I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN APRIL 2019, IT ONLY HAS 25,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY TODDLER WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN I COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE EASILY AND WARNING LIGHTS STARTED GOING OFF AFTER I LOST POWER STEERING. THE LIGHTS WERE POWER ASSIST FAULT AND SOMETHING ABOUT ADVANCETRACK SYSTEM IN WHICH I NOTICED THAT MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CAPABILITY WAS NOT WORKING. I WAS ON A CITY STREET SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. ONCE I LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED UP, EVERYTHING WAS ALRIGHT. THIS WAS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME, I WAS JUST EXITING OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN I LOST POWER STEERING AND WARNING CAME ON BUT IT ONLY OCCURRED FOR A MINUTE AND EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS A SAFETY RISK AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT LONG DISTANCE. OTHER THAN THIS I LOVE THIS VEHICLE!
AS WE WERE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE THERE WAS A POPPING SOUND SO I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE RACK AND PINION WAS DEFECTIVE WHICH IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN A FORD AROUND THE 40,000 MILE MARK. IF THE RACK HAD FAILED AT HIGH SPEED IT COULD WELL HAVE BEEN FATAL.
VEHICLE HAS STRONG EXHAUST LIKE BURNT HAIR UNDER HARDER ACCELERATION. FOR INSTANCES, CLIMBING A HILL AND NEEDED TO SPEED UP. THE SMELL STAYS WITH THE VEHICLE AS WELL. FOR AT LEAST A MILE AFTER THE FACT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL VEHICLES AND NEVER HAVE I HAD ONE SMELL LIKE THAT UNDER ACCELERATION.
CONSTANT STEERING POPPING NOISES INCLUDING OCCASIONAL STEERING BINDING AND LOCKING UP. I HAVE HAD A FEW INCIDENTS WHERE I NARROWLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT AFTER STEERING LIMITED TO APPROXIMATELY 30 DEGREES. I HAD TO MUSCLE THE WHEEL, AND AFTER A LOUD BANG, FULL STEERING ROTATION WAS REGAINED. LIKELY THE SAME ISSUE AS IN PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS WHERE STEERING RACK HAD TO BE REPLACED UNDER A MASS RECALL. DEALERSHIP ASSUMING IT IS THE SAME ISSUE, YET THE RECALL DID NOT CARRY OVER TO 2015'S WHICH SUFFER THE SAME PROBLEM.
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD MOLDING BECAME LOOSE AND BROKE OFF WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. THE WINDSHIELD SEAL ALSO FLEW UP AND APPROXIMATELY 3 FEET OF THE THE SEAL CAME OFF AND WAS FLAPPING AGAINST PASSENGER WINDOW BEFORE COMING COMPLETELY DETACHED. IT LOOKS LIKE SOME OF THE WHITE CLIPS ARE BROKEN ON THAT SIDE WINDSHIELD PANEL SO WE ARE UNSURE HOW TO FIX THIS. SO NOW WE ARE MISSING THE ENTIRE SIDE WINDSHIELD MOLDING, AND ABOUT 2 TO 3 FEET OF WINDSHIELD STRIPPING. NOW WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE IS ALSO A VIBRATION AND SOUND LIKE AIR IS COMING IN FROM AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN THE UPPER 30,000 MILE RANGE WHEN I HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ONLY 3 MONTHS.
AIRBAG SENSOR CAME ON AT ABOUT 66,000 MILES. DISREGARDED FOR A WHILE, AS I WAS ON A LONG TRIP. WENT TO DEALER AND THEY PUT ON COMPUTER; DIAGNOSIS CODES ARE DTC B141B AND B141C. DEALER SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG HARNESS, WITH CONNECTORS REPLACED FOR $963.17, B/C WARRANTY CONVENIENTLY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS NONE OF THE AIRBAGS IN THE CAR WILL DEPLOY UNLESS I PAY FORD RANSOM FOR A PART THAT HAS NO MOVING PARTS. I SEE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH SAME ISSUE SO THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL.
