TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN A DRIVEWAY AND IT STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RE-ENTER THE VEHICLE TO STOP IT WHILE IT WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS AND WAS KNOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED TRAILER IN A YARD ACROSS THE STREET. THE CONTACT HAD SCRAPES ON HIS ARMS AND LEGS AND RECEIVED TREATMENT FOR INJURIES TO HIS SHOULDER, ARM AND BACK. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED BY AN AMBULANCE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AFTER HE WAS DIAGNOSED AT AN URGENT CARE CENTER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE AND PARKED BACK IN THE CONTACT'S DRIVEWAY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE ISSUE MAY BE WITH THE BUSHING CABLE NOT ALLOWING HIS VEHICLE TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THUS ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL. THE VIN TOOL SHOWED NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF WITH NO WARNING WHILE I AM DRIVING. I WILL BE DOING 45 MILES PER HOUR AND THE CAR WILL TURN OFF. TURNING INTO TRAFFIC IT WILL STALL TOO.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHILE IN MOTION OR IDLE RATE, THE FLUID PRESSURE REGULATOR TO LOW WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FLUID PRESSURE SYSTEM UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED 3 ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE REPLACED HIS OIL SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V431000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. AUTONATION FORD UNION CITY SERVICE CENTER 4355 JONESBORO ROAD, UNION CITY, GA 30291 (770) 674-6075 WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER THE CONTACT DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH ANYONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
WHEN I WENT TO HAVE A TIRE REPLACED MY LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN. ALL LUG NUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED.

REPLACE PURGE VALVE ECO BOOST ENGINE CODE # P1450. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT IS A SAFETY/EMISSIONS ISSUE AND SHOULD NOT FAIL. THIS IS IN FOR REPEAT RECALL FOR FAULTY DOOR LATCH.
MY VEHICLE WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE. I SPOKE TO FORD AND THE SAID THIS HAS A RECALL CALLED THE TRANSMISSION CABLE BRUSH. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS VIN NUMBER ASSIGNED. I'M HAVING THE VERY PROBLEM ASSOCIATE WITH THE RECALL BUT THEY WANT FIX IT.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS AN ANTIFREEZE LEAK SOMEWHERE. THE MECHANIC AT INDEPENDENCE FORD CANNOT FIND THE LEAK. THE ANTIFREEZE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. WE HAVE BEEN REPLACING COILS RANDOMLY 1 THROUGH 4. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. THE ONLY CODE THAT COMES UP ARE THE CODES FOR THE COILS. HOW CAN THEY COILS BE BAD WHEN WE JUST REPLACED THEM AGAIN.
THE COOLANT LEAK RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE MY BUILD DATE BUT I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS WHAT THE RECALL FOR THE LOOSE FREEZE PLUG HAS.

UPON OPENING THE HOOD, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW AND WAS TOPPED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A LEAK. THE CONTACT CALLED KOONS FALLS CHURCH FORD (1051 E BROAD ST, FALLS CHURCH, VA 22044 HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE OCCASIONALLY GOES INTO "LIMP MODE" AKA "FAIL-SAFE MODE" WHEN I AM DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE- WE NEARLY CRASHED AS WE TRIED TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THIS HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES SINCE THEN AND WE ARE FEARFUL OF DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC, WHEN I TRY TO PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL MY CAR DOESN'T RESPOND AND IT WILL ONLY ACCELERATE UP TO 10-15MPH.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,306.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while reversing from a parking space, the steering wheel seized and became inoperable on several occasions without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with an internal steering gear failure. The mechanic retrieved fault code: U3000: 49-48. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

FORD LATCH RECAL SELF INSPECTION SITE , IS UNAVAILABLE TO CHECK IF LATCHES HAVE BEEN DONE .
