THE CONTACT CALLED DERROW SHIRKEY FORD LINCOLN (1248 E MAIN ST, MONTPELIER, OH 43543, (419) 485-3181) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. 2013 FORD EXPLORER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 20S62/NHTSA RECALL 20V-675, AND IS MAILING IN THE ORGINIAL COPY. *AS *JS
MY VEHICLES POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING ABRUPTLY. THE SCREEN READS POWER ASSIST FAULT. I CAN'T TURN THE WHEEL WHATSOEVER. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST OVER 2K TO REPAIR. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH IT IS NOTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THE EXPLORERS.
VEHICLE STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE IN MOTION NEARLY CAUSING A HEAD ON COLLISION. VEHICLE IS 2 MONTHS OUTSIDE BUILD DATE OF PREVIOUS RECALL FOR STEERING FAILURES. VEHICLE STEERING ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEELS IN ANY DIRECTION
WHEN STARTING CAR THE STEERING WILL LOCK UP MAKING IT HARD TO TURN STEERING WHEEL: THE FEAR THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, USUALLY I CAN TURN OFF ENGINE AND RESTART CAR. TODAY HAPPENED TWICE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 4O MPH THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND THEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE LANE CLOSEST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN WAS ABLE TO PROCEED BACK TO HIS HOME. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER KOONS FORD OF ANNAPOLIS 2540 RIVA ROAD, ANNAPOLIS, MD 21401 (410) 224-2100 AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT IN BUT COULD NOT GET A CODE OR DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE OCCURRED TWICE AND THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER UNREPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT YET BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and moving to the passenger seat, he smelled a strong gasoline odor. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact looked under the gasoline tank and saw gas leaking onto the floor. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V227000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) because the VIN was not included. The contact contacted a second dealer - Don's Ford (5712 Horatio St, Utica, NY 13502) who confirmed that the information of the previous dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
THE CEILING AROUND THE SUNROOF ON MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER STARTED DRIPPING WATER DURING A RAIN. THE NEXT MORNING I HAD OVER AN INCH OF STANDING WATER IN MY CAR. IT HAD DRIPPED ALL OVER THE FRONT CENTER OF THE SUV. NOW MY FLOORBOARDS ARE GOING TO BE MOLDY AND MUSTY DUE TO FORD'S POOR SUNROOF DESIGN. ALLOWING ONLY A FEW SMALL HOLES FOR WATER TO DRAIN OUT OF THE SUN ROOF AREA IS IGNORANT. AFTER THESE HOLES GETS CLOGGED THE ENTIRE THING IT GETS FILLED WITH WATER AND SHORTS OUT THE MOTORS.
UPON STARTING MY CAR AN ALARM CAME ON AND SAID MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAS FAILED AND I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. SO I SHUT THE CAR OFF THEN RESTARTED IT AND THE ALARM WENT AWAY. TWO DAYS LATER THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE I DID THE SAME THING , SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DUNCAN SUZUKI (1001 E MAIN ST, PULASKI, VA 24301) AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE VIN WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL AND WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000.
RANDOM REAR WINDOW EXPLODING. CAR HAD NO CHIPS OR DAMAGE TO REAR WINDSHIELD. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. VEHICLE WAS PARKED, NOT RUNNING, BACKED IN AWAY FROM STREET FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODING. THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD AS WELL AS THE OUTSIDE EDGES HAD HOLES BLOWN OUT. WEATHER WAS AND HAD BEEN BETWEEN 58' AND 70' FOR THE PAST WEEK.
