TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V435000 (SUSPENSION) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED AT VIVA FORD (5550 N DESERT BLVD, EL PASO, TX 79912, 915-834-2800). AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MIDDLE OF BOTH REAR TIRES BEGAN TO WEAR ON THE TRACTION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRE WEAR WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE SUPERVISOR WHO AGREED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT TIRES AND OFFERED A FREE ALIGNMENT. THE DEALER SWITCHED THE TWO FRONT TIRES AND PLACED THEM IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER THEN PLACED TWO NEW TIRES ON THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE CONTACT'S WIFE DROVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF STATE. UPON REACHING HER DESTINATION, SHE NOTICED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN WITH THE REAR TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
THE LEANING EDGES OF CAR HOOD HAS PAINT BUBBLES. THE LOCAL FORD REPRESENTATIVE STATED THIS WAS A CLASSIC FAULT OF FORD IN LATER MODELS WITH ALUMINUM HOODS. HE STATED THAT MOISTURE WILL PENETRATE THE PAINT AND CAUSE BUBBLES. HE STATED THAT FORD MOTOR WILL NOT CORRECT PROBLEM NOR WILL THEY REPAINT AT THEIR EXPENSE.
ROOF RAIL COVERS HAVE REPEATEDLY BLOWN OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY FORD UNDER THE 3 YEAR/36K WARRANTY 3 TIMES ON MY VEHICLE, AND HAVE BLOWN OFF ON BOTH SIDES. THEY ARE ABOUT 5 FEET LONG PIECES OF PLASTIC, AND CERTAINLY PRESENT A HAZARD TO CARS ON THE HIGHWAY BEHIND ME WHEN THEY BLOW OFF. THE DESIGN APPEARS VERY POOR, AS THEY ARE SNAPPED INTO PLACE.
I PURCHASED MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER ON FEB 14 2019 USED FROM A DEALER IN NC. A SHORT TIME AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I BEGAN SMELLING EXHAUST IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS LOOKED OVER AT MY LOCAL DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND SINPLY REPLOACED THE CABIN AIR FILTER WHICH WAS BLACK WHEN IT WAS REMOVED. THE ISSUE PERSISTS AND IS GETTING WORSE EVERY WEEK. THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED AND THE DEALER ACTED LIKE THEY HAS NEVER HEARD OF THE ISSUE AND DIDNT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THE COMPLAINT. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK WEEKLY UNTIL SOMETHING IS DONE AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE NEW OR USED. I FEEL AS THOUGH I AM BEING DISREGARDED AND MY FAMILY'S HEALTH AND SAFETY ARE AT RISK FROM THIS ISSUE!
I PURCHASED A 2017 FORD EXPLORER WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 105H TIRES IN SEPT 2017. I ONLY HAVE 14400 MILES ON THESE TIRES. THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INFLATED CORRECTLY, AND MAINTAINED. TODAY, MY HUSBAND NOTICED THE TIRES ARE SHREDDING. BASICALLY THE RUBBER IS PEELING OFF THE TIRE IN CHUNKS. FORD SAYS THEY DON'T WARRANTY TIRES, AND HANKOOK HAS THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT! WHAT A SAD DAY!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED INWARD WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY ON THE REAR WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT WINDOW INSTALLER (SAFE LIGHT) AT HIS EXPENSE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
FORD EXPLORERS, SUCH AS MINE, ARE EQUIPPED FROM THE FACTORY WITH DEFECTIVE AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES, ACKNOWLEDGED BY THE TIRE MANUFACTURER HANKOOK. THIS TYPE OF TIRE PROVIDED BY FORD AND HANKOOK HAVE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THEIR CONSTRUCTION AND DURABILITY WHICH NOT ONLY IS A SIGNIFICANT CONCERN FOR THE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELFARE OF OWNERS SUCH AS MYSELF. MOREOVER, SIGNIFICANT FISCAL CONCERNS BASED UPON REPLACEMENT OF SUCH TIRES DUE TIRES DEVELOPING CRACKS, CRACKS, AND CHIPS IN TIRE SIDEWALL WHICH RESULTS IN RAPID LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE THAT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND INCREASE LIKELY OF AN ACCIDENT AND/OR SIGNIFICANT INJURY OR DEATH. I HAVE PERSONALLY SENT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT DUE TO ISSUES WITH AFFECTED TIRE DAMAGE. HANKOOK MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR MANUFACTURING AND SELLING PRODUCTS WITH KNOWN DEFECTS. MY VEHICLE, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALER, CURRENTLY HAS 26,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE TO REPLACE HANKOOK'S DEFECTIVE TIRES DUE AS A RESULT OF THE TIRES HAVING CHIPS, CRACKS, AND UNUSUAL ACCELERATED TREAD WEAR WHICH WAS NOT THE RESULT OF IMPROPER ALIGNMENT.
