OUR 2015 EXPLORER SPORT WITH 60550 MILES HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON FOR ONE DAY, THEN TURNED OFF. WE HAD IT DIAGNOSED IMMEDIATELY AND WERE TOLD THE CAR NEEDED A TIMING CHAIN ($3200). THE LIGHT CAME ON DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND THE NEXT DAY WAS NOT LIT. THE LIGHT CAME ON RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED, AND FORD WOULD NOT HELP WITH REPAIRS. FOR SUCH AN ISSUE TO OCCUR SO EARLY AND RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY IS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING.
DRIVING TO WORK AND RECEIVED A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT/SERVICE REQUIRED" WARNING MESSAGE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, WHERE THEY REPAIRED A FAULTY STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY.
I PREVIOUSLY REPORTED A POSITIVE CASE FINDING OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING ON 03/22/19 SECONDARY TO A LARGE AMOUNT OF EXHAUST TYPE FUMES ENTERING MY VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM UPON ACCELERATING FROM STOPPED POSITION TO ACCELERATION TO 70 ON INTERSTATE WITH CLIMATE CONTROL ON. ON 03/26 /19 I AGAIN EXPERIENCED THE SAME OCCURRENCE PRIOR TO DRIVING TO FORD DEALERSHIP WITH VEHICLE IN PARKED POSITION IN DRIVEWAY WITH CLIMATE ON AUTO HEAT. AN ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES WAS NOT EXPERIENCED HOWEVER CAR AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ITSELF TO AC AND COLD AIR CAME IN ON ITS OWN PRIOR TO DEPARTURE. I SHUT ALL CLIMATE FUNCTIONS OFF AND ROLLED DOWN ALL WINDOWS, I WAS VERY COLD SO ROLLED I UP 3 WINDOWS AND HEATED SEATS AND HEATER 10 MIN FROM DEALERSHIP. THEN AGAIN ACCESSORY AIR KICKED ON ACCESS I BEGAN HAVING I BEGAN EXPERIENCING BLURRED VISION AND LIGHTHEADEDNESS I ROLLED DOWN ALL WINDOWS . I ARRIVED AT FORD SERVICE AND VIN LOOKUP WAS PERFORMED AND I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL FOR CARBON MONOXIDE CONCERNS. I WAS DRIVEN TO HOSPITAL AND AGAIN TREATED FOR ACUTE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AND ADMITTED FOR ADMINISTRATION OF 10 LITERS ON A BREATHING MASKS FOR 6 HOURS THIS TIME. MY CARBOXYHEMOGLOBIN WAS EVEN HIGHER AT 6.6% AND PA O2 WAS IN THE 80?S AND NORMALIZED TO 1.5 BEFORE DISMISSAL. I EXPERIENCED SEVERE MENTAL CONFUSION AND SLOWED SPEECH FOR 2 HOURS AFTER EXPOSURE. MY CAR READINGS SHOWED A CONSTANT LEVEL BETWEEN 10 AND 15 FROM FROM OSHA DETECTOR BORROWED FROM JOB SITE WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF 30.4. I RECEIVED FOUR ABG?S DURING STAY, CHEST X-RAY AND WAS ONLY TODAY FINALLY FEEL MENTALLY CLEAR. I HAD A HEADACHE FOR FOUR DAYS DESCRIBED A DULL AND CONSTANT WITH VISUAL DISTURBANCES AND DYSPNEA WITH ANY EXERTION FROM WHICH I?VE NOT COMPLETELY RECOVERED. BASELINE READING DURING SHORT TRIPS OF 20 MIN OR LESS WERE 0 AND ROSE TO 10 WITH HIGH OF 30.4 IN 15 MIN TRIP. SEE 11190974. *DB*JB
I HAVE HAD ONGOING ISSUES WITH SMELLING AN EXHAUST TYPE SMELL UPON ACCELERATING MY VEHICLE WITH AN INCREASE IN RPM. WHENEVER THIS HAPPENS I ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO AVOID THE FUMES. I PREVIOUSLY NOTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBIA MO BY TELEPHONE SHORTLY (2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE) REGARDING THE EXHAUST FUMES AND WAS TOLD NOT TO WORRY LEVELS WERE LOW ENOUGH NOT TO CAUSE A PROBLEM. 6 MONTHS LATER MY FATHER AGAIN TOOK MY CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN SAID NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND NOT TO BE CONCERNED I HAVE HAD HEADACHES, VISUAL BLURRING AND DYSPNEA SPORADICALLY SINCE OWNERSHIP. ON MARCH 22ND, 2019 I WAS DRIVING TO A ROUTINE DRS APPOINTMENT LOCATED 10 MILES FROM MY HOME. I PULLED OUT OF AN INTERSECTION AND SPED UP TO THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT AND NOTICED AN IMMEDIATE ODOR OF EXHAUST TYPE FUMES RADIATING THROUGH THE CAR. MY HEAT WAS ON CLIMATE CONTROL AND THEN TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN AND ACCESSORY OUTSIDE AIR CAME IN. MY EYES WERE BURNING AND MY HEART RATE SPED UP ALONG