VEHICLE HAS A PROBLEM WITH CAM PHASERS, CAM POSTITION SENSORS & STRETCH TIMING CHAIN
FORD MY KEY FUNCTION DISAPPEARED FROM SYSTEM. CAR COULD NOT GO OVER 80MPH.
PURCHASED IN AUG 2017, RECEIVED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION LETTER REGARDING CARBON MONOXIDE. TOOK LAST MONTH TO FORD DEALER FOR FIX AND THE EXHAUST FUMES ARE NOW WORSE. I HAVE TO DETECTORS IN THE CAR THAT BOTH ARE ALARMING AFTER DRIVING ONLY A FEW MINS, MY ENTIRE FAMILY HAS ONSET OF HEADACHE IF WE RIDE IN THE CAR, I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN ALL THE WINDOWS. FORD STATES THEY FIXED THE ISSUE BUT IT'S WORSE NOW TO ME. IT SMELLS LIKE A LAWN MOWER ON SIDE CABIN OF THE EXPLORER
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AND FINALLY HAD A CHANCE TO HAVE FORD TROUBLESHOOT THE CAUSE WHILE IN FOR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM RECALL, AS WELL AS HAVING TO REPLACE A FAILED BLENDDOOR MOTOR AND LOOK AT AN AUTOMATIC TAILGATE ISSUE. A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED THAT THE CAR HAD A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE REAR FACTORY WIRING HARNESS WITH THE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH REAR INFLATABLE SEAT BELTS. THE CAR HAS 61,000 MILES. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000. I BOUGHT IT CERTIFIED PRE OWNED BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE BUMPER TO BUMPER COVERAGE IS ONLY 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES AND I'VE HAD IT FOR 14 MONTHS. FORD INFORMED ME THAT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT WILL NOT SUBMIT A RECALL ON THIS KNOWN FAILED SRS COMPONENT DESIGN AND WILL COST ME OVER $550 TO FIX. THEY HAVE AN INTERNAL TECHNICAL BULLETIN WITH THE CORRECTIVE ACTION AS A NEW FACTORY DESIGNED WIRING HARNESS. I AM COMPLETELY AT A LOSS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND WELL KNOWN, YET FORD REFUSES TO RECALL.
AFTER SEVERAL LONG TRIPS WITH THE 2014 FORD EXPLORER SPORT, I HAVE HAD THE FEELING OF BEING ILL. SPECIFICALLY, HEADACHE, VERY WEAK, LIGHTHEADED AND NAUSEOUS. HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR.
AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON DUE TO FAULTY WIRING , COSTS 600 TO REPAIR . THIS IS SECOND FORD CAR WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. I WAS TOLD PROBLEM WAS IN BACK SEATS. NO ONE EVER USES BACK SEATS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE "POWER STEERING FAILED" WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED. DOAN FORD IN BELMONT, OHIO WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PENDING REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DURING COMMUTES TO AND FROM WORK, TYPICALLY WITH STOP-AND-GO CONDITIONS AT SLOW SPEED, I BECOME VERY SLEEPY AND INATTENTIVE, ALMOST TO THE POINT OF PASSING OUT. THIS HAPPENED RECENTLY AFTER HAVING THE CAR SERVICED FOR OIL CHANGE AND A STANDARD 15-POINT INSPECTION.
AFTER DRIVING AND VEHICLE IS TO RUNNING TEMPERATURE WHEN YOU STOP OR ARE IDLE SMELL OF EXHAUST TYPE FUMES ENTER CABIN OF CAR. HAVE BEEN TO DEALER TWICE AND NOT SURE PROBLEM IS FIXED. PROBLEM STARTED AT 38,000 MILES. CAN HARDLY BREATH WHEN OCCURS AND HAVE TO OPEN WINDOW. FEEL NEED TO REPORT BECAUSE CONCERNED FOR CO2 SAFETY. ORDERED CO2 SENSOR FOR CAR FOR SAFETY. PLEASE MAKE FORD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.
WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION,, ON HIGHWASY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR DASH BORAD LIGHT WENT COMPLETELY OUT FOR 15 OR 20 SECONDS. THIS EVEN HAPPENED THREE TIMES. ALL THREE TIMES CAR WAS ON HIGH WAY PERFORMING AT 70I;ES AN HOURS OR BETTER.
I KEEP GETTING WARNING LIGHT THAT, DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG FAULT ENGINE CODE P0073 AND VEHICLE OVER-SPEED CONDITION ENGINE CODE PO297. IT COME ON WHEN DRIVING.
"DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR" LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON EACH TIME I START THE CAR. I HAVE TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR TO GET IT TO TURN OFF. THAT OCCURRED FOR ONE MONTH. NOW THE LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF AND THE "TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN PARK" LIGHT TURNS ON WHILE I AM DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF WHEN I PARK THE CAR UNLESS I CONSTANTLY ADJUST THE LIGHT DIAL AND EVENTUALLY THE DOME LIGHT WILL GO OFF WHEN THE DOORS ARE LOCKED (30 MINUTES TO GET IT OFF THE OTHER NIGHT). REGARDING THE REAR TRANSMISSION NOISE. OVER 50 PERCENT OF THE TIME WHEN I AM BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, I HEAR A CLUNKING SOUND AS THOUGH I STRUCK AN OBJECT ONLY TO FIND THAT NOTHING IS BEHIND ME. FINALLY, WHEN I ENTER MY CAR AND START IT, I HEAR A LOUD POPPING SOUND IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD LIKE THE WINDSHIELD GLASS IS CRACKING. NO IDEA WHAT THAT MAY BE.
MY WIFE AND KIDS COMPLAIN OF HEADACHE'S AND NAUSEA AFTER PROLONGED TIME TRAVELING IN SAID VEHICLE. SMELL OF EXHAUST TYPE FUMES WITHIN THE CABIN AREA.
WHILE OPERATING MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER XLT, THE STEERING WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND WOULD SEIZE UP WHILE DRIVING AROUND TURNS. OTHER TIMES THE STEERING WHILE IS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN WHILE OPERATING AROUND TURNS ON BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAYS. I BELIEVE THE ISSUE IS WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING.
SUDDEN ONSET OF GRINDING NOISE. UPON EXAMINATION AND CONFIRMATION OF ENGINE OIL, COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVELS, DETERMINED THAT TRANSFER CASE/PTU WAS FAILING. CAUSED LOUD CLANKING AND GRINDING NOISES WHILE IN FORWARD GEARS WHICH WAS WORSENED WHEN TURNING. GEARBOX LOCKED UP WHILE IN TURN AND STOPPED VEHICLE IN ROADWAY WHILE CROSSING OPPOSITE TRAFFIC LANE. NO SIGNS OF FLUID LEAKS FROM TRANSFER CASE OR TRANSMISSION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED AN ABNORMAL EXHAUST ODOR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. HENRTRICH FORD LINCOLN (1427 BAY RD, MILFORD, DE) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS WHERE A CO2 SERVICE CAMPAIGN WAS PERFORMED AND THE CABIN AIR FILTER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000.
THE SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE VEHICLE WITH WINDOWS CLOSED UNDER MANY SPEEDS. THIS IS CAUSING HEADACHES AND DIZZINESS. INITIAL COMPLAINTS TO FORD DEALER LAST YEAR MENTIONED THERE WAS NO RECALL OR BULLETIN. LATER IN THE YEAR I RECEIVED A BULLETIN FOR REPAIR. THIS WAS COMPLETED YESTERDAY 1/24/18. WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR EXHAUSTE SMELL, BUT STILL HAVE MAJOR HEALTH CONCERNS.
EVERY TIME WE DRIVE OUR 2014 FORD EXPLORER AND TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER OR HEATER WE SMELL A ROTTEN EGG TYPE OF ODOR AND IT MAKES MY WIFE AND CHILD ALL NAUSEATED AND GIVES US HEADACHES SOMETIMES. MANY PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED IT TO US AS WELL WHEN THEY ARE DRIVING WITH US. IT HAPPENS WHEN WE ARE PARKED, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND JUST A CITY STREET.
VEHICLE REAR BRAKE PADS RELEASED FROM CALIPER, RESULTING IN UNCONTROLLABLE BREAKING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IF PARTS ARE CORRODING TO THE POINT WHERE BRAKE PADS FALL OUT (DEALERSHIP STATES THE BRAKE CLIPS THEMSELVES CORRODED), FORD SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR ALL EXPENSES TO DATE, AND REPLACE ALL VECHILES WITH THESE FAULTY PARTS UNDER A RECALL BEFORE TRAGEDY HAPPENS DUE TO IGNORANCE. BRAKING SYSTEMS IN VEHICLES SHOULD BE FIRST PRIORITY.
