VEHICLE STALLS WHILE BEING DRIVEN, CAUSING ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN
CAR HAS BEEN LOSING COOLANT(NO VISIBLE LEAKS), SMELLS OF GAS, HAS A HARD START AND POOR IDLE/SHAKES. ERROR CODE P0304 SHOWING 4TH CYLINDER MISFIRE. HAD IGNITION COILS AND SPARK PLUGS REPLACED. STILL THROWING CODE, STILL LOSING COOLANT. KEPT HAVING TO TOP OFF COOLANT. NO LOW COOLANT INDICATOR LIGHT. BROUGHT TO FORD, COOLANT LEAKING INTO CYLINDER AND NOW NEEDS NEW ENGINE. FORD WILL NOT COVER, DEALER WILL NOT COVER EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM MATCHES TO THE LETTER OF A RECALL FOR THE FREEZE PLUG. 'YOUR VIN ISN'T GETTING FLAGGED' BUT THE PROBLEM IS EXACTLY MATCHING THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND OF VEHICLES FROM 2013 WITH 1.6L ENGINES. CAR HAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING SOMETIMES BUT IS STILL DRIVABLE AND MUST BE AS NO HELP FROM FORD OR THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM IS IN SIGHT. TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED FOR A MONTH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON A HUMID DAY, THE VEHICLE KEPT OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED OR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
RIGHT FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING FAILS TWICE -- LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY. WAS NOT DRIVABLE.
THE ENGINE WILL QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING... SEEMS TO HAPPEN ONLY AFTER THE ENGINE IS WARM. I WILL BE DRIVING FINE, STOP AT A STORE FOR 10-30 MINUTES. RESTART THE CAR AND START DRIVING, AND THEN COMPLETE POWER LOSS. I HAVE TO DRIFT TO A STOP ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THEN IT WILL RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND THEN WILL DRIVE NORMAL AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I AM USUALLY LEAVING SOME PARKING LOT, AND THEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE COMPLETE POWER LOSS HAPPENS. NOT SPEED RELATED. WILL HAPPEN WITHIN 3 MINUTES AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR (WITH WARM ENGINE). AGAIN, THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY. THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO - IN 2017... THE FORD DEALERS SAY THEY CAN'T TROUBLESHOOT UNLESS IT HAPPENS WHILE ON THEIR DIAGNOSTICS MACHINE. BUT IT ONLY HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, SO THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE CAN'T HELP. THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES SHOWING UP WHEN THEY CHECK ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. OLDER FORD ESCAPE MODELS HAVE HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND FIX FOR THE 2013 YEAR MODELS AS WELL. *TR
MY CAMERA HAS BEEN DOING THE SAME AS WHAT THEY ARE DESCRIBING HAS HAPPENED TO THE 2020 MODELS. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK ON THIS AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW CAMERA. I REALIZE THE 2013 IS MUCH OLDER BUT INTERESTING THAT IT IS THE SAME ISSUE. I DO NOT HAVE THE $700.00 REQUIRED TO REPLACE THIS CAMERA. [XXX]. VEHICLE STARTS SHAKING REALLY BAD WHEN IDLING AT STOP LIGHTS ETC. TOOK IT IN AND THEY ADVISED THAT IT IS THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PART ANYWHERE!
FREEWAY DRIVING AND CAR STALLED. ABLE TO DRIVE TO CLOSE DEALERSHIP WITH PEDAL TO FLOOR AND GETTING ABOUT 8 MPH. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY. LEFT DEALERSHIP. DRIVING SIDE STREETS 2 MILES FROM DEALERSHIP AND SAME THING. 8 MPH. TOWED BACK TO DEALER. SAID IT MIGHT BE WIRE HARNESS $2000. THEY TEST DRIVE THOUGH AND NO PROBLEM AFTER MOVING WIRES AROUND. SO I TOOK CAR AND DROVE A FEW DAYS BUT THEN AFTER EXITING HIGHWAY ABOUT ONE MILE IT DOES IT AGAIN. TOWED BACK TO DEALER WHERE I START IT AND GET ZERO WARNINGS. DRIVES OK. BUT LEAVE IT THERE. THEY THINK IT'S PURGE VALVE NOW. GLAD I DIDN'T REPLACE WIRE HARNESS. THEY SAY IT ISN'T GIVING ANY CODES NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. SCARY TO LOSE ALL ACCELERATION ON FREEWAY!
