VEHICLE HAD RECALL WORK DONE REGARDING FOR HANDLES, SINCE THEN I HAVE EXPERIENCED NOT STOP ISSUES WITH DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE GETTING STUCK IN OPEN POSITION WHICH CAUSES THE DOOR NOT TO SECURELY LATCH CLOSED. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK AND WAS TOLD IT'S JUST A LUBRICATION ISSUE.
THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATES I AM GOING FASTER THAN I AM AND THE MILEAGE SHOWS THAT I HAVE TRAVELED FURTHER THAN I HAVE. I HAVE CHECKED THIS AGAINST MY GARMIN AND HIGHWAY DEPARTMENTS RADAR SIGNS THAT TELL HOW FAST YOU ARE DRIVING. THIS MAKES MY WARRANTY RUN OUT SOONER THAN IT SHOULD. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. MY SECOND CAR CONFIRMS WHAT THE GARMIN SHOWS FOR SPEED AND MILES DRIVEN. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. IT IS OFF BY ABOUT 7 % . THE ODOMETER SHOWS ABOUT 68,000 MILES. THE ACTUAL, AS I SEE IT, IS ABOUT 63,000 MILES. THAT IS 5,000 MILES MORE THAN THE CAR ACTUALLY HAS ON IT AND THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY WILL RUN OUT AT 93,000 MILES. THE CAR SHOWS 65 MPH AND THE GARMIN AND ROADSIDE RADAR INDICATE MY SPEED AT 60 MPH.
TRIED TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY BUT WAS UNABLE TO TURN STEERING WHEEL AND THEN NOTICE THE MESSAGE. TRYING TO PULL CAR BACK INTO DRIVEWAY IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AS WELL. I JUST GRATEFUL I WAS ABLE TO GET TO AND FROM CHURCH WITH NO PROBLEM. I DON'T WANT TO IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. DRIVERS ARE SO MUCH IN A RUSH.
DRIVING OUR ESCAPE, WITH 58,800 MILES, ON A ROAD TRIP HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. WE DROVE IT TO A CLOSE REPAIR SHOP AND FOUND OUT COOLANT LEAKED INTO HEAD GASKET #3 CAUSING OVER HEATING DAMAGE AND REPLACEMENT OF CYLINDER HEAD WOULD BE REQUIRED. FORD DEALER WOULD NOT HELP REPAIR OR REPLACE OR EVEN DIAGNOSE. RECALL FIX 17S09 (NHTSA 17V-209) DID NOT FIX THE POTENTIAL DANGER OR DAMAGE. THE COOLANT LEAK STILL HAPPENED CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE AND A WORTHLESS CAR AT 58,800 MILES.
FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS (APPROXIMATELY) MY CAR HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING ANTIFREEZE LEAKS. MY VEHICLE HAS ROUGHLY 71,850 MILES AND IT IS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. ABOUT ONCE A MONTH MY INFO LIGHTS COMES ON SIGNALING MY ENGINE COOLANT IS LOW. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A COUPLE LOCATIONS AND NO ONE CAN FIND A LEAK. IN FEBRUARY THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED I REPLACE THE CAP IN CASE IT IS EVAPORATING. I REPLACED THE CAP END OF APRIL AND ONCE AGAIN IN MAY THE LIGHT CAN BACK ON. I FILL THE COOLANT TO THE MAX LINE, BUT AFTER A MONTH IT IS AT THE MIN LINE OR SOMETIMES LOWER. I SAW THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE, BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS ISSUE AS MY CAR CAN FAIL WHILE I AM DRIVING AROUND WITH MY INFANT CHILD IN THE CAR. NO MECHANIC CAN SEEM TO HELP ME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER VEHICLE START-UP, THE VEHICLE STALLED SOON AFTER ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OIL AND BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ONCE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOOR FOR THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO PAT MILLIKEN FORD (9600 TELEGRAPH RD, REDFORD CHARTER TWP, MI 48239) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V005000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
MY REAR PASSENGER AND DRIVER DOOR PANELS HAVE COMPLETED BEEN PULLED OFF AND HARD TO OPEN THE DOOR BECAUSE THE PANELS WERE CAUGHT ON THE RECALL DOOR LATCHES. I'VE HAD THE DOOR LATCHES REPLACED AND IT STILL CONTINUED, THEY SAY THE PANELS WON'T BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTIES I HAVE BUT I TOLD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF THE LATCHES THAT WERE RECALLED THAT MY DOOR PANELS ARE DOING THIS IF THE LATCHES WERE GOOD AND NOT RECALLED IN THE FIRST PLACE I WOULD NOT HAVE THE ISSUE. SINCE MY PANELS ARE MESSED UP BECAUSE OF A RECALL SPECIFICALLY MADE ON MY VEHICLE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY 400-600 TO GET MY DOOR PANELS REPLACED WHEN IT WAS OUT OF MY CONTROL
DRIVERS SEAT BACK HEAT GOT VERY HOT AND STARTED TO MELT THE SEAT BACK COVER. REMOVED FUSE.
ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL CONTINUES TO DROP IN RESERVOIR. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND MAINTAINED PER FORD. COOLANT HAS BEEN ADDED TWICE AT DEALERSHIP ALTHOUGH COOLANT SYSTEM IS REPUTEDLY SEALED. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER FORD'S EARLIER RECALL. CAR IS USED IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS (HIGHWAY, AROUND TOWN).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND PROVIDED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER: 192100, P1744. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER PERFORMANCE CIRCUIT WAS HIGH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB GILLINGHAM FORD (216-398-1300, LOCATED AT 8383 BROOKPARK RD, PARMA, OH 44129) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT AN UNKNOWN MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.
My coolant system has leaked for the last 5 or 6 years. It has been worked on by Ford and by independent mechanics. The last time, Ford said it was fixed and I shouldn’t have any problems. It still leaks and it is unknown where it is going.
A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE LOOKED AT. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE TORQUE CONVERTER WENT BAD - EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAVE 51,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. BASICALLY THE CLUTCH SLIPS WHEN I DRIVE. THEY TOLD ME TO REPLACE THAT IT WOULD BE ALMOST $5000 BUT THAT THEY RECOMMENDED JUST REPLACING THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION SINCE IT'S ONLY $900 MORE. I ASKED IF THIS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY AND THEY SAID IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE WHOLE THING GOES OUT COMPLETELY. NOW I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHETHER IT IS SAFE TO EVEN DRIVE TO TRY TO GET A SECOND OPINION. PARTS OF A TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT GO OUT ON SUCH A LOW MILEAGE CAR. CLEARLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THIS MODEL AS NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR ISSUES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WOULD NORMALLY BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY - BECAUSE I AM UNDER 60,000 MILES - BUT THEY SAID IT ISN'T COVERED BECAUSE THAT EXPIRED IN AUGUST. I CALLED 'FORD CUSTOMER CARE' AND THEY JUST SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, NO EXPLANATION. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 40 MPH, THE "ENGINE FAILURE" WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DRIVER SMELLED AND OBSERVED SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE HOOD. A FIRE OCCURRED UNDER THE HOOD AND THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FLAMES HIMSELF. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SONJU ALL AMERICAN SUPERSTORE (LOCATED AT 893 SCENIC DR, TWO HARBORS, MN 55616, (218) 834-2101) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,589.
