WHILE DRIVING INTERMITTENT CARBON MONOXIDE / EXHAUST IN CABIN. HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIME IN THE PAST 3 YEARS. SMELLED LIKE MY AIR CONDITIONER WAS SUCKING UP EXHAUST FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. BUT SOMETIMES NO VEHICLES WERE NEAR.
I GET VERY NAUSEOUS AND HEAD ACHES WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE. SOME TIMES BLURRED VISION AND A FEELING OF SLOWED REACTION. I HAVE HAD AN INSTANCE WHERE I BLACKED OUT WHILE DRIVING FOR A FEW SECONDS, TO BE AWAKENED WHEN MY VEHICLE RAN ACROSS GRAVELS BEFORE ENTERING A YARD. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE INTERSTATE WHERE I WAS DOING AROUND 70 MPH AND ABOUT 1/2 MILE AFTER THE TOP OF THE OFF RAMP I BLACKED OUT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED, I CAME TO IN TIME TO PULL THE WHEEL TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT BUT WAS PERFECTLY FINE RIGHT BEFORE I BLACKED OUT. I WASN'T TIRED BEFORE THIS. WHEN I DRIVE OUR 2017 FORD F-350 I DO NOT HAVE THESE SYMPTOMS. THEY SEEM TO GO AWAY. OR IF I RIDE IN MY EXPLORER WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN I SEEM TO FEEL BETTER. AFTER MY RIDE HOME FROM WORK IF I RUN THE AIR AND HAVE MY WINDOWS UP I AM SO TIRED BY THE TIME I GET HOME THAT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING BESIDES LAY ON THE COUCH AND SLEEP. WHICH IS NOT ME- I HAVE NO HEALTH ISSUES AND AM VERY ACTIVE IF I DO NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.
THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE CRACKED EXHAUST, MANIFOLD/CARALYTIC CONVERTER ASMY. I WAS TOLD THAT IF THIS WAS NOT CORRECTED FUMES COULD GET INTO THE CAR. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM FORD IS HAVING WITH THE POLICE EXPLORERS. I HAVE HEARD THAT FORD IS PAYING TO HAVE THESE REPAIR. I WROTE TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THIS. FORD STATES "THER ARE NO WARRANTIES IN EFFECT THAT WOULD PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR YOUR CONCERN" (MARSHA BOYD).. WHY ARE THE POLICE VEHICLES BEING REPAIR?
WHEN ACCELERATING WHEN TRYING TO PASS, OR JUST SPEEDING UP, CAR IS TAKEN OVER WITH A ROTTEN EGG SMELL, WAS TOLD IT WAS A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK!!
CARBON MINOXIDE ENTERING THE CABIN. EXHAUST FUMES ARE ENTERING THE CABIN.
THE POWER STEERING IS FAILING. THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED.
STEERING FAULT ASSIST AND GEAR ASSEMBLY WENT OUT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR EARLIER MODELS, I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE EXTENDED IT FOR LATER MODELS AS WELL. THE REPAIR COST WAS $1652.00 PLUS TOWING, HOTEL STAY AND RENTAL CAR FEES WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED. FORD SENT A DEFECTIVE PART TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD MY VEHICLE REPAIRED AND WILL NOT PAY FOR THE EXTRA DAYS I WAS WITHOUT A CAR AND RENTAL FEES.
MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER HAS NOT BEEN MOTIFIED AND HAS HAD STRONG EXHAUST INSIDE THE CAR CONFIRMED BY A FORD DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE JUNE. THE FIRST REPAIR MADE BY FORD TO "PLUG" THE PROBLEM MADE IT WORSE. THEY ARE NOT TESTING FOR LEAKS OR CARBON MONOXIDE. THE ARE REFERENCING THIS AS AN ODOR. GIVEN THE RISKS HOW CAN IT BE RULED OUT IF THEY ARE NOT TESTING FOR THEM? I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT FORD'S PRIORITY IS TO PROTECT ITSELF AT THE COST OF OUR FAMILY AND THE PEOPLE ON THE ROAD. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR SOMETIME EVEN WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY COOLING DOWN PRIOR TO ANY MOTION. I DO BELIEVE WE HAVE DIRECTLY BEEN SICKENED BY THIS AND AM INSTALLING A DETECTOR INTO OUR CAR AND WILL BE HAVING BLOOD WORK ANYTIME IT GOES OFF. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED MY DOCTOR TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING ON OUR LABS TO CONFIRM THE CONCERNS. WE WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE CONCERN BY FORD OR THE FACT THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS SINCE 2012. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE BACK-UP CAME REVERSE AND EVERYTHING LOCATED IN THE LEFT OF THE CAR APPEARED ON THE RIGHT. THIS WAS CONFIRMED IN JUNE AND THE CAMERA WAS REPLACED. THE OBVIOUS SAFETY WITH THIS SITUATION WAS NOT MADE PUBLIC OR INVESTIGATED TO MY KNOWLEDGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE CABIN BEGAN TO FILL WITH A FUEL ODOR. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO LOWER THE WINDOWS IN ORDER FOR THE ODOR TO DISSIPATE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,200.
I PURCHASED MY USED 2014 EXPLORER A FEW DAYS AGO. I DROVE IT FROM GAINSVILLE GA TO MY HOME IN FLORIDA AND HAD A HEADACHE UPON ARRIVAL AT MY HOME. WHEN I DRIVE MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING MY CAR I GET HEADACHES. I CAN SMELL EXHAUST IN IT CERTAIN TIMES. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT.
A HEAVY PROPANE SMELL HAPPENS IN MY CAR WHEN I HAVE THE MAX AC AND REC AIR ON.. I JUST GOT THIE CAR 5 MONTHS AGO.. I CALLED FORD THEY SAID "SORRY " THIS IS NOT A RECALL .. AND WE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE EVEN WHEN I RESEARCHED AND IT IS A ISSUE.. THEY TOLE ME IT WOULD COST ME TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND COST FOR ANY PARTS NEEDED..
MULTIPLE SENSOR FAILURES WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN PARK. CLIMATE CONTROL SENSOR FAILED, RESULTING IN TEMPERATURES BEING INCREASED TO THE MAXIMUM HEAT. THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID SENSOR FAILED AND DID NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THERE WAS FLUID IN THE RECEPTACLE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION. SENSOR ON DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL FAILED AND WAS BLOWING HOT AIR AT THE PASSENGER AND COLD AIR AT THE DRIVER. THIS HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION.
FIRST LONG TRIP IN MY SUV. MOST OF MY DRIVING IS CITY DRIVING TO AND FROM WORK. WHILE TRAVELING WITH THE FAMILY ON OUR VACATION, WE ALL NOTICED AFTER ACCELERATION (PASSING CARS OR UP INCLINES) THE CAR SMELLED LIKE SULFUR OR A WASTE TREATMENT PLANT (OTHER CLEVER WORDS USED BY MY DAUGHTERS). THIS WAS ALL HIGHWAY (TWO LANE UP TO FOUR LANE) TRAVEL. APPROXIMATELY 600 MILES EACH WAY. WITH THE FREQUENCY OF THE PROBLEM ON THIS TRIP, I REALIZED I'VE SMELLED IT BEFORE BUT JUST ASSUMED I WAS DRIVING PAST A SEWAGE PROBLEM OR TREATMENT FACILITY. I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR THAT WOULD CAUSE A SMELL LIKE THAT. UPON GOOGLING WHAT MIGHT CAUSE THE PROBLEM, I FOUND A LOT OF INFO ON THE ISSUE, INCLUDING A FORD SERVICE BULLETIN (ATTACHED), LAWSUITS AND YOUR ORGANIZATION'S INVESTIGATION OF THE ISSUE. BASED ON WHAT I READ, I FELT I SHOULD LET YOU KNOW I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I'VE CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FROM WHOM I BOUGHT THE CAR AND WHO SERVICES THE CAR AND THEY EVENTUALLY FOUND A BULLETIN THAT COVERS THE ISSUE BUT BECAUSE MY CAR IS RECENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY, SAID I NEED TO PAY FOR THE INVESTIGATION AND POSSIBLE FIX(ES). I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT EITHER AND AM NOW CONCERNED WHETHER THERE IS ACTUALLY A FIX. GIVEN THE KNOWLEDGE FORD HAS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I WOULD EXPECT FORD TO FIX THIS AT THEIR COST . . . ASSUMING THERE IS A FIX. I'M GOING TO FOLLOW THIS WITH A CALL TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO MAKE THEM AWARE.
