RUTTEN EGGS SULFUR STRONG SMELL COMING INTO CAB DURING ACCELERATION MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO BREATHE IN THE CAR. WENT TO DEALER FEW TIMES BUT THE PROBLEM STILL THERE. WHEN FORD GOING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
FUME SMELL COMING FROM VEHICLE WHILE MOVING, CAN SMELL BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF CAR! SEEMS LIKE SMELL IS MORE IN FRONT OF CAR THEN IN BACK ONCE CAR IS PARKED AND I GET OUT OF CAR. I AM FEELING VERY UNWELL WHILE DRIVING; NAUSEA, DIZZINESS, STINGY EYES AND BLURRY VISION. IT IS HAPPENING REGARDLESS OF THE HEATING/AIR BEING ON/OFF. I HAVE FOR DAYS NEEDED TO DRIVE WITH ALL WINDOWS DOWN. MY CHILDREN FEEL SICK AS WELL. MY HUSBAND CAN SMELL IT, BUT THIS FAR HAS NOT BEEN FEELING SICK FROM IT. THIS HAPPENS NO MATTER IF I AM DRIVING CITY/HIGHWAY/STATIONARY/IN MOTION, ALL THE TIME. WE HAVE BEEN FEELING SICK FOR A WHILE BUT THE SMELL IS WITHIN THE LAST WEEK.
WHILE TAKING A 250 MILE TRIP UP THE COAST OF CALIFORNIA, WE STOPPED FOR GAS. WHEN THE 2016 FORD EXPLORER WAS TURNED BACK ON, A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND I REALIZED I NO LONGER HAD POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING NEVER RETURNED AFTER THAT. I HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE 250 MILES BACK HOME WITH NO POWER STEERING. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, AND I WAS TOLD THE REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY SINCE MY VEHICLE NOW HAS JUST OVER 50,000 MILES ON IT. I AM WAITING FOR THE ESTIMATE ON THE REPAIRS.

