WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED ON, YOU BEGIN TO SMELL A 'ROTTEN' SMELL, WHICH HAS BEEN DETERMINED AS THE EXHAUSTED. WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION IT CONTINUES TO SMELL OF EXHAUST TO THE POINT IT WILL CAUSE NAUSEA. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF THE SMELL WILL SUBSIDED.
THIS PARTICULAR CAR WAS IN RECALL FOR CARBON MONOXIDE, ABOUT TWO MONTHS AFTER POSSIBLY FIXED FROM A DEALER, STRONG SMELL COMING FROM CABIN LEFT ME WITH A HEAD ACHE, STIFF NOISE, I'M REALLY WORRIED THIS MIGHT COST ME A FORTUNE, I CALLED DEALER THEY ASKED TO BRING IT THEY INFORMED ME THEY WILL CHARGE ME $138 FOR DIAGNOSING AND WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH FROM THERE.
WHEN VEHICLE PLACE IN PARK POSITION IT INTERMITTENTLY INDICATES THAT IT IS NOT IN PARK IN THE VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM AND WHILE THE ENGINE TURNS OFF, THE REST OF THE VEHICLE ELECTRONICS STAYS ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. DEALER INDICATES THIS IS A PROBLEM THEY DO KNOW ABOUT AND IT HAPPENS OFTEN BUT THERE IS NO RECALL OR TSB. REPLACED SHIFT LEVER TO REPAIR
WE ARE EXPERIENCING FRUSTRATION IN GETTING A RESOLUTION TO NOXIOUS EXHAUST FUMES THAT ENTER THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS MOST NOTABLY UPON ACCELERATION (SUCH AS WHEN YOU ENTER THE INTERSTATE AND QUICKLY ACCELERATE). WE HAVE GONE TO A LOCAL REPAIR, CALLED A LOCAL DEALER, CHANGED OUT AIR AND CABIN FILTERS, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FUMES ARE HORRIBLE. WE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A USED CAR LOT IN THE SPRING OF 2018 AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET SOMETHING DONE FROM THE BEGINNING OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE.
AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN OPERATING VEHICLE. DEALER INDICATED THAT IT IS A WIRING CONNECTOR PROBLEM, BUT NOT COVERED UNDER BASIC EXTENDED WARRANTY. KNOWN ISSUE WITH A TSB 16-0001 ISSUED TO FIX PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE AN CONSIDERED AS A RECALL AS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT IS NOT A "WEAR & TEAR" SITUATION.
2015 FORD EXPLORER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ONGOING EXHAUST ISSUES. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. *JS
CABIN IS FILLING WITH EXTREMELY INTENSE SMELL OF CARBON MONOXIDE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE AS YOU CAN NOT STAY IN IT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR JUST DRIVING AROUND TOWN (5-10 MILES PER HOUR) OR IF YOU TRY TO GO ON A HIGHWAY (40-60 MPH). IT JUST GETS WORSE. AFTER A BRIEF TIME YOU GET LIGHTHEADED AND NAUSEATED. I HAD THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER A FEW MONTHS AGO TO SUPPOSEDLY FIX THE PROBLEM. WHATEVER THEY DID CERTAINLY DIDN'T WORK AS IT HAS NOW GOTTEN TO THIS POINT.
WITHIN THE FIRST, ORIGINAL, 2000 MILES OF DRIVING MY NEW 2015 FORD EXPLORER MY FAMILY AND I HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO AN ODER THAT IS SIMILAR TO MELTING PLASTIC, BURNING HAIR OR ENGINE EXHAUST FUMES IN ROW PASSENGER CABIN WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AFTER HIGH RPM ACCELERATION OR DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. IN RELATION TO THIS SMELL IS ARE SYMPTOMS OF HEADACHE, TIREDNESS, AND OR NAUSEA. I HAVE BROUGHT VEHICLE TO MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS, THE LAST TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE CAR FOR OVER 4 WEEKS! WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT NECESSARY REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. BUT THE VEHICLE AND MY FAMILY ARE STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. VEHICLE NOW HAS JUST OVER 23000 MILES ON IT. SINCE BUYING VEHICLE I HAVE HAD A NUMBER EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS THAT WERE NOT CONCLUSIVE AND AFTER READING FINDINGS BY THIS AGENCY AND OTHERS NOW BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A CONNECTION TO MY FORD EXPLORER, AND WE ARE SUFFERING FROM PROLONGED CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING!
STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN MOTION RESULTING IN A CLOSE CALL WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTION HAVING ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO INTERSTATE RAMP, EVIDENTLY A MAJOR SAFETY RISK, DUE TO ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK DESIGN ISSUE. ESTIMATE OF OVER $2,253.00 REPAIR WITH $1,343.00 PART AT LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP.---THANKS,
SINCE AROUND 40000 MILES, POWER STEERING WILL HAVE A LOUD CLICK AND POP WITH ALL TURNS. SINCE 50000 MILES, DURING THE TURN, THE POWER STEERING WILL LOCK AND THE DRIVER WILL HAVE TO PULL HARD TO CHANGE TURN RADIUS. TOOK IT TO FORD - ENTIRE EPAS (ELECTRONIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE AT 50000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE VEHICLE IN PARK, IT DID NOT REGISTER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAT IT WAS IN PARK GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR THE PAST FOUR MONTHS. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH CUIRK FORD IN QUINCY, MASSACHUSETTS FOR MARCH 6, 2018 FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,105.
"AIRBAG RECALL "THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME WHEN I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TO START VEHICLE ABOUT TWO DAYS AGO.
2015 EXPLORER SPORT - HAVE A BINDING, POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. POPS BEFORE COMPLETING A FULL TURN AT FULL STOP AND WILL POP MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN DOING A K-TURN OR RIGHT TURN AT SLOW SPEED. HAD THRUST WASHER, NUTS, AND OTHER ITEMS REPLACED NOV 2017 AT 34776 MILES, NOW AT 38000 AND ITS BACK AND OF COURSE TECHS CAN'T DUPLICATE. I ALSO WENT TO DEALER AND DROVE AFTER THEY ROTATED TIRES AND CHANGED THE OIL AND COULDN'T. NEXT MORNING IN DRIVING ITS DOING IT AGAIN, BUT ONE POP AT A TIME AT FULL STOP. THIS MUST BE A DEFECT BECUASE I HAD THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM IN MY 2013 EXPLORER. MY WARRENTY IS UP AND I NEED THIS FIXED AS I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE WITH CONFIDENCE.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE CAR WITH MY TWO CHILDREN ON ROUTE 193 IN MARYLAND (NOT A HIGHWAY BUT A BUSY ROAD), THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING, AN ERROR APPEARED ON THE SCREEN THAT SAID "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ERROR", A WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND THE LIGHT ON THE TMS KNOB WENT OUT (CAR HAD FULL TANK OF GAS). I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED IT AND THE ERROR INDICATORS WERE GONE. IT THEN DROVE WITH NO PROBLEMS. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM. AFTER CHARGING US $175 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, THEY TOLD US THAT THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO CODES WERE STORED IN THE COMPUTER SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WE PICKED UP THE CAR AND BROUGHT IT HOME. SUNDAY MORNING, ONCE AGAIN IT ABRUPTLY STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES APPEARED. THE TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ERROR ONLY APPEARED FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND WAS THEN REPLACED WITH A WRENCH ERROR ON THE SCREEN. THIS TIME I TOOK PICTURES IN THE HOPES THAT IT MIGHT HELP THE DEALER PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. I THEN CUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AGAIN. IT DROVE WITH NO PROBLEMS AGAIN BUT WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE CAR AT THE DEALER ON TUESDAY BECAUSE CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM. I SHOWED THE PICTURES AND WAS TOLD, IN ORDER FOR ANYTHING TO BE FIXED, THEY HAVE TO BE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND BECAUSE WHEN I RESTART THE CAR THE ERROR CODES ARE DELETED FROM THE HISTORY, THERE'S NOTHING FOR THE DEALER TO DO. I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY (2/14/18) AND AGAIN WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM COULDN'T BE REPLICATED SO NO FIX IS AUTHORIZED. I UNDERSTAND WANTING TO DIAGNOSE THE CORRECT PROBLEM, HOWEVER THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. BOTH TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED I HAVE BEEN WITH MY KIDS AND THANKFULLY IN PLACES WHERE I COULD SAFELY PULL OVER BUT WHAT IF IT HAPPENS WHILE I AM ON A HIGHWAY OR IN AN INTERSECTION?
