WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT, THEN THE NOTIFICATION SYSTEM SAID STEERING FAILURE PLEASE STOP, THE DRIVE SELECTOR FAILED AND THE BLINKERS FAILED ALL AT THE SAME TIME. AFTER STOPPING THE STEERING WAS UNTURNTABLE BY THE AVERAGE PERSON. HAD THIS FAILED AT FREEWAY SPEED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY IF NOT FATAL. AFTER TOWING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING WARRANTY WISE. THE VEHICLE HAS 37K MILES. THEY FAILURE WAS THE EPS AND THE RACK AND PINION HAD TO BE REPLACED. 2K DOLLARS. I READ ON THE INTERNET OF OVER 65 INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING ON THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL, ALL WITH LOW MILES.
MY WIFE HAS FOR A WHILE HEARD SOME NOISES FROM THE STEERING AND WE BELIEVED THIS TO BE A MINOR ISSUE. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE A NUMBER OF TIMES AND TO OUR SURPRISE THEY HAVE NOT FOUND ISSUES. NOW THE MILEAGE OF THE CAR (38K+) AND AGE (3Y+) IS BEYOND WARRANTY AND AT OUR LAST VISIT TO THE FORD DEALER WE WERE INFORMED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE "RACK AND PINION" AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1800 ! WE HAVE COMPLAINED AND THE DEALER WILL CHECK WITH FORD TO SEE IF THEY WILL COVER THIS. I URGE ALL FORD OWNERS TO HAVE THE RACK AND PINION CHECKED SPECIFICALLY BEFORE THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM.
AT APPROXIMATELY 57,000 MILES, MY COMPLETE STEERING MECHANISM FAILED AS I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWN A ROAD, WHILE OUT OF STATE ON A VACATION. BOTH OF MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE COMPLETE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED ($1,900.00). WHILE WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, I LOCATED A FORD RECALL HAD BEEN COMPLETED FOR THE PREVIOUS THREE OR FOUR MODEL YEARS (2011-2014) FOR THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY MODEL YEAR (2015) ISN'T INCLUDED. WE WERE ON A VACATION AND TRAVELED DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND GLAD THIS DIDN'T OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND REMAINED ON (STATIONARY AND IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS) AT ABOUT 61,000 MILES WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO GRAPEVINE FORD IN GRAPEVINE, TX AT 62,654 TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CAUSE WAS SECOND ROW OPEN HARNESS WITH CODES B141B AND B141C. CHECK OASIS FOUND TSB #16-001, APPLIED TO REPAIR. PER TSB, REPOSITIONED HARNESS AND REPLACED CONNECTORS. PER TSB, CLEARED CODES. THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED UNDER CPO WARRANTY WITH $100 DEDUCTIBLE.
STEERING FAILED AT 65 MPH NOT ALLOWING ME TURN THE VEHICLE. HURT WRIST TRYING TO AVOID OTHERS CARS.
WINDSHIELD TRIM ON FORD EXPLORER FLEW OFF ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING 70MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS ON SIX DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. IN ADDITION, THE ADVANCE TRAC SERVICE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A CURB. THERE WERE NO DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DARCARS FORD LANHAM (9020 LANHAM SEVERN RD, LANHAM, MD 20706, (301) 459-1100) AND WAS WAITING TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
US SERVICE MEMBER OVERSEAS (WHICH COMPLICATES THE SOLUTION). PURCHASED VEHICLE IN US IN AUGUST 2015. CURRENTLY ABOUT 45,000 MILES ON A 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT AND LOUD POP FROM STEERING COLUMN AT LOW SPEEDS. LOCAL MECHANIC SAYS ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS REPLACED AND OVER 2600 EURO ($3000). SHOULDN'T HAPPEN AT LOW MILES. OTHERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES ACROSS MODEL YEARS.