I HAVE A 2014 FORD EXPLORER OR DID !!!! ON 1-18-2018 I PASSED OUT BEFORE BEING INVOLVED IN VERY BAD ACCIDENT ! I WAS DRIVING TO WORK BRIGHT SUNNY DAY . PASSED OUT WENT THRU STOP SIGN A WORK TRUCK HIT MY SUV SPUN IT AROUND ! I RECALL NOTHING OTHER THAN DRIVING THEN WAKING UP TO MY GPS SAYING I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND IF I NEEDED 911. I DON'T DRINK DON'T DO DRUGS . 35 AND HEALTHY / MY CAR WENT TO THE FORD DEALER FOR THE RECALL ON THE C02 LEAKS AND DOOR PANEL . I MADE THE APPT A WEEK PRIOR THE END OF THE DAY NOTHING WAS REPAIRED THEY SENT ME THE RECALL LETTER AND FIXED NOTHING! THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHECK TO SEE IF MY VEHICLE WAS AT RISK ! I KNOW THERE ARE TIMES THEY CAN CHECK TO SEE IF MY CAR WAS IN FACT ONE THAT NEEDED ATTENTION! I FEEL NO ONE SHOULD BE DRIVING THESE VEHICLES ! THEY SHOULD GIVE FREE RENTALS . THESE CARS SHOULDN'T BE ON THE ROAD UNTIL REPAIRED IT'S NOT JUST POLICE VEHICLES ANYMORE 100'S OF CIVILIANS HAVE BEEN AFFECTED . MY CAR IS TOTALED ! I'M TOLD I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE . VEHICLE UNDER SRS WARRANTY, 5 YEAR -60,000 MILE WARRANTY AND AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES. TAKEN TO DEALER AND COMPLAINT WITH FORD. NOTIFIED IT IS A BAD CONNECTOR IN THE REAR SEAT TO INFLATABLE SEATBELT AIRBAGS. AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK UNLESS REPLACED. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A KNOWN FORD ISSUE WITH TSBS ISSUED AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE SRS SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD IS IGNORING.
WHEN PUTTING THE SHIFTER INTO PARK A WARNING LIGHT COMES ON THAT SAYS TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK. YOU NEED TO WIGGLE THE SHIFTER TO GET THE WARNING LIGHT TO GO AWAY AND ACTUALLY ENGAGE IN PARK. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER AND FOUND OUT THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY IS FAULTY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A $500 REPAIR ON A CAR THAT ONLY HAS 33000 MILES ON IT. I'M AFRAID IF I DON'T REPLACE IT I WILL BE STRANDED SOMEPLACE BECAUSE I WON'T BE ABLE TO START IT IF IT WON'T CONNECT WITH THE COMPUTER SAYING IT IS IN DRIVE. I FEEL THIS A FAULTY PART FROM FORD . THIS JUST SEEMS LIKE AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR A VEHICLE WITH SUCH FEW MILES ON IT. OF COURSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY.
THE POWER CONTROL LOCKS HAVE QUIT FUNCTIONING. IT STARTED WITH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR, AND 2 MONTHS LATER IT STARTED HAPPENING ON THE BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR AS WELL. THE KEY FOB DOES NOT WORK FOR UNLOCKING THE DOORS. THE DOOR LOCK ON THE DOOR PANEL DOES THAT LOCK/UNLOCK THE DOORS EITHER. YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK/UNLOCK THE DOORS BY HAND. THE ISSUE WITH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR STARTED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. THE ISSUE WITH THE BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO. BOTH ISSUES ARE STILL HAPPENING.