WHEN MY CAR IS IN ANY KIND OF TURN YOU HEAR A POPPING NOISE . NOT VERY LOUD BUT NOTICEABLE. ALSO WHEN ON A INCLINE OR DECLINE A CRUNCHING NOISE CAN BE HEARD. MY SON BORROWED MY CAR LAST WEEKEND AND NOTICED IT. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY OF COURSE CANNOT REPLICATE THIS NOISE. WITH ALL OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE I AM APPALLED THAT FORD HAS NOT LOOKED INTO THIS. I GUESS NOT ENOUGH DEATHS OR SERIOUS INJURIES HAVE OCCURRED YET FOR IT TO BE ON THEIR RADAR.
WHEN IDLING OR DRIVING SLOW THROUGH TOWN A STRONG SURFER/ROTTEN EGG SMELL FILLS THE CABIN OF VEHICLE HAS GIVEN MY GIRLFRIEND AND I BOTH EXTREME HEADACHES AND NAUSEA AND MADE HER 11 YR OLD DAUGHTER THROW UP ALONG WITH A HEADACHE SHORTLY AFTER AS WELL. WASN'T AS BAD WHEN WE FIRST GOT THE VEHICLE BUT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE OR LOCK THE DOORS WITH THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROWN FORD INC. (420 MERRICK RD, LYNBROOK, NY 11563, (516) 599-0600) TO BE DIAGNOSED BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE OF VEHICLE UPON ACCELERATION. ELEVATED LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE (TESTED WITH METER) DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE. I MUST OPEN WINDOWS INSIDE OF VEHICLE FREQUENTLY TO VENT THE EXHAUST FUMES, AND TO TRY TO DECREASE CO LEVELS IN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THIS CONDITION HAS EXISTED SINCE THE FIRST DAY OF OWNERSHIP, AUGUST 8, 2016. I STILL OWN THIS VEHICLE AS OF TODAY, JANUARY 30, 2018.

THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. AFTER THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE REGAINED NORMAL FUNCTION. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MARSHAL MIZE FORD (5348 HIGHWAY 153, HIXSON, TENNESSEE 37343, PHONE 888-633-5038). THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
WITH 51,000 MILES AND JUST OVER 3 YEARS ON THE CAR, THE STEERING GEAR BOX FAILED WITH POPPING NOISE OCCURRING ANYTIME THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. GOT WORSE QUICKLY AND HAD TO GET IT FIXED. VERY EXPENSIVE BUT ALSO VERY SCARY FOR MY SAFETY. I ALWAYS TAKE CARE OF MY CARS AND KEEP THEM FOR 7-10 YEARS.