WITHOUT WARNING, MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP SAYING ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW. I'VE TAKEN IT IN MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY HAVE A THROTTLE STUCK OPEN CODE THAT SHOWS AND THEY CLEAR IT EACH TIME. NOT 3 MIN AFTER LEAVING THE SHOP, IT DIES AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS AS I HAVE BEEN ON MAJOR ROADS WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED. EVERYTHING STAYS RUNNING BUT I HAVE ZERO GAS PEDAL POWER. I COAST INTO A SAFE PLACE AND TURN IT OFF AND START IT BACKUP FOR IT TO HAPPEN ALL OVER AGAIN. SHOP HAS RUN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE SAME CODE COMING UP. IF I'M CROSSING AN INTERSECTION AND ANOTHER CAR IS COMING AT ME, I'D BE HIT WITHOUT A DOUBT. IT'S INSTANTANEOUS, NO WARNING AND VERY RANDOM. THERE IS NOTHING IN PARTICULAR HAPPENING THAT I CAN ATTRIBUTE IT TO.
2013 FORD ESCAPE 1.6 AWD. THE CAR PRESENTED A "WHIRING" TYPE OF SOUND FOR A FEW DAYS WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT AND THE STEERING FAULT MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASH. I PARKED THE CAR AND LEFT IT ALONE FOR A FEW DAYS UNTIL I NEEDED TO MOVE IT. UPON ATTEMPTING TO MOVE THE VEHICLE THE STEERING GEAR WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS JUST NOTIFIED THE STEERING GEAR WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED AND REPLACING IT WOULD BE JUST UNDER $2300. THIS IS MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS VEHICLE AND I COULD NOT IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF SHE WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS OCCURRED. LUCKILY IT FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE IT WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY BUT AS A DAILY DRIVER VEHICLE FOR MY DAUGHTER THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY PROBLEM.
STRONG SMELL OF GAS OUTSIDE AND INSIDE CAR...BROUGHT TO LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY THE FUEL PIPE HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $170.00 I THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR 2013 FORD ESCAPE BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL THIS WARRANTS FURTHER INVESTIGATION
VEHICLE DROVE ABOUT 8 HOURS STRAIGHT, THEN SHOWED A MESSAGE STATING 'ENGINE FAULT: SERVICE NOW' WITHOUT ANY CODES OR OTHER LIGHTS SUCH AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT SHOWN ANY OTHER ISSUE, AND THE MESSAGE WILL DISAPPEAR AND REAPPEAR EVERY TIME YOU TURN OFF/START THE VEHICLE. ALSO, VEHICLE LEAKS COOLANT HORRIBLY. I'VE HAD THIS FIXED TWICE AND THE PLUG WILL DISLODGE ITSELF AND LEAK MORE COOLANT. I'VE PROBABLY PUT OVER 30 GALLONS OF COOLANT IN TOTAL IN THE PAST 3 YEARS.
MY FORD ESCAPE 2013 SAID IT WAS OVER HEATING AND IT LEFT ME ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND THE CODE TURNED OUT TO BE THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR MISFIRING. SENSOR WAS CHANGED, TWO DAYS LATER I DROVE MY CAR AND IT LEFT ME ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN, STATED IT WAS THE SAME ISSSUE. PAID FOR A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT AT FORD AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IVE HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED, BOTH THERMOSTATS, WATER PUMP HAS BEEN CHANGED, BUT CAR KEEPS SAYING IS THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR. I DID READ THERE WAS A RECAL ON THE FORD ESCAPE 2013 DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE AND A SYSTEM UPDATE NEEDS TO BE DONE, HOWEVER FORD DOES NOT HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF IT.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V583000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000.
IT WILL CHUG THEN STALL WHEN STOPPED. I HAVE TO START IT, REV THE ENGINE DROP IT INTO NEUTRAL, REV IT AGAIN AND DROP INTO DRIVE TO GET MOVING AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT STALLS NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO MOVE.
