I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 19 WITH 91 THOUSAND MILES. IN 3MOS. MY ENGINGINE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. MY HOOD WAS VIBRATING AND TRANS WAS SHIFTING HARD AND JUMPING IN AND OUT. TOOK IT TO FORD IN MESQUITE TX. I PAID 800 + DOLLARS FOR MOTOR MOUNT. TWO DAYS LATER VIBRATIONS RETURN. TOOK IT BACK. THEY SAID THAT'S NORMAL. DIDNT DO DIAGNOSTICS. 2MOS AGO IT STARTED RATTLING FROM THE REAR. VIBRATIONS WORST. FORD SAID ITS TRANSMISSION MOUNT NOW. THIS CAR HAS OVER 10 RECALLS PERFORMED. I CANT AFFORD TO FIX. I TOOK FOR ANOTHER LICENSE SHOP. MECHANIC SAID HE WOULDN'T TOUCH IT HE SAID THE EXHAUST AND MOUNTS GO OUT FREQUENTLY ON THESE CARS. IT WOULD KILL IN ON HIS ONE WARRANTY. SAID MOUNTS CAN GO OUT AGAIN WITHIN 3MONTHS. I'M STUCK WITH THIS MONEY TAKING LEMON. 2013 WITH 101 THOUSAND MILES.
MY CAR STARTED SHOWING ENGINE OVERHEATING AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO DEALER THEY CONFIRMED A CRACK LEAKING FLUID INTO ENGINE. RECALL WORK DONE IN 2014 WAS TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO BUY A NEW $6000 ENGINE TO HAVE IT RUN AGAIN. THEY WON'T COVER IT UNDER THEIR RECALL. I WROTE THE BBB BUT THEY REFUSE TO HONOR IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CAR JUST TURNED 6 YRS OLD. I'M THE ONLY OWNER AND PURCHASED IT NEW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ANTI-FREEZE AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND LOST POWER. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD LINCOLN OF HUNTINGTON (147 W 11TH ST, HUNTINGTON STATION, NY 11746, (631) 923-2145) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR, PRESSURE SENSOR, AND WASTEGATE SOLENOID FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V431000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE RPMS DECREASED TOO LOW AND THE VEHICLE STALLED TWENTY ONE TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED HINES PARK FORD INC (56558 PONTIAC TRAIL, NEW HUDSON, MI 48165, (888) 482-7660) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
EARLIER IN THE WEEK I REPORTED THE ENGINE STALLING ISSUE. I WISH TO REPORT THE COOLANT LEAK ISSUE AS WELL. I'VE HAD THE WATER PUMP REPLACED BUT COOLANT IS STILL LEAKING AND HAS TO BE TOPPED OFF REGULARLY. THIS IS ON THE 1.6L ENGINE. IT SOUNDS LIKE MANY OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE COOLANT AND ENGINE STALLING ISSUES; LOOKING FORWARD TO RECALLS BEING ISSUED FOR BOTH PROBLEMS.
I HAVE A 2012 FORD ESCAPE BOUGHT BRAND NEW ONLY HAVE 68000.MILES ON IT AND NOW IT HAS STARTED STALLING. I HAVE DRIVING DOING ERRANDS AROUND MY HOME TOWN. LUCKILY IT RESTARTED BUT NOT EASILY.
THE TORQUE CONVERTER ON MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE STARTED TO THUMP WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AFTER INITIAL START-UPS. THE PROBLEM BEGAN SOMEWHERE AROUND 86000+ MILES. THERE WOULD BE NO SUBSEQUENT PROBLEMS WHEN TAKING THE VEHICLE OUT OF DRIVE (I.E., AFTER BACKING UP OR BEING PLACED INTO PARK) ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING A WHILE (HEATED UP). VEHICLE NOW HAS 87000+ MILES AND ON 11/07/19 I RECEIVED A MESSAGE "TRANSMISSION FAULT. SERVICE NOW." I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED. ON 11/08/19 I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. THIS TIME THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD. LATER IN THE EVENING I TRIED STARTING AND SHIFTING THE ESCAPE INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE WITH THE USUAL THUMP AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE SUV FORWARD. THE TORQUE CONVERTED APPEARS TO BE ON ITS WAY OUT. I PLAN TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. I WANT TO REPORT THIS AS I UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER WHO OWN SIMILAR VEHICLES (FORD ESCAPES) ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TORQUE CONVERTS AND TRANSMISSIONS.
