THE TECHNICIAN RETRIEVED DTC NUMBER: P0236 AND REPLACED THE TURBO SENSOR WIRING HARNESS. THE MAP SENSOR WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,850.
MY 2015 FORD ESCAPE LOST POWER STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. I HAD MY FAMILY, INCLUDING MY 2 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME. I WAS UNABLE TO STEER AND ALMOST DROVE OFF THE ROAD. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY WERE OF NO HELP. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS IT.
I WENT TO MAKE A TURN INTO A PARKING LOT I LOST STEERING AND A LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH THAT SAID DRIVER ASSIST.I WRESTLED TO GET VEHICLE HOME AFTER WAITING TO NEXT DAY TO HAVE SOMEONE FOLLOW TO DEALER STEERING CANE BACK BUT WHEN I ARRIVED TO TURN INTO DEALER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN WHICH IS DANGEROUS.I TALKED TO DEALER WHO SHOWED ME A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS STYLE VEHICLE HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL AND QUOTED $2400.00 TO REPAIR WHICH I COULD NOT AFFORD.THE VEHICLE IS 5YRS OLD WITH 4100 MILES
67K MILES ON ENGINE, OVERHEATED GOING 30 MPH ON RURAL HWY AND ENGINE WARNING CAME ON. DEALERSHIP DISCOVERS THE ANTIFREEZE HAS LEAKED INTO THE PISTON CYLINDERS AND NEEDS A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $8000. ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED SINCE AT LEAST 2014 AND FORD REFUSES TO HELP WITH COSTS.

OKLAHOMA CITY) WHO INDICATED THAT NO COOLANT WAS PRESENT IN THE COOLANT CONTAINER AND THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE HOWEVER, THE GEAR SHIFTER CEASED IN REVERSE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN REVERSE GEAR WITH THE BACK UP CAMERA ACTIVATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

THE CONTACTS HUSBAND AND A BYSTANDER MANAGED TO EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. NO BODILY INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS CONTACTED FOR TREATMENT FOR HER HUSBANDS ODOR IN VENTILATION FROM THE FIRE. ERIE INSURANCE WAS CONTACTED AND TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
I HAD THICK WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM MY EXHAUST WITH 98,XXX MILES AND MY DEALERSHIP MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT COOLANT WAS GETTING INTO MY CYLINDERS DUE TO EITHER A BLOWN HEAD GASKET OR A DEFECT IN THE WATER PUMP DESIGN. I HAD AN ENGINE WITH 18,XXX MILES PUT INTO MY CAR AND 20-30 MINUTES AFTER DRIVING IT, IT WAS SMOKING AGAIN. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AGAIN. THE ENGINE IN MY CAR IS THE SAME ENGINE IN THE 2013 MODEL OF MY VEHICLE AND THE 2013 MODEL GOT RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
SITTING AT STOP LIGHT (HIGHWAY) LIGHT TURNED GREEN PRESSED ACCELERATOR .CAR'S RPMS WENT UP CAR DID NOT MOVE. I WAS THE AT THE STOP LIGHT, CARS APPROACHING FAST. FORTUNATE LIGHT TRAFFIC ALL CARS WERE ABLE TO SWITCH LANES WITH OUT ANY MISHAPS. INDICATOR "SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW" WENT ON CAR LUNGED A FEW TIMES THEN MOVED FORWARD. EACH TIME I STOPPED SAME EVENT OCCURRED. I DROVE BACKROADS AS NOT TO INTERFERE WITH MAJOR TRAFFIC AND FEARFUL OF NOT MOVING AND CREATING A MAJOR INCIDENT. NO PRIOR SYMPTOMS IT JUST HAPPENED. 2015 FORD ESCAPE.

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER HAS FAILED. FORD RECALLED CERTAIN 2014-2015 ESCAPES BUT NOT MINE. I WOULD LIKE MY VEHICLE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SO THIS FAILED UNIT CAN BE REPACED.