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the driver’s side front seat belt failed to retract as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the retractor was replaced under warranty. The failure reoccurred approximately 2 months after the repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the retractor needed replacing again. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
MY CAR HAS A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD AND SHOULD FALL UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGN # 12S41, HOWEVER MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED 1 MONTH AFTER THE DATES LISTED. I SHOULD STILL FALL UNDER THE RECALL IF THE SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING FOR CARS THAT WERE MADE 4 WEEKS EARLIER THAN MINE. *TR
I purchased my vehicle may 6,2020 Accident accord in Winnie,Tx June 22,2020 on the highway me and my kids father were on the highway at the time the highway was getting construction work done as we were driving down the highway street someone hit us broke one of my ribs and my left elbow as well I didn’t have any knowledge of knowing my vehicle had a recall until I just realize searching on my vehicle I purchased and the reason why it wasn’t taken cared before I had family matters sorry so late Briana Roy The consumer stated that she suffered a lot of traumas during this incident. No assistance has been offered yet due to the incident occurring during the pandemic.
SO I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 17 MONTHS.... IT HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP 3X SINCE OWNING...AND JUST RECENTLY THE TRANSMISSION BLEW!!!! 60,000 MILES, NO WARNING. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE WITH THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR OF ESCAPES AND SOME CUSTOMERS EVEN SAYING ITS BLOWN 2 TIMES!!! SO WHY IS THERE NOTHING BEING DONE!!!??? DO I NEED TO HIRE LEGAL ASSISTANCE. THIS WAS A $5000 REPAIR!!! $5000!!! ON A VEHICLE WITH 60,000 MILES!! WHY IS NOTHING DONE??? THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND SOMETHING NEEDS CHECKED INTO. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM CLASSIC FORD IN GALVESTON TX. IN 2018. I RECEIVED A RECALL IN THE MAIL TWO DAYS AGO. THE RECALL SAID THAT THE DOOR HANDLES MIGHT COME OFF WITHOUT WARNING. SINCE THE TIME I HAVE HAD THE THE CAR A LIGHT CAME ON AND I CAN NOT GET IT INSPECTED. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM WAS LEAKING. THE CAR CHUGGED OUT AND STOPPED RUNNING,THIS HAPPENED INSIDE CITY LIMITS
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD ONGOING ISSUES WITH SIGNIFICANT HESITATION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, COOLANT NEEDING REPLENISHMENT ON A REGULAR (EVERY 3-4 MONTHS) BASIS, VEHICLE STALLING AND SHUTTING DOWN SPORADICALLY, VEHICLE OVERHEATING, DOORS RANDOMLY POPPING OPEN AND NEEDING TO BE HELD SHUT BY MY CHILDREN UNTIL I CAN SAFELY PULL OVER. MOST RECENTLY AND JUST THIS MORNING ON 6/18/20, THE VEHICLE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. THE DASHBOARD INDICATED THAT THERE ARE NOW TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I USED MY AAA MEMBERSHIP TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO COLONIAL FORD IN PLYMOUTH, MA AFTER STANDING WITHIN FEET OF SPEEDING TRAFFIC WHILE WAITING. THE CAR POTENTIALLY LETHALLY JUST STOPPED. IT IS NOW BEING "DIAGNOSED" BY COLONIAL FORD. MUCH PREVIOUSLY, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO JANNELL FORD IN HANOVER, MA TO INQUIRE ABOUT THESE ISSUES WHEN THE MILEAGE WAS STILL REASONABLY LOW. THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THAT BRANCH LIED TO ME. HE INFORMED ME THERE WERE NEVER RECALLS PERTAINING TO MY VEHICLE EVER. IN THE LAST 48 HOURS, I HAVE DISCOVERED THERE WERE IN FACT RECALLS FOR THE EXACT ISSUES DESCRIBED ABOVE. ISSUES THAT WERE NEVER PROPERLY REPAIRED WHEN THE FORMER OWNER OF THE VEHICLE BROUGHT IT TO THEIR PARTICULAR DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO SULLIVAN TIRE YESTERDAY ON 6/17/20 WHEN THE A/C STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. THEY INFORMED ME THEY COULD NOT RECHARGE THE A/C BECAUSE THEY RECEIVED AN ENGINE CODE