CURRENT ISSUE IS HEAD GASKET OVERHEATED AND BLEW. COOLANT IS INTERNALLY LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. CAR BLOWS OUT A TON OF EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING AND HAS THE SMELL OF COOLANT IN IT. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY ANYMORE BECAUSE THE CAR OVERHEATS AND LIMITS MY SPEED TO 45 MPH. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PULL OVER JUST TO LET IT COOL DOWN. EVERY TIME THE CAR STARTS UP IT VIBRATES SO MUCH THAT ITS QUITE ANNOYING. SOMETIMES THE CAR SHUTS OFF RIGHT AFTER I START IT IN THE MORNING, RIGHT AFTER A CRAZY BURST OF VIBRATION. A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO I STARTED MY CAR AND IT VIBRATED SO MUCH AND THEN SO MUCH OIL LEAKED FROM MY CAR, EXHAUST BLEW OUT DARK BLACK SMOG AND SMOKE WAS COMING FROM MY HOOD. CAR IS REALLY LOUD ON IDLE, NEVER BEEN IN A CAR SO LOUD WITH SO MUCH VIBRATION ALL THROUGHOUT THE CAR. CAR CONSTANTLY OVERHEATS AND HAS NO POWER WHEN DRIVING. CAR VIBRATES INSANELY WHEN I'M IDLE AT A RED LIGHT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF EVERY OTHER DAY. MY MECHANIC HAS DONE RESEARCH ON THE CAR AND SAYS TO GET RID OF IT, IT'S NOT EVEN WORTH FIXING; HE SAYS YOU'LL END UP SPENDING JUST AS MUCH MONEY FIXING THIS IN THE LONG RUN THAN JUST BUYING A NEW CAR. MY MECHANIC SAID FIXING THE HEAD GASKET WONT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM, YOU NEED AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE AND CYLINDER BLOCK. WE'VE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS CAR/MODEL AND EVERYONE'S HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND CAN'T REALLY GET DOWN TO THE BOTTOM LINE ON WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I'M CURIOUS IF EVERYONE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR/MODEL THAT THERE'S NO MAJOR RECALL ON IT. INSTEAD PEOPLE ARE DRIVING AROUND WITH A LOUD CAR THAT CONSTANTLY VIBRATES, LEAKS COOLANT INTO THE ENGINE AND HAVING TO CONSTANTLY TAKE IT TO THE SHOP.
POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND MADE IT REALLY HARD TO STEER WHILE DRIVING. I'M GLAD I WAS STOPPED WHEN IT CAME ON OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE HAD A WRECK, I'M SURE OF IT! ALSO WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE I NOTICED THERE WERE A TON OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL COMPLAINING OF THE ISSUE. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!
TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 70,000 MILES WHILE TRAVELING 60 MILES PER HOUR ON A STATE HIGHWAY. LURCHED 2 - 3 TIMES THEN TRANSMISSION FAILURE LIGHT WENT OFF. NO POWER AT ALL. FORTUNATELY THERE NO WERE VEHICLES BEHIND ME OR SURELY I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. WAS ABLE TO GET OFF ROAD. NEED TOTAL REPLACEMENT $3,700. 5 PAYMENTS LEFT ON ORIGINAL LOAN. EXTENDED WARRANTY AT DEALER WAS TOO EXPENSIVE.
2014 FORD ESCAPE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, IT LURCHED HAD WE BEEN ON A FREEWAY WE ARE CERTAIN THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC.
CAR STALLS AT IDLE ESPECIALLY AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, AND RESTARTING IT AFTER A FEW MINUTES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART AND IT STALLS AGAIN. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS THE CAR STARTS AND DRIVES NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN IN MOTION AT SLOW SPEEDS ON THE CITY STREET.
MY VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND SMOKE UP. A MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND THOUGHT IT WAS THE VACUUM PUMP OR SOMETHING CLOSE TO THAT NAME. I CAN FILL UP MY COOLANT TO THE MAX LINE AND DRIVE AND BE EMPTY WITHIN MINUTES. THEN I NOTICED A RECALL FOR FORD ESCAPES CONCERNING A COOLANT PROBLEM AND I AM WORRIED. THIS VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW TO ME (ONLY 2 YEARS) AND STILL UNDER 6 YEARS OLD. I AM AFRAID THAT MY VEHICLE WILL COMBUST WITH MY KIDS IN IT. WE CANT FIND WHERE THE COOLANT IS COMING FROM AND ITS A REAL SCARE.
2 MONTHS AGO, MY CAR DIED IN AS I WAS EXITING THE INTERSTATE. TRANSMISSION ISSUES - REPAIRED AFTER 2 MONTHS. DROVE IT OUT OF TOWN AND SECOND DAY BEING OUT OF TOWN ENGINE LIGHT ON. BROUGHT IT BACK TO MECHANIC AND TRANSMISSION MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS NO TRANS CODE PRESENT, BUT FOLLOWING CODES PRESENT P1116 AND P0234. UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR AGAIN UNTIL LIGHT ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF AND THIS REPAIR IS OUT OF POCKET AGAIN.
