SINCE THE CONTACT WAS SUFFERING FROM A COLD AT THE TIME, SHE COULD NOT DETERMINE IF THERE WAS AN ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK HOME. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,315.
BEEN GETTING HEADACHES FOR THE PAST MONTH AS WELL AS DIZZINESS AND FEELINGS OF NAUSEA. YESTERDAY CAR HAD OVERWHELMING EXHAUST ODOR INSIDE OF CAR THAT MADE ME EXTREMELY ILL ALL DAY YESTERDAY... I DID CALL FORD AND THEY HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALER WHO STATED THEY WILL CHANGE OUT CLIPS. WANT TO BE SURE TO REPORT AS IT APPEARS IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE TYPLE.. THE SMELL COULD BE SMELT AS SOON AS CAR WAS TURNED ON, AND WORSENED AS CAR WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD. FASTER THE CAR WOULD MOVE THE WORSE IT GOT.
UNDER ACCELERATION THERE ARE INSTANCES OF WHAT SEEM TO BE EXHAUST FUMES BEING PRESENT IN THE CABIN OF OUR EXPLORER. THIS HAS LED TO HEADACHES FOR MYSELF, MY WIFE AND OUR 7 YEAR OLD SON.
HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES SIZE 255/50R20 105H. THEY CAME ON MY VEHICLE WHEN I BOUGHT IT BACK IN JUNE 2016. I ONLY HAVE 13,900 MILES ON MY TIRES AND THE TREADS SPLITTING, CRACKING AND PEELING HORRIBLY THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WARRANTIED FOR 50,000 MILES. I WENT TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE TIRES AND THEY CONTACTED HANKOOK AND THEY ARE PRO-RATING MY TIRES AS 50% TREAD WORN AND GOING TO MAKE ME PAY FOR 2 NEW TIRES BUT SAID THEY ARE DISCOUNTING THEM BUT WITH ME PRICING THE TIRES THEY AREN'T. TIRES AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE DOING THIS LESS THAN 14,000 MILES. I SAW OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE ON HOW HORRIBLE THE TIRES ARE AND THE SAME HAPPENING WITH THEM. I WOULD OF NEVER KNOWN THIS IF IT WASN'T TO CHECK MY TIRES AND THE PERSON AT THE TIRE PLACE TOLD ME HOW BAD THE TIRES ARE.

WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CARBON MONOXIDE UNIT INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE ALERTED THE CONTACT OF THE FUMES. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (STIVERS FORD LINCOLN, 1450 E. HICKMAN RD, WAUKEE, IA 50263), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
SUDDENLY HAVE AN INFLUX OF EXHAUST FUMES IN CABIN AREA WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING BUT ESPECIALLY WHILE IDLING. APPEARS TO ENTER FROM AIR CONDITIONER AND THERE IS A STRONG ODOR UNDER THE HOOD.
THE TIRES ON YM 2016 FORD EXPLORER ARE THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN. I HAVE UNDER 24,000 MILES ON MY LEASED XLT MODEL AND THE TIRES ARE LITERALLY SHREDDING. THERE IS MORE HORROR STORIES AT THE CONSUMER REPORTS REVIEW OF THE TIRE... IT IS THE 255/50R20 TIRE.... UNBELIEVABLE THAT FORD WOULD SEND THESE OUT WITH THEIR VEHICLES. I BOUGHT THE 2016 FORD EXPLORER XLT LAST WEEK FROM A FORD DEALER, I DROVE IT HOME WHICH IS 35-40 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAD SEVERE HEADACHE. THERE WAS AN ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN WHICH WAS CAUSING THE HEADACHE/NAUSEA. WE COULDNT EXPLAIN WHY THE ODOR WAS THERE AND WHEN WE RESEARCHED ONLINE, WE WERE SHOCKED TO FIND THAT THE FORD EXPLORER HAD THE CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK ISSUE. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO DRIVE OUR CAR FOR MORE THAN 15-20 MINUTES WITHOUT GETTING A HEADACHE.
FROM THE DAY I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER SPORT, THERE WAS A PROMINENT SMELL IN THE CABIN THAT APPEARED UNDER MODERATE ACCELERATION. I INITIALLY BELIEVED IT TO BE CAUSED BY THE "BREAKING IN" OF A NEW ENGINE. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. PASSENGERS WOULD CONTINUALLY ASK ME ABOUT THE AWFUL "ROTTEN EGG" SMELL IN MY EXPLORER. I WAS GETTING HEADACHES AND FEELING NAUSEOUS AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING MY EXPLORER. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND COUNTLESS REPORTS OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH THEIR EXPLORERS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AUTO NATION FORD IN SCOTTSDALE, AZ AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THEY'VE HAD SEVERAL FOLKS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON HOW TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW LEADING TO THE EXHAUST FUMES RE-ENTERING THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE ADVISOR INDICATED THEY WOULD NEED THE CAR FOR AT LEAST A WEEK TO RE-SEAL THE SYSTEM TO MINIMIZE THE PROBLEM. AFTER HAVING MY VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, I RECEIVED IT BACK AND THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. I RETURNED THE CAR TO FORD AND THEY ARRANGED FOR ME TO HAVE LOANER EXPLORER WHILE THEY WORKED ON MINE. IT HAD THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. MY EXPLORER WAS AT THE DEALER FOR WELL OVER A MONTH AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE WAITING FOR FORD TO ENGINEER AND MANUFACTURE THE PARTS NEEDED TO FULLY RESOLVE THE EXHAUST LEAKS. AFTER FINALLY GETTING THE CAR BACK, THE ISSUE INITIALLY SEEMED TO IMPROVE, BUT QUICKLY RETURNED. THE DEALER HAS STATED THEY HAVE DONE ALL THEY CAN AND THAT NO OTHER FIX EXISTS. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND UNSAFE. I HAVE A WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN AND I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING WITH THEM IN THE VEHICLE BEYOND VERY SHORT TRIPS. WE'VE EVEN GONE SO FAR AS TO RENT VEHICLES FOR FAMILY ROAD TRIPS DUE TO THE ISSUES WITH OUR EXPLORER.

