ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT YET RECD. ANY LETTERS FROM FORD ON REPAIRING MY EXPLORER, MY SON OFTEN COMPLAINTS OF UNEASINESS AND NAUSEA WHEN SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT OF MY CAR. I DON'T PARTICULARLY NOTICE ANY SMELL BUT I AM NOW CONCERNED THAT THIS IS RELATED TO THE OTHER NEWS AROUND FUMES AND CO ENTERING THE CABIN. THIS HAPPENS SPECIALLY WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AND A/C IS ON WITH A/C WINDOWS CLOSED. I NOTICED THIS ONLY DURING OUR SUMMER BREAK THIS TIME WHEN MY SON SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN THE CAR AS OPPOSED TO SCHOOL NIGHTS.
VERY SOON AFTER ACCELERATING ANYWHERE NEAR FULL THROTTLE WE SMELL A BURNING TYPE EMISSIONS SMELL WITHIN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE IN THE BACKSEATS BUT IS ALARMING ENOUGH TO WHERE WE NEED TO OPEN THE WINDOWS EVERY TIME WE NEED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY. *TR
STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN CABIN WHENEVER HARD ACCELERATION. FOR EXAMPLE ANYTIME I AM GETTING ON THE FREEWAY FREEWAY.
NOTICED 2 WEEKS AGO THAT THE HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE2 TIRES ON OUR EXPLORER WERE PEELING AND CHUNKS WERE COMING OUT. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER SINCE THEY HAD JUST PERFORMED A TIRE ROTATION A COUPLE WEEKS PRIOR AND SAID THE TIRES WERE IN GOOD SHAPE. THEY SAID "OH, YOU HAVE THE HANKOOK? THOSE ARE KNOWN FOR THAT". THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THEM. CONTACTED HANKOOK AND FORD. WE WERE TOLD THEY WOULD PUT NEW HANKOOK TIRES ON, BUT AFTER LOOKING AT THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND THE FACT THAT HANKOOK LISTS THE TIRES AS "THE HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRE IS AN ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE ALL-SEASON TIRE THAT IS DEVELOPED SPECIFICALLY FOR HIGH END SPORTS CARS AND MAXIMUM HANDLING." THIS WOULD MEAN THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR A 4 WHEEL DRIVE SUV. WE ARE STILL DEALIGN WITH FORD TO TRY AND GET A DIFFERENT TIRE PUT ON OUR VEHICLE. HOW SUCH AN UNSAFE TIRE CAN BE SOMETHING THAT A CAR DEALER AND MANUFACTURER CAN KNOWINGLY PUT ON A CAR WHEN "IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS TIRE" IS BEYOND MY UNDERSTANDING. TREAD WEAR WAS AT 11,100 WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND ACCELERATING, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL CARBON MONOXIDE ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT AND HER FIVE YEAR OLD SON SUSTAINED HEADACHES AND NAUSEA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (FREDERICK FORD, 26905 SUSSEX HWY, SEAFORD, DE, 19973) THREE TIMES IN ONE MONTH TO REMEDY THE EXHAUST ISSUE, BUT THE REMEDY FAILED ALL THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE REGIONAL MANAGER WITHIN ONE BUSINESS DAY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.
WHENEVER YOU ACCELERATE QUICKLY OR PUT THE ENGINE UNDER STRAIN (SUCH AS GOING UP A HILL) AND THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON AND RECYCLE MODE IS ENGAGED YOU GET A STRONG EXHAUST ODOR INTO THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT THE FIX HAS NOT WORKED.
CONSTANT EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS ROUGHLY 13,000 MILES AND MY CHILDREN HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT ON ROAD TRIPS.
