THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE IS RUSTING ALONG THE FRONT EDGE. IT STARTED WITH A SMALL AREA AT FIRST A YEAR AGO BY BUBBLING UP FROM UNDERNEATH. NOW THERE ARE SEVERAL VISIBLE AREAS ALONG THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD DOING THE SAME. IT'S A MATTER OF TIME TIL THE RUST BREAKS THRU THE PAINT. 5 YEARS OLD AND I LIVE IN MD. MILD WINTERS. SHOULDN'T HAPPEN.
MY VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE GAS IN THE INSIDE. IT'S LIKE CARBON MONOXIDE COMING INTO THE CABIN AND IT'S MAKING MY FAMILY LIGHTED HEADED. DEALER CAN'T LOOK AT VEHICLE FOR A WEEK OR LONGER. I'M AFRAID I'LL PASS OUT DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND THE DEALER IS OVERLOADED WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT SUDDENLY IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON STARTUP, THE ENGINE RUMBLED AND VIBRATED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE TAIL PIPE ALSO EMITTED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF SMOKE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF AN HEAD GASKET LEAK, A ND ALSO THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CABIN OF VEHICLE NEAR MIDDLE AND REAR SEATS.WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 70MPH PASSENGERS TURNED ON AIR FOR THE BACK AND AN ODD SMELL WAS NOTICED. AIR WAS TURNED OFF AT THE BACK. ONCE AT LOCATION READY TO PARK SMELL BEGAN TO GET WORSE. VERY NOTICEABLE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. ODOR CLUNG TO SKIN. POSSIBLY CO LEAK.
I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL IN THE MAIL. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE 2019 BUT THE RECALL ENDED IN AUGUST 2019 AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED
OUR 2016 FORD EXPLORER SPORT LOST POWER GOING UP A SLIGHT HILL RIGHT BEFORE OUR HOUSE AND BARELY MADE IT HOME. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ARRANGED TO BRING IT THE FOLLOWING MORNING. THE DRIVETRAIN IS UNDER WARRANTY FOR 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES. OUR VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH SLIGHTLY OVER 60,000 MILES AND WE ALSO PURCHASED THE ADDITIONAL WARRANTY FOR 100,000 MILES. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR THE LABOR OF A TRANSMISSION TEAR DOWN WHICH TAKES 18 HRS AND $2,000 IN LABOR BEFORE WE CAN FIND OUT IF THE WARRANTY WILL COVER THE ISSUE. WE HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE HEATED/COOLED SEATS, THE AIR BAGS, THE PARKING ASSIST, AND STEERING. WE DID NOT SPEND ALL THIS MONEY FOR A NEWER VEHICLE(WAS 2 YRS OLD WHEN PURCHASED) JUST TO HAVE SEVERAL ISSUES THAT WILL END UP COSTING US A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY. THIS IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE THAT WE DRIVE OUR 3 KIDS AROUND IN. WE SPENT THE EXTRA MONEY TO HAVE SOMETHING RELIABLE AND SAFE THAT WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO SINK MONEY INTO REPAIRS AND ALSO PURCHASED THE ADDITIONAL WARRANTY TO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT AY REPAIRS. WITH THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE HAVE SPENT ON THE VEHICLE, WE WERE NOT EXPECTING A BIG OUT OF POCKET COST, ESPECIALLY SINCE WE HAVE THE WARRANTY. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE VEHICLE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WE HAVE RECEIVED AND WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD IF THIS IS THE REPUTATION THEY ALLOW THEMSELVES TO HAVE.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. DEALERSHIP FOUND CODE B141B AND B141C TO SECOND ROW SEAT BELTS AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING PIGTAILS. $431.46 QUOTE FOR PARTS SEEMS EXCESSIVE FOR SOMETHING THAT IS IN A 2016 CAR. THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY UNLESS FIXED. SEEMS UNSAFE UNLESS YOU HAVE ABOUT $600 FOR REPAIRS.
