RIGHT FRONT AXLE/CONTROL ARM FAILING (SNAPPED CLEANLY IN 2) 3 TIMES WITHIN 2 YEARS. FIRST TIME MAY HAVE BEEN SUBSEQUENT TO LOW SPEED FRONT END COLLISION. SECOND & THIRD TIMES DRIVING LESS THAN 25 MPH WITH NO COLLISION UNTIL AFTER HEARING THE SNAP & SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF STEERING. SECOND TIME FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A FULL STOP & TURNING LEFT ON A CITY STREET.THIRD TIME I'D BEEN DRIVING STRAIGHT APPROXIMATELY HALF A MILE ON A CITY STREET WITH SPEED NO GREATER THAN 25 MPH. LAST TWO REPLACEMENT/REPAIR DONE BY PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE CERTIFIED REPAIR FACILITY.
I NOTICED THAT MY WHEEL WELL WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED, HAD WATER IN IT ABOUT 2 INCHES DEEP. I REMOVED THE 3-4 DRAIN PLUGS AND ALLOWED WATER TO DRAIN OUT AND TIME TO DRY. I THINK IT HAS BEEN LEAKING A WHILE BECAUSE THE TIRE JACK AND WHEEL WELL HAD OBVIOUS RUST. THEN I NOTICED A SMELL OF MILDEW IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND SEVERAL ITEMS IN THE REAR CARGO AREA WERE DAMP. SINCE THEN, IT IS APPARENT THERE IS A WATER LEAK IN THE REAR. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS.
"SERVICE POWER STEERING" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, CODE WAS FOR LEFT STEERING CONTROL MODULE. ONE WEEK LATER, POWER STEERING WAS INTERMITTENT, THEN WENT OUT COMPLETELY. TOOK IN TO FORD DEALERSHIP, CODE FOR SAFETY RECALL 15N01 CAME UP, FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS MY VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER RECALL BUT FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSES TO FIX, STATING "NO HOUSEHOLD LOYALTY", BECAUSE I'VE NOT PURCHASED A FORD BRAND NEW. WHEN CALLING FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE, THEY SAY THEY "WILL STAND BEHIND THE FORD DEALERAHIP IN THEIR DECISION"; YET NOW THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS READY TO FIX AND WAITING FOR THE AUTHORIZATION CODE FROM FMC, FMC WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THE DEALERSHIPS DECISION.

CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE STALLED AND COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL AND SWERVED WILDLY, BUT MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GENE LANGLEY FORD (3500 EASTEND DR, HUMBOLDT, TN 38343, (731) 784-9311) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW MOTOR NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,575. *BF*JB

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO WEST HERR FORD (10 CAMPBELL BLVD, GETZVILLE, NY 14068, (716) 688-5464). THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE RESULTS WERE NOT DISCLOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
CAR TURNED OFF AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. PANEL READ " NO POWER TO ENGINE" OR SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT. WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE A PHOTO OF PANEL DUE TO I WAS CAUGHT IN TRAFFIC WITH CARS BEHIND ME.
WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH THE CAR LOST POWER STEARING. THIS MADE THE CAR VERY HARD TO DRIVE AT LOW SPEADS. WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO KARL FLAMMER FORD IN TARPON SPRINGS FL. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME TO RESTART THE CAR AND SOMETIMES THE STEERING WILL BE RESET. THAT WORKED BUT NO INDICATION WAS GIVEN TO ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND I AM SURE THEY WILL PROPERLY ADDRESS THE SITUATION WHEN SOMEONE DIES.
SINCE SATURDAY, MARCH 16, 2019 THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" MESSAGE COMES ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN EVERY TIME I START THE CAR (2011 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED) AND I AM UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR. THE CAR IS PARKED IN A GARAGE. PREVIOUSLY, WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THE FAULT WOULD CLEAR, HOWEVER NOW THE FAULT STAYS ON AFTER EVERY RESTART AND THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT MOVE.
