WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND ALL WINDOWS ARE CLOSE, IT HAS A CARBON DIOXIDE SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND I HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO LET THE AIR OUT.
THE SRS WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH IS ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE FAULT CODES INDICATE THAT TWO WIRE HARNESSES OR CONNECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. COST OF SERVICE WAS QUOTED AS $1600. HOWEVER, MILEAGE (46,500) AND AGE (4 YEARS) WOULD INDICATE THAT REPAIR SHOULD BE MADE UNDER 5 YR / 60,000 MI WARRANTY. FORD HAS DENIED WARRANTY. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER CARE HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY PHONE AND EMAIL MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT RESOLUTION. THEY POINT TO THE WIRE HARNESS AS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE SRS SYSTEM NOT WORKING AND CLAIM THAT THE WIRE HARNESS IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY.
THE EPS UNIT SUDDENLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND ALMOST CAUSED US TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. FROM DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE FORD CREATED THE EPAS SYSTEM. WE WERE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT THE TIME IT FAILED. RESTARTING THE CAR DID NOT TEMPORARILY FIX OUR ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED BY MULTIPLE PEOPLE FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS NOW WITHOUT RESULT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
2017 FORD EXPLORER XLT ROOF RAILS DETACH. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY RIGHT ROOF RAIL TOP PIECE BLEW OFF. MULTIPLE CARS HAD TO SWERVE IN ORDER TO AVOID THE FLYING PIECE. MY LEFT ROOF RAIL ALMOST DID THE SAME THING. THIS, IN MY OPINION, IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. MULTIPLE PEOPLE WHO I'VE TALKED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. HOWEVER THESE ROOF RAILS ARE ASSEMBLED IS UNACCEPTABLE. I BELIEVE IT HAS TO DO WITH THEIR GREY PLASTIC SECURING CLIPS. THANK YOU.
WHEN BACKING UP AND THE WHEEL IS TURNED THERE'S A HESITATION THEN WHAT FEELS LIKE I HIT SOMETHING. (A CLUNK W/O THE NOISE ) THEN WHEN BREAK PEDDLE IS PRESSED THE CAR SHIMMIES BAD . I ALSO SMELL ANTIFREEZE COMING FROM THE HEATER VENTS .BROUGHT IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO FIX IT SINCE IT WAS JUST PURCHASED THERE .. THEY HAD IT FOR 5 DAYS .. NOTHING GOT FIXED. THEY TURNED FRONT ROTORS AND TOPPED OFF FLUIDS. I DO BELIEVE THAT I HAVE A BAD REAR TOW BEARING OR A U-JOINT. BREAKS NOT SURE BUT THE CAR IS WORSE THAN BEFORE. STILL SMELL ANTIFREEZE AND THERE'S A DARK FILM ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH INDICATES A BAD HEATER CORE. I'VE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP BIT THEY WON'T RETURN MY CALLS OR EMAILS OR TEXTS. I BELIEVE I WAS SOLD A LEMON. THERE'S AN OXIDATION ON THE ENGINE AND A BLACK STAIN ON BOTTOM OF ENGINE. ALSO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THIS IS A 2017 AND SHOULDN'T HAVE THIS MANY ISSUES .
MY CAR IS 69000 AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 66000 MILE THEY TOOK TWO WEEKS TO FIND OUT THAT TRANSMISSION CONVERTER TO BE REPLACED. NOW AT 69000 THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THE CAR IS ONLY 69000 WHY THE TRANSMISSION IS BROKEN AT 69000 WHEN I ACCELERATE THE CAR JUMPS A LITTLE BIT AND CONTINUE GOING
WHEN BACKING UP THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE THEN IT FEELS LIKE I HIT SOMETHING. THEN THERE'S A CLUNK .. (REAR TOW BEARING/U-JOINT) #2 HAVE TO ALWAYS HAVE DEFROST ON OR WINDOWS FOG UP.. THEN THERE'S A SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. BREAKS GRIND WHEN STOPPING. REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP.. BREAK FLUID LOW, ALONG WITH A BUNCH OF OTHER ISSUES TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. ALWAYS HAVE TO RESET AVERAGE GAS MILEAGE TO GET A READING. I BELIEVE I WAS SOLD A LEMON AS THE FINANCE GUY TOOK MY DOWN PAYMENT AND PURCHASED A EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH I NEVER AGREED TO.
TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS HAVE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR TRANSMISSION ISSUE WHICH WAS FIRST REPORTED LAST OCTOBER 2019 WITH ONLY 11,000 MILES. SINCE THEN, 6 REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE BY FORD IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX ONGOING TRANSMISSION ISSUE BUT HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED. FORD HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF MULTIPLE UNSAFE EVENTS CAUSED BY THIS ISSUE WHERE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ON HIGHWAY WITH THREE SMALL CHILDREN RIDING IN CAR AS PASSENGERS. FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE OR REFUND FOR UNSAFE, DEFECTIVE VEHICLE DESPITE CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINTS AND REQUESTS.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER IN JULY OF 2017. IT IS JUST PASSED 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS JUST OVER 60,000 MILES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LICARDI FORD IN WATCHUNG, NJ TO HAVE THEM LOOK AND ADVISE ON PAINT THAT IS BUBBLING ON THE FRONT HOOD. AFTER REVIEW THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SINCE THE 3 YEAR, 36K MILE HAS PASSED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE 5 YEAR/UNLIMITED MILEAGE CORROSION (PERFORATION ONLY) WOULD NOT APPLY EITHER. I WAS TOLD THE CORROSION WARRANTY WOULD ONLY APPLY IF THE CORROSION WOULD CREATE A HOLE. AFTERWARDS I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE (CASE # [XXX]) AND WOULD BE TOLD THE SAME AS I MENTIONED ABOVE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION ON MY PART, I FOUND THERE HAVE BEEN CLASS ACTION SUITS FILED AGAINST FORD FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. THOSE COMPLAINTS SHOW THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF SUCH ISSUE AND HAS DONE LITTLE TO CORRECT. FURTHERMORE, IT IS WRITTEN THAT THE HOODS OF THE FORD EXPLORERS ARE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND WOULD NEVER RUST THROUGH TO CREATE A HOLE THEREFORE MAKING THE 5 YEAR/UNLIMITED MILEAGE CORROSION WARRANTY NEXT TO USELESS. I FEEL THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT FORD IS WELL AWARE OF AND SHOULD HAVE CHANGED ITS PRACTICES AND METHODS TO AVOID FUTURE INCIDENTS. THE 'BUBBLING' PAINT MAY BE SMALL NOW BUT WILL ONLY GROW AND EVENTUALLY CRACK AND PEEL OFF NEGATIVELY IMPACTING THE LOOK AND RESALE VALUE OF MY VEHICLE. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN OFFER TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED AND/OR HOLD FORD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE. WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT STREET 25-35 MPH JULY 30, 2020, ON A SUNNY DAY,MY CAR RIGHT PASSENGER TIRE CAME OFF. ON A CITY STREET. CAUSING MY CAR TO HIT THE CURB. THERE WAS NO BODY DAMAGE EXCEPT FOR THE PASSENGER FRONT AND REAR TIRE.
MY FAMILY & I HAVE FELT DIZZY. LIGHT HEADED. HEADACHES, NAUSEA & NUMBNESS OF ARMS. WE SMELLED TOXIC FUMES & HAD A CHEMICAL TASTE IN OUR MOUTHS. ALL SYSTEMS POINT TO CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. WE CANT EVEN DRIVE OUR VEHICLE ANYMORE & STILL OWE $30,000.00 ON IT. IT'S VERY UNSAFE WE ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD DUE TO FADING OUT FROM OUR DANGEROUS SYMPTOMS!
THE TOP RAIL OF THE ROOF RACK OF THIS CAR ISN'T ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE VERY WELL AT ALL. I JUST LOST ONE WHILE GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY. AFTER TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP - IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD IS VERY MUCH AWARE OF. THE ROOF RACK IS IN TWO PIECES AND THE TOP PIECE IS FLIMSY AND JUST SNAPS IN. WHEN AIR GOT UNDER IT GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY - I HEARD IT POP AND REALIZED IT WAS OFF THE VEHICLE. IT'S LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T HIT ANY OTHER CARS (OR A MOTORCYCLE!).