THE RECALLED TOE LINK ON THE REAR SUSPENSION BROKE 3 MONTHS AFTER IT WAS REPLACED AND CAUSE A CRASH WHILE DIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, SLOWING FOR A SPEED ZONE FOR A TOWN. INVOLVING BODY DAMAGE. AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND 1 WEEK AFTER GETTING IT BACK FROM THE DEALER THE LINK BROKE FOR A SECOND TIME, WHILE ON A CURVE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY BOTH TIMES.WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 6 WEEKS TOTAL AND HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE FOR 2 OF THEM.
I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM LAST WINTER, WHEN WE WOULD DRIVE OUR EXPLORER IN THE SNOW THE CAR WOULD PULL IN RANDOM DIRECTIONS, IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR IN FEET I WOULD BE PULLED INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG OTHER THAN MY REAR SHOCKS WERE BAD, SO I REPLACED THEM. THEN OVER THE SUMMER I NOTICED WHEN I TURN GOING AT SLOW SPEEDS THE CAR WOULD MAKE A LOUD POP AND SOMETIMES THE STEERING WOULD GET STUCK WHEN IT POPED, SO I DID SOME RESEARCH A THOUGH MAYBE IT WAS MY TOE LINKS. SO I JUST REPLACED THEM AND THIS CAR IS STILL TERRIFYING TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW. I HAVE SEEN THAT A CONCERNING NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND THEY END UP REPLACING THEIR RACK AND PINION AND IT COSTS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.
AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON. CHECKED WITH OBD, NO CODES. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO REMOVE ALL THE SEATS AND REWIRE. RESEARCHED AND FOUND TSB 16-0001WHICH SUPERSEDES TSB 15-0113. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE (HTTP://WWW.CARPROBLEMZOO.COM/FORD/EXPLORER/AIR-BAG-LIGHT-ON-PROBLEMS.PHP). EVEN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THEY ARE SEEING MANY CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THEY ARE QUOTING $1400 TO REPAIR. IN ADDITION THE TSB STATES IT IS ONLY 2.5 HOURS AND PART NUMBER, 14A005. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA SHOULD REQUIRE FORD TO COVER THE COSTS OF THIS ISSUE.
LOSS OF EASE OF STEERING DRIVING IN FRIGID WIND CHILL NIGHT TIME NORTH DAKOTA WEATHER. MY WIFE WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO STRONG ARM STEER AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE 40 PLUS MILES HOME. A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE- AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND COMPLETE STEERING FAILURE ON THE ELECTRONIC STEERING APPARATUS INSTALLED ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THE REPAIR COSTS COULD AMOUNT TO $3000. THE FACT THAT THESE PROBLEMS AND STEERING APPARATUS FAILURE IS OCCURRING ON LOWER MILEAGE VEHICLES IS VERY CONCERNING. OUR VEHICLE HAS 56,700 ODOMETER MILES. THIS ISSUE IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP IS 75 MILES AWAY FROM OUR RURAL FARM LOCATION- I EXPECT I WILL HAVE TO TRANSPORT OUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2019, WITH ABOUT 31K MILES ON THE ODOMETER. IT WAS A RETURNED LEASE. IN JANUARY OF 2020, AT JUST OVER 41K MILES, THE STEERING GEAR FAILED AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT AT WORK. I HAD NO PROBLEM TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT, BUT AS SOON AS I TURNED THE WHEEL EVEN SLIGHTLY RIGHT, THERE WAS AN AWFUL CLICKING NOISE, ALMOST LIKE SOMETHING WAS GRINDING IN THE WHEEL WELL. I LIMPED IT OVER TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP A MILE AWAY AND THEY TOLD ME THE STEERING GEAR HAD FAILED. I WAS OUTSIDE OF THE 3 YR/36000 MI WARRANTY, AND APPARENTLY THE 5 YR/60000 MI POWERTRAIN WARRANTY ONLY COVERS THE STEERING HOUSING, NOT THE GEAR ITSELF, SO I WAS ON THE HOOK FOR THE ENTIRE FIX - $2200 AT THIS POINT. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT FORD SAID IT WASN'T DUE TO ANY NEGLECT OR "OUTSIDE INFLUENCE" - IT JUST FAILED AND THERE'S NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT IT. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING SO CATASTROPHIC AND EXPENSIVE SHOULD BE FAILING AT 4 YRS/41K MI. FORD CAN'T ACTUALLY EXPECT PEOPLE TO REPLACE A $2200 PART EVERY 4 YRS/41K MI, RIGHT?! LUCKILY I WAS DOING ABOUT 5 MPH WHEN THE GEAR FAILED - OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND THIS ISSUE IS SURELY GOING TO INJURE AND/OR KILL PEOPLE, IF IT HASN'T ALREADY. FORD NEEDS TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE!!