UPON ACCELERATION IN PASSING GEAR THERE'S A FOUL ODOR COMING THRU THE AIR VENTS. IT SMELLS LIKE AN OVER HEATED HAIR DRYER. IT'S BAD ENOUGH THAT THE WINDOWS NEED TO BE OPENED TO LET THE ODOR OUT. MY SUV IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE 2ND TIME IN A YEAR WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. TODAY'S DATE IS 07/02/2018
THE CAR IS LITTLE UNDER THREE YEARS OLD AND THE DOOR PANEL IS COMING APART AROUND THE WINDOW. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE SMELL OF CARBON DIOXIDE WHEN I ACCELERATE. AND ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE HOOD IS SHOWING RUST SPOT (SHOWING OXIDIZATION)
ON 7 AND 14 JULY I EXPERIENCED A SULFUR ODOR IN MY CABIN AND FELT LIGHT HEADED. FORD HAS STILL NOT FIXED THIS ISSUE AFTER AT LEAST 6 COMPLAINTS. SULFUR ODOR SAYS IT IS AN EXHAUST LEAK PRIOR TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, GETTING INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN. PLEASE HELP BEFORE IT KILLS ME!
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAVE BEEN COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE PROBLEM AND FORD HAD BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. ON NOVEMBER 27, 2017, A FORD DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED THAT THE CAR HAD A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE. THE CAR HAS 60,472 MILES. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000. FORD HAS NOT OFFERED TO EXTEND ANY SORT OF WARRANTY RELIEF EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS 472 MILES OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. MY HUSBAND WAS IN A FRONT-END COLLISION IN JULY 2017. ALTHOUGH THE CAR THAT HE HIT WAS TOTALLED, THE AIRBAGS IN OUR FORD DID NOT DEPLOY, A FACT THAT SHOCKED MANY PEOPLE CONSIDERING THE DAMAGE TO THE OTHER CAR. I AM SHOCKED THAT WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE FORD DEALERSHIP AFTER THE ACCIDENT THAT THEY DID NOT WORK TO EXPLAIN THE AIRBAG FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE WAS A LOUD ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE REAR LOCKED UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FISHTAIL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT REGAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BILL BROWN FORD (32222 PLYMOUTH RD, LIVONIA, MI 48150) WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V435000 (SUSPENSION) FOR THE REAR TOE LINK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NEW RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECENTLY THE STEERING WHEEL AND REAR WHEELS WOULD LOCK UP AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER BUT WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
EXHAUST ODOR UNDER ACCELERATION, REGULARLY
THE FORD EXPLORER 2014 HAS A DEFECT IN WHICH THE "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT " SIGNAL/MESSAGE WOULD RANDOMLY APPEAR AND PRACTICALLY IMMOBILIZE THE CAR. ONCE THE SIGNAL WAS PRESENT, THE VEHICLE WOULD SLOW DOWN TO A 5-10 MPH MODE. IT WOULD EVENTUALLY RESET ITSELF AFTER 24 HOURS OR SO. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IF THIS WERE TO TAKE PLACE IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION OR A HIGHWAY, AN ACCIDENT WOULD CERTAINLY ENSUE. I EXPERIENCED THIS MALFUNCTION TWICE; ONCE IN FEBRUARY OF 2017 AND THEN AGAIN ON JULY 3, 2017. IN BOTH INSTANCES, I WAS IN MOTION. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT TOO FAR FROM MY RESIDENCE AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY TURN ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS SO THAT OTHERS IN TRAFFIC WOULD BE ABLE TO AVOID HITTING ME BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN DECLINE IN SPEED.

