WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. IT BEGAN AS INTERMITTENT AND NOW HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE CAR.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON DUE TO A DEFECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY LOCATED IN THE DRIVER'S DOOR. FORD FIXED IT ONCE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. I BEGAN ACTING UP AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER IT WENT OUT OF WARRANTY. IT'S AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY SHOULD FIX IT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS ON THEIR DIME AND NOT THE CUSTOMER'S.
IN SUMMER 2015 WE BEGAN SMELLING EXHAUST IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON. IT STARTED OUT AS A MILD SMELL AND CONTINUED TO GET WORSE OVER TIME. WE MENTIONED IT TO OUR SERVICE ADVISOR MULTIPLE TIMES WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS, WE GOT THE DEALERSHIP TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND ADMIT THERE WAS AN ISSUE BUT UNFORTUNATELY THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. AS TIME WENT ON, THE SMELL WAS PRESENT ALL THE TIME WHETHER OR NOT THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON. IN EARLY 2018, WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PERFORM THE FORD AUTHORIZED FIX FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE (SEALING HOLES, REPROGRAM THE A/C, ETC.). HOWEVER, THE SMELL NEVER WENT AWAY AND WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TWICE TO HAVE IT VERIFIED. THIS LAST TIME THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT FORD WOULD DO AND THAT WE HAD TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS 95K MILES ON IT CURRENTLY.
I HAVE A FORD EXPLORER THAT WAS PART OF THE 14S06 RECALL. BEFORE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP IT WAS OWNED BY ENTERPRISE RENTAL, AFTER THEY TURNED THE CAR IN TRI COUNTY FORD SHOWS THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL ON THE VEHICLE IN 2014. THEY SAID THEY DID THE SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD ON THE EPS. I HAVE SINCE LOST STEERING ASSIST ON MY VEHICLE A NUMBER OF TIMES SO I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. AFTER CALLING FORD THEY AUTHORIZED A LOCAL DEALER TO LOOK AT IF AND FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AT NO CHARGE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THEY CAN NOT CONNECT TO THE STEERING GEAR AND THAT PER THE RECALL IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER THE RECALL AND BECAUSE THEY SAY THAT THE RECALL HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE (SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD) AND AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL BEING PERFORMED THERE WERE NO DTC CODES SO THE DOWNLOAD SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT. IF IT WOULD HAVE SHOWED CODES AT THE TIME OF THE SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD THEY WOULD HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR AT THAT TIME. I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE COVERED AS IT PART OF THE RECALL I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AND THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER COMPLAINING TO FORD SAID THEY WOULD COVER 1/2 OF THE COST OF REPAIRS. BUT DUE TO THIS BEING A SAFETY RECALL I FEEL IT SHOULD BE COVERED 100%
BURNT OIL SMELL DURING ACCELERATION OR LONG TRIPS. THIS IS EASILY REPEATABLE AND HAPPENS EVERY TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE TERRAIN SYSTEM MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
SMELLING EXHAUST ODORS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. EXHAUST SMELL OCCURS WHEN YOU ARE AT FULL THROTTLE, SUCH AS WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO ENTER A HIGHWAY. THE SMELL STAYS IN THE VEHICLE, AND IT IS VERY STRONG.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FERNELIUS FORD LINCOLN INC (10459 NORTH STRAITS HIGHWAY, CHEBOYGAN, MI 49721, 844 327-8314) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
DOOR AJAR NOTIFICATION REMAINS ON WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED AND VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ALERT TONE WILL SOUND WHEN VEHICLE STARTS MOVING OR COMES TO A STOP. AUTO DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT FUNCTION OR DOORS WILL NOT REMAIN LOCKED. INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON UNTIL VEHICLE STARTS MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY FORD AND SENSORS CLEANED UNDER WARRANTY AT 25K MILES. FIX LASTED ABOUT 4 MONTHS. CURRENT MILEAGE 67K.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND A METAL TO METAL GRINDING NOISE EMITTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE THE REAR DRIVER SIDE CALIPER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
FIGURED OUT THAT THE CONSTANT ANNOYING FLAPPING NOISE DURING CROSS WINDS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THAT SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD TRIM OR LOWER DOOR POST WAS ACTUALLY COMING FROM A LOOSE PANEL FASTENER OR SHIELD CLIP ON THE INNER FENDER SPLASH SHIELD/SKIRT. THERE ARE SEVERAL OF THESE FASTENERS AND ONE WAS LOOSE ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE SHIELD TO VIBRATE. ONCE THAT WAS RESECURED IT HASN'T MADE THE NOISE SINCE.
