SMELL OF SMOKE, AND TAPPING NOISE PRIOR TO FIRE. SMOKE CAME FROM NEAR THE CENTER CONSOLE BETWEEN DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT. FIRE STARTED. MADE A COMPLAINT PRIOR ABOUT SMELL OF SMOKE AND NOISE.
I WAS HEARING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING. IT GOT TOO LOUD AND TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RACK AND PINION HAS TO BE REPLACED. IT GOT SO BAD THAT I COULD POTENTIALLY LOSE STEERING CONTROL WHEN DRIVING. I'M CONCERNED THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE AND THIS FAILURE SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN THIS LOW MILEAGE. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 77K MILES ON MY EXPLORER AND I'VE BEEN DRIVING IT GENTLY.
WHEN TURNING THE TRUCK MAKES A ROARING NOISE AND DOES NOT RETURN STEERING BACK TO STRAIGHT DIRECTION. HARD TO TURN WHEEL MANUALLY. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSTIC CLAIMS STEERING HAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE AND MUST BE REPLACED FOR SAFETY. ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION STEERING POSSIBLE DELAYED DEFECT!. EXPLORER HAS LESS THAN 66,000 MILES ON IT.
VEHICLE HAD TOE LINK REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH RECALL 19V-435 ON 8-19-19. ON 9-10-19, THE REPLACEMENT TOE LINK FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTS THE TOE LINK FAILED AT THE WELD.
THE ENGINE BEGAN LEAKING COOLANT CAUSED BY THE WATER PUMP SEAL FAILING. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHERS THAT ALSO HAVE HAD WATER PUMP FAILURES.
ENGINE RATTLES UPON STARTUP FOR ROUGHLY 2 SECONDS. THIA IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHES AND REPLACEMENT OF TIMING CHAIN AND PHASERS IS NEEDED.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY BECAME INOPERABLE.THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION AND THE "POWER STEERING ACCESS FAILURE" MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PAOLI FORD (100 WEST LANCASTER AVE, PAOLI, PA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SCCM MODULE AND STEERING GEAR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER (CAS-24160629) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,480. *AS*DT *TR*JB
WINDSHIELD INNER AND OUTER TRIM SEALS HAVE FAILED ON BOTH SIDES OF WINDSHIELD .VEHICLE ONLY HAS 72000 MILES. RUBBER HAS DISINTEGRATED. TRIM COMING LOOSE ON VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING.
FOR THE LAST TWO MONTH, MY VEHICLE HAVE HAD A OIL BURNING SMELLS, I CHANGED THE OIL, BUT THE SMELL IS STILL THERE. THIS IS RIGHT AFTER I TURN ON THE HEAT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE FAILED TO TURNOVER WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JIM CLICK FORD LINCOLN 6244 E 22ND ST, TUCSON, AZ 85711 WHERE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT THEN STATED THAT ON ANOTHER OCCASION WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOST MOTIVE POWER AND THE POWER STEERING CEASED. THE INFORMATION SCREEN BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS SINCE TOWED FROM THE DEALER TO THE RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST WITH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXTRA EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD ' NORTH CANTON LOCATED AT 5900 WHIPPLE AVE NW, NORTH CANTON, OH 44720, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING GEAR AND RACK AND PINION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED FOR THE SAME FAILURE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
ON AUGUST 30TH, HAVING DRIVEN TO THE POOL A SHORT DISTANCE FROM MY HOUSE, I WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE STEERING WHEEL TO DRIVE HOME. I MANEUVERED THE WHEEL A BIT AND IT UNLOCKED. THE NEXT DAY WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. I COULD NOT GET IT UNLOCKED TO DRIVE HOME FROM THE POOL NO MATTER WHAT I INITIALLY TRIED. I FOUND IN THE OWNER'S HANDBOOK THAT I SHOULD TURN OFF THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES THEN TRY AGAIN. IT DID WORK, HOWEVER THE BOOK WARNED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AND COULD "CAUSE AN ACCIDENT"...NO JOKE. I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST AUTO DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2012 AND 2013 FORD EXPLORERS THAT WERE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. MY FORD DEALER SAID THAT THEY WERE SORRY BUT MY "VIN NUMBER" WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. SHOCKED, I HAVE TRIED EVERY VENUE TO GET MY $1,973.13 BILL FROM FORD AND MY CAR RENTAL FROM ENTERPRISE FOR $624.71 PAID BY FORD WITH NO AVAIL. SINCE MY VEHICLE, 2013 FORD EXPLORER, HAD THE SAME ISSUE OF THE RECALL, I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY MINE WAS NOT COVERED.
THE ENGINE BEGAN LEAKING COOLANT CAUSED BY THE WATER PUMP SEAL FAILING. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHERS THAT ALSO HAVE HAD WATER PUMP FAILURES.