UNSAFE ALMOST HIT BY HUGE TRUCK ON HEAVILY TRAFFICKED AREA. VEHICLE WAS DRIVING NORMAL AND SUDDENLY THE CAR LUNGED, SPUTTERED, STALLED DROVE 5-8 MPH THE SCREEN DISPLAYED ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW. I SAW TWICE THIS HAS BEEN A RECALL. MY YOUNG CHILD AND I WERE IN THE CAR GOING 45MPH BEFORE THE OCCURRENCE SCARING US BOTH. AFTER SHUTTING OFF VEHICLE CALLED AND WAS TOLD TO RESTART CAR TO CHECK CODE NO SCREEN ERROR DISPLAYED AND CAR HAD NO ISSUE FOR MECHANIC LOOKING AT IT. STILL VERY CONCERNED AS I TRAVEL EVERYDAY WITH MY CHILD AND GO OUT OF TOWN TO CANCER CLINIC TO TAKE PATIENTS TO APPOINTMENTS I CAN NOT HAVE THAT ISSUE TAKING THEM.
VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN WITH NO OTHER ISSUES OR NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN VEHICLE PERFORMANCE/OPERATION. HAD CODE READ AT AUTO PARTS STORE AND DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS P0303; CYLINDER #3 MISFIRE DETECTED. HAD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSE, AND DISCOVERED A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK ALLOWING COOLANT TO LEAK IN TO #3 CYLINDER. THIS WAS 3 MONTHS AFTER DEALERSHIP TROUBLESHOT A COOLANT ISSUE AND CHARGED TO REPLACE THE COOLANT PUMP DUE TO IT LEAKING.
WHILE I WAS LEAVING WORK, IN MY PARKING LOT, I GOT AN ALERT TONE AND ON THE DISPLAY IT SAID "STEERING ASSIST FAULT", I HAD NEVER GOT THAT BEFORE, MY CAR HAS ABOUT 64K MILES, I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE BACKWARDS AND TURNING MY WHEEL AND THE STEERING WAS VERY HEAVY AND WOULD BARELY MOVE, I DROVE THE CAR FORWARD BACK INTO THE PARKING SPOT, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE WAITED A MINUTE AND THE PROBLEM. I WENT ONLINE AND I FOUND OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT THEIR PROBLEM HAPPENED ON THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC, I HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE DEALER YET, BUT I'M SURE I WILL. A RECALL NEEDS TO CREATED ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH A COOLANT LEAK AND ALL OF THE MECHANICS I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO CAN NOT FIND THE LEAK. I'VE HAD HOSES REPLACED AND WASTED SO MUCH MONEY JUST TO KEEP HAVING THE SAME PROMISE.
I HAVE HAD MANY ISSUES WITH MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE AND IT SEEMS EVERYTHING THAT KEEPS HAPPENING IS A RECALL BUT FOR SOME REASON NEVER APPLIES TO MY VEHICLE. MY FORD STALLED FOR THE FIRST TIME A FEW MONTHS AGO. I WAS AT AN EVENT THAT I MADE IT TO WITH NO ISSUES. IT SAT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES. WHEN I TRIED TO LEAVE, IT WOULDN'T TURN ON. I SAT IN THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES UNTIL IT FINALLY STARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY. EVER SINCE THIS, IT HAS BEEN STALLING EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. SOMETIMES IT WILL START AND I CAN DRIVE A FEW YARDS AWAY BEFORE IT STALLS AND I AM FORCED TO TURN THE KEY OFF AND TRY AGAIN. IT WOULD DO THIS A FEW TIMES THEN I WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. ANOTHER ISSUE I'VE HAD IS SOMETIMES WHILE I AM DRIVING, EVERYTHING WILL SHUT OFF BUT THE VEHICLE WILL KEEP DRIVING. EVERYTHING MEANING: AIR CONDITIONING, ALL LIGHTS, RADIO, TOUCH SCREEN.. ANYTHING THAT IS ON WHILE I'M DRIVING WILL SHUT OFF FOR AROUND FIVE MINUTES OR SO. I KEEP GOING WITHOUT TOUCHING ANY OF THESE THINGS, THEN THEY WILL ALL TURN BACK ON, ON THEIR OWN. THIS HAPPENS VERY RARELY. I HAVE TAKEN MY FORD IN TO GET THESE ISSUES LOOKED AT. THEY TOLD ME THESE WERE RECALLS, PRINTED THE RECALL PAPERWORK OUT, AND TOLD ME TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED. WHEN I TOOK IT IN, I WAS TOLD THESE ISSUES WERE INDEED RECALLS FOR 2013 FORD ESCAPES BUT "DID NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE" AND WAS SENT AWAY. NOW, MY FORD RANDOMLY STARTED LEAKING GAS LAST WEEK AFTER ONLY JUST TURNING IT ON WHILE SITTING IN MY HOME DRIVEWAY (DIDN'T DRIVE ANYWHERE). I LOOKED UP "GAS LEAKS IN 2013 FORD ESCAPE" AND ITS A RECALL FOR 1.6-LITER ENGINE, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE BUT WHEN I PUT THE VIN IN THE RECALL WEBSITE IT SAYS "0 UNREPAIRED RECALLS". WHY DO I KEEP HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS THAT ARE DESCRIBED IN RECALL DETAILS FOR 2013 FORD ESCAPE BUT KEEP GETTING TOLD ITS NOT FOR MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE?