STRONG BURNING SMELL AND EXHAUST LIKE SMELL ENTERING THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE SMELL COMES IN THROUGH THE AIR VENTS AND IN THROUGH THE WINDOWS WHEN THEY ARE ROLLED DOWN. THE VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE IT IS BURNING AT TIMES WHILE OTHER TIMES IT PRODUCES A STRONG SULFUR SMELL. THIS ISSUE IS SPORADIC AND SEEMS TO OCCUR MOSTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RAN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WHEN ACCELERATING RAPIDLY.
THE TIRES ON MY FORD EXPLORER WE'RE COMPLETELY BALD WITH LESS THAN 14,000 MILES ON THEN. I DRIVE SLOW AND AM SAFE MINDED DRIVER. WHEN THE TIRES APPEARED TO BE CUT I TOOK THE EXPLORER BACK TO THE DEALER AND TWO OTHER TIRE DEALERS. ALL SAID THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND WOULD BECOME DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I SEE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME TIRES ON THIS SAME VEHICLE ON HERE. FORD DID NOT WANT TO WARRANTY THE TIRES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BLUETOOTH DISCONNECTED AND THE GPS AND TEMPERATURE SENSORS WERE UNRESPONSIVE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TOOK MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER IN TO AUTO DEALER FOR SERVICE (UNDER 11,000 MILES) AND HAD OIL CHANGE AND WINDSHIELD WIPER CHANGED FOR A TRIP I WAS TAKING. I TURNED THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER ON DUE TO THE RAIN AND THE BLADE FLEW OFF , PERMANELTY SCRATCHING MY REAR WINDOW. DEALER STATED IT WAS NOT THIER FAULT SO MUST BE AN ISSUE WITH THE WIPER BLADE.
GOT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW. HAVE SMELLED STRONG EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED TO WORSEN.
THE LINES TO THE REAR CABIN HEATING AND COOLING STARTED LEAKING R134, SO THE WHOLE CAR IS LOSING AIR CONDITIONING SINCE IT ALL TIES TOGETHER. THE CAR IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD, AND IS HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS, WHICH SHOULD BE QUITE EMBARRASSING TO AN EXPERIENCED AUTO MAKER LIKE FORD. THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY BECAUSE THE CAR WAS IN COLORADO WHERE ROADS ARE SALTED IN THE WINTER, BUT THE LINES SHOULD BE ALUMINUM, SO THEY SHOULDN'T CORRODE FROM SALT.
AFTER THE 2017 FORD EXPLORER SPORT WAS STARTED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS BLANK, THE CLIMATE WOULD NOT WORK, THE WIPERS, BLINKERS, WINDOWS, ETC. WOULD NOT OPERATE. I TRIED RESTARTING THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WOULD CORRECT ITSELF AND IT DID NOT. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY ASKED ME TO DROP IT OFF. IT WAS POURING DOWN RAIN AND I COULD BARELY SEE TO DRIVE SINCE THE WIPERS WOULD NOT WORK. I COULD NOT BLINKER TO TURN. THANKFULLY, I ONLY HAD TO DRIVE ABOUT A MILE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THE CAR HAS ONLY 21,000 MILES ON IT. UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS NOT THE FIRST ISSUE WITH THIS BRAND NEW EXPLORER. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AT 18,000 MILES BECAUSE IT HAD CORRODED. THE TIRES ARE ALL TEARING. I REALLY LIKE THE VEHICLE, JUST ASHAME THESE VEHICLES ARE NOT BUILT WITH QUALITY MATERIALS. I PAID 46,000 FOR WHAT I CONSIDER A LUXURY VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY THIS IS ALL UNDER WARRANTY.
