FUMES IN THE CAR AND EVEN AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IT STILL HAS NOT FIXXED THE ISSUE THEY HAVE PUT NEW REAR VENTS IN AND ADDED MORE UNDER COATING
10 YEAR OLD SON IN HOSPITAL WITH ELEVATED LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE. BLOOD WORK SHOWED A LEVEL OF 2. THIS WAS AFTER TRAVELING FOR 1 HOUR IN THE THIRD ROW SEAT OF THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT SMELLED A FUEL ODOR THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER OR HEATER WAS ACTIVATED, THE FUEL ODOR INTENSIFIED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE RESULTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,800.
THE ELECTRIC MOONROOF STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD NOT OPEN. THE SUN SHADE WOULD PARTIALLY CLOSE. WE CHANGED THE FUSE BUT THE MOONROOF STILL WOULD NOT WORK. SO WERE LEAVING IT ALONE UNTIL THE WEATHER WARMED UP. THIS MORNING I WENT OUT TO GO TO WORK AND MY MOONROOF WAS STANDING OPEN AND MY CAR WAS STANDING IN WATER AND LEAVES. NO ONE HAD DRIVEN THE CAR IN 3 DAYS. I AM A 50+ YEAR OLD FEMALE AND TRY TO BE VERY PARTICULAR WITH MY VEHICLE. I RARELY USE THE MOONROOF ITSELF, BUT I DO OPEN THE SUN SHIELD AT TIMES IN THE PAST. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THE MOONROOF OPENED, IF THERE WAS A POWER SURGE OR WHAT??? I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET THIS MORNING AND FOUND THIS HAD HAPPENED TO OTHER INDIVIDUALS.
WHEN QUICKLY ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS THERE IS AN BURNING/EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN. DOES NOT MATTER IF THE A/C IS ON OF OFF OR WHETHER ITS ON OUTSIDE AIR OR RECIRCULATION.
WHEN THERE IS A HEAVY RAIN THE SERPENTINE BELT SQUEALS AT VARIOUS MOMENTS, FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2014 , BUT DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO THE BELT GETTING WET AND FORD DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING, AND THAT IT OCCURS ON OTHER FORD TRUCKS TOO. MY OTHER ISSUE HAS STARTED RECENTLY HAPPENING TO WHEN IT RAINS HEAVILY, THE "LOW BATTERY FEATURES TEMPOR. TURNED OFF" NOTIFICATION COMES ON AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP BRIEFLY WHILE DRIVING. I CHECKED MY BATTERY CONNECTS AS THE MANUAL SAYS TO DO AND THEY ARE FINE. THIS ONLY OCCURS DURING HEAVY RAIN AND IT HAPPENS AT VARIOUS TIMES DURING DRIVING. IT NEVER JUST STAYS ON, BUT WILL TURN ON AND GO OFF AT DIFFERENT TIMES DURING THE DRIVE IN THE HEAVY RAIN. SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING IS GETTING WET CAUSING A SHORTAGE, BUT EITHER WAY ITS DANGEROUS WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP.
STRONG EXHAUST ODOR IN CAB WHILE DRIVING + THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS CAR 16S18 REPLACE BOTH TEAR TOE LINKS
EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE CABINS FROM VENTS WHILE THE EXPLORER IS OPERATING AT FULL THROTTLE, SUCH AS WHEN GOING UPHILL OR MERGING ONTO FREEWAYS.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE, I NOTICED A VERY STRONG SMELL OF PROPANE OR NATURAL GAS. WHEN VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND IDLING, THE SAME SMELL WAS DETECTED OUTSIDE THE CAR. THE NEXT DAY, THE VEHICLE SMELLED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING, ONLY THIS TIME IT SMELLED LIKE ROTTEN EGGS.
DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAY ON ALTHOUGH THE DOORS ARE CLOSED.
HAVE A 2014 FORD EXPLORER AND IT SMELLS BAD FROM EXHAUST AND SOMETIMES EVEN IN THE CABIN. IF I AM DRIVING IT FOR LONGER THAN AN HOUR OR SO, IT EVEN MAKE ME DIZZY. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT A RECALL AND I HAVE TO PAY $650.00 TO FIX IT. I HAVE 37,000 MILES ON IT SO THEY DON'T COVER IT IN 36000 MILE WARRANTY EITHER.