WHEN I GARAGE THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING AROUND 50 MILES THAT DAY. THE NEXT DAY IT WILL NOT START.THE NEXT DAY IT WILL START. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS UNABLE TO BE SHIFTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NORTH SIDE FORD LOCATED AT 12300 SAN PEDRO AVE, SAN ANTONIO TX, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE SHIFTER CABLE. THE SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,042.*DT*JB
THE DOOR LATCH FAILED. THIS RESULTS IN A DOOR THAT WILL FLY OPEN AND WON'T CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME OF FAILURE.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERS WHILE PARKING IN A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED INTO REVERSE AND WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, PARK, OR DRIVE. THE CAR NEEDED TO BE TURNED OFF WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN PLACE SO THAT IT WOULD NOT CONTINUE TO TRAVEL IN REVERSE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE CAR, THE SHIFTER REMAINED IN THE R POSITION BUT THE DASHBOARD NOW DISPLAYED THE CAR WAS IN N. THE SHIFTER WAS EVENTUALLY FORCED INTO THE PARK POSITION, BUT THE DISPLAY REMAINED IN N. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND THE SHIFT CABLE BUSHING WAS REPLACED. THERE HAVE BEEN PART RECALLS ON THIS PART IN EARLIER MODELS OF FORD ESCAPES AND ON THE SAME YEAR (2015) OF FORD FUSION MODELS.
WHEN I PARKED THE CAR I TURNED THE KEY TO STOP THE ENGINE AND KEPT GOING, I PUT THE KEY BACK TO SIMULATE TURNING IT ON AND AGAIN TURNING IT OFF AND IT WAS THE SAME. I TRIED TO RUN THE CAR TO SEE IF IT WILL STOPP FOR A WHILE BUT THE CAR KEPT RUNNING. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND I FOUND THAT IT WILL COULD HAVE A RECALL, WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ..THEY WILL CHECK THE ISSUE.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, he noticed that the front end of the vehicle was vibrating. A bystander informed the contact that a part had detached and was dragging underneath the front end of the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road and noticed that the skid plate or engine splash guard had detached. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the skid plate and inserts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact purchased the skid plate and screws from the dealer and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic replaced the skid plate and the screws; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated that the skid plate was replaced two more times and the screws were replaced 3 more times by an independent mechanic; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BUT IF PUSH 3 TIMES AS HARD ENGINE SHUT OFF (FEW DAYS PREVIOUSLY AND AFTER BUTTON FELT AND WORKED FINE). VEHICLE WENT BACK TO DEALER TODAY FOR THIS SECOND NEW BEARING IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. PERIODICALLY ON WAY TO DROP OFF VEHICLE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE AND DIGITAL DISPLAY NUMBER BOUNCED INTERMITTANTLY TO ZERO AND BACK TO SPEED. ABS LIGHT , "I" , AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ON. MYSTERIOUS DRAW ON BATTERY CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DIE AFTER SITTING. BATTERY/ALTERNATOR TEST FINE. NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN? I HAVE TO KEEP PORTABLE JUMP STARTER IN THE CAR. HAVE SEEN MANY POSTS OF OTHER ESCAPE OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO AN ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM.
DRIVING MY 2015 FORD ESCAPE 1.6 TURBO ON INTERSTATE, STARTED TO FEEL LIKE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING BUT A FEW DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CODE P26B7 AT DEALER (CODE P0012 AT O'REILLY AUTO PARTS). O'REILLY SAYS IT WAS A GENERIC CODE FOR "CAM SHAFT SENSOR" BUT FORD SAYS THE CODE P26B7 IS COOLANT BYPASS VALVE C NEEDS REPLACED COSTING ABOUT $500. I NOTICED THERE ARE A TON OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME 2015 ESCAPE AND EVEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE 1.6 TURBO. OBVIOUSLY THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THE 2015 AS WELL! ALSO FORD DEALER MIKE MURPHY FORD IN MORTON IL SAYS MY TRANSMISSION IS FINE THOUGH I DON'T FEEL LIKE IT IS.