FORD ESCAPE 2013 WAS IDOLING AT BANK DRIVE THREW WAS IN PARK PUT IN DRIVE ROUGHLY LESS THEN 10MINS IDOLING PUSH THE GAS AND FORD ESCAPE GALLOP 3-4 TIMES DIES PUT IN PARK TURN KEY START UP THROW IN DRIVE PUSH GAS CAR FEELS SLUGGISH STILL IN BANK PARKING LOT HEADING TO MAIN BUSY HEAVY FLOW OF CARS FORD ESCAPE AGAIN GALLOP DIES DO THE SAME RESTART BACK UP NOT AN ISSUE CAR HAS NO MOMENTUM TROUBLE SHIFTING GEARS GOT TO A NEAR BY FAMILY HOUSE TO LET THE CAR REST SINCE IT GAVE ME NO INDICATION PRIOR TO THE MALFUNCTIONING 3ND TIME FORD ESCAPE WAS IDOLING AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THREW THERE WAS MORE THEN 6 CARS AHEAD OF ME HOT SUMMER AFTERNOON LUNCH TIME IDOLING RADIO OFF NO A/C RUNNING IN LINE LONGER THEN. A TYPICAL FOOD LINE WAIT PERIOD THE SYMPTOMS HAPPENED WHEN I REACHED THE ORDER MICROPHONE DIES THEN I RESTARTED GET TO WINDOW DIES 2 TIMES BEFORE I CAN SAFELY PULL AWAY
OUR VEHICLE OFTEN EXPERIENCES A ROUGH IDLE OR SHUDDER AT LOW SPEEDS, SOMETIMES RESULTING IN A COMPLETE STALL WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE CAUSE CAN BE TRACED VIA AN OBD CODE READER TO THE MAP SENSOR - WHICH HAS BEEN CLEANED AND REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS IS EVIDENCE THAT THE RECALL ISSUED BY FORD (14S17-S1) FOR FAULTY MAP/ENGINE HARNESS WIRING AND SUBSEQUENT REPAIR (NOT PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER - PRIOR TO OUR OWNERSHIP) WERE NOT PERFORMED SUCCESSFULLY AND SHOULD BE COMPLETED AGAIN BY AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR FACILITY (A FORD DEALER). THIS ISSUE CAUSES MANY SAFETY CONCERNS, AS THE VEHICLE CAN SHUT OFF WHILE IN GEAR AND MOVING. FORD REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RECALL HAS "ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED" AND WAS A ONE-TIME ONLY SOLUTION. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND HAS RESULTED IN A FEAR OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS, DUE TO THE PROPOSED DANGERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND THE SERPENTINE BELT FRACTURED. THE BELT RIPPED APART THE HEAT SHIELD AND IGNITED THE SOUNDPROOF FOAM. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (J.C. LEWIS FORD HINESVILLE 309 W OGLETHORPE HIGHWAY HINESVILLE, GA 31313 912-876-3673) AND THEY INFORMED THE DAUGHTER THAT IT WAS THE SERPENTINE BELT AND THE BELT TENSIONER THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOLD THE DEALER TO HOLD OFF INITIALLY ON REPAIRS UNTIL SHE CONSULTED WITH HER FATHER. THE DEALER CALLED HER BACK AND PERFORMED THE REPAIRS ANYWAY AND QUOTED A REPAIR COST OF $300. THE CONTACT PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT THE NEXT DAY AND THE HEAT SHIELD WAS DAMAGED AND STARTED TO SMOKE AND POSSIBLY CATCH FIRE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BACK AFTERWARDS AND THEY HAVEN'T CALLED BACK. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,780.