ALL 4 HANOOK TIRES DOT # 5MNC 1A H (0216) 255/50/R20 TREADS HAVE BEEN CHIPPING RESULTING IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS AND EXCESSIVE WEAR. TIRES COMPLETELY WORN OUT AT 23,000 MILES. MANUFACTURER IS AWARE IF THIS RESULTING FROM NEW COMPOUNDS (MATERIALS) USED IN MANUFACTURING. HIGH SPEED BLOWOUTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR THIS PARTICULAR TIRE YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS TIRE DESPITE ITS DEFECTS AND SAFETY CONCERNS. I FIRST NOTICE IT ON TWO FRONT TIRES JUST PRIOR VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR ANNUAL SERVICE MAY 2017.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE UPHILL OR ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY OR FREEWAY THERE IS A STRONG EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE COMING FROM THE VENTS. IT WAS DETECTED EARLIER THIS YEAR, HOWEVER WE DID SOME EXTRA DRIVING THROUGH THE SUMMER TO CONFIRM THE ISSUE. ONCE CONFIRMED, WE TOOK IT TO OUR FORD DEALER. THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE, BUT HAD AN IDEA AS HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE. TO FIX IT, THEY HAD TO GET APPROVAL FROM FORD CORPORATE TO DO THE FIX. FORD CORPORATE TOLD THEM THERE WAS NO ISSUE SINCE IT COULD NOT BE RECREATED, AND WE CAN PICK UP THE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF AT OUR DEALERSHIP ON AUGUST 31, 2017. WE WERE NOTIFIED TODAY (SEPT. 7, 2017) THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NO ISSUE; THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT ON THE CIVILIAN EXPLORERS.
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED THE POWER STEERING FAILED GOING INTO A CORNER, AT THE SAME TIME THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH. IT WAS A DANGEROUS CURVE. I DROVE THE CAR THE NEXT DAY AND IT HAPPENED A SECOND AND THIRD TIME. WAITING FOR DEALER RESPONSE IT IS UNSAFE AT THE LEAST OR WORSE....
THE TIRES ON MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER SPORT ARE VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 20 INCH TIRES AND THEY HAVE BEEN PEELING, CHIPPING AND CRACKING FOR THE PAST 8 MONTHS. I ROTATE MY TIRES EVERY 7000 TO 8000 MILES BUT THE TIRES ARE WEARING PREMATURELY. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE BUT THESE SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING ON A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILES. REALLY, THIS SHOULD BE HAPPENING AT ALL. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE TIRES BUT ONLY ON THE 18 AND 19 INCH TIRES NOT THE 20 INCH. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THE 20 AS WELL.
THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPS ACCELERATING. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME. BOTH TIMES, THE GAS PEDAL WILL NOT WORK, GEARS DO NOT WORK. IT WILL NOT DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE FIRST TIME, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, SAID THEY HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH SEVERAL AND WITH REPLACEMENT IT HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOW HAD THE REPLACEMENT AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. IT IS CURRENTLY BACK AT THE DEALER. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN FEB 2016 AND IT CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT COMES WITH NO WARNING. I COULD BE PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC AND THE CAR COULD STOP ACCELERATING! I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR.
WHILE DRIVING @ 50MPH ON A MULTI LANE ROAD, ENGINE IMMEDIATELY WENT TO IDLE AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS INOPERATIVE. LOST ALL POWER AND VEHICLE CAME TO A COASTING STOP. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS AN EXIT NEARBY AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OFF THE MAIN ROAD. TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT NO EFFECT. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. FORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN DURING RUSH HOUR AS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, THIS APPEARS TO BE A SYSTEMATIC PROBLEM WITH FORD. JUST WANTED TO GO ON RECORD THAT I ALSO HAD THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS 11K MILES.
TREAD ON MY HANKOOK TIRES IS PEELING OFF. THEY HAVE 27,000 MILES ON THEM. I ONLY DRIVE TO WORK AND BACK. THEY ARE THE VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2.
THE CAR PRODUCES A ROTTEN EGG SULFUR SMELL IN THE PASSENGER CABIN WHILE ACCELERATING THE ENGINE UNDER MODERATE TO HEAVY LOAD. THE FUMES ARE DANGEROUS AND YOU HAVE TO OPEN ALL THE WINDOWS TO VENT THE SMELL FROM THE PASSENGER CABIN OR I BECOME DIZZY AND LIGHTHEADED FROM THE FUMES. THERE IS DEFINITELY AN EXHAUST LEAK THAT IS COMING INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATES UNDER LOAD.
