I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN APRIL AND I'M ALREADY HEARING LOUD NOISES WHEN I START THE CAR AND GRINDING NOISES WHEN I ACCELERATE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE WAY THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED, CAUSED A LEAK THAT WAS DRIPPING FLUID AND CAUSING SOFTENING OF THE GEARS? HE SAID IS WOULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO OVERHEATING. I AM NOW EXPERIENCING UNEXPECTED ACCELERATIONS WHILE DRIVING AND DIFFICULT BREAKING.
VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTY WHILE UNDER LOAD AND HIGHER SPEEDS (ABOVE 50MPH), CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE, MAKING THE VEHICLE HARDER TO CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. NO KNOWN CAUSE FOUND BY DEALERSHIPS OR IN ONLINE FORUMS.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A 55MPH ROAD AT NIGHT TIME WHEN THE TRANSMISSION DECIDED TO STOP WORKING! NO PRIOR NOTIFICATIONS WENT OFF ON THE CAR BEFORE IT STOPPED WORKING. AFTER I MANAGED TO ROLL TO A SAFE SPOT I SHUT OF THE CAR, LET IT COOL, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE IT WENT IN REVERSE! THERE IS A 'CAT SCRATCHING' LIKE NOISE HAPPENING IN THE TRANSMISSION. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED ONLY TWO MONTH AFTER BUYING THE CAR. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A CAR!! I HAVE SEEN RECALLS ON TRANSMISSIONS JUST LIKE MINE HOWEVER MINE DID NOT MEET THE REQUIRED DATE BECAUSE IT WAS BUILD 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE OTHER 2013 VEHICLES. *TR
HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR TWICE IN A YEAR. BOUGHT CAR A YEAR AGO AND HAVE SMELLED BURNING SINCE. TURBO WAS REPLACED DUE TO INTERNAL OIL LEAK. NOW CAR OVER HEATS AND HAVE TO ADD COOLANT WEEKLY. SMOKE COMES UP THROUGH HOOD ON OCCASION. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY LEAKS OR TELL ME WHY I CAN SMELL BURNING AND SEE SMOKE. SAID COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL BUT VIN WASN'T FLAGGED) BUT HOW IS THAT GOING TO FIX ADDING COOLANT WEEKLY? FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF COOLING SYSTEMS SINCE 2010 AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT.
ENGINE STOPPED WHILE DRIVING AND SAID "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" AND WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN FIVE MINUTES.
THE VEHICLE STUTTERS AND DIES UPON RESTART; AFTER BEING HEAT SOAKED FROM A LONG DRIVE (HIGHWAY FOR A HOUR). VEHICLE THROWS RANDOM CODES RELATED TO PCM DOES NOT DO SO CONSISTENTLY. APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH WIRES RELATED TO PCM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED AND REMAINED IN NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RELEASE THE SHIFTER OUT OF NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER CABLE FAILED. THE SHIFTER CABLE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO ADVISED THAT THE BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE NAVIGATION SCREEN REMAINED ON DUE TO THE GEAR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
WITHIN THE LAST WEEK THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED OUT AND DIED WITH ZERO WARNING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND.
THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE OVER THE PAST THREE MONTHS. THE LATEST WAS YESTERDAY (24 SEPTEMBER 2019). THE ISSUE OCCURS ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STARTED, THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO STUTTER AND WILL SHUT DOWN. SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF, WILL RE-START AND IT HAS THE SAME ISSUE. SOMETIMES, IT OCCURS AFTER I HAVE DRIVEN 100 FEET (OR LESS) AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER, SHUT THE CAR DOWN, OR IT SHUTS DOWN, AND THEN RESTART. THIS MIGHT HAPPEN 2-3 TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO DRIVE OKAY. THIS CONDITION SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. SOMETIMES, I HAVE TO TURN THE AC OFF PRIOR TO RESTARTING THE CAR.