I HAVE A 2016 FORD EXPLORER THAT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW 3.5 YEARS AGO. IT HAS 55K MILES ON IT, WHICH ISN'T WHAT I CONSIDER MANY MILES, AND IS DRIVEN BY MY WIFE 90% OF THE TIME TO AND FROM WORK AND WE USE IT FOR LONGER DRIVERS WITH OUR 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I JUST RECEIVED WORD, AFTER I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR A GRINDING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN, THAT THE STEERING RACK AND GEAR HAS FAILED. I HAVE SEEN OTHERS TALK ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS A VERY BIG SAFETY CONCERN IN MY OPINION. IF THIS THING FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY AT A FASTER SPEED AND MY WIFE AND CHILD WERE IN THE CAR AND SHE HAD LIMITED STEERING CONTROL IT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS AND TRAGIC. I SEE ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM I AM THE 165TH CASE OF THIS HAPPENING. I WANTED TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF THIS AND HOPEFULLY YOU CAN MAKE THE 3RD RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE HAPPEN IN THE NEAR FUTURE (HAD 2 ALREADY) PLEASE REACH OUT TO ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
STRONG SMELL OF NATURAL GAS OR EXHAUST ENTERING THE CABIN. SEEMS TO BE COMING IN THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. AS THAT'S WHERE THE SMELL IS THE MOST INTENSE. IT ALSO GETS WORSE WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY. BUT IT IS NOTICEABLE THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE DRIVE. AT THIS POINT EVEN AFTER ONLY TWO DAYS IT'S ALMOST UNBEARABLE TO DRIVE AND THE WHOLE CABIN IS STAINED WITH THE SMELL.
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON I81 IN VA THE POWER STEERING ON OUR 2016 FORD EXPLORER WITH LESS THAN 70,000 MILES DIED. THE ONLY WARNING WAS A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYING "LANE KEEPING SYST MALFUNCTION" AND "STEERING ASSIST FAULT." AFTER WRESTLING THE CAR TO A SAFE SITE I SHUT IF OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE CAR THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. WHILE DRIVING TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT IF FAILED AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED PINPOINT TEST B FOR U3000 CODE STORED IN THE PSCM. THEIR RECOMMENDATION WAS REPLACEMENT OF THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEAR ASY (P/N FB5Z3504W) AT A COST OF $2,300. I INQUIRED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS OR SAFETY BULLETINS ISSUED REGARDING PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING IN WHICH THEY INDICATED THERE WASN'T. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THE CAR IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AT HIGH SPEEDS AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL AT SLOW SPEEDS ESPECIALLY IF YOUR MAKING A TURN. WITHOUT STRONG UPPER BODY STRENGTH, YOU CAN EASILY HAVE AN ACCIDENT. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ISSUE, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND A SAFETY BULLETIN AND A RECALL BE ISSUED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE RUBBER SEAL AROUND THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (COCONUT POINT FORD LOCATED AT 22400 S TAMIAMI TRAIL, ESTERO, FL 33928) FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE DETACHMENT WAS NOT A SAFETY DEFECT AND THE COST OF THE REPAIR WOULD BE ASSESSED TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
PROPANE SMELL INTO CABIN OF VEHICLE WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND HEAT OR AC IS ON. NO MATTER IF IT'S STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, CITY, STREET OR HIGHWAY.
