I was driving down the interstate at 70 MPh and heard a very loud pop. I was not sure where the noise came from. I drove a little further when I saw the rubber seal around windshield flapping. I pulled over and the A-PILLAR APPLIQUE TRIM had completely detached and ripped the rubber seal around window. I called the dealership and they stated there was a recall and it was safe to drive. While driving on interstate I hear air coming in around window. Then she stated she was not sure when parts would become available and I needed to call back at the beginning of April.

JUST LAST YEAR, I STARTED NOTICING THAT BOTH OF MY FRONT SEATBELTS ARE NOT FULLY RETRACTING WHEN I AM BUCKLED OR UNBUCKLED. WHEN I UNBUCKLE MY SEATBELT, I HAVE TO MANUALLY RETRACTED BACK TO ITS POSITION. ALSO, WHEN I HAVE BOTH SEATBELTS BUCKLED, I HAVE TO MANUALLY RETRACTED IN ORDER TO SECURE MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER. THIS HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY AS THIS IS NOT SAFE ENOUGH INCASE OF AN ACCIDENT. ANOTHER ISSUE THAT I HAVE IN MY VEHICLE IS THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR PANEL COMING APART. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AS THIS IS CAUSING OBSTRUCTION OF THE RIGHT REAR VIEW MIRROR BY THE PASSENGER DOOR PANEL. ALSO, THE DRIVER DOOR PANEL HAS CAUSED SCRATCHES TO MY ARM WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAN CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO DISTRACTION.

In February of 2024 I received a recall notice for this vehicle with respect to defective A-pillar applique trim clip attachments around the windshield. The recall stated that parts would be available the latter half of 2024 and that we would be notified when we could schedule our SUV to be fixed. We did not hear from Ford for many months. When winter approached, we called to see what the status was of the parts for this recall. We were told the parts were not available until December. Unaware that this flaw could cause severe water leaking, my wife drove the car as usual. The recall notice even states that there is no reason to stop driving the vehicle. When the first rains hit in November, the car leaked A LOT of water around the windshield and came through the top console. So much water leaked into the floor carpet areas had standing water. We had never experienced any leakage issues before and we're not properly notified that this was the potential issue or that it should not be driven in the rain. We STILL do not have any date for the fix on our SUV. We cannot drive it when it is raining, and in fact, have to cover it with a large tarp so water does not leak inside again. The leak having run down through the electrical system at the top of the inside of the windshield has caused problems. The sun roof now does not work and is now stuck in a partially open position. the rearview camera now works intermittently and the main computer console has gone black a number of times. We seem to have been able to air out the wet carpet smell that prevailed for some time. Needless to say, this is ridiculous. It has been a YEAR since the recall notice was sent. My wile and I are incredibly angry about this situation. Your dealership has done nothing to help us and has only said that we have to contact Ford directly ourselves. I would appreciate your passing this email along to Ford Customer Service in Dearborn, Ml and to your Service department. I will also be sending a copy to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which the recall letter references. I expect that when the part ever shows up that Ford will do a full diagnostic review of the electrical system affected by the water leak. I and my family have owned many Ford vehicles throughout our lives. With this type of incompetence, how can I ever trust in buying another one?

If possible, I will never buy another ford. The car’s rear back up camera has been replaced and has stopped working again.

The driver's side seat belt latch does not automatically latch when you put the seat belt into it. I have to press the release button to get it to latch. If I don't press the release button to latch it, the seat belt won't stay latched. The dealership said they can repair it for $700 but I don't feel that I should have to pay for a safety device that is supposed to work especially since it has not been modified or damaged in any way.

The vehicles steering stopped working with no warning and a Steering Assist Fault alert came on the dashboard.
Steering sounds like it has a groaning noise, I took it into a shop and they noticed it too while I was getting my transmission rebuilt. They could not figure out what the problem was or where it was coming from but assumed it was from the tie rod boots on one side of the car, but all the research I’ve been doing and all other comments about it have been for the rack and pinion starting to fail. It started happening about a month ago (early December 2024) for me where after sitting overnight the steering didn’t want to turn, that stopped happening, but now while driving the steering locks up and breaks free, and you can hear a groaning noise when turning the wheel both left and right when stationary or at low speeds.

Received this recall notice from Ford in February of 2024. Dealership still advises parts are not available to complete the recall. Left side pillar cover is loose.
Making a right turn I was startled by a vehicle running a red light. Front wheel passenger side cleared the curb. Right rear tire jumped the curb jolted back to ground. I looked at tire pressure gauges and no leaks were evident. Being on a single lane road I continued driving looking for a turn in place after traveling about a quarter of a mile an engine rattle developed and there was faint smell of smoke. I traveled another block and turned into a dollar general parking lot. The entrance was on an incline and the car stopped. I had just purchased a new battery a week before and had an oil change about 3 weeks before. The car refused to start. I called triple A and had it towed to dealer. They looked at car and could not come up with a rational reason and doubted car stopped because of violent rear contact with curb at right rear wheel was cause of engine seizing. I called USAA my insurance company their investigating agent agreed. My car is serviced at this dealer and I follow all of the maintenance guidelines I have the records as well as dealer. The car has 125,000 miles and has been well maintained. I am curious if there are any other reports this has happened with 2014 Ford Explorer or any other vehicle. I find it hard to accept such a violent jolt of the running engine did not cause something to fall loose on the running engine. The dealer and appraiser found the car oil full and in pristine condition. There was no frame damage.Turning the crank towards rear they hear metal falling into oil pan. Your thoughts?

This recall has been active for over 6 months with no resolution from Ford on the estimated time that the part will be available. The window trim is missing and parts broken which causes a major leak in the vehicle and has now escalated to mildew in the vehicle from continued leakage in the rain. The response continues to be the same from the dealer that they don't know when the part will be available but in the meantime, a part that could very well cause accidents, injuries or even death as well as interior damage seems to not that big of a concern as far as the Ford Motor Company is concerned. Is there anyway to create a little more urgency for those of us who are having to live with this.
