TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TESTING THE VEHICLE WITH AN ELECTROMAGNETIC READING DEVICE, HE NOTICED A HIGH LEVEL ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEBANON FORD LOCATED AT (770 COLUMBUS AVE, LEBANON, OH 45036), WERE THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.*DT*JB*DT*JB
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the driver's side front window trim detached. The contact pulled over but was unable to locate the window trim. The dealer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the driver's side front window trim needed to be replaced; however, the replacement part was on backorder. The contact was able to purchase the replacement part online; however, he had to glue it to the front driver's side window due to fractured clips used to secure the window trim in place. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. WE WERE DRIVING FORWARD ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER, A WRENCH LOGO APPEARED ON THE DASH DISPLAY, THEN WE COASTED THE CAR TO A STOP AT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD. THEN WE SMELLED SMOKE, SAW FLAMES FLICKERING UP FROM THE HOOD, VACATED THE VEHICLE AND CALLED 911 AS THE FRONT OF THE CAR UNDER THE HOOD BURST INTO FLAMES. THE CAR WAS QUICKLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. CITY POLICE ARRIVED TO CONTROL TRAFFIC AWAY FROM OUR BURNING CAR, AND THEN THE FIRETRUCK AND FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS TOWED AWAY ON A FLATBED.
VERY STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE CABIN. I WAS USING THE CAR'S AUTOMATIC START FEATURE AND WHEN I GOT IN CAR TO DRIVE KIDS TO SCHOOL, YOU COULD SMELL EXHAUST THROUGHOUT CAR. JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED CAR AND NOTICED THIS ISSUE ON 2ND DAY OF OWNERSHIP. WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ODOR SEEMS TO GO AWAY BUT IF YOU STOP AT A LIGHT OR ARE IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC, FUMES QUICKLY BUILD UP AGAIN.
WHEN STARTING I NOTICED THE FRONT AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ON INDICATING A MALFUNCTION FURTHER EXAMINATION INDICATED A PROBLEM WITH PASSENGER SRS NOT INDICATING PROPER ILLUMINATION UPON START UP AND THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE ALWAYS ON FRONT AIRBAG WARNING UNLESS PASSENGER OCCUPYING SEAT IN OTHER WORDS IF THE INDICATOR TEST AT START UP FAILS THE SYSTEM TURNS ON THE FRONT AIRBAG LIGHT UNTIL SOMEONE IN SEAT/ IT ALSO MEANS IS A SUBSEQUENT FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM WILL NOT BE OBSERVED AS THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ALREADY TURNED ON FOR THE EARLIER REASON *LN INVALID VIN *JB*JB
VEHICLE HAS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WHERE IT WILL LOSE ALL POWER (STALL), AND ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS WILL INHERENT SPORADIC BEHAVIOR, FOR INSTANCE THE VEHICLE WILL REFUSE TO COMPLETELY SHUT-OFF. THE ERROR MESSAGE ON THE DASH SHOW "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE". THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS SAT FOR THE NIGHT. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERNS AS THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY STALL ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER FORD'S EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND HAS BEEN TO (2) SEPARATE DEALERS TO TROUBLESHOOT. THE FIRST DEALER COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE, THE DEALER IT IS CURRENTLY AT, HAS BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT NOT SURE THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM, AS IT DOESN'T STORE ANY CODES. THE DEALER BELIEVES IT IS A HIGH SPEED CAN NETWORK MALFUNCTION. IT HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP FOR A TOTAL OF 12 WEEKS. I HAVE VIDEO'S OF THE OCCURRENCES, AS WELL AS VOICE-MAILS FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT THEY CAN REPRODUCE THE FAILURE.
WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON MY FLAT DRIVEWAY MY DAUGHTER BACKED HER FORD EDGE INTO THE REAR OF THE EXPLORER AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE EXPLORER WHICH WAS NOT RUNNING AND WAS TURNED OFF AND IN PARK AT THE TIME ROLLED OFF THE DRIVEWAY. ROLLED THROUGH AN OPEN LOT BEHIND OUR HOUSE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL THROUGH THE OPEN LOT AND CROSSED THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREET BEHIND OUR HOUSE. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED THROUGH ANOTHER VACANT LOT, AND ROLLED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT THROUGH ANOTHER LOT. THE VEHICLE STOPPED ONLY AFTER STRIKING A TREE AND COMING TO REST. IN ALL THE VEHICLE TRAVELED APPROX 300 YARDS AND HAD IT NOT STRUCK THE TREE IT WOULD HAVE CROSSED A BUSY TWO LANE ROAD. I GOT TO THE VEHICLE IT WAS LOCKED AND IN PARK. THERE WAS A GOOD AMOUNT OF FRONT END DAMAGE AND THERE WAS NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO OUR HOUSE BUT IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN ANY FURTHER.