THROTTLEBODY P2111 CODE. LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. NOT COVERED BY FACTORY SERVICE BULLETIN 13N03. WHY NOT?
2013 FORD EXPLORER SPORT - MY VEHICLE IS HAVING DANGEROUS STEERING ISSUES. MY VEHICLE IS APPEARS TO BE EXPERIENCING AN INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ANY SPEED THERE APPEARS TO BE STEERING LOSS. THERE ALSO APPEARS TO BE LOSS OF STEERING WHEN AT DIFFERENT STEERING ANGELS. IT APPEARS TO SHUT DOWN THE POWER THAT IS BEING SENT TO THE POWER STEERING ASSIST. THIS FAULT HAPPENS WHEN IN ANY LOCATION, HIGHWAY, PARKING LOT, LOCAL STREET, CITY STREET, ETC. THE ISSUE HAPPENS RANDOMLY AT ALL SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. THE MOST DISCOURAGING ASPECT OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE IS THAT FORD HAD RECOGNIZED THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE OF MINE, THAT WERE ONLY BUILT JUST MONTHS BEFORE MINE. IT IS ALSO DISAPPOINTING TO SEE THAT FORD IS NOT EVEN LOOKING INTO THE ISSUE (AS TOLD BY CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE IN THE PHILIPPINES).
THE POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP & THE TURN SIGNAL & WIPERS WOULDN'T WORK. AT FIRST , I COULD TURN THE VEHICLE OFF & IT WOULD RESET BUT IT STARTED HAPPENING MORE OFTEN AT A LOW SPEED OR WHEN I WOULD PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. IT WENT COMPLETELY OUT IN AUGUST 2019. MY PARTICULAR 2013 FORD EXPLORED DIDN'T HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS & IT COST $2,300 TO FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, A DEER JUMPED OUT IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND LEFT THE CONTACT NO TIME TO BRAKE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE DEER. THE DEAR WAS STUCK IN THE GRILL FOR A FEW SECONDS. THEN THE DEAR LOOSENED ITSELF AND RAN OFF. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AFTER THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE AN ESTIMATE ON THE COSMETIC REPAIRS WERE PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE BEEN SMELLING EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THIS DAY I WAS GETTING A HEADACHE AND FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT. I PULLED OVER SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS BEFORE PASSING OUT. WOKE UP 30 MINS LATER. SINCE THEN I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I HAVE A 2013 FORD EXPLORER AND HAVE BEEN RECENTLY EXPERIENCING RANDOM, DANGEROUS STALLS DUE TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED TWICE AND IT CONTINUES TO FAIL, LEAVING OUR CAR IN A "LIMP-HOME MODE" IN DANGEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS. IT USUALLY STALLS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A LOW IDLE POSITION, SUCH AS SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT AND THEN ACCELERATING. HOWEVER, IT HAD ALSO STALLED WHILE TRAVELING HIGHER SPEEDS AND THEN ACCELERATING. ONCE I PULL OFF THE ROAD, THE CAR ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY UNTIL I'M ABLE TO PUT IN PARK AND THEN TURN THE IGNITION OFF. AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE ENGINE WILL USUALLY RESTART AT NORMAL IDLE AND PROPER ENGINE FUNCTION IS RESTORED UNTIL THE NEXT THROTTLE BODY FAILURE.

THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FRENCHIES FORD (216 EAST ORVIS ST, MECCENA, NY) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY AND STEERING SHAFT WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SUDDENLY BECAME INOPERABLE WHILE DRIVING
LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT LOWER SPEEDS OR WHEN STATIONARY WITH THE STEERING LOCKING OUT AT HIGHER HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL
POWER STEERING WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW FROM FORD AND THEY SHOULD REPAIR IT. THIS FAILURE IS CAUSED BY OVERHEATING OF THE ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLE IN THE STEERING RACK. I WILL SUE FORD IF THEY DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS COMPLAINT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS REVERSING OUT OF HIS DRIVEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL RIGHT TO LEFT AND NOTICED A VERY LOUD ABNORMAL, WINDING NOISE. ALSO, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. TERREBONNE FORD LINCOLN (339 ST CHARLES ST, HOUMA, LA 70360, (985) 876-5100) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
WHEN DRIVING THE STEERING BECAME IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY WIFE TO STEER THE CAR. POWER STEERING ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME WE WERE TRAVELING DOWN A HIGHWAY AND THE SECOND TIME SHE WAS PARKING IN THE GARAGE. SHE WAS UNABLE TO PARK THE CAR STAIGHT IN THE GARAGE. WE TOOK THE CAR TO HERMAN FORD IN LUVERNE, MN TO BE REPAIRED. WE WERE TOLD THE PROBLEM IN THE STEERING GEAR. THROUGH MY RESEARCH FORD HAS RECALLED OTHER EXPLORERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD IS TELLING ME THAT MY CAR DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. THIS PROBLEM CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IT OCCURS.