ABOUT A WEEK AGO MY VEHICLE WAS IDLING, BACKED STRAIGHT INTO THE TURNAROUND IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE CAR IN PARK. THE TWO PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WERE OPEN. MY DAUGHTERS AND I (UNBUCKLED) SAT THERE ABOUT TEN MINUTES WHILE THE ENGINE WAS CRANKED BUT IN PARK, WAITING ON MY HUSBAND TO FINISH UP GRABBING THINGS FOR THE VACATION WE WERE GETTING READY TO LEAVE ON. MY TWO YEAR OLD HAD MOVED TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT, AND I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MY DAUGHTER REACHED OVER AND PRESSED THE PUSH TO START BUTTON AS SHE HAS A HUNDRED TIMES AND KILLED THE ENGINE, BUT THIS TIME, WHEN THE ENGINE TURNED OFF, SOMETHING OBVIOUSLY CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO DISENGAGE AND WE WERE SENT ROLLING DOWN THE HILL BEHIND MY TURN AROUND. I TRIED TO CLIMB OVER AND HIT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. WE WERE FINALLY STOPPED WHEN OUR BACK END SMASHED INTO THE SECOND TREE WE HIT. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED BESIDES ME, AND IT WAS RELATIVELY MINOR WITH JUST BRUISING, PARTICULARLY SINCE I'M 7 MONTHS PREGNANT. MY CAR IS NOW COMPLETELY TOTALED AS A RESULT.
Windshield trim panel flew off my car while traveling at highway speeds. I was traveling on the highway when suddenly the trim and seal under the trim flew off my car and got caught on my side mirror. I was in the middle of a trip nowhere near a ford dealer and had to tape up my car so that it was protected from the elements. I had to pay hundreds of dollars to fix this problem on my own.
2017 FORD EXPLORER BASE MODEL WE HAD OUR VEHICLE "FIXED" FOR THE CARBON MONOXIDE DEFECT ON JUNE 24, 2020. IT IS NOW 7/9/2020 AND OUR CO ALARM IN THE VEHICLE IS STILL PICKING UP AT LEAST 11PPM OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE AFTER TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THESE OCCURRENCES ARE SPORADIC, NOT CONSISTENT WITH EACH USE OF THE VEHICLE.
FORD CONTINUES TO MAKE UNSUCCESSFUL REPAIRS ON CONTINUOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUE DESPITE 6 FAILED ATTEMPTS SINCE FIRST REPORTED OCTOBER 2019 AT ONLY 11,000 MILES. CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE INTO HIGHER GEAR WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED. FORD CONTINUES TO NEGLECT MANY WRITTEN NOTIFICATIONS OF DANGEROUS EVENTS CAUSED BY TRANSMISSION FAILURE AS WELL AS BLATANTLY REFUSES TO DIAGNOSE REPORTED ERRORS PRESENT ON CAR AND CONTINUES TO KNOWINGLY AND NEGLIGENTLY PUT ITS CONSUMER AND THEIR PASSENGERS IN DANGER BY REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE ONGOING ISSUE THAT HAS NOW HAD 6 UNSUCCESSFUL REPAIRS MADE TO ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. CONSUMER HAS DESPERATELY REQUESTED A FULL REPLACEMENT/REFUND FOR DEFECTIVE VEHICLE FOR HER SAFETY AND HER FAMILY'S BUT FORD HAS REPEATEDLY DENIED 3 BUY BACK REQUESTS NOW CITING THAT ONLY 2 REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE WHEN CLEARLY THIS IS NOT THE CASE.
COSMETIC PLASTIC PANELING HAS TWICE COME OFF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE. THE FIRST TIME IF WAS THE SILVER PLASTIC MOLDING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROOF RACK RAILS. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS A BLACK PIECE OF MOLDING JUST AFT OF THE PASSENGER WINDOW. FOR THE FIRST INSTANCE, A SMALL PIECE OF PLASTIC BROKE DUE TO WIND PRESSURE. THE SECOND INSTANCE REVEALED THAT THE PART WAS JUST GLUED ON IN TWO SPOTS. I HAVE STARTED NOTICING OTHER EXPLORERS IN GEORGIA/FLORIDA MISSING PIECES OF PLASTIC MOLDING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS IF THE PLASTIC COMES OFF AT A HIGH SPEED AND HITS A CAR BEHIND ME.