IN 2018 I REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR AND 5 DAYS I HAD TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. MY CAR LOST THE STEERING COMPLETELY. BOTH TIMES WE USED ORIGINAL PART FROM THE DEALER. THE REPAIR IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I NEED A SOLUTION. MY CAR IS NOT DRIVEABLE. THE PSCM HAS A CODE U3000-61 AND P07AE-09
GOING AROUND A CURVE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED I WAS TURNING MY WHEEL L BUT MY CAR WAS NOT TURNING. I TURNED MY WHEEL CLOCKWISE AND THE MY STEERING WHEEL WAS ALMOST UPSIDE DOWN BY THE TIME MY WHEELS TURNED
WHILE STATIONARY OR AT SLOW SPEEDS, WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL NEAR THE MAX, THE RIGHT FRONT STRUT MOUNT GIVES A CLANGING SOUND. THIS IS DUE TO A LOOSE STRUT MOUNT THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS. THIS OCCURS ON CITY ROADS WHERE SPEEDS ARE LOW ENOUGH TO ALONG NEAR MAXIMUM TURNING RADIUS.
LEAKS FROM POOR QUALITY WELDS ABOVE REAR TAILGATE. CREATES MOLD IN CARPET ABS SPARE TIRE INSULATION. KNOWN PROBLEM ON VEHICLE. ADDITION LEAKS IN SUNROOF DUE TO POOR DRAINAGE CAUSING MOTOR TO FAIL. PAINT BUBBLE FAIL ON HOOD (KNOWN ISSUE ON EXPLORERS AND EXPEDITIONS)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMALLY LOUD SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING A BALL JOINT FAILURE AND RECALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LANGDALE FORD (215 W MAGNOLIA ST, VALDOSTA, GA 31601, (229) 394-4334) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION BALL JOINT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A SECOND LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHICH STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION BALL JOINT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V675000 (SUSPENSION) BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER HOWEVER, THE RECALL REPAIR FAILED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
HAVE LEAK AT 3RD ROW SEAT BELT AT ROOF ON LEFT HAND SIDE.SEAT BELT GETTING WET LEAKING DOWN ON SEAT AND FLOOR. FIRST NOTICED WHEN TILTING 3RD ROW SEAT ON SEPT. 29/2020. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NOT MOVING . HAD RAIN THE NIGHT OFSEPT. 28/2020.
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE A WARNING BOX APPEARS INDICATING " POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". ONCE THIS MESSAGE APPEARS THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER STEERING COMPLETELY AND YOU HAVE TO STEER THE CAR MANUALLY. THIS WARNING MESSAGE HAS APPEARED MULTIPLE TIMES. AS OF 9/22/20 I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN WHICH THEY INDICATED THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY STEERING GEAR BOX WHICH WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. FORD ALREADY HAS A RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON EARLIER MODELS. THAT RECALL NUMBER IS THE FOLLOWING 14S06.
CAR JUST STARTED SHAKING AND LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
I WAS LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY EXPLORER. THERE WAS A POWER STEERING DEFAULT AND THE SERVICE TRAC ADJUSTMENT WARNING CAME ON AS WELL. I HAD TO MANUALLY STEER THE CAR HOME DRIVING LESS THAN 25 MPH AND IT HAPPENED OUT OF NOWHERE. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2011-2013 EXPLORERS BUT APPARENTLY MINE ISN'T COVERED AND THAT IS A MAJOR ISSUE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE WITH THE MODEL, NOT JUST ONES MANUFACTURED AT THE CHICAGO FACILITY.