FRONT MANIFOLD CRACK THAT IS ALLOWING EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE VEHICLE.
TRANSFER CASE LEAK AND FAILURE AT 82755 MILES. NO APPARENT CAUSE. CAR LURCHED FORWARD TWICE AND ALMOST HIT VEHICLES IN FRONT OF CAR

ON AUGUST 21, 2019, THE STEERING WHEEL ASSIST AND TRACTION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WOOLWINE FORD-LINCOLN (LOCATED AT 3080 US 49, COLLINS, MS 39428, (601) 765-4461) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY SEIZED AND COULD NOT BE TURNED IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. DURING THE FAILURE, THE MESSAGE 'POWER STEERING ERROR' WAS DISPLAYED. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. CANTON ALL STAR FORD (17849 1-20, CANTON, TX) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
MY STEERING WHEEL IS LOOSE NOT SURE IF IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH A RECALL WITH THE POWER STEERING OR NOT.
WHILE DRIVING THE CARE BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN EVEN THOUGH I AM HITTING THE ACCELERATOR AND EVENTUALLY COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP WHERE I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART. THEN I WILL START DRIVING AND IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. IN A 10 MINUTE DRIVE THE OTHER DAY IT TURNED OFF 3 TIMES. HAVEN'T DRIVEN THE CAR IN OVER A WEEK BECAUSE I'M SCARED IT WILL HAPPEN TO ME AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN THROUGH 4 STEERING RACKS EACH TIME IT IS REPLACED THE VEHICLE HAS LEFT THE SERVICE SHOP ONLY TO RETURN IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. STEERING TIGHTENS UP RENDERING THE VEHICLE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. DASHBOARD DISPLAYS WARNINGS SUCH AS POWER STEERING FAILURE, SERVICE POWER STEERING, POWERTRAIN LOCK, ETC. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. ONCE I WAS ON A BACK ROAD, ONCE ON A HIGHWAY AND ONCE ON A SERVICE ROAD JUST MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP
3 DIFFERENT OCCURRENCES WHILE DRIVING MY POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING AND AN ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP TELLING ME POWER ASSIST FAILURE. ONCE WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, TWICE WHILE TURNING IN TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. I AM UPSET DUE TO THE FACT I DIDN'T OWN THIS VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL AND I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS WAS INCLUDED OR EVEN RESOLVED IF IT WERE. I FIND IT HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE TO BE TOLD I CANNOT GET A MATTER REPAIRED THAT IS HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE THAT WAS SPECIFIC TO A RECALL AND I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF IT BEING REPAIRED OR NOT. DRIVING THE CAR SATURDAY THE 20TH OF JULY, RUNNING REGULAR ERRANDS, THE CAR WAS FINE. WOKE UP SUNDAY MORNING TO GO TO CHURCH AND THE STEERING STARTED GRINDING WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID IT WAS THE STEERING GEAR AND ONLY FORD CAN FIX THAT, BUT WHO HAS 1600.00.
THE MOLDING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY DETACHED AND FLEW OFF DURING TRAVEL. THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED 2 YEARS AGO AND WE REPLACED THE PART ($200) AND INSTALLED IT OURSELVES. WELL GUESS WHAT HAPPENED AGAIN? THE PASSENGER SIDE MOLDING DETACHED AND FLEW OFF DURING TRAVEL THIS TIME. BOTH TIMES THIS OCCURRED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. NOW I KNOW FOR SURE IT'S A FAULTY PART AND NOT A FLUKE. I AM SUPER FRUSTRATED THAT I HAVE TO COVER THE COST OF THIS A SECOND TIME. ALSO TO HAVE PIECES OF YOUR VEHICLE FLYING OFF AND POTENTIALLY HITTING OTHER VEHICLES WHO ARE ALSO TRAVELING FREEWAY SPEEDS IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK. NOT TO MENTION IT MAKES THE VEHICLE LOOK REALLY UGLY. I AM FILLING THIS FORM OUT AT WORK AND AM UNABLE TO UPLOAD A PHOTO, BUT IF YOU GOOGLE FORD EXPLORER WINDSHIELD MOLDING ISSUES YOU WILL SEE EXACTLY WHAT I AM REPORTING IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE.
FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS HAVE BEEN KNOCKING OVER 1 YEAR AGO. AT THE TIME MY CAR WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. AT FIRST THE FORD DEALERSHIP THEY THOUGHT IT WAS VALVE BODY IN THE SUSPENSION THE FIRST TIME THEY CHECKED. EXPLORER WAS JERKING WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY REPLACED THAT BECAUSE I COMPLAINED THAT I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH A 5 TO 6 YEAR OLD CAR. ONLY HAS 77,000 MILES ON IT.