EXHAUST ODOR NOTICED INSIDE 2013 EXPLORER. THE FUMES HAVE CAUSED HEADACHES,NAUSEA, AND FATIGUE. THESE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED DURING ACCELERATION AND SUSTAINED HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE EXHAUST SMELL IS NOTICED THROUGHOUT INSIDE THE VEHICLE, FROM THE DRIVER TO THE PASSENGERS IN SECOND AND THIRD ROW (MY KIDS). THIS IS A REPEATABLE INCIDENT.
PURCHASED MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED WITH 50 MILES ON IT IN NOVEMBER 2012.DURING 2015 HAD A STRONG MOLD SMELL,UPON INVESTIGATION FOUND APPROXIMATELY 3'' OF WATER IN MY SPARE TIRE STORAGE AREA, 3RD ROW SEAT SHOULDER BELT WET AND CARPET UNDER 3RD ROW SEAT PASSENGER SIDE SOAKED.TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHILE UNDER WARRANTY ON 4-27-2015 / 32,002 MILES,HAD 17 DAYS.TOOK IN UNDER WARRANTY 6-25-2015 WITH 34,460 MILES,HAD 4 DAYS.TOOK IN 3-11-16 WITH 44,501 MILES,DEALERSHIP SENT VEHICLE TO THEIR BODYSHOP FOR 4 DAYS.TOOK TO DEALERSHIP 2-14-18 THEY SENT IT OFF SIGHT TO JR'S AUTOMOTIVE TO REPAIR WATER LEAK.TOOK TO DEALERSHIP 1-20-19 FOR EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT I HAVE HAD FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS, FOUND WATER IN VEHICLE SAME AREA 2 DAYS LATER.IN THE APPROXIMATELY LAST 5 YEARS I HAVE HAD 2 CASES OPENED WITH "FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTER"AS DESCRIBED IN THE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE PLUS FILED A CLAIM WITH BBB WHEN IT WAS APPARENT THAT I WOULD NEVER GET OFF OF THE MERRY-GO-ROUND WITH FORD.BBB TURNED ME DOWN BASE ON TOO MANY MILES ON VEHICLE WHICH REMEMBER IS NOT A MECHANICAL ISSUE BUT A WEATHER DEPENDENT ISSUE.I COULD HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP DOZEN OF TIMES DURING THIS PERIOD BUT BECAUSE OF INCONVENIENCE WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND WORKING 12 HOUR SHIFT WORK IT WAS JUST IMPRACTICABLE.ALL ISSUES WITH WATER INSIDE OF VEHICLE WAS WHEN I CHECKED IT AFTER IT WAS PARKED AND OF COURSE WITH RAIN OR MELTED SNOW INVOLVED AND ON A CITY STREET.
INTERIOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR LATCHES ARE LOOSE AND DON'T HAVE ANY RESISTANCE ON THEM. BECAUSE OF THIS THE DOORS CAN EASILY BE OPENED WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT AT ANY SPEED. *TR
FOR THE 2ND TIME IN LESS THAN 9 MONTHS THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SPUTTER WHEN ACCELERATING AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY UNTIL IT FINALLY DIED. THE CABIN FILLED UP WITH A STRONG FUME SMELL. FIRST TIME WAS ~25K MILES AND THIS TIME WAS ~30K MILES. *TR
DRIVER DOOR SENSOR HAS GONE OUT - THINKS THAT DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN! *TR
WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL JUST COME ON SOMETIMES WHEN YOU START THE VEHICLE. IF YOU TURN THEM ON TO CLEAN WINDSHIELD AND TURN THEM OFF THEY WILL STILL COME ON AFTER YOU HAVE TURNED THEM OFF. REALLY A PAIN TO DEAL WITH. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
EXITING FROM PARKING LOT AND SPEED OF ABOUT 15 MPH ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, NO POT HOLES, AT ABOUT 100 FT FROM THE PARKING EXIT, IT HIT AN ELECTRIC POST. LEFT FRONT SUSPENSION, FENDER, WHEELS,PILLARS, ROCKER & FLOOR, RADIATOR SUPPORT, FRONT LAMPS, HOOD,STEERING ROCK, CRADLE, TRANSMISSION TRANSFER CASE, FRONT DOOR AND MANY MORE DAMAGE. ALL ARE IN LEFT SIDE. I CHECKED THE VIN BUT IT IS NOT ON RECALL FOR POWER STEERING PROBLEM HOWEVER I SUSPECT POWER STEERING WAS THE CAUSED OF ACCIDENT. IT IS A MAJOR DAMAGED AND THE INSURANCE IS NOT YET DECIDED IF REPAIR OR TOTAL WRECK. I ASKED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO SEE ON THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER OF THE VEHICLE BUT UP TO NOW THEY HAVE NOT YET CHECK. *TR
GAS/EXHAUST SMELL WHILE DRIVING. THIS SMELL IS COMING OUT OF THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITION VENTS WHILE DRIVING. MAKE YOU NAUSEOUS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE VENTS INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE ECO BOOST MOTOR WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EVAP PURGE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,491.
DASH DISPLAYED SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. TRACTION CONTROL WAS DISABLED AND STABILITY CONTROL WAS DISABLED AND INDICATORS LIT IN DASH. DIFFICULT TO STEER DUE TO PARTIAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEER RACK UNIT NEEDS TO GE REPLACED. *TR
PARKED ON SLIGHT INCLINE IN DRIVEWAY, DID NOT USE PARKING BRAKE, AFTER ABOUT TWO HOURS I CAME BACK AND NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE HAD ROLLED INTO THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME, A TOTAL DISTANCE OF ABOUT 3 FEET, MY TIRE TRACKS WERE VISIBLE IN THE SNOW, WHICH IS HOW I IDENTIFIED THAT MY VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS AND WAS NOT HIT FROM THE VEHICLE BEHIND MINE. *TR
MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE SENSOR IN THE DOOR AS YOU CAN MANIPULATE IT UP AND DOWN TO MAKE IT WORK BUT IT JUST KEEPS HAPPENING. AWFULLY DESIGN. THIS ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE SENSOR MAKES THE INTERNAL LIGHTING COME ON SO AT NIGHT IT CAN BLIND THE DRIVER WHEN IT COMES ON! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THIRD ROW SEAT FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SEAT WAS NOT REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LEAK BY THE TOP OF THE REAR HATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
A WARNING POPS UP STATING SHIFT TO PARK WHEN IT IS CLEARLY IN PARK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON AT FRONT TOP OF SHIFTER A FEW TIMES TO MAKE IT SENSE THAT IT IS IN PARK.
PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM FORD DEALER AS A PRE-CERTIFIED VEHICLE AT DELIVERY FOUND THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD HAD BUBBLING PAINT, DEALER TRIED TO HAVE FORD COVER THE REPAIR BUT FORD DENIED THE CLAIM DUE TO VEHICLE BEING OUT OF WARRANTY BY MILEAGE, VEHICLE IS 2 YRS OLD AND ONLY 2200 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY BY MILEAGE. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH TO HAPPEN WITH ALUMINUM HOODS SINCE 2002 AND FORD HAS PREVIOUS TSB'S FOR OLDER VEHICLES DUE TO THIS ISSUE.