SLOWING DOWN HARD SHIFT @ 40 AND @20. STEERING FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO PULL WHEN DRIVING ON A CURVE OR WHEN TURNING.
FIRST COMPLAINT IS THE PAINT IS PEELING AND BUBBLES FROM THE FRONT OF HOOD. THIS WAS FIXED BY FORD 1 YEAR AGO AND TOLD WAS NOT SURE WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING. NOW AGAIN ALL ALONG HOOD AT FRONT SAME PROBLEMS. *TR SECOND COMPLAINT. THE REAR TIRES ARE WEARING AT THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE OF TREAD. THE DRIVERS SIDE SEEMS TO BE WORSE. IT NEEDS TIRES NOW DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS THAT I KNOW HAVE. THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO BE UNSTEADY AT GRADE CHANGES IN ROADWAY ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY.
THE CAR HAS DRAINED BATTERY EXCESSIVELY FAST. THE AMOUNT OF CORROSION ON A 2017 FACTORY BATTERY IS NOT NORMAL. THE COMPONENT BOARD IS MALFUNCTIONING AND WON'T ALLOW THE BATTERY TO ACCEPT CHARGE. ALL INTERNAL ELECTRICAL FEATURES WON'T TURN OF OR STOP BEEPING. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NOT UNDER WARRENTY. VERY OBVIOUS COMPONENT ISSUE LOOKS LIKE THE [XXX] CAR HAS A VIRUS. STRONG SULPHUR SMELL ENTERS CABIN WHEN ACCELERATING. NOT A ONE-TIME EVENT. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I HAD ONE OF MY PLASTIC WINDSHIELD PILLARS FLY OFF. I PULLED OVER AND RETRIEVED IT AND GLUED IT BACK ON. ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER I HAD MY OTHER SIDE FLY OFF, UNABLE TO RETRIEVE IT AND ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO I HAD MY FIRST SIDE FLY OFF AGAIN ALSO UNABLE TO RETRIEVE IT. I HAD ONE OF THE PILLARS HIT A PASSING VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING IDLE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, WHEN THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO SWITCH GEARS, THE VEHICLE WOULD REV UP IN SPEED, SLIGHTLY STALL, AND THEN JOLT FORWARD. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER - ANDY MOHR FORD (2713 E MAIN ST, PLAINFIELD, IN 46168; (317) 836-2299) AND REPAIRED UNDER AN UNKNOWN SEAT AND LIFTGATE RECALL HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIR THE FAILURE INCREASED IN OCCURRENCE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A POWER TRAIN RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

ON MAY 20TH 2020, I DROVE THE CAR FROM MY HOUSE TO THE GROCERY STORE, AN APPROXIMATE 7 MILES DRIVE. I PARKED THE CAR ON THE PARKING LOT, A FEW SECONDS AFTER LEAVING THE CAR WHITE SMOKE STARTED TO COME FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AS THE SECONDS PASSED THE WHITE SMOKE CONVERTED INTO A FIRE IN THE ENGINE, 5 MINUTES LATER THE CAR WAS LOST DUE TO FIRE. *TR
ADHESIVE TO THE FRONT DOOR UPPER PANEL (SECURICODE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD) DID NOT ADHERE PROPERLY AND THE KEYLESS ENTRY PAD AND MOLDING BROKE ON THE HIGHWAY AND FLEW OFF. THIS CAUSED A MALFUNCTION SIGNAL TO THE LIFTGATE (SENSOR REGISTERED AS LIFT GATE AJAR, WHEN EFFECTIVELY CLOSED) INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T TURN OFF AND LIFTGATE WON'T OPEN. *TR
WHEN GOING LOW SPEEDS UNDER 50 THE CAR WILL JERK TO THE RIGHT AND IT'S LIKE SOMEONE ELSE HAS CONTROL OF THE WHEEL THEN YOU HAVE TO JERK IT BACK ON THE ROAD. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND ONCE WHEN MY HUSBAND DROVE. WE THOUGHT WE WERE GOING STRAIGHT IN A DITCH. HELP THIS IS NOT SAFE. *TR

WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE IN GEAR IT DOESN'T ENGAGE! IT FEELS LIKE IT IS ALWAYS IN NEUTRAL AND IT HAS A HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES TO ME. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND NOW THEY CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE UNTIL THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED
WIFE AND I PURCHASED AN 2017 XLT SPORT WITH 11,000 MILES AND WITHIN MONTHS WE KEPT HEARING POPPING NOISES AS SHE TURNS. ITS THE STRUTS AND THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE WITHIN WITH 20K MILES. JUST HAD THEM REPLACED AGAIN AT OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO HELPED US TREMENDOUSLY AND DIDN'T CHARGE US THAT MUCH SINCE IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY 39,000 MILES REPLACING THEM AND ITS POPPING AGAIN. I HAVE RESEARCHED THAT THE STRUTS ON THESE MODELS ARE BAD. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO.