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the gear position sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 12,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY PREGNANT WIFE (31 WEEKS) AND MY 22 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER TO CHURCH THIS PAST SUNDAY (1/14/18), WHEN WE ENTERED A SHARP LEFT HAND CURVE. WE GOT TO THE HALFWAY POINT IN THE TURN WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND SENT US INTO A DITCH AND BANK. THANK GOD NOBODY WAS COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OR WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE! THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING; NO LIGHT, NO SENSOR, NOTHING. THE WHEEL SIMPLY LOCKED TIGHT IN THE TURNED POSITION AT ROUGHLY 30 MPH. I LATER LEARNED FORD HAS BEEN USING ELECTRONIC CONTROLLED POWER STEERING AND THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE ACROSS VARIOUS FORD MODELS WITH NO KNOWN RECALLS. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED THAT CAN'T TELL THEIR STORY? THERE IS NO WAY WE'LL BE KEEPING THIS VEHICLE AND FORD SHOULD BE MADE TO REDESIGN THEIR STEERING OR RETURN IT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL, BELT-DRIVEN DESIGN.
VERY STRONG EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING VEHICLE AT OR ABOVE 3500 RPM. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEED. ENTIRE CAB FILLS WITH FUMES IMMEDIATELY AND DOES NOT DISAPATE UNTIL ALL WINDOWS ARE ROLLED DOWN. EXPERIENCED HEADACHES, DIZZINESS AND NAUSEA. OWNER HAD TO TRADE VEHICLE (AT THEIR EXPENSE) AS DEFECT WAS CAUSING DAILY HEALTH PROBLEMS. FORD NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO NOTIFY CONSUMERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE VEHICLE IS PURCHASED. OWNER HAD 2015 FORD EXPLORER WITH SAME PROBLEM AND WON LEMON LAW CASE AGAINST FORD - LEMON LAW ARBITRATORS SMELLED WHAT THEY DESCRIBED AS EXHAUST FUMES DURING LEMON LAW HEARING TEST DRIVE. FORD REPAIR ATTEMPTS DO NOT WORK! NHTSA AND FORD NEED TO DETERMINE FIX OR RECALL VEHICLES. EXHAUST FUMES CONTAIN CARBON MONOXIDE AS WELL AS MANY OTHER TOXIC CHEMICALS. FORD ADMITS EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING VEHICLE BUT CLAIMS LOW VOLUME/SAFE. PLEASE CONSIDER THAT INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN CANNOT BE EXPOSED TO SAME CARBON MONOXIDE LEVELS AS ADULTS WITHOUT VERY SERIOUS AND LIFE THREATENING HARM. ASK A DOCTOR, NOT FORD!!!
CAR HAS SMELLED AWFUL SINCE LEASING. BEING GASSED WITH CARBON MONOXIDE EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. TOOK IN FOR RECALL TO VARSITY LINCOLN. THEY DID NOT ADDRESS IT. DROVE CAR TO FRANKENMUTH FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER 1 1/2 HOUR RIDE. SOMETHING POPPED AND THE MOST AWFUL GAS SMELL CAME OUT AND NEVER WENT AWAY EVERYBODY AROUND US COULD SMELL IT. DROPPED IT OFF AT TOM HOLZER FORD. THEY ADDRESSED THE RECALL AND SMELL BY PUTTING ADSHESIVE (TAPE) AND SEALANT (GLUE) CALLED AND TOLD IT IT WAS READY. THE SMELL WAS NOT GONE TOOK IT BACK 4 DAYS LATER. WAS TOLD THE TRANSFER CASE BLEW AND THEY WOULD NEED IT FOR A FEW DAYS TO FIX IT. PICK UP CAR STILL SMELLED AWFUL. WENT UP NORTH LAST WEEK. THREE HOUR RIDE. THE FIRST HOUR I HAD THE BACK WINDOWS OPEN AS ALWAYS CAUSE I KNOW I AM BEING POISONED. THE NEXT TWO HOURS WERE POURING RAIN COULD NO LONGER DRIVE WITH WINDOWS OPEN. STOPPED FOR GAS AND GROCERIES. GOT OUT OF EXPLORER AND WAS DIZZY, NAUSEATED AND MY HEART HURT COULDN'T THINK OF WHAT GROCERIES I NEEDED CLERK ASKED IF I WAS OK. TOLD HIM NOT SURE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME FIGURED IT OUT I WAS POISONED CARBON MONOXIDE
WE NOW DRIVE WITH WINDOWS PARTIALLY OPEN DUE TO CARBON MONOXIDE EXHAUST GAS ENTERING THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF OUR 2016 FORD EXPLORER. WE ARE ASSUMING THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE THE PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY REPAIR PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, WHILE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT BECAME ILL FROM THE EXHAUST FUMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
BEGAN FEELING VERY SICK ON FRIDAY JANUARY 5TH, CAR HAD BAD EXHAUST SMELL. HEADACHE, DIZZINESS, NAUSEA, THIS CONTINUED OVER THE WEEKEND SO MUCH SO THAT I DID NOT DRIVE ANYWHERE SUNDAY FROM 1:00 ON OR AT ALL ON MONDAY. WOKE UP TUESDAY FEELING OK AND DROVE MY CAR TO WORK, WHILE DRIVING THE 4 MILES ON THE FWY TO GET THERE MY CAR STARTED SMOKING PROFUSELY FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO FORD, IT IS STILL THERE. THEY ARE REFUSING TO PAY FOR REPAIRS, THEY SAY TURBO ENGINE AND ENGINE NEED REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. COULD THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE EXHAUST ISSUES I SEE PEOPLE KEEP HAVING? NEVER ONCE DID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE (2 YRS, 2 MONTHS) COULD THERE REALLY BE THAT MUCH WRONG WITH THE CAR WITHOUT EVEN A HINT THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT?