GIBBONS BLVD, DICKSON CITY, PA 18519, (570) 489-4747, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO STONE CHIPS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT COLLISION CENTER BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
WE HAVE OWNED THIS EXPLORER FOR 2 MONTHS WITH 44,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE STEERING STARTED GRINDING AND LOCKING UP . THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND OTHER PRIOR YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. DEALER WANTS $1500 TO FIX IT. THIS CAR WAS MUCH TOO EXPENSIVE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH THESE LOW MILES. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS AND FIX OUR VEHICLE FOR US . WE ASKED THE DEALER TO PAY FOR THIS BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY WORD THAT THEY WILL. MANY OTHERS ARE THIS WEBSITE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE SO IT IS OBVIOUSLY A LARGE PROBLEM WITH OTHER EXPLORERS. PLEASE HELP!!
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND WARNING STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT. THIS MAKES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH CAUSES A PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. IT ALSO PREVENTS YOU FROM LOCKING THE DOORS WHEN INSIDE AND BECAUSE THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON IT DRAINS THE BATTERY. FROM WHAT I'VE RESEARCHED ONLINE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG FORD VEHICLES AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
VERY BAD EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CAB OF 2014 FORD EXPLORER XLT DURING ACCELERATION.
PURCHASED A 2014 FORD EXPLORER IN FEBRUARY 2014, AND WITHIN WEEKS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE I STARTED TO NOTICE A FOUL SMELL ENTERING THE CABIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER ACCELERATION. IF ACCELERATION OCCURS QUICKLY, WITH A HIGHER THEN NORMAL RPM OCCURRING, THE SMELL BECOMES WORSE. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MAC HAIK FORD IN HOUSTON FOR REPAIR. THE FIRST TWO VISITS WERE WERE NON-PRODUCTIVE, AS THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. ON THE THIRD VISIT, I ASKED THAT THEY TECHNICIAN GO ON A TEST DRIVE WITH ME IN THE CAR. THIS VISIT FINALLY RESULTED IN AN ADMISSION FROM THE TECHNICIAN THAT HE COULD ALSO SMELL THE ODOR, AND THEY AGREED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE AND IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE. AFTER A FEW DAYS, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN CORRECTED BY ADDING AN ADDITIONAL VENT LINE TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WITHIN HOURS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE BACK, IT HAD BECOME OBVIOUS THAT A PERMANENT FIX WAS NOT INSTALLED, AND THE ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR REGULARLY OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS.
STEERING GEAR BOX WENT OUT OF MY VEHICLE WITH ONLY 29,000 MILES ON IT, HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE GEAR. I ONLY DRIVE 600 MILES OR LESS A MONTH I SPLIT MY TIME BETWEEN 2 VEHICLES. JUST BOUGHT A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED
HAD BAD SMELL IN EXPLORER WHILE DRIVING TO VACATION DESTINATION. HAD NOT NOTICED THIS PREVIOUSLY BUT SINCE THEN HAVE NOTICED IT SEVERAL TIMES. I NEED TO DRIVE WITH WINDOWS OPEN OR CANNOT STAND THE SMELL. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY ON DRIVING HIGHWAYS
WINDSHIELD TRIM PIECES HAVE BLOWN OFF MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAD TO BE REATTACHED BY BODY SHOP. LOCATED TRIM PIECE ON SIDE OF HIGHWAY. LIKELY PUT DRIVERS IN REAR IN DANGER DUE TO FLYING DEBRIS. NO WARNING WAS GIVEN OF THE FAULTY PIECES COMING FREE FROM THE SUV.