THE CONTACT CALLED THREE OTHER UNKNOWN FORD DEALERS AND WAS INFORMED THE SAME THING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR THE POWER STEERING STARTING FLASHING ON MY DASH AND MY STEERING LOCKED UP. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT GOING DOWN THE ROAD. THE GARAGE I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE AND THE RACK AND PINION ARE WHAT NEEDS REPLACING AND IT'S $1950.00. I'VE READ HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE'S STORIES ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEM AND COSTING THEM ANYWHERE FROM $2-$4000 TO FIX. AND IT'S ALWAYS HAPPENING WHEN THE VEHICLES ARE AROUND 20-40,000 MILES AND IT'S ALWAYS BEEN FORD EXPLORERS 2016-2018 MODELS. MY EXPLORER IS AT 102,000 MILES. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE PARTS ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE DIES FROM THIS HAPPENING!
THE FACTORY BATTERY RUPTURED AND SPEWED BATTERY ACID IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING SEIZED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE STEERING WAS LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE ENTIRE FRONT RACK AND PINION SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST, INCLUDING TOWING, WAS $2,300. FORD OF HIBBING (2627 E BELTLINE, HIBBING, MN 55746, (218) 262-3881) STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THE WARRANTY RECENTLY EXPIRED; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,060.
DRIVING AND LOST FULL POWER STEERING CONTROL OF VEHICLE. FORD HAD TO REPLACE POWER STEERING WITH ONLY 47,900 MILES ON VEHICLE.
ISSUES STARTED WITH SEVERAL ELECTRICAL GLITCHES THAT OCCURRED AND STILL OCCUR CONSISTENTLY WITH NO RESOLUTION. BATTERY WAS "FRIED" AND REPLACED, SYNC MODULE WAS REPLACED, NOW THE GLITCHES INCLUDE A FROZEN STEERING COLUMN WHILE DRIVING AND A "CHARGING SYSTEM SERVICE NOW" LIGHT THAT COMES ON AND OFF WHILE STATIONARY AND DRIVING. ALSO PASSENGER SIDE VIEW MIRROR GETS STUCK OUTWARDS, INTERIOR ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS. TRUCK IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I AM TIRED OF PAYING $150 DIAGNOSTIC FEES WITH NO RESOLUTION.
EXPLORER SPORT 57800 MILES VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING POPPING NOISES WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT ALSO HAPPENS WHILE BRAKING THE POPPING IS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO FEEL IN THE STEERING WHEEL AS WELL AS IN THE FLOOR BOARDS ON BOTH FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS EXHIBITED EXTREME VIBRATION ENOUGH TO MAKE THE OUTSIDE DRIVER REVIEW MIRROR SHAKE. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS ALSO BEEN STUCK IN THE LEFT TURNING POSITION TWICE WHILE TRYING TO STRAIGHTEN WHEELS BACK OUT. DEALER WANTS $2,500 TO REPAIR IT. THEY ALSO CHARGE ME $140 TO TELL ME IT NEEDED TO BE FIXED.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER, THE POWER STEERING BECAME LOOSE AND MAKING A GRINDING NOISE IN THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A STEERING RACK ISSUE. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD MOTOR CO WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS BEING DIAGNOSED, TWO ADDITIONAL FORD EXPLORERS WERE BROUGHT TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND MAKE THESE SAFETY REPAIRS. PRIOR TO BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO FORD FOR DIAGNOSTICS I TOOK A VIDEO OF THE DAMAGE AND THE GRINDING SOUNDS IN THE FRONT END.
VEHICLE LURCHED INTO ADJOINING LANE ON INTERSTATE WHILE GOING AROUND A SLIGHT CURVE AT ABOUT 70MPH. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR UNDER CONTROL AND PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE ADJACENT LANE OR I ALMOST CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE HIT THEM. I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO HOME THAT I GOT THE VEHICLE BACK (ABOUT A MILE), BUT THE STEERING WOULD 'STICK'/PULL TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT WHEN TURNING SUCH THAT I HAD TO FORCE IT BACK TO CENTER (WOULD NOT RETURN TO CENTER ON ITS OWN). LIMPED HOME AT ABOUT 10 MPH. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHO DIAGNOSED A FAILURE OF THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR AND STEERING RACK. THEY SAID THEY'VE SEEN THIS A FEW TIMES WITH 2016 EXPLORERS. THE FORD TECHNICIAN WAS SHOCKED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVE-ABLE AT ALL GIVEN THE DAMAGE TO THE FAILED STEERING GEAR/RACK. HE EXPLAINED THAT I COULD HAVE EASILY LOST ALL STEERING AND HAD A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN NO ACCIDENTS OR HAD ANY OTHER INCIDENTS THAT COULD ACCOUNT FOR THE FAILURE. THE FORD TECHNICIAN STATED THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE OEM PARTS. REPLACEMENT PARTS AND LABOR COST APPROXIMATELY $2,100.
MY STEERING PROBLEM STARTED WHILE DRIVING, WHICH BEGAN WITH A POPPING NOISE WHEN BACKING UP AND THEN A GRINDING NOISE WHILE TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN DRIVING FORWARD. THE PROBLEM QUICKLY PROGRESSED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AT AROUND 30 MPH. I HAD TO MUSCLE THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN THE VEHICLE AND MANAGED TO DRIVE TO THE NEAREST GARAGE. THIS SAME GARAGE WAS VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EXPLORER AND REPAIRED MY VEHICLE AT A COST OF $2417.74. FROM THE TIME THE STEERING PROBLEM BEGAN TO THE TIME THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN WAS LESS THAN FOUR HOURS. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR IT ASAP!!.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 23972804. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.

THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETECT AN EXHAUST ODOR. HOWEVER, THE DEALER MADE UNKNOWN REPAIRS AND THE VEHICLE PASSED THE EMISSIONS TEST. WHEN THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE ON AUGUST 8, 2019, THERE WAS A STRONG EXHAUST ODOR COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. THE CONTACT TESTED THE VEHICLE WITH HIS OWN CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR, WHICH ALERTED HIM WITHIN TWO TO THREE MINUTES. THE CONTACT CALLED L.B. SMITH FORD-LINCOLN (1100 MARKET ST, LEMOYNE, PA 17043, (717) 761-6700) AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE PER TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: 17-0044. THE DEALER FINALLY AGREED TO REPLACE THE PTU UNDER WARRANTY AND COVER THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT REQUESTED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED THE REQUEST FOR A LOANER VEHICLE AND EXPLAINED THE RECALL POLICY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,494.
HAD JUST RETURNED TO BATON ROUGE,LA FROM BILOXI MS, STOP TO DROP OFF OUR TRAVELING GUEST AT THEIR HOME RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND A STEERING ASSIST ERROR CODE APPEARED ALONE WITH TWO OTHER CODES UPHILL START AND ONE FOR TRACTION. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR INDICATION SOMETHING WAS WRONG