I LOST COMMUNICATION WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROLS IT SAYS, CAUSING MY HEAT TO COME ON FULL BLAST AND I CAN NOT TURN IT OFF. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND THIS IS VERY UNSAFE.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT QUIT RUNNING WITHOUT ANY WARNING . SHE WAS ON CITY STREET. SHE PULL OVER AND LEFT IT SIT. WE WHEN BACK AND RE-STARTED IT WITH NO PROBLEM AND DROVE IT HOME. IT HAS DONE THIS A SECOND TIME A COUPLE DAYS LATER,SHE SAID IT CHUGGED AND QUIT. IT SET FOR ABOUT 15 MINS. BEFORE I RE-STARTED IT WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE WRENCH LIGTH COMES ON BUT NO CODES ARE SHOWING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT PER ONE HOUR OF DRIVING THE DETECTOR SHOWED14 PPM (PARTS PER MINUTE). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONSTANT ON A DAILY BASIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR WAS CALIBRATED ON A DAILY BASIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS WIFE COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT HEADACHES WHILE DRIVING IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE SUSTAINED SEVERE HEALTH ISSUES AND HAD HEART ABLATION SURGERY FROM THE CARBON MONOXIDE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT CONTINUAL DRIVING PRESENTED A GRAVE DANGER TO HEALTH AND SAFETY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHENOWETH FORD INC (1564 E PIKE ST, CLARKSBURG, WV 26301, (800) 344-1108) AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WITH THE VEHICLE BECOMING DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ENERGY COUNTRY FORD (4545 N. TWIN CITY HWY, PORT ARTHUR, TX 77642) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND MADE A TURN AND HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY STEERING . IT ALMOST CALLS ME TO RUN UP ONTO A CURVE. MY STEERING WOULD MAKE A LOUD NOISE WHEN I TURNED IT IN.. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE THE CAR HOME AND TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP THE NEXT DAY OR SO. IT IS SEPTEMBER THE 8TH 2020 I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY HAD TO REPAIR THE STEERING SYSTEM.
EXPLORER VEERED OFF THE EDGE OF THE ROAD WHILE IN MOTION ON US ROUTE 322 AND COULD NOT BE STEERED BACK ONTO THE ROAD. IT WAS REPAIRED AT CORNELL AUTO BODY. CHIP CORNELL NOTICED A SUSPICIOUS BREAK AND A CRACK IN THE LOWER CONTROL ARM AS DID MY BROTHER, TOM GREEN, WHO IS A RETIRED WELDER AT JOY MANUFACTURING WITH (42) YRS. EXERIENCE. TOM TOOK THE LOWER CONTROL ARM TO GRIFFIN-PHILLIS FORD, 2582 PA-257 SENECA, PA 16346 FOR THEM TO SHOW IT TO A FORD REPRESENTATIVE.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THEN LOCKED DOWN COMPLETELY. ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK.
THE DRIVER CAR DOOR LATCH BROKE OFF AND DRIVER DOOR DOESN'T CLOSE PROPERLY. THE DOOR FLYS OPEN WHILE IN MOTION ESPECIALLY ON TURNS AND I HAVE TO HOLD IT CLOSED WITH ONE HAND WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE WITH MY ONLY OTHER HAND. CANNOT GET IN OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE! I HAVE TO CLIMB IN THROUGH THE PASSENGER OR BACK SEAT TO PUSH THE DOOR FULLY OPEN SO I CAN GET IN TO DRIVE. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE DOOR CAN OPEN WHILE IN MOTION. FORD SAID THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED 7/2020 AND REFUSES TO FIX MY CAR DOOR HANDLE, VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION I WANT TO SELL THIS VEHICLE AND THE NEW OWNER WILL THEN BE IN DANGER HOWEVER FORD REFUSES TO COVER THIS DEFECT WITH THEIR DOOR HANDLES THAT ALREADY HAD A RECALL ON IT. PLEASE HELP ME MAKE OTHERS AWARE OF THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION AND ANY NEW CAR OWNERS WHO WILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR FORD EXPLORER AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT AND COVER THE EXPENSE TO FIX WHEN IT WAS PART OF A RECALL THAT 'EXPIRED'. I'M SCARED I MAY FLY OUT OF THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING AND GET HURT OR RUN OVER BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS DOOR WON'T CLOSE SECURELY.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that upon starting her vehicle, the steering wheel would lock up with the power steering warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact called the independent mechanic and was informed of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V286000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed her that the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was provided the same information as the dealer. The manufacturer filed a case. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Consumer stated it happened several times.
The rear camera intermittently goes black and there is nothing on the screen except an error warning. We have experienced this problem for a couple years however it is becoming more frequent.