ON 19 JUNE, 2017 I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER ON I-95 SOUTH, I INITIALLY HEARD A SINGLE POP COME FROM THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE, I THOUGHT I HAD HIT SOMETHING IN THE ROAD, BUT NOTHING WAS VISIBLE IN THE ROAD, SO I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE WITH NO PROBLEMS. ON 20 JUNE, I WAS DRIVING AGAIN ON I-95 NORTH BOUND AND MY STEERING SYSTEM BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION WITH A LITTLE TIGHTNESS IN THE STEERING, THE VEHICLE STILL EASILY TURNED LEFT AND RIGHT. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH NO PROBLEMS, SUDDENLY A WARNING FLASHED AND SHOWED A STABILITY WARNING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT CONTROL MY VEHICLE AT ALL. I WAS NEARLY KILLED ALONG WITH SIX MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY WHEN MY VEHICLE STEERING MALFUNCTIONED (FROZE/LOCKED) AND TWO TRACTOR TRAILERS SWERVED TO KEEP FROM HITTING MY VEHICLE. I COULD NO LONGER CONTROL MY VEHICLE STEERING. MY VEHICLE HAS 68,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED WITH NO KNOWN ISSUES.
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK HAS FAILED ON OUR VEHICLE. THIS I HAVE SEEN IS A PROBLEM FORD HAS HAD IN THE PAST AND HAS STILL NOT REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. THE OUT OF POCKET COSTS ARE $2500.00 . THE STEERING IS UNSAFE AND IS ALLOVER THE ROAD. FURTHER TO THIS THE POWER SEAT MOTOR FAILED AND THEY WANT $2500 TO REPAIR IT . THIS I FEEL IS VERY UNFAIR AND GOUGING.
EXHAUST FUMES ODOR WHILE DRIVING IS CAUSING NAUSEA AND HEADACHES TO ME AND MY WIFE MAKING IT UNBEARABLE AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT STARTED OUT ONLY WHEN WE WOULD TURN ON A/C BUT NOW ITS ALL THE TIME.

THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME IN 2014. IN (ROUGHLY) EARLY 2017, MY WIFE--THE PRIMARY DRIVER--COMPLAINED ABOUT EXHAUST ODOR INSIDE THE CAR, ESPECIALLY AT IDLE. IN MAY SHE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY EXPLAINED THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT FORD HAD NOT YET COMMITTED TO DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY ALSO CONFIRMED THEY NOTICED THE SMELL AS WELL. WE ELECTED TO GET THE PRESCRIBED REPAIR DONE FEARING FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR FAMILY. THAT WORK, DONE IN JUNE, COST $594.31.
SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES PRESENT IN THE CABIN. ALL PASSENGERS COMPLAIN OF HEADACHES, DIZZYNESS, NAUSEA, AND LETHARGY. THIS OCCURS AFTER DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS UP. SECOND OWNER OF VEHICLE. PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE AT LEAST JUNE 7TH.

BASICALLY I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE EXHAUST. AT DIFFERENT TIMES I HAVE A STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN THE VEHICLE I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY PROGRAMMED IT TO BLOW OUTSIDE AIR BUT I CAN STILL SMELL THE FUMES

EXHAUST/GAS SMELL LEAKING INTO PASSAGER CABIN WHEN AIR FLOW TURNED ON. ALSO ABLE TO BE SMELT OUTSIDE OF CAR
A INTERNAL FAULT IN EAPS STEERING RACK, FAULT CODE 58530. FORD HAD RECALL ON 2013 MODELS, MINE WAS SHIPPED TO DEALER JAN. 2014. STILL HAD SAME ISSUE AS 2013. HAS TO MORE OF THEM OUT THERE. DEALER DID NOT INFORM OF 2013 RECALL AT TIME OF REPAIR. STEERING WAS NOT OK WHEN TURNING LEFT MADE NOISE AND VIBRATED.