I RECENTLY FAILED NY STATE INSPECTION DUE TO PREMATURE TIRE WEAR ON MY FORD EXPLORER 2017 WITH 24,500 MILES. THE HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE HAVE A SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING PREMATURE WEAR, HOWEVER NO FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WILL SERVICE MY VEHICLE EVEN AFTER CONTACTING HANKOOK AND PROVIDING INFORMATION ON THE SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. WE SHOULD NOT ALLOW KNOWN POORLY MANUFACTURED TIRES ON OUR ROADS.
EXHAUST SMELL COMING INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. SMELLS LIKE HOT EXHAUST THAT IS COMING IN THROUGH THE FRONT VENTS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. SMELLS VERY BAD AND CAN'T BE GOOD FOR YOU.
I BOUGHT MY EXPLORER BRAND NEW. AT 28,000 MILES THE BATTERY WAS LEAKING AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE OTHER DAY I DID AN OIL CHANGE AND NOTICED THE BATTERY WAS LEAKING AGAIN AND CAUSING CORROSION. THE ACID IS CLEARLY VISIBLE ON THE BATTERY. MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER 3 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 36 MONTHS. THE BATTERY IS FROM 8/18/18. NOW MY VEHICLE HAS 52000 MILES. THREE DIFFERENT FORD SHOPS COGGIN DELAND, GARY YEOMAN, MULLINAX FORD REFUSE TO REPLACE IT DUE TO IT BEING "ORIGINAL BATTERY". THIS IS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NO REASON THIS SHOULD HAPPEN. WHEN I ASKED GARY REP IF THIS WAS COMMON AND THEY STATED "YES WE SEE THIS ALOT AND THATS WHY WE OFFER 7 YEAR BATTERIES". THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WHEN A BATTERY IS BEING USED PER YEAR PER 28000 MILES.
TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR TIRE PROBLEM. THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEED ALL TIRES REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE HAS 27000 MILES ON IT. THE TIRES ARE RATED FOR 50000 MILES. MY WIFE DRIVES THE CAR. SHE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE IN IT AT ALL. THE TIRES SPIN IN WET CONDITIONS DUE TO THE ABNORMAL WEAR ON THE TIRES. SHE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR SLIDE WHILE TRYING TO STOP. SHE SAID SHE WAS WITHIN INCHES OF HITTING THE CAR INFRONT OF HER. THESE ARE THE HANKOOK NOBLE 2 TIRES. HANKOOK SAID THEY WOULD PRO RATE THE COST OF NEW TIRES. HANKOOK KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND LET FORD KNOW THIS IS WHAT THEY WOULD DO. FORD HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. MY LEASE IS DUE IN 7 MONTHS. THE TIRES SHOULD AT LEAST LAST 3 YEARS. I AM AT THE POINT OF TELLING MY WIFE TO PARK THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE A DIFFERENT CAR. SAFETY IS A BIG FACTOR WITH THIS ISSUE. WHY IS NOBODY WORRIED ABOUT THE ISSUE THAT THESE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED WHEN THE ISSUE WAS FOUND. I ANYONE IN MY FAMILY DOES NOT FEEL SAFE, WE WILL NOT DRIVE IT WITH WINTER COMING. SAD THAT NEITHER COMPANY WANTS TO TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY. NOT GOING TO GET ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM FORD OR WITH HANKKOK TIRES AGAIN.
STEERING TIGHTENS UP ON CURVES OR STRAIGHT A-WAYS. DEALER RAN TEST ON COMPUTER AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS, AND A TEST DRIVE DID NOT REVEAL ANY PROBLEM AT THE TIME. DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS ELECTRIC STEERING. STEERING IS STILL A PROBLEM....