I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TURNED OFF THE CAR, PUMPED GAS, THEN STARTED THE CAR TO LEAVE AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING.
EVERY TIME I GO IN THE HIGHWAY AND I GO 60 MILES PER HOUR I START SMELLING THE EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE MY CAR START FEELING KIND OF DIZZY WITH HEADACHES TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER CHECK THAT AND IT'S DOING IT AGAIN EXHAUST SMELL COMES INSIDE OF CAR REALLY BAD

SECOND (2ND) OCCURRENCE. VEHICLE AS BACKED INTO DRIVEWAY AND PARKED WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 20,2019. THURSDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 7:00 AM, IT WAS OBSERVED THE THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED BACKWARDS APPROX. 13 FEET ON ITS OWN. VEHICLE WAS LOCKED AND TRANSMISSION WAS IN PARK. APPROXIMATELY 7:15 AM IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE ROLLED APPROXIMATELY 16 INCHES MORE WITH THE BACK BUMPER RESTING AGAINST THE WALL. THIS EVEN IS DOCUMENTED WITH PICTURES. FIRST (1ST) OCCURRENCE VEHICLE WAS PARKED NOSE FIRST IN DRIVEWAY ON FEBRUARY 11, 2019. FEBRUARY 12, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 8:00 AM, MY WIFE HAD ASKED IF WE HAD MOVED THE VEHICLE FORWARD BECAUSE THE FRONT OF VEHICLE WAS ALMOST TOUCHING THE WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED AND IN PARK. THE WEATHER ON BOTH OCCURRENCES WAS SNOW THEN RAIN. UNABLE TO ATTACH PHOTOS DUE TO FILE SIZE.
THIS VEHICLE WAS IN FOR A RECALL FOR THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING. RECALL WAS DONE ON THE VEHICLE IN 2014 NOW IN 2019 AT 150,000 MILES AND AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM ONLY THIS TIME IT COST ME $1,800 TO GET FIX JUST TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM RECUR 3 TIMES. I ALSO GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS MORE THAN A SAFETY ISSUE AND I NOTICE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING. WHEN WILL FORD DECIDED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE!
DRIVING 70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY THE SERVICE POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY LIGHT CAME ON AND SERVICE TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM LIGHT AS WELL. I HAD NO POWER STEERING.
MY WIFE STARTED GETTING THE CODE ON HER DISPLAY THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS AT FAULT! THEN IT WOULD RESET AND WORK, THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES! WE WERE OUT TO EAT AND GO IN THE VEHICLE AND STARTED HOME. WHEN THIS HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY! I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED FROM THERE!
I WAS LEAVING TO WORK AND THE STEERING WAS HARD .THE CAR WAS STATIONARY , IT MARKED POWER STEERING ASSAULT.IM PREGNANT AND I'M AFRAID TO CRASH WHILE DRIVING.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while observing the vehicle, the A-pillar trim on the driver's and passenger's sides was detaching. The contact stated that there was water leaking inside the vehicle on both the driver's and passenger's side. The contact stated that mold and mildew was growing inside the vehicle and there was a mildew odor. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V031000 (Structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
THE POWER STEERING FAILED CAUSING THE STEERING TO BECOME DIFFICULT ALMOST RESULTING IN A CAR CRASH
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 80 NEAR DONNER PASS IN CALIFORNIA THE "TRACTION CONTROL UNAVAILABLE" LIGHT CAME ON WITH "CHECK POWER STEERING" LIGHT. STEERING WHEEL RESISTANCE INCREASED AS IF POWER STEERING WAS BEGINNING TO FAIL. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER WHILE DRIVING IN A SNOWSTORM THE RED "SERVICE POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY" LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING TOTALLY FAILED MAKING CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. THE FACT THAT THIS FAILURE COULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME AND IN MY CASE DURING WHITE OUT WINTER CONDITIONS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND I FELT LUCKY TO NOT TO HAVE GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT. I HAVE READ SO MANY REPORTS OF THIS SAME POWER STEERING FAILURE AND AM SURPRISED THAT NO RECALL ACTION ON THIS VIN HAS BEEN INITIATED. CONTACTED FORD DEALERSHIPS WHO SAY THAT SINCE NO "ERROR" CODE IS PRESENT THEY WILL NOT CORRECT OR REPAIR THE ISSUE. HOPEFULLY THE NHSTA WILL FINALLY INITIATE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE DIES FROM THIS PROBLEM.
