LOUD KNOCKING IN THE FRONT END WHEN MAKING TURNS. ASSUMED IT WAS THE SWAY BAR BUSHING NEEDING REPLACEMENT BASED ON SEARCHES, HOWEVER AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE A WEEK THE DEALERSHIP HAS DETERMINED THAT IT IS A FAULTY STEERING GEAR. I'M SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT SO THAT THERE ARE MORE OF THESE DOCUMENTED OUT THERE. MY VEHICLE WAS STILL OPERATIONAL WHEN I TOOK IT IN, HOWEVER READING SIMILAR STORIES AND PROBLEMS OF OTHER OWNERS, IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE AND RESULTED IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. ADDITIONALLY WHEN TALKING WITH FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT THEY SAID AT 37,500 THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT IT. I'M CONCERNED WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE THERE APPEARS TO BE A LARGE RISK TO OTHER OWNERS.
PURCHASED EXPLORER 2 OLD, USED. VEHICLE HAS RAN GREAT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAR ON. DIAGNOSED OF 3 CYLINDER MISFIRE. PURCHASED NEW PLUGS AND COILS AS CAR NOW HAS 80K ON IT. CAR RAN BETTER FOR A WEEK AS IT WAS STARTING REALLY ROUGH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER WENT AWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY DIAGNOSED THERE IS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. GARAGED STATED THEY DO NOT DO THAT KIND OF WORK, BUT GARAGE TOLD ME THIS IS THE 3RD EXPLORER-ECOBOOST HE HAS SEEN IN THE PAST 8 MONTHS WITH THIS ISSUE. HE SAID HAS TO BE A KNOW ISSUE TO FORD. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL AND THE BOOK PRICE ON THIS JOB IS $4600. I LOST A HEAD GASKET ONCE, ON A 15 YEAR OLD CAR THAT OVERHEATED SEVERAL TIMES. THIS CAR IS MY WIFES; AND NEVER OVERHEATED. FORD TOLD ME IF I COMPLETED JOB NOW THAT I WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED BY A RECALL, WHICH I HIGHLY DOUBT BUT THAT IS WHAT I WAS TOLD. I JUST WANT TO GO ON RECORD THAT WE BABY OUR CAR, KEEP UP WITH OIL CHANGES AND WANT TO MAKE SURE FORD IS NOT GETTING AWAY WITH PASSING ENGINEERING ISSUES OFF TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. ADAM
PERSISTENT EMISSIONS SMELL IN CABIN CAUSING HEADACHES FOR THE DRIVER. ROESCHE FORD IN ELMHURST ILLINOIS CONDUCTED WARRANTY WORK WHICH CONSISTED OF "REPROGRAMMING" THE CAR. THE FIX DID NOT WORK AND ROESCH FILED AN APPEL TO FORD - WHO IS DENYING LIABILITY AND CLAIMING THE "REPROGRAMMING" IS THE FIX. I HAVE ALSO FILED A CLAIM WITH FORD CAS24714279. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THE POLICE INTERCEPTOR EXPLORERS IS HAVING AND IS WELL DOCUMENTED - FORD HAS EVEN SET UP A HOTLINE FOR THE POLICE - BUT IGNORE THE INDIVIDUAL OWNER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, IT DID NOT RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AN INDEPENDENT TOWING COMPANY TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. ARUNDEL FORD (1561 PORTLAND RD, ARUNDEL, ME 04046, (800) 889-7171) WAS CONTACTED AND SCHEDULED A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,000.
MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER SPORT'S AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. IT STARTED RANDOMLY BEING ON ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND NOW THIS WEEK IT'S BEEN LIT UP EVERY TIME I START THE ENGINE. I READ ON OTHER FORUM SITES THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG ISSUE WITH MANY FORD EXPLORERS AND THE ISSUE RESULTS IN THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD SO IT SHOULDN'T BE HAVING SUCH A KEY SAFETY PROBLEM AS THIS POINT IN IT'S LIFE. AIRBAG FUNCTIONALITY SHOULD ALWAYS BE TAKE VERY SERIOUSLY.
EXHAUST OR GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN. ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AFTER LONGER DRIVES. SO STRONG YOU CAN SMELL IT IN THE HOUSE AFTER PARKING IN THE GARAGE. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING.
MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 10/21/19. I RECEIVED VERY SERIOUS MULTIPLE BRAIN BLEEDS, FACIAL LAC, FACIAL & HEAD FX'S & A SEVERE TBI. MY MOM REC A CONCUSSION, FACIAL LAC CONCUSSION & A FX CLAVICLE. WE STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN & MOVED TO THE CENTER BETWEEN THE 4 LANES & STOPPED AGAIN & WE WERE HIT BY A LARGE ROLL ON ROLL OFF ROCK CARRYING DUMP TRUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANES. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED & I WAS IN A COMA & AIRLIFTED TO A TRAUMA CTR APPROX 40 MINS AWAY, BUT I WAS IN RESP ARREST & NOT EXPECTED TO LIVE. IT IS UNKNOWN EXACTLY WHAT CAUSED THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS, HOWEVER I NEVER CROSS STRAIGHT ACROSS THE TRAFFIC & WE HAD BEEN ON A VERY VERY BUMPY INTERSECTION THE FRI BEFORE THE ACC ON MONDAY & THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE THAT 5 HR TRIP OF EXTREMELY BUMPY ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS ON INTERSTATE 95 COMING THROUGH PART OF NC, ALL OF SC & PART OF GA.
AT AROUND 75K MILES THE STEERING BEGAN TO MAKING POPPING/GRINDING NOISES. THE SOUND RESOLVED WITHIN THE SAME TRIP AND STOPPED. IT'S BEEN TWO MONTHS AND THE GRINDING SOUND RETURNED WHILE DRIVING THIS WEEKEND ON A WINDING ROAD WITH MY TWO YEAR IN THE BACK SEAT. WHILE DRIVING AROUND A CORNER AT MODERATE SPEED (35-40 MPH), THE STEERING WHEEL BRIEFLY STUCK AND BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE EDGE OF THE PAVEMENT BEFORE I GAINED CONTROL AGAIN. THE STICKING PERSISTED AROUND CORNERS AND WHILE TURNING BOTH DIRECTIONS. ONCE UNSTUCK, THE STEERING FELT LOOSE AND NEAR UNPREDICTABLE. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHO CONFIRMED IT'S A RESULT OF RACK AND PINION FAILURE AND QUOTED AROUND $2500 TO REPAIR. THEY CONFIRMED THIS IS COMMON IN EXPLORERS. MY RESEARCH ALSO SHOWS HUNDREDS OF REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS EXACTLY AS MINE, OFTEN IN FRIGHTENING AND LIFE THREATENING CIRCUMSTANCES. THERE IS SERIOUS POTENTIAL FOR FATAL OUTCOMES WITH THE NATURE AND FREQUENCY OF THIS MALFUNCTION.
CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2016 FORD EXPLORER WITH 56,000 MILES. ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR FAILED. LOST POWER STEERING. LUCKILY IT HAPPENED AT LOW SPEED WHILE EXITING A PARKING LOT NEAR HOME - NO ACCIDENT. $2,200.00 REPAIR COST; NO WARRANTY COVERAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL ODOR COMING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA17002 (STRUCTURE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,500. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THERE IS A BURNING SMELL, LIKE EXHAUST, THAT IS COMING INTO THE CABIN OF MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER. FORD SERVICED THE VEHICLE AND SAID THEY REPROGRAMMED THE HVAC SYSTEM, BUT I AM STILL GETTING THE SMELL.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AROUND 50,000, WAS TOLD HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED UNDER DRIVER'S SEAT DUE TO WIRES FRAYING FROM SEAT MOVEMENT. WORK WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY. MILEAGE NOW AROUND 92,000, AIRBAG LIGHT AGAIN INTERMEDIATELY ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING, AFTER TAKING IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND NOW IT'S AN $1100 FIX, NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL AS OF YET HAS BEEN INITIATED. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, SEEMS THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM!