2015 FORD EXPLORER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWER STEERING FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING SERVICE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY WENT OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE POWER STEERING RECALL. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT HEARD A SQUEALING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTOFAIR FORD IN MANCHESTER (1475 S WILLOW ST, MANCHESTER, NH 03103, (603) 634-1001). THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER SIX WEEKS BEFORE TO HAVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING REPLACED UNDER A WARRANTY. THE DEALER PERFORMED AN 100 POINT INSPECTION AND RECOMMENDED SEVERAL REPAIRS THAT NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE DEALER HAD BEEN AGGRESSIVELY SOLICITING THE CONTACT TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE AND CHECKED TO SEE IF SHE WANTED TO ACT ON ANY OF THE SERVICE REPAIR RECOMMENDATIONS. REGARDING THE SQUEALING NOISE, THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND AN ALIGNMENT WAS NEEDED. THE REPAIRS WOULD COST $2,215. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ONLINE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,100.

THE CONTACT CALLED TOMMIE VAUGHN FORD AT 888-841-4361 (LOCATED AT 1201 N SHEPHERD DR, HOUSTON, TX 77008) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO PROVISION FOR A LOANER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
EXHAUST OR EMISSION SYSTEM: CURRENTLY DASH BOARD IS DISPLAYING ENGINE LIGHT WHICH WAS DIAGNOSED TO CODE P420 FOR CATALYTIC CONVERTER OR OXYGEN SENSOR
MAKING SLOW RIGHT HANDED TURNS, CLUNKING SOUND WAS DETECTED IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FORD DEALER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 61000 MILES ON IT AND THE COST WILL BE $1950.
ON 6/6/19 VEHICLE LOST ENGINE THROTTLE POWER WHEN "WRENCH" LIGHT INDICATOR APPEARED ON DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE (AT LEAST 65MPH). WRENCH NOTED TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ERROR. ENGINE DID NOT SHUT OFF. VIBRATED VERY BADLY WHEN COMING TO STOP. HAPPENED AGAIN ON 6/12 ON CITY STREET DRIVING APPROX 35MPH. BOTH TIMES STOPPED VEHICLE, TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. FORD DEALERSHIPS CANNOT DETERMINE PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE COMPUTER SYSTEMS CANNOT SEE ERROR CODE(S) IN DIAGNOSTICS.. RECALL ITEMS SUSPENSION UNSTABLE WHILE IN MOTION
VEHICLE MAKES GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING RIGHT. THIS VEHICLE JUST HAS 40K MILES AND THE STRUTS SHOULD NOT BE MAKING SOUNDS LIKE THIS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN SLOW MOTION AND IN REVERSE. THIS WAS RECALLED IN 2011-2014 BUT NOT IN 2015 AND I BELIEVE WAS IN AN ON GOING ISSUE. THESE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JULY 2014.
A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO THE LEFT REAR TOE LINK BROKE WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO LOSE CONTROL AND GO INTO A SIDEWAYS SLIDE, BREAKING THE WHEEL HUB IN THE PROCESS. SMOOTH ROAD GOING ABOUT 50 MPH IN GOOD CONDITIONS. WE GOT THE CAR FIXED AND HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS SINCE THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. AFTER THE FORD DEALER IN MCHENRY IL HAD IT FOR OVER A WEEK, WE GOT THE CAR BACK, DROVE IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND SUDDENLY WE HAD A CRACKED EXHAUST FLEX PIPE. WE HAD TO PAY SEVERAL HUNDRED MORE TO GET THAT REPAIRED. AGAIN, DRIVEN ON SMOOTH ROADS IN THE SUMMER, NOTHING THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS SO SUDDENLY. GOT THE CAR BACK AGAIN AFTER SEVERAL MORE DAYS IN THE SHOP.. DROVE IT FOR A COUPLE MORE DAYS AND THE LEFT REAR TOE LINK BROKE.. AGAIN... DEALER THIS TIME INSTALLED THE "RECALL KIT" ON BOTH SIDES. LUCKILY, THIS TIME IT WAS AT SLOW SPEEDS COMING INTO A PARKING LOT . HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. AGAIN.. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS NOW, AND THE LEFT TOE LINK HAS COME LOOSE.. AGAIN.. THE CAR WILL BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER TOMORROW BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT WAS DRIVEN 3 TIMES AT LOW SPEEDS AROUND TOWN SINCE WE GOT IT BACK. MY WIFE IS NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR OUT OF FEAR OF IT BREAKING AGAIN. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE IF THE RECALL PART DOESN'T WORK. WHEN THIS PART FAILS, THIS CAR HAS A SEVERE LOSS OF CONTROL AND CAN VERY EASILY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. FORD NEEDS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
THE SEAT BELT LOCKS AND WILL NOT RELEASE UNLESS THE BELT IS COMPLETELY BROUGHT BACK IN.