WHEN IT RAINS, THE RAIN COMES IN THE TRUCK AND SEEPS THROUGH THE SEATBELTS, THE FRONT PASSENGER INTERIOR HANDLE, THE TWO LIGHTS IN THE TOP OF THE TRUCK (ABOVE THE CONSOLE), THE STERIO IN THE BACK, THE PASSENGER SIDE UNDER THE DASHBOARD, THROUGH THE TRIM OF THE WINDOWS ON DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, AND INSIDE THE SUNROOF (YES, THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF IS CLOSED). THIS HAPPENS IF THE TRUCK IS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY, AND WHEN DRIVING. MY GUESS IS THAT SOMETHING WAS NOT PROPERLY SEALED WHEN THE TRUCK WAS BEING MADE.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY THE STEERING SYSTEM SUDDENLY LOCKED, MAKING VERY DIFFICULT TO CHANGE DIRECTION. THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY AND WE WERE CLOSE TO AN ACCIDENT.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. HAS HAPPENED WHEN STATIONARY AS WELL AS WHEN MOVING. STEERING IS LOCKED AND STEERING WHEEL CANNOT BE TURNED WITHOUT CONSIDERABLE FORCE.
I HAVE LEAKS THROUGH THE SEAT BELTS ON MY THIRD ROW. MY CAR HAS A MILDEW ODOR FROM THESE SO IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A WHILE. I HAD CARMAX FIX A LEAK THAT I NOTICED IN 2016 BUT NOW 2 YEATS LATER IT IS REALLY BAD. I LOOKED UP ONLINE POSSINLE FIXES AND FOU D HUNDREDS OF OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND NO FIX. FORD IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH FOR THE REPAIR. PLEAS LOOK INTO THIS FAULTY ISSUE AND REQUIRE A WELDING FIX ON THE SEEMS BY FORD. SEEMS ALL INFORMATION I HAVE FOUND WITH THE ISSUE IS WITH THE NEW EXPLORER BODY STARTING WITH MY 2011 YEAR. LEAK OCCURS QHEN IT RAINED OR WHEN CAR IS WASHED. IT IS SO MUCH WATER THAT WE CURRENTLY CAN NOT USE THE THIRD ROW SEATONG AS A SEAT. IT IS CONSTANTLY WET.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MOSES FORD INC (2001 MACCORKLE AVE, ST ALBANS, WV 25177) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,960.
TACKATA RECALL VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET. UNKNOWN REASON FOR LOSS OF STEERING. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND FORD SAYS THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING FOR THIS VEHICLE. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND FOR THE SAME YEAR MODEL.
TAKATA REPORT. THIS IS TO REPORT THAT MY VEHICLE IS GOING THROUGH A SIMILAR AS OTHER VEHICLES. THE STEERING LOCKS IN PLACE AND I AM UNABLE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND I AM NOT THE ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. AN ACCIDENT COULD OF EASILY HAPPEN BECAUSE OF IT.