WHEN I TURN ON THE VENTS FOR THE AIR OR HEAT, A SMELL OF EXHAUST IS COMING INTO THE CABIN ESPECIALLY WHEN IDLING. THE CABIN AIR FILTER WAS CHANGED BUT DID NOT FIX THE SMELL.
I DON'T HAVE HEAT AND I'M LOOSING COOLANT. I AM FILLING MY COOLANT EVERY OTHER DAY.
STEERING ASSIST FAILURES... HI, I OWN A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. AND SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE HAD A 'STEERING ASSIST FAILURE', AND MY STEERING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. I AM CONCERNED IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY, SOMETIMES MOVING AND SOMETIMES WHEN I START THE CAR. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE NTHSA SITE AND OTHER SITES AND IT IS A VERY EXPENSE FIX, UP TO $2000.. IS THERE ANY CHANCE OF A RECALL ON THIS SAFETY INCIDENT. I UNDERSTAND THE 2011 ESCAPES AND 2013 EXPLORER HAD A RECALL ON THE EXACT SAME SAFETY ISSUE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR KILLED UNLESS FORD STEPS UP AND DOES THE RIGHT THING.
WHEN I START MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE LIGHT WILL DISPLAY SAYS STEERING PROBLEM AND WILL NO MOVE INTO REVERSE. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND START IT AGAIN THEN IT WILL SHIFT INTO GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON FOR ABOUT A FEW DAYS AND WILL NOT COME ON FOR ABOUT SEVERAL WEEKS. I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE IN 2019. I ALSO NOTICED THIS VEHICLE HAS 15 RECALLS. JUST A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THAT.
2013 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE LUG NUTS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED ALL FOUR TIRES HAD SWOLLEN LUG NUTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DECLINED ASSISTANCE STATING THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY EXPOSURE TO THE ELEMENTS. *JS
I FILED A COMPLAINT SOMETIME LAST WEEK ABOUT MY CAR HAVING COOLANT LEAKS AND OVERHEATING DUE TO THIS LEAK. WELL I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND WAS OUT 400 DOLLARS TO FIX THIS. THE SHOP ENDED UP HAVING TO ORDER TWO OF THE SAME PARTS BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL FAULTY. A WEEK LATER MY CAR IS FIXED. WORKED FOR 2 DAYS AND THE PART THAT CAME DIRECTLY FROM FORD WAS FAULTY AGAIN. CAR ALMOST BLEW UP ON THE HIGHWAYS BECAUSE COOLANT WAS LEAKING EVERYWHERE. THERE WAS LITERALLY NONE IN MY CAR. WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BECOME IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO FIX? WHEN THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY RUINED? I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY TODAY AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH CAME ON SAYING ENGINE TEMP DANGEROUSLY HIGH. TURN ENGINE OFF IMMEDIATELY BUT BY THIS POINT I WAS ALREADY SMOKING OUT THE HOOD, IT SMELLED LIKE COOLANT INSIDE MY CAR, I PULL OVER AND GET OUT AND I SEE MY TIRED ARE SOAKED, THE WHOLE SIDEWALK UP UNDER ME WAS PUDDLED, MY ENGINE WAS COVERED IN COOLANT. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED.