WAS DRIVING DOWN 95 @ 65 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE CAR JERKED AND LOST ALL POWER. WRENCH LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE, AND AIRBAG LIGHT ALL CAME ON. NO POWER. NO GAS, LIMP MODE. CODE READER DETERMINED THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. LOOKED ONLINE, APPEARS TO BE KNOWN ISSUE IGNORED BY FORD. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED
THE ACCELERATOR BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE AND MY VEHICLE'S RPM DROPS, REGARDLESS IF I AM PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. MOST NOTABLY OCCURS WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, BUT HAS HAPPENED DRIVING WITHIN CITY LIMITS. I HAVE TO PRESS DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL AND WAIT FOR THE VEHICLE TO EVENTUALLY PICK UP SPEED OR SHIFT GEAR TO NEUTRAL TO DRIVE TO BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO THE VEHICLE GOING LIMP MODE, ESPECIALLY ON A FREEWAY. THIS HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY 2-3 TIMES IN A 1 HOUR DRIVING PERIOD. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WRENCH LIGHT WHEN ON AND MY VEHICLE WAS JOLTING WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT AWAY. IT IS CURRENTLY BEING SEEN BY A TECHNICIAN; HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN IS HAVING A HARD TIME DUPLICATING THIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. I TRIED TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP PREVIOUSLY FOR THE SAME ISSUE, HOWEVER THEY TURNED ME DOWN DUE TO IT BEING AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND WE CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN WASILLA ALASKA TO REPORT THE ISSUE BUT THEY REMAIN UNHELPFUL. THE QUICKEST APPOINT IS A MONTH AWAY AND MY WIFE USES THIS VEHICLE FOR TRANSPORTING MY CHILDREN TO AND FROM SCHOOL/APPOINTMENT AND BASIC EVERYDAY NEEDS. THE AIRBAG LIGHT OFTEN ILLUMINATES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND FIRST APPEARED WHEN THE VEHICLE HIT 34000 MILES. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP THEN, BUT THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING TO BE DONE UNLESS THE LIGHT REMAINED ON. IT APPEAREDS PERIODICALLY, OFTEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, BUT ALSO WHEN ITS BEING DRIVEN. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE SAME UNCONCERN RESPONSE. APPOINTMENTS ARE OFTEN MONTHS AWAY AND THE DEALERSHIP OFTEN DISMISS THE ISSUE AND SHOW NO URGENCY OR INTEREST IN FINDING OUT THE CAUSE. THE LIGHT DIAPPEARS AFTER A FEW SHUTDOWNS AND RESTARTS, SOMETIMES FOR WEEKS AND MONTHS BUT IT HAS BECAME A COMMON APPEARENCE AS THE VEHICLE CAME CLOSER TO 38K MILES AND NOW 40K MILES. PLEASE ADDRESS THE ISSUES OR AT LEADT LOOK INTO IT SO FORD CAN GIVE IT THE NEEDED ATTENTION BEFORE MYSELF OR SOMEONE LOSE A FAMILY MEMBER FOR SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN A SIMPLE FIX. THE VEHICLE IS OFTEN STATIONARY WHEN THE LIGHT APPEAR. SOMETIME ITS APPEARS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. BASE ON WHAT I HAVE READ FROM OTHER COMPLAINTS AND FROM PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE MODEL ITS SAFE TO ASSUME THE PROBLEM MOST LIKELY ORIGINATE FROM THE REAR SEAT, JUST BEHIND THE DRIVERS. IF ITS A WIRING ISSUE INVOLVING THE VEHICLE SAFETY EQUIPMENT THEN THIS MAY HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR CAUSING A CASCADE AND CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN ONE OR MORE OD THE VEHICLE SAFETY FEATURES. I WILL INCLUDE A PICTURE OF THE MOST RECENT APPEARENCE OF THE AIRBAG LIGHT. STARTED ABOUT 18 MONTHS AGO WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 34.5K MILES AND IS BECOMING MORE COMMON NOW.