THIS VEHICLE HAS APPROX 45,000 MILES, REGULARLY SERVICED. HUSBAND DROVE HOME FROM WORK AND HAD ISSUES ACCELERATING. RPM'S WOULD GO UP BUT THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO RESPOND VERY WELL TO PUSHING ON THE GAS. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD US THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AS A PIECE OF IT (NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT PIECE) HAD BROKEN OFF WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION AND HAD DESTROYED IT.

RADIO AND CD SYSTEM STOPPED PLAYING FOR FOUR DAYS, THEN CAME BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO TIMES BEFORE BUT CAME BACK ON THE SAME DAY. FORD DEALER PERSON TOLD ME TO DISCONNECT BATTERY CABLE FOR 10 MINUTES AND WHEN I CONNECT IT BACK THE SYSTEM WOULD RESET ITSELF. I DID NOT WANT TO TRY THAT, NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED. THE WIPERS ON THE LOW SETTING RUNS STEADY BUT STOPS MAKING IT HARD TO SEE BECAUSE OF THE RAIN UNLESS I PRESS WIPER ARM. WE WERE DRIVING ON A RURAL HIGHWAY AT A STEADY SPEED WHEN WITH NO WARNING OUR VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION POWER AND CAME TO A DEAD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WHEN WE PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL THE RPMS WOULD YOU UP BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON WOULD RESTORE POWER FOR ONLY A MOMENT BEFORE WE LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THANK GOD WE WERE NOT ON THE HIGHWAY OR THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE SERIOUS. AFTER PUSHING OUR CAR A HALF MILE THE CAR FINALLY GAVE ME A FAULTY TRANSMISSION ALERT. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 71K MILES AND RECEIVES REGULAR MAINTENANCE. PURCHASED MY 2015 FORD ESCAPE 10/12/19 FROM CARDINALEWAY HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN CORONA CA. FEBRUARY 1, RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. 02/07/20 I WAS GOING TO LUNCH AND WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE IT SOUNDED LIKE I WAS DRAGGING SOMETHING UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR. PARKED CAR IMMEDIATELY AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAYS MY IT'S MY TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION ALMOST FELL FROM THE CAR. NO WARRANTY AND NO REMEDY AS IF YET.
TODAY, 1/29/2020 @ APPROX 755AM I WAS EXITING S BOUND K-7 ONTO COLLEGE BLVD IN OLATHE KS. THERE IS APPROX 1/2 INCH OF SLUSH ON THE GROUND. I WAS GOING ABOUT 45-50MPH AND APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET FROM THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED YELLOW AND I TRIED TO STOP. MY BREAKPEDAL STARTED VIBRATING AND WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DEPRESSED. THE STABILITY LIGHT ON MY DASH LIT UP. I SLID UPHILL OVER 50 FEET AND INTO THE INTERSECTION. I HAD NO ABILITY TO STOP. I WAS POWERLESS TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF MY VEHILCLE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE'S SYSTEM OVERRODE ME AS A DRIVER. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED BUT THAT ONLY BECAUSE THE OTHER CARS HAD NOTICED MY LACK OF CONTROL AND DIDN'T ENTER THE INTERSECTION. AGAIN, I HAD NO ABILITY TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE STABILITY CONTROL OVERRODE MY DRIVING ABILITY. AS SOON AS I SKIDDED TO A STOP THE ESC TURNED OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE, STEER AND BREAK APPROPRIATELY. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED BECAUSE NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. I HOPE THERE ARE TRAFFIC CAMERAS AND RECORDINGS OF THIS. I INTEND TO TRADE IN THIS VEHICLE TODAY TO ZECK FORD IN LEAVENWORTH KS, WHERE I BOUGHT IT IN JULY 2016.