PAINT BUBBLING AT EDGE OF HOOD NO DAMAGE TO HOOD. *TR
I SMELL GAS IN THE CAR THIS HAS BEEN GOING FOR A WHILE

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ODOR OF EXHAUST/CARBON MONOXIDE EMITTED THROUGH THE VENT OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BECOME DROWSY WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXHAUST ODOR REMAINED PERMANENTLY IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD DEALER, LOCATED ON 1227 GULF FREEWAY, HOUSTON, TX 77034 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REFILL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE REPAIR AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,126.
2013 FORD EXPLORER. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR PREVIOUS FORD VEHICLES, REGARDING A STEERING DEFECT. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. *TA THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000. UPDATED 04/04/16*LJ UPDATED 04/05/16.*JB
THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH. I COULD STEER MANUALLY BUT IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE. *TR
STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. SMELLS BAD AND GIVES ME A HEADACHE. I DRIVE WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT THE EFFECTS IT IS HAVING ON HER (AS WELL AS MYSELF). THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE!! *TR
THE PAINT ON THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD STARTED BUBBLING AFTER ABOUT 2 YEARS. AFTER 3 YEARS THE PAINT STARTED COMING OFF. CURRENTLY THERE ARE 3 DIME SIZED SPOTS WHERE THE PAINT HAS COME OFF EXPOSING THE CORRODED METAL HOOD. IT APPEARS THE HOOD WAS NOT PROPERLY PREPPED BEFORE PAINT. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM ON FORD VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
NOTICED THAT MY PAINT IS PEELING AND FLAKING ON INSIDE PART OF LEFT REAR DRIVERS DOOR RIGHT TO BARE METAL AWAITING TO HEAR WHAT FORD IS GOING TO DO VEHICLE STILL UNDER FULL BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. ALSO SAME DOOR NOT CLOSING PROPERLY ALSO BEING ADDRESSED. *TR
I AM HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER AND FORD DEALERSHIP.. IN THE NUT SHELF APPARENTLY THEY HAVE BEEN SOME ISSUED ALREADY RECORDED ABOUT THE SMELL OF EXHAUST IN THE CABIN ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY IF YOU TRYING TO GET ON OR PASS SOMEONE ETC..' I HAVE BEEN TELLING FORD IN TALLASSEE (WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR) AND LONG LEWIS IN PRATTVILLE THE SAME THING' THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR' ANYWAY MY CAR IS BACK IN TALLASSEE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP' NOW THEY SAID YES IT IS AN ISSUE BUT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WON'T COVER IT B/C IT'S AN UPDATE AND NOT A PART THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED' THE UPDATE IS $1300' NEEDLESS TO SAY I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR IT RIGHT NOW.. THE MAIN ISSUE IS THAT OF COURSE, FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT WON'T ISSUE A RECALL' THE MUFFLER EXHAUST GOES INSIDE THE CABIN I/O OUTSIDE WHICH IS WHY THE SMELL IS SO BAD'. ME AND MY FAMILY HAVE BEEN BREATHING CARBON MONOXIDE EVERY TIME WE GET IN THE CAR.. ESPECIALLY LONG RIDE, WE ALL GET HEADACHES'. COUPLE YEARS AGO I STARTED BEING WITH HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES AND HAVE BEEN PUT ON MEDS' I NEVER HAD MIGRAINES BEFORE WE GOT THE CAR' COINCIDENCE??? DON'T THINK SO.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE FROM THE JENNINGS ANDERSON FORD DEALER. IT HAD AROUND 17,000 MILES ON IT. SHORTLY AFTER I VEHICLE, I BROUGHT IT IN BECAUSE THE EXHAUST FUMES ARE BEING SUCKED INTO THE VEHICLE WHEN I ACCELERATE SUCH AS GETTING ON THE FREEWAY. DAVID SAVINICH (SERVICE ADVISER) TOLD ME THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY HAD A FIX FOR IT. THEY INSTALLED THEIR FIX BUT IT IS STILL SUCKING IN EXHAUST FUMES. I TALKED TO JEFF ASHER (SERVICE DEPT MANAGER) AND I ASKED HIM WHETHER FORD HAD A FIX FOR IT. I WAS TOLD NO. I ASKED JEFF TO CALL ME IF THERE WAS A FIX. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND THEIR IS STILL NO REPAIR. I GET A BAD HEADACHE EVERY TIME I GET ON THE FREEWAY. IT IS SO BAD THAT IT ALSO MAKES ME NAUSEATED. I AM UNABLE TO USE THE AIR CONDITIONER RECIRCULATATION IN THE CAR.