I AM A NEW FORD OWNER. I BOUGHT MY USED FORD EXPLORER (VIN# [XXX]) ON 12/26/17. RIGHT NOW I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY FORD EXPLORER. MY ENTIRE FAMILY ( MY 2 KIDS, MY WIFE AND MYSELF ) HAS BEEN GETTING NAUSEOUS AND DIZZINESS LAST COUPLE WEEKS. I INSTALLED A MONOXIDE OF CARBON DETECTOR IN THE CAR AND IT DOESN'T STOP GOING OFF, IT BUZZES EVERY 60 SECONDS. OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAD TRIED MANY TIMES TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE FOR MY CAR ONLINE AND OVER THE PHONE BUT FORD DEALERS ARE NOT COOPERATING. MOONROOF LEAK FOLLOWED BY MONROOF BEING STUCK OPEN. AFTER A CAR WASH AT OUR PURCHASING DEALER, WE NOTICED WATER DRIPPING FROM THE LIGHTS ABOVE THE CENTER CONSOLE IN PROXIMITY TO THE MONROOF SWITCHES. UPON TESTING THE SWITCHES, THE MOONROOF OPENED BUT WOULD NOT CLOSE AGAIN. THE POWERSHADE OPERATES FINE, BUT THE MOONROOF IS STUCK OPEN (IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER IN MICHIGAN). THE LIGHTS OPERATE FINE. LUCKILY FOR US, WE ARE UNDER THE INITIAL FACTORY WARRANTY. THIS IS A 2015 EXPLORER WITH 29900 MILES. WE BOUGHT IT USED ON SATURDAY AND THIS HAPPENED SATURDAY AFTERNOON ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE FORD DEALER.
I TOOK MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER IN BECAUSE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT DOOR PANELS. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO FORD AUTONATION WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND ALL THEY DID WAS RIP MY PANELS OFF AND TRIED TO RESTAPLE IT. NO EVEN A WEEK LATER IT STARTING COMING OFF AGAIN SO I TOOK IT BACK AND SAID THIS IS A RECALL, Y'ALL NEED TO REPLACE IT AND THEY SAID NO THAT'S ALL THIER GONNA DO
EXHAUST ODORS IN VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING WITH HEAT OR A.C. ON CAUSING BREATHING DISCOMFORT AND EYE IRRITATION.
I WAS DRIVING AND WHILE TURNING I LOST STEERING ASSIST CONTROLS. NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. I ALL MOST CRASHED IN MID TURN.
EXHAUST ODOR SMELL INSIDE THE CABINET
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the driver's side and passenger’s side front door panels were cracked. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, and stated there was no recall or warranty coverage for the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
CARBON MONOXIDE COMING INTO VEHICLE. FORD SAYS IT'S NOT DANGEROUS AND THEY ARE WAITING ON PARTS. BOUGHT A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR AND IT WENT OFF IN VEHICLE. CHILD NAUSEAUS. OWNER NAUSEAUS A FEW TIMES AND EXTREMELY SLEEPY . TIREDNESS AND NAUSEA WENT AWAY SHORTLY AFTER GETTING OUT OF VEHICLE. DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS RELATED UNTIL I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A RECALL AND THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO ORDER PARTS FOR A SAFETY CONCERN.
STOPPED IN THE STREET TO DO A U-TURN, STARTED MY TURN AND LOST STEERING. DROVE INTO A CURB, GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND DISCOVERED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD SNAPPED IN HALF.
2015 FORD EXPLORER WITH CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE CABIN OF OUR VEHICLE MAKING US VERY SICK FOR 2 1/2 YEARS. FORD DEALERSHIP (STERLING FORD OPELOUSAS, LA) HAS BEEN TELLING US ALL OF THAT TIME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE. WE HAD A SMOKE TEST PERFORMED ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM OF OUR VEHICLE AND FOUND 3 EXHAUST LEAKS THAT ARE RELEASING EXHAUST FUMES THAT CONTAIN CARBON MONOXIDE. WE HAVE PROOF! WE ALSO HAVE PROOF OF THE CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE OF OUR VEHICLE! SO FORD OBVIOUSLY HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS ON OUR VEHICLE. ALL OF THIS CARBON MONOXIDE IS THEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE WITH ALL OF THE OVER 80 ENTRY POINTS THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED. PLEASE PUT A PORTABLE HAND HELD CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR IN YOUR VEHICLE, NOT A HOME DETECTOR! THESE HOME DETECTORS DO NOT REGISTER THE CARBON MONOXIDE IMMEDIATELY. FORD NEEDS TO HAVE TO BUYBACK ALL OF THESE ROLLING GAS CHAMBERS FOR A FULL REFUND TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS IS FRAUD WHAT FORD IS DOING. THE FORD EXECUTIVES THAT ARE MAKING STATEMENTS THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE SAFE TO DRIVE, NEED TO GO TO JAIL! FORD PLEASE STOP LYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS ABOUT THESE VERY SERIOUS ISSUES. DO THOSE SAME FORD EXECUTIVES DRIVE A FORD WITH CARBON MONOXIDE IN THEM? THEY NEED TO! WE ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT SPENDING THIS MUCH MONEY ON A VEHICLE WE CAN'T EVEN USE! MUCH LESS KILLING US!
THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF WHAT I COULD ONLY AT FIRST DESCRIBE AS NATURAL GAS OR PROPANE (ROTTEN EGGS) ENTERING THE CABIN. IT WAS COMPOUNDED WHEN I PUT TURNED THE CABIN HEAT ON. WITH WINTER UPON US THE SMELL ENTERS THE HEATING DUCTS MAKING IT NEARLY UNBEARABLE. FURTHERMORE WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL ACCELERATION ON A MINOR ROAD THERE WAS AN AUDIBLE POP (AS IF A HOSE BENEATH THE ENGINE CAME OFF) AND A FLUTTERING NOISE WITH LOSS OF POWER. I AM ASSUMING A TURBO OR WASTE GATE HOSE CAME OFF ON ITS OWN. ONCE THE HOSE POPPED OFF THE SMELL WAS UNDENIABLY SINGED MOTOR OIL. AFTER 30 YEARS OF DOING OIL CHANGES I CAN ASSURE YOU IT IS THE SMELL OF BURNING MOTOR OIL. I HAVE SEEN MANY SUCH ODOR COMPLAINTS ON THE 3.5 LITRE ECO BOOST TURBO. THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM AFFECTING MANY IF NOT ALL TURBO ECO BOOST ENGINES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS DANGEROUS NOXIOUS SINGED OIL ODOR. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN MAY 2017 AS A CERTIFIED USED CAR, IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I AM AVAILABLE TO ASSIST IN ANY WAY TO HELP WITH THE INVESTIGATION. I AM AN OWNER OF A VEHICLE WITH THE TAKATA RECALL, THIS CONDITION AND NAUSEATING SMELL IS FAR FAR WORSE. PLEASE HELP.
FORD EXPLORERS EXHAUST LEAK OF CARBON MONOXIDE. WHILE DRIVING I'VE EXPERIENCED LIGHT HEADEDNESS, HEAD ACHES AND FEELING FAINT.
THERE IS A BAD EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. MOSTLY WHEN THE HVAC IS ON DEFROST. UPON INSPECTION, THERE SEEMS TO BE A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THIS SMELL HAPPENS THE STRONGEST WHEN IT'S COLDER OUT, AT IDLE, AND WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT FELT NAUSEOUS, SLEEPY, AND HAD HEADACHES. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FUTURE FORD LINCOLN (650 AUTOMALL DR, ROSEVILLE, CA 95661, (888) 656-7577) AND WAS SERVICED PER FORD REFERENCE NUMBER: 17N03 REGARDING THE CARBON MONOXIDE CONCERN. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE PLUGS AND REAR HATCH SEALS, USED FOILED PATCHES ON THE PLUGS ABOVE THE MUFFLER, REPLACED THE DRAIN VALVE, AND REPROGRAMMED THE HVAC SYSTEM. UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT STILL FELT ILL IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,706.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. I HAD THIS IN FOR SERVICE ON 1/31/17 WITH 31,455. NOW THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK.