POWER STEERING ASIST FAULT: (1) THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. (2) NO POWER STEERING WHEN I FIRST START MY CAR. IF I TURN IT OFF AND RESTART IT SOMETIMES WORKS AGAIN. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS COSTING THE CONSUMER $2000.00 TO REPAIR THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED FORD SERVICE REPAIR SHOP. WHILE DRIVING CAR, ABS/TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS AND ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED, CITY DRIVING, BUT NOT AFFECTING DRIVABILITY. AFTER 20 MILES CAR WAS PARKED, AND WHEN RESTARTED DAYS LATER SAME WARNINGS APPEAR BUT WITH ADDITIONAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING, MAKING CAR UNDRIVABLE. WILL BE TOWING IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP.
TURNED MY CAR ON, PUT IT IN DRIVE AND WENT TO TURN MY WHEEL AND HAD NO STEERING. I CHECKED UNDER MY VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NOTHING. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. MY HUSBAND RAN A SYSTEMS CHECK AND THE RESULTS SAID - STEERING ASSIST FAILURE- SERVICE REQUIRED. MY HUSBAND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND THE STEERING WORKED. RAN ANOTHER SYSTEMS CHECK AND NOTHING SHOWED UP. ANOTHER COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM HAS BEEN FILED THE COMPLAINT NUMBER: 11292425. UPON RESEARCH THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF COMPLAINTS MADE TO FORD AND FORD'S DEALERSHIPS. THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT STILL REFUSES TO ADDRESS OR FIX THIS ISSUE.
VEHICLE HESITATES AFTER BEING STARTED, WHEN I ATTEMPT TO DRIVE VEHICLE STALLS AND IS UNABLE TO MOVE. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY TWICE, WAS ABLE TO GET TO BREAK DOWN LANE BEFORE ANY ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. THIS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING ON SECONDARY ROADS. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE THIS ISSUE HAPPEN IN MY DRIVEWAY, I STARTED VEHICLE AND PUT INTO DRIVE AND IT PUTTERED THEN STALLED THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 30 DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. I ALSO HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE LOSS OF COOLANT BUT NOT FINDING A LEAK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 6 MONTHS, I AM HAVING TO ADD COOLANT EVERY OTHER WEEK. WARNING LIGHTS FOR LOW COOLANT DO NOT DISPLAY NOR DOES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
CONSTANT COOLANT LEAK CAUSED VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT AND ENGINE BLEW. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON, THEN SUDDENLY CAR LOST ALL POWER. WHEN I PULLED OVER THE ENGINE WAS SMOKING. I HAD ONLY DRIVEN ABOUT 4 MILES. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AFTERWARDS.
MY WAS LEAVING THE HOUSE FOR WORK ON FRIDAY JULY 24, 2020. WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE BLOCK AT ABOUT 25MPH, SHE WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND HER STEERING BECAME VERY HARD AND THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND SHE COULDN'T STEER IT ANYMORE. SHE CALLED ME AND I WENT TO ASSIST HER BUT I COULDN'T STEER IT NEITHER, TOTALLY TOO DIFFICULT. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL AUTO SERVICE CENTER AND THEY AN ESTIMATE TO REPAIR AFTER CONTACTING A FORD DEALERSHIP IN A NEARBY CITY AND THEY STATED THAT THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A TOTAL PRICE OF $2100.00, I HAVE CHECKED AROUND AND NOTICE THAT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND A LOT OF OWNERS HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, I AM GLAD THAT MY WIFE HAD NOT ALREADY GOTTEN ON TTHE INTERSTATE. I REALLY NEED SOMEONE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
VEHICLE LEAKS COOLANT. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODELS BUT MINE IS NOT INCLUDED AND IT SHOULD BE. THIS CAN BE A FIRE HAZARD. I FILL WITH FLUID EVERYDAY I DRIVE IT.