NOISY POPPING NOISE WHEN STEERING LEFT AND RIGHT AT A STAND STILL OR LOW SPEEDS. THIS TURNS INTO A LOCKED STEERING WHEEL IN ONE POSITION.
THE INTERIOR DRIVER DOOR PANEL IS SPLITTING AT SEAM AND THE YELLOW FILLER IS NOW SHOWING.
DOOR PANEL IS LIFTING. THIS SHOULD BE DEFECTIVE
PURCHASED USED CARD MARCH 2019.AFTER A FEW MONTHS STARTED NOTICING WHEN PARKING CAR EVEN AND UNEVEN TERRAIN CANNOT GET PARKING BRAKE TO ENGAGE AND THE GEAR WOULD NOT SET TO THE P OF PARK AND BE ABLE TO STOP THE CAR. IT WAS A SITUATION THAT HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY, BUT NOW IT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT.
WHILE DRIVING RECENTLY MY CAR WOULD 'SPUTTER' WHILE AT A LIGHT ETC. WELL TODAY IT COMPLETELY DIES WHILE DRIVING (ABOUT 20MPG). IT EVENTUALLY RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO MY MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY DIED WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVE OF THE MECHANIC WHO WILL TAKE A LOOK ON MONDAY. ALSO, HAD PROBLEMS WITH STEERING UNIT THAT FORD SAID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SAID THAT WOULD COST US ABOUT $1100 FOR A NEW MODULE. AT THAT TIME THE CAR HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT. CURRENTLY HAS 72,000. MY HUSBAND WAS GOING TO BY A F150 NOW SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING GOING WITH TOYOTA. HE'S HEARTBROKEN AS WE BOTH THOUGHT THE EXPLORER WOULD BE A RELIABLE CAR.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH AND HEARD A HUGE POP ON THE PASSENGER WINDOW AND SOMETHING BLACK FLY BY. WE PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT THE PLASTIC BLACK TRIM ON THE SIDES OF THE WINDSHIELD BROKE IN HALF AND THE RUBBER WAS HANGING OFF. I HAD TO CUT IT OFF. AFTER TAKING A CLOSER LOOK, IT APPEARS THERE ARE SEVERAL PIECES OF THE PLASTIC TRIM THAT ARE WARPING AND EVEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE PANEL WAS LOSE SO I'M SURE IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS SIDE BREAKS OFF ALSO. I SEE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM ALSO AND IT WOULD BE NICE IF FORD WOULD DO A RECALL ON THE PANELS, AS THEY ARE NOT CHEAP. EVEN THE BOARD THAT THE TRIM ATTACHES ITSELF TO IS COMING LOSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE 'LANE DETECTION FAILURE' MESSAGE SUDDENLY APPEARED AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO FOUND DIAGNOSTIC CODE: C200D AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JONES FORD OF NORTH CHARLESTON (5757 RIVERS AVE, NORTH CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA), BUT THE CODE WAS NO LONGER PRESENT AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AND VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING AFTER REMOVING FOOT FROM PEDAL. IT DID THIS 3 TIMES WITHIN 10 MINUTES. THE FLOOR MATS WERE NOT IN THE WAY AND CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ACTIVATED.
TWO MONTHS AGO I HAD THIS WEIRD SMELL IN THE CABIN OF MY EXPLORER WHEN ACCELERATING , , TAKE IT TO THE SHOP, TWO DAYS AFTER THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS CARBON MONOXIDE IT STARTED MAKING A WEIRD NOISE , TAKE IT IN AGAIN AND THE PTU IS COMPLETELY SHREDDED. WAS TOLD ALL THE FLUID LEAKED OUT AND CAUSED THIS DAMAGE. COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE PTU OVER $2500 ON A VEHICLE 2015 FORD EXPLORER WITH ONLY 64,000 MILES ON IT.
I THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING STRUTS ISSUES IN THE FRONT AS WELL AS A SWAY BAR. HOWEVER I FINALLY GOT AN APPOINTMENT AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY A FAILING ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAVE 42,524 MILES ON IT AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ALREADY. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY FAIL CAUSING YOU TO LOSE POWER STEERING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE MAKES THE NOISE WHEN TURNING SLOWLY TO THE RIGHT OR WHEN BACKING UP. IT WILL ALSO MAKE THE NOISE WHEN YOU ARE STATIONARY AND TURN THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH. THE QUOTE I RECEIVED FOR THE REPAIR WAS $1,770. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED ON A 2015 VEHICLE WITH LOW MILEAGE.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY WENT OUT ALMOST CAUSING HER TO WRECK. SHORTLY AFTER A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" MESSAGE POPPED UP. AFTER SEARCHING THROUGH FORUMS AND GOGGLE IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT FORD REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE.
THE POWER STEERING FROZE WHILE DRIVING ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS. THE FIRST WAS WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE SECOND TIME WAS WHILE TURNING TO MERGE ONTO A BUSY TWO LANE HIGHWAY AND THE THIRD TIME WAS WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION IN ALL THREE CASES AND HAD TO BE PUT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF BEFORE STEERING CAME BACK. MY WIFE WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR WHEN IT HAPPENED TO HER BECAUSE SHE WASN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO OVERCOME THE FORCE.
LANE KEEPING STEERING ASSIST IS ELECTRIC MOTOR ASSIST. THE RACK & PINION STEERING GEAR MOTOR MALFUNCTIONED, LEAVING THE STEERING WITHOUT ANY ASSIST, RESULTING IN MANUAL (EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER) STEERING. IN THIS CASE, NO CRASH RESULTED, BUT REQUIRED RACK & PINION REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. REPLACEMENT COST ~$2200.00 AT A FORD DEALERSHIP.

THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND HIT THE CONCRETE BARRIER, BOUNCED AND HIT THE RIGHT CONCRETE BARRIER. NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE POLICE WAS PRESENT AND A REPORT WAS ISSUED. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE, TREATED AND RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY LABELED THE VEHICLE AS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The "Steering Assist Fault Service Required" and "Service Advance Track" messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The contact pulled into a nearby parking lot. The contact stated she turned off the vehicle and when she restarted the vehicle, the steering wheel was easier to maneuver. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROUSE FORD (11 ANTRIM BLVD, TANEYTOWN, MD 21787, (877) 782-7280) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING SUDDENLY; DUE TO FACTORY MISTAKE OR FAULTY PARTS OR MANUFACTURING. POSSIBLY CAUSING LOSS CONTROL AND CRASH OCCURRENCES. UNLESS YOU HAVE UPPER BODY EXTREME STRENGTH YOU CAN'T CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL DUE TO THIS DEFECT. WHEN I DRIVE AT SLOW SPEEDS TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT, GARAGE, TURN INTO A DRIVE WAY AND REVERSING OUT OF THESE SPOTS, THERE IS A LOUD CLUNK NOISE. WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT.
THE SIDE PANEL POPPED OUT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE FORD DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TO WAS AWARE OF IT. THE SECOND ISSUE WE HAD AT 66,000 MILES WAS AN ERROR CALLED 'TERRAIN MANAGEMENT FAULT'. BOTH TIMES THIS ERROR OCCURRED, WE WERE MOVING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT FIXED ITSELF. THE SECOND TIME, WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR KILLED. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. PLEASE GET FORD TO A DRESS THESE SAFETY ISSUES.
THE VEHICLE HAS APPROX 42,000 MILES AND HAS STARTED EXHIBITING THE CLUNKING NOISE AND DIFFICULT TURNING AT LOW SPEED, SPECIFICALLY IN TURNING RIGHT, AS REPORTED IN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS. LOOKING AT A $2K FIX AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE WITH WITH SO MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IS DISTURBING AND AMAZING WHY FORD IS NOT FIXING THIS.
