2016 FORD EXPLORER WITH 44789 MILES STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE DRIVING. DRIVERS PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS ISSUE
CAR MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING(CURVING) SOUNDS LIKE A JAR OF MARBLES. GOT THE AXLES REPLACED AND STILL DOES IT
THE STEERING COLUMN WENT OUT AT 38,000 MILES. THE MOTOR IS DEAD AND ENTIRE THING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
I HAVE BEEN SMELLING A HORRIBLE ODOR THAT SMELLS LIKE NATURAL GAS/FUMES IN THE CAR TO THE POINT IT MAKES ME SICK AND GIVES ME HEADACHES. I ALSO HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD AND CAN'T HAVE HER IN THE CAR EITHER. I TOOK IT INTO FORD 2 DIFFERENT TIMES AND THEY HAVE HAD IT 2 WEEKS AND STILL HAS NOT FIXED IT. IT IS HEADING BACK IN AGAIN TOMORROW. THE FIRST TIME WE NOTICED THE SMELL IN THE CAR, IT WAS FROM CRANKING IT UP AND JUST GOING FLAT DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO, WHILE GOING UP THE HILL IT SMELLS AS WELL. NO MATTER IF IT'S FLAT OR A HILL, FROM CRANKING IT OR AFTER DRIVING A WHILE, SHORT DISTANCE OR LONG DISTANCE, IT SMELLS LIKE HORRIBLE FUMES THAT MAKE ME SICK.
TIRES ARE WORN COMPLETELY OUT AT 25,000. HAVE HAD FLAKING AND SHREDDING TREAD DURING PREMATURE WEAR. 50,000 MILE TIRE

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HALDEMAN FORD (2443 LEHIGH ST, ALLENTOWN, PA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,910. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. GOSCH FORD TEMECULA (26895 YNEZ RD, TEMECULA, CA 92591, (951) 708-9148) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I BOUGHT MY FORD EXPLORER 2 YEARS AGO BRAND NEW AND EVERYS SINCE I BOUGHT IT I HAVE HAD HEADACHES. DIZZINESS WHILE DRIVING AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH IT. MY HUSBAND HAS ALSO BEEN TREATED FOR HEADACHES AND WE BELIEVE IT IS FROM OUR FORD, WE DON'T HAVE THESE ISSUES UNTIL WE ARE IN THE CAR FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. THE DASHBOARD GOES BLANK A LOT AND IT LOSES POWER.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE MAINLY OCCURRED WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO ACCELERATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND SUGGESTED TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GENTILINI FORD (555 JON S. PENN BLVD, WOODBINE, NJ) AND THE HEATER AND AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS REPROGRAMMED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,800.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MADISON FORD LOCATED AT 2895 S. SEMINOLE TRAIL, MADISON, VA 22727, (540) 948-6806, WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

IN ADDITION, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS INTERMITTENTLY DIMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHUCK COLVIN FORD NISSAN (1925 N HWY 99 W, MCMINNVILLE, OR 97128, (503) 472-6124) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
I HAVE OWNED MY VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEKS AND ALREADY I HAVE NOTICED A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE AUTOMATIC THIRD ROW SEATS THAT USE THE BUTTONS LOCATED ON THE LEFT WALL ARE COMPLETELY UNSAFE! ONCE ENGAGED THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO STOP IT FROM MOVING. I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE WRONG BUTTON, I WANTED TO FOLD THE LEFT SEAT BUT HIT THE RIGHT SEAT, AND I HAD NO WAY TO STOP IT FROM CRUSHING ALL OF MY BELONGING BEFORE IT STOPPED AND FOLDED BACK TO THE POSITION IT WAS PREVIOUSLY IN. THERE IS NO WAY TO DISABLE THESE BUTTONS. I HAVE A YOUNG CHILD AND I AM SCARED OF WHAT MAY HAPPEN IF SHE WERE TO HIT ONE OF THESE BUTTONS AND I CANNOT STOP THE SEAT FROM CLOSING ON HER. THIS FEATURE NEEDS A SHUT OFF SWITCH AND BUTTONS THAT ARE NOT EASILY ACCESSED FOR LITTLE FINGERS TO PUSH. I AM ALREADY IN THE PROCESS OF LOOKING FOR A NEW VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FEATURE.