WHEN PLACED IN "PARK" IT DOESN'T REGISTER SOMETIMES. I HAVE TO FIDDLE WITH IT TO GET IT TO REGISTER THAT IT IS IN FACT IN PARK. OTHERWISE MY CAR BATTERY WILL DRAIN BECAUSE IT KEEPS THE POWER ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAM GALLOWAY FORD LINCOLN (800 BOY SCOUT DR, FORT MYERS, FL 33907, (888) 699-0916) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT AND HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER TSB NUMBER: 16-0001. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
ON DECEMBER 27, 2017 THE STEERING WHEEL ON MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED SEIZED. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE WHEEL IN ANY DIRECTION (EVEN BY FORCE). THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT WAS UNOCCUPIED. IT HAPPENED WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, PUT IT IN GEAR, AND COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL IN ANY DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 2/11/14 AND HAD 34,872 MILES. MY LOCAL DEALER ADVISED IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS LISTED. I FOUND PRIOR FORD RECALLS FOR MULTIPLE MAKES/MODELS AND SPECIFICALLY FOR EXPLORER MODEL YEARS '11 THROUGH '13 DEALING WITH STEERING ISSUES PERTAINING TO ELECTRONIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING [EPAS] FAILURES. [RECALL 14V286000 AND/OR 17S23] ATTACHED IS THE REPAIR BILL FOR $2,180.67 [NOTE THE TOWING SERVICE]. I HAD TO HAVE THE ELECTRIC RACK & PINION ASSEMBLY REPLACED. THE PART ALONE, EXCLUDING LABOR WAS $1,120.58. ON JANUARY 2, 2018 I PHONED FORD AT 800-392-FORD AND SPOKE WITH KIMBERLY. I WAS PROVIDED WITH REFERENCE # CAS1328239. AGAIN, I WAS ADVISED THERE IS NO RECALL ISSUED AND WAS TOLD TO HOLD ON TO MY RECEIPT SHOULD THERE EVER BE A RECALL. IN MY OPINION, THIS SHOULD NEVER HAD HAPPENED. I AM THANKFUL I WASN'T DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING INTO THE MATTER,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED PRIOR TO BEING SERVICED AT RICART AUTOMOTIVE GROUP (4255 S HAMILTON RD, GROVEPORT, OH). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,977.
I DRIVE MY FORD EXPLORER ALMOST EVERY DAY AND I WAS BECOMING PROGRESSIVELY FATIGUED AND DIZZY ( LOSS OF NORMAL BALANCE). I COULD NOT PIN PONT THE PROBLEM AREA UNTIL I RECEIVED AN "URGENT RECALL NOTICE" FROM OUR REGULAR FORD DEALERSHIP IN BELVIDERE, ILLINOIS. MY DOCTOR ORDERED A SPECIAL BLOOD TEST WHICH CONFIRMED A HIGH LEVEL OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN MY BLOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT I STILL HAVE SOME AMOUNT OF THE HEALTH PROBLEMS. THANKS, JIM
A NOXIOUS ODOR RESEMBLING EXHAUST FILLS THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY, BUT NOT CONTINUOUSLY ON EVERY DRIVE. THE ODOR IS MORE NOTICEABLE AT IDLE OR STOP. THE ODOR SEEMS TO COME FROM THE HEATER/AC VENTS WHILE THEY ARE BLOWING AIR. THE PROBLEM HAS ONLY BEEN NOTED WITH THE HEATER OR AIR VENTS BLOWING AS AC HAS NOT BEEN USED THIS TIME OF SEASON. ON OCCASION, WE HAVE FELT ILL AFTER DRIVING (2 ADULTS IN THEIR MID 40'S, 2 CHILDREN AGES 6 AND 10). THE LOCAL FORD DEALER HAS PERFORMED THE 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION/RECALL' WORK ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH NO IMPROVEMENT IN SYMPTOMS. THEY HAVE EXAMINED THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE A CAUSE OR SOURCE OF THE SMELL. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED USED 1.5 YEARS AGO FROM DEALER (NOT CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED). THE PROBLEM WITH THE EXHAUST ODOR WAS NOT NOTED UNTIL A FEW MONTHS AGO, BUT DEVELOPED SUDDENLY. ASIDE FROM THIS ISSUE, THE CAR HAS NOT HAD ANY MAJOR MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL ISSUES SINCE WE HAVE OWNED IT.