EXHAUST FUMES WHILE IN MOTION - EGG SMELL LIKE- BURNED HAIR - MOSTLY WHEN ACCELERATING I HAVE NOTICED SINCE W PURCHASED DEALER HAD ME CHANGE ALL OF THE FILLTERS GOING IN FOR A SECOND TRY ON APRIL 25TH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL EXHAUST ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000.
STEERING MAKING NOISES AND HARD TO STEER GOING DOWN THE ROAD
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH I HEARD A NOISE AND CAUGHT A GLIMPSE OF A OBJECT FLYING BY THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW OF MY VEHICLE. UPON STOPPING TO INVESTIGATE THE SUDDEN OCCURRENCE I DISCOVERED THAT THE PIECE OF PLASTIC TRIM ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD PASSENGER SIDE HAD BROKEN OFF. I RETRIEVED IT FROM THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND UPON EXAMINATION IT APPEARS THAT THE MOLDED CLIP HOLDERS BROKE AWAY FROM THEIR ANCHORS. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO VEHICLE BEHIND ME OR TO MY RIGHT. HAD THERE BEEN A VEHICLE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I KNOW THAT THIS INCIDENT STARTLED ME. HAVING RESEARCHED THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT I LEARNED THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2016 FORD EXPLORER. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE BEFORE A TRAGEDY OCCURS.
EXHAUST FUMES IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES AND STILL NO FIX. HAD TO KEEP WINDOWS OPEN TO OPERATE EVEN A SHORT DISTANCE. ONLY 5,200 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE SURVIVED EXPOSURE TO AGENT ORANGE AND TONS OF ASBESTOS IN THE DEFENSE OF OUR COUNTRY BUT I REFUSE TO SUCCUMB TO CARBON MONOXIDE AT THE HANDS OF THE FORD MOTOR CO. MY WIFE AND I LOST OUR INVESTMENT , DOWN PAYMENT, AND TRADE IN VALUE FOR THE EIGHTEEN MONTHS THAT WE OWNED THIS VEHICLE WHICH WE DUBBED THE MOBILE GAS CHAMBER.
EXHAUST FUMES IN CABIN- I AM EXPERIENCING A STRONG SULFURIC SMELL IN THE CABIN AFTER HARD ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AND HAS OCCURRED ON BOTH THE HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREETS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXHAUST FUMES WERE PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (ROBINSON BROTHER FORD, 11455 AIRLINE HWY, BATON ROUGE, LA, 70816) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT NHTSA HAD AN OPEN INVESTIGATION ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY YESTERDAY AND THE CAR COULDN'T BE MOVED WITH THE GAS PEDAL. I COASTED TO THE NEXT EXIT, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND BACK ON AND IT WORKED AGAIN. TODAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED, BUT THIS TIME IT DIDN'T WORK AGAIN. I HAD ADAC (HERE IN GERMANY) COME AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT. THEY RESET THE "SYSTEM" AND FOLLOWED ME TO MY FORD CAR GARAGE SHOP.
THE TIRES HAVE 26000 MILES ON THEM AND THE TIRE IS PEELING OFF LIKE FLAKES. I LIVE IN GAINESVILLE, FL, WHICH HAS VERY GOOD ROADS AND I DRIVE 99% OF THE TIME WITHIN CITY OTHER THAN GOING TO ORLANDO OR JACKSONVILLE ON I75. ALSO THE TIRES HAVE WORN OFF WAY TOO QUICKLY THAN NORMAL AS THEY HAVE REACHED 4MM WEAR WITHIN 26000 MILES!! THE TIRE MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO REPLACE IT AND ONLY OFFERING 4% DISCOUNT ON NEW TIRES. THIS IS GROSS NEGLIGENCE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AND WARRANTY.