HAVING A FEELING OF NAUSEA WHEN DRIVING EXOLORER. YESTERDAY AND TODAY WE HAVE BEEN RUNNING THE AC DUE TO HOTTER TEMPS. AFTER LETTING CAR IDLE FOR 5-10 MINUTES WHILE USING REMOTE START I START TO FEEL LIGHT HEADED AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING. AFTER FEELING FINE ALL DAY. SEEMS TO BE ONLY WHEN THE CAR USES AC. TODAY I WAS IN THE DRIVE THRU FOR MY SON WHILE IDLING WHEN I STARTED TO FEEL LIGHT HEADED. NOTICED THE RECIRCULATION MODE TURNS ITSELF ON AFTER I TURNED IT OFF. THIS ISSUE IS QUITE CONCERNING. WAS SLATED TO HAVE RECALL FIX DONE AT CAPITOL FORD BUT ADVISOR SAID IT WASNT ATTACHED TO THE VIN SO THEY DIDNT DO IT.
Driving on the highway, my left windshield trim flew off. This could have hurt someone or caused an accident. There was no warning prior to it coming off. The dealer charged me $500 to replace it.
1ST CONCERN: MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER IS AT 84,000 MILES. I HAVE CAPTAIN (BUCKET) SEATS FOR THE 2ND ROW. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, MY SON COULDN'T GET OUT HIS SEAT BELT. THE RED BUTTON WOULDN'T RELEASE AND IT WAS TIGHT AROUND HIS WAIST, EVENTUALLY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE ENOUGH ROOM FROM HIM TO SLIDE UNDER THE LAP BELT. THE ESTIMATE I RECEIVED 3 WEEKS AGO WAS $230 NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A SEAT BELT. 2ND CONCERN: THIS PAST WEEKEND TRAVELING 70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY I HEARD FLAPPING OUTSIDE THE FRONT DRIVERS WINDOW THE PANEL WAS SHAKING FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THEN FLEW OFF. BEFORE I COULD SAFELY STOP THE RUBBER THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDERNEATH THE PANEL CAME LOOSE AND STARTED HITTING THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. I INSPECTED THE PASSENGERS SIDE AND IT HAS ALSO LIFTED AND WILL COME OFF SOON. I HAVEN'T HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET AN ESTIMATE BUT I FEEL AS THESE ARE ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE HAPPENING. BOTH IN MY OPINION ARE SAFETY CONCERNS, NOTHING SHOULD BE FLYING OFF THE CAR AND SEAT BELTS SHOULD WORK.
AT THE EDGE OF THE HOOD THE PAINT IS BUBBLING, MY CLAIM AT FORD HAS BEEN DENIED AT UNDER 4 YEARS OLD.