STEERING IS MAKING GRINDING NOISE AND IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN, AT TIMES WHEN ENTERING CURVES OR DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK WHEN YOU HAVE TO FIRMLY GRASP IT AND IT THEN JERKS YOU EITHER DIRECTION. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE, IT'S LOSING STEERING CONTROL. GOING TO JERK ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR PULL ME OFF THE ROAD. I HAVE CHILDREN AND THIS IS OUR PRIMARY CAR TO DRIVE AND WE ARE AFRAID OF THE STEERING. IT HAPPENS ALSO JUST BACKING IN AND OUT . VERY STIFF TO CONTROL. SAFETY ISSUE IN ALL WAYS. I'VE TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A INTERNAL FAULT IN THE ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION STEERING ASSEMBLY. ESTIMATED COST $2100, THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED, IF ANYTHING THEY GET PLAY IN STEERING NOT FAILED OR BREAK, MAYBE IF CAR WAS OLD AND HAD 200K MILES. FORD HAS HAD ISSUES WITH STEERING ASSEMBLY ON EXPLORERS SINCE 2011 -2015 AND CLEARLY HAVE NOT FIXED THERE PROBLEMS. PROBLEM WITH STEERING IS STATIONARY, IN MOTION AND ON HIGHWAYS AND TURNING. HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE. NEVER KNOWING WHEN IT MAY DECIDE TO STOP WORKING AND LOCK UP ON ME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND CHEST, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BATTLEFIELD SERVICE CENTER IN MANASSAS, VIRGINIA, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. A DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE HAS 23,000 MILES, PURCHASED NEW IN 2016. TIRES HAVE PREMATURE TREAD WEAR AND ARE ALREADY WORN THIN TO THE POINT OF REPLACEMENT. CURRENT TIRE CONDITION IS NOT SAFE. TIRES ARE HANKOOK 255 50R20 105H VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2.
IN THE RECENT PAST BOTH REAR TIE RODS HAVE BROKEN, ONE AT A TIME WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON DIRT ROADS AT LESS THAN 18 MPH. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 27,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE WHEEL TURNS FROM STRAIGHT TO A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. THIS SO FAR HAS OCCURRED WHEN BEING DRIVEN SLOWLY. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM DON REID FORD ON THE STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT FOR LIGHT TRUCKS - 4WD. THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN TO AND FROM WORK AS WELL AS ON THE 196 MILES OF DIRT ROADS WITHIN THE ST. JOHNS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT. THIS VEHICLE DESIGN WAS CHANGED IN 2016 TO A TAURUS CHASSIS WITH WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE ALL WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE HAS TIE RODS AND CV AXLES IN THE FRONT AND REAR. IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE SUITABLE FOR PART TIME OFF ROAD USE. I AM CONCERNED THAT WHILE I AM TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO WORK THAT ONE OF THESE REAR TIE RODS WILL BREAK AND CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT RESULTING IN DEATH OR INJURY TO MYSELF.
IT JOLTS, LUNGES, TRANSMISSION DOESN'T ENGAGE AND SLAMS INTO GEAR HARD IT MAKES YOU FEEL YOU GOT REAR ENDED WITH A BIG BANK. SLOW TO ACCELERATE AND WHEN IT FINALLY DOES IT LUNGES

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE LANES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (FAIRWAY FORD OF EVANS, 4333 WASHINGTON RD, EVANS, GA 30809, (706) 854-9200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERNAL FAULT ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,442.
WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2017, AND NOTICED WEIRD SMELLS. TOOK IT ON A ROAD TRIP AND NOTICED THEM AGAIN IN JULY. AFTER THE LATE JULY 2017 NEWS RELEASE OF CO IN FORD EXPLORERS, WE USED CO MONITORS AND IN FACT, HAD CO READINGS. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER APPROX 10 TIME AND HAD THE TSB SERVICE PERFORMED, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I'VE HAD 3 DIFFERENT CASES OPEN WITH FORD, AND DURING THE LAST CASE, THEY DENIED MY "BUYBACK" REQUEST. PLEASE HELP. PHOTO ATTACHED AND VIDEOS CAN BE MAILED IN THAT SHOW CO LEVELS AND THEN SHOW CO LEVELS GOING TO ZERO WHEN WE ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW. WE HAVE HAD CO PROBLEMS FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. 2016 FORD EXPLORER STARTED MAKING A NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 60 MPH AND THE STEERING BECAME JERKY AND DIDN'T WANT TO STEER. THIS WAS AT SOMEWHERE AROUND 38000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHEN I GOT HOME AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A RIGHT TIE ROD END. THE TIE ROD END WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $200+. THE FORD EXPLORER CONTINUED MAKING A NOISE AT A LOW SPEED AND WIFE STATED THAT THE STEERING WAS JERKY WHEN SHE DROVE IT. TOOK IT BACK TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT A NUT HAD CAME OFF IN THE STEERING BOX AND THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS IT WAS SO AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR. THE REPAIR WAS DONE AT 40634 MILES. SO FAR THIS APPEARS TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM.
MY 2016 LIMITED FORD EXPLORER WITH ABOUT 38000 MILES BEGAN MAKING A NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE STEERING WAS JERKY AND WOULD HANG. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHEN I RETURNED HOME AND THEY REPLACE THE RIGHT TIE ROD END AT A COST OF $200+. THE EXPLORER CONTINUED TO MAKE A NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS. WIFE SAID THAT THE STEERING WAS JERKY WHEN SHE DROVE IT. TOOK IT BACK TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT A NUT HAD COME OFF IN THE STEERING BOX AND IT NEEDED A COMPLETE STEERING RACK. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS IT WAS SO AUTHORIZED THE REPLACEMENT. COST THIS TIME WAS $1685.67. THE EXPLORER HAD 40634MILES ON IT WHEN THIS WAS DONE. GOT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE STEERING IS A RATHER COMMON PROBLEM ON FORD EXPLORERS.
BOTH HORNS ARE DEAD.
HANKOOK TIRES ARE SHREDDING UNDER NORMAN CITY DRIVING. CAR HAS APPROX 30,000 KMS. SIDE ARE PERFECT, ONLY IN THE CENTER OF THE TIRE IS THERE ANY SHREDDING. LITERALLY, LARGE CHUNKS OF TIRE MISSING. DRIVING IS CITY PAVEMENT. UNDER 50 MPH
DASH/SPEEDOMETER WENT BLACK - HEAT AND AIR SYSTEM INOPERABLE - NO TURN SIGNALS - POWER DECREASED AND POWER STEERING NOT FULLY FUNCTIONING. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WHEN I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND REALIZED THE RADIO AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUTTING OFF SO I RESTARTED THE CAR AND STILL NOTHING. DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY - THIS DID FIX PART OF THE PROBLEMS BUT THE SYNCH HEALTH REPORT IS STILL NOT SHOWING COMPLETLELY CLEAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN WENT OFF AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES . CONCERNED IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY IF THIS IS A POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM - CAR IS JUST AT 23K MILES AND ALSO HAD TO HAVE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AT AROUD ONLY 3K MILES. NOT FELING SAFE IN THE CAR AT THIS POINT.
THE ELETRIC POWER STEERING FAILED. AND WOULD FAIL AND THEN BE OK AFTER RESTARTS BUT WOULD FAIL WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AND MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AT ALL SPEEDS, OFTEN LOCKING ITSELF DURING A TURN AND REQUIRING SIGNIFICANT EFFORT TO CORRECT. OFTEN DANGEROUSLY HARD TO STEER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I NOTICED THIS WAS A PREVIOUS ISSUE WITH FORD VEHICLES...
MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING IN OUR 2016 FORD EXPLORER ON SATURDAY WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED "STICKING" WHILE GOING AROUND CURVES. I WAS DRIVING AT 60-65 MPH ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY, GOING AROUND A CURVE TO THE LEFT WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STUCK AND HAD TO BE FORCEFULLY PULLED BACK TO STRAIGHTEN UP. I SLOWED THE VEHICLE TO ABOUT 45 MPH AND WAS PREPARING TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER WHEN MESSAGES STARTED APPEARING ON THE INFORMATION CENTER. THE MESSAGES STATED "STEERING FAULT STOP NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC". THANKFULLY, AS I WAS PULLING OFF THE NEXT EXIT, THERE WAS A FORD DEALERSHIP. AT THIS POINT, THE I AS STILL ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE WITH SOME FORCE. AFTER PULLING INTO THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT, I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE MESSAGES STILL APPEARED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN AT ALL, EVEN WITH FORCE. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TODAY AND SAID THAT THE STEERING GEAR RACK NEEDED REPLACED AND THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND THE ISSUE ISN'T COVERED UNDER RECALL. HE STATED THAT THE TOTAL REPAIR WOULD BE $1842. I FEEL THAT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE IS THIS MAGNITUDE, FORD SHOULD STEP UP CORRECT THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT.
THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE FORD EXPLORER DUE TO EXHAUST LEAKING INTO THE CABIN. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED TWO MONTHS AGO AND WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS FIXED. HOWEVER, FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE AMOUNT OF EXHAUST IN THE CABIN IN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING CONTINUES TO INCREASE TO THE POINT THAT IT IS AFFECTING MY AND MY FAMILY'S HEALTH. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY TO FIGURE OUT IF I HAVE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING FROM PROLONG EXPOSURE TO THESE FUMES AS I HAVE BEEN EXHIBITING MANY OF THE SYMPTOMS FOR THE PAST WEEK AND SMELL EXHAUST FUMES ALL OF THE TIME EVEN WHEN I AM NOT VEHICLE. IF I TEST POSITIVE I WILL HAVE MY FAMILY TESTED AS WELL, BUT THIS ISSUE MUST BE RESOLVED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR GOD FORBID DIES. AS YOU KNOW THERE ARE ALSO DELAYED NEUROLOGICAL MANIFESTATIONS WHICH WORRIES ME THE MOST AS I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN EXPOSED.
WHEN KEEPING A STEADY SPEED, RPMS FLUCTUATE UP AND DOWN CAUSING A JERKY MOVEMENT WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENS RANDOMLY OR AFTER IDLING FOR A FEW MINUTES. ALSO, POWER DECREASES DURING THIS EVENT, SO WHEN TAKING OFF, CAR DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE, THEN LURCHES FORWARD. ALSO, WHEN ACCELERATING, PARTICULARLY UPHILL, A BURNING SMELL COMES FROM THE VEHICLE.
FORD EXPLORER RECALL - EXHAUST LEAKING INTO CABIN I TOOK MY VEHICLES INTO CROUSE FORD DUE TO THE RECALL ON MY 2016 EXPLORER. OVER THE NEXT TWO MONTHS I DROVE THE VEHICLE DAILY, BUT AS TIME WENT ON I STARTED TO FEEL DIZZY, NAUSEOUS AND HAD CONSTANT HEADACHES. I DID NOT PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER UNTIL WE DROVE A LONG DISTANCE AND MY DAUGHTER WHO SAT IN THE REAR SEAT HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I DECIDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SERVICE CENTER AND THEY FOUND TWO ADDITIONAL LEAKS. AT FIRST FORD TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST EVEN THOUGH IT WAS TIED TO THE RECALL SINCE I NOTICED IT AFTER TWO MONTHS OF THE ORIGINAL FIX. WHERE THE EXHAUST WAS LEAKING HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR RECALL FIX. AFTER 5 DAYS THEY DECIDED TO COVER 80% OF THE COST. I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT THEY HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE, BUT ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN BEFORE THIS RECALL KILLS SOMEONE OR PERMANENTLY AFFECTS THEM. I JUST HOPE THAT I DO NOT HAVE LONG TERM AFFECTS FROM BEING EXPOSED FOR THAT LENGTH OF TIME.