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON & STAYS ON FROM TIME TO TIME, THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON & OFF FOR ABOUT THE LAST 10 MONTHS. TOO MY VEHICLE IN FOR THIS ISSUE TO BE CHECKED A COUPLE TIMES BUT SINCE THE LIGHT WENT OFF TECH WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. FINALLY YESTERDAY I WAS ABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHILE THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I AM STILL IN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD 5YR/60,000 MILES BUT APPARENTLY WHATEVER REPAIR MY SYSTEM NEEDS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY IS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH THE MANUAL STATES THAT MY VEHICLES SAFETY BELTS & AIRBAG SYSTEM ARE COVERED FOR AN EXTENDED SAFETY RESTRAINT COVERAGE PERIOD. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN & FROM WHAT I'VE RESEARCHED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD. IF I DON'T PAY $800 MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE VENT I HAD AN ACCIDENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT WAS PLACED IN THE MIDDLE ROW SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (FRONTIER FORD, 3701 STEVENS CREEK BLVD, SANTA CLARA, CA 95051) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE A DIAGNOSTIC FEE FOR THE SERVICE. THE CONTACT DECLINED TO PAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
MY TRUCK WHEN IN MOTION WITH VENTILATION SYSTEM ON A/C OR HEAT GOING IN HIGHWAY SPEED AND SOME RESIDENTIAL SPEED THE VENTS KICKS OUT FUMES CARBON , EGGS SMELL ,AND GAS SMELL THAT HAS AFFECT MY ABILITY WHEN I OPERATE TRUCK
THE INTERMITTENT WIPERS TURN ON BY THEMSELVES OR UNABLE TO TURN THEM OFF. THIS CAUSES THE DRIVER TO FOCUS ON TRYING TO TURN THEM OFF, WHILE TAKING YOUR EYES OF THE ROADWAY.
EXPLORER EXHAUST LEAK. CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE PASSENGER CABIN. AT VARIOUS AND CONSISTENT TIMES THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE OR ROTTEN EGGS IN THE PASSENGER CABIN. THIS CAUSES NAUSEOUSNESS AND HEADACHES. A LOCAL FORD DEALER 'HENDERSON FORD' COMPLETED RECALL 17N03 ON THE VEHICLE WHICH STATES, 'INSTALLED LID GATE DRAIN VALVES, AND REPROGRAMMING CLIMATE CONTROL MODULE.' THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. STILL GETTING CO ODOR AND FUMES IN CABIN. UPON RETURN I LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE HENDERSON DEALERSHIP FOR THE DAY. THEY SAID THEY BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO.
I KEEP SMELLING EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL GOF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CAR. OPENED THE WINDOWS TO CHECK. IT WAS NOT AN OUTSIDE SMELL. HAD TO DRIVE WITH WINDOWS DOWN AS IT WAS GIVING ME A HEADACHE AND NAUSEA. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND WE CANE OUT OF THE CAR THERE WAS STRONG EXHAUST SMELL ALL AROUND THE CAR
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY FORD EXPLORER I NOTICED THE SMELL OF EXAUST ENTERING THE CABIN. INITIALLY I THOUGHT WAS OTHER CARS AROUND ME. AFTER EXSPERIENCING SEVERAL HEADACHES I THEN DECIDED TO CHECK THE VEHICLE FOR CARBON MONOXIDE AND IT WAS PRESENT.
SMELLING EXHAUST INSIDE THE CAB AT RANDOM TIMES ON RANDOM DAYS. MAINLY HAPPENS DURING ACCELERATION AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. IT'S SLOWLY GETTING WORSE EVERY OTHER WEEK
FORD EXPLORER CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE. THE CABIN OF MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER FILLS WITH CARBON MONOXIDE ANYTIME I HAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN AND I ACCELERATE. I HAVE A CO MONITOR IN THE CAR AND CAN WATCH IT AS IT GOES UP WITHIN SECONDS OF ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD THE CAR INTO TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS AND HAD THE CURRENT TSB PERFORMED AS WELL AS THE LATEST REPROGRAMMING OF THE HVAC SYSTEM WHICH DID REDUCE THE CO FROM INSIDE THE CABIN WHILE THE WINDOWS ARE UP, HOWEVER AS SOON AS A WINDOW IS CRACKED THE CARBON MONOXIDE LEVELS RISE. WITH ANY AMOUNT OF ACCELERATION THEY TEND TO RANGE BETWEEN 21- 33PPM IN THE CABIN.