I WAS DRIVING 55MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS VERY HARD TO DRIVE AND CONTROL THE CAR. I COULD OF EASILY CRASHED AND KILL MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR LESS THEN A WEEK BEFORE AND I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT COVER IT AND I HAVE TO PAY OVER $2000 TO GET IT FIXED.
2016 FORD EXPLORER XLT - WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON STRAIGHT HIGHWAY, THE PLASTIC OUTER PILLAR WINDSHIELD TRIM ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE WINDOW SHIELD DETACHED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS ~38,000.
I WAS PARKED AT THE AIRPORT. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR I RECEIVED A WARNING "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY DISABLED AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT GREAT DIFFICULTY. I HAD TO DRIVE IT HOME AND IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN I GOT THE WARNING.
AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER ON THE HIGHWAY ON 08/01/2019 I EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE START TO STUTTER JUST BEFORE I WAS GOING ON TO THE ON RAMP MERGING ON THE HIGHWAY AND AFTER I WAS ON THE HIGH WAY THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND I COULD SMELL OIL BURNING AND PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND SAW THE PILE OF OIL UNDERNEATH BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THE ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR WARNINGS ONCE WE TOWED THE VEHICLE HOME I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND SAW THAT THE TRANSMISSION CASING WAS CRACKED PRETTY MUCH IN HALF I COULD ACTUALLY SEE THE GEARS INSIDE THE CASING OF THE TRANSMISSION I ALSO REMEMBERD IN THE PAST YEAR OR SO THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT VERY HARD AFTER BRAKING AND THEN GETTING BACK ON THE GAS IT HAPPENED EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE .
STEERING RACK/STEERING GEAR FAILURE CAUSING CAR TO LOSE CONTROL AND RUN OFF ROAD INTO SHOULDER/DITCH. ALLOY WHEEL BENT WITH RUNNING OFF ROAD. NO INJURY OR BODILY HARM AS THIS OCCURRED IN A LOW TRAFFIC AREA AT ABOUT 30MPH. STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK INTO TURNS. CAR STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD TO TURN CAR UNCONTROLLABLE AT ANY HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. NOT COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURE WARRANTY OR RECALL. MILEAGE AT FAILURE: 53257 PART # FB5Z*3504*V GEAR ASY- STEERING COST $1310.40 AFTER LABOR AND TAX REPAIR TOTAL CAME TO $1826.60
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact received a notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V435000 (SUSPENSION) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer was notified about the recall however, the contact was informed that the part was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to NHTSA. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR "STEERING FAULT" LIGHT CAME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL GOT HARD TO TURN. LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND STARTED GOING HOME. JUAT AS I PULLED INTO MY DRIVE WAY "STEERING LOSS" LIGHT CAME ON AMD I COULD NO LONGER TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED. HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP.
STEERING WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE. DIAGNOSED AS THE STEERING GEAR/RACK. STARTED WITH MAKING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING AND EVENTUALLY FAILED. ONLY 40,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.
WHILE IN MOTION THE VEHICLES STEERING SUDDENLY BECAME "STICKY" AND MAKING A GRINDING SOUND. SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR BECAME HARD TO CONTROL WHILE IN MOTION BECAUSE IT HAD LOST POWER STEERING. THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND THE REPAIR IS VERY EXPENSIVE AS WELL AS NOT GUARANTEED BECAUSE THE PART IS FATLY AND IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL BECOME SHAKY AND UNCONTROLLABLE . I WAS FEELING UNSAFE AND MOVED TO THE RIGHT LANE AND WITHIN SECONDS THE STEERING WHEEL FROZE UP AND WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON. I GLIDED TO THE SHOULDER. TURNED THE CAR OFF. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TURNING IT BACK ON BUT WARNING LIGHTS AND STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL LOCKED. HAD THE CAR TOWED.
I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AT 16,000 MILES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP EACH TIME, ONLY TO BE TOLD IT MUST BE GIVING A CODE SO THEY CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. MY EXPLORERS STEERING PROBLEM WOULD CORRECT ITSELF IF I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION & STARTED BACK. IN JULY 2019 AT 46,636 MILES I LOST ALL STEERING. I HAD THE EXPLORER TOWED INTO MY LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTER AND WAS TOLD IT IS A STEERING GEAR THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES THAY I FEEL NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP!
WITH NO WARNING - EXPERIENCED SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ALSO THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WITH A MESSAGE THAT SAID "SEE MANUAL." I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFICE AND PULL OVER. AFTER TEN MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE CAR. THE CAR STARTED BACK UP WITH NO PROBLEM AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK OFF. I HAVE TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND IT'S GOING TO COST ME $380. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT WITH THE SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ALL OVER THE INTERNET THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS AT THE DEALORSHIP WHEN THEY SOLD ME THE CAR. AND ALSO THAT FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THIS YET CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. I HAVE TO HAVE THIS FIXED, I HAVE NO CHOICE. I WOULD DEFINITLY LIKE TO REUMBERSED FOR THIS REPAIR. BUT IN ADDITION TO THE OUT OF POCKET COST, THE POWER GOING OUT ON THE CAR WHILE DRIVING IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WITH THE SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE WITH THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE MODEL / YEAR , I HOPE THAT SOMEBODY DOESN'T HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY PLACE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE.
TURNING STEERING WHEEL MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. STEERING GETS STUCK WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT AND HAS TO BE FORCED BACK TO CENTER. DOES NOT RETURN ON ITS OWN. HAPPENS WHILE SITTING OR DRIVING. IF YOU MAKE A TURN ON THE STREET IT WILL SEND YOU OFF THE ROAD OR INTO ANOTHER LANE IF YOU DO NOT FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK. THE STEERING RACK IS BAD. 3 YEAR OLD EXPLORER. AFTER RESEARCHING MORE ALMOST EVERY OTHER YEAR OF EXPLORER IN THE TEENS HAS HAD A RECALL FOR THE STEERING GEAR EXCEPT 15/16. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FOR 2016 STEERING GEARS. ARE WE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET KILLED FIRST?