WITH A BURNING SENSATION IN MY NOSE. BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE DOCTOR MY FACE AND HANDS WERE A BRIGHT CHERRY RED. THE DOCTOR WAS CONCERNED ABOUT MY SYMPTOMS AND ORDERED A STAT ARTERIAL BLOOD GAS FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE RESULTS WERE RETURNED AT A CRITICAL LEVEL OF 5.5 L 0.5 TO 1.5. AND MY P02 OXYGEN CONTENT WAS ONLY 67.1. I RECEIVED EMERGENCY TREATMENT FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING, MY CARBON MONOXIDE LEVEL WENT DOWN ON TO 4.2 ON 100% REBRREATHING MASK AND 0XYGEN LEVEL WENT TO ABOVE 100MMHG. . THEY WOULD NOT LET ME GET BACK IN MY CAR AND MY HUSBAND CAME AND DROVE WITH WINDOWS DOWN HOME AFTER PURCHASING A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR THAT ALARMED WITHIN MINUTES. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL NOW KNOWING THAT MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF HAVE DRIVE MUCH FURTHER THAN 8 MILES WITH UNKNOWN LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE LEVELS I WILL BE HAPPY TO FORWARD THE MEDICAL RECORD OF VISIT OF DIAGNOSIS OF ACUTE COBB POISONING. AT AROUND 100,000 MILES DRIVERS SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK...STARTED STICKING AROUND 95,000 MILES. NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A SEATBELT BEFORE ESPECIALLY IN A CAR THAT WAS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD. ALSO, AT AROUND THE SAME TIME THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD PILLAR BROKE OFF AND FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65 MPH. THE PASSENGER SIDE FLEW OFF AT 115,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL. NEITHER IS COVERED BY WARRANTY AND OWNER WILL HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET TO COVER THE DAMAGES ($500+). HOW CAN FORD PUT ON SUCH CHEAP FINISHES TO THE CAR? NOISE LEVEL IN THE CAB IS AFFECTED DUE TO WIND NOISE. PASSENGER PILLARPOPPED LOOSE AND WOULD NOT POP BACK IN. APPEARED THAT A CLIP HAD BROKEN.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD I WENT TO MAKE A TURN AND MY VEHICLE MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE STEERING WHEEL ACTED LIKE IT DID NOT WANT TO TURN. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY RACK AND PINNION WAS BAD. I ONLY HAVE 57,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND I AM CLEARLY NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS COMPLAINT. IT'S VERY STRANGE THAT ALL MODELS ARE COVERED EXCEPT MINE.IF MY CHILD WOULD HAVE BEEN HURT BECAUSE OF A FAULTY VEHICLE WHERE NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEVASTATED.
CAR WAS IN MOTION IN NEW YORK CITY, VAN WYCK EXPRESSWAY SERVICE ROAD. THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF ON 3/17/2019, 4:30 PM THE DASH BOARD SIGNALED POWERTRAIN, DEALER STATES TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. VEHICLE PURCHASE USED WITH 59,000 MILES ON FEBRUARY 2018. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON SINCE MARCH 2018. CURRENTLY 82,600 MILES. BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY HEADLIGHTS , HEARTNG MOTOR, THERE ARE LEAKS INTO THE CAR THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRS. THE CAR IS LOW FALLING APART :( .AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET SINCE EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER EVERYTHING.. NOT GETTING STRAIGHT ANSWERS FROM FORD OR THE DEALER. THANK GOD I WAS ON THE SERVICE ROAD AND GOING 25 MPH STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THE CAR NEVER STARTED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER.
2015 FORD EXPLORER XLT, ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED DURING DRIVING. A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" MESSAGE ILLUMINATES ON THE DASH INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. EACH TIME THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND BEGINNING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE AT FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS 98,734. APPOINTMENT MADE AT LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE.
2015 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED APPROXIMATELY 80000 MILES. WHILE IN MOTION LOSES ENGINE ALL ENGINE POWER AND BEGINS TO SHUDDER. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, SHIFTING INTO PARK, SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY AS IF IT NEVER HAPPENED. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE DASHBOARD INDICATES 'SERVICE TERRAIN SYSTEM MANAGEMENT' WITH THE WRENCH ICON. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, ALL WITHOUT WARNING AND ALL WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAVING TO MANEUVER A STALLING VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC. VERY DANGEROUS!! HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE WITH NO ANSWERS TO WHY IT HAPPENS. NO CODES SHOW UP IN THE SYSTEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE A SERIOUS OR FATAL ACCIDENT OCCURS.
SLOW SPEED GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING. IN MOTION AND STATIONARY ON ALL SERVICES
DRIVING 55MPH ON I-94 LAST NIGHT IN A STEADY RAIN AND CHECK BATTERY MESSAGE CAME UP IN THE LEFT IP DISPLAY. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS I LOST THE POWER STEERING, THEN THE CENTER CONSOLE ENTERTAINMENT/INFO SCREEN, THEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT BLACK WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHICH WERE ON HIGHEST SETTING SLOWED BUT CONTINUED TO OPERATE ONLY WHILE IN THE HIGHEST SETTING. THIS SCENARIO CONTINUED OFF AND ON FOR THE NEXT 30 MILES WITH INTERMITTENT ELECTRONIC STEERING FAILURE, INTERNAL IP AND CONSOLE SCREEN FAILURE AND EXTERIOR LIGHTING FAILURES. WE PULLED OVER EACH TIME AND WITHIN A VARIED AMOUNT OF TIME FROM A FEW SECONDS TO A FEW MINUTES, A SOUND SIMILAR TO A SQUEALING BELT WOULD BE HEARD AND THE SYSTEM WOULD "REBOOT" AND ALL FUNCTIONING WOULD BE RESTORED FOR A LIMITED TIME. WE LIMPED THE VEHICLE HOME OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT HOUR AND A HALF FOR 35 MILES AS I WAS NOT LEAVING THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY OR IN DETROIT IF I COULD SAFELY AVOID IT. THIS MORNING (SUNDAY) I TESTED THE BATTERY AND HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED UNDER LOAD AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND BOTH WERE WITHIN NORMAL PARAMETERS. BELT LOOKED GOOD WITH VISUAL INSPECTION AND 1 HOUR OF IDLE AND DRIVE TIME CLOSE TO HOME IN DAMP PUDDLING ROADS COULD NOT GET ANY ADVERSE SYMPTOMS TO REAPPEAR. IT WILL GO TO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT OUR LOCAL DEALER TOMORROW FOR A THOROUGH INSPECTION. THIS IS MY WIFE'S DAILY DRIVER AND IF NO ISSUE CAN BE FOUND WE WILL BE REPLACING THE CAR AS SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN EXTREME DANGER WITHOUT STEERING, LIGHTS AND IP, ESPECIALLY ON A SATURDAY NIGHT DRIVING THROUGH THE CITY OF DETROIT'S I-94 EXPRESSWAY.
I OWN A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS CONTINUOUSLY ON AND FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. THIS CAUSES ME CONCERN NOT ONLY FOR MY OWN SAFETY BUT FOR MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WITH STIVERS FORD IN WAUKEE, IA, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE SECOND ROW DRIVER SIDE INFLATABLE SEAT BELT DEPLOYMENT CONTROL FAILED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I AM REPLACING AS I FEEL I NEED TO FOR MY FAMILIES AND I SAFETY, BUT IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE. IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL BECAUSE THERE IS NO WEAR AND TEAR. THERE IS FAULTY WIRING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE OF MY CAR IS 52,000.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON 2015 EXPLORER CAME ON (HAS BEEN SOME TIME). TOOK TO DEALER SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, WOULD REQUIRE TRACING DOWN WIRING COSTING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND WAS NOT WORTH US DOING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A DEALER (FORD) CAN DISMISS THIS SAFETY ISSUE
Second row drivers side seat belt failed to retract and is unusable
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED TO FUNCTION AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED MORE THAN ONCE. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, LOW BATTERY MODE, AND OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED OFF THE ROAD, SHUT OFF, AND RESTARTED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. BRUCE WALTERS FORD (302 S MAYO TRAIL, PIKEVILLE, KY 41501, (606) 444-2200) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
On the highway in Texas a piece of the trim on the passenger side of windshield flew off the car. We pulled off the highway and found the part. We stopped at abford dealer in California to have it re -attached.