CAR KEEPS LOSING COOLANT. HAD LEAKS BUT WERE REPAIRED BEEN PRESSURED TESTED BUT CANT KEEP COOLANT CAR OVERHEATS HAD ABOUT 30,000 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AND HAVE HAD THIS TROUBLE EVERY SINCE CAR HAS 63000 MILES NOW
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD LOSE POWER, STALL OUT AND DIE! AFTER COASTING OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND WANTING A FEW MINUTES, I WOULD THEN TURNING THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. IT WOULD START BUT I NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THE CAR HAD SUFFICIENT FUEL AND OIL, BATTERY CONNECTION ARE TIGHT AND CLEAN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK OIL AND CHECK ENGINE NOW WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT INCREASE IN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS NOT ABLE TO START. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED A YEAR AGO. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT OIL WAS FOUND INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
ENGINE FIRE ON 9/21/19 WHILE CAR WAS PARKED ON SIDE STREET IT APPEARS AFTER BEING PARKED FOR NEAR 2 HOURS 2013 FORD ESCAPE PURCHASED ON 4/30/13 ENGINE: 2.0L I4 GTDI ECOBOOST ENG MILES: 49400 ALL WORK DONE AT DEALER INCLUDING ALL RECALLS LISTED ON NHTSA FOUR OF WHICH WERE RELATED TO FIRE. ENGINE FIRE VEHICLE TOTALED (PICTURES AVAILABLE) WHILE PARKED ON SIDE STREET IT APPEARS NEAR 2 HOURS AFTER THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES START STOP BACK STREETS AVERAGE SPEED ESTIMATED 25 MILES/HOUR. NO KNOWN ISSUES BEFORE FIRE. NO OTHER DAMAGE NO INJURIES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTIONED AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER (QUALITY FORD, 2300 E. MAIN ST, CUSHING, OK) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED THAT THE GEAR WAS IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MATTHEWS FORD (918-251-3673, LOCATED AT 1101 W SOUTHWEST EXPRESSWAY DR, BROKEN ARROW, OK 74012) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,355.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER BUCKLING THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT. ADDITIONALLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT ALARM WAS INOPERABLE AND DID NOT CHIME WHEN THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT FASTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELT SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *BF *JS
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS DEMONSTRATED THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL INJECTOR (SPECIFICALLY THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE SOLENOID) THAT WAS PART OF LAST FALL'S FOCUS RECALL. I HAD A PROBLEM LAST FALL WITH MY CAR WHINING, ROCKING WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, SMELLING LIKE BURNED FUEL, AND EVENTUALLY STALLING OUT ENTIRELY. LAST YEAR THE CAR STALLED OUT MULTIPLE TIMES INITIALLY WHILE STATIONARY, AND EVENTUALLY WHILE IN MOTION. EXPERIENCE WAS DIFFICULT TO REPRODUCE AS IT WAS SPORADIC AND NOT CONSISTENT. WE REPLACED THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE LAST YEAR WHICH RESOLVED THE PROBLEM, EXCEPT THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS NOW FAILED AGAIN A YEAR LATER WHILE I WAS SITTING IN BUSY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. MY CAR STARTED WHINING AND ROCKING THIS MORNING WHILE I WAS A STOP, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND THEN I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES (BATTERY WOULD ENGAGE, ENGINE WOULD ATTEMPT TO TURN BUT WOULDN'T CATCH). EVENTUALLY I WAS ABLE TO START MY ENGINE AND DRIVE HOME SAFELY. HOWEVER I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AGAIN UNTIL THE PART IS ONCE AGAIN REPLACED.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN 2013. A YEAR AFTER I HAD IT THE LOW ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON. IT TOOK A SMALL AMOUNT OF ANTIFREEZE TO FILL IT UP. THIS SAME THING HAPPENED ONCE OR TWICE THE FOLLOWING YEAR. LAST YEAR IT WAS MORE FREQUENT. I HAD IT CHECK AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A WATER PUMP. THE WATER PUMP DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I'M HAVING TO ADD ANTIFREEZE WEEKLY TO MY CAR NOW. I PULLED UP FORD RECALLS AND SAW WHERE FORD ESCAPES WERE BEING RECALLED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT PARTICULAR RECALL. IF I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WHY IS MINE NOT BEING RECALLED?
WHILE BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY, I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. POWER STEERING WAS NOT ENGAGED. COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD DEALER. DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY POWER STEERING RACK - ELECTRONIC - COST TO REPLACE THE RACK WAS $2000.00. FORD HAS ALREADY ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2013 EXPLORER BUT NOT THE 2013 ESCAPE.
ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR IS BAD, CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK AND CAR TO OVERHEAT.
CAR SIGNALS ITS OVERHEATING AND SHUTS DOWN AFTER BEING SHUT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES ITS FINE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENED ON A FREEWAY ONRAMP. I HAVE REPLACED PRACTICALLY THE ENTIRE COOLING SYSTEM IN ADDITION TO THE RECALLS FORD HAS DONE.