WE WERE TRAVELING I-26 FROM SC BACK INTO NC AFTER THANKSGIVING. MY CAR DINGED AND SAID COOLANT TEMP WAS TOO HIGH. THANKFULLY I WAS RIGHT AT A REST AREA AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED IN AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. TRIED ADDING COOLANT AND IT POURED OUT THE BOTTOM. HAD MY EXPLORER TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. TURNS OUT THE WATER PUMP BLEW. IN MOST CASES A WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT IS NOT A BIG DEAL. EXCEPT WHOEVER DESIGNED THIS ENGINE WAS NOT THINKING BECAUSE THE WATER PUMP IS INSIDE THE ENGINE. SO EVEN TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP (A PART COSTING LESS THEN $200), THE LABOR MAKES IT AT CLOSER TO $1500. BUT, ALSO, BECAUSE THE WATER PUMP IS INSIDE THE ENGINE, WHEN IT BLEW, COOLANT AND WATER WENT INTO MY ENGINE CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE, MEANING THE WHOLE ENGINE NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SO A CAR WITH 71,000 MILES ON IT NEEDS A WHOLE NEW ENGINE BECAUSE OF A WATER PUMP. I AM THANKFUL I WAS IN A POSITION TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY, BECAUSE IF THE ENGINE HAD GONE OUT ON THE BUSY INTERSTATE, THAT COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE CRASH. IF A WATER PUMP CAN CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE, THAT IS NOT A CAR I WANT TO BE IN WITH MY CHILDREN. DANGEROUS NOT ONLY TO US, BUT TO OTHERS TRAVELING NEAR US. FORD NEEDS TO RETHINK THIS DESIGN. NOT ONLY IS IT COSTLY TO REPAIR, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS.

THE CONTACT CALLED FIVE STAR FORD STONE MOUNTAIN (3800 US-78, SNELLVILLE, GA 30039, (470) 552-0862) AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,989.

THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL PERTAINING TO THE E-PASS GEAR AND THE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING ON JOHNSON CITY FORD (207 PRINCETON RD, JOHNSON CITY, TN 37601, (423) 282-3000) TO RECEIVE THE PART FROM THE MANUFACTURER AS THE RECALL CAMPAIGN HAD BEEN APPLIED TO THE VEHICLE SINCE MAY 29, 2014. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INFORMED WHY THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT PERFORMED BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS PROVIDED AS A TRADE IN FROM HONDA KINGSPORT (2217 E STONE DR, KINGSPORT, TN 37660, (423) 358-2519). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 192,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

MY 2011 FORD EXPLORER WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE WATER PUMP IMMEDIATELY FAILED. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR WARNING SIGNS. MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE SHOT UP AND MY ENGINE SEIZED. THE ENGINE IS UNABLE TO BE TURNED ON AT THIS TIME.
CAR ONLY HAS 64K BUT HAS STARTED LEAKING FUEL, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL. FUEL LEAK APPEARS TO BE NEAR RIGHT REAR WHEEL AND DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO EXHAUST PIPE. REPAIR SHOP ESTIMATES $1000 TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP.
I WAS TURNING OUT OF MY ALLEY AND THE CAR HAD NO POWER. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE NOTHING HAPPENED. I HAD AN ORANGE WARNING LIGHT WITH A WRENCH COME ON THE DASHBOARD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT AND NO ISSUE WITH THE ACCELERATION. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM BUT THIS ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR IT BUT NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER OR YEAR.
WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND AS SOON AS WE PULL IN THE PARKING LOT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WON'T MOVE. IT WAS TOWED TO FORD MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THE WATER PUMP WAS FAULT WHICH MADE THE COOLANT TO ENTER THE ENGINE HENCE MESSING UP THE ENGINE AND I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. IT COST ME ARMS AND LEGS TO FIX THE ENGINE. FORD NEED TO RECALL WATER PUMP FAILURE WHICH IS LEADING TO COSTLY FIXING OF THE ENGINE. THE ROOF WAS ALSO LEAKING AND THE WATER WAS DRIPPING THROUGH BACK SEAT BELT. TODAY I WAS PULLING OFF THE PARKING THE POWER STEERING FAULT LIGHT CAME ON , AND IT WAS HARD TO TURN THE STEERING . THIS CAR HAS A LOT IF PRBLEMS .