OUT OF NOWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY VEHICLE REFUSED TO MOVE FROM STOP LIGHT, BLOCKING THE LANE. RPM WENT UP NO ENGAGEMENT NOT EVEN A BIT. TURNED IGNITION OFF/ON, PUT IN DRIVE, CAR MOVED 100 FEET AND STOP AGAIN. I REALIZED THIS ISN'T A FLUKE BUT SERIOUS PROBLEM, SO AFTER SEVERAL TRIES BY SWITCHING HESITANTLY FROM N TO D TO S WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 300 FEET TO CLOSEST SAFEWAY PARKING AND CALL FOR TOWING. LONG STORY SHORT, AFTER SPECIALIZED TRANSMISSION SHOP IN THE AREA WAS ABLE TO CHECK IT OUT AND TAKE IT FOR TEST DRIVE VERDICT WAS "ITS PROBABLY NOT THAT BAD, SOMETHING IS BLOCKING TRANSMISSION FILTER, SEEMS LIKE TRANSFER CASE ISSUE, WE SEE THAT A LOT ON AWD MODELS FOR THESE ESCAPES. HOWEVER ONLY AFTER WE TAKE IT OUT WE CAN DECIDE IF SOMETHING IS BROKEN IN TRANSMISSION ITSELF " SO APPARENTLY THIS WAS A GOOD NEWS WHICH WILL COST $2500 AND IF SOMETHING ELSE WILL BE FOUND IN TRANSMISSION $4500. WE GOT THIS CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE FORD DEALER AND TIMELY DONE ALL SERVICES AT FORD DEALERSHIP FOR ALL THESE YEARS, THIS KIND OF THINGS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON WELL TAKEN CARE VEHICLE OFF AT ONLY 75000 MILES
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR ROAD WHEN A DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES BUT HIT THE DEER ANYWAY. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH WHEN I HIT THE DEER WITH THE FRONT OF MY CAR. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE GRILL, BUMPER, AND HOOD RECEIVED MAJOR DAMAGE AND NEEDS REPLACED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
RANDOMLY LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING OR MAKING A QUICK, OR SHARP, LEFT TURN, LIKE TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED UP TO 3 TIMES IN A WEEK. DOES NOT REGISTER AS A FAULT ON THE CAR COMPUTER CHIP. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, THEN IT TEMPORARILY FAILED THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THEN RESET ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER AFTER PULLING OVER AND SHUTTING OFF THE CAR, WAIT, THEN RESTART.
TRANSMISSION CABLE BROKE SUDDENLY WHILE PARKING. CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD TO BE TOWED.
STARTING ON THE EVENING OF JANUARY 9, 2020, MY CAR WOULD STALL WHEN IDLING. AFTER RESTARTING, AND WHILE DRIVING HOME; THE CAR STALLED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 10, 2020 HOWEVER AFTER PICKING MY DAUGHTER UP, THE CAR STARTED STALLING WHEN IDLING, AND IT CONTINUED TO STALL. IF IT WAS "REVVED" UP, THAN IT SEEMED TO RUN OKAY FOR AWHILE. IT RAN FINE ON THE MORNING OF SATURDAY, JANUARY 11, 2020 HOWEVER IT STARTED STALLING AROUND 12:00. I STOPPED AT A LOCAL MECHANICS SHOP AND WAS TOLD TO GO TO A FORD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THERE ARE "SILENT" RECALLS. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL BUT I MANAGED TO STOP AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE, EXPLAINED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, AND IT WAS SUGGESTED PUTTING FUEL INJECTOR IN, WHICH I PURCHASED AT THE TIME THAN FILLED MY GAS TANK UP. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, JIM SHORKEY IN WHITE OAK AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 13, 2020 HOWEVER AFTER THE LAST TIME THE VEHICLE STALLED, I HAD A HARD TIME RESTARTING IT, AND IT WAS NOT DOING ANYTHING WHEN I WAS PUSHING IN THE GAS PEDAL SO I CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, AND HAD IT TOWED TO JIM SHORKEY.,