MY CAR WAS FIRST SPUTTERING WHEN TURNING IT ON THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEN IT GOT HARDER TO START WHEN TURNING IT ON AND WAS RUNNING ROUGH. IT WAS THE VACUUM PURGE VALVE. I HAD IT REPLACED. NOW I HAVE 112,000 MILES ON MY CAR NOW AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AFTER HAVING IT REPLACED. THE CODE IS P1450. THERE ARE RECALLS ON THE SAME YEAR AND ENGINE 4 CYLINDER, 2.0 TURBO, FORD FOCUS BUT NOT SHOWING AS A RECALL FOR THE 2014 ESCAPE. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND YEAR MODEL OF ESCAPE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM TO CAUSE IT TWICE.
BOTH REAR DOORS ON MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE SUDDENLY STOPPED OPENING EITHER FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE THEREBY TRAPPING THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK SEAT WITHOUT A WAY TO EXIT THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY. YESTERDAY THE DOORS WORKED FINE THEN TODAY BROKEN. NOTHING CHANGED WITH THE VEHICLE....NO ACCIDENTS OR ABUSE OF ANY KIND. CAR WAS LOCATED IN MY DRIVEWAY.
WE WERE MERGING INTO A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE SUDDENLY. THE ENGINE WOULD REV, BUT WOULD NOT MOVE. WE PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, STARTED AGAIN AND IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD AND GO FOR A COUPLE HUNDRED FEET AND THEN DIE AGAIN. WE HAD CARS SWERVING AROUND US AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED. MY WIFE WAS CRYING AND TERRIFIED. IT TURNS OUT TO BE THE TRANSMISSION. I LOOKED ONLINE THIS MORNING AND SAW ENDLESS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2014 ESCAPE BUT NO RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND TRAVELING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR TO MOVE WITH TRAFFIC. VEHICLE LOST POWER. A FEW DAYS LATER ON ANOTHER BUSY HIGHWAY DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES AN HOUR, THE COMPUTER READ TRANSMISSION FAILED. MY MILEAGE WAS 59,647 WHICH WAS UNDER THE 60,000 WARRANTY BUT OUT OF DATE. I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 49,443 MILES ON 8/1/18. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE CAR TO SUNNY SIDE MOTORS A AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION FAILED MESSAGE DIAGNOSIS DONE AT THE COST OF $159.95 TO FIND OUT THE REPAIR WOULD COST ME $2712.19 WHICH WOULD NOT BE COVER UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE TEST RETRIEVE CODE P1744 FOR TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH PERFORMED, PRESSURE DROPPING OUT OF SPEC WHEN WARM CHECKED FLUID CONDITION AND FOUND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH DAMAGED CAUSING INTERNAL CONTAMINATION AND NEEDS INTERNAL REPAIRS. BEING A SINGLE WOMEN AT 72 YEARS OF AGE, AND BEING A SURVIVOR OF A NEAR FATAL ACCIDENT IN JANUARY OF 2018, WHICH TOOK ME 8 MONTHS TO GET BACK BEHIND A WHEEL OF A CAR I ONCE AGAIN FIND MYSELF FEELING UNSAFE DRIVING A CAR THAT JUST RANDOMLY LOSES POWER. AFTER READING MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME EXISTING PROBLEMS AS I AM EXPERIENCING I AM VERY CONCERNED WHY THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN A FACTORY RECALL. VERY UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING AND YOU LOSE POWER. HOPEFULLY A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED BASED ON THE MANY COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN PLACED. THE 1ST DEALERSHIP I VISITED IN WESTBOROUGH MA HAD A WAIT TIME OF 3 WEEKS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TEAM FORD LINCOLN, INC. (1813 4TH AVE S, DENISON, IA 51442) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD HAD A CRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED AT ABOUT 75,000 MILES. CAR STALLS AFTER ADDING GAS AND WILL OCCASIONALLY STALL AT "IDLE". WILL ALSO OCCASIONALLY HUM FROM THE GAS TANK COVER. HAD TO HAVE THE PURGE SOLENOID/CANISTER (REPLACED 4 TIMES), SEAL PUMP AND OTHER PARTS TO THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE.
POWER STEERING FAILS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN IN MOTION AND TURNING...SOMETIMES BEFORE PULLING OUT. THIS HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY FORD AS A RACK AND PINION ISSUE WITH A REPAIR QUOTE OF $2,164 TO REPLACE. THE CAR HAS UNDER 69,000 MILES.