WHEN GEAR IS ENGAGED IN 'D' WITH ENGINE ON, VEHICLE MOVES WITHOUT FOOT ON THROTTLE. WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED TO STOP IT, THERE COMES A LOUD VIBRATION FROM THE ENGINE WHICH BECOMES NERVOUS AND TRIES TO DRAG VEHICLE FORWARD UNLESS GEAR IS PUT IN 'N' OR 'P'. IT HAPPENS ANYTIME VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WITH ENGINE RUNNING INCLUDING STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS. NO CHECK LIGHT ON DASHBOARD. PHENOMENON OBSERVED IN EARLY FEBRUARY 2019.
MY 2017 EXPLORER LIMITED (11042 MILES DRIVEN SINCE NEW AS OF TODAY ) AND PURCHASED NEW DECEMBER 2017 FACTORY EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES, ARE VIBRATING AT ALL SPEEDS AND WON`T HOLD AIR PRESSURE LONGER THAN TWO WEEKS. DURING INSPECTION, MINUTE HAIRLINE CRACKS WERE DETECTED ON ALL 4 TIRES. THIS VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN SHORT DISTANCES NOT EXCEEDING 50 MILES RADIUS. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AT 5000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPUTABLE SHOP FOR INSPECTION AND THEY RECOMMEND REPLACING ALL FOUR TIRES ASAP. THIS TIRES SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASAP.
THERE IS AN EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN MAKING ME SICK, NAUSEA, HEADACHES, AND BURNING EYES. THE EXHAUST IS COMING IN THROUGH THE HEATING AND AIR SYSTEM AND IS MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN ACCELERATING AND WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. THE SMELL IS NOT AS NOTICEABLE WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. THE SMELL IS THE SAME WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE RECIRCULATE FEATURE IS ENABLED. TURNING OFF THE HEAT / AIR CONDITIONER SEEMS TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. IT IS DEFINITELY COMING INTO THE CABIN FROM THE HEAT AND A/C. I JUST LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND DISCOVERED ALL THE TALK ON THE INTERNET AND THAT FORD WAS OFFERING A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" INSPECTION THAT ENDED ON 12/31/18 WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTABLE SINCE MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY RECENTLY DEVELOPED THIS PROBLEM AND WE HAVE RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION FROM FORD OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM AND THE INSPECTION / REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, IT SUDDENLY DISENGAGED ON ITS OWN. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BRAKE ON ITS OWN AND SWERVE FROM SIDE TO SIDE. SAYVILLE FORD (5686 SUNRISE HWY, SAYVILLE, NY 11782, (855) 561-1191) STATED THAT THE LEASING MILEAGE LIMIT WAS EXCEEDED, BUT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COSTS. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED THE SAME INFORMATION AS THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE BATTERY EXPLODED, BUT THE DEALER DISMISSED THE CONCERNS AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
EXHAUST STILL ENTERING CABIN FOLLOWING FORD CORRECTIVE MEASURES. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR THIS SEEMINGLY ONGOING ISSUE USING THE CORRECTIVE MEASURES SPECIFIED ON THE MOST RECENT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (17NO3); HOWEVER, THE CARCINOGENS AND CARBON MONOXIDE PRODUCED BY THE EXHAUST ARE STILL ENTERING THE CABIN FOLLOWING ACCELERATION. AS WITH OTHER SERIOUS COMPLAINTS INVOLVING THIS VEHICLE, THE ODOR IS A DELAYED RESPONSE TO ACCELERATION, BUT VERY EVIDENT. AS NHTSA IS THE CONSUMER'S AVENUE FOR ASSISTANCE IN PROTECTING THEIR HEALTH AND SAFETY, THIS ONGOING OPEN INVESTIGATION SHOULD RESULT IN CREATING PROVISIONS THAT DEMAND THIS COMPANY TAKE ETHICAL MEASURES IN PREVENTING TOXIC SUBSTANCES FROM ENTERING THEIR VEHICLES. THE OPEN NHTSA INVESTIGATION HAS ALREADY CONCLUDED, "FORD HAS ISSUED MULTIPLE TSBS RELATED TO THE EXHAUST ODOR ISSUE, AND IN SOME CASES REVISED THOSE