OF P2637 WHICH I HAVE DOCUMENTED FROM THEM. THIS CODE SPECIFICALLY RELATES TO RECALL 13S12 (COOLANT BYPASS VALVES). IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT I POINTED THIS OUT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE EVEN THOUGH A TOTAL CUT AND DRY ISSUE RELATING SPECIFICALLY TO THE YEAR, MAKE, MODEL OF MY VEHICLE. THEY WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSES OF REPAIRS. FORD HAS BASICALLY SAID IN SO MANY WORDS "WE KNOW THIS IS AN UNSAFE DEATH TRAP, BUT IT'S TOO LATE AND YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN OUT OF LUCK!" *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE AREA OF THE LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. COOLANT LEVEL IS DEPLETING WITHOUT ANY VISIBLE LEAKS. VEHICLE HAS A COLD START AND SOMETIMES HAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING. HIGH IDLE AT START. COOLANT LIGHT HAS COME ON AND I'VE REFILLED IT TWICE IN 3 MONTHS. CONTACTED PORTSMOUTH FORD(PORTSMOUTH,NH) AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL AND TRIED TO CHARGE $150 TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS ON MY VEHICLE. I PRESENTED THE NHTSA BULLETIN 12V431000 AND THE SERVICE WRITER JUST DISMISSED IT. MADE MY APPOINTMENT A WEEK AGO, CONFIRMED IT AND GAVE A THOROUGH EXPLANATION TO BE TURN AWAY. WASTE OF TIME AND INCREDIBLY AGGRAVATING. *TR

THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AND STARTED AND REGAINED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOW FORD DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE CODE AT THE STEERING GEAR BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,303.
LOSS OF COOLANT APPROXIMATELY EVERY 45 DAYS GIVE OR TAKE. NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKING AND A PRESSURE TEST CHECK DID NOT SHOW ANY NON-VISIBLE LEAKS. YET I HAVE TO REFILL A LOW COOLANT ERROR AS STATED. A GOOGLE SEARCH FOUND QUITE A FEW OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON 2013 MODEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT START-UP, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN ORDER TO SHIFT GEARS, HE HAD TO REACH DOWN IN BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE AIR FILTER AND MANUALLY SHIFT GEARS WITH HIS HANDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
THE CAR KEEPS FLASHING ERROR CODES AND NOTHING ELECTRICAL WILL WORK. THIS INCLUDES AIR AND INSIDE DASH LIGHTS SPEED CONTROL. *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT SAID COOLANT ENGINE, WHILE IT WAS IN MOTION THEN IT TURNED RED AND SAID STOP THE VEHICLE. I STOP MY HUSBAND PUT WATER IN IT TO DRIVE IT HOME AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. THEN WHEN I DROVE THE CAR ABOUT 30 MILES AGAIN IT DID THE SAME THING.

THE STALLING TYPICALLY OCCURS SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND DRIVING A VERY SHORT DISTANCE (I.E., <50 FEET) AND REQUIRES US TO SIT AND TRY MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT CONTINUES TO DRIVE WITHOUT STALLING. NO ENGLNE LIGHT TURNS ON AND NO NOTICE FOR WHEN THIS HAPPENS. *TR
2 THINGS HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING, FIRST THE VEHICLE DOES WHATS CLASSIFIED BY FORD AS A FAKE OVERHEAT, IT SHUTS OFF THE CAR SLOWLY AND STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT WHILE SAYING THE VEHICLE IS OVERHEATING, AND ANOTHER THING IS OIL LEAKS (WHICH BOTH OF THESE THINGS SAY THEY WERE ONCE RECALLS BUT MY VEHICLES SAYS THERE AREN'T RECALLS.) *TR

ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PURGE VALVE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE PAINT ON MY 2013, THAT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT IS WEARING OFF IN MULTIPLE PLACES. IT LOOKS AS THOUGHT A POOR JOB WAS DONE APPLYING THE PAINT AS MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND ONLY HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED $2500 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WHICH I DO NOT HAVE. IT SEEMS THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR. AS SOME OF THESE SPOTS ALSO HAVE STARTED TO RUST, I WILL NEED TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF SOONER THAN LATER SO THE PROBLEM DOESN'T BECOME EVEN BIGGER.