WHILE IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND/STUMBLES BETWEEN 1800 AND 2000 RPMS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME UNSTABLE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO ADDRESS ANY ISSUE. I THEN CONTACTED 2 OTHER DEALERSHIPS. I SUGGESTED THAT IT MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE NOT LOOKING AT ANY TRANSMISSION ISSUES. "THIS CAME DOWN FROM MANAGEMENT" THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SHARED. MY TEENAGE DRIVER IS DRIVING THE CAR AND I AM CONCERNED THAT AN ACCIDENT IS EMINENT.
EVERY TIME I GET GAS THE CAR HAVE TROUBLE STARTING BACK UP. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN WHILE DRIVING, AND RANDOMLY STOPS. TODAY 10/28/2019 I WAS ON THE EWAY GOING WEST OF 465 INDIANAPOLIS AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN NSTOPPED BEFORE I CAN EVEN PULL OVER. I SAT THERE FOR 5 MINS CAR OFF AND IT TURNED BACK ON. I HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF N START BACK UP. ENGINE LIGHT BATTERY AND TRANS LIGHT HAVE ALL CAME ON AMD IT SHUTS OFF AND COME BACK ON LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED YET AUTO SHOPS CAN NOT FIND A DIAGNOSTIC FOR THE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, INDICATING "REDUCING POWER DUE TO OVERHEATING" AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN MESSAGE APPEARED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID NOT SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY OIL DUE TO A LEAK. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,148.
WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION OUR 2014 FORD ESCAPE STALLS. WE TURN THE KEY OFF, TURN IT BACK IN AND IT WILL SOMETIMES RUN FOR A BIT BEFORE STALLING AGAIN AND SOMETIMES STALL IMMEDIATELY. CURRENTLY THIS HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND PARKING LOTS. ONCE WHILE TURNING. OTHERS GOING STRAIGHT. LUCKILY WE HAVE NOT HAD THIS HAPPEN ON THE INTERSTATE YET.
CAR WAS RUNNING FINE WHEN IT JUST CAUGHT FIRE. NO WARNING SIGNS. DRIVER LUCKY TO BE ALIVE
MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE DRIVING HOME FROM HER SISTERS HOME AND ABOUT 5 MILES IN A LINE OF TRAFFIC ON A 2 LANE ROADWAY CROSSING A BRIDGE WHEN SHE LOST POWER AN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REACH OVER A SPEED OF 10MPH. THIS IN TURN PUT MY WIFE AND CHILDREN IN DANGER WITH TRAFFIC MOVING AT A RATE OF 40MPH DROPPING TO 10 MPH WITH RPMS JUMPING TO BETWEEN 6 AN 7 RPMS . SHE LUCKILY MADE IT ACROSS THE BRIDGE WHERE SHE FOUND A WIDE SPOT TO PULL OFF. WHEN I ARRIVED I CHECKED FOR FLUID ON THE GROUND THERE WAS NONE. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND REVERSE AND IT WAS ABUNDENTLY CLEAR IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD MAKE A SLAMMING/BOOMING SOUND AS IT TRIED TO ENGAGE. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THERE WAS NO POWER BEHIND THE VEHICLE TO PICK UP ANY ACCELERATION. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST THE NEXT DAY WHERE HE WAS QUICK TO LET ME KNOW WE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD ON A SMOOTH HIGHWAY 215 OUTSIDE SALT LAKE CITY, THE FORWARD MOVEABLE SUNROOF PANEL BLEW OUT. IT SOUNDED LIKE A LOUD EXPLOSION OR GUNSHOT IN THE CAR. WE WERE NOT NEAR AN OVERPASS, NOR WERE ANY OTHER CARS IN THE VICINITY - ROCK OR DEBRIS DID NOT CAUSE THIS. CAR IS GARAGED AND WELL MAINTAINED. 5 YEARS OLD WITH 33,334 MILES.