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, IN A TURN, THE STEERING ASSIST HAD A FAULT. A MESSAGE SHOWED ON THE SCREEN STATING THAT THERE WAS A STEERING ASSIST FAULT. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, THE ISSUE DID NOT GO AWAY. STEERING THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS FIGHTING AGAINST ME (RATHER THAN SIMPLY A POWER STEERING LOSS). I WAS TOLD BY A DEALERSHIP MECHANIC THAT THE PROBLEM WAS UNKNOWN BUT SOMEWHERE IN THE STEERING COLUMN SO REPLACING THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WOULD FIX IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK PAIN, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY REPAIR SHOP AND WAS DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD REVIEW THE CASE AND GET BACK TO THE HER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
MY VEHICLE HAS 69K MILES WITH ONLY FREEWAY DRIVING AND THE STRUTS AND BEARINGS ALREADY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE COST IS $900 AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE BEARINGS ARE WORN OUT CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE STRUTS. ANYTIME I WOULD DRIVE AT LOW SPEEDS YOU COULD HEAR A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND. MY NISSAN IS 12 YEARS OLD AND IT JUST NOW NEEDED SIMILAR MAINTENANCE. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS QUALITY.
COMING OUT OF A CAR WASH AT IDLE SPEED AND MOVING INTO THE VACUUM AREA THE BRAKE PEDAL STOPPED RESPONDING, I AM A NOTORIOUS BRAKE RIDER, THE CAR KEPT ROLLING AND ACTUALLY HIT THE VACUUM, ROLLED ON OVER A HILL AND DOWN INTO AN ADJACENT PARKING LOT WHERE THE BRAKES FINALLY TOOK HOLD. AS THE EXPLORER WENT OVER THE HILL I KEPT POUNDING THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR ROLLED DOWN THE PARKING AREA AND THEN IT STOPPED. DAMAGE WAS TO THE RIGHT CORNER OF THE VEHICLE AND A VACUUM LAYING ON ITS SIDE. ACCORDING TO THE STATION ATTENDANT THIS WAS NOT AN UNUSUAL EVENT.
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS FOR THREE YEARS WITH CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR EVERY TIME YOU EXCELLERATE. IT CAUSES HEADACHES AND NAUSEA. THEY HAVE MADE ATTEMPTS IN MAY OF THIS YEAR TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY COULD NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID OF HAVING A WRECK AND I AM NOW BECOMING AFRAID OF DRIVING THE CAR ANYWHERE EXCEPT ON STRAIGHT ROADS. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE THE LAST TWO YEARS, BUT IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I FIRST STARTED DRIVING THE CAR.

OUR 2014 FORD EXPLORER SPORT HAS SUDDENLY LOST ITS POWER STEERING MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AND HAS A TENDENCY TO JERK THE WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT WHEN DRIVING. THIS I'M TOLD IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1800 TO FIX. I BELIEVE THE THREE YEARS PRIOR TO MINE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND WERE RECALLED. THE EXPLORER HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND HAS 73K MILES. THE AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO CAME ON WHEN THE STEERING ISSUE STARTED HOWEVER THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT IT WAS UNRELATED AND THAT WOULD BE ANOTHER EXPENSE AFTER THE STEERING WAS REPAIRED.
DURING ACCELERATION, THERE IS A BURNT/EXHAUST ODOR ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO MY FORD DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM EVEN WHEN THEY FOLLOW THE TSB. IT IS MAKES FEEL ME ILL AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CABIN. WHEN QUICKLY ACCELERATING THE SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES FILLS THE CABIN. I'M NOT SURE IF THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH EXHAUST MANIFOLD OR HEADERS BUT I WOULD IMAGINE THE PROBLEM IS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SINCE THE SMELLS COMES THROUGH THE A/C VENTS. THIS HAS ME AND MY FAMILY WORRIED OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-12267703. THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO ASSIST THE CONTACT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE OF THE 36 MONTH OR 36,000 MILE WARRANTY.