ENGINE CUTS OFF/STALLS WHILE CAR IS IN OPERATION. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING AFTER START UP. I CAN DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE AT LOW SPEED AND THEN CAR STALLS. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS BEHIND ME AND MY COMPLETELY STOPPED. IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY, ABOUT EVERY OTHER START.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE STALLS AND TURNS OFF SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. YOU CAN DRIVE IT SEVERAL MILES, BUT WHEN YOU STOP AND TURN IT OFF, THEN TURN IT BACK ON IT WILL STALL AND TURN OFF. IT'S DIED SEVERAL TIMES PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE OR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IF I'M ABLE TO KEEP IT RUNNING LONG ENOUGH TO GET UP TO ABOUT 30 MPH IT WILL SKIP 3 TIMES THEN IT'S FINE, UNTIL YOU TURN IT BACK OFF. I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN SEVERAL COLLISIONS WITH ME AND MY 3 KIDS. I'VE CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY KEEP SAYING THERE'S NO RECALL AND I HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT LOOKED AT AND FIXED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY LOOKING AT OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH IT STALLING AND DYING.
I AM EXPERIENCING STALLING AND THE VEHICLE DYING MUCH LIKE THE RECALL ON THE 2.0'S THAT I HAVE SEEN - MINE IS A 1.6. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I AM TAKING OFF.
VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY STALLS OUT AT LOW IDLE, EITHER WHEN STATIONARY OR ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE UP HILL IN FORWARD AFTER BACKING OUT INTO STREET. THIS IS NOT TRIGGERING AN ERROR CODE AND SEVERAL MECHANICS CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. AFTER COMPLETING SOME RESEARCH, IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2013 FORD ESCAPES.
I RECEIVED A COOLANT LOW ALERT IN THE SUMMER OF 2019. WENT TO DEALER, THEY BLAMED IT ON VEGAS WEATHER, TOPPED OFF THE COOLANT. ALERT CAME UP AGAIN 10/28/19. RETURNED TO DEALER, GOT TOPPED OFF. & GOT APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE ON 11/1 /19. I HAD GOOGLED COOLANT LEAKS IN MY CAR. LEAKING ON DRIVE WAY, I WAS TOLD MY ESCAPE IS NOT ON RECALL, BUT THE NHTSA. IS REPORTING SAFETY ISSUES WITH MY MAKE & MODEL. I ALERT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING & WHEN I START IN THE AM, ALERT STAYS ON STATIONARY & MOTION
VEHICLE STALLS IN GEAR AND/OR IDLE. STALLS IN DRIVE, REVERSE, SPORT MODE. VEHICLE DIED IN DRIVEWAY ON STREET AND IN MOTION. NEW BATTERY PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED.
THERE IS A RECALL ON ENGINES OVER HEATING, HOWEVER I HAVE CHECKED MINE WITH 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THEY BOTH SAY THAT THEY CANT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AND THAT MY ESCAPE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS TO BE CORRECT BECAUSE IT OVER HEATS, ITS NOT LEAKING, NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. IVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS. TIPTON FORD IN NACOGDOCHES, TX AND AL MYER FORD IN LUFKIN, TX. BOTH COMPANIES HAVE HAD MY SUV FOR 1 WEEK AT A TIME AND STILL CANT TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THIS RECALL HAS TO DO WITH MY SUV?