THE SEAL AROUND MY WINDSHIELD FLAPS WHEN IT IS WARM OUTSIDE. IT CAUSES A HORRIBLY LOUD NOISE/VIBRATION.
ALONG WITH MANY OTHER EXPLORER OWNERS I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH SMELLS IN MY 2016 EXPLORER. WHEN ACCELERATING I GET THE OCCASIONAL ROTTEN EGG/SULFUR SMELL COMING FROM THE VENTS. I ALSO GET ON OCCASION A SMELL OF BURNT EXHAUST IN THE CAR WHEN IDLING OR PARKED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I ALSO GET A STRONG ANTIFREEZE SMELL AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE (NO VISIBLE LEAKS). THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE CAR FOR AN ENTIRE DAY AND (AS USUAL) COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS. FORD NEEDS TO ADMIT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM THAT IS WIDESPREAD AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIGURED OUT NOW. THIS IS MY FIRST FORD SINCE 1993 AND I'M NOT VERY PLEASED WITH MY PURCHASE.
CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE CAR, CAUSING SLEEPINESS OF SLEEP!
WHILE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY EMISSIONS COME THRU THE A/C AND AT TIMES THE ENTIRE A/C CUTS OUT AND A BIGGER PUFF OF THESE SAME EMISSIONS COMES OUT AGAIN THRU THE A/C VENTS...A FEW WEEKS AGO IT STARTED A TO HESITATE WHEN LEAVING STOP SIGNS OR LIGHTS...TO THE POINT IT JUST STOPS MOVING AND TAKES SECONDS TO CATCH HOLD .WE HAVE HAD IT IN SERVICE 5 TIMES AND THE DEALERSHIP IS SUBMITTING A CLAIM TO THE FORD TECH FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO EVALUATE THE CAR AND GO FROM THERE WAITING FOR THE CALL NOW...I FEEL VERY THREATENED WITH EMISSIONS IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR . WE HAVE TO LOWER AT LEAST 2 WINDOWS TO BE ABLE TO STAND THE SMELL AND WE FIGURE DANGER LEVEL IS HIGH
AUTO HATCH CLOSES WITHOUT WARNING WHEN LOAD THE REAR OF CAR TRAPPING PERSON BETWEEN DOOR AND CAR. DOOR DOES NOT REVERSE TO OPEN.
ALL FRONT PARKING ASSIST RED LIGHTS AND ALARM CAME ON WHILE STOPPED THREE FEET BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATED THE LIGHTS AND ALARM STOPPED. IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED, AGAIN.
ENGINE COOLANT OVERHEATING - ABOUT 30 DAYS AGO, MY CAR BEGAN OVERHEATING AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT I WAS OUT OF ENGINE COOLANT. REFILLED AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW DAYS AND NO 30 DAYS LATER MY CAR IS DOING THE SAME THING. PLACE SERVICE CALL AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT I NEEDED A NEW WATER PUMP. 1 YEAR OLD CAR AND ALREADY HAD TO HAVE THE OIL SENDING UNIT REPLACED AND NOW A NEW WATER PUMP.
WHEN STATIONARY THE AUTO HATCH FEATURE OPENS BY ITSELF WHEN WALKING BY ADJACENT TO THE VEHICLE OR PULLING ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE CAR.