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST (EPAS) WENT OUT WHILE WHILE MY WIFE WAS MANUEVERING THROUGH A PARKING LOT ONE TIME AND WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ANOTHER TIME. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT RESULTED FROM EITHER OCCURENCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE GEAR INADVERTENTLY SHIFTED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO HOLD ON TO THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT STOPPED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURES TO THE HEAD, KNEES, AND BACK THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION AND THE PANORAMIC SUN ROOF SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PANORAMIC SUN ROOF WAS NOT STRUCK BY AN OBJECT PRIOR TO THE EXPLOSION. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,575.
THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM WENT ON THE FRITZ WHEN IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY HOT OUTSIDE. THIS CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO FALTER AND THE CAR TO BE ESSENTIALLY INOPERABLE. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, AND IT SEEMED TO HAPPEN ON EXTREMELY HOT DAYS. IT WOULD ALWAYS OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO NOT ONLY MYSELF, BUT OTHER MOTORISTS AS WELL. AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN THE STEERING WENT OUT THE CAR WAS HARD TO CONTROL, AND GOT EVEN WORSE AS MOMENTUM WAS LOST.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN STOPPED, HAVING TROUBLE PUTTING THE SHIFT IN PARK. SOMETIMES IT TAKES SEVERAL TRYS OF MOVING THE SHIFT INTO PARK BEFORE THE RED LIGHT GOES ON SO I CAN TURN IT OFF.
WINDSHIELD SEALS HAVE COME UN-AFFIXED. PROBLEM DISCOVERED WHILE DRIVING. AFTER REACHING SPEED OF 45MPH LOUD SOUNDS LIKE FOLLOWING A DUMP TRUCK DISPERSING ROCKS. SOUNDS INCREASED IN VOLUME AND INTENSITY BUT NOT VISIBLE WHILE DRIVING. LONG BLACK FRAME COVER ALSO LOOSE.
I WAS IN DOWNTOWN DES MOINES AND RECEIVED A "SERVICE STEERING FAULT NOW" WARNING. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE TO FIND A PARKING SPOT. WHILE PARALLEL PARKING, I RECIEVED THE WARNING AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. I WAS ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS AS A TRAIN WAS COMING AT THIS POINT. I CONTINUED TO TRY TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL ANYWAY I COULD TO AT LEAST GET OFF THE TRACKS. O FINALLY TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND GET OFF THE TRAIN TRACKS. WE THEN TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD IT FOR 3 DAYS. ALL THEY DID WAS RESET THE COMPUTER SYSTEM TELLING ME IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. WE THEN CONTACTED FORD XORP. AND THEY ALSO DID NOTHING BECAUSE THEY DIDNT SEE IT AS AN ISSUE. IF A COMPANY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS, HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO FEEL SAFE IN THEIR VEHICLES?
POWER STEERING LOCKS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. IT HAPPENED ABOUT A WEEK AGO, WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE NEXT DAY IT WAS OK. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS LAST FRIDAY JULY 6, 2018 ON A CITY STREET WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. IT IS PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY NOW, I WON'T DRIVE THE CAR ITS DANGEROUS.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A GRAVEL ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED A MESSAGE ADVISING THE POWER STEERING ASSIST HAD FAILED AND A SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WAS SHOWING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME, BUT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. LUCKILY, MY WIFE WAS NOT DRIVING DOWN A BUSY HIGHWAY OR IN A CURVE AS THAT WOULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN A BAD ACCIDENT. THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ADVISED THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY IS BAD.
WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT A KNOCKING SOUND CAN BE HEARD. TOOK VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HAVING A BAD STEERING GEAR AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $1600 PLUS TAX. THE VEHICLE HAS 35,766 MILES ON IT AND IS OVER THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY BY 5 MONTHS. FORD WOULD NOT GIVE ASSISTANCE ON REPLACING THE PART. SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THESE FAULTY STEERING COMPONENTS BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. POWER STEERING GEARS SHOULD NOT GO OUT WITH THAT FEW MILES. SEEING BY THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS PAGE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE.