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN APRIL 2014 WITH A LITTLE OVER 500 MILES. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 33,900 MILES. A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WE NOTICED A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED EITHER WAY WHILE MOVING AND WHILE NOT MOVING. I CALLED ON 4-25 FOR APPOINTMENT ON 4-27. THE VEHICLE WAS LOOKED OVER AND I RECEIVED A CALL ON 4-28 STATING THE STEERING GEAR BOX WAS BAD AND NEED REPLACED. I WAS THEN TOLD MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED ON 4-17 AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE BILL OF $1738. I DID RESEARCH AND THERE WERE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS YEAR VEHICLE AS WELL AS RECALLS ON THIS SAME VEHICLE 2011-2013. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE FORD HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE AND SHOULD COVER THESE RIDICULOUS COSTS TO THOSE THAT HAVE HAD THEM. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THESE TYPES OF THINGS ON SUCH A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. FORD WILL PROBABLY BE LOSING OUR CONTINUED BUSINESS.
WE ARE GETTING EXHAUST FUMES COMING THRU AC DUCTS WHILE DRIVING
STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT
DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR WARNING IS ACTIVATED AND NO DOOR IS AJAR. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC LOCKING DOORS, WHICH DO NOT LOCK AS A RESULT. I AM AWARE THAT FORD HAS BEEN GIVEN A PASS ON RECALLS FOR THIS BUT THIS IS A PROBLEM KNOWN TO FORD SINCE 2011. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO MAKE REPAIRS, EVEN AFTER THE NEW CAR WARRANTY IS EXPIRED.THIS IS AN OBVIOUS MFG DEFECT, AND THE MFG SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. I IMAGINE FORD HAS BEEN GIVEN A PASS ON RECALLS BECAUSE THEY NEGOTIATED A DEAL, AND PROBABLY INDICATED THEY WOULD REPAIR ALL REPORTED DEFECTS RATHER THAN HAVE A COMPLETE RECALL OF ALL MODELS USING THIS SAME WARNING SYSTEM, WITH THE SAME PARTS. THE LOCAL DEALER TOLD ME FORD WILL REPAIR AS NECESSARY FOR CARS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOT AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD. THIS DEFECT AFFECTS SEVERAL MODELS OF FORD VEHICLES, FOR SEVERAL KNOWN YEARS, AND FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE DEFECT, FOR ALL MODELS, FOR ALL YEARS, AS LONG AS THE PROBLEM MANIFESTS ITSELF IN OPERATING VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BY FORD.TO MY KNOWLEDGE, THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 2700 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND MORE THAN 33,000 WARRANTY CLAIMS.THAT'S OVER 35,000 KNOWN DEFECTIVE VEHICLES, WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE THOS THAT OWNERS HAVE SIMPLY HAD REPAIRED WITHPOUT COMPLAINT.
WE PURCHASED A 2014 FORD EXPLORER IN MARCH 2017OF THIS YEAR. WE TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR EXHAUST SMELLS IN APRIL 2017. FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXPLAINED VEHICLE WAS EMITTING CARBON MONOXIDE SMELLS INTO THE VEHICLE. FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED SOME "SEALING" AND THAT THE EXHAUST WAS BEING CIRCULATED INTO THE VEHICLE. ONCE SEALED THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE ISSUES HAD BEEN FIXED. JULY 2017 WE STARTED SMELLING THE SAME HORRIBLE SMELLS THAT STARTED GIVING US HORRIBLE HEADACHES AND NAUSEA. EVERY TIME WE ENTERED THE VEHICLE WE FELT SICK. WE ARE A FAMILY OF 6 WITH 4 CHILDREN AND WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE WE GET SICK EVERYTIME. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. SEALING THE VEHICLE OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE AND NOW WE ARE BACK TO SQUARE ONE.
EXPERIENCING STRONG EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE CABIN WHEN RUNNING HEAT OR AC. THE SMELL IS MORE PROMINENT WHEN VEHICLE IS SITTING STATIONARY WITH ENGINE RUNNING.
FUMES OR GAS SMELL COMING OUT OF CAR. STRONG ODOR COMING OUT FROM CAR AFTER DRIVING.
THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD TRIM FLEW OFF MY VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH. THIS IS THE SECOND TRIM PIECE THAT HAS RIPPED OFF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE PASSENGER SIDE BLEW OFF ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I AM WORRIED THAT A LARGE PIECE OF PLASTIC FLYING OFF MY CAR AT HIGH SPEEDS MAY HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE ROAD AND CAUSE AND ACCIDENT OR INJURE SOMEONE. I GOOGLED "FORD EXPLORER WINDSHIELD TRIM PROBLEMS" AND THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $290 TO FIX IT BUT I FEEL LIKE THIS PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS AND IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD OCCUR WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE. ATTACHED ARE PHOTOS OF MY CAR AND THE FORD ESTIMATE SO YOU CAN SEE THE PARTS NUMBERS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHT PIG TAIL AS IT MELTED TO THE BULB
PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD TRIM PEELING BACK AND SEPARATING FROM THE WINDSHIELD, HEAVY VIBRATION NOISE OCCURS AT SPEEDS OVER 15 MPH, AT 65 IT IS DEAFENING. NO ACCIDENT, NO ROUGH TRAVEL, THIS IS A SOCCER MOM CAR, THAT GOES TO SCHOOL, SUPERMARKET AND HOME. NO ROUGH HISTORY OF WASHES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THERE IS AN EXHAUST / PROPANE SMELL ENTERING THE CAR. AT TIMES THE SMELL IS OVERPOWERING AND HAS CAUSED A NAUSEOUS FEELING. HAVING TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE 2012 AND 2014 BULLETIN WORK COMPLETED, THERE HAS BEEN NO DIFFERENCE. HAVING PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 10 WEEKS AGO FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I FEEL I OWN WHAT MAY BE THE LEAST FAMILY-FRIENDLY VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. I HAVE 4 AND 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS THAT I CAN'T HAVE RIDE IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY WILL GET SICK. AS A 6'3" MAN, I HAVE BECOME SICK MYSELF AT TIMES AFTER DRIVING FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES IN RESIDENTIAL STREETS.
WHEN ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM AN ONRAMP, A DAILY EVENT FOR ME, A STRONG EXHAUST ODOR FILLS THE CABIN. IT LINGERS A LONG TIME AND I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO CLEAR THE AIR. IT'S NOT ONLY ANNOYING, I'M AFRAID THERE ARE HEALTH RISKS INVOLVED.
EXHAUST FUMES LEAKING INTO CABIN CAUSING FAMILY TO BREATHE IN FUMES. IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. IF THE VEHICLE AC IS IN RECIRCULATING MODE AND YOU ACCELERATE, FUMES FILL THE CABIN FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. WE ALWAYS HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO LET THE FUMES OUT. IT HAPPENS ESSENTIALLY EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE THE CAR . I CALLED FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THERE ARE NO COMPLAINTS THEY HAVE SEEN. CAUSES HEADACHES AND NAUSEA.
WHEN DRIVING MY EXPLORER I SMELL VERY STRONG EXHAUST FUME SMELLS THAT GIVE ME HEADACHES. IT HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY WHILE DRIVING IT FOR THE PAST YEAR.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR, PASSENGER WINDSHIELD SIDE PANEL FLEW OFF THE MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER TRUCK THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED DAMAGES TO OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME OR EVEN AN ACCIDENT. I JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALERSHIP ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PART IS NOT UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $200 TO GET THE PANEL REPLACED.
WHENEVER I MAKE A HARD ACCELERATION, THERE IS A FOUL SMELL IN THE CABIN. SMELL IS SIMILAR TO ROTTEN EGG OR BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I NORMALLY ALWAYS HAVE THE A/C ON AND IN RECIRCULATE. I HAVE NOTICED THIS EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. TWO DEALERSHIPS HAD NO ANSWER AND SAID THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF ANY COMPLAINTS.
WHILE ACCELERATING, A SMELL OF EXHAUST ENTERS THE CABIN. TYPICALLY HAPPENS DURING HEAVY ACCELERATION, FOR EXAMPLE, WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY. OTHER REPORTS HAVE INDICATED HIGH LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE PRESENT WHEN ODOR IS DETECTABLE.
EXPERIENCING EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.
STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES WHEN EXCELLERATING HARD FROM A STOP OR FROM ANY SPEED AND EXCELLERATION IS CONTINUED FOR AT LEAST 20 TO 30 SEC.
QUICK ACCELERATION WAS REQUIRED BECAUSE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE CROSSING INTO MY LANE. I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING BY ITSELF EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS NOT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND IT BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN.....HOWEVER, WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE THE ACCELERATION CONTINUED AND THE ENGINE RPM JUMPED VERY HIGH. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW. I THEN LET OFF THE BRAKES AGAIN AND THEN ONCE AGAIN THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING FAST AND THE RPM SKYROCKETED. I WAS ABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE AND PUT IT INTO PARK. WHILE THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING I RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE ENGINE RPM JUMPED EXTREMELY HIGH AGAIN. I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH MY FOOT A COUPLE TIMES AND IT RELEASED OFF OF THE FLOOR. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. I WAITED A COUPLE SECONDS AND THEN TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON. THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. AFTER I GOT HOME, MY HUSBAND WAS CURIOUS IF THE FLOOR MAT MAY HAVE GOTTEN IN THE WAY. HE TRIED TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM OF THE ACCELERATOR STICKING TO THE FLOOR BY WEDGING THE FLOOR MAT AGAINST IT. HE WAS UNABLE TO HOLD THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR BY WEDGING THE FLOOR MAT AGAINST IT.