IT APPEARS THAT THIS CAR ALREADY HAD RECALLS FOR ALL THESE SIMILAR ISSUES BUT NOT SURE IF IT WAS FIXED OR DONE CORRECTLY BECAUSE HERE I'M WITH A CAR THAT I HAVE OWNED 2 MONTHS AND HAS ALL THESE PROBLEMS, PROBABLY ALREADY PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE. CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE CODE, CYLINDER HEAD OVERHEATING CODE ETC.
SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE, I HAVE HAD 5 RECALLS THAT WERE FIXED TO MY SATISFACTION AT KUNES FORD. MY MOST EXPENSIVE REPAIR WAS FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY ON JULY20, 2020 AT A COST OF $2400. MY MILEAGE AT THIS TIME WAS 55,602. I ENCOUNTERED TWO INCIDENTS WHERE MY STEERING WHEEL FROZE. I WAS PARKED AT THIS TIME AND IT CORRECTED ITSELF. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT OCCURRED AGAIN AND I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE 'POWER STEERING FAILURE.' FORTUNATELY, THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PARKED. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS THAT THIS HAPPENED TO OTHERS WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING. I CONTACTED FORD AND KUNES AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THE ESCAPE, ALTHOUGH OTHER OWNERS OF THE ESCAPE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. KUNES TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER ESCAPES THAT THEY REPAIRED AS THEY DID MINE, AND CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THESE VEHICLES FOR THE PROBLEM I EXPERIENCED. I RESEARCHED FURTHER AND THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE 2013 F150, FOCUS AND TAURUS. THIS EXPENSE WAS A HARDSHIP FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND. WE ARE RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME. I CALLED AND SENT A LETTER TO FORD AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL. I FORTUNATELY WAS NOT INJURED BUT AM CONCERNED THAT THEY DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND WARN OTHER OWNERS.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND ENGINE WAS OFF. PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. I OPENED THE PASSENGER DOOR TO GET MY BAG OUT AND REACHED OVER TO REMOVE MY KEYS FROM THE IGNITION. MY ARM BUMPED THE GEAR SHIFT AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I TRIED TO MOVE IT BACK IN PARK BECAUSE MY 18 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK SEAT (IN HER CAR SEAT) BUT I COULDN'T MOVE THE SHIFTER AND THE TIRE RAN OVER THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY. THE CAR RAN INTO A TREE AND BENT THE PASSENGER DOOR OPEN TO THE FRONT FENDER. WE MOVED THE CAR BACK TO THE DRIVEWAY AND RECREATED THE EVENT. THE SHIFTER MOVES EASILY OUT OF PARK WITHOUT NEEDING TO ENGAGE THE BUTTON; EVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 180,000.
VEHICLE STALLED ON HIGHWAY DUE TO OVERHEATING WHICH WAS A COOLANT LEAK. I SEE THEY ARE ALREADY INVESTIGATING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. DRIVER'S SEAT HAS TEARS IN IT. ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT 107,000 MILES. VEHICLE JERKS WHILE TRYING TO PARK ON A HILL. TOUCH SCREEN GOES IN AND OUT. TRUNK LATCH ONLY WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AT 121,000 MILES, BUT HAS BEEN MAKING NOISE SINCE 107,000 MILES. THIS VEHICLE IS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS!
The engine loss power and stall. I press the accelerator and it does not responde or it runs very slowly. When the AC is turned on this gets worse.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JANNELL FORD IN HANOVER, MA TO BE DIAGNOSED. I WAS INFORMED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 120,000 MILES. CURRENTLY WEIGHING REPAIR OPTIONS AND IN THE PROCESS OF CONTACTING FORD MOTOR COMPANY.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle overheated due to a coolant leak. The contact stated that the service engine message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 13V583000 (Engine) however, the Vin was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that Vin was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 232,227.