ME AND MY DAD HAD BROUGHT THIS 2013 FORD ESCAPE WITH WARRANTY ON AUGUST 20, 2018 AT DON DAVIS NISSAN IT HAD 70,093 MILES ON THE TRUCK THE SALES MAN NAME MR. FREEMAN WAS THE ONE WHO HAD SOLD US THIS TRUCK HE HAD THIS TRUCK WAS AT DON DAVIS NISSAN FOR A WEEK THE SALESMAN MR. FREEMAN TOLD ME AND MY DAD THAT THE REASON THE TRUCK HAD TOOK LONG BECAUSE THEY WERE DOING WORK TO IT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING ON IT WOULD BE OK BEFORE THEY BROUGHT IT TOO ME AND MY DAD. SO WE HAD THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS AND EVERYTHING ON THEIR WAS GOOD UNTIL SEPTEMBER 5 2018 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD CAME ON I TOLD MY DAD WHAT HAPPEN HE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK UP THEIR TO DON DAVIS NISSAN I TOOK BACK UP TO THEM THEY TESTED AND THEY CAME BACK AND TOLD ME THAT THE TURBO CHARGE NEEDS FIXING AND IT WAS GOING TO BE $500 DOLLARS SO WHEN I TOLD MY DAD HE TOLD THE PEOPLE AT DON DAVIS NISSAN THAT WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING OUT OF HIS POCKETS WHEN WE HAVE WARRANTY ON THIS TRUCK AND WE JUST GOTTEN THIS TRUCK SO MY DAD WAS PISSED BECAUSE WE JUST GAVE DON DAVIS $500 AND I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND I SEEN WERE THEY A HAD A RECALL ON THIS TRUCK SO I WENT OUT THEIR TO DON DAVIS NISSAN AND TOLD THEM THIS AND THEY COME TELLING ME THAT MY TRUCK DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL AND I TOLD THEM LIKE HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT I HAVE AND I SEEN ON THE INTERNET THAT THE SAME THING THAT THE OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO HAD A RECALL ON THEIR TRUCK AND AS I LOOK AT THE COMMENTS AND I SEEN THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO MY TRUCK LIKE FOR EXAMPLE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ENGINE TO WEAR MY TRUCK OVERHEATS TO WEAR I HARDLY DRIVE IT SOMETIMES I DO BECAUSE I GO TO SCHOOL AND TO MY DOCTOR AND RUN ERRANDS FOR MY MOTHER OR FATHER. AND I BEEN TELLING DON DAVIS NISSAN SINCE LAST AND NOW AND THEY ACTED LIKE THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP ME BUT ALWAYS BE LYING TO ME AND MY DAD I HAVE BEEN TELLING DON DAVIS NISSAN THIS AND THEY STRAIGHT IGNORE ME. *TR*JB
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH AROUND 74K MILES, 3 MONTHS LATER, DURING WINTER, THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL REGULARLY WHILE ACCELERATING, BASICALLY GOING INTO "LIMP MODE" AS FORD DESCRIBES IT, CLAIMING THE VEHICLE IS OVERHEATING....WHILE AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON, THE ISSUE GOES AWAY BUT CHECK ENGINE REMAINS FOR 3 DAYS UNTIL IT CLEARS ITSELF. 3 TRIPS TO FORD SERVICE CENTER, OVER $2500 IN REPAIRS, AND NO RESOLUTION. NOW A FIELD ENGINEER FROM FORD INSTRUCTED THE DEALER HOW TO DIAGNOSE WITH POSSIBLE RESOLUTION, BUT STILL NO CERTAINTY, AND REQUEST VEHICLE FOR 3-4 DAYS OF DIAGNOSES AND NO LOANER VEHICLES, ONLY OUT OF POCKET RENTALS OFFERED @ $30 A DAY. 1ST AND LAST TIME I DRIVE, RENT, LEASE OR PURCHASE A FORD VEHICLE. SERVICE WAS DONE AT FAIR PRICE, FRIENDLY SERVICE STAFF, BUT VERY INCONVENIENT. LAST 3 INCIDENTS OCCURED ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH AND ONCE OF THOSE INCIDENTS ALMOST RESULTED IN A COLLISION, BUT FORD DOESN'T SEEM TOO CONCERNED. SHOULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN, GOING FROM 70MPH DOWN TO 55-45MPH WITHIN 5 SECONDS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING. I WOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS MODEL VEHICLE UNLESS LIFE ISN'T A PRIORITY. BEING FORMER MILITARY, IT'S SAD MY LIFE IS MORE IN DANGER HERE THAN DURING MY SERVICE. UNACCEPTABLE, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THEIR OWN SERVICE CENTER CAN'T EVEN REPAIR IT OR AT LEAST OFFER A LOANER DURING THEIR ATTEMPTS TO DO SO. ISSUE IS VERY INTERMITTENT AND RANDOM, NO REAL PATTERN OR TRIGGER. LAST INCIDENT WAS YESTERDAY, WHICH WOULD BE THE 7TH TIME THIS MONTH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED AND WHITE SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ADDED COOLANT. THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL FOR A FEW MINUTES, BUT THEN BEGAN SMOKING AGAIN. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED A LINE BETWEEN THE RADIATOR AND THE ENGINE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORTHSIDE FORD (12300 SAN PEDRO AVE, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78216) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINE COOLANT LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. I AM BUYING NEW TIRES FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THE REPLACEMENT WOULD BE NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AND THAT IF I HAVE TO REPLACE A TIRE, THE TOOL THAT IS IN MY VEHICLE MAY BE TOO SMALL. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD I AM NOT THE FIRST AND THERE IS NO UPDATE. ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET COMPLAINTS, THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2015 AND FORD HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. FORD SUGGESTED REPLACEMENT WITH MCGARD LUG NUTS THAT ARE SUPPOSEDLY HIGH QUALITY BUT MAY STILL PRESENT A PROBLEM. THIS MAY BE THE LAST FORD PRODUCT I PURCHASE. HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH NOT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. MY SAFETY MAY BE AT RISK IF I AM ON THE ROAD AND EVEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE MY TIRE?
MY WATER PUMP WENT OUT AND RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH FORD ESCAPE. THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL IN 2013 FOR THE COOLING SYSTEM.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE KEEPS STALLING WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. ALL THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON, AND THEN THE VEHICLE ROLLS TO A STOP WITHOUT BE BEING ABLE TO PRESS ON THE GAS. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, BUT I GUESS MINE IS NOT COVERED, WHEN IT SHOULD BE.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS BEEN OCCASIONALLY IDLING FUNNY WHEN I START IT SOMETIMES OR WHEN I AM AT A STOP LIGHT FOR SOME TIME AND BEGIN TO GO. IT WILL START TO PUTTER LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL AND EVEN HAS STALLED A TIME OR TWO. IT SEEMS AS IF THERE ISN'T ANY FUEL GETTING TO THE ENGINE BUT THE ENTIRE TANK IS FULL OF GAS. THE CAR WILL PUTTER AND BE RELUCTANT TO ACCELERATE UNTIL IT STARTS TO GO BACK TO NORMAL OR STALLS OUT. ONCE I RESTART THE CAR AND GIVE IT GAS, IT SOUNDS AND WORKS NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 TIMES NOW IN THE LAST MONTH. THERE IS ONLY $125,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE AS I ALWAYS KEEP MY GAS TANK NO LESS THAN A QUARTER TANK. NO LIGHTS ARE APPEARING WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE CAR JUST DOESN'T IDLE CORRECTLY AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS OR IS RUNNING OUT OF GAS.
CAR OVERHEATED WHILE DRIVING FOUR TIMES BETWEEN 2016-2018 (AFTER EACH INSTANCE, IT WAS TOWED TO AND SERVICED AT A FORD DEALER). CAR ALSO EXPERIENCED THREE INSTANCES OF EXHAUST LEAKS BETWEEN 2016-2018 (EACH INSTANCE WAS IDENTIFIED BY A STRONG SMELL OF GAS AND SERVICED AT A FORD DEALER). IN OCTOBER 2019, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ON THE HIGHWAY, REQUIRING A TOW TO THE FORD DEALER, WHO RECOMMENDED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AT 105,000 MILES.