I WAS DRIVING ON I-94 EAST IN HARRISON TWP, MI ON 3/9/18. I WAS TRAVELING A 70 MPH. I HEARD SOMETHING AND SUDDENLY I AM SAW WHITE ALL AROUND ME LIKE A TUNNEL. AT THAT MOMENT I WAS STILL IN MY LANE. WITHIN SECONDS THE I HAD NO CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AS THOUGH I HAD NO BRAKES OR STEERING. MY CAR VEERED LEFT HITTING THE CEMENT MEDIAN. THE CAR ROLLED ON ITS LEFT SIDE AND EVENTUALLY FLIPPED BACK UPRIGHT. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE ACCIDENT. MY DAUGHTER, 14, AND I WERE IN THE VEHICLE AND WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MINOR INJURIES. ON 3/8/18 MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT THE FORD DEALER TO REPLACE A WHEEL BEARING. THE SERVICE MAN MADE A COMMENT ABOUT OUR TIRES WEARING QUICKLY AND SHREDDING. WE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THEM AT 22,500 MILES. CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE HAD 58,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I TRULY THINK THE ACCIDENT WAS DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE CAR. I CALLED FORD TO REPORT THE INCIDENT AND THEY REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE AND WOULDN'T EVEN SEND BE A LETTER STATING THEY WOULD NOT. AT 13,369 MILES ALL 4 TIRES WERE REPLACE UNDER "WARRANTY". THE FRONT TIRE TREADS WERE "FLACKING/PEELING" . THE WORK WAS DONE BY MATHEWS-CURRIE FORD, 130 TAMIAMI TRIAL NORTH, NOKOMIS FL 34275, ON 5/10/17, RO # 6199123/1. OUR COST FOR THE TIRES WAS $419.62. WE WERE FORCED BY HANCOOK TO REPLACE "LIKE WITH LIKE". AT 23,101 MILES I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALER TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. THE REPLACEMENT TIRES ARE AGAIN "FLACKING/PEELING." THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT WE WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THEM WITH THE SAME TIRES. THEY ALSO TELL ME THAT THIS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS BRAND OF TIRES. MY BACKGROUND IS THAT OF AN EXECUTIVE IN THE OE AND AFTERMARKET AUTOMOTIVE AND HEAVY TRUCK INDUSTRY. MY EMPLOYERS MANUFACTURED FOUNDATION BRAKES, BRAKE CHAMBERS AND RIDE CONTROL. WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2016 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED (34,731 MILES) THROUGH TOWN AT APPROX. 25MPH, SLOWED DOWN, AND ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A TOWN ROAD, BUT OUR VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN. AFTER WE CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WE REALIZED THAT WE COULD STILL TURN THE VEHICLE IF WE MANHANDLED THE STEERING WHEEL. A STEERING CODE FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD. AT THAT POINT WE REALIZED WE HAD NO POWER STEERING. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AND CAREFULLY DROVE IT OVER TO THEM TO FIX. THEY VERIFIED THE POWER STEERING WAS INOPERABLE, RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, AND REPLACED STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY R&I FRONT SUB FRAME. SEE ATTACHED SERVICE RECORD. AFTER RESEARCHING, WE FOUND THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE HAD WE BEEN ON A HIGHWAY. THIS IS A SERIOUS FAILURE THAT COULD HAVE HURT OR KILLED PEOPLE. HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL?
SAME ISSUE AS NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11042260. AT 7,000 MILES WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES INTO REVERSE WE HEAR A LOUD THUMPING SOUND AS THOUGH YOU RAN OVER SOMETHING. THIS IS HAPPENS MORE WHEN REVERSING WITH A TURN THAN STRAIGHT BUT SELDOM WHILE BACKING STRAIGHT OUT AS WELL. AT 7,500 MILE SERVICE THE ISSUE WAS BOUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP, THE TECH DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY RDU (REAR DRIVE UNIT) WHICH WAS PLACED ON ORDER. THE DEALER HAS NOT YET RESPONDED TO THE STATUS OF THE PART WHICH HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH! YET THE DEALERSHIP ASKED US WHY WE RATED THE UNSATISFACTORY! AT THIS POINT IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS WOULD SOLVED THE PROBLEM AS THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS NOT YET BEEN INSTALLED.