SPECIFICALLY, WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON "AUTO" AT APPROXIMATELY 3500RPM THE DETECTOR REGISTERED CO IN THE CABIN, AT 4500 RPM THE LEVEL OF CO DOUBLED.

AT 40,906 MILES THE STEERING TOTALLY FAILED. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND LOST ALL STEERING CAPABILITY, THE WHEEL EFFECTIVELY LOCKED UP. TOWED TO DEALER. A STEERING MODULE INSIDE THE GEARBOX FAILED. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE EPDS SYSTEM. THE ENTIRE GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED FOR A TOTAL OF $2,234.22 WITH LABOR. AFTER OVER A DOZEN DIFFERENT CALLS TO FOMOCO CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY AGREED TO COMPENSATE ME A TOTAL OF $525.00 THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND I AM CONCERNED IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
AT APPROX 48,000 MILES, AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WAS NOT MOVING, WAS PARKED FOR 9 HOURS AFTER A DAY OF WORK. NOTHING HIT, NO IMPACT. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSIS: AIRBAG HARNESS/CONNECTOR ISSUE TRACED BACK TO REAR PASSENGER SEAT BEHIND DRIVER. 1.5 DAYS WORK AND $478.93 CHARGE, NOT A WARRANTY OR RECALL REPAIR. AIRBAG CIRCUIT INOPERATIVE. FIX IS PER TSB16-0001. I AM KEEPING THE PARTS THE DEALER IS REPLACING. REQUIRES REMOVAL OF REAR SEATS/REPLACE/SPLICE CONNECTOR. DEALER NOT FORGIVING.