PASSENGER FRONT DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE, WHILE DRIVING SATURDAY 9/14/2019 APPROXIMATELY 7:30 PM MY PASSENGER FRONT DOOR FLEW OPEN. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND HAD NO PASSENGER IN MY VEHICLE. I TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT IT WILL NOT CLOSE. I HAVE HAD TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED (A PICTURE IS ATTACHED). THIS VEHICLE WAS PART OF A RECALL BACK IN OCTOBER 2016 #16S30 AND WAS FIXED ON 5/15/2017. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS ALREADY FIXED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER OCCURRENCES OF THIS HAPPENING. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY BUT HAVE YET TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM. I HAVE ATTACHED THE RECALL NOTICE AND PRICE QUOTE FOR ME TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. TOOK MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE IN FOR 100,000 MILE CHECK UP. OIL WAS LEAKING ONTO THE ENGINE. HAD THIS GONE UNCHECKED, IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE ON THE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY. VERY SCARY.
WHEN DRIVING, NOT RELATED TO SPEED OR CURVES, YOU'LL BE DRIVING ALONG AND FEEL THE STEERING TIGHTENING AND ARE THEN DOWN TO MANUAL STEERING. YOU HAVE TO PULL OFF AND TURN THE CAR OFF. WHEN YOU TURN IT BACK ON IT HAS RESET AND THE POWER STEERING RESUMES. WE HAVE PLUGGED IN TO AN ERROR CODE READER AND IT IS NOT RETURNING A CODE. AN ONLINE SEARCH HAS SHOWN AN INTERNAL SERVICE MEMO (CSP # 14N02 PUT OUT 8/26/2014) REGARDING THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, MOST RECENTLY TWICE LAST WEEK.
I WAS DRIVING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL. I WAS PULLING ON TO OUR MAIN ROAD A HIGHWAY FROM A STOP SIGN AND THE ENGINE SHUTOFF. I WAS ABLE TO START IT AND DRIVE IT ABOUT A BLOCK WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS HAPPEN A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES. EACH OF THESE TIMES I WAS LEFT WITH MY 2 CHILDREN IN A STALLED CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IT IS A MIRACLE WE DID NOT GET HIT OR HURT IN ANY WAY. WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO START IT ENOUGH AND MANEUVER US OUT OF TRAFFIC AND DANGER, WE WERE THEN STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME WE WERE TURNING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, ALL OTHER TIME WE WERE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY. WE HAD RAN THE CODE WITH A MECHANIC AND IT WAS A FUEL CONNECTOR ERROR.
VEHICLE STALLS THEN RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY THEN STALLS AGAIN AFTER A SHORT TIME RUNNING, IT HAS DONE THIS ON 3 SEPARATE DAYS NOW IN THE LAST MONTH. IT WILL STALL AND RESTART ABOUT 3 TO 4 TIMES IN A ROW AND THEN DRIVE NORMALLY. THIS CONCERNS ME AS TO A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT IN TRAFFIC WAITING TO HAPPEN. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SCANNED AND IT SHOWS NO FAULT CODES. MY LOCAL.FORD DEALER SAYS THEY ARE AT MINIMUM A MONTH OUT FOR APPOINTMENTS...... THIS IS NOT GOOD. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP.AND STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. I HAVE SEEN VARIOUS WEBSITES THAT HAVE MULTIPLE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. AS I SAID, FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED OR HEAVEN FORBID....KILLED.
THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. I WAS DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70 MPH ON A LONG CURVE. WITHOUT WARNING MY STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I WAS SO SCARRED BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE GOING THE SAME SPEED OR ABOVE WHAT I WAS. I THOUGHT QUICK ENOUGH TO PUT ON MY HAZARDS, I COULDNT DIRECT THE CAR TO GO TO THE CURVE, SO I FIGURED I WOULD SLOW TO A STOP AND GO FROM THERE. A COUPLE MINUTES LATER WHEN I WAS DOWN TO ABOUT 10 MPH AND PEOPLE HONKING AND FLYING PAST ME THE POWER STEERING ASSIST. FAILURE LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WHEEL JERKED TO THE RIGHT A LITTLE AND I WAS ABLE TO SLIGHTLY START GOING TO THE SHOULDER. IT TOOK BOTH HANDS AND ALL THE STRENGTH I HAD TO MOVE THE WHEEL BUT I MANAGED. I CALLED MY HUSBAND TO COME PICK ME UP, WHILE WAITING I TURNED THE CAR ON TO MAKE SURE IT WAS THE POWER STEERING LIGHT THAT CAME ON, WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON THE STEERING WAS BACK TO NORMAL, MY HUSBAND FOLLOWED ME HOME WHILE I DROVE SLOWLY. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WAS STILL FINE, UNTIL I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM THE STORE ON A COUNTRY ROAD THAT IS HILLY AND WINDING GOING 30 MOH THE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN THE STEERING WAS REALLY HARD TO TURN OR MOVE IN ANY DIRECTION. I MANAGED TO GET HOME AND THAT IS WHERE MY CAR HAS SAT SINCE, I'M TOO SCARED TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. THIS IS BEYOND DANGEROUS.