DRIVING THE CAR AND WARNINGS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD SHOWING POWER STEERING AND STABILITY CONTROL FAILED. I COULD BARELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THANK GOD I WAS ON A SIDE STREET NEAR HOME. IF THIS HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY OR EXPRESSWAY I WOULD LIKELY HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DUE TO FAILURE OF THE STEERING RACK.
WHILE DRIVING NOTICED WHEN MAKING A TURN AT LOW SPEED STICKY STEERING WHEEL AND POPPING NOISE. FEW DAYS LATER WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. BECAME WORSE DAY BY DAY, LOUDER GRINDING NOISE TURNING THE TRUCK LEFT OR RIGHT DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN THE VEHICLE SIT FOR FEW DAYS WITHOUT MOVEMENT AND TURN ON TO GO DRIVE IT THE STEERING WHEEL IS STUCK HARD TO MOVE AT FIRST THEN WHEN GIVE IT A BIT OF HARD TWIST IT BREAKS LOOSE FOR DRIVING BUT LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. IT FEELS AND SOUND AS IF THE RACK IS BAD OR SOMETHING.

THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER ANDERSON FORD LOCATED AT 3900 CLEMSON BLVD, ANDERSON, SC 29621, (864) 225-4151, AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.
THE POWER STEERING ON MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER WILL INTERMITTENTLY STOP WORKING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. MY WIFE ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS BECAUSE IT MAKES THE VEHICLE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH EXPLORERS AND THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED (14S06) BUT ONLY FOR CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS. MY EXPLORER WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL AND I HAD TO PAY $1800 TO REPLACE THE WHOLE POWER STEERING RACK. THIS ISSUE IS THE EXACT ISSUE THE OTHER EXPLORERS WERE RECALLED FOR AND MY FORD SERVICE ADVISOR AGREED WITH ME. BUT HE SAID I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR IT BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED. THE RECALL MUST BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MORE EXPLORER VIN NUMBERS. THIS IS A HAZARD NOT ONLY TO THE DRIVERS OF EXPLORERS BUT ALSO OTHER MOTORISTS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. LEAVING MY JOB IN THE MORNING I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HARD. I TURNED OFF THE CAR WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. MY MISTAKE WAS TO MAKE A STOP. AFTER GETTING BACK IN THE CAR THE MESSAGE CAME BACK SO I THOUGHT I COULD JUST WAIT A FEW MINUTES AGAIN. THANK GOD, I WAS PARKED AT WALGREENS NEEDLESS TO SAY, POWER STEERING NEVER CAME BACK. TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANT OVER $2500 TO FIX IT. I DIDN'T GET A REPAIR INVOICE BUT I HAVE THE RECEIPT WITH THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM.
I NOTICED A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" LIGHT AS SOON AS I STARTED UP MY 2013 EXPLORER YESTERDAY. I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND COULD EASILY TELL THE POWER STEERING WASN'T WORKING AT ALL. I TURNED OFF MY EXPLORER AND STARTED IT BACK UP A FEW MINUTES LATER. THE FAULT INDICATOR LIGHT WAS NO LONGER VISIBLE AND EVERYTHING SEEMED BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE SEEN THIS FAULT ON MY EXPLORER. IT IS DEFINITELY AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, SO I RESEARCHED SIMILAR INCIDENTS AND THEY ALL TALK ABOUT A POWER STEERING RECALL FOR 2012-2013 EXPLORERS. OF COURSE, I PUT IN MY VIN AND MY EXPLORER WASN'T INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE RECENTLY HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. I HOPE FORD REALIZES THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE PEOPLE START GETTING INTO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AND THEY HAVE A MAJOR LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT ONLY A PARTIAL AMOUNT OF 2013 EXPLORERS ARE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND NOT ALL OF THEM. IF THAT'S THE CASE, I WOULD HOPE THEY HAVE OUTSTANDING QUALITY ASSURANCE EMPLOYEES, WHICH THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T IF THEY DIDN'T ISOLATE THE ISSUE.