ANTIFREEZE DISAPPEARING. HAD RESERVOIR TANK, HOSES, CLAMPS, COOLANT PARTS LEADING TO AIR CONDITIONING, NO VISSABLE LEAKS OF COOLANT. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF AT RANDOM AND HAS FOR PAST 4 + YEARS WITH NO RESOLUTION. RECENTLY HAD FORD DEALERSHIP RUN A 5 HOUR PRESSURE TEST WAS TOLD, 1) ENGINE LOSING PRESSURE, 2) #3 CYLINDER DEFECTIVE, 3) EITHER NEEDS HEAD GASKET OR POSSIBLE CRACKED BLOCK, UNSURE WITHOUT DISASSEMBLING ENGINE AT COST TO MYSELF OF AT MINIMUM $600. SAID SOME EROSION WAS SEEN, UNSURE CAUSE OF IT. WAS RECENTLY TOLD IN 2014 THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE OF CAR IN 03/2014, AT FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED VEHICLE. I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS WATER PUMP REPAIR UNTIL 07/2020. HAD I KNOWN, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED BEING CAR "1" YEAR OLD NEEDING SUCH A VITAL REPAIR. DURING ONE OF THE PRESSURE TESTS IN 03/2020, A MINOR OIL LEAK WAS REPAIRED, VALVE COVER GASKET REPLACED. CONTACTED FORD MANUFACTURER ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE IN REPAIR OF DEFECT, CASE # 27007133 , WAS TOLD NO FUNDING AVAILABLE TO ASSIST ME WITH ISSUE. HAD AUTO SHIELD INSURANCE, DENIED COVERAGE DUE TO REQUIRING ENGINE TO BE DISASSEMBLED TO DETERMINE WHAT THE EXACT PROBLEM IS? WHERE IS IT COMING FROM? HOW DID IT OCCUR? ALL AT MY EXPENSE. I HAVE TAKEN EXCELLENT CARE OF MY VEHICLE, MAINTAINED AS REQUIRED TO CONTINUE RELIABILITY. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE'S ISSUE HAS EXISTED, MAYBE AN UNDERLYING ISSUE, SINCE IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN 02/2013 DUE TO REQUIRING A WATER PUMP DURING 1ST YEAR OF BEING MANUFACTURED. AS I MENTIONED, THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON AND WENT OFF THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. IVE HAD AUTO PARTS USE A SCANNER TO DETERMINE WHAT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS REVEALING, HOWEVER NOTHING WAS DETERMINED PREVIOUSLY. I HAVE SERVICE RECORDS IF NEEDED. IS THERE ANY HELP AVAILABLE FOR ME TOWARDS RESOLVING THIS ISSUE? NO VISSABLE COOLANT LEAKS, HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE ENGINE IS ON. NO OVER HEATING.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After retrieving the vehicle, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT AND LOW COOLANT LEVEL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARCOTTE FORD SALES INC (1025 MAIN ST, HOLYOKE, MA 01040) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
TODAY AFTER 10 MINUTES OF SUCCESSFUL, NORMAL SUBURBAN DRIVING, AND A STOP FOR LUNCH, MY ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, HILL START ASSIST, AND AUTO 4WD SYSTEMS ALL THREW WARNINGS OF MALFUNCTION. THE WARNINGS APPEARED AFTER HAVING BEEN WAITING IN A DRIVE-THROUGH LINE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, AND POWER OFF IN THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES THEREAFTER. AUDIBLE AND PHYSICAL INDICATIONS OF PROBLEM WERE THUMPING NOISE IN RIGHT-REAR WHEEL, AND DIFFICULTY IN MAKING FORWARD MOTION AT LOW SPEED IN A ZERO-SLOPE PARKING LOT. VISUAL CHECK FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH TIRE INFLATION OR OBSTACLES IN STRAIGHT PATH OF TRAVEL. MANUAL CHECK OF LUG-NUTS BY HAND WITHOUT TOOLS FOUND NONE LOOSE. AFTER CONFERRING WITH A LOCAL SHOP I TRUST, I WAS ABLE TO TRAVEL 1/2 MILE WITHOUT INCIDENT TO THEIR LOCATION. AUDIBLE AND PHYSICAL INDICATIONS WERE PRESENT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TRIP, BUT ALL CLEARED AFTER I GOT UNDERWAY. WARNINGS ON DASH REMAINED PRESENT. SHOP WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE INDICATIONS, BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY CAUSE DURING DETAILED VISUAL INSPECTION OF CHASSIS AND BRAKE SYSTEMS. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTIC ON THE SYSTEMS FOR NEXT WEEK, TO ATTEMPT TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THIS SET OF CONDITIONS. SHOP THINKS A FAULTY ABS SENSOR, TONE PLATE, OR WIRING MAY BE THE CAUSE, WHICH MAKES THE BRAKES ENGAGE INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT INPUT FROM THE DRIVER. *TR
CAR WAS IN PARKED. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN GEAR, IT GOT STUCK IN REVERSE AND THE CAR CUT OUT AND WOULD NOT START. TOW TRUCK CAME TO ASSIST AND TOLD ME THAT THIS ISSUE WAS A RECALL ON FORD CARS. I CALLED LEXINGTON PARK DEALERSHIP TO VERIFY AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS RECALL DIDN'T APPLY TO MY VIN. NOT SURE WHY, IF THE RECALL SPECIFICALLY STATES 2013 AND 2014 FORD ESCAPES WHICH I HAVE. IF I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL, WHY AM I NOT COVERED. *TR
THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE DETACHED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR GOES INTO LIMP MODE. THE RPMS GO WAY DOWN AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PRESS THE GAS, I CAN NOT GET CAR TO GO. I'VE HAD IT TO THE GARAGE SEVERAL TIMES. THEY HAVE REPLACED AIR COOLANT PARTS, AIR FILTER, AND SEVERAL OTHER THINGS. CAR CONTINUES TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. FORD DEALERSHIP I TALKED WITH SAYS THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON SUCH A THING. THEY DID OFFER TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT WHY? NOTHING CAME UP ON DIAGNOSTICS TEST WITH OTHER GARAGE. FORD COMPANY- THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!! I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY A SEMI AS THE CAR DID THIS WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. MAYBE THE ANTIFREEZE LEAKING, THIS LIMP MODE, AND OTHERS HAVING THEIR CARS STALL COMPLETELY IS ALL ONE PROBLEM?? I'M HOPING YOU CAN HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM! STARTING IN MAY OF 2020 MY FORD ESCAPE STARTED STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AS WELL AS THE EXPRESSWAY IT HESITATES IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE THE MOMENT YOU TAP THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR STARTS TO SPUTTER AND THEN COMPLETELY STALLS OUT AND STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF WHEREVER YOU ARE THE STREET PARKING LOT IT DOESN'T MATTER IT ALSO HAS DONE THIS BACK-TO-BACK MULTIPLE TIMES OCCURRING MAYBE FOUR TO SIX TIMES IN A ROW BARELY ALLOWING ME TO MAKE IT FROM ONE DESTINATION TO THE OTHER. THE ESCAPE ALSO OVERHEATED REPLACED THE COOLANT SENSOR REPLACED THE FUEL REGULATOR AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME EXACT THING. IT JUST DECREASED THE AMOUNT OF TIMES THAT IT WOULD DO IT IN A ROW SO NOW IT DOES IT TO THREE TIMES. IT ALSO STALLS OUT AND DIES WHILE IT STOPLIGHTS MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURN AS YOU'RE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION COMING TO A STOP BARELY HITTING THE ACCELERATOR