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK" WITH AUDIBLE WARNING. I'VE HAD START THE VEHICLE UP AGAIN AND SOMETIMES MOVE IT AND TRY AGAIN TO CLEAR THE WARNING. HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE CONSISTENTLY. HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND AS WELL. I AM PRIMARY DRIVER AND HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FROM NEW. I'M WORRIED TO PARK ON AN INCLINE/DECLINE. PLANNING TO MAKE SERVICE APPOINTMENT TODAY, BUT DOUBT THEY'LL BE ABLE TO REPRODUCE SINCE IT IS INTERMITTENT. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-17203222. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. GOES OFF INTERMITTENTLY BUT IS ON MORE THAN IT IS OFF. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN THE CODES AND INDICATED IT WAS A SHORT IN THE WIRING HARNESS UNDER BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT PASSENGER SEATS IN THE SECOND ROW. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT WITHOUT REPAIR IT WAS POSSIBLE THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY.
WATER PUMP STARTED LEAKING AT 54000 MILES RIGHT OUT OF WARRANTY. WAS TOLD NEEDED REPLACEMENT OR ELSE ENGINE WOULD SEIZE. PAID OVER $2,100 TO GET IT REPLACED. STUPID DESIGN AND HARD LABOR TO GET TO IT. CAR HAS VIBRATION NOW EVER SINCE WE HAD IT REPAIRED BUT THOUGHT IT WAS NORMAL LEAVING DEALER. I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN RECALLED. NOW, THE PARKING AID WENT OUT. THESE CARS ARE HORRENDOUS
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON. BECAUSE OF THIS AIRBAGS WERE DISABLED. TOOK TO DEALER FOR EVALUATION. THEY TOLD ME WAS NOT DUE TO ABUSE, WEAR, OR ACCIDENT. WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD TO REROUTE WIRING PATH FROM FACTORY. THEN THEY CHARGED ME $332
WE HAVE OWNED MANY FORDS IN THE PAST BUT AFTER OWNING A 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT IT MAY BE THE LAST. MY EXPLORER HAS ONLY BEEN OUT OF WARRANTY FOR LESS THAN A YEAR. AS SOON AS IT WENT OUT OF WARRANTY THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE LINK SO THEY SAID. MAYBE IT WAS'T A LINK AFTER ALL. THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE UNDER MY CAR WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. NOW LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THE CLUNKING NOISE IS HORRIBLE AND THE POWER STEERING EVEN WENT OUT TEMPORARILY. THAT'S SCARY. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD PLACE TODAY AND THEY WANT $3000 TO FIX THE STEERING GEAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. ARE YOU GOING TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BEFORE YOU ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING GEAR????? I SEE THERE ARE ALREADY 94 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE STEERING ISSUE. YOU NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING GEAR. THIS IS SERIOUS. AND $3000 IS RIDICULOUS. I WANT SOME KIND OF DISCOUNT AND THIS ISN'T THE LAST YOU WILL HEAR FROM ME ON THIS MATTER IF I DON'T GET ONE.
I was driving my Ford Explorer and pulling a trailer behind it. I was about half way through a left hand turn at a major intersection when the power steering stopped working and my vehicle jerked hard to the right. Myself and my family were put at risk due to me barely being able to control the vehicle enough to avoid a collision with another vehicle, a telephone pole, and a curb after the steering system failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the entire steering system was replaced at the cost of $2,500 to my family. There were no indications of any problem before this occurred.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY THE ENGINE STOPPED. JUST QUIET, NO ACCELERATION. WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE LEFT SHOULDER AS THERE WAS TOO MUCH TRAFFIC TO CROSS 3 LANES TO THE RIGHT. TURNED OFF CAR, WHILE WAITING FOR ASSISTANCE (ABOUT 30-45 MINUTES), TRIED TO START CAR AND IT STARTED FINE, NO WRENCH LIGHT. FORD DEALERSHIP COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WHEN CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER. ADVANCED AUTO COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WHEN THEY RAN THEIR DIAGNOSTICS TEST TO IT. DROVE FINE. HAPPENED AGAIN 5 DAYS LATER, I TURNED OFF CAR, WAITED 5 MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO START CAR AGAIN AND NO WRENCH LIGHT. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS VERY COMMON IN THE 2016 MODELS.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT LOST POWER STEERING. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON STATING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FAULT THIS IS NOT NEW TO FORD EXPLORERS APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL 2011-2014. MY VEHICLE IS A 2015. IT IS A SHAME THAT FORD OR NATSA WOULD ALLOW THIS RISK TO CONTINUE. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO RECALL ANY VEHICLES IN ALL YEARS TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A WEEK ALREADY AND WHEN THEY TOLD ME THREE OTHER FORD EXPLORERS WERE FIXED LAST WEEK FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I GASPED THAT THIS IS NOT PART OF A RECALL.
