THE VEHICLE INSIDE CABIN SOMETIMES SMELLS LIKE NATURAL GAS. DRIVER HAS EXPERIENCED HEADACHE AND WEAKNESS AFTER DRIVING LONGER PERIODS OF TIME. WINDOWS HAVE TO BE OPENED TO RID OF THE SMELL.
STRONG BURNING SMELL INSIDE OF VEHICLE WHEN ACCELERATING. THE SMELL IS SO STRONG IT WILL MAKE YOU NAUSEOUS, REQUIRING ME TO PULL OVER AND EXIT THE VEHICLE. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED IT WAS THE UNDERCARRIAGE COATING BURNING OFF. I AM NOW AT 5500 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND THE SMELL CONTINUES TO PERSIST. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD MOTOR HAVE NOT BEEN HELPFUL IN RECTIFYING THIS PROBLEM OR FINDING THE CAUSE OF THE SMELL. THE PROBLEM OCCURS EVERY TIME I HAVE TO ACCELERATE, ON A DAILY BASIS.
UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT WHILE IN PARK - ALSO NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN SLOWING DOWN
I SMELL EXHAUST IN THE CABIN SOMETIMES. I WORK OUT OF MY CAR A FEW HOURS A DAY, LEAVING IT ON AND WITH AIR CONDITIONING ON WHILE I GO DOOR TO DOOR AND GET HEADACHES AND SUPER TIRED WHICH I HAVE NEVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I ALSO GET EXTREMELY SLEEPY AFTER BEING IN THE CAR FOR MORE THAN AN 40 MINUTES AT A TIME. SOMETIMES I TAKE A NAP IN THE CAR WITH THE A/C ON AND ALL 4 WINDOWS CRACKED ABOUT AN INCH EACH. WHEN I WAKE UP I FEEL DIZZY, SICK AND HAVE A HEADACHE AFTER A WHILE.
PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DOES NOT STAY ON WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT. GOES FROM ON TO OFF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES, SIZE: 255/50R20. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE ROTATED AND IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE TREAD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS MISSING CHUNKS OF RUBBER. THE CONTACT HAD AN UNKNOWN FORD DEALER CONTACT THE TIRE MANUFACTURER ON HIS BEHALF. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE HAD 40,000 MILES, WHICH EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY COVERAGE. THE TIRES WERE INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15T024000 (TIRES). THE TIRE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT RESPONDED BACK TO THE CONTACT DIRECTLY. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR UNLATCHED AND FLEW COMPLETELY OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AFTER DRIVING FOR 40 MINUTES.
VEHICLE SURGE ON FIRST ACCELERATION AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE. SURGE - THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES AN ACCELERATING LUNGE FORWARD AND THEN STOPS FOR ABOUT TWO OR THREE CYCLES (STOP/START, STOP/START ETC.) IT IS UNEXPECTED AND UNCONTROLLABLE UNTIL IT SUBSIDES WITHIN 20 TO 30 FEET. THE DEGREE OF THE UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION IS EXCESSIVE WHEN COMPARED TO THE SLIGHT APPLICATION OF THE GAS PEDAL CONDITIONS - HAPPENS ONLY AFTER THE FIRST STARTUP OF THE ENGINE, IN WARMER WEATHER WHEN THE "CHOKE" IS NOT REQUIRED. EXAMPLE: START ENGINE, BACK OUT OF GARAGE, PLACE IN FIRST GEAR, ACCELERATE SLOWLY FOR THE FIRST TIME. THIS IS WHEN THE SURGE IS EXPERIENCE. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH EVERY STOP/START CYCLE DURING NORMAL DRIVING, LIKE STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT HAPPENS ONLY AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE, AND GOING FORWARD FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE PRIMARY PROBLEM IS THE DEGREE OF THE UNCONTROLLED, OSCILLATING ACCELERATION RELATIVE TO THE SLIGHT AMOUNT THAT THE GAS PEDAL IS APPLIED. IT IS NOT ABOUT AN OVERLY SENSITIVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IT ABOUT THE ENGINE SURGING, THEN DYING OFF, THEN SURGING AGAIN.