THE VEHICLE SUCKS IN EXHAUST. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES. THE SECOND TIME THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT BUT IT DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE BAD ALLERGIES. RECIRCULATE USUALLY HELPS BY NOT SUCKING IN THE POLLEN. I CAN'T USE THE RECIRCULATE FEATURE BECAUSE ONCE IT SUCKS IN THE AIR, THEY RECIRCULATE JUST RECIRCULATES THE EXHAUST FUMES. WHEN THE AIR IS LEFT ON NORMAL, I BREATHE IN EXHAUST WHEN I TAKE OF, ESPECIALLY ENTERING A FREEWAY. THIS GIVES A SERIOUS HEADACHE. I HAVE TOLD DAVID SAVONITCH AND JEFF ASHER AT JENNINGS ANDERSON FORD IN BOERNE, TEXAS THAT I AM NOT SATISFIED BUT WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO OTHER FIX.
IN DECEMBER 2014, SEVERAL PATROL OFFICERS FROM THE YARMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTED THE ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF A 2013 FORD EXPLORER INTERCEPTOR SUV THEY HAD BEEN OPERATING. WHILE SITTING STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE IDLING, THE OFFICERS DETECTED THE ODOR OF EXHAUST LEAKING INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THIS VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION BY OUR PUBLIC WORKS MECHANIC, MULTIPLE CRACKS WERE DISCOVERED IN THE WELDS CONNECTING THE EXHAUST PIPES TO THE RESONATOR. THESE CRACKS WERE ALLOWING EXHAUST FUMES TO LEAK DIRECTLY INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING STATIONARY. FOR SAFETY REASONS, THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM THE FLEET UNTIL THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE REPLACEMENT EXHAUST ELIMINATED THE EXHAUST LEAKAGE PROBLEM. A SECOND FORD SUV OWNED BY THE YARMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT AND PURCHASED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE ONE MENTIONED ABOVE WAS ALSO PULLED FROM THE FLEET AND INSPECTED FOR EXHAUST CRACKS. THIS SUV, WHICH HAS JUST OVER 55,000 MILES ON IT, WAS ALSO FOUND TO HAVE A CRACK IN THE WELD SEPARATING THE EXHAUST AND RESONATOR. FORD MOTOR COMPANY PROVIDED A NEW EXHAUST FOR THIS VEHICLE UNDER THE MANUFACTURER?S WARRANTY.