THE CONTACT CALLED RONNIE WATKINS FORD, INC. (101 GEORGE WALLACE DR, GADSDEN, AL 35903) WHERE SHE WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR AND DECLINED THE OFFER. SHE THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR. AFTER THE SECOND FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD A FAMILY MEMBER DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HER RESIDENCE WHERE THE VEHICLE REMAINED PARKED UNREPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED HERLONG FORD, INC. (775 AUGUSTA RD, EDGEFIELD, SC 29824) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED HER TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST CONTROL FREEZES UP WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. THIS COULD RESULT IN AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE MUST BE PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE MUST BE TURNED OFF FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. WHEN RESTARTED, THE PROBLEM CEASES. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE MUST BE TURNED OFF FOR LONGER PERIODS THAN 10 MINUTES TO "RESET" THE PROBLEM. THIS ERROR HAS OCCURRED FIVE TIMES SINCE JANUARY OF 2016.

THE HOOD ON OUR 2015'S PAINT IS PEELING OFF. WE ARE TOLD THE SAME HOOD IS ON THE 2016 EXPLORER AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PAINT...WE HAVE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. HOW DO WE GET THIS REPAINTED.

CAR LOSES POWER. THIS HAPPENED ON MY 2011 FORD MUSTANG V6 THAT HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. CAR LOSES POWER SEVERAL TIMES A DAY NOW.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE DIAGNOSIS AND FAILURE CODE SPECIFICS AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE DOOR LOCKS IN THE CAR ARE FAILING ON ALL 4 DOORS. I HAVE REPLACED THE DOOR LOOK ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. NOW ALL THREE DOORS HAVE FAILED. ALSO WHEN I GO TO THE CAR WASH THE DRIVERS POWER SEAT STARTS MOVING WITHOUT PUSHING ANY BUTTONS. ALSO THE DRIVERS SIDE PANEL GLUE I HAD FAILED AND ALLOWS THE VINYL FROM THE SIDE OF THE DOOR TO COME OFF

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FREEWAY MOTORS OF ROGERS (14080 MAIN ST, ROGERS, MN 55374, (763) 428-8488) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
DURING ACCELERATION INTO INTERSTATE THERE IS A "BURNT MATCH" TYPE SMELL IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. ONCE SPEED LEVELS OUT THE SMELL DISAPPEARS. I FIRST NOTICED THIS ABOUT A MONTH AGO BUT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED AND THIS WAS ONLY THE SECOND OR THIRD TIME TO HAVE IT ON THE INTERSTATE SINCE I PURCHASED IT.
2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT EXHAUST IN THE CABIN I BEGAN SMELLING RAW EXHAUST WHEN I WOULD FIRST START MY CAR, THE AIR BLOWING THOUGH MY VENTS. I WOULD ROLL MY WINDOWS DOWN BECAUSE IT MADE ME IMMEDIATELY NAUSEOUS, AS I DROVE THE SMELL WOULD GO AWAY AND ROLL MY WINDOWS BACK UP. THE SMELL ONLY WENT AWAY FOR A FEW MINUTES AS THE CABIN RESATURATED WITH EXHAUST SMELL. I STARTED TROUBLESHOOTING AND FOUND WHEN I TURNED ON RECIRCULATION WHILE DRIVING THE SMELL SUBSIDED. THIS ONLY WORKED WHILE DRIVING AND USING LESS THAN HALF THROTTLE. I WOULD SMELL A ROTTEN EGG SMELL WHEN I WOULD USE PART TO FULL THROTTLE ANYWHERE I WAS TRAVELING. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED THE EXHAUST COMPLAINT REPAIR. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR THE LAST FEW DAYS FROM GETTING IT BACK THERE HAS BEEN NO DIFFERENCE. AS THE WEATHER HEATS UP I AM USING AIR CONDITIONING MORE AND HAVE BEEN STARTING TO GET HEADACHES, NAUSEOUS AND LOSE OF ENERGY. MY COWORKER RODE WITH ME TODAY AND COMPLAINED WITHIN THE FIRST MINUTE OF DRIVING THAT EXHAUST SMELL WAS PRESENT IN THE CAR AND WAS GETTING A HEADACHE. I ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS AND HAVE NOT USED THE CLIMATE CONTROL. I WILL NOT BE USING THE CLIMATE CONTROL UNTIL THIS IS FIXED, I DO NOT WANT TO BE ANOTHER VICTIM OF A SERIOUS INJURY ACCIDENT OR DEATH.