IF I AM IN PARK AND IT SITS FOR A FEW MINUTES IT WILL START TO STALL AND THEN DIE. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND JUST SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. ONCE I START THE CAR BACK UP IT JUST FEELS LIKE IT CAN'T GO. SO IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME MAINLY WHILE IN STATIONARY AND NOW WHILE IN MOTION.
MY CAR HAS PERSISTENT COOLANT LEAKING PROBLEMS. THE DEALER CHECKED AND COULDN'T FIND PROBLEMS. IT HAPPENS AGAIN TODAY WITH COOLANT LOW WARNING.
ENGINE COOLANT KEPT LEAKING. NOTICES ABOUT 'ENGINE COOLANT LOW' WERE NOT CORRECTED, EVEN AFTER I HAD 2 HEATER HOSES REPLACED, AS PER THE SERVICE REPAIR REPORT RECOMMENDED. THIS WAS DONE, FIRST ONE HOSE, COSTING $485, THE LIGHT STILL CAME ON ABOUT 4 WEEKS LATER, AND THE SECOND HOSE WAS REPLACED COSTING ~ $475. EVEN AFTER THIS, ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2019, THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING INCREDIBLE NOISES AND SMOKE STARTING COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, OUT OF THE LINE OF TRAFFIC AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER AND I GOT OUT IMMEDIATELY! NO COOLANT, NO OIL AND THE RADIATOR(/) CAP HAD BUBBLY 'STUFF' IN IT. I HAVE COPIES OF PAPERWORK THAT STATES, " CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE 'LOW ENGINE COOLANT 'LIGHT COMES ON, OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL MONTHS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE FORD DEALERSHIP ...N E V E R.. MENTIONED THAT THIS MIGHT BE PART OF A RECALL, FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM! I CONSIDER THIS FRAUD BY DECEPTION. I CANNOT AFFORD THIS, ESPECIALLY SINCE I FEEL THAT THIS WAS SUCH A WELL-KEPT SECRET BY THE DEALER. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED NHTSATO REQUIRE A RECALL ON:12V551000 12/03.2012 AND RECALL #12V431000 09/04/2012. THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THOSE RECALLED!! MY 2013 ESCAPE RANDOMLY STALLS. MECHANIC CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS. PUTS ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN I DRIVE IT
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I RECEIVED AN ERROR READING STATING MY ENGINE COOLANT IS LOW. I CHECKED COOLANT AND IT IS FULL. MY CAR STARTED TO STALL WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. I LOOKED UP INFO ON THIS WEBSITE WHICH MIMICKED MY ISSUES EXACTLY. THE FORD RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER IS 12S41. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPAY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND ASKED THEM ABOUT MY CAR AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEMS AND HOW THEY MIMICKED THE RECALL LISTED ABOVE. THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT. I INFORMED THEM THAT IT WAS A 2013 ESCAPE WHICH SHOWS TO FALL UNDER IT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR PROBABLY DIDN'T GET MADE WITH THE SAME PARTS AND MAY HAVE BEEN MADE AT A DIFFERENT TIME. I WILL NOW HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET AND I HAVE A HARD TIME DOING THAT SINCE OBVIOUSLY THE SYMPTOMS MIMIC THE RECALL. MY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN IT STALLS OUT AND TELLS ME MY SYSTEM IS OVERHEATING AND TO PULL OVER. IT IS A RANDOM THING. IT CAN HAPPEN WHEN JUST STARTED OR WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
THE BUSHING ON MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS GONE OUT. I AM UNABLE TO SHIFT MY VEHICLE INTO PARK OR REVERSE. IT WILL ONLY GO INTO DRIVE AND NEUTRAL. I AM NOT ABLE TO GO ANYWHERE THAT I MAY NEED TO REVERSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND WITHOUT NO WARNING SIGNS WHEN I WENT TO GO AT A GREEN LIGHT IT JUST DIDN'T WANT TO GO AND WAS MAKING A WHINING NOISE. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. HAVE GOTTEN 3 DIFFERENT TECHNICIANS FROM 3 DIFFERENT PLACES AND SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND THAT FORD HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FROM AROUND 2010-2016. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE REPAIR COST IS $4000-$6000.