FREQUENTLY AND USUALLY RIGHT AFTER I TURN THE CAR ON, THE ABS LIGHT WILL COME ON, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON, AND THEN MY CAR WILL STALL. I CAN USUALLY CRAWL INTO A PARKING SPACE/OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. OCCASIONALLY THE HILL START ASSIST LIGHT WILL COME ON AND OCCASIONALLY THE 4WD DISABLED LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL HAVE COME ON ON THE INTERSTATE AND HIGHWAYS BEFORE, BUT THEY HAVE ONLY CAUSED MY CAR TO STALL (LUCKILY) RIGHT AFTER I TURN IT ON AND BEGIN TO MOVE. THE HILL START ASSIST WILL USUALLY ONLY COME ON IF I COME TO A FULL STOP WHILE DRIVING, WHETHER I AM ON A HILL OR NOT. THIS HAPPENED ONCE WHEN WE FIRST GOT THE CAR (4.5 YEARS AGO). IT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. IT NOW HAS STARTED HAPPENING VERY FREQUENTLY AT MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS OR SO.

I JUST PICKED MY CAR UP FROM THE JIM BURKE FORD DEALERSHIP ON OAK STREET IN BAKERSFIELD, CA. YESTERDAY AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AGAIN FROM HWY 58 TO TEHACHAPPI TRANSMISSION SHOP AT787 W. TEHACHAPI BLVD. STEP A. PHONE NUMBER 661-822-4950. THE SHOP I HAD IT TAKEN TO IS THE SECOND SHOP TO TELL ME IT HAS RECALL NUMBERS 13S12 AND 12S41. THE FORD COMPANY HOWEVER IS SAYING THIS IS NOT VALID. MY CAR IS UNDRINKABLE AT THIS TIME UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. *TR
THERE WAS AN ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT THAT MADE THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT STEER. THANKFULLY THE CAR WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. I HAVE AN OLDER ESCAPE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT WAS RECALLED. THIS MODEL YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL AND THE REPAIR ESTIMATE IS $2200.
THIS CAR WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THE CAR STRUCK SEVERAL TREES HITTING THE FRONT END OF THE CAR AND THEN LANDED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE FRONT AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED NOT DID THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG. MY TEENAGER WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN IT TURNED OVER HE HAS BEEN CONCERNED WITH WHY THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE SIDE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE WITH THE WAY THE CAR LANDED ON ITS SIDE. IF THE AIRBAG HAD OF DEPLOYED THEN HIS HEAD WOULD HAVE NEVER HIT THE WINDOW. THERE IS NO WAY THAT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES I FEEL THAT SOMEONE CAN HONESTLY TELL ME THAT IT JUST DIDN'T HIT WHERE THE SENSOR WAS AND THAT'S THE REASON. HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS THAT WE AREN'T AWARE OF OR COULD THERE BE AN ISSUE. THIS HAS US CONCERNED BECAUSE THIS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE THAN IT WAS AND MAYBE IF THE AIRBAGS HAD OF DEPLOYED THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN MORE INJURIES BUT SOMETHING JUST DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT. THE ACCIDENT HAPPEN ON A SIDE STREET THE SPEED WAS ABOUT 40 MPH GOING AROUND A CURVE MOVED OVER TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD DUE TO CAR BEING IN HIS LANE. WHEN MOVING OVER THE CAR STARTED SLIDING INTO THE WET GRASS TRIED BRINGING BACK BUT OVER CORRECTED THEN THE CAR STRUCK A TREE HEAD AN EMBANKMENT THEN TURNED OVER IN DRIVER SIDE. *TR

IN MAY 2020, ENGINE BEGAN OVERHEATING WHEN ANY POWER WAS APPLIED AND ISSUE WOULD RESOLVE WHEN STOPPED. OVERHEATING WOULD CAUSE ENGINE PROTECTION SYSTEM TO SHUTDOWN ENGINE PREVENTING ANY SORT OF DRIVING. COOLANT LOW LEVEL ALARM WOULD ACTUATE DESPITE COOLANT RESERVOIR BEING IN NORMAL RANGE AND COOLANT PRESSURE SHOWING NORMAL ON GAUGE. AFTER INVESTIGATION, ISSUE WAS FOUND TO BE A LEAK IN THE WATER PUMP.