ON 4/14/19 WE LEFT FOR VACATION AND DROVE1,100 MILES FROM ARLINGTON, VA TO KEY LARGO, FL AND WHEN WE GOT TO FL, THE STEERING STARTED MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE AND GOT STUCK WHEN WE WERE MAKING A U-TURN. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I COULD TELL IT WAS THE STEERING, COULD GIVE OUT WHEN DRIVING AND WAS A SERIOUS REPAIR THAT COULD NOT WAIT UNTIL RETURNING HOME IN A WEEK TO GET IT REPAIRED. WE DROVE TO LORENZO FORD IN HOMESTEAD, FL. ON 4/16/19. LORENZO FORD KNEW RIGHT AWAY THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE STEERING. OUR EXPLORER HAD 41,339 MILES ON IT AND THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS NOT UNUSUAL FOR THE STEERING TO GIVE OUT. HE ACTUALLY SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM BUT NOT A RECALL. THE REPAIR TOTALED $2,335.91. I THOUGHT WE WERE DRIVING A DEPENDABLE AND SAFE CAR ON OUR VACATION, BUT WE GOT TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME GETTING OUR CAR REPAIRED ON OUR VACATION. I'VE HAD NUMEROUS FORDS, AND HAVE ALWAYS CALLED MYSELF A FORD PERSON. SADLY, I DON'T LIKE THE DIRECTION FORD IS GOING AND THIS MAY BE MY LAST ONE. THANKS FORD FOR NOT MAKING QUALITY JOB #1 AND WRECKING MY VACATION. YOU NEED TO RECALL THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
HAD THE RECALL DONE FOR (FSA 17N03) AFTER THE SERVICE WAS DONE, WE HAVE NOTICED WHEN PASSING ON THE FREEWAY OR GOING UP HILL, HOT AIR BLOWS OUT THE VENTS THEN A HEAVY ODOR OF EXHAUST. MY VEHICLE ALSO USES E85, SO WE HAVE RULED OUT MAYBE A CAR IN FRONT OF US. WHEN USING E85 WE GET A STRONG SMELL OF ALCOHOL TYPE. WE HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SMELL, EACH TIME THEY WANT THE WINDOWS DONE OR HAVE THE A/C ON. I TELL THEM WE DON'T DRIVE WITH IT ON ALL THE TIME OR HAVE THE WINDOWS DOWN ON THE FREEWAY. EVERY 4-6 MONTHS MORE STORIES IN THE NEWS HAVE BEEN COMING UP WITH CONCERNS ABOUT EXHAUST SMELLS IN THE EXPLORER AND NOW FORD IS REDESIGNED THE VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT MORE AND MAYBE WITH THIRD PARTY ENGINEER.
POWER STEERING FAILED AS I WAS PULLING AWAY FROM A GAS PUMP AFTER REFUELING. POWER ASSIST WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL UNLESS I USED A GREAT AMOUNT OF FORCE. LUCKILY I WAS STILL IN THE GAS STATION PARKING LOT WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALER.
WHEN ACCELERATING IN MY VEHICLE FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND WHEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THERE IS A CARBON MONOXIDE ODOR AND I GET LIGHT HEADED AND HAVE HEADACHES AFTERWARD. THIS HAS CONTINUED AFTER MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE RECALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE AND AFTER THE REPAIR.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO CONRAD'S. SCANNED CODE AND THE RESULT IS ENGINE TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND POSSIBLY THE ENGINE. HAVE QUOTES FROM MULTIPLE SERVICE STATIONS AND EACH ONE SAID THIS ENGINE HAS LOTS OF PROBLEMS.
WHEN WE TURN THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT IT HAS A LOUD POPPING NOISE DURING DRIVING OR STATIONARY ITS PROGRESSING FROM A POPPING AND SOMETHING THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK. TOLD BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS THAT THE POPPING NOISE HAS TO DO WITH STRUT AND CV JOINT AND ELECTRIC STEERING GEAR AND RACK AND PINION GOING BAD. OUR EXPLORER ONLY HAS 91000 MILES. BOTH MECHANICS SAY THIS IS ODD THAT THIS IS GOING ON FOR A 2015. THAT WE SHOULD CHECK FOR RECALLS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HALDEMAN FORD (640 US-130, EAST WINDSOR, NJ 08520, (833) 668-9583) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
THERE IS A TERRIBLE EXHAUST SMELL THAT COMES INTO THE INTERIOR CABIN. THE SMELL IS EVEN WORSE UPON EXTENDED HARD ACCELERATION. IN ADDITION, THERE IS BUBBLING IN MY HOOD DUE TO FAULTY HOODS BEING PRODUCED ON FORD EXPLORERS. FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED BOTH ISSUES - AS THERE IS A TSB. FORD'S "FIX" TSB-16016 IS NOT A FIX AT ALL. IT MERELY IS A BANDAGE FOR THE PROBLEM AS MY FAMILY STILL SMELLS EXHAUST IN THE VEHICLE. MY 3 YEAR OLD SON IS INHALING THIS TOXIC SMELL.
Upon excellerated take off the exhaust fumes fill the cabin. There has been a prior recall for such issues. This has happened multiple times over the entire time that I have owned it. It is getting increasingly worse and I worry for myself, my family and others. My local Ford dealership dismissed me every time I brought it up.