I PURCHASED THIS 2016 FOR EXPLORER LIMITED IN AUGUST OF 2016 WITH 18,000 MILES ON IT. NOW AT JUST BELOW 60,000 MILES IN JANUARY OF 2020, I HAD THE EXPERIENCE OF MY STEERING GEAR GOING OUT WHICH IN TURN COST ME $2200.00. WHO WOULD OF THOUGHT THAT AFTER ONLY 3 YEARS, THE STEERING GEAR WOULD GO BAD IN A PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW VEHICLE? WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP AND I WOULD HAVE TO FORCEFULLY TURN IT TO VEER BACK IN MY LANE ON THE CITY STREETS AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY. IN MICHIGAN, THAT WAS REALLY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IN THE SNOWY CONDITIONS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THE OBVIOUS DEFECTIVE PARTS. THERE IS NO WAY A DRIVER CAN BRAKE THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR.
AT SLOW SPEEDS 20 MPH AND LESS THERE IS SIGNIFICANT NOISE WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS OR TRANSITIONS. AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS LESS THAN 5 MPH AND TURNING STEERING WHEEL THE STEERING WILL GET STUCK OR HESITATE AND MAKE A CLUNKING OR POPPING SOUND. SEEMS TO BE STABILIZER BAR RELATED. ITS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. I ALSO HAVE AN ENGINE SURGING ISSUE AT SLOWER SPEEDS OF 30 MPH OR LESS.
MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON MY DASH I HAVE PLUGGED IN AND UNPLUGGED ALL OF THE SEATBELTS RESET THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND IT STAYS OFF FOR A WHILE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE I UNDERSTAND IT IS EITHER A SENSOR OR THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE WIRING HARNESS THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IN A RECALL. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT WARMER/COOLER DOES NOT WORK, NOT SURE IF THAT ISSUE IS PART OF THE AIRBAG LIGHT PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT WITH AN ABNORMAL CLUNKING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FREEDOM FORD (3941 ADMIRAL PEARY HWY, EBENSBERG, PA 15931, (800)215-0042 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
2016 Ford Explorer Sport. Roof rail recall may be the cause for extreme water damage that burned out the sunroof motor, drenched the interior carpet, interior roof material, navigation and charging docks do not work. Ford not acknowledging and states after diagnostic check I have to pay 2600 to replace motor and once sunroof opens they can determine where the water leak is coming from. Also after complaining of carbon monoxide smell in cabin and multiple doctors visit with dizziness, trouble breathing I found that this is not just an issue I’m having. This car has had many more issues and Ford just repeats that warranty doesn’t cover it warranty expired. These are huge issues with the manufacturing. Car only has 35k miles and issues started in 2020.
Ford issued a customer satisfaction program 21B11 regarding the 2nd row seat belt worn or damaged electrical connection which results in the air bag light illuminating. My vehicle is doing this after arguing with the dealership because they did not want to fix it. Only to get my vehicle scheduled on 01/24/23, and this expired on 1/21/23 so Ford will not pay to fix the problem
THE REAR WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING ON 495 SOUTH IN MA. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THE GLASS REMAINED INTACT TO PULL OFF TO SAFETY. WITH THE IMPACT OF THE CAR DOOR OPENING AND CLOSING, PIECES OF GLASS BEGAN TO BREAK AWAY.