I BOUGHT MY CAR THIS YEAR AND THE HANDLE NEVER WORKED. IT STAYS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION AND THE PASSENGER DOOR FLYS OPEN WHILE DRIVING EVERY TIME. I HAVE ALSO HAD COOLANT PROBLEMS SINCE THE DAY THAT I BOUGHT THE CAR. THESE ARE ALL SHOWN ON A RECALL LIST FOR MY MODEL CAR BUT WHEN I CHECK WITH MY VIN IT SAYS I HAVE 0 RECALLS. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED FORD SUCH AS EXPEDITIONS AND EXPLORERS BUT I AM NOT A FAN OF THIS ESCAPE AND ALL IT'S PROBLEMS. WHILE DRIVING, IT WILL GO HIT AND SAY LOW COOLANT AND I HAVE TO REFILL COOLANT EVERY WEEK OR SO. IT'S CUTE OFF ON MY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT READS WORDS AND NOT CODES. IT SAYS ASSOCIATION OF 'SOMETHING'. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT IT APRIL 2019 AND I'M FED UP. MY KIDS CAN FALL OUT OF THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE DOOR OR I CAN HAVE BIG PROBLEMS WITH THESE COOLANT ISSUES AND MOTOR ISSUES.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V583000 (ENGINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.*PM CONSUMER SPOKE TO MANAGER AT JOE MACHENS WHO SAID THAT FAILURE WAS RELATED TO SAFETY RECALL 13S12 AND THAT CONSUMER SHOULD CONTACT THE SELLING DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER TO REQUEST A REFUND. CONSUMER CONTACTED LOU FUSZ FORD (CHESTERFIELD, MO), SUNTROP FORD (SUNSET HILLS, MO) AND THE MANUFACTURER. ALL OF THEM DENIED LIABILITY AND REFUSED TO ASSIST. I AM CONSTANTLY ADDING COOLANT TO MY ESCAPE. IT HAS BROKEN DOWN / SHUT OFF ON ME TWICE AS A RESULT OF OVERHEATING CAUSED BY LACK OF COOLANT. FORD CLAIMED THE COOLANT LOSS WAS CAUSED BY A SENSOR. SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF A FAULTY SENSOR TRICKING THE ENGINE INTO THINKING IT WAS OVERHEATING AND THE COOLANT WAS BEING DISPERSED TO COOL THE ENGINE. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2017 WITH 52,000 MILES AND THAT BY SEPTEMBER OF 2017 I WAS ADDING COOLANT. THIS CONTINUE UNTIL OCTOBER 2019 WHEN I FINALLY GOT FED UP AFTER THE VEHICLE POWERED OFF ON ME GOING DOWN HILL AS A RESULT OF 'OVERHEATING' NEEDING MORE COOLANT. I TRIED SHARING THIS INFORMATION WITH MY DEALERSHIP TO NO AVAIL AND MENTIONED PREVIOUS RECALLS ON 2013 1.6L ESCAPE ENGINES THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN BUT MANY OF THE RECALLS INVOLVED COOLANT LEAKS! I ALLOWED FORD TO CONVINCE ME THE $4,000 SENSOR WOULD SOLVE ALL MY PROBLEMS. UNFORTUNATELY ON DECEMBER 3, 2019 LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AFTER THE SENSOR WAS REPAIRED I GOT A MAINTENANCE NOTIFICATION TO ADD COOLANT AND ANOTHER ON JANUARY 20, 2020. IN ADDITION, I WANT TO COMMENT ON THE POWER STEERING DEFAULTING. THIS HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL IN MAY 2019 ON I 85. MY POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT AND NEVER RETURNED. PREVIOUSLY IN APRIL A BRIEF POWER STEERING DEFAULT NOTIFICATION APPEARED AND AFTER RESTARTING MY CAR, THE NOTIFICATION WENT AWAY AND POWER STEERING WAS FINE. IN MY OPINION, POWER STEERING SHOULD NOT BE GOING OUT ON A VEHICLE AFTER BARELY 6 YEARS. MIGHT I ADD WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2017 IT ONLY HAD 52,000 MILES ON IT. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked outside the residence, and she noticed that coolant was leaking onto the ground. The contact stated that she added coolant to the vehicle, but the coolant continuously leaked onto ground. The contact started driving the vehicle however, the vehicle started overheating and a message advising to pull over was displayed. The contact reversed to the front of the residence and parked the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55-60 MPH, the vehicle overheated and shut off. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer several times, and the dealer diagnosed that coolant was leaking from the coolant hose, and the engine coolant temperature sensor housing was cracked. The dealer repaired the vehicle twice; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the coolant hoses were repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 47,841.