FOR A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF THE VEHICLE'S LIFE, THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED A MAJORITY OF THE TIME. I DID NOT BELIEVE THIS WAS AN ISSUE AS I WAS INSTRUCTED THAT A LIGHT WOULD COME ON IF THE VEHICLE THOUGHT SOMETHING/SOMEONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, BUT DID NOT MEET MINIMUM WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS IN FOR A NON-RELATED REPAIR, THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE AND THAT THE LIGHT ACTUALLY INDICATES A FAULT WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. SO I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AROUND FOR PROBABLY 40,000 MILES WITH FAULTY AIRBAGS IN THE CAR IN WHICH I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I CALLED FORD WHO EXPRESSED LITTLE TO ZERO CONCERN UNTIL I LET THEM KNOW I WOULD BE FILING A COMPLAINT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE ISSUE IS THAT THE CONNECTORS ARE CORRODED (THE INDICATION WAS MULTIPLE CONNECTORS ARE CORRODED). THIS SEEMS LIKE A REALLY BIG ISSUE - I LIVE IN OREGON, SO NOT QUITE A DRY CLIMATE, BUT IT'S NOT ABNORMAL. THE PERSON I SPOKE TO AT FORD WAS NAMED "ANN"
FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN SUFFERING FROM DIZZINESS SPELLS THAT HAPPEN QUITE OFTEN, NAUSEA , HEADACHES, BLURRED VISION, AND ANXIETY THAT IS BROUGHT ON FROM THESE SYMPTOMS. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DOCTOR COUNTLESS TIMES ATTEMPTING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM OF THE CAUSE OF MY SICKNESS. BEFORE I FOLLOWED UP ON THE RECALL I WASN'T AWARE THAT MY CAR WAS BEING RECALLED FOR CARBON MONOXIDE CONCERNS. BUT IT ALL MAKES SENSE THE MAJORITY OF TIME I FEEL THESE SYMPTOMS IS EITHER WHEN I'M DRIVING OR HAVE FINISHED DRIVING. (NEXT DR'S VISIT I WILL REQUEST THEY DO LAB WORK FOR POTENTIAL CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.) OF COURSE ALL THE SYMPTOMS LINGER BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY IT STAYS IN MY SYSTEM. I FEEL LIKE MY CAR IS MAKING ME REALLY SICK. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR THAT I HAVE HAD FOR 2 YEARS.

THE TEST LOCATED FAILURE CODES AT THE REAR PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR AND THE REAR DRIVER'S AIR BAG SENSORS WIRING SYSTEM. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT, IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE REAR PASSENGER AND REAR DRIVER'S AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER AND REAR DRIVER'S AIR BAG SENSORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE 18-MONTH OLD CHILD, WHO WAS IN A SAFETY SEAT ON THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT, BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CONTACT CALLED 911. THE CHILD WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WHERE THE DOCTOR RAN SEVERAL TESTS, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHILD. THE CHILD RECOVERED AND WAS RELEASED FROM THE EMERGENCY ROOM. THE CHILD WAS TAKEN BACK INTO THE VEHICLE AND, FIVE MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE BACK TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CHILD BECAME RESPONSIVE WHEN THE CONTACT ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW. THE CHILD WAS TAKEN TO THE PEDIATRICIAN WHO RULED OUT THAT THE CHILD MIGHT HAVE SUFFERED A SEIZURE. BOTH THE MOTHER AND THE PEDIATRICIAN SUSPECTED THAT THE CHILD MIGHT HAVE SUFFERED FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE DEALER WAS CALLED (FESLER AUTO MALL IN FAIRFIELD, IOWA, 641-472-2161), BUT DID NOT CALL BACK AS PROMISED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE NOT WORKING AT ALL CAUSING THE WINDOW ON THAT SIDE TO NOT BE ABLE TO BE SEEN OUT OF WHEN DRIVING THE CAR IN THE COLD. ONLY PUT COLD AIR OUT ON THAT SIDE. SPOKE TO SOMEONE AT FORD AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM JUST NOT IN MY CAR YET.
SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING HOME, AS I WAS REACHING A MAJOR ROAD, I FELT MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY START TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND MAKE A LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED TO LOSE SPEED AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN THE HAZARDS ON. THIS WAS VERY SCARY BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY VEHICLE OF MINE BEHAVE THIS WAY. I LITERALLY THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO GRAB MY 3 YEAR OLD AND RUN FOR MY LIFE. I THOUGHT IT COULD EXPLODE OR CATCH FIRE OR WHO KNOWS. AT THIS POINT I JUST FELT FEAR. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF SOMEONE BEHIND ME WOULD'VE REAR ENDED ME. AGAIN, MY CAR STOPPED MOVING FOR NO REASON. THIS COULD POSE A MAJOR THREAT AND I WOULD RECOMMEND ACTIONS BE TAKEN TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I LEARNED ABOUT MANY OTHER FORD DRIVERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR SITUATIONS INVOLVING THE THROTTLE BODY COMPONENT. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THIS COULD BE A COLLECTIVE PROBLEM. I HOPE FORD WILL TAKE MY CONCERNS INTO CONSIDERATION TO PREVENT ANY FUTURE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. THANK YOU.
THE OPEN DOOR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN AFTER SLAMMING THE DRIVE DOOR SHUT. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WITH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR.