OIL LEAK AROUND TURBO AT EXHAUST. COULD BE RELATED TO THE NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL # 16V925000 AS THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME 3.5L GTDI ENGINE AND SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED DURING THE TIME FRAME OF THE 2017 FORD EXPLORER POLICE INTERCEPTOR VEHICLES EFFECTED.
FRONT TIRES HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 255/50R20 ARE SHREDDING AND CHIPPING AT 10K MILES
AT APPROXIMATELY 6:20AM EDT ON MONDAY, 3/12/18 A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR INSTALLED IN MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER PLATINUM INDICATED THE PRESENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE PASSENGER CABIN EXCEEDING 100PPM. THIS ALARM WENT OFF WHEN I WAS 5 MINUTES IN TO MY COMMUTE TO WORK WHILE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT ON A CITY STREET. I ALSO BEGAN GETTING A SEVERE HEADACHE AT THIS TIME. I WENT TO MY DOCTOR ON 3/13/18, ABOUT 24 HOURS SINCE LAST BEING IN THE VEHICLE, AND HAD MY BLOOD TESTED FOR CARBON MONOXIDE PRESENCE. THE CARBOXYHEMOGLOBIN TEST CAME BACK WITH ELEVATED LEVELS OF CARBOXYHEMOGLOBIN (THE LEVEL WAS 1.7 WHICH IS ABOVE THE 1.5 MAX THRESHOLD FOR NON-SMOKERS) WHICH INDICATES HARMFUL EXPOSURE TO CARBON MONOXIDE. MY DOCTOR STATED THAT THIS LEVEL WOULD BE EXPECTED FROM SOMEONE INVOLVED IN A FIRE. ON 3/12/18 I ALSO DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR INVESTIGATION. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY HAD NOT INSPECTED ANY PASSENGER MODEL FORD EXPLORERS FOR THE CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE, ONLY POLICE INTERCEPT VEHICLES, OF WHICH THEY HAVE ONLY INVESTIGATED 2. THEY ALSO INDICATED THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY SERVICE BULLETINS SENT BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR THIS ISSUE.
BACK SEAT (MIDDLE ROW DRIVER SIDE) BECAME UNLATCHED AND HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WHILE DRIVING
CARBON MONOXIDE / EXHAUST GASES ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN WHILE DRIVING MADE ALL PASSENGERS ILL, WITH EXTREME HEADACHES AND NAUSEA. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM VACATION THE CABIN FILLED WITH EXHAUST FUMES AND WAS A PROBLEM FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. IT STARTED ABOUT 30 MINUTES AFTER STARTING THE EXPLORER AND OPENING THE WINDOWS OR TURNING ON THE RECIRCULATING AIR IN THE VEHICLE ONLY MADE THE EXHAUST FUMES WORSE. THIS REQUIRED MANY STOPS AND AIRING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE EXPLORER HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR THE FIRST REPAIR OF INSPECTING THE REAR SEAL AND REPROGRAMMING OF THE HVAC SYSTEM. THIS HAS NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUE. CONTINUE TO HAVE EXHAUST FUMES IN THE PASSENGER CABIN.
RECALL HAS ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED ON MY FORD AND NOW WHEN THE MAX AC IS ON AND YOUR GOING DOWN THE ROAD OR NEED TO ACCELERATE THE MAX AC TURNS OFF AND COMES OUT OF THE DEFROST VENTS AND BLOWS HOT AIR THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND IT DOES OCCUR IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE THAT I CURRENTLY OWN OR HAVE OWNED IN THE PAST
FORD EXPLORER TRANSMISSION COMPLAINT I TOOK MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER INTO FORD DEALER AND EXPLAINED ABOUT A SHIFTING PROBLEM BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR THE BUT THEY FOUND NOTHING DURING TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSTICS IN OCTOBER OF 2017 I STARTED EXPERIENCING THE JERKING PROBLEM AGAIN EXCEPT THIS TIME IT WAS DURING MY FIRST MORNING START UP AND ACCELERATING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AND WOULD GET A SUBSTANTIAL