BROKEN FLYWHEEL ON 2014 FORD ESCAPE. AUTO SHOP BELIEVES THIS SHOULD OF BEEN A RECALL SINCE THE NEW FLYWHEEL HAD A COMPLETELY NEW LOOK. SO THEY BELIEVE IT WAS CHANGED DUE TO OTHERS HAVING THIS ISSUE AND DID THIS TO AVOID A RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRANKLIN FORD (175 E CENTRAL ST, FRANKLIN, MA 02038) WHERE IT WAS THEY DETERMINED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,400.
THE TRANSMISSION OF MY 2014 CAR WITH 77,000 MILES NEEDS TO BE REPLACED PER MY FORD DEALER. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO COAST TO A NEARBY EXIT WITHOUT HARMING MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE. THE DEALER SAID THAT MY TORQUE CONVERTER 'GRENADED' AND THEN BLADE PIECES BLEW THROUGH THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND WERE NOT PRESENT IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. I ASKED IF THIS WAS NORMAL FOR A 5 YEAR OLD CAR TO NEED ITS TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT FORD SAID 'HONESTLY...NO, BUT IT IS SOMETHING WE HAVE SEEN BEFORE' I THEN SAID 'YOU MEAN WITH ESCAPES?' AND THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID 'YES'. HE SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION TECH HAS REBUILT SEVERAL TRANSMISSIONS IN THE ESCAPE THAT WERE EVEN STILL UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM YET THE COMPANY HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. WHAT ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVERS? WHO WILL HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE?
MY FAMILY AND I (WIFE AND NEWBORN) WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I NOTICED A LACK OF POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. SUDDENLY THE FORD ESCAPE BEGAN SHIFTING UP AND DOWN RAPIDLY. THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, AND THE ENGINE WAS WORKING, BUT THERE WAS A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND SLIGHT GRINDING NOISE. IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. WE COASTED TO THE SHOULDER AND WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE SHOP THAT RECEIVED THE FORD ESCAPE FOUND INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND QUOTED US FOR A REPLACEMENT. THE PRICE FOR THE REPLACEMENT IS OVER HALF OF WHAT THE VEHICLE IS WORTH! (ACCORDING TO KBB)
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR EXHIBITS AN ENGINE HIGH HEAR AND ENTERS SAFE MODE AND RAPIDLY DECELERATING. THIS HAPPENED ONCE AND WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER AS A BAD PART FROM A PREVIOUS RECALL 17S09. IT OCCURRED AGAIN JUST RECENTLY AND WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED (COOLANT HOSE PROBLEMS) AND DID IT AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. IN BOTH CASES THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 50 MPH ON A BUSY ROAD AND WE WERE LUCKY TO EXIT THE ROAD TO A SAFE AREA. THE ORIGINAL RECALL WAS RELATED TO ENGINE FIRES BUT THIS IS ANOTHER SAFETY HAZARD. IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE THAT THE RECALL ACTION BY FORD IS INADEQUATE TO CORRECT THE CONDITION.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. NOTICED FLUID ON A HOSE UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHILE PERFORMING AN OIL CHANGE. ALSO OBSERVED THE FLUID POOLING AND DISCOLORING UNDERSIDE OF ENGINE. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO LOUISBURG FORD. SERVICE TEAM INFORMED ME THAT THE TURBO HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. COOLANT ALSO APPEARS LOW WITHOUT EXPLANATION. JUST BOUGHT VEHICLE USED FROM LOUISBURG WITH 74,000 MILES IN FEBRUARY 2019. NOW 86,000 MILES.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON BY THEMSELVES WHILE IN OFF POSITION WHILE DRIVING, STOPPED AND PARKED. CAN NOT TURN THEM OFF MANUALLY, HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF TO MAKE IT STOP. THEY DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK EITHER. WIPERS GO AS SHORT AS 5 WIPES EVERY 5 SECONDS TO UP TO 30 SECONDS-MINUTE OPERATING IN THE OFF POSITION. WIPERS DO NOT ALWAYS TURN ON. WHEN TESTING TO SEE IF THEY WILL COME ON, SOMETIMES THEY DO NOT TURN ON. CONCERN FOR THEM NOT TURNING ON WHEN IT RAINS. BEEN GOING ON FOR 6 DAYS STRAIGHT. LUCKILY THERE HASN'T BEEN RAIN, YET.