OVER A PERIOD OF A FEW DAYS, I NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY TIGHT AS I MERGED INTO OTHER LANES OR MADE TURNS ON BOTH THE LOCAL ROADS AND HIGHWAY. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS TO INDICATE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL I COULD HAVE IT EVALUATED BY THE FORD DEALER. THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC IDENTIFIED A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING SHAFT ASSEMBLY AND SAID THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON ICY ROAD CONDITIONS, MY VEHICLE'S STEERING FAILED WITHOUT NOTICE. THANKFULLY I WAS DRIVING SLOWER DUE TO ROAD CONDITIONS. I WAS UNABLE TO STEER MY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD. THIS WAS THE STEERING GEAR THAT WENT CAUSING THE ISSUE. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD, I WAS TOLD IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. NOT OUR PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY A 2015.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, she heard an abnormal thumping sound coming from the passenger’s side front of the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that when she arrived at her destination, she observed that a part of the windshield trim was missing. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer; however, the missing trim panel was not replaced. The contact ordered the part and installed the trim. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that later the driver's side trim panel also detached from the vehicle and was replaced. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE23001 (Structure). The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

THERE ARE OFTEN ISSUES WITH THE RADIO AND HEATING SYSTEM. RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF BY ITSELF AND SO DOES THE HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING. IN ADDITION, I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT SOMETHING MAKING ME DIZZY AND NAUSEOUS IN THE VEHICLE. IN INFORMED THE FINANCE COMPANY REGARDING MY INABILITY TO BREATH, FOR WHICH I WAS HOSPITALIZED. I HAVE BEEN HOSPITALIZED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE AND HAVE INFORMED THE FINANCE. FURTHERMORE, THEY HAVE BEEN ADDITIONAL HOSPITALIZATIONS IN 2018, FOR WHICH I WILL HAVE TO UPLOAD THE DOCUMENTS AT A LATER TIME.
SUPPOSEDLY THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2017 ON THE SIDE WINDOW UPHOSTERY, I MADE A COMPLAINT TO FORD THAT WE NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION ON THIS BUT THEY INSISTED THAT IT WAS SENT
EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE CAME UNHINDERED AND IT MADE THE DOOR TO THE POINT IT CANNOT CLOSE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,682.

I PULLED INTO A COFFEE DRIVE THROUGH AND GOT MY COFFEE ORDER. UPON DRIVING AWAY AFTER A SHORT STOP IN DRIVE GEAR WHILE AT THE DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW, MY POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. I DROVE OUT OF THE PARKING LOT WHILE FIGHTING THE WHEEL TO STEER. I PULLED OVER AND PARKED AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING, THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. I JUST PURCHASED THIS SUV WITH 72000 MILES ON IT FROM A DEALER.
PAINT IS PEELING ON THE EDGE OF THE HOOD. TWO EXPLORERS 2015 FAMILY OWNS AND PEELING IN THE SAME LOCATION. CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD WE HAD TO BUY A NEW HOOD. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET SAYING THE SAME THING. THIS PAINT LESS HOOD NEEDS TO BE RECALLED DUE TO FACTORY FAULT OR REPAINTED HOW EVER FORD DOES IT. AROUND 2000.00 FOR A NEW ONE THEY TOLD US. PAINT SHOULD LAST MORE THEN 3 TO 4 YEARS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BRAD MANNING FORD (402 MANNING DRIVE, DEKALB, IL 60115, 815-756-63250) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT PAID FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE WITH HEATER ON IAM EXPERIENCING AN EXHAUST FUME SMELL I HAVE CONTACTED FORD IN REGARDS TO MY CAR THEY HAVE TOLD ME IT HAS HAD THE REPAIR DONE TO IT FOR CSP, BUT IAM STILL EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS 33364 MILES ON IT.