2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHEN PUTTING CAR IN REVERSE THERE IS A LOUD THUD THEN WHEN PUTTING IT IN DRIVE ANOTHER LOUD THUD THAT ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE I HIT SOMETHING. THEN WHEN TRYING TO GIVE IT GAS IT WILL ACT AS IF IT IS IN NEUTRAL. THE GAS IS PRESSED BUT WON'T GO AND ENGINE WILL JUST REV. THEN IT WILL START CUTTING OUT AS IF IT IS GOING TO DIE. I CAN ONLY GET UP TO ABOUT 30 MPH DURING THIS TIME. AFTER DRIVING FOR A SHORT TIME IT'S LIKE IT WARMS UP AND WILL QUIT. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND I CAN GO A WEEK OR TWO WITHOUT IT HAPPENING AT ALL. AND WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN IT WILL ONLY HAPPEN IN THE MORNING AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING ALL NIGHT. I STARTED PRESSING ON THE GAS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING (PUSH BUTTON) AND THEN BEFORE PUTTING IN GEAR WILL PRESS ON THE GAS SEVERAL TIMES AND REV THE ENGINE AND THE CUTTING OUT SYMPTOMS WILL NOT HAPPEN HOWEVER THE THUD NOISE HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY STILL.

VEHICLE HAS 15K MILES NOW AND I AM HEARING A LOUD POPPING / CREAKING SOUND THAT OCCURS WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. IT'S MOST NOTICEABLE AT A SLOWER RATE OF SPEED WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE OR TURNING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. TODAY, ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHEN TURNING LEFT THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND I HAD TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO GO STRAIGHT AGAIN. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THERE IS ANOTHER LOUD POP SOUND THAT CAN BE HEARD. THIS IS A MAJOR COMPLAINT ACROSS THE BOARD WITH 2014 - 2016 EXPLORERS ALONG WITH THE WHEEL BEARING, SUSPENSION AND LOSS OF POWER COMPLAINTS.
THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE FRONT PARKING SENSORS WHERE AFTER FREEZING, WATER CAN ENTER THE OPENING OF PARKING SENSOR AND SHORT CIRCUIT THE WIRING HARNESS CAUSING THE PARKING AID SYSTEM TO FAULT. THIS PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM UTILIZING THIS KEY SAFETY FEATURE WHEN PARKING OR BEING ALERTED ON THEIR CLOSE PROXIMITY OF SURROUNDING OBJECTS.
I HAVE NOTICED THERES A BURNING SMELLING FROM HEATER/AC VENTS RIGHT AFTER ACCELERATION FROM VEHICLE BEING STOPPED. I CAN CONFIRM ITS A BURNING SMELL (SIMILAR TO BURNING PLASTIC OR RUBBER). IT FEELS LIKE THAT KIND OF POOR ACCELERATION ISSUE. THE BURNING SMELLS LAST FOR ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES AND I'M NOT SURE WHERE ITS COMING FROM. THE ODOR IS A VERY STRONG ODOR AND I'M WAITING FOR A FIRE TO BREAK OUT SOMEWHERE WHEN THIS ODOR IS PRESENT. I HAVE A SERVICE APPT ON MONDAY, FEB 26 AND HOPEFULLY SOMETHING WILL BE FOUND. THE LAST THING I WANT IS TO BE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE BREAKS DOWN, LET ALONE CATCHES FIRE FOR SOME REASON.

AT 09:05, I SLID FOR MORE THAN 500 FEET INTO AN INTERSECTION (NO ICE PRESENT) INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HAD ONCOMING TRAFFIC NOT STOPPED AND MY VEHICLE FINALLY TURNING 90 DEGREES, I WOULD'VE BEEN T-BONED IN A BAD ACCIDENT.