MY VEHICLE HAS 48,950 MILES AND WAS TOLD THAT THE LOUD CLUNKING SOUND MY VEHICLE MAKES WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION, IS DUE TO THE STEERING GEAR AND HARDWARE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE SEEN MANY ONLINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT STEERING ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. IT IS CONCERNING TO ME THAT THIS MAY AFFECT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. SUCH AN EXPENSIVE VEHICLE AND TO BE TOLD THAT THIS REPAIR WILL COST OVER $2000 IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS POOR MANUFACTURING AND NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ITEM, AND CERTAINLY NOT AT 49,000 MILES.
TIRES - ALL 4 HANOOK TIRES DOT # 5MNC 1A H (0216) 255/50/R20 TREADS HAVE BEEN CHIPPING AND PEELING UP RESULTING IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS AND EXCESSIVE WEAR. THESE TIRES ARE CLEARLY PROBLEMATIC TIRES AND COMPLETELY WORN OUT AT 20,000 MILES. MANUFACTURER IS AWARE IF THIS RESULTING FROM NEW COMPOUNDS (MATERIALS) USED IN MANUFACTURING. HIGH SPEED BLOWOUTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR THIS PARTICULAR TIRE YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS TIRE DESPITE ITS DEFECTS AND SAFETY CONCERNS. I FIRST NOTICED IT ON THE TWO FRONT TIRES. IT IS SHOCKING THAT FORD WOULD USE THESE TIRES.

POPPING CHANGED FROM A SINGLE POP WHEN TURNING RIGHT TO MULTIPLE POPS. TOOK TO FORD DEALER. FORD SAID NOT TO DRIVE AS THE STEERING COULD LOCK UP CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. FORD REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR AND SAID THIS WAS A KNOWN AND FREQUENTLY OCCURRING PROBLEM.

ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY VEHICLE'S DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD PILLAR/MOLDING TRIM FLEW OFF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE PLASTIC WHICH THE PANEL IS DEFECTIVE.
2016 FORD EXPLORER - THE BACKUP CAMERA WILL COME ON WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 55-60 MPH. WILL CAUSE IT TO LOOSE POWER, THE RPM'S DROP RIGHT BELOW 1000, THE WRENCH SYMBOL COMES ON, AND IT WILL BARELY MOVE DOWN THE ROAD. A SCREEN WILL POP UP ON OCCASION SAYING HILL ASSIST IS UNAVAILABLE. YOU HAVE TO PULLOVER, TURN THE CAR OFF, OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR TO MAKE SURE THE RADIO AND ALL GOES OFF, WAIT EXACTLY ONE MINUTE, AND THEN YOU ARE ABLE TO CRANK THE VEHICLE UP TO BE ABLE TO MOVE. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, AND ALL THEY SAY IS IT'S A SENSOR INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, AND ALL THEY CAN DO IS CLEAR THE CODE OUT. THEY SAY THAT IT IS SAYING MY VEHICLE IS TRYING TO ENGAGE IN REVERSE WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE HAD OTHERS SAY THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM AS WELL. I CONTACTED THEM BECAUSE WHILE LOOKING AT THE PAPERWORK IT SAID IT HAD A LIMITED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, BUT IT WAS PURCHASED AS A PRE-CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE WITH AN UNLIMITED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY THEY WERE OFFERING FOR VEHICLES WITH LEST THAN 80,000 MILES. I HAVE NOT HAD IT A YEAR YET. I HAVE AN EMAIL FROM THE SALES REP HIMSELF STATING THAT IT IS UNLIMITED. IT WAS PURCHASE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018.

WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE AND TURNED MY WHEEL MY STEERING ABILITY WAS SUDDENLY WAS GONE AND I HAD THE "HILL ASSIST DISABLED" LIGHT TO COME ON, "ADVANCE TRAC CONTROL LIGHT" FLASHED, AND THE STEERING LOSS LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD NO CAPABILITY TO TURN MY WHEEL WITHOUT PUTTING ENORMOUS EFFORT. IT'S AS IF ALL MY POWER STEERING DIED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED.

TODAY I ACTUALLY LOST STEERING ON THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 30 MILES ON A LOCAL STREET. THE STREET CURVED AND I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. THE STEERING FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR SAID THAT THE TERRAIN ASSIST AND HILL ASSIST WAS DISABLED (WAS NOT USING). I WAS ABLE TO PUT MY HAZARDS ON, AND STRUGGLE WITH THE STEERING TO PULL OVER. I ONLY HAVE 42000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, INCLUDING REPLACING THE APIM. I HAVE A 16 YEAR OLD, THAT JUST STARTED DRIVING WITH ME IN THIS CAR, AND I DO NOT THINK IT IS SAFE. I TRULY BELIEVE THERE IS SOME WIRING PROBLEM OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT FORD IS IGNORING. I SEE MANY PEOPLE POSTING THIS SAME DANGEROUS STEERING FAULT ISSUE, AND IT NOT GETTING FIXED.