Car falsely indicates overheating and goes into “limp mode” not allowing me to accelerate even while driving. Has occurred on freeway, while parked, in intersections, and has posed a threat to my safety over a hundred times. Been yelled at by other drivers and almost hit countless times because I’ve been unable to accelerate whilst trying to pull over safely. “Hill start assist not available” appears and then “engine fault service now” accompanied by the speedometer going to 0mph (even while driving) as well as the RPM’s going to 0. Lastly, “high engine temperature” appears and car starts shaking and lurching and the engine gets extremely loud until I’m able to turn it off. Sometimes turns back on right away, sometimes I’m stuck in car on side of road/freeway for minutes-hours. Been to 2 Ford dealerships as well as many mechanics and have been told it’s fixed several times and it has not been. After replacing transmission, spark plugs, corroded wires, coolant, and more, Ford dealership said they have no idea what is wrong with car. Exploring online I found many other reports of 2013 escapes having the same issues as well as other Ford vehicles. This has affected my safety too many times and I’m unable to find a solution anywhere. Check engine light is always on unless cleared. Has been occurring on and off (more frequently as time passes) since I got car 2.5 years ago and have been unable to receive any help or solutions. Occurs at any speed, even while in park. I have videos as well of the car not turning on and actively showing these alerts whilst I’m driving. Sometimes the car will even be “on” but the entire dash is black as if the car was off.

I TRIED TO PULL OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT WORK AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE. I UNDERSTAND FORD HAS HAD TO RECALL OVER 1.1 MILLION SUV'S FOR POWER STEERING DEFECTS. THIS REPAIR WILL COST ME $1,800 TO REPAIR. I FOUND OUT FROM A MECHANIC THAT IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION. NO WARRANTY IS AVAILABLE. MY CAR IS JUST SITTING IN MY GARAGE AND NOW I'M CATCHING THE BUS WHILE PAYING A CAR NOTE. PLEASE HELP. THE ENGINE APPEARS TO GIVE A FALSE OVERHEAT ALARM AND GOES INTO LIMP MODE SOON AFTER ENGINE START. TURNING ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING USUALLY CLEARS THE OVERHEAT ALARM AND THE VEHICLE OPERATES NORMALLY. IT WILL SOMETIMES REPEAT AND COULD BE A PROBLEM IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN AT AN INTERSECTION WHEN YOU NEED TO CLEAR QUICKLY. FALSE OVERHEAT ISSUES BEING REPORTED ALL OVER FORUMS WITH 1.6 ENGINE. MECHANIC REPLACED ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND PROBLEM PERSISTS. NO OTHER APPARENT PROBLEMS WITH COOLING SYSTEM WERE FOUND.

VEHICLE CONTINUALLY STALLS AT IDLE RENDERING THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS MADE 3 SEPARATE ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE ALL TO NO AVAIL.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY AND THEN THE ENGINE FAILURE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND STALLED OUT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THIS WAS VERY UNSAFE AS I HAD CARS GOING BY ME AS I WAS STALLING OUT, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH MY WIRING HARNESS. THERE IS A TSB OUT BUT IT SAYS THAT MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED TWO MONTHS PRIOR THEN THE DATES LISTED FOR THE TSB. THERE IS ALSO A RECALL FOR MY YEAR MAKE AND MODEL IN THE CORRECT MANUFACTURING DATES BUT I AM BEING TOLD BY A FORD REPRESENTATIVE THAT IT ISN'T MY CAR WITHOUT THEM EVEN LOOKING AT IT.
ISSUE 1: TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AT 70,000 MILES. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH AND THE TRANSMISSION DIED CAUSING ME THE LOOSE POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. TOO THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY MENTIONED IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM. ISSUE 2: LUG NUT STAINLESS STEAL CAPS GET HOT AND MOLDS ITSELF TO THE LUG NUT UNDER IT. THERE IS NOT TOOL REMOVE THE CAPS AND THEY HAVE TO BE STRIPPED OFF TO GET TO THE LUG NUTS TO REMOVE THE TIRE. THE CAPS CANNOT BE STRIPPED OF COMPLETELY AND TO GET A NET SET OF LUG NUTS COST $250.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WENT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION BECAUSE HE FELT SICK. THE HOSPITAL STATED THAT THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED ANTIFREEZE POISONING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
HAVE HAD CAR FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES INCLUDING REPLACING ENTIRE TURBO SYSTEM HOWEVER CAR CONTINUES TO STALL WHEN DRIVING. THE ENTIRE CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE.