VEHICLE STARTED JERKING, SO TOOK IT TO FORD AFTER SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT AND STILL COULDN'T GET IT SEEN. CLERK SAID IT NEEDED TO STAY OVERNIGHT BUT WILL NOT GIVE ME A LOANER SO LET ME LEAVE WITH THE SAME CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING FORWARD OR IN REVERSE AS I ENTERED A PARKING GARAGE, SO TOWED IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP TO ONLY FIND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS BLOWN AND WILL COST $7K TO REPAIR. THE VEHICLE IS A 2017 WITH 75,000 MILES, BOUGHT NEW AND WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW. CLERK STATED IT IS OUTSIDE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY OF 5 YEARS 60,000 MILES. HOWEVER THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD AS THEY ARE GOING THROUGH A LAWSUIT NOW DUE TO THEIR TRANSMISSIONS BUT WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE.
PURCHASED 2017 FORD EXPLORER NEW WITH ONLY 549 MILES. 16 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, AT APPROX. 39,000 MILES, TORQUE CONVERTER WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. 16 MONTHS LATER, AT APPROX. 79,000 MILES, TORQUE CONVERTER WENT OUT AGAIN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE YET ANOTHER FAULTY FORD TRANSMISSION ISSUE, AS I AM A DAILY COMMUTER AND KEEP MY VEHICLES WELL MAINTAINED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATE AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AND ROTATED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE SHIFTING GEARS, AN ABNORMAL BOOMING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE RELEASING OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ORANGE PARK FORD LOCATED AT 7700 BLANDING BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32244 HOWEVER, THE FAILURES WERE NOT DUPLICATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the side window molding was peeling off. The contact then stated that the driver's side molding was coming apart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the contact was informed that the driver's and passenger's side window molding needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover only a portion of the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
EXHAUST AND CARBON MONOXIDE COMING INTO CABIN OF CAR. FORD SAID THEY FIXED THE ISSUE WITH TSB17-0044, BUT THAT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. MY WIFE AND I GET DIZZINESS AND THE KIDS COMPLAIN OF THE SMELL AND HEADACHES.
ROOF RACK RAIL CAP DEPARTED THE VEHICLE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT DRIVES A 2017 FORD EXPLORER POLICE VEHICLE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED OUT INTO AN OPEN PARKING LOT WHERE IT CAUGHT FIRE. PRIOR TO THE FIRE, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE. THE CONTACT STARTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO FINISH THE JOB. POLICE AND FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO VILLAGE FORD (23535 MICHIGAN AVE, DEARBORN, MI 48124, (313) 565-3900) WHERE IT WAS CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED. THE CONTACT THAT THE FUSE PANEL MAY HAVE MELTED AND CAUSED THE FIRE AFTER RESEARCHING OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. *LN*JB CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. VEHICLE WAS SENT TO HIS COMPANY'S ATTORNEY FOR A POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. *DL
FAILURE OF THE HEATER CORE RESULTING IN THE RELEASE OF A FINE MIST OF ANTIFREEZE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND FOGGING UP THE INSIDE DRIVERS WINDOW WHILE DRIVING DOWN AN INTERSTATE. VISIBILITY REDUCED TO ZERO THROUGH THIS WINDOW. FAILURE OCCURRED AT 37.8K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. REPAIR COST $1,722.00 TO OWNER.
HERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION STALLING HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT 44000 MILES.
THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION STALLING AND LATER THE MOTOR MOUNTS HAD TO BE REPLACED VEG ONLY HAD 62,000 MILES ON IT. THE POWER TRAIN HAPPENED SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE THE PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR MOUNTS
THE VEHICLE HAS 34,450 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED OCT 1 2016 BUT IS A 2017 MODEL. THE STEERING FAILED ON OCTOBER 13TH WHILE I WAS IN ESTES PARK COLORADO. THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES JUST PRIOR TO THE FAILURE WITH A WARNING THE TRACTION CONTROL HAD STOPPED WORKING FOLLOWED BY A HILL START ASSIST FAILURE AND THE STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY. I'VE ATTACHED PICTURES OF THE WARNINGS. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED 14 DAYS AFTER THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY ENDED. THANKFULLY I HAD PARKED THE VEHICLE JUST PRIOR TO THE STEERING FAILING AS I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS MOUNTAIN CANYON WITHIN THE NEXT 10 MINUTES. THE FORD DEALER THUS FAR HAS REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR TO THIS KNOWN ISSUE WHICH IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
I WENT OUT TO MY CAR THIS MORNING TO GO TO WORK AND FOUND THAT THE REAR WINDOW OF THE VEHICLE HAD SHATTERED. IT SEAMS LIKE IT MAY HAVE ORIGINATED FROM WHERE THE WIPER GOES THROUGH THE REAR GLASS. I KNOW THAT IT WASN'T BROKEN BY ANYONE BECAUSE I HAVE SECURITY CAMERAS. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY.