OUR VEHICLE CONTAINS A COMMON BACKUP SENSOR WHICH BEEPS WHEN IT DETECTS SOMEONE BEHIND THE VEHICLE. THE SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK APPROXIMATELY 5% OF THE TIME. MY OWN BROTHER HAS THE SAME YEAR FORD EXPLORER AND HE SAYS THAT HE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. SEVERAL TIMES WE ALMOST STRUCK SOMEONE, INCLUDING A SMALL CHILD, BECAUSE THE SENSOR DID NOT GO OFF. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO THEY COULDN'T FIX IT. THAT'S RIDICULOUS. DOES SOMEONE NEED TO DIE FOR THEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM.
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS BOTH ME AND MY WIFE HAVE NOTICED A WEIRD SMELL COMING FROM THE 2014 FORD EXPLORER THAT WE HAVE. ALSO ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY WIFE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT FEELING DIZZY AND NAUSEOUS FROM DRIVING BUT WE THOUGHT IT WAS NOTHING SERIOUS. THEN ABOUT A WEEK AGO AFTER DRIVING THE EXPLORER HOME FROM WORK MY WIFE BEGAN TO FEEL LIGHTHEADED, NAUSEOUS AND ALMOST PASSED OUT WHILE DRIVING WITH OUR 4 YOUNG KIDS IN THE CAR. WE ENDED UP RUSHING HER TO THE HOSPITAL TO SEE WHAT HE PROBLEM WAS, WHICH WAS THE SAME DAY THAT WE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD ABOUT CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING THAT WAS HAPPENING IN ALL 2011-2017 FORD EXPLORER MODELS. SO WHILE SHE WAS IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM WE HAD HER BLOOD AND OXYGEN LEVELS CHECKED FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING ESPECIALLY BECAUSE MY WIFE IS STILL BREASTFEEDING OUR 10 MONTHS OLD DAUGHTER. I HAVE RECENTLY TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE BUT MY REAL CONCERN IS WITH THIS ISSUE AFFECTING MILLIONS OF VEHICLES AND PEOPLE, WHAT IS THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. WE PLAN TO FOLLOW UP WITH OUR PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN TO ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF CARBON MONOXIDE BEING DETECTED WITHIN ANYONE IN MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY AS WE DRIVE THE 2014 FORD EXPLORER DAILY. WHEN VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO PARK, VERY FREQUENTLY THE DISPLAY SHOWS "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK". THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY SWITCH INSIDE OF THE SHIFTER. THIS MESSAGE CAN APPEAR WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND STATIONARY AS WELL. SOME VEHICLE SYSTEMS STAY ACTIVE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT RECOGNIZED AS BEING IN PARK.
THE DASH READS TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK WHILE THE SHIFTER IS IN PARK POSITION. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE ISSUE DUE TO THE VEHICLE WARRANTY BEING EXPIRED. TSB 15-0047
BOUGHT USED, WHEN I GOT IT WITH ONLY 54000 MILES, ONE SEAT BELT WOULD GO INTO THE RECEIVER BUT NOT CLIP IN OR STAY IN. A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT IT THE SEAT BELT ON THE OTHER BUCKET SEAT ALL OF A SUDDEN JAMMED AND THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT GO IN AT ALL... COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF THEY HAD FAILED WHILE DRIVING.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY APPROX 65 MPH IN RAIN. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING, MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD INDICATING CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM, THEN HILL ASSIST FAILURE, THEN WARNING MESSAGE THAT ALL ACCESSORY POWER WAS DISABLED TO CONSERVE POWER. THEN ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD LIT UP. LOSS OF POWER STEERING IN RAIN ON HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSED VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL AND BE INVOLVED IN MULTIPLE CAR ACCIDENT. SERPENTINE BELT WAS FOUND TO BE IN PROPER CONDITION, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME ALTERNATE ROUTE ALONG 35MPH ROADS. NO FURTHER PROBLEMS ASIDE FROM OCCASIONAL SQUEAK UNDER ACCELERATION. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED UP WITH SERVICE CALL, SERPENTINE BELL WAS IN GOOD CONDITION, BUT BELT TENSIONER SPRING HAD FAILED. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 57,000 MILES. SEEMS EXCESSIVELY EARLY FOR THIS TYPE OF PART TO FAIL.

I REFUSE TO SPEND 100S OF DOLLARS REPLACING THESE PILLAR TRIMS BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS FALL OFF. IF YOU GO ONLINE YOU SEE 100S OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE I HAVE EXPERIENCED.