THE LOCAL DEALER SAM GALLOWAY FORD LOCATED AT 1800 BOY SCOUT DR, FORT MYERS, FL 33907 WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT YET CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
I PURCHASED MY CAR USED IN DEC. 2016 WITH 79,000 MILES, AND HAVE HAD CONSISTENT PROBLEMS EVER SINCE. IN AUG. 2017 (94,888 MILEAGE), I HAD TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AND STOP DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE - I WAS CONSISTENTLY ADDING COOLANT, PROBABLY EVERY FEW DAYS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THE COOLANT LEAK CAME FROM THE WATER PUMP, SO THEY REPLACED THE LEAKING WATER PUMP, AS WELL AS THE CABIN AIR FILTER AND SPARK PLUGS. THEN IN JUNE 2018, I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND COULDN'T PUT THE SPARE ON BECAUSE THE LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN/WARPED - TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE ALL SETS. IN SEPT. 2018 (113,516 MILEAGE), I WAS DRIVING HOME, THE ENGINE STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND I KNEW IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD TO "REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND COMPLETELY REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION". THEY ALSO FOUND THE HALF SHAFT WAS LEAKING, SO THEY "REPLACED THE LEFT HAND BUSHING/SEAL/HALF SHAFT BECAUSE THE SHAFT WAS SCORED". IN JAN. 2019, I HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO GET SERVICED BECAUSE WITHIN 1 DAYS TIME, I HAD 5 LIGHT BULBS BLOW OUT AND NEEDED REPLACING. LATER IN THE SUMMER 2019, I WAS HAVING COOLANT ISSUES AGAIN, AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE COOLANT SENSOR WAS MALFUNCTIONING. I DID NOT HAVE THAT REPLACED BECAUSE I SAID I WOULD KEEP AN EYE ON THE COOLANT LEVELS. NOW, APRIL 2020, MY COOLANT LEVEL'S ARE GETTING LOW AGAIN, AND THERE IS A CONSISTENT SMELL OF COOLANT SURROUNDING THE VEHICLE WHEN ENGINE IS ON. AFTER DRIVING FOR 20+ MINUTES, AND COMING TO AN IDLE STOP, THE CAR SMELLS LIKE EXHAUST AND COOLANT MIXED, AND THERE IS OCCASIONAL SMOKE BILLOWS FROM THE EXHAUST PIPES. I HAVE LOOKED UNDER THE ENGINE AND FOUND OIL LEAKS (PICS ATTACHED), AND BELIEVE MY CAR MATCHES THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V551000 EVEN THOUGH RECALLS NEVER SHOW UP FOR MY VIN

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER A MOMENT THE VEHICLE REGAINED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ALSO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BUT DID NOT RETRIEVE A TROUBLE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. *DT*DT THE CONTACT EMAILED THE NHTSA INVESTIGATOR 04/23/21, INFORMING NHTSA THAT WHEN HE WENT TO RETRIEVE THE VEHICLE FROM TRACY FORD ON 4/22/21, TRACY FORD NOW HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION), AND THAT THEY WOULD REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION UNDER THE VEHICLES EXISTING THIRD PARTY EXTENDED WARRANTY (PURCHASED AT THE TIME OF THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE FROM TRACY FORD). CONTACT STATED HE WOULD FOLLOW UP WITH NHTSA TO INFORM IF SAID REPAIRS ACTUALLY FIX THE STALLING PROBLEM. AS OF 05-06-2021, REPAIRS ARE NOT YET COMPLETED, AND VEHICLE IS STILL AT TRACY FORD UNDERGOING A FULL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT.