VEHICLE VIBRATION AT 60 MPH. SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID INSTALLED "ROAD ANALYZER" AND PERFORMED "NVH DIAGNOSTICS". ALL TIRES BALANCED WITHIN 1/4 OZ, FOUND TWO REAR TIRES WITH 5015 MILES ON VEHICLE TO HAVE ROAD ROAD FORCE OF 18-20 LBS ON EACH OF THE REAR TIRES. DIAGNOSIS REPLACE TIRES!
VEHICLE LOSES ACCELERATION, STALLS AND SHAKES WHEN AT A STOP. JERKS WHEN BACKING UP. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO FORD TWO TIMES. FIRST TIME REPLACED THROTTLE, AND SECOND TIME UNABLE TO DUPLICATE ERROR. CURRENTLY WILL BE PICKING UP VEHICHLE FROM SHEEHY FORD ASHLAND IN VA. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE
I HAVE HANKOOK TIRES ON MY FORD EXPLORER. BOUGHT IT NEW WITH THESE. LESS THAN 25,000 MILES AND THEY LOOK TO BE TEARING UP ALL OVER. HANKOOK SAYS THERE'S NO WARRANTY ON THEIR TIRES. TECHNICIAN SAYS I NEED THEM CHANGED RIGHT AWAY OR THEY WILL 'BLOW OUT.' *JS
PURCHASED 2017 FORD EXPLORER DECEMBER 2017 WITH ORIGINAL HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE2 255/50R20 105H TIRES. HAVE 17,000 MILES AND HAVE BEEN ROTATED AT EACH OIL CHANGE; BEEN HAVING EXTREME TREADWEAR AND WAS TOLD BY THE AUTHORIZED DEALER THAT ITHE TIRES ARE BAD AND NEED REPLACED. DEALER SUGGESTED TO CONTACT HANKOOK DIRECTLY BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES. I CONTACTED HANKOOK CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES ARE BAD BUT THEY HAVE TO BE 4/32 TO GET A PRO RATED DISCOUNT, AT THIS TIME I HAVE 1-3/32, 2- 4/32 AND 1- 5/32, THE FORD DEALER WOULD NOT HONOR THE NEW CAR WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY SAID IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE AND HANKOOK NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF IT. MEANWHILE, NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE BAD TIRES AT ONLY 17000 MILES, EVEN THOUGH THE EXPLORER IS RATED ON TOP FOR ROLLOVERS WITH A BLOWOUT... THIS IS ANOTHER DANGEROUS ISSUE SIMILAR TO THE FIRESTONE DISASTER. ARE THEY GOING TO WAIT UNTIL THERE ARE DEATHS BEFORE THEY START REPLACING THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES?
HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES, SIZE 255/50/R20/105H FOR FORD EXPLORER 2017 WORE OUT UPON INSPECTION. MILEAGE WAS UNDER 21, 000 AND TIRE THREAD WAS REALLY BAD. NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER SAID IT WAS MY RESPONSIBLITY. HANKOOK TIRES ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST FOR 50,000 MILES. THESE TIRES SHOULD BE RECALLED. DEALER WAS ABLE TO PAY FOR 60% OF TIRES AND REPLACED WITH NEW ONE, HOWEVER, I HAD TO PAY FOR 40%. RIDICULOUS NEVER HAVE I PAYED FOR NEW TIRE WITH A LEASED CAR. WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH FORD. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, TIRES NEED TO BE RECALLED, NOTICED SAME TIRES ON BRAND NEW FORD EXPLORER 2020. DEALERSHIP HAS PICTURES ETC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH FOR TWO HOURS, AN ABNORMAL ODOR WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE CONTACT BEGAN TO FEEL DIZZY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANGELA KRAUSE FORD (1575 MANSELL RD, ALPHARETTA, GA 30009, (770) 649-5100) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY ACID WAS NOT CLEANED UP PROPERLY AND CORRODED EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD, INCLUDING THE BRAKE LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

ON 09/11/2019, AT APPROXIMATELY 6PM, WE WERE TRAVELING NORTH ON WV SR2 NORTH APPROXIMATELY 2.5 TO 3.0 MILES NORTH OF THE SR2 I-77 INTERCHANGE. 2017 FORD EXPLORER WAS STOPPED, WAITING ON OPPOSING TRAFFIC TO CLEAR, IN ORDER TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT OF CHURCH. VEHICLE WAS REAR-ENDED BY A DODGE DAKOTA PICKUP TRUCK IMPACTING SLIGHTLY OFF CENTER TOWARDS THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE 4 OCCUPANTS OF THE EXPLORER. THE DRIVER WAS A 39 YEAR OLD MALE. THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS A 36 YEAR OLD FEMALE. IN THE SECOND ROW WERE THE OTHER 2 PASSENGERS. ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS A 4 YEAR OLD FEMALE, FORWARD FACING IN A GRACO EXTEND2FIT CAR SEAT. THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS OCCUPIED BY A 7 YEAR OLD MALE IN AN EVENFLO BOOSTER SEAT. ALL PASSENGERS WERE WEARING APPROPRIATE RESTRAINING DEVICES. ALL PASSENGERS WERE SHAKEN UP, WITH EXTERNAL INJURIES TO BOTH DRIVERS SIDE OCCUPANTS. THE PROXIMATE CAUSE OF THE INJURIES WAS DUE TO FAILURE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE SEAT BASE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE CAUSING THE SEAT BACK TO FALL BACK ONTO THE 2ND ROW PASSENGER, STRIKING THE PASSENGER, AND THE HEADREST BENT AND PARTIALLY DETACHED. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE SEAT BACK WAS FULLY UPRIGHT AND THE SEAT WAS RESTING UPON THE LEGS OF THE JUVENILE FEMALE AFTER IMPACT. SHE SUFFERED CONTUSIONS TO HER LEGS FROM THE SEAT IMPACTING HER AND SHE SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND LACERATION (REQUIRING 9 EXTERNAL SUTURES AS WELL AS SOME INTERNAL ONES) ABOVE HER RIGHT EYE, CAUSED BY EITHER THE HEAD OF THE DRIVER OR POSSIBLY THE HEADREST. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A LACERATION TO THE CROWN OF HIS HEAD REQUIRING 9 STAPLES TO CLOSE. THE DRIVER AND THE JUVENILE FEMALE WERE TRANSPORTED TO MARIETTA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN MARIETTA OH WHERE THEY RECEIVED TREATMENT AND WERE RELEASED. RESPONDING TO THE SCENE WAS THE WAVERLY VFD AS WELL AS THE WOOD COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND ST. JOSEPH'S AMBULANCE SERVICE.
I TOOK MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER SPORT WITH 23,800 MILES TO BE INSPECTED TODAY AND IT FAILED INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES ARE SEVERELY WORN. I TOOK IT TO A TIRE PLACE AND THEY CONCURRED. THE TIRES ARE HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2. THERE IS ALMOST NO TREAD LEFT AND THE THEY ARE SCALLOPING AND FLAKING PIECES OF RUBBER.
MY VECHILE WHEN DRIVING AT 65-70 MPH STILL HAS FUMES GETTING INTO TO CABIN. I HAVE TAKEN THE VECHILE FOR THIS RECALL BUT THE PROBLEM PERSIST. I HAVE TO OPEN THE WINDOWS TO REFRESH THE CABIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY TELL ME THAT THERE ALL SERVICE WAS DONE. C@N YOU PLEASE ASSIST. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AT THOSE SPEEDS.
HANKOOK BRAND TIRES ON FORD EXPLORER. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 SETS OF HANOOK TIRES ON MY FORD EXPLORER AT 25,00 AND 20,000 MILES ON THE TIRES FOR LOW TRED ON TIRES. THE TIRES HAVE A 70,000 MILE WARRANTY AND THE WAS NO CAUSE FOR TIRE WEAR, I.E. OUT OF ALIGNMENT.
THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1NOBLE2 FRONT TIRES THAT ARE SHREDDING BOTH ON THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR PARAMETER OF THE TIRES. THE DELAMINATION IS MIGRATING TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE TIRE AS WELL WITH FLAPS AND CHUNKS OF RUBBER SOME OVER 10MM ARE SEPARATING FROM THE SUBSTRATE. THE TIRES ONLY HAVE 27,000 MILES ON THEM AND LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE 50,000+. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A VULCANIZATION PROBLEM LIKE THIS IN MY CAREER. THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS RUBBER COMPOUND REMINISCENT OF THE FORD FIRESTONE DEBACLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND THE DEALER SEAMS TO BE INEFFECTIVE IN GETTING A CORRECTIVE ACTION IN PLACE. THE DEALER IS SKALNEK FORD IN LAKE ORION, MI AND WAS NOTIFIED ON SATURDAY AUGUST 17TH WHEN I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD NEED TO BRING MY CAR BACK ON MONDAY AUGUST 19TH AT WHICH TIME THEY WOULD FIX THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SINCE RETURNED FROM THE DEALER WITH THE REPAIR NOT COMPLETED AS THE DEALER IS WAITING FOR HANKOOK TO RESPOND BACK TO THEM WITH THE REPAIR AUTHORIZATION. AS OF THIS COMPLAINT THE DEALER SAID FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE ISSUE AS IT IS OUT OF THE 12/12 WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE TIRES, AND THEY ARE NOT SURE IF OR WHEN HANKOOK WOULD RESPOND. ON A SEPARATE NOTE WHEN I WAS IN THE SERVICE AREA OF THE DEALER ANOTHER CUSTOMER WHICH ALSO HAPPENED TO BE AN ENGINEER SAID HE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS VEHICLE AND REPLACED AT HIS EXPENSE ALL 4 TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND. IN SHORT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND COULD IN FACT PUT CONSUMERS AT RISK. MY WIFE ONLY DISCOVERED THE ISSUE BECAUSE SHE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A POTENTIAL TRADE-IN AND THE DEALER ALERTED HER TO THE ISSUE OF THURSDAY THE 15TH OF AUGUST.

THE REAR SUSPENSION STARTED WITH A LOWER NOISE IN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE, WHENEVER I MAKE TURNS OR THE ROAD IS A LITTLE ROUGH. TO THIS DAY IS GETTING A LOT WORSE, MORE NOISE AND UNSTABLE WHEN I TAKE TURNS. ALSO THE SEAT BELT LIGHT COME ON, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE MODULE IS MALFUNCTION AND NEED TO RESET OR REPLACE WITH A NEW ONE.
THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY BROKE WHEN MY PASSENGER WAS ATTEMPTING TO BUCKLE HERSELF. A SPRING POPPED OUT OF THE CENTER SEATBELT MECHANISM AND THE SEATBELT WOULD NO LONGER LATCH. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND OFF AT THE TIME. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR THE SEATBELT TO BE FIXED. THE PART # FOR THE SEATBELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY IS DB5Z-7860044-EB. THIS PART WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY DUE TO THE MILEAGE AND WAS NOT CONSIDERED A COVERED PART ON OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON OUR VEHICLE WHICH IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD.
TAKATA RECALL AFTER PURCHASING 2017 EXPLORER NOTICED SEVERE HEADACHES, DIGESTION PROBLEMS, DROWSINESS, DIFFICULTY FOCUSING DUE TO CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERING THE CABIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR A RECALL BUT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THAT THEY SOLVED THE ISSUE. ALSO NOTICED A RUMBLING SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHEN TURNING LEFT UNDER ACCELERATION, FEELING LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WOULD NEVER EXPECT SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO OCCUR ON A $47K CAR WITH ONLY 30K MILES.
I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TWICE OVER THE LAST YEAR. WHEN I HAVE ACCELERATED QUICKLY WHILE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY , THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WILL REMAIN DEPRESSED DOWN. THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE WITH MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. I THEN APPLY THE BRAKES PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES AND 1) PULL OFF ROAD IN THE FIRST INSTANCE OR 2) GAS PEDAL WILL RETURN TO NORMAL POSITION AND CAR WILL DECELERATE