MY POWER STEERING ASSIST WENT OUT MULTIPLE DAYS AS I WENT TO START MY VEHICLE. I TURNED IT OFF AND IT TURNED BACK ON. ON THE FOURTH DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME IT TURNED OFF ON ME AND I LOST POWER STEERING. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURNED OFF MY VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON BUT THE POWER STEERING REMAINED OFF AND MY OTHER SENSORS TURNED OFF AS WELL-STABILITY CONTROL ETC.. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY AND NEW BATTERY. IT COST ME $2770 TO FIX. THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO MY VIN FOR MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER EVEN THOUGH IT WAS FOR THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL.
I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL LID.IT NOW CHUGS AND SEEMS LIKE TRANSMISSION . WHEN IT RAINS WATER GETS IN CAR. WHICH GOES INTO OUR ELECTRICITY SYSTEM. WHILE DRIVING OUT OF STATE I HAD 2 WARNINGS THAT CAME ON MY DASH. 1- TIRE TRACTION SERVICE 2- POWER STEERING SERVICE. I TURNED AROUND MADE IT TO A RENTAL TO CONTINUE MY TRIP. WENT TO GET IT WITH MY HUSBAND & THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING, SIGNAL LIGHT WOULDN'T WORK. BROUGHT IT TO ONE FORD DEALERSHIP & THEY WANTED A LOT OF MONEY TO FIX SOMETHING. PICKED IT UP & NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT, DROVE BEAUTIFULLY. BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT & THEY COULDN'T FIND NOTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG. THEY PUT IT ON THE MACHINE I BELIEVE 3 TIMES & SAW NOTHING. I HAD TO TAKE ANOTHER TRIP OUT OF STATE & AFTER DRIVING 100 MILES I WAS FORCED TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT BECAUSE I LOST ALL POWER AGAIN. I DON'T EVEN HAVE 70,000 MILES YET ON IT. CAN YOU HELP ME OUT WITH THIS PROBLEM. THERE WERE RECALLS ON STEERING BUT MINE WAS 2 MONTHS AWAY FROM RECALL DATE. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP.

2013 FORD EXPLORER STEERING LOST POWER, THERE IS A RECALL OUT, BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THE FORD DEALER IN HUNTING BEACH, CA, THEY SAID IT DOESN'T APPLY TO MY VIN. BUT I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED ON FORDS RECALL, FORD'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 14S06. FORD OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, SAID I HAVE TO PAY $200 DIAGNOSIS FEE & ALSO ANY PARTS / LABOR IF REPAIR IS DONE. RIGHT NOW THE CAR IS WITH FORD. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING IF ITS THEIR RECALL. MY VIN MAY NOT SHOW UP WITH A RECALL , BUT I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE WAS MOVING WHEN IT HAPPENED.
07/28/2020 2013 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED AWD WITH A LITTLE OVER 58,000 MILES HAD A POWER STEERING LIGHT COME ON WHILE MY WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR GARAGE AND THE STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. IT HAD LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST AND MADE THE VEHICLE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. SHE STOPPED AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND THE POWER STEERING STARTED WORKING AGAIN. PER THE NHTSA WEBSITE, 2011-2013 FORD EXPLORERS HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. HOWEVER, UPON ENTERING MY VIN NUMBER, IT APPEARS TO BE "OUTSIDE" THE RECALL. I CHATTED WITH A FORD REPRESENTATIVE ON 7/29/2020 (JESSICA) AND SHE ALSO CONFIRMED THAT MY VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH WITHIN THE YEARS DESIGNATED BY THE RECALL, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. SUGGESTED I GO TO MY NEAREST FORD DEALER AND "WORK" WITH THEM ON THE REPAIR AND SEE IF THEY CAN HELP GETTING MY VEHICLE ADDED TO THE RECALL. I HAVE RESEARCHED NUMEROUS COMPLAINT FOR MY EXPLORER AND FOUND THAT NUMEROUS OWNERS ARE GETTING THE SAME RESPONSE AS I DID. THEIR VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE MODEL YEARS IDENTIFIED. I FEEL THAT FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THEIR IS A PROBLEM AND NEED TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL FOR THE RECALL. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT MORE VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED THAN THE ORIGINAL RECALL INCLUDED. I FEAR THAT HAD MY WIFE BEEN TRAVELING IN TOWN WHERE WE LIVE AND THIS OCCURRED, SHE WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE AND COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL AND EVEN BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE INJURED HERSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE.