I AM WRITING THIS LETTER IN REGARDS TO MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER XLT. I'VE NOTICED A FAST ACTING PAINT FLAW THAT IS GROWING IN CRITICALITY, AND IS GROWING INCREASINGLY FRUSTRATING EACH DAY! WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THIS WAS NOT RECOGNIZABLE TO THE EYE OBVIOUSLY, AS I WOULDN'T HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE OTHERWISE. CURRENTLY, THE PAINT IS BUBBLING UP AROUND THE ENTIRE EDGE OF THE HOOD. ON 7/14 ONE OF THOSE BUBBLES OF PAINT FLAKED OFF, WHICH WILL NOW LEAD TO OTHER MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE PAINT AND LOOK OF, NOT ONLY THE HOOD, BUT ESSENTIALLY THE ENTIRE CAR. AT THIS POINT I'VE BEEN FORCED TO DISCONTINUE TAKING THIS VEHICLE THROUGH THE CAR WASH (TOUCH OR NO TOUCH), AS MORE PAINT WILL FLAKE OFF. NOT ONLY THAT, I AVOID THE AREAS WHEN I WASH AND WAX THE VEHICLE BY HAND. IF WHAT FORD'S SLOGAN RINGS TRUE (BUILT FORD TOUGH), THEN I MUST SAY, THAT I'M PERFECTLY FINE WITH DOING BUSINESS ELSEWHERE, AS THIS PAINT JOB IS FAR FROM TOUGH, IT'S ROUGH! I PRIDE MYSELF IN BEING A HARD WORKING CONSUMER, AND WHEN I TAKE THE PLUNGE TO SPEND THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO PURCHASE A PRODUCT, I WANT TO STEP BACK AND BE PROUD OF IT, AND THE HARD WORK THAT IT TOOK TO BE IN A POSITION TO MAKE THIS KIND OF PURCHASING DECISION. I WOULD ALSO EXPECT A SENSE OF PRIDE FROM THE COMPANY'S PERSPECTIVE TO STAND BY YOUR PRODUCT, AND THAT IS PRECISELY WHY I'M WRITING THIS COMPLAINT LETTER.

TRANSFER CASE LEAK AND FAILURE AT ~76000 MILES. NO APPARENT CAUSE. LEAK CREATES BURNING SMELL IN CABIN OF VEHICLE
DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY GOING 75MPH WHEN WE GOT A POWER STEERING FAULT ERROR. WE LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND TRACTION CONTROL. VERY SCARY WITH OUR 3 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EXPRESSWAY. CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT WHILE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, OUR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE SINCE IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT MODELS UNDER THE RECALL ARE EXPERIENCING. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ASAP. WE PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE FAULT WENT AWAY AND WE REGAINED POWER STEERING. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC OTHERWISE WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE OPERATING 2013 FORD EXPLORER ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE RIGHT WHEEL SUDDENLY TURNED 45 DEGREES RIGHT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO UNEXPECTEDLY VEER TO RIGHT TOWARDS CURB AND PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY. A VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWED THE OUTER TIE ROD DISCONNECTED FROM OUTER TIE ROD CONNECTOR WITHOUT WARNING. MECHANIC DETERMINED THE MALE THREAD ON OUTER TIE ROD "WORKED" IT'S WAY OUT OF THE FEMALE OUTER TIE ROD CONNECTOR. THE METAL THREADS ON THE END OF THE TIE ROD WERE STRIPPED ALLOWING OUTER TIE ROD AND TIE ROD CONNECTOR TO SLIDING IN AND OUT FREELY WITHOUT ANY ROTATION(LOOSENING/TIGHTENING) OF TIE ROD END. FORTUNATELY NO PERSONAL INJURY WAS SUSTAINED BY ANYONE INVOLVED. AT TIME OF THE INCIDENT THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES AND WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION RECEIVING REGULAR SERVICE. I BELIEVE THE OEM EQUIPMENT ON THE VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE AND RUNS THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IF IT WERE TO FAIL AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EXPLAIN INCIDENT AND THEY SIMPLY STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY DID NOT SEEM TO BE INTERESTED IN THE DETAILS OF MECHANICAL FAILURE AS THEY DID NOT CONNECT ME WITH A TECHNICIAN. CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME IF THEY WOULD MARK IT AS A SIMPLE TIE ROD FAILURE AND IF ENOUGH PEOPLE "COMPLAIN" THEY WOULD CONTACT ME. OUT OF ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION I REPLACED BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT TIE RODS AND TIE ROD ENDS TO PREVENT FURTHER FAILURE.