ON DECEMBER 15 2014, I WAS DRIVING TO PONCE ON HIGHWAY 52 IN PUERTO RICO. WHEN SUDDENTLY THE ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING. AFTER THAT THE PROBLEM HAVE CONTINUE DOING IT, SOMETIMES THREE TIMES A DAY. THE LAST TIME WAS MONDAY 29 2014 WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO THE DEALER. I'M VERY AFRAID OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE KNOWING THAT CAN STALL ANY MOMENT WHITHOUT NOTICE AND IMPLICATE ME IN AN ACCIDENT. *JS
2013 FORD EXPLORER , OVERHEATING FRONT BRAKES ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT . I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO LIEF JOHNSON FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE SINCE DEC, 4 2014 . AGAIN ON JUNE 18 ,2015. THE THIRD TIME ON SEPT. 29 ,2015. BOTH FRONT BRAKES OVERHEAT CAUSING WARPED DISCS ,IT BECOMES WORST AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE REQUIRED , EMITTING VIBRATIONS THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL . OVERHEATING FRONT WHEEL BRAKES LEADING TO WARPED ROTORS!!! . THE 2013 FORD EXPLORER 3 TIMES SINCE DECEMBER 2014. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT BRAKES OVERHEAT THE ROTORS EVENTIALLY LEADING TO WARPED ROTORS AND UNUSUAL VIBRATION IN STEERING , IS MORE SEVERE AT HIGH SPEED .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR COMING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING VENT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ODOR CAUSED THE CONTACT TO HAVE HEAD PRESSURE, DIZZINESS, EYES SORES, EYE PAIN, AND INABILITY TO SLEEP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TED BRITT FORD FAIRFAX, 11165 FAIRFAX BLVD, FAIRFAX, VA 22030) WHERE IT WAS CLEANED, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS CLEANED, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
THE CAR'S HOOD HAS DEVELOPED RUST FROM THE UNDER THE CLEAR COAT AND ALONG THE WELDED SEAMS THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE FRONT HOOD PAINT HAS BUBBLED AND PEELED OFF THE FRONT EDGE. APPEARS TO HAVE BUBBLED IN MORE PLACES, NOW AWAITING EVEN MORE PEELING. OBVIOUSLY A PAINT DEFECT. ALTHOUGH I WILL ENTER A DATE - IT'S BEEN A CONSTANT DEFECT. (SPEAKING WITH OTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNERS - A COMMON COMPLAINT.) #2 ALSO, FOR SEVERAL YEARS THE CAR DRIVER DOOR SENSOR (?) LIGHT (HENCE THE CEILING LIGHTS) STAY ON (ALTHOUGH THE CEILING EVENTUALLY TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING). THIS INDICATION THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR / NOT CLOSED IS FREQUENT AND OFTEN AND HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN VIRGINIA SEVERAL TIMES - WITH NO REPAIR / FIX. IT IS NOT CONSTANT BUT FREQUENT.
I HAVE AN EXPLORER 2013(32762 MILES) WITH BIG ODOR OF GASES INSIDE THE CABIN WHEN I ACCELERATE MY SUV. THE ODOR OF GASES IS AMAZING INSIDE THE CABIN AND I AFRAID WITH THAT ODOR CAN CAUSE HEALTH PROBLEM NOW OR IN THE FUTURE TO MY FAMILY. I ALREADY WENT TO THE FORD SERVICE AND THEY MAKE A SEAL BUT THE PROBLEM STILL THERE. (TSB 14-04-NA). THE GOVERNMENT NEED TO DO SOMETHING.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, MY STEERING BEGAN TO FEEL TIGHTER AND TIGHTER, WITH THE WHEEL HARDER TO TURN. SOON IT BEGAN TO REQUIRE A "PUSH" TO MAKE THE MOVEMENT OF THE WHEEL BEGIN. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THE DASH ALERTS CAME ON. ONE SAID, "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND ONE INDICATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL FUNCTION WAS OFF. THE MANUAL SAID I SHOULD SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD RESET THESE. INSTEAD, THE STEERING LOCKED ENTIRELY. NO DEALERS WERE STILL OPEN THE NIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING, SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SHOP I'VE USED. THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE COMPUTER HOOKUPS NECESSARY SO I TOWED IT AGAIN TO ANOTHER SHOP. THEY "CLEARED" THE CODES, AND FOUND THE VEHICLE DID NOT MALFUNCTION AGAIN. THEY ALERTED ME TO THE RECALL, FORDS #14S06 THIS RECALL INCLUDED EXPLORES MADE BETWEEN MAY OF 2010 AND FEBRUARY 28, 2013. MY EXPLORER WAS MADE VERY SOON THEREAFTER, WITHIN DAYS, IN FACT. GIVEN THAT TIMING AND THE FACTS THAT INDICATE THAT MY VEHICLE SUFFERED THE SAME DEFECTS THE RECALL ADDRESSES, I FEEL MY VEHICLE REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE LOCAL DEALER ADVISE ME THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE IS NOT WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE RECALL, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. I HEREBY SUBMIT MY PETITION FOR AN NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO WHETHER FORD HAS MET IT'S OBLIGATIONS IN THIS MATTER. I HEREBY REQUEST THE RECALL MANAGEMENT DIVISION OF THE NHTSA TO ENSURE THAT THE SCOPE OF THE RECALL [FORD #14S06] IS ADEQUATE. I FEEL THE SCOPE FELL SHORT, IN MY CASE, BY A FEW DAYS, LEAVING MY VEHICLE DANGEROUSLY UNPROTECTED. I CANNOT REPAIR THIS DEFECT MYSELF. THERE IS NO DIAGNOSIS AVAILABLE FOR ME. THE DEFECT MAY BE IN THE SENSOR, OR IN THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE, OR IN THE STEERING "RACK". THE LOCAL FORD DEALER ADVISES ME THAT THERE ARE NO "RACKS" AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME ANYWHERE. THE NHTSA IS MY ONLY HOPE.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WE HAD NOTICED DIFFICULTY STEERING IN OUR 2013 FORD EXPLORER. ON NOV 18, 2014 THIS PROBLEM NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH, PROMPTING US TO TAKE IT TO OUR DEALERSHIP PRIOR TO A LENGTHY THANKSGIVING TRIP. OUR DEALERSHIP WENT THROUGH MULTIPLE SYSTEMS CHECKS WITH NO RESOLVE. THEY CONTACTED THEIR REPRESENTATIVE FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTION. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP FROM NOV 24,2014 UNTIL THE DEALER DECIDED TO PURCHASE IT FROM US MARCH 6, 2015. WE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD 12/19/14 CASE # CAS-5717020 AND THE BBB 12/11/15 CASE # FRD15122601. FORD MAINTAINED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, YET MADE OVER 7 ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT WE CHOSE NOT TO RETRIEVE THE VEHICLE - BUT EACH TIME FORD SAID IT WAS FIXED AND WE WENT TO GET IT - THE DEALER INSISTED IT WAS NOT SAFE. THE DEALER FINALLY PURCHASED IT FROM US JUST TO GET US OUT OF IT AND PRESERVE OUR RELATIONSHIP. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN SERVICE. WE WERE MADE TO FEEL STUPID REGARDING THE COMPLAINT. AND WE ARE OUT SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS! SEEING THIS MOST RECENT RECALL REGARDING A STEERING PROBLEM THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF IN JUNE 2014 MAKES ME ANGRY AND SICK THAT THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE KILLED US, AND IS LIKELY OUT THERE WITH A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER WHOSE LIFE AND THE LIVES OF THOSE AROUND THEM ARE IN DANGER!! I HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION REGARDING THIS VEHICLE, AND IT CAN ALSO BE FOLLOWED THROUGH THE CASE NUMBERS. PLEASE HELP US GET THIS CAR OFF THE ROAD!! MY HUSBAND IS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, HE IS A CHIEF OF POLICE, A SENIOR INSTRUCTOR, SPECIALIZED IN SPEED DETECTION AND DRIVER TRAINING, AND PURSUIT TACTICS TRAINING (PIT). THIS WAS PURCHASED AS A FAMILY TRAVEL VEHICLE, IT SHOULD NOT REQUIRE SOMEONE WITH SPECIALIZED DRIVER TRAINING TO HANDLE.
