MY GAGE AT AN ALARMING RATE. IT WILL GO FROM 212 MILES TO 199 AND I'VE DRIVEN MAYBE A QUARTER BLOCK.

WHILE THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD AN ACTIVE RECALL NOTICE SINCE JANUARY 2018, THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNWILLING/UNABLE TO SECURE THE PART TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IN THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE. RECALL NOTICE 16S41 / NHTSA 16V-777
I GOT THE NOTICE FOR THE RECALL. I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP FERMAN FORD AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN PART CAME IN. I CALLED BACK ASKING THEM AND THEY STATED THAT FORD ONLY SENDS RECALL ITEMS WHEN THEY WANT AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO CONTROL OVER IT. I CALLED FORD HEAD OFFICE THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL DIAGNOSED. I TOLD THEM IT IS A RECALL. THEY STATED THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING TILL DIAGNOSED. I STILL DON'T HAVE THE RECALL DONE. I NEED HELP I GETTING THIS DONE FOR MY CAR.
AT RANDOM POINTS IN TIME WHEN CAR IS ON, DOESNT MATTER WHAT SPEED, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND IS UNABLE TO BE MOVED UNTILL CAR IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. I JUST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT YESTERDAY IN BRATTLEBORO VT WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FOR XMAS FROM COLLEGE WHEN I WENT RIGHT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND INTO A SNOWBANK. AIRBAGS WENT OFF AND NOBODY WAS HURT AND LUCKLY I DIDNT HIT ANY OTHER CARS OR PROPERTY. CAR IS BEING TOWED BACK HOME TO A MECHANIC. I HAD GONE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP A FEW WEEKS AGO WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE, IN MY DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEEDS, AND AFTER PAYING A $100 DIAGNOSIS FEE, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THAT I WAS IMAGINING THINGS. I'VE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH SINCE THEN AND THERE ARE A LOT OF RECALLS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES BUT NOT ON THE 2012 MODEL.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 FORD ESCAPE ON MY TOWN STREETS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND WAITED AWHILE AND RESTORED THE VEHICLE. JUST AS SUDDENLY AS IT OCCURRED THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO MY DESTINATION. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE POWER STEERING. MY FORD DEALERSHIP HAS LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM AND SAYS THAT THEIR COMPUTER CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, THEREFORE, NO REPAIRS ARE REQUIRED.

I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY, SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 16S41. THE DEALER, SERRAMONTE FORD, HAS NOT RESPONDED TO MY REQUEST TO DO THE NECESSARY REPAIR. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT SINCE I FIRST RECEIVED THE NOTICE IN DECEMBER 2017.
BRAKES FAILED AND ENDED UP GOING THROUGH CROSS TRAFFIC AT AN INTERSECTION. AFTER $4990 AND A FULL MONTH AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, IT WAS FOUND THE HCU HAD A LEAKING SEAL AND WOULD INTERMITTENTLY DISABLE THE BRAKES!

I HAVE HAD 3 SERIOUS INCIDENTS WITH THE FORD ESCAPE 2012. FIRST, TWICE THE CAR HAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I WAS THANKFULLY DRIVING AT ONLY ABOUT 30-40 MPH AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, WHICH SEEMED TO HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. VARIOUS MECHANICS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT FIXED IT. SECOND, ON 11/11/17, I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WAITING TO TURN LEFT ON A MAJOR ROAD, AND UPON ACCELERATING AND TURNING, THE POWER STEERING SEEMED TO GO OUT ON ME. IT BECAME MUCH HARDER TO STEER. I PULLED OVER ON A SIDE ROAD AND AGAIN TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, WHICH AGAIN SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY ONLINE FORUMS WHERE THESE TWO ISSUES ARE BEING REPORTED BY MANY OWNERS WITH THE SAME RESULT. MECHANICS CAN'T SEEM TO RECREATE THE PROBLEMS AND THEREFOR CAN'T OFFER A FIX AT THE MOMENT. THESE 3 INCIDENTS THANKFULLY DID NOT CAUSE ANY INJURY, BUT THEY EASILY COULD AND SEE TO BE SERIOUS DEFECTS THAT ARE GOING UNADDRESSED.
THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE HAS BEEN RECALLED ON MY VEHICLE. I HAVE CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED. I HAD AN APPOINTMENT AT THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER TO HAVE IT REPLACED, AND WHEN I ARRIVED FOR THE APPOINTMENT I WAS INFORMED AFTER I SHOWED UP THAT THEY NO LONGER HAD THE PART. I HAVE AGAIN CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN AND THERE STATE THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART.
STARTED LAST YEAR . PROBLEM OCCUR FORWARD OR BACKING UP. STEERING WILL BECOME HEAVY AND TURNING TO THE RIGHT. WHILE DRIVING STEERING WHEEL WILL GET LOCKED AND THE CAR WILL SIMULTINEOULY STOP BUT ENGINE STAYS ON. I WILL HAVE TO TURN THE CAR TO OFF AND TURN BACK TO ON. THEN I RESUME DRIVING UNTIL IT WILL OCCUR AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR SINCE I FEEL IT IS DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALER THEY DECLINED ANY RECALLS. THEY CLAIMED RECALLS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THE PRIOR YEAR 2011. THE COST TO REPAIR COULD BE UP TO $1300 AS AN ESTIMATE BASED ON THE SYMBOL DIAGNOSIS CODE THAT APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. STRTED A YEAR AGO WITH MILEAGE AROUND 135,000 AND CONTINUE TILL TODATE . WHEEL BEARING WERE EXCHANGED BY OTHER REPAIR SHOPS UNKOWING TO ME OF THE RECALL.

THE LOCAL DEALER (TED BRITT FORD IN FAIRFAX, VA) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SUDDEN DECLERATION AND STALL WHILE IN HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON HIGHWAY, LIKELY DUE TO ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB) ISSUE. VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE.

THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING OR TURNING, MY STEERING WHEEL HAS LOCKED IN MY 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THIS MORNING IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY KIDS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ENTERING AND EXITING THE PARKING LOT. BOTH TIMES, I HAD TO STRUGGLE WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP FROM HITTING OTHER CARS. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE WHERE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2012 MODELS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE.

IN MOTION - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, REPLACED 02 SENSOR UPSTREAM. GETTING 8 MPG AFTERWARDS. TOOK IT BACK TO SERVICE DEPT AND NO CODES PRESENT, LIVE DATA SHOWED PURGE SOLENOID WOULD STICK OPEN SOMETIMES, REPLACED SOLENOID, NOW GETTING 12 MPG, MORE RATTLE NOISE IN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER; $700.00 AND NO BETTER THAN IT WAS.
THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REDUCES SPEED CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL! AT ANY GIVEN TIME, THE CAR STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR HIGHWAY AND WHILE HOLDING UP TRAFFIC, I TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE CAR RESUMES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MUST BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY!