MY WIFE AND I ARE GETTING DIZZY AND MY WIFE IS GETTING SEVERE HEADACHES. WE BOTH NOTICE A STRONG NATURAL GAS SMELL IN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING TODAY (06-02-18) I SMELLED IT FIRST AND DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO HER. ABOUT 30 MILES LATER SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE SMELLS GAS. IF THIS CONTINUES WE WILL GO TO THE ER AT OUR HOSPITAL TO GET CHECKED FOR CARBON MONOXIDE. WE WILL ALSO CONTACT THE DEALER ON MONDAY. WE JUST GOT BACK FROM FLORIDA IN WHICH WE DROVE A TOTAL OF 2700 MILES. THE VACATION WAS FROM 05-19 THRU 05-28-2018. IT HEADACHES/DIZZINESS STARTED ABOUT 2 DAYS BEFORE OUR TRIP.
TAKATA RECALL INVOLVING VEHICLES IN SOUTHERN FLORIDA FOR A SIMILAR FORD VEHICLE
80,000 MILEAGE STARTING WITH STEERING NOISY AND CLICK NOISY SOMETIME . POWERTRAIN LOOSES WHEN PARKING AND HARD TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that rainwater was discovered inside the cabin of the vehicle on the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. Upon inspection, it was determined that a section of the front windshield seal had dry rotted allowing the rainwater to enter the vehicle and causing the front windshield to be unsecured. The cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 95,000.
MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. MECHANIC SAYS THE STEERING MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

THE DEALER (CASA FORD, 5815 MONTANA AVE, EL PASO, TX 79925, (915) 779-2272) WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND ASKED THE CONTACT TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH THEM FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING ON A RESPONSE TO DETERMINE IF THE MANUFACTURER COULD PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
ASIDE FROM THE DOOR PANEL COMING APART (A RECALL), MY PROBLEM IS THE TRIM ON THE ARMREST IS COMING APART. I HAVE SEEN OTHERS POSTING THE SAME ISSUE. MY CAR ONLY HAS 35000 MILES.
ONE INSTANCE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY LEFT SIDE WINDSHIELD RUBBER SEAL STARTS FLAPPING AGAINST SIDE WINDOW THEN EVENTUALLY FLIES OFF. NEXT WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY THE WINDSHIELD SIDE TRIM BREAKS OFF. NOW THE RIGHT SIDE TRIM HAS RIPPED & FLOWN OFF ON FREEWAY. WHICH WILL MEAN THE TRIM WILL PROBABLY BREAK AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING LOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE LANES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (JACK BOWKER FORD LINCOLN, 2415 N 14TH ST, PONCA CITY, OK 74601) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. *TT
THIS WAS THE 3RD TIME IT HAD HAPPENED. ON 5/11/2018 THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP IN THE PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY LIKE BEFORE. WE HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALERSHIP VERIFIED THAT IT WAS LOCKED UP AND THE CODES WERE STILL DISPLAYING ON THE DASH. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE CODES THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WELL WHEN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED WE WENT TO PICK IT UP. IT WAS REPORTED BY THE DEALER THAT A SENSOR HAD SHORTED OUT ON THE COLUMN CAUSING THE ISSUE. SO MY WIFE AND I DID NOT!!! FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AFTER THIS KNOWING THAT IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. NOT A GOOD FEELING.
VEHICLE HAS LESS THAT 65,000 MILES AND THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING ASSIST SHUTS DOWN MAKING THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO TURN. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE ON THE FREEWAY GOING 50 MPH MAKING IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS NO POWER ASSIST TO HELP WITH STEERING AT ALL.