FOR THE LAST 3 TO 4 MONTHS MY CAR WOULD START UNTIL I STOPPED FOR GAS ,THEN WHEN I TRIED TO START IT THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD FLASH OFF AND ON AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WOULD GO DEAD.STARTING THIS WEEK 11-10-2019 UNTIL TODAY 11-16-2019 EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO GO ANY PLACE THE VECHILE HAS TO BE JUMPED OFF.THE SECOND YOU JUMP IT IT STARTS SO IT IS NOT THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,375.

MY CAR IS APPROACHING THE 60 MO. DEADLINE WARRANTY DATE. THE STEERING IS ELECTRONIC SO I CANNOT SERVICE BELT OR FLUID. THE STEERING "LOCKS UP" PERIODICALLY SO I HAVE NO POWER ASSIST AND LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. WITH WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS, I WILL BE VERY LIKELY TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT INJURING ME OR SOMEONE ELSE. THIS HAPPENS IN STATIONARY AND MOVING MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER OR PARK THE CAR. THE DEALER TELLS ME THERE IS NO FACTORY HELP AND A NEW STEERING GEAR AND RACK WILL COST ABOUT $2000.00 !!!

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DAYS LATER AND AROUND THE SAME TIME NOTICED LOW COOLANT ALERTS. TOPPED OFF COOLANT BUT ALSO NOTICED COOLANT WOULD BE RETURNED TO RESERVOIR WHEN REMOVING THE CAP TO REFILL. CAR CONTINUES TO RUN ROUGH SO I TAKE IT IN TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. CODE COMES BACK SAYING IT'S A COIL PACKAGE. REPAIRS ARE MADE, CAR RUNS GREAT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF. A DAY LATER THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AND SO DOES THE LOW COOLANT WARNING. TOP OFF COOLANT AND DECIDE TO TAKE IT INTO A DEALER. I DO MY RESEARCH ONLINE AND FIND THIS IS IS QUITE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. DEALER TELLS ME I HAVE A COOLANT LEAK IN CYLINDER 3 MUCH LIKE OTHER REPORTS I READ. THEY CLAIM IT'S A DIFFERENT ISSUE FROM THE COOLANT RECALL FORD ISSUED. I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THIS IS THE CASE AND AM MINDBLOWN FORD DOESN'T HAVE A REMEDY FOR THIS ISSUE.
WHILE TRAVELING ON A TWO LANE STATE ROAD AT APPROX.45 MPH. AT NIGHT. A CLUNKING NOISE BEGAN NEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. SECONDS AFTER HEARING THE CLUNKING NOISE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE STILL TRAVELING AROUND 35 MPH. WHEN I TRIED TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I NOTICE A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO COAST ON TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. HAVING ONLY SECONDS TO REMOVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE DARK ROADWAY AND SAFELY STOP WITH OUT STRIKING ANYTHING OR BODY WAS TERRIFYING. THE VEHICLE DID RESTART BUT WHEN SELECTING DRIVE IT WOULD NOT MOVE. IT ALSO WOULD NOT BACK UP WHEN SELECTING REVERSE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. I WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY BY THE REPAIR SHOP THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, AND HAD TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. I CALLED MFG. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED BECAUSE THERE WAS A 60000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY . HOWEVER THE VEHICLE HAD 64,816 CURRENTLY. THEREFORE I HAD TO PAY $ 2295 FOR THE TRANSMISSION REBUILD.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND WAS COMPLETELY UNABLE TO STEER WITHOUT EXTREME EFFORT VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC
ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 5, 2019 AT 11PM OUR 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS STRANDED WITH A POWER STEERING MODULE FAILED ERROR. WE TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST MECHANIC WHICH WAS ON THE CORNER OF THE ROAD SHE WAS STRANDED AT. THE CAR COULD BE DRIVEN BUT SHE COULD HAVE NEVER STEERED IT. IT TOOK EVERYTHING FOR MY HUSBAND TO BE ABLE TO GET IT THERE. THE CAR ONLY HAD 106,690 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WE DIDNT HAVE TIME TO TAKE IT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY AREN'T WILLING TO REIMBURSE US. THE 2009-2013 HAD A RECALL FOR THIS SAME ISSUE BUT THE 2014 ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. IT SEEMS LIKE IT STILL SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE.