CAR WILL STALL RANDOMLY NO MATTER AT WHAT SPEED USUALLY AFTER DRIVING OVER 15 MILES THEN STARTS ASKING FOR COOLANT
VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING ON COUNTRY BACK ROADS AND CITY STREETS (I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC SUV). I AM PROBABLY GOING 30 MPH IN SPEED WHEN STALLING OCCURS. STALLING NORMALLY HAPPENS WITHIN 5-10 MINUTES AFTER STARTING CAR. I LOSE THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND CAR STALLS OUT. HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY EACH DAY (EX. 7 TIMES TODAY).
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WON'T OPEN. I'VE TRIED FROM THE OUTSIDE AND TRIED TO PUSH IT FROM THE INSIDE AND JUST WONT OPEN. THAT DAY AROUND 3:15PM IT OPEN JUST FINE BUT LATER ON AROUND 11:15PM IT JUST WON'T OPEN AND STILL WON'T.

HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM. MY SON WAS PULLING ONTO A MAJOR ROAD FROM A GAS STATION. HE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD THE TRANSMISSION FAILED NO WARNING. THEN IT JERKED AND HE HAD TO GIVE IT HIGH RPM FOR IT TO CRAWL. HE ALMOST GOT T BONED BY A BIG TRUCK.VERY UNSAFE SITUATION. BROUGHT CAR TO FORD SERVICE TECH SAID HE WOULD CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID AS I COULD NOT NO DIP STICK CAR HAD ONLY 127,000 MILES ON IT.SERVICE ADVISOR GOT BACK TO ME HE SAID YOU NEED NEW TRANSMISSION. $3600-$5000. ASKED TO FILE COMPLAINT WITH FORD HE REFUSED SAID IT'S A WASTE OF TIME FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. HE SAID LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS WAS BETWEEN 100,000-120,000 MILES I POSED THIS QUESTION TO HIM IF HE KNEW LIFE EXPECTANCY OF A CARS TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS 100-000 TO 120,000 MILES WOULD HE BUY CAR HE SAID HE COULD NOT ANSWER THAT. SENT NUMEROUS CORRESPONDENCE TO FORD DID NOT GET 1 RESPONSE FROM ANYONE AT FORD. FINALLY TALKED TO A REAL PERSON AT FORD HEADQUARTERS IN MICHIGAN. FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING IS WHAT I WAS TOLD. I POSED SAME QUESTION AS SERVICE ADVISOR. SAME ANSWER. I CAN'T ANSWER THAT. THOUSANDS OF THE SAME COMMENTS ON INTERNET SAME PROBLEMS. FORD DOES NOT SEEM INTERESTED IN DOING THE RIGHT THING WITH A RECALL OR AT LEAST HELP OUT THESE FORD CUSTOMERS. VERY UNSAFE FORD MIGHT BE WAITING TILL SOMEONE DIES FROM THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THAT THE BOOST CONTROL SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES AND REMAINED AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 210,000.

CAR POWERED DOWN AGAIN. CAR STARTED AGAIN AND DROVE 10 MILES WITHOUT ISSUE TO DESTINATION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON.

IT WAD A VAD CAR DAY. STARTED WITH THE FUEL SMELL, DEAD BATTERY, TO MY BRAKES GOING OUT!!@ THE CIST FOR REPAIRS ARE $263.05. THANKX.
WHILE IN MOTION, THE RPM ARE REDUCED, THE CAR SLOWS DOWN, TURNS OFF AND A "SYSTEM CHECK, SERVICE NOW" NOTICE APPEARS IN DASH BOARD. THERE IS A RECALL FOR SAME ESCAPE BUT 2.5, WHILE THIS ONE IS 1.3. RIGHT NOW IT IS AT FORD DEALER FOR ANOTHER EVALUATION.