STRONG EXHAUST FUME SMELL IN CABIN AFTER SHORT, RAPID, ACCELERATION OR WHEN THE CAR DRIVES UP AN INCLINE.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2016 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW. WE HAVE HAD REPEATEDLY NOTICED A GAS / EXHAUST ODOR IN THE VEHICLE CABIN. IT'S SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE VENTS AND BECOMES STRONGER WHEN IN IDLE OR ON AN INCLINE. I HAVE TWICE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER AND BOTH TIMES HAD IT DISMISSED AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT SMELL THE ODOR. THE FIRST TIME I LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THEM FOR THE DAY AND THE SECOND TIME I DROVE OVER WHEN THE ODOR WAS CLEARLY PRESENT BUT RESULTS WERE THE SAME. HOWEVER GUESTS IN MY VEHICLE AND OTHER NON- FORD TECHNICIANS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SMELL THE ODOR. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR THIS VEHICLE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
RECENTLY WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WE EXPERIENCED THE SMELL OF EXHAUST INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE WINDOWS WERE CLOSED, AC WAS ON AND RECIRCULATING INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND US WHEN WE SMELLED THE EXHAUST FUMES. ALSO, MY WIFE HAS COMPLAINED OF FEELING NAUSEOUS WHILE RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE NOT TAKEN VEHICLE YET TO THE FORD DEALER BUT BASED ON WHAT WE HAVE READ ABOUT THE EXPLORER, THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE AND FORD IS UNABLE TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE.
HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 255/50R20 105H TIRES. AT 20,000 NOTICED RUBBER PIECES OF TREAD PEELING AWAY AND CHIPPING FROM ALL FOUR CLEARLY DEFECTIVE TIRES. THIS DEFECT APPEARS SIMILAR TO TREAD BEING SLICED BY RAZOR BLADES ALL OVER THE TIRES. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES DEFECTIVE TIRES, BUT REFUSES TO HONOR FORDS WARRANTY TO PRORATE REPLACEMENT AT LESS 60 PERCENT, AND IS ONLY WILLING TO REPLACE WITH SAME BRAND OF TIRE AT 20 PERCENT DISCOUNT OFF $242.00 WHICH IS CLEARLY OVERCHARGING AS I CAN FIND THESE TIRES FOR $97 RETAIL.. THESE TIRES ARE DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IN LIKE MANNER AS HANKOOKS OTHER 47000 TIRES WHICH WERE RECALLED. I HAVE SEEN OTHER REPORTS ON THE SAME TIRES ON FORD EXPLORERS. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED BY THE MALFUNCTION OF THESE TIRES, OR WORSE. FORD SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THESE TIRES.
WHEN COLD STARTING CAR IN GARAGE, PANORAMIC MOON ROOF OPENED BY ITSELF.
ON MONDAY, MARCH 13, 2017, WHILE IN MY SON'S DRIVEWAY (20225 WOODBINE, DETROIT, MI 48219);I STARTED THE IGNITION AND JUST AS THE ENGINE LEVELED OUT, THE REAR LIFT GATE GLASS "EXPLODED." NO FOREIGN OBJECTS WERE FOUND IN OR AROUND THE VEHICLE. BEING PARKED BETWEEN TWO HOMES, I FOUND IT ODD THAT SUCH AN EVENT WOULD OCCUR. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO BILL BROWN FORD FOR REPAIR, AND ADVISE THEM OF THE SITUATION. ONCE I WAS HOME, I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AND SPOKE WITH A PERSON NAMED "MAGGIE," WHO GAVE ME A REFERENCE NUMBER (CAS11880598) AND SAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD DO AN INVESTIGATION AS TO WHAT OCCURRED. ON MARCH 15, 2017, I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER, PRIOR TO LEAVING I ADVISED MARY OF THE BODY SHOP THAT FORD ISSUED ME THE ABOVE REFERENCE NUMBER, AND THAT THEY (DEALERSHIP) WOULD DO AN INVESTIGATION AS TO WHAT HAPPEN. ON MONDAY, MARCH 20, 2017, BILL BROWN FORD STATED THAT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE MY EXPENDITURE AND CONSIDERED THE MATTER CLOSED. I HAVE READ THAT THIS HAS HAPPEN BEFORE ON THE 2016 MODELS. I WOULD HATE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN ON ANY OTHER WINDOW ON MY VEHICLE WHILE IN OPERATION ON ANY PUBLIC ROADWAY. I WAS FORTUNATE IT HAPPEN IN A DRIVEWAY. PLEASE VIEW THIS MATTER AS A "SAFETY CONCERN."