I NOTICED SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING, IN ME WHEN I DROVE MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT, I COMPLAINED WHEN I TOOK MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT, BACK SEVERAL TIMES, TO RICH FORD SERVICE, SINCE THE DELIVERY OF MY FORD EXPLORER SPORT FROM, MONDAY MAY 7, 2018 AND AGAIN I RETURNED MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT BACK TO RICH FORD MAY 2018 I COMPLAINED TO MR. TIM SLOAN ABOUT THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING, MR. TIM SLOAN CALLED ME AROUND 12:00 WEDNESDAY MAY 9, 2018 THAT THE 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT IS READY FOR PICK UP, TIM SLOAN SAID THAT (RICH FORD SERVICE DROVE IT AROUND FOR 40 MILES, AND RICH FORD SERVICE PERSONS, COULD NOT SMELL THE 'CO' PROBLEM) I INFORMED TIM THAT 'CO' IS CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING 'CO' 'SILENT KILLER.' IS ACTUALLY ODORLESS, COLORLESS, TASTELESS, AND IT CANNOT BE NOTICED WITHOUT A 'CO' DETECTOR OR 'CO' METER,
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND THE CAR BEEPED A WARNING STATING STEERING MALFUNCTION AND MY WHEEL JUST LOCKED. I WAS IN MY CAR WITH MY WIFE AND TWO KIDS. I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY BLINKERS AND STARTED HONKING, LUCKILY EVERYONE AROUND ME REALIZED MY CAR WAS IN TROUBLE AND SAFELY MADE IT OFF THE HIGHWAY. SOMETHING LIKE THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU CANNOT CONTROL A CAR AT 60 MPH
AT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SPEED 80MPH MY POWER STEERING WAS LOST. I HAD TWO WARNINGS POP UP AS IT WENT OUT; STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK. THERE WAS NOT ANY WARNING AT ALL. THIS WAS NOT A TYPICAL POWER STEERING LOSS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS WITH OLDER VEHICLES I HAVE HAD. I HAD TO PUT NEARLY MY FULL BODY WEIGHT OF 300 LBS INTO STEERING TO A SAFE PLACE. HAD THIS HAPPENED TO OTHERS THIS VERY WELL COULD HAVE BEEN A HIGH SPEED IMPACT INTO A WALL WITH THIS LOSS. I AM HAVING THIS VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER AFTER ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING IT TO SEE IF A RESET MAY BE NEEDED AS SOME CODES RESET THIS WAY.
WHILE MY CAR WAS OFF AND PARKING IN A PARKING LOT, MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR AND GOT OUT OF HER CAR SEAT TO GET HER BEAR THAT HAD FALLEN ONTO THE FLOORBOARD IN FRONT OF THE 2ND ROW BUCKET SEAT. SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE METAL RAILS TO THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT ARE EXPOSED UNDER THE SEAT IN THE BACK. SHE WAS BLEEDING PROFUSELY AND I HAD TO CALL THE PARAMEDICS. SHE ENDED UP GETTING HER HEAD STAPLED DUE TO THE VERY SHARP METAL ON THE RAILS THAT ATTACH TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE OTHER SIDE THAT IS CLOSER TO THE DOOR HAS A PLASTIC PIECE TO PROTECT FROM THE SHARP EDGES, THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS THE SAME SET UP. OBVIOUSLY FORD KNEW THE METAL WAS SHARP SO THEY PUT THE PROTECTOR ON IT, BUT FAILED TO PUT IT ON BOTH SIDES.
WE BEGAN TO SMELL EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN OF OUR VEHICLE. IT GOT STRONGER THE LONGER THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING, AND ESPECIALLY WHEN IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT OR SIMILAR. IT BEGAN TO CAUSE HEADACHES WHILE DRIVING AND WE HAD TO DRIVE WITH WINDOWS DOWN NO MATTER THE TEMPERATURE OR SPEED. BECAUSE OF THE KNOWN RECALL, WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE (MALLOY FORD IN WINCHESTER, VA) TO REPAIR. THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE BUT IT STILL PERSISTS SO NOW WE WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK. I AM NOT SURE AN ACTUAL FIX EXISTS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DCH FORD OF THOUSAND OAKS (LOCATED AT 3810 THOUSAND OAKS BLVD, WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA 91362, (805) 409-3895) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR FILTER WAS FAULTY. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE REPAIRS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