EXHAUST FUME SMELLS IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT , WHILE ON, PARKED AND IN MOTION UNDER 45 MPH
MY CAR STARTED OFF WITH A PROPANE GAS SMELL WHICH WOULD COME AND GO. THEN IT TURNED INTO THIS SULFUR ODOR. WHICH HAD GOTTEN SO BAD THAT YOU COULD ONLY DRIVE THE CAR IF ALL THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN BECAUSE THE ODOR WOULD MAKE YOU SICK. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AT ALL TIMES. YOU COULD SMELL THE ODOR WITH OR WITHOUT THE HEAT ON. THEN AT WHICH POINT THE ODOR NEVER ACTUALLY LEFT THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. AT WHICH I WOULD JUST LEAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN, IN HOPES THAT THE CAR WOULD EVENTUALLY AIR OUT.
EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE CABIN. I NOTICE A BAD EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN IF I ACCELERATE OVER 3,000 RPM.
MY FORD EXPLORER HAS A BAD EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN WHEN HARD ACCELERATING AND ON COLD MORNING EVEN AT IDLE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO NOTICE THE SMELL AND IT LINGERS IN THE CABIN IN TELL YOU OPEN A WINDOW. I CAN SMELL IT ANYTIME I GET ON THE HIGH WAY BUT THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I CAN SMELL A CHEMICAL TYPE SMELL WHEN STOPPED A LIGHTS.
FREQUENTLY GET EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE, FOUL SMELLING. GENERALLY OCCURS AFTER DRIVING AND THEN COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT, THERE IS A NOTICEABLE FOUL EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN. I'VE SEEN THIS COMPLAINT ON THE NEWS AND WAS HOPING THEY WOULD COME UP WITH A FIX AND A RECALL.
EXHAUST SMELL IN CABIN WHILE HVAC ON AND WINDOWS UP. THIS IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHILE ACCELERATING AND AFTER COMING TO A STOP.
NOTICED A STRONG ODOR THAT SMELLS LIKE NATURAL GAS INSIDE OF THE CAR. THE ODOR BECOMES WORSE WHEN THE HEAT IS RUNNING. IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN IN MOTION HOWEVER THE SMELL CAN BE DETECTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS TURNED OFF.
EXHAUST SMELL IN CABIN WHILE DRIVING
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WILL GET A TERRIBLE SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE AFTER ACCELERATING. SMELLS LIKE AN EXHAUST LEAK COMING BACK IN THE CABIN.
DRIVING AT HYWAY SPEED OR GOING UP HILL TH ECO BOOST STALLS CAUSING TRAFFIC HAZARD. UNABLE TO EXCELLERATE PARTIALLY STALLS. TOOK IT INTO GET REPAIRED AND THE PART IS BACK ORDER INDEFINTELEY . I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR SIX WEEKS NOW. NO IDEA WHEN IT CAN BE FIXED.
ANYTIME THE FORD EXPLORER GOES OVER 3000 RPMS THERE'S A STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR. PAID TO LOOK AT OUT OF POCKET AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 O2 SENSORS AT 48,000 MILES.
AFTER A KNOCK WAS DISCOVERED WHILE TURNING I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO FORD ASSUMING I WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY IDENTIFIED A CODE (NOT AVAILABLE) AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE WITH THE "STEERING GEAR BOX ASSEMBLY", SPECIFICALLY THE RACK AND PINION. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET I FOUND MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF SIMILAR MISHAPS, SOME RESULTING IN LOCK UP OF THE STEERING COMPONENT. FORD INFORMED ME THAT WE EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE PORTION OF THE WARRANTY BUT NOT THE YEARS (VEHICLE IS 2 1/2 YEARS OLD). THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE, THEY WOULDN'T COVER THE REPAIRS AND QUOTED $2200 IN REPAIRS. $1500 FOR PARTS AND THE REST FOR LABOR. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE POTENTIAL TO LOCK UP THE STEERING RESULTING IN COLLISION. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE REPAIR AND CAN OBTAIN THE SAME PART NUMBER FOR APPROX. $650 AND LABOR AROUND $700. THERE ARE DOCUMENTED RECALLS ON FORD EXPLORERS UP TO 2013, BUT FOR SOME REASON 2014 IS NOT INCLUDED.