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT THERE IS A DISTINCT CLUNKING SOUND. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE BLOGS WHERE MANY SIMILAR STORIES ARE BEING TOLD AND IT SEEMS THERE'S A DEFECT IN THE STEERING GEAR EXPIERENCING INTERNAL FAILURE PREMATURLY. OWNERS ARE SAYING THEIR VEHICLES WILL DRIFT IN THE LANE AND THE STEERING BECOMES LOOSE AND UNCONTROLLABLE. FORD DEALERS ARE CHARGING $2,500 TO REPLACE THE PARTS CAUSING THIS EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED NOW, WHO CAN AFFORD SUCH AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR ON SOMETHING THIS CRITICAL. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE IN AT 56,000 AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. AT 68,326 MILES WE TOOK IN AGAIN BECAUSE IT GOT WORSE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN YOU TURN TO THE RIGHT AND I HEAR IT AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN PARKING OR JUST RIGHT TURNS.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING NO MORE 70MPH, WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE A WHINING NOISE AND THE TRUCK STARTED BUCKING. THEN THE TRUCK STOPPED ABRUPTLY AS IF SOMEONE HIT THE BRAKE THEN A LOUD POP NOISE. ONCE WE PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, SMOKE CAME THROUGH THE VENT AND FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WITHIN 15 SECOND FIRE SPARKS WAS SHOOTING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK THEN BY THE NEXT 10 SECOND FIRE STARTED SHOOTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED. NO WARNING, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NOTHING. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD MY REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE. LAST ONE DONE 10/2019. NOW I'M OUT OF A VEHICLE WITH NO WARNING FROM FORD. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS TRUCK 9 MONTHS WHICH I PURCHASED WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN MARCH 2019.
MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER LIMIITED HAS 70K MILES AND IS GARAGE KEPT. AFTER DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN, I NOTICED WATER IN MY CARGO AREA. DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT WHERE THEY DIDN'T WELD AND INSTEAD USED SEAM SEALER AND NOW THAT SEAM SEALER HAS FAILED. FORD AND THE DEALER REFUSE TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIR. THEY SAID THEY COULD FIX IT WAS WITH A STRONGER TYPE OF SEAM SEALER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000.

GOING DOWN HILL AT SPEED OF 40KM/H, THEN SLOW DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT STOP, THE GAS RPM SUDDENLY JUMPS TO 3000RPM , EVEN I STEPPED HARD ON THE BRAKE PADEL, THAT 3000RPM STILL EXISTING AND LAST FOR 5 SECONDS, THEN IT BACK TO NORMAL OF 900RPM.

I WENT ON VACATION WITH MY FAMILY FOR A WEEK. WE TOOK MY CAR TO AIRPORT AND PARKED IT FROM 11/8-11/16. I HAD NO PROBLEMS ON THE DRIVE TO THE AIRPORT, BUT WHEN WE CAME HOME, ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE (STILL STATIONARY) I HEARD A RUBBING NOSE COMING FROM WHAT SOUNDED LIKE THE STEERING COLUMN. DUE TO MY SON'S ALWAYS BEING IN THE VEHICLE I DIDN'T WANT TO CHANCE ANYTHING SINCE IT SEEMED TO BE STEERING RELATED. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO ENDED UP TELLING ME THAT IT WAS MY STEERING RACK. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT ON THE YEAR'S BEFORE MINE THEY HAD TO ISSUE A RECALL DUE TO SIMILAR ISSUES AS MINE. I'VE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL THAT STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT ISN'T A RECALL ANYMORE FOR SOME REASON. LUCKILY I CAUGHT MINE BEFORE IT CAUSE A SERIOUS ISSUE, BEING THAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID THIS CAUSES THEIR STEERING TO COMPLETELY LOCK UP.
MY FAMILY AND I WERE AT A A GAS STATION ABOUT TO GET ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY FORD EXPLORER STARTED TO STALL. I PULLED TO THE SIDE AND TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON. THIS ACTION SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, AFTER THAT DAY (4 MONTHS AGO) THE FORD EXPLORER HAS BEEN STALLING EVERY TIME I START IT AND START TO PULL OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY. IT WILL LOSE SPEED WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE AND WILL STALL FOR THE FIRST MINUTE OR SO BEFORE RESUMING BACK TO NORMALS I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH MY FAMILY AS IT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL. ADDITIONALLY, AFTER STALLING I WILL GET THE WRENCH SYMBOL ON MY DASH.