NOTICED A MONTH AFTER PURCHASE OF NEW CAR, CABIN FILLED UP WITH GAS SMELL ENTERING FREEWAY. SPOKE TO CAR SALESMAN.(HAD JUST FILLED CAR WITH GAS & W/CAPLESS SYSTEM I CONNECTED THE DOTS, THOUGHT THAT'S WHY IT HAPPENED & SPOKE TO SALESMAN. THEN NEXT TIME I HAD TO REV THE ENGINE TO ACCELERATE/PASS, IT HAPPENED WITH 1/4 TANK GAS. SENT A PS TO SALESMAN 11/29/16 THRU EMAIL. HE SAID IT TAKES THE CAR 3K-5K MI. TO BREAK IN. I JUST TRIED NOT TO GET ON FREEWAY, ONLY DROVE IT AROUND TOWN. WE USED MY HUBBY'S TRUCK FOR FREEWAY. THIS WEEKEND, WENT TO NEPHEW'S BB GAME ON 2 LANE 42 MILE RD. HAD TO PASS SLOW CAR IN FRONT OF ME--CAR HAD SUCH A GAS SMELL, I GOT A SORE THROAT FROM IT AND HAD TO ROLL DOWN WINDOWS TO BREATHE. I WAS SHOCKED IT HAPPENED AGAIN. LOOKED UP ON INTERNET WHAT I COULD FIND AND WAS HORRIFIED AT THE PGS. AND PGS. OF COMMENTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AS WELL FOR 2011-2015'S. I HAVE A NEW 2016 WITH 4200 MI. MY HEART ACHES FOR ALL THESE HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES WITH SM. KIDS WHILE CO AND CARCINOGENIC GASES ARE COMING THRU THE VENTS AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I SAVED FOR A LONG TIME TO BUY THIS VEHICLE. MY EX AND I HAVE BOUGHT 10 FORD'S. I'M DEVASTATED THAT THIS EXPENSIVE CAR (FOR ME) IS SLOWLY KILLING ME. LOOK AT THE CLASSACTION.ORG, TONS OF COMMENTS. I DOWNLOADED APPROX. 50 PAGES OF OWNERS' COMMENTS WITH THE SAME PROB. THE VAST MAJORITY HAD NO RESOLUTION. I'M SO SAD. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THESE PROBLEMS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL. SOMEONE IS DROPPING THE BALL. I GUY STARTED TO PASS OUT WHILE HE WAS DRIVING BUT MANAGED TO PULL OVER. SERVICE MGR. CALLED-- SCHEDULING MY CAR TOMORROW-6 PGS. OF TSB TO GO THRU. WE'LL SEE.
SMELL COMING FROM DASH VENTS ALL THE TIME. NOT SURE IF IT IS EXHAUST BUT EYES START BURNING AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING. HIGHER RPM'S SEEM TO MAKE IT WORSE. WAS JUST INTO FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN DONE BUT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT TO TRY NEXT.
THE TAILPIPE OCCASIONALLY EMITS BLUE-GRAY SMOKE, AS IF IT IS BURNING OIL. I HAVE WITNESSED THIS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OCCASIONALLY SMELLS LIKE SMOKE. THE PASSENGERS IN THE REAR OF THE CAR TEND TO NOTICE IT FIRST, AND THEN THE PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT CAN SMELL IT. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN ACCELERATING AT A HIGH RATE, SUCH AS WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY FROM AN ON-RAMP.
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR THAT I HAVE PLACED IN THE THIRD ROW SOUNDED. I INSTALLED THE DETECTOR AFTER LEARNING THAT FORD WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE EXPLORER. I OPENED MY WINDOWS, PARKED, AND CHECKED THE DETECTOR WHICH WAS WORKING. I RETURNED HOME AND CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR NEXT TUESDAY MORNING.
CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKING INTO THE CAR CABIN: THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 75MPH ON A HIGHWAY, CLIMATE IN THE CAR 71 DEGREES, AND RECIRCULATING AIR WAS ON. CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES BEFORE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR STARTED SENSING CARBON MONOXIDE. DIGITAL CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR ALARM SOUNDED WHEN IT HIT 35PPM, THEN THE LEVELS CLIMBED ALL THE WAY TO 49 PPM. NO SMELL WAS PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE TEST. NO CARS SURROUNDING THE VEHICLE. AT THIS TIME, WHEN LEVELS HIT 49PPM THE WINDOWS WERE ROLLED DOWN FOR FRESH AIR TO GAIN SAFETY FOR THE DRIVER. WE WERE ABLE TO DOCUMENT VIDEO AND IMAGES OF THIS EVENT. FORD FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER STATES TO HIS KNOWLEDGE THE 2016 EXPLORER HAS BEEN REDESIGNED AND THE CONCERN HAD ONLY BEEN DOCUMENTED ON THE EARLIER MODELS.
WHEN I FIRST PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE I COULD SMELL SOMETHING FUNNY WHEN DRIVING IT KIND OF LIKE AN OLD FILTER THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT OR MILD GAS LIKE SMELL. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE CAR I PURCHASED HASN'T BEEN USED FOR TOO LONG AND IT'S NORMAL TO EXPERIENCE THAT THE FIRST FEW WEEKS/MONTHS... SO I WENT THROUGH N AND PURCHASED A CAR AIRFRESHNER TO CAMOUFLAGE THE SMELL COMING OUT THE EXHAUST HEAT/AC FAN. IT WORKED A LITTLE BUT I WAS RUNNING OUT OF IT QUICKLY AND IF I DIDN'T CHANGED IT RIGHT AWAY THEN THE SMELL WILL COME BACK...I WILL AS T DRIVING IT MUCH WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT CAUSE I WAS STAY AT HOME MOM. I STARTED FEELING SICK WHEN I GOT A FULL TIME JOB BACK IN NOVEMBER AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR FOR WORK (60MILES+ /DAY). I TOLD MY HUSBAND I WAS FEELING LIGHTHEADED, DIZZY AND LONG LASTING HEADACHES, HE SAID IT LIGHT BE FROM THE. NEW JOB AND I NEEDED TO AJUST BUT WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE ISSUE GOING ON WITH FORD SUV'S I REALIZED THAT IT'S DEFINITELY MY CAR WHO'S MAKING ME SICK! IT ALSO EXPLAINS THE SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE,...WHEN I TOLD MY HUSBAND HE HAD A GOOD LAUGH AT ME EVEN THOUGH I PULLED THE NEWS REPORT FOR HIM, SO WE SWITCHED CARS FOR FEW WEEKS AND HE STARTED EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS WHILE DRIVING MY FORD. WE TALKED TO OUR FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT THEY DENIED ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR
CARBON MONOXIDE: I HAVE BEEN SMELLING AN EXHAUST LIKE SMELL IN MY CAR SINCE I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. FOR AWHILE, I ASSUMED IT WAS NEW CAR CHEMICALS BURNING OFF FROM THE ENGINE ETC. HOWEVER, OVER TIME I STILL WAS PRESENTED WITH THIS ODOR. MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR TO SEE IF ANY DANGEROUS FUMES WERE PRESENTING INSIDE THE CAR. UPON MY QUICK 6-7 MINUTE DRIVE TO CHURCH THE CARBON MONOXIDE LEVELS READ 6PPM. WHEN DRIVEN LATER BY MY HUSBAND FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AT A SLIGHTLY FASTER SPEED, IT CLIMBED TO 12PPM! WE HAD THE AIR CONDITIONER ON AND THE RECIRCULATING AIR ON. WHEN WE HELD THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR UP TO THE AIR CONDITIONER, THE NUMBERS CLIMBED FASTER. I HAVE A PHOTO OF THE 6PPM, BUT MY HUSBAND DIDN'T HAVE HIS PHONE AND COULDN'T TAKE A PICTURE OF THE 12PPM AT THE TIME. HE WILL TRY TO GET A ONE SOON. THIS CAR IS THE PRIMARY VEHICLE FOR MY THREE AND ONE YEAR OLD CHILDREN. WE WILL NO LONGER BE USING THIS VEHICLE RISKING THEIR SAFETY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER LIFTGATE INDEPENDENTLY CLOSED AND A WARNING CHIME COULD BE HEARD BEFORE THE LIFT GATE CLOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIFTGATE MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN FORD CASE NUMBER: CAS12185619. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,500.