ALREADY HAD EXHAUST PROBLEM FIX BY DEALER...STILL HAVING ISSUES. THIS IS GETTING DANGEROUS.
I'VE RECENTLY NOTICED MY AIRBAG LIGHT ON IN MY VEHICLE DASHBOARD. I RAN A SCAN TOOL BUT NOTHING IS BEING PICKED UP BY THE SCANNER. NOT SURE WHAT I NEED TO DO NEXT. MY VEHICLE EXHIBITED A BUBBLING OR BLISTERING UNDER THE PAINT ON ALUMINUM BODY PARTS (HOOD). IT WAS STATED ON FORD'S TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS TSB 04-25-1, TSB # 06-25-15, AND THE LATEST TSB 16-0028 THAT THIS WAS DUE TO IRON CONTAMINATION OF THE ALUMINUM PANEL. FORD'S WARRANTY SHOWS TO BE 5YR/UNLIMITED MILEAGE. FOR NOT WANTING TO WARRANTY CORROSION ISSUE. WE NOTICED THE ISSUE ON THANKSGIVING 11/22/18, BUT FROM THE LOOKS OF THINGS, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE CORRODING HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME.
BLOWOUT OF TIRE ON THE HIGHWAY. WAS TRAVELLING AT 70 MPH ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE AT THE TIME. THE FAILED TIRE WAS A MICHELIN P245/60R18 LATITUDE TOUR. A CENTER STRIP OF THE TREAD APPEARED TO HAVE DELAMINATED. THE STRIP THAT DELAMINATED APPEARED TO BE APPROXIMATELY 4 " WIDE.
WAS DRIVING AND THE STEER WELL BECAME LOCK COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL, TRIED TO PUMP THE BRAKES AND THEY DIDN'T CATCH. END UP DRIVING RIGHT INTO A POLE AND THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY WITH EVERYONE HITTING THEIR HEADS AND KIDS GETTING CONCUSSIONS.
I DISCOVERED 5 INCHES OF STANDING WATER IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED. THERE IS NO CLEAR SOURCE OF THE LEAK ON MY INSPECTION BUT THE CARPETS ARE SOAKED AND THERE IS A SMELL OF MOLD AND MILDEW IN THE INTERIOR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN A FLOOD ZONE OR DRIVEN THROUGH STANDING WATER.
CAR HOOD PAINT IS BUBBLING AND PAINTING. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 33,000 MILES ON IT. FORD WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER THE MFGR WARRANTY SINCE THE IN SERVICE DATE IS OVER 3 YEARS.
PURCHASED VEHICLE IN AUG/SEP 2016 WITH NO ISSUES. HAD IT IN STORAGE FOR THE WINTER IN ILLINOIS WHILE I WAS DEPLOYED. TOOK IT OUT OF STORAGE IN JULY AND MOVED TO FLORIDA IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017. SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2018, UNTIL NOW I'VE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE DUE TO RUST. THE CAR IS 4 YRS OLD AND I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM, PART OF THE FRAME AND NOW HAVE A LOUD SCREECH COMING FROM MY RIGHT REAR WHEEL DUE TO THE RUST. ALL THAT IN THE PAST 10 MONTHS. I'VE TRIED TO VOICE MY COMPLAINTS WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY BUT THEY SEEM TO BELIEVE THAT RUST IS NORMAL WHEN DRIVEN ON SALTED HIGHWAYS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I'VE SPENT ALMOST $6K ON MY VEHICLE IN THE PAST 8 MONTHS AND FORSEE ANOTHER LARGE BILL WHEN I TAKE IT IN. IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING REPORTED ISSUES WITH THEIR EXPLORER SHOWING SIGNS OF RUST IN AN EXTREMELY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. I GREW UP IN NORTHERN MINNESOTA WHERE I DROVE MY 1996 T BIRD ON SALTED ROADS THE MAJORITY OF THE YEAR FROM 2003-2011 AND NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH RUST AT ALL. I FEAR THAT MY VEHICLE WASN'T TREATED PROPERLY DURING THE MANUFACTURING OF IT.
TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK WARNING ILLUMINATES/SOUNDS OCCASIONALLY, EVEN THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR INDICATES IT IS IN THE PARK POSITION. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN THIS OCCURS. SIMILAR TO PROBLEM WITH OUR 2015 FORD FUSION WHICH IS UNDER SAFETY RECALL.