THE POWER STEERING GEAR FAILED AT 41,000 MILES. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE VEHICLE STEERING WAS UNPREDICTABLE. YOU TURN THE WHEEL, BUT IT MAY NOT STRAIGHTEN BACK OUT. AFTER REVIEWING SOME MESSAGE BOARDS, THIS SOUNDS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2016 EXPLORER BETWEEN 40K AND 50K. THIS IS A SERIOUS FLAW, AND SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO ONLY RUN INTO PROBLEMS AT LOWER SPEEDS. HOWEVER IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED, WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE CAR, THERE IS NO TELLING HOW HORRIBLE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN. NOT TO MENTION THE POSSIBILITY OF HITTING OTHERS ON THE ROAD DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING. SEEING HOW THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM, I BELIEVE THIS HAS TO BE A RECALL.
THE FIRST TIME MY STEERING WHEEL GOT STIFF WAS ON 09/13/2019 WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON A CITY STREET. IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING THE LEFT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL GOT STIFF, AND THE STEERING FAULT HILL START AND TRAC LIGHTS WENT ON. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE WHEEL WHICH CAUSE ME TO GET ONTO OF THE SIDE WALK ALMOST HITTING A TREE. I HAD TO HIT MY BREAKS IN ORDER TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. MY KIDS BODY JERK BACK AND FORTH REALLY HARD. I TURN MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS WORKING AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME SAFELY. THE SECOND TIME THE STEERING WHEEL GOT STIFF WAS ON 10/05/2019. WHILE ON THE A CURVE OF RAMP TO GET OUT OUT THE FREEWAY THE STEERING WHEEL GOT STIFF AGAIN, AND THE STEERING FAULT , HILL START AND TRAC LIGHTS WENT ON AS WELL. ONCE AGAIN I HAD TO HIT THE BREAKS HARD IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING THE RAIL, AS I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. I TRY TURNING MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN TO SEE IF THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD WORK AGAIN BUT IT STILL DID NOT WORK. I HAD TO CALL MY HUSBAND TO COME AND PICK ME UP. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE POWER STEERING EQUIPMENT WHICH COST ME A TOTAL OF $2350.39.

I TRY TURNING MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN TO SEE IF MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD WORK AGAIN, BUT IT STILL DID NOT WORK. I HAD TO CALL MY HUSBAND TO COME PICK ME UP. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY H.AD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE POWER STEERING EQUIPMENT WHICH COST ME A TOTAL OF $2350.39
HEADING HOME AFTER WORK ON THE TURNPIKE IN MY FORD EXPLORER 2016 WITH 50,250 MILES. APPROXIMATELY TWO / THREE WEEKS AGO. OUT NO WERE FELT LIKE A JOLTING; SUDDEN STALLING; SUDDEN DECELERATION; SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. PUT THE SUV IN PARK. ATTEMPTED A RESTART, IT WORK. DURING THIS INCIDENT, THE DASHBOARD WAS DISPLAYING AND MESSAGE "SEE MANUALS, WITH A BIG WRENCH". THE MANUALS TELLS YOU TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR SERVICE. THIS HAS CONTINUE TO HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THE INCIDENT IN THE TURNPIKE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW, AN HAS ALWAYS BEING SERVICE IN THE FORD DEALER. CALL THE FORD DEALER AN I WAS INFORMED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT SO THEY CAN PUT THE VEHICLE IN THE COMPUTER TO DIAGNOSTIC. BUT SINCE THE WARRANTY ALREADY EXPIRED THAT I MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. DID SOME RESEARCH ON TH ISSUE, AN IT SEEN THAT THIS HAS HAPPEN TO MANY OWNER OF A FORD EXPLORER 2016. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE THAT FORD NEEDS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH A RECALL.
WITHIN THE PAST 2 WEEKS, ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT WHILE DRIVING. FORD HAS STATED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN PHOENIXVILLE, PA STATED ON 9/25/19 THAT THE ISSUE IS WITH C200D CODE FOR MOTOR ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR. THEY GAVE AN ESTIMATE THAT THE PART IS 1500 AND LABOR 500.
FORD EXPLOER 2016 AT LOW SPEED EXCELARATOR STICK AND ENGINE REVES UP TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE. MUST PUT TRANSMISSION IN NUTRAL TO STOP AUTO FROM MOVING FWD. HAPPENED 3 TIMES SEPERATE DAYS. HAD TO PUT TRANSMISSION IN NUTURAL TO GET AUTO UNDER CONTROL.