I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD, AND OUT OF NO WHERE, MY CAR JUST STOPPED MOVING. IT WAS STILL ON, BUT WOULDN'T MOVE. AFTER PUTTING THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS, IT FINALLY MOVED BUT WAS REALLY JERKY FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL MINUTES UNTIL I WAS HOME. WHEN I TRIED TO TAKE IT TO GET CHECKED, IT DID THE SAME THING. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED MY CAR OFF, WAITING SEVERAL MINUTES, AND STARTED IT AGAIN. IT WOULD RUN FINE FOR SEVERAL YARDS, THEN DO THE SAME THING, WHERE IT WOULD JUST STOP MOVING. A CLEAR SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND THE CAR JUST STOPS MOVING. IT'S CURRENTLY AT A FORD DEALERSHIP NOW, AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK. I HAVE NOTICED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2015 FORD ESCAPE. THIS IS ALSO TERRIBLE BECAUSE THE CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 60,000 MILES ON IT. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING, ESPECIALLY IN MULTIPLE CARS!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT ANTI FREEZE OVERFLOWED INTO THE CYLINDER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
PROFUSELY LEAKING WATER INTO CABIN SOAKING REAR HEADLINER ABOVE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS. COMING FROM ROOF RACKS OR SUNROOF, NO DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. CONCERNED LEAKING WATER WILL CAUSE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS TO VEHICLE. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND A TSB ON ISSUE. *TR
THE CAR DOES NOT STOP AS EFFECTIVELY AS IT SHOULD. NEVER DID A GREAT JOB BUT NOW, EVEN WITH BRAND NEW TIRES AND BRAKES, WILL STILL SKID TO A STOP.N
Ford has already recalled a large amount of vehicles due to rear view camera electrical issues. My camera has always worked very intermittently often turning to a blue screen when in Reverse. After a few year this stopped working all together. When taking to Ford dealership and my local mechanic I was informed it is due to the poor/ lack of sealant placed around the camera when manufactured causing the inside to corrode whenever exposed to water/snow. I was quoted over $500 to get the camera and harnessing replaced. This is a safety issue and excessive cost to repair when this is a KNOWN defective issue and already recalled on many other years and models.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE IN OUR 2015 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM, WE BEGAN TO EXIT AND FOUND WE HAD NO BRAKES. WE HAD TO UTILIZE THE PARKING BRAKE IN ORDER TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE POWER ASSIST HAD FAILED BECAUSE THE VACUUM PUMP LOCKED UP CAUSING THE CAM DRIVE TO BREAK INSIDE THE CAM SHAFT. THIS ALSO CAUSED METAL SHAVING CONTAMINATION IN THE ENGINE OF THE CAR WHICH CAN CAUSE THE MOTOR TO LOCK UP AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING. OUR RESEARCH REVEALED THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM IN THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE; HOWEVER, THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED FOR THE 2015 FORD ESCAPE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW/FAULTY PARTS ISSUE THAT STILL HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO SEE IF THEY WOULD DO ANYTHING; BUT THEY REFUSED AND ALSO REFUSED TO LET US SPEAK TO SOMEONE ELSE REGARDING THIS. SO, WE ARE STUCK WITH A $2,200 CAR REPAIR BILL ON A 4 1/2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH 74,000 MILES THAT FORD KNOWS IS AN ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT. THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE POSSIBLY A NEW MOTOR IF IT LOCKS UP DUE TO THE METAL SHAVING CONTAMINATION. THE BRAKES FAILING UNEXPECTEDLY WAS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NOW WE HAVE ANOTHER POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IF THE MOTOR LOCKS UP WHILE WE ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE.
FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I STOPPED FOR GAS. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER REFUELING. A FEW MINUTES LATER IT STARTED AND RAN WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE SECOND TIME I WAS ENTERING A COUNTY HIGHWAY AT APP. 35 MPH AND THE CAR STALLED OUT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT ONTO THE SHOULDER AND THE CAR RESTARTED A FEW MINUTES LATER AND RAN NORMALLY. THE THIRD TIME, APPROXIMATELY A WEEK LATER, I WAS DRIVING IN THE PARKING LOT OF A SHOPPING MALL AT APP 20 MPH. THERE WAS A LOUD, CONTINUOUS NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE I WAS DRAGGING AN OBJECT. THE CAR THEN STALLED AND WOULD NOT START FOR A FEW MINUTES. IT NOW RUNS NORMALLY BUT I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH CAPITAL FORD OF WILMINGTON, NC FOR 12/31/2019. EACH TIME THE STALLING HAPPENED, IT SEEMED AS IF THE ENGINE WAS NOT GETTING ANY GAS.
THE CAR A 2015 FORD ESCAPE SE AWD WITH ~ 86,600 MILES WOULD SHUT OFF AND HAVE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER SITTING FOR AWHILE. IT ALSO STARTED TO RUN A LITTLE ROUGH. SO I TOOK INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND A TUNE UP ON DECEMBER 24TH 2019. AFTER THE TUNE UP IT STILL EXHIBITED THE SAME ROUGH RIDING AND SHUT OFF. THE NEXT DAY ON DECEMBER 25TH AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT SHUTOFF INITIALLY AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY IT SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AND WHITE SMOKE POURED OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. I PULLED IT BACK INTO THE GARAGE, AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MORNING DECEMBER THE 26TH. AFTER SOME TIME THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE ENGINE, AND THAT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS HAD BEEN FOULED WITH COOLANT. AFTER MORE TESTING AND HOLDING THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. WHAT'S ODD IS THAT I NEVER WITNESSED THE CAR OVER HEATING, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON TILL I WAS DRIVING THE CAR BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON THE MORNING OF DECEMBER THE 26TH. FORD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE SAYS THAT THEY'LL PAY 1/4 OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I'VE FOUND QUITE A FEW ESCAPE OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE OF COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY NEED A NEW ENGINE. THESE ENGINES ARE FAILING PREMATURELY DUE TO ENGINES OVER HEATING AND THE BLOCKS FAILING. I SUSPECT THAT THE COOLANT SENSOR IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. THIS 2015 ESCAPE WAS PURCHASED NEW AT THE END OF 2014, AND MAINTAINED BY REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE. *TR
DURING MY LAST OIL CHANGE, 12/23/2019, I WAS TOLD THE TECHNICIAN TOLD HE COULD NOT RE-ATTACH MY "SPLASH SHIELD" DUE EXCESSIVE RUST WHERE THE SHIELD FASTENERS ARE SUPPOSED TO HOLD THE SHIELD IN PLACE. APPROXIMATELY 10 SCREWS CANNOT BE RE-INSTALLED DUE TO RUST. THIS SHIELD IF RE-ATTACHED COULD HAVE FALLEN OFF DURING OPERATION CAUSING UNKNOWN MULTIPLE ISSUES INCLUDING CAUSING A CRASH. MY PROBLEM OCCURRED DURING AN OIL CHANGE, SO I WAS STATIONARY IN THE OIL CHANGE SHOP.
Rack and pinion went out at 66,000 miles. I have send reviews on this make and model that this is a problem. I have talked to multiple mechanics who have adv this is an electric problem in these cars and with different years.
AT 76,851 MILES MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AND ACCORDING TO FORD METAL PIECES FOUND WAS FOUND IN THE FLUID I WAS ON MY WAY HOME WHEN MY VEHICLE JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF ON GOING TRAFFIC I'VE ONLY HAVE IT FOR TWO YEARS AND TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF IT BUT WAS NEVER TOLD THAT ANY TRANSMISSION ISSUES WERE DETECTED BEFORE THAT THE BYPASS COOLANT VALVED CODE WOULD APPEAR EVEN THOUGH I HAVE REPAIR IT TWICE THIS YEAR .
