THIS IS FOUTH FLAT TIRE SINCE PURCHASE. ALWAYS INVOLVED REAR TIRES,EVEN THOUGH TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED. THIS SIZE SHOULD BE RECALLED( DOT NUMBER: VNCU TIRE SIZE: P25570R16 )
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT NORMAL SPEED WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION. AFTER THE EXPLOSION WE REALIZED THE REAR WINDOW HAD BLOWN OUT. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THE REPLACEMENT WAS COMPLETED AND COVERED BY THE DEALER WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
TREAD SEPERATION FOUND PRIOR TO BLOW OUT( DOT NUMBER: VDHL1PY488 TIRE SIZE: 235R15 )
VEHICILE STARTED ON WITH IGNITION SWITCH. HIS GRANDSON WAS INSIDE OF VEHICLE, AND REAR BACK WINDOW CAME UP, AND GRANDSON STUCK HIS HEAD OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW AND THE WINDOW CAME UP. OWNER CAME OUT JUST IN TIME TO RELEASE THE WINDOW.*AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE ELECTRIC START SYSTEM. THE MAIN PROBLEM WAS THE AUTOMATIC START SYSTEM WHICH STARTS SPONTANEOUSLY WITHOUT USING THE KEY PAD. THE VEHICLE STARTED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT NOTICE. *YH

AFTER HEARING AVBOUT RECALL ON THE TIRES, HAD INSPECT TIRES, AND FOUND OUT THAT TIRES HAD A SLACH ON IT THEM. RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, WICH DID NOT INCLUDE THE DOT OF THESE TIRES, W2 P235/75 R15 FIRESTONE, WILDERNESS.*AK
DEFECTIVE STRIKER PLATE WHICH WAS USED TO HOLD THE DOOR IN EVENT OF A CRASH, SPUN AROUND, CAUSING DOOR NOT TO CLOSE PROPERLY. IN EVENT OF A CRASH DOOR MAY FLY OPEN. MANUFACTURER SAID THAT STRIKER PLATE WAS SUPPOSE TO STAY IN PLACE WHEN THE DOOR WAS SHUT. *AK
WHEN REPLACING THESE ORIGINAL TIRES DUE TO MUCH ROUGHER THAN NORMAL RIDE SEARS TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM DUE TO TIRE UNRAVELING FROM THE INSIDE. NOTE: ON THE OUTSIDE THESE TIRES APPEARED TO THE NAKED EYE TO LOOK PERFECTLY NORMAL AND INTACT FROM THE OUTSIDE.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P25570R16 )
HEARD TIRE RECALL AUG. 9. HAD CHECKED AT FIRESTONE STORE AUG.11 AND TOLD I HAD "THE" TIRES. THEY HAD NONE TO REPLACE. WAS 176 ON A LIST OF "NO" TIRES. FILLED TIRES TO RECOMMENDED 30. DROVE SLOWLY, ONE OLD PERSON AND PURSE (SOMETIMES GROCERIES)IN CAR. WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY IN CIRCUMSTANCES. TIRE BLEW AND DID NOT HAVE TO STOP QUICKLY AND WAS ON OUTSIDE LANE OF FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC WHICH HAD THINED OUT. ROLLED INTO SERVICE LANE AND STOPPED GRADUALLY. FORD'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE CAME AND CHANGED THE TIRE. FORD REPLACED ALL 5 WITH GOODYEARS NEXT DAY. COST ONLY A DAYS WORK AS FORD NOT GO FOR RENT CAR.COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN WORSE..A GRANDMOTHER WITH 6 LITTLE GRANDCHILDREN AND NEW "SAFE" CAR FOR THEM.I REALLY RESENT THAT THEY SOLD ME A "SAFE" CAR AND KNEW ABOUT THE TIRES. FORD SAID THAT "TIRES" WERE NOT PART OF MY WARRANTY BUT THEY WOULD REPLACE ANYWAY. GOOD OF THEM. GOING UP A GRADE WITH MOTORHOME TOWING THE 99 EXPLORER & NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE BACK END. COULDNT PULL OVER TILL DOWN THE GRADE & THEN THE MOTORHOME STARTED SWERVING BACK & FORTH & THE EXPLORER WAS ALSO SWERVING BADLY. BY THE TIME HE GOT DOWN THE GRADE HE SWERVED & WENT UP AN EMBANKMET & BACK DOWN & OFF THE ROAD THE FORD'S TIRE BLEW OFF RIM COMPLETELY CAUSING DAMAGE TO SEAL BETWEEN TIRE & BODY, REAR VIEW MIRROR, LEFT REAR DOOR ON MOTOHOME & MORE REC'D CALL FROM INSD-HE STATES HE WILL GOING HOME TO YERINGTON NEXT WEEK AND WILL GET IN TOUCH W/HIS AGENT RE: DAMAGE TO HIS VEH AND SUB. INSD STATES THAT FIRESTONE IN NEWPORT (?) REPLACED ALL 5 TIRES, UPGRADES THEM, BUT INSD WAS CHARGED FOR SOME THE REPLACEMENT FOR THE TIRE THAT BLEW WAS PAID FOR IN FULL BY FIRESTONE-INSD WOULD LIKE TO GO THRU HIS OWN POLICY AND SUB FIRESTONE. VEHICLE WON"T START DUE TO FAILURE WITH IGNITION SYSTEM AND ANTI THEFT SYSTEM
THIS ERROR CODE SHOWED UP AT 3500 MILES,THE DEALER HAS CHANGED THE WHOLE AIR BAG SYSTEM AND THE SAME CODE COMES UP HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES SAME CODE. PLEASE CONTACT ME AND I WILL EXPLAIN FURTHER. I INSPECTED THE TIRES AFTER RECENT RECALL AND NOTICED A SYMMETRICAL PATTERN OF CRACKS ON ALL FOUR TIRES WHERE THE TREAD MEETS THE SIDEWALL. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND FIRESTONE MULTIPLE TIMES AND NEITHER ARE INTERESTED IN NON RECALLED TIRES. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIRES AFTER 23 000 MILES (THEY HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD DEPTH), AS AN INSPECTION BY A FIRESTONE DEALER DECLARED THEY ARE DAMAGED AND ARE UNSAFE. I HAD A FLAT TIRE DRIVING AT 45 MPH - AIRED TIRE UP TO FIND HOLE AND THE TIRE WAS SPLIT IN THE MIDDLE AND BUBBLED AROUND THE EDGE OF ABOUT 1/2 OF THE TIRE. I THINK FIRESTONE SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I'M NERVOUS TO DRIVE THE CAR NOW. I DON'T WANT MY FAMILY HARMED IN ANY WAY. I HAD NOTICED VIBRATION AT HIGHYWAY SPEEDS ABOVE 55 MPH, KEPT MY SPEED BELOW 70 MPH, AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE FIRESTONE DEALER ON S. HOLLY IN LITTLETON. I BOUGHT THE FORD'S EXTENDED CARE PLAN, AND FORD ROTATES THE TIRES EVERY 6,000 MILES DOES NOT CHECK THE TIRES' BALANCE. FIRESTONE DEALER FOUND (1) TIRE COULD NOT BE BALANCED WITHIN MANUFACTURES' SPECIFICATIONS AND OBSERVED VISIBLE 8TH-INCH WOOBLE ON BLACK INTERIOR SIDEWALL ON THE MACHINE. DEALER REPLACED TIRE WITH IDENTICAL BRAND WITH A $13 CHARGE FOR RECYCLING-DISPOSAL. ON 8/10/00, I WENT BACK TO HAVE THE SPARE TIRE REPLACE THE RIGHT-REAR USED TIRE ON THE AXLE OPPOSITE THE NEW TIRE ($29). I BARELY ESCAPED CRASHING MY CAR AS I LOST CONTROL DUE TO THE TIRE GOING FLAT AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I WENT TO NEAREST TIRE DEALER AND REPLACED ALL TIRES AT A COST OF $400. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL FIRESTONE. I DID AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL BACK LATER. I SAW THE RECALL ON EARLIER VEHICLES, BUT THE FORD DLR ON THIS REQUEST REPLACED THE FRONT END SUSPENSION ON MY TRUCK AFTER CLAIMING THEY HAD SEEN A LOT OF PROBLEMS LIKE THIS AND FORD CALLED IT AN "ENGINEERING FLAW". I AM HOPING THE NHTSA WILL REVIEW THIS PROBLEM AND EXPAND IT'S RECALL.