SAFETY RISKA FRONT SEAT CUSHION WITH A MISSING UPPER LEFT-HAND PIVOT BOLT MAY EXPERIENCE INCREASED SEAT DEFLECTION IN A CRASH AND NOT PROPERLY RESTRAIN OCCUPANTS, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY. REMEDYOWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL AND INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD OR LINCOLN DEALER TO MEASURE THE TORQUE OF THE POWER SEAT TRACK UPPER PIVOT LINK BOLT. IF THE BOLT PASSES THE TORQUE INSPECTION, DEALERS WILL REMOVE AND CLEAN THE BOLT, APPLY NEW THREADLOCK, AND REINSTALL THE BOLT TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE. THIS REPAIR WILL COMPLETE THE FSA. IF THE BOLT FAILS THE TORQUE INSPECTION, THREADLOCK WILL BE ADDED AND THE BOLT WILL BE REINSTALLED AS AN INTERIM REPAIR FOR SOLD UNITS UNTIL THE FINAL REPAIR IS AVAILABLE. REAR WINDOW ON LIFT GATE EXPLODED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. SIDE DOOR WAS OPENED TO THE VEHICLE, AND THEN THE BACK WINDOW BLEW OUT. THIS CAUSED SMALL GLASS PIECES TO FALL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHEN THE CONTACT FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED AN ABNORMAL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PERFORMED A CARBON MONOXIDE TEST INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND IT READ 141 PPM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD EAST (28825 EUCLID AVE, WICKLIFFE, OH 44092, (440) 296-3020) WHERE THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,600.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the instrument panel intermittently went blank. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The contact was informed that the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer provided the contact with an estimate for the repair and agreed to cover half the cost of the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

2016 FORD EXPLORER ACCELERATES WHILE DRIVING. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF DEALERSHIP SINCE 12/26/17. I AM CURRENTLY IN A LOANER VEHICLE. RECEIVE UPDATE FIRST WEEK OF FEB 2018 THAT THE TRANSMISSION DEPT WAS BEHIND AND THAT THEY WILL LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT EXHAUST ENTERING THIS VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. FORD'S REMEDY IS NOT CORRECTING THE DEFECT. SOME PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN THEIR VEHICLES TO THE DEALER UP TO 7 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. SOME PEOPLE HAVE PASSED OUT FROM THE FUMES AND CRASHED THEIR VEHICLES. I WILL FIX THE PROBLEM MYSELF OR WAIT UNTIL YOU OR FORD KNOWS THE REAL CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AND DECIDES TO FIX IT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO PACIFY THE OWNERS.
I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND MY SUV SUDDENLY STARTED LOOSING POWER AND JERKING (HESITATING TO MOVE) I PULLED OVER AND STARTED TO SMELL BURNING OIL OR VERY UNIQUE SMELL ALMOST LIKE BURNING BREAK FLUID OR CARBON. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SMELL WAS NOTICED IMMEDIATELY BY THE SERVICE REP. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE AND CANNOT EXPLAIN THE SMELL IN MY CARS CABIN. THE SMELL IS SO STRONG WHEN PARKED OR DURING IDLE THAT WE CANNOT RUN THE AC OR HEATER FOR FEAR OF THE SMELL MAKING YA ALL SICK. FORD WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY INSIGHT OR HELP AND THE SMELL IS LITERALLY HARMING ME AND MY CHILDREN. THE ISSUE IS ONGOING AND THE SMELL HAS NOT LET UP. MOST OF THEM ARE SAYING IN SOME CASES THE SUV DIED WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE DEALERS ARE SAYING ITS THE BATTERY BUT IN MOST CASES THE SUV HAS ONLY A COUPLE OF THOUSAND MILES ON IT OR IS ONLY A YEAR OLD. SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED IF THIS IS NOT ADDRESSED SOON. AS OF NOW, OURS HAPPENS WHEN EITHER IN PARK PRIOR TO RUNNING OR SHUTTING DOWN THE SUV HOWEVER IN RESEARCHING IT, THIS IS HAPPENING IN THE F150, EXPLORER, AND A NUMBER OF OTHER FORD CARS AND TRUCKS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND CANADA. SHE DRIVES APPROX 10 MILES EACH WAY TO WORK AND ON WEEKENDS MAYBE 20 OR 30 MILES. THIS IS NOT COUNTING NUMEROUS ERRANDS RUN SO ITS NOT LACK OF DRIVING.

HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES THAT ARE ON THE EXPLORER ARE FAULTY CAUSING THE THREAD TO SHRED. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED MY TIRES TO COME SORT WHILE DRIVING AND POSSIBLE COLLISION & INJURY. THERE WAS ONLY 12,995 MILES ON THEM. NO EXTREME DRIVING CONDITIONS ETC. I HAD TO REPLACE TODAY.
POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND ENGINE CONTROL MODULE FAILED UNDER HIGH SPEED ON A 4 LANE ROAD. WE WERE ALMOST KILLED BY BEING REAR-ENDED TRAFFIC AS VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, ENGINE OFF, AND COMPLETELY DEAD. NOT ABLE TO STEER OR BRAKE. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 12,854 ACTUAL MILES. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, ALARMS GO OFF AND A NOTICE SAYING 'STEERING ASSIST FAULT' IS DISPLAYED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 DIFFERENT TIME AT RANDOM. 1 TIME, THE STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER STEERING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS THIS IS A FAMILY VEHICLE TRANSPORTING VERY YOUNG CHILDREN.

WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE THERE IS A CONSTANT ODOR OF NATURAL GAS OR EXHAUST LIKE SMELL. THE LONGER THE PERIOD OF TIME THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED THE MORE INTENSE THE ODOR BECOMES. IF THE WINDOWS ARE OPENED THE ODOR DISSIPATES BUT SOON RETURNS. A CHECK OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM SHOWED NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. THE ODOR IS CONSTANT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OWNED.

CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE
IN OCTOBER 2017 I STARTED EXPERIENCING HEADACHES, LUNG CONGESTION, SINUS DRAINAGE AND OVERALL FATIGUE. I NORMALLY WORK OUT AT THE GYM 4 OR 5 DAYS A WEEK BUT GOT TO THE POINT THAT I WAS COUGHING TO MUCH TO EXERCISE. MT BLOOD PRESSURE WENT UP AS WELL AS MY BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS. I PUT MY EXPLORER IN FOR SERVICE TWICE BECAUSE OF THE SMELL. THE SMELL WAS STRONGEST WHEN I WAS DRIVING (ABOUT ONE HOUR TO AND FROM WORK) WITH THE HEAT ON. THE SMELL GOT BETTER WHEN I SET THE VENTS TO CYCLE THE INTERNAL AIR.

DOCUMENTING COMPLAINT WITH NTSB AS THIS SHOULD LEAD TO RECALL, NOT JUST VOLUNTARY FIX.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CURRIE FORD IN VALPERASO, IN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

I PASSED OUT WHILE DRIVING MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER DOWN THE FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE WENT OFF THE ROADWAY AND DOWN THE EMBANKMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THERE IS NOW A FORD RECALL ON THE VEHICLE, ISSUED TODAY, 10/26/2017 (FORD RECALL: 17N03) FOR CARBON MONOXIDE CONCERNS. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR MONTHS AND NOT ISSUED A RECALL UNTIL MANY MONTHS LATER. AT THE TIME OF MY COLLISION, THE COUNTY I LIVE IN WAS IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY AND I WENT TO THE 1 OPEN HOSPITAL. DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND NOT THINKING THAT CARBON MONOXIDE COULD HAVE CAUSED THE INCIDENT, I DID NOT GET BLOOD WORK DONE TO CONFIRM IF I HAD BEEN POISONED BY CARBON MONOXIDE.