THE POWER STEERING WAS INOPERATIVE WHEN STATIONARY AND THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN MY GARAGE AND TEMP WAS BELOW FREEZING. THE STEERING WAS LOCKED UP AND YOU COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FOR ABOUT 20 TO 30 MINUTES (TRYING TO MOVE STEERING WHEEL BACK & FORTH) IT WOULD LET YOU THEN TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT DID THIS 3 TIMES AND I HAD A FORD DEALER CHECK IT OUT. THEY REPLACED THE STEERING SECTOR AND IT REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. ONE OF THE TIMES THE STEERING LOCKED UP IT ALSO WAS BINDING WHEN I STARTED MOVING AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I FEEL IF THE STEERING SECTOR FAILED IN ABOUT 4 YEARS IS SAFETY ITEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND OWNERS REFUNDED FOR THIS TYPE OF FAILURE. IT COST ABOUT $2300.00 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. IF THIS FAILURE HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING I WOULD HAVE LOST 100% OF THE STEERING.

AFTER REAR TOE LINK RECALL WAS COMPLETED, VEHICLE REAR END SWAYED WHILE BRAKING ON ROUGH ROADS. THIS WAS GETTING WORSE AS WAS STARTING TO HAPPEN WITHOUT BREAKING. TOOK VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER (WILSON FORD SAGINAW, MI) THAN THE ONE WHO DID THE RECALL WORK (LAFONTAINE OF BIRCH RUN). MECHANIC FOUND THAT TWO BOLTS (ONE LH AND ONE RH) WERE NOT TIGHTENED FROM ORIGINAL RECALL WORK.
THE 2ND ROW AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, AND FORD TOLD ME IT WAS A SHORTAGE IN THE WIRES AND IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. THEY STATED THAT SINCE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON, THE SHORT IN THE WIRING WOULD STOP THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING, WHICH IN TURN IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT WHEN DRIVING AT AN INCLINE. AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE WAS LEVEL THERE WERE NO OVERHEATING ISSUES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING DUE TO THE GRILL SHUTTERS BEING STUCK CLOSED AND AS A RESULT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING AND NEEDED A PARTIAL REBUILD. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ELIGIBLE FOR CERTAIN REPAIRS UNDER THE WARRANTY, MILEAGE 58,120, SO FORD COVERED THE PARTIAL TRANSMISSION REBUILD AS THEY DETERMINED WAS FIT. THE GRILL SHUTTERS MALFUNCTIONING AND BEING STUCK CLOSED WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE MALFUNCTION WAS A MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND OVERHEATING OF THE VEHICLE. REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED IN MAY 2019. IN NOVEMBER 2019 AND APPROX. 2K MILES OUT OF WARRANTY AND JUST SLIGHTLY 2K MORE MILES SINCE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILD AND GRILL SHUTTER REPLACEMENT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AGAIN. THE OVERHEATING WOULD OCCUR CONSISTENTLY WHEN SITTING IDLE OR IN MOTION ON STREETS AND ON HIGHWAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR DIAGNOSIS. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN WHICH WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. FORD ADVISED THAT DUE TO THE GRILL SHUTTERS BEING STUCK CLOSED THAT ULTIMATELY WAS THE CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND THE HEAD GASKET BEING BLOWN. THE MALFUNCTIONING GRILL SHUTTERS ARE A MAJOR ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE FIXED ON FORDS BEHALF SO THAT ADDITIONAL ENGINE DAMAGE DOESN'T OCCUR. FORD IS NOW NOT COVERING THE HEAD GASKET BEING BLOWN/OVERALL ENGINE DAMAGE EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS ULTIMATELY CAUSED BY THE MALFUNCTIONING GRILL SHUTTERS. THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE WITHOUT OVERHEATING AND THE OVERHEATING COULD CAUSE A FIRE WHICH COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IN SOME CASES, FATAL.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON INSTRUMENT GAUGE @ APPROX 65,000 MILES. THE CONCERN IS FOR THE REAR SEAT RESTRAINT SYSTEMS THAT HAVE AIRBAGS BUILT INTO THE SEATBELT SHOULDER STRAPS. THIS DESIGN FLAW BY FORD MOTOR CO HAS RESULTED IN FAULTY WIRE HARNESS SYSTEMS FOR THE SEAT BELT AIRBAGS. FORD IS NOT TAKING ACTION BECAUSE THERE IS NO OFFICIAL "RECALL" EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A WELL KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT.