AT JUST 36,300 MILES THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK HAS FAILED. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS NUMEROUS FORD VEHICLES WITH THIS ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM HAVING ISSUES WITH AS MANY OR LESS MILES. OF COURSE IT IS OUT OF THE BUMPER TO BUMPER COVERAGE AT THIS POINT. THE STEERING MECHANISM FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS A MANUAL STEERING SYSTEM WHEN IT FAILED AS I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. THE WHEEL DOESN'T RETURN TO CENTER AFTER TURNING AND NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT BACK MANUALLY. I'M GLAD THIS DIDN'T RESULT IN A CRASH BUT EASILY COULD HAVE. REPAIR COSTS FOR REPLACEMENT ARE $2000-$3000. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE, AND DEFINITELY NOT TO AMOUNT OF VEHICLES THAT ARE SHOWING THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS JUST INFORMED THAT I NEED A NEW ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR AT $2500. MY 2016 EXPLORER HAS ABOUT 47,000 MILES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A POWER STEERING ISSUE ON AN EXPLORER WITH LOW MILEAGE. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ON-GOING PROBLEM WITH FORD AND THE EARLIER RECALLS OF THIS SAME ISSUE WITH EXPLORERS. I WAS TOLD BY FORD MOTOR CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT BECAUSE MY CAR HAS TURNED 36,00 MILES THERE IS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE OR OTHER RECOURSE THAT I CAN TAKE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, CHATHAM FORD, WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS PARTICULAR TIRE SHOULD NOT BE USED ON AN EXPLORER. YET MY DEALER ALSO SAID THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME. THERE APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THIS TIRE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE COMPUTER CODE REVEALED A FAULT IN THE SRS SYSTEM CAUSING A REAR AIRBAG NOT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE SRS WARRANTY AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY $500 FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A WIRE.

I USE THIS CAR TO TRANSPORT MY INFANT AROUND AND IT IS NOT SAFE AT ALL. AN ERROR LIKE THIS COULD KILL MY WHOLE FAMILY.

WHEN I READ THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT (BECAUSE THE SERVICE REP WOULDN'T EXPLAIN IT TO ME)...IT STATED THAT THERE WAS COOLANT FOUND IN ONE OF THE CYLINDERS IN THE ENGINE....MEANING MY COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT, MY VEHICLE WILL OVERHEAT.

DUE TO HAVING TO REPLACE WORN TIRES AT 32K, WE TOOK TO LOCAL QUICK LANE AT OUR ST JOSEPH FORD DEALERSHIP. WE REPORTED THE POPPING NOISES AT THIS TIME AND REQUESTED IT BE LOOKED AT WHILE THEY REPLACED TIRES. THERE WERE NO FINDS AT THIS TIME REGARDING WHAT WAS MAKING THE NOISES. WE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE OCCASIONAL POPPING NOISES WHILE TURNING AT INTERSECTIONS, PULLING IN/OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND PARKING SPOTS. ON 8/8/19, WE TOOK TO SAME DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO PERFORM FSA19S17, A RECALL WHERE THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK WAS REPLACED AT 38205MI. A 4-WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS ALSO DONE AT THIS TIME. ON 8/23/19, WE NOTICED THE POPPING HAD GOTTEN WORSE. ON 8/26/19, THE STEERING BRIEFLY SEIZED ROUNDING A CORNER AT APPROXIMATELY 30-35MPH. IT SCARED MY WIFE, AS SHE FELT A BRIEF LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ON 8/28/19 WE DROPPED IT OFF AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THAT POPPING WAS WORSE AND THE STEERING HAD SEIZED. AFTER THE TEST DRIVES AND ASSESSMENT THEY CALLED TO REPORT THAT THE STEERING RACK WAS FAILING AND WOULD NEED REPLACED. THEY QUOTED $2900.00 FOR REPAIRS. WE HAVE NOT AGREED TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. WE HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD AND OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. WE ARE REPORTING IN HOPES THAT FORD WILL RECALL TO RECTIFY THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