DOCUMENTS MULTIPLE TIMES...". IF THE MANUFACTURER IS CONTINUOUSLY GENERATING NEW TECHNICAL BULLETINS, BUT COMPLAINTS ARE STILL BEING RAISED WITH MODELS AS OLD AS 2011, THE END RESULT IS THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT TAKING THESE INCIDENCES SERIOUSLY ENOUGH. FORD NEEDS TO BE FORCED INTO CORRECTING A DISASTROUS DESIGN IN THEIR EXHAUST SYSTEM AS THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT PRODUCING RESULTS NEEDED TO PROTECT CONSUMERS. PRACTICES SUCH AS REPROGRAMMING THE AIR HANDLING SYSTEM TO ALLOW FOR MORE "FRESH AIR" TO COME INTO THE CABIN WHEN ACCELERATING IS COUNTERINTUITIVE TO PREVENTING EXHAUST FROM ENTERING THE CABIN. MEASURES TO PROTECT CONSUMERS FROM THESE TOXINS SHOULD BE THE ONLY NHTSA CONCLUSION. THE FACT THAT THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 2011, WITH NO CORRECTIVE CHANGE IN THE EXHAUST'S DESIGN IS ALSO CLEAR INDICATOR THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT INTERESTED IN TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY. FOR NOW, ROLLING WINDOWS DOWN DURING ACCELERATION IS THE ONLY MEASURE TO PROTECT AGAINST THESE TOXINS.
ENGINE OIL LEAKING BETWEEN OIL FILTER AND FILTER ADAPTER ASSY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OC WELCH FORD ON DEC. 28TH 2018 FOR REPAIR FOR FIRST TIME. THE FILTER THEN BEGAN TO SLOW LEAK OIL AND THE VEHICLE AGAIN WAS TAKEN TO OC WELCH FORD ON JAN.18TH 2019. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE THE ADAPTER ASSY HAS EITHER A HAIRLINE CRACK OR WAS MACHINED OUT OF SPECS. OC WELCH FORD ORDERED THE ADAPTER ASSY. CURRENTLY PENDING NOTIFICATION FROM THE DEALER WHEN REPAIR IS COMPLETE.
LOSS OF POWER ASSISTED STEERING WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, AND DURING TURNING
None of the door locks work, making it unsafe and dangerous for crime areas. I have contacted ford many times however they are unwilling to fix issues and it is a widespread issue with the year and model... It is an expensive issue to fix in all 4 doors
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V347000 (Structure). However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the driver's side B-pillar trim was loose. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45-70 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL EXHAUST ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BECAME NAUSEATED AND SUFFERED HEADACHES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JACKY JONES LINCOLN (2407 BROWNS BRIDGE RD, GAINESVILLE, GA 30504, (800) 835-5249) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE ODOR COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT PAYMENT WOULD BE MADE TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO SEAL ANY OPENINGS IN THE EXHAUST AND ENGINE COMPARTMENTS IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
OEM HANKOOK TIRES ON 2017 FORD EXPLORER: WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES ON MY 2017 EXPLORER, IT BEGAN TO HYDROPLANE AT MUCH LOWER SPEEDS THAN WHEN NEW. THE TIRES ARE OEM, HANKOOK, VENTUS S1 NOBLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO FUGATE FORD, WHO SAID THEY RECENTLY PROCESSED TWO OTHER VEHICLES WITH BAD HANKOOK TIRES. ON CLOSER INSPECTION WITH DOUG AT FUGATE, YOU COULD SEE THE TIRE TREAD WAS RIPPING AWAY FROM ITSELF ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TIRE. FUGATE TOOK PICTURES AND PHONED HANKOOK. FUGATE CALLED ME TO SAY THAT BECAUSE THE TIRES HAD 6/32 TREAD REMAINING, THEY WOULD NOT PROCESS THE CLAIM. HANKOOK NEEDED THE TREAD WEAR TO BE 4/32 OR LESS. IN MY VIEW, THAT'S RIDICULOUS... THESE HANKOOK TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE, WHETHER AT 6/32 OR 4/32. TODAY, I HAD ALL FOUR DEFECTIVE TIRES REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING, A BURNING ODOR EMITTED THROUGH THE VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED AUTONATION FORD SCOTTSDALE AT (480) 630-2827 (LOCATED AT 8555 E FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT BLVD, SCOTTSDALE, AZ 85260) AND WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

I WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY IN THE RIGHT LANE AT 55 MPH, WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS TO MY LEFT AND BEHIND ME. I CHANGED THE RADIO STATION AND A WARNING SUDDENLY APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD STATING "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK". I FELT THE CAR BECOMING SLUGGISH AND I LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, BUT HAD NO TURN SIGNAL TO WARN THE TRUCK BEHIND ME. HE NARROWLY MISSED ME AS I PULLED OFF. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP I REALIZED THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF, AS IF I HAD HIT THE IGNITION SWITCH. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SWITCHED ON THE IGNITION. I COULD NOT BELIEVE I HAD INADVERTENTLY TURNED THE CAR OFF, BUT ASSUMED I MUST HAVE, WHILE CHANGING THE RADIO. YESTERDAY, JAN 32, 2018, MY VEHICLE LOST A SERPENTINE BELT AND I LOST POWER. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ASKED IF I SAW A WARNING THAT SAID "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK" BEFORE I LOST POWER. HE SAID HE HAD BEEN HEARING THAT FROM MANY FORD EXPLORER DRIVERS LATELY - THAT THEIR VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPS RUNNING, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE USING THE RADIO. I WILL FOLLOW UP WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, BUT I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN, AS I AM NOW FINDING OTHERS REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE IN ONLINE FORD FORUMS.

THEY DID NOT ADDRESS THE EXHAUST SMELL AND WHEN QUESTION A SECOND TIME THEY STATED IT WAS DRIVEN AND THE COULD NOT SMELL IT. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE THE EXPLORER UNTIL IT GOT WORSE AND THEN BRING IT BACK IN. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. FORD IS KNOWINGLY ALLOWING DEALERSHIPS TO PLACE DEFECTIVE EXPLORERS BACK ON THE STREET. PEOPLE ARE GETTING HURT WITH THIS EXHAUST PROBLEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE SINCE I NEED TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT GETS WORSE, OR PASS-OUT AND WRECK THE EXPLORER

TRYING TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY ON RAMPS COMES TO MIND. OR IF ACCELERATE HARD FROM A STOP LIGHT IN THE CITY. PRETTY MUCH HAVE TO LOWER THE WINDOWS. 2017 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. BASICALLY THE ORIGINAL HANKOOK VENTUS TIRES THAT CAME ON THE CAR HAVE WORN INCREDIBLY FAST. 15000 CURRENTLY AND THEY ARE ALMOST BALD ON THE EDGES. DEALER CLAIMED THAT ALIGNMENT WAS FINE. TIRES ALWAYS INFLATED AND ROTATED. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THESE TIRE ARE NOT ADEQUATE FOR THIS SIZE VEHICLE. FORD HOPES THAT CONSUMERS ARE STUPID AND JUST BUY NEW TIRES. THESE TIRES WILL GET PEOPLE KILLED. FORD SHOULD NOT USE THESE TIRES. CHUCKS OF RUBBER ARE COMING OFF OF THE TIRE AND LEAVING HOLES THAT APPEAR TO BE ABOUT 1/4 INCH DEEP . THIS WILL BE OUR SECOND SET OF TIRES WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 40,000 MILES.

I WENT TO FLOOD FORD DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS ADVISED MY HANKOOK TIRES WERE WEARING RAPIDLY AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON. THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THESE CERTAIN TIRES. I INQUIRED DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING UNDER WARRANTY IF THEY WOULD BE REPLACED AT NO COST TO ME. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY CONTACTED HANKOOK AND THEY WOULD ONLY GIVE ME 500 DOLLARS TOWARDS A NEW SET. I FEEL THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR ME THE CONSUMER DUE TO THE FACT HANKOOK ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THEIR PRODUCT AND MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY.