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, A CHIME ALARM CAME ON AND A MESSAGE CAME UP SAYING "POWER ASSIST FAILURE ". THEN I LOST POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY. THEN ANOTHER ALATM.FLASHED AND SAID "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW". DRIVING TO THE NEXT EXIT 7 MILES AWAY WAS VERY SCARY AND DIFFICULT. THERE WAS NO WARNING SIGN AT ALL THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER XLT. AND WHEN THERE WAS A WARNING, IT WAS TOO LATE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED 2.5 HRS HOME. THE MECHANIC SHOP GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR OF $2700.00 TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING RACK. AS I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR IT NOW, I BROUGHT IT BACK HOME AND IT IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN WHEN I WAS DRIVING IT THE 1.5 MILES BACK HOME BUT WENT OUT AGAIN ONCE I PULLED ON TO MY STREET. IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT PARKING IT WITHOUT POWER STEERING. I SAW THIS WAS A RECALL FOR SOME 2013 EXPLORERS, YET MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL LIST.
I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS AND HAVE HAD MORE PROBLEMS FROM IT THEN ANYONE CAN IMAGINE FROM THE WRENCH LIGHT ( TRANSMISSION) TO THE TORQUE CONVERTER TO CAMSHAFT CODES TO CONVERTERS TO SENSORS , AC CONDENSER WENT OUT, BRAKE ISSUES AFTER REPLACING NEW PADS AND ROTORS , THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE . THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 84K MILES AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED MORE ISSUES FROM IT THEN ANY VEHICLE I HAVE EVER HAD . FORD REALLY MADE JUNK THIS TIME.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the glass moon roof panel became inoperable, and could no longer be opened. Additionally, there was rainwater leaking into the vehicle from the sunroof drainage system. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the Extend Coverage related to the failure. Water was leaking in somehow through the drivers side. I had windshield replaced as well as moonroof motor (because the moonroof stopped working after leak also) . The water does not seem to get in anymore but Now my headlights randomly work. I have had the headlights replaced but it did not fix the problem. The mechanic has seen the problem but is stumped so now its a process of elimination I guess. When the headlights go out if I completly turn them off and back on again it will ussually fix it temporarily. Ive got a police warning because I got pulled over for no headlights but as the police were writing the ticket, the headlights randomly came back .There has been a lot of sensors going on the dash and ford has had to reset them.
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS HAD A SLIGHT TICKING SOUND AT WARM OR COLD STARTUP. WAS GETTING TIRED/ACHY WHILE DRIVING MORE THAN AN HOUR. THE SOUND BECAME MUCH LOUDER OVER THE WEEKEND. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A CRACKED FRONT EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND MAY HAVE BEEN LEAKING CO INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.
ANYTIME I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE IN RAIN OR WET ROADS THE MAIN BELT SLIPS AND SQUEALS. THE RESULT IS MAJOR LOSS OF POWER ON MANY OCCASIONS. MY DASH LIGHTS UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE, I LOSE POWER TO STEERING, WIPERS, FANS, ETC. THE BELT SLIPPING IS CAUSING THE ALTERNATOR NOT TO FUNCTION WHICH IN TURNS CAUSES LOSS OF POWER. IT'S ALWAYS WHEN IT'S WET WHICH IS EVEN SCARIER BC I HAVE LOST STEERING AND ENGINE POWER. THIS HAPPENS ON ANY ROADS WHILE THE ENGINE IS UNDER A LOAD.

THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE RESIDENCE IN MANUAL STEERING MODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING) BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 145,000.