MY 2011 FORD EXPLORER ONLY HAS 104K MILES. IN OCTOBER OF 2018 THE CAR REPEATEDLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WITH NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN, WHEN I GOT IT TO FINALLY TURN BACK ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED AND WAS TOLD THE ANTIFREEZE HAS SPILLED INTO THE ENGINE AND WE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE! I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS INCLUDING THE STEERING LOCK RECALL AS WELL AS NEEDING THE RADIATOR REPLACEMENT IN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS OF MY PURCHASE. ALSO, NO INDICATION PRIOR TO THOSE INCIDENTS EITHER! I CURRENTLY HAVE THIS CAR SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NO ANSWERS FROM FORD. THE COST TO FIX IS OVER 6K! I NOTICED A RECALL BEING ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER MY MODEL CAR IS NOT INCLUDED! THIS SHOULD INCLUDE ALL FORD VEHICLES.

NOTICED SERIOUS WATER LEAK IN REAR TIRE STORAGE COMPARTMENT. ANALYSIS INDICATED WATER PENETRATING FROM CRACKS IN THE MACHINE WELDS AT THE CORNERS OF WHERE THE ROOF LINE MEETS THE BACK TAIL GATE AS WELL AS THE STAMPED MACHINE WELDS AT THE TWO LIFT GATE HINGES. CREATED MOLD PROBLEM WHEN TIRE COVER AND SPONGE PAD BECAME SOAKED. CONCERNED RUST AT THE CORNERS, HINGES AND TIRE COMPARTMENT WILL EVENTUALLY GIVE WAY.

BUT OF COURSE BY THIS TIME ALL PAPERWORK HAD WENT THROUGH TO THE BANK......DROVE THE TRUCK FINE FOR ABOUT 8MONTHS, THEN BROKE DOWN THE SAME WAY AS THE VERY FIRST TIME BUT ON A BRIDGE THIS TIME...... THIS TIME AROUND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ENGINE, GOT A SECOND OPINION, SAID PERSON SAID WATER PUMP. I FIXED THE WATER PUMP. NOW GUESS WHAT??? ITS ACTUALLY THE ENGINE.... I AM BLOWN AWAY BY HOW MANY PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS FORD EXPLORER..... I THOUGHT I WAS MAKING A GREAT PURCHASE GOING WITH A FORD. THIS TRUCK SAT IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR A YEAR WHILE IN NURSING SCHOOL..... I AM LOST AND AT MY WITS END..... WHEN I LOOK FOR RECALLS ALL I AM SEEING IS SUSPENSION ISSUES OR TOWING.... ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM INTERMITENTLY FAILS UPON START-UP OF THE VEHICLE CREATING A "POWER STEERING FAULT' WARNING MESSAGE IN THE DRIVER INTERFACE SYSTEM. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT AFTER 30 SECONDS, THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM CONTINUES TO FAIL. THE FAILURE ALSO CONTINUES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. FAILURE CAUSES A SHUTDOWN OF THE POWER STEERING ASSIST CAUSING DIFFICULTY OF CONTROL AND STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS, INCREASING THE LIKLIHOOD OF A CRASH. FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM ALSO CREATES A CASCADING FAILURE IN THE ADVANCED TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM, ALSO RESULTING IN A WARNING MESSAGE AND REDUCED SAFETY. THIS PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V286000 AND FORD RECALL NUMBER 14S06. UPON SEARCHING FOR THIS VIN HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THAT FORD HAS NOT INCLUDED THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT HAS EXHIBITED THE SAME PROBLEMS.
THE SAFETY HAZARD LIGHTS BUTTON DOES NOT WORK. UNABLE TO TURN HAZARD LIGHT ON. BUTTON IS COMPLAINED ABOUT IN MANY ONLINE FORMS FOR DYING OR JUST NOT WORKING.
THERE IS A EXTREME EXHAUST SMELL THAT COMES IN MY TRUCK WHENEVER I TURN THE HEAT ON. THE EXCESSIVE FUMES ARE CAUSING MY CHILDREN AND ME TO EXPERIENCE DIZZINESS AND HEADACHES.