WHEN I'M DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION KICKS BACK AND HESITATES THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I'VE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, ALMOST LIKE ITS STALLING .
While driving my Ford Explorer, the rubber seal trim piece on the driver began to come loose and flap around smacking onto the windshield and side front windows. Luckily, there were no other cars next to me when I swerved slightly after being started by the pieces slamming against the car. Since then, the both the driver and passenger side trim pieces have come completely off. I have not taken the vehicle into Ford to get the pieces replaced because I researched the parts required and it is an expensive fix given the way Ford originally installed the trim molding pieces. This should most certainly be a recall as it could result in serious accidents.
AS I WAS DRIVING THE EXPLORER THE CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT SENSORS WENT HAYWARE, THEN THE NAVIGATOR, RADIO, HVAC, AND EVERYTHING ELSE FROZE DID COMMANDS ON ITS OWN. THE PART ASSIST MODE CAME ON IT OWN, STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS WOULD NOT WORK AND CAR STARTED TO TAKE CONTROL. VERY SCARY AS THE CAR WAS TAKING COMMANDS I COULD NOT CONTROL. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM). MY VEHICLE IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD NOT HELP. VERY DANGEROUS, COST ME $1,200. FORD HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM ON EARLIER MODELS AND RECALLED, BUT NOT ON MINE. THIS FAILURE NEED TO BE ADDRESSED AND IF NOT FIXED COULD LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL. FORD WAS NO HELP TO ME, VERY DISAPPOINT IN FORD AND THEIR NEGLECT TO MINE AND MY FAMILIES STAFEY.
THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD IS PITTING UNDER THE PAINT WHICH IS AN IN GOING FORD ISSUE FOR DECADES NOW. UPON SPEAKING WITH FORD, THEY TELL ME THEY CAN'T HELP ME BECAUSE I DON'T GET MY VEHICLE SERVICE WITH FORD. SO THEY ARE REFUSING TO MAKE GOOD ON A PREEXISTING PROBLEM WHEN I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. THESE VEHICLES ARE PREDESTINED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO CORRECT THE ALUMINUM HOOD AND PAINT CONFLICT THE VEHICLES HAVE. OUR 2017 FORD EXPLORER HAS BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS WHERE EVERY TIME IT REACHES A SPEED OF 30 MPH YOU FEEL THE GEAR KICKING IN HARD. THE VEHICLE JERKS AFTER IT SOUNDS LIKE IT STRUGGLES TO GET INTO THAT NEXT GEAR. AS TIME PASSES IT IS MORE NOTICEABLE AND STRONGER IT DOES NOT MATTER THE SPEED OR ROAD.
ROOF RAILS ON BOTH SIDES HAVE COME LOOSE, EJECTING FROM VEHICLE ON ROADWAY. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. AFTER REPAIR, THE ROOF RAIL CAP WILL STAY ON FOR AROUND 1 TO 2 MONTHS THEN BECOME LOOSE AGAIN. BOTH THE ROOF RAIL ASSEMBLY AS A WHOLE AND THE ROOF RAIL CAP HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN AND COULD INJURE OR CAUSE DEATH TO PEDESTRIANS AND OTHER VEHICLE OPERATORS AROUND.