A BLIND SPOT SENSOR WARNING CAME ON SUNDAY 10-29 AT 10:30AM ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SENSOR WHILE AT A RED LIGHT. APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES LATER, THE CAR BEGAN SWERVING AND VEERED SUDDENLY TO THE RIGHT HITTING A CURB. WE CONTINUED SWERVING AND HIT THE CURB ANOTHER 3 TIMES AND CAME TO A STOP. THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND WE WERE IN 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BROKEN REAR SUSPENSION TOW LINK. A RECAL WAS ISSUED 4/26/16 STATING THE TOW LINK MAY FRACTURE AND ACCORDING TO FORD, MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IN JANUARY 2017, MY REAR HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY WENT OUT AND AND WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY AND HAS SINCE BEEN ANNOUNCED AS A RECALL ON 8/28/17
THE POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 7-8 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. THE WORST TIME WAS WHEN IT FAILED IN A SLOW, TIGHT TURN. WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED THE STEERING SELF ALIGNED BACK TO STRAIGHT. THIS HAPPENED IN MY KID'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARKING LOT. IT EASILY COULD HAVE LED TO A BAD ACCIDENT OR HITTING A PEDESTRIAN BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WENT IN AN UNINTENDED DIRECTION. THE ATTACHED PICTURE IS FROM ONE OF THE OTHER 7-8 TIMES THIS OCCURRED, THUS THE MISMATCH IN MILEAGE FROM THE PICTURE AND THAT LISTED IN THE COMPLAINT.
ONCOMING CARS ARE CONSTANTLY FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS AT ME BECAUSE THEY THINK THAT MY HEADLIGHTS ARE ON HIGH BEAM. I TOOK MY EXPLORER TO LANDMARK FORD IN TIGARD OREGON TO HAVE THEM VERIFY THAT THE LIGHTS WERE ADJUSTED PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING MEET SPECIFICATIONS. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THE HE AND THE TECHNICIAN HAD THE SAME EXTRA BRIGHT LOW BEAM ISSUES WITH THEIR FORD PICKUPS. I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANOTHER TYPE OF LAMP THAT COULD BE USED, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JULY 2017.
CAR SMELLS LIKE EXHAUST, THE SMELL IS LIKE EGG OR SOMETHING DEAD THE KEY WON'T COME OUT OF THE IGNITIONONCE I GOT THE KEY OUT THE CAR ELECTRICAL WAS STILL ON, THE KEY WAS OUT BUT EVERYTHING WAS ON AND BEEPING (ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT ONGOING) WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BREAKS, HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE IN A FEW TIMES REGARDING THIS ISSUE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WON'T GO DOWN AND KEEPS SHAKING WHILE GOING DOWN. ONE IN A WHILE I STILL HEAR A TAPPING SOUND UNDER DRIVER SEAT THE AIR CONDITIONER IN THE CAR TAKES 5 TO 10 MINUTES TO GET COOL IN THE VEHICLE I HAVE ALL SERVICE REPORTS AND CAN PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION IN A REPORT I HAVE AND CAN SEND VIDEO THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN OF THESE ISSUES. When driving the vehicle, I can smell gas fumes which caused nausea. I didn’t know it was worse in the back of the cabin where my children sit until I sat back there for a 3 hour trip. The smell was stronger there which led to headache, nausea and fatigue. It doesn’t seem to come from the vent, it seems from the entire body of the vehicle. This puts my children’s health at risk. And all of our lives because if we travel far enough breathing this in, it can lead to exhaustion which can cause a crash and put others’ safety at risk. I’m surprised to see there is no recall, yet, it’s been reported that there have been 1.5 million complaints. We are having the issue fixed next Wednesday, but we will be without a car (ford is not providing a loan vehicle) and the bill is extremely expensive. This is clearly something wrong with the way the vehicle was made and is not fair as consumers that we not only have to breathe this in, but pay for the repair that has clearly been an issue for a majority of police vehicles out of 1.5 million complaints. Please help us.