EXHAUST SMELL WHEN RUNNING THE REAR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED, 60+ MPH WITH RPM 3K+. EXHAUST SMELL IS ISOLATED TO THE REAR AC SYSTEM WHEN RECYCLED AIR IS TURNED ON. THE LAST TEST WE DID WAS ON A HIGHWAY, GOING UPHILL.
I ALREADY SUBMITTED ONE COMPLAINT TODAY ABOUT THE CABIN FILLING WITH EXHAUST FUMES WHILE ACCELERATING BUT THEN I WAS READING OTHER ISSUES PEOPLE WERE HAVING AND WANTED TO ENSURE YOU WERE AWARE OF MINE AS WELL. I HAD TO HAVE THE COOLING FANS REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WOULD COME TO A SCREECHING HALT WHEN YOU WOULD SHUT THE MOTOR OFF. I HAD TO HAVE THE INSIDE OF THE POWER LIFT GATE REPAINTED WHERE THE MOTOR AND SHOCK ARE LOCATED BECAUSE THE PAINT WAS CRACKING. THE CENTER CAPS ON THE WHEELS ARE FALLING IN SO THOSE ARE GOING TO BE REPLACED. IT IS NOW RUSTING ON THE BACK OF MY CAR BY THE REAR TAIL LIGHT. THE HOOD VIBRATES REALLY BAD WHEN GOING OVER 65 MPH. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT IN FOR THAT YET BECAUSE I CAN'T GET IT TO DO IT ALL OF THE TIME. IT HAS TO BE WINDY FOR IT TO HAPPEN TO ME. THE FRONT DOOR BLACK TRIM PIECES ON THE OUTSIDE STARTED TO BUBBLE SO THOSE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE ONLY SAFETY CONCERN IS THE HOOD VIBRATING. THE REST ARE JUST FYI'S AS THEY SEEM TO BE COMMON PROBLEMS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN NOVEMBER 2015 AND IT HAS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE THE 1ST MONTH.
WHEN ACCELERATING, MY CABIN FILLS UP WITH EXHAUST FUMES. IT DOESN'T DO IT AS BAD WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE BUT WHEN IT IS HOT, IT IS REALLY BAD. IT HAS BEEN TO FORD SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY PERFORMED THE TECHNICAL BULLETINS ON THE CAR. IT DIDN'T HELP.
I RECENTLY HAD A 2015 FORD EXPLORER AND EXPERIENCED THE ODOR EMITTING INTO THE CABIN ON ACCELERATION. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE, WITH FORD, I WAS FORCED TO LET THE VEHICLE GO BACK TO THE BANK OUT OF FEAR THE ISSUE WAS MAKING ME SICK. AFTER LOOKING FOR A NEW VEHICLE, I REALIZED THAT THE FORD EXPLORER WAS THE BEST VEHICLE FOR MY NEEDS. I PURCHASED A 2016 EXPLORER SINCE IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE FOUND THAT 2016 FORD EXPLORERS SHOULD BE INCLUDED. I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE HORRIBLE SMELL OF EXHAUST COMING INTO THE CABIN EVEN ON SMALL ACCELERATION. I FEEL THERE IS NO POINT IN TAKING IT INTO A FORD DEALER SINCE I'VE ALREADY BEEN DOWN THAT ROAD AND CAME TO NO REMEDY FOR THE PROBLEM. I DID WANT TO GET MY 2016 VEHICLE ON THIS LIST SO OTHERS WOULD BE AWARE THAT THE PROBLEM EXISTS IN 2016 EXPLORERS AS WELL.