A FEW MONTHS AGO (LESS THAN 30,000 MILES) TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO "THUMP" WHEN SHIFTING IN LOW GEAR AFTER STOP AT LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. LATELY, TRANSMISSION MAKES A LOUD "THUD" AND VERY NOTICEABLE JERK WHEN SHIFTING IN LOW GEAR AFTER STOP.

WE BOUGTH THE CAR ON AUGUST 2019 WITH 4700 MILES. IN NOVEMBER 2019 THE CAR STARTED OCCASIONALLY (3 TIMES DURING 3 MONTH PERIOD) TO SOUND THE REVERSE ALARM SENSOR WHILE DRIVING. THEN CAR DIDN'T START, SO WE CHANGED THE BATTERY. IN MID MARCH, AFTER TAKING MY 3 KIDS (OUR DAUGHTER 6 AND THE TWINS WERE 2) TO THE PARK, THE CAR WILL START BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT TURNING. IT WAS JUST STOCK AND HARD TO MOVE. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL THAT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. WE COULDN'T TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC (WE DIDN'T WANTED TO EXPOSED OURSELVES TO ANY OTHER PEOPLE). FINALLY IN SEPTEMBER, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY CALLED THE FOLLOWING DAY AND EXPLAINED THAT TO REPAIR WILL COST US $ 1790. PLUS OTHER REGULAR ITEMS THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE FOR A TOTAL OF $2098. WHILE I DO UNDERSTAND THAT MANUFACTURING ERRORS DO HAPPEN, STILL I CAN'T COMPREHEND THE FACT THAT THE CAR IS 50519 MILES AND ALREADY NEEDS THESE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS THAT COULD HAVE CAUSE A VERY DANGEROUS ACCIDENT TO MY FAMILY. THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR! I DRIVE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND TO THE PARK EVERY DAY. HOW COME SOMETHING THIS SERIOUS IS NOT PUT ON A TEST BEFORE PUTTING A CAR INTO THE MARKET (?). Airbag light illuminated on dash board. No airbags in vehicle working. Have taken vehicle to the dealership 7-9 times to be serviced, always told it is a sensor that is loose or a seatbelt. This was not reported on the Carfax when I got the vehicle and started shortly after. I was once told none of the airbags in the bag of the vehicle were functioning but taping the senor (under the seat) with electrical tape fixed it. So many recalls on this vehicle, too dangerous to drive with no working airbags. Also the recall on the roof racks cause my vehicle to leak when it rained, ford service told me this was not possible. never looked at the problem and after the recall was fixed (after I asked twice) the vehicle stopped leaking, now the sunroof does not work. I have contacted Ford Cooperate about these issues also and they refused to help.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE SAME DEALER HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS STILL PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,001.
MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER HAS 19,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED WELL. IT WAS OUTFITTED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLES 255/50R20 TIRES WHEN WE PURCHASED IT NEW IN DEC 2017. THE TREAD HAS WORN DOWN TO 4/32NDS AND IS DISINTEGRATING-YOU CAN PEEL LITTLE BITS OF RUBBER OFF OF THEM. THEY ARE ALL WEARING EVENLY SO IT IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH LACK OF ROTATION/ALIGNMENT THERE ARE MOVIES ON YOUTUBE AND OTHER REVIEWS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. HANKOOK IS ALSO AWARE THIS IS AN ISSUE AND IS DOING A VOLUNTARY PROGRAM WHERE THEY WILL GIVE YOU A PRORATED DEAL ON NEW HANKOOK TIRES. THESE TIRES NEED TO BE FULLY RECALLED AND HANKOOK NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO GIVE PEOPLE A PRORATED REFUND TO PURCHASE OTHER BRANDS OF TIRES NOT NEW VERSIONS OF THEIR PIECE OF CRAP PRODUCT. WE ARE NEEDING TO SPEND $1000 ON NEW TIRES FOR THIS OTHERWISE WONDERFUL VEHICLE.

RE: 2017 FORD EXPLORER. CAR DYING OUT ON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP. A SCARY THING HAPPENED ON RT #619 TODAY IN HARTVILLE. THAT IS, THE CAR DIED OUT HALFWAY OUT ONTO THE ROADWAY, IT PAUSES FOR SOME SECONDS WHERE THE ACCELERATOR DOES NOTHING. THEN IT PICKS UP BY ITSELF. THE THROTTLE DOES NOTHING. NONE OF THESE ACTIONS ARE DESIRABLE. THESE BEHAVIORS PUT US IN GREAT DANGER. SO LET'S SEE, THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE MORNING I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (MONDAY 01-06-2020). AND, IT HAPPENED ONCE THE 2ND DAY BACK TO ME ON FRIDAY 01-31-2019. BUT IT DID NOT HAPPEN FOR YOU IN THE 4 WEEKS YOU HAD IT TO TEST. AMAZING ISN'T IT? ON JANUARY 11, 2020, I TURNED ON THE IGNITION OF MY 2017 EXPLORER SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND IMMEDIATELY HAD 4 WARNING LIGHTS AND MULTIPLE ERROR MESSAGES APPEAR. IT WAS THE ABS, STABILITY CONTROL ON AND OFF LIGHTS AND A WRENCH. THEN THERE WERE MULTIPLE MESSAGES ABOUT MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE NOT WORKING. I TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO GET ALL OF THE MESSAGES AND TO SEE IF IT WOULD CLEAR. AFTER THE THIRD RESTART THE ENTIRE DASH PANEL WENT OUT COMPLETELY EXCEPT FOR THE RADIO WHICH STAYED ON CONTINUOUSLY FOR 3 DAYS UNTIL IT GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY. NONE OF THE VEHICLES BASIC NECESSITIES WERE WORKING...NO SPEEDOMETER, GAS LIGHTS, WIPERS, OR CLIMATE CONTROL, ETC. ONLY THE ENGINE, HEADLIGHTS, AND TAILLIGHTS WORKED. THE DEALERSHIP IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON THE VEHICLE AND IS CLAIMING IT IS A BATTERY PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS ADMITTED THEY DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THEY ARE GOING TO TRY IT. THEY ALSO STATED THAT "THE VEHICLE CLEARED ITSELF AFTER THE BATTERY DIED WHICH IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO DO". I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH DIFFERENT ITEMS BEING REPLACED, INCLUDING THE BATTERY, TO NO AVAIL. THIS IS MY FAMILY'S PRIMARY VEHICLE AND I REGULARLY DRIVE MY 6 AND 11 YR OLD CHILDREN AROUND IN THIS VEHICLE. WE ALSO TRAVEL THE HIGHWAY AND 4 LANE SUSPENSION BRIDGE EXTENSIVELY. LOSING THESE BASIC SYSTEMS COULD RESULT IN A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET DATING BACK TO DECEMBER 2016 AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. At 60,492 exactly 492 miles after the powertrain warranty expired a wrench on the dash came on and upon further research it was a transmission fault, no power loss noted or change in performance. Key cycle cleared fault, after a little more operating time it would happen again. We took the car to Gosch Ford of Escondido where it was purchased to have the transmission serviced and diagnose the fault. We payed for an filter and oil service for the car and at that time was informed that the transmission did not require any maintenance services until 150,000 miles and that the fault that suddenly presented itself was a torque converter fault & to change out the whole transmission at a cost of 6,000 dollars to us. We reached out to Ford headquarters to plead with them since it prematurely failed before even the first service and we were told too bad so sad for you. Being our only means of transportation my wife had to drive it a bit more to and from work at just prior to our job layoff due to the covid emergency we could not afford 6k in repairs costs and we to this day are curious since many thousands of people have had the same problem across our nation. The same problems are occurring as when your department recalled the ford edge and fusion models. We have power going through the transmission just fine and without any dash warnings whatsoever it will kick itself out of gear then slam indiscriminately back into gear causing a sever health and safety matter during operation. We plead with you to please hear our call and the ones of many many thousands on the Ford Forums that are experinecing the same. Also according to the dealership all recalls have been performed on this vehicle yet the nhtsa site shows nothing has been performed. Thank you very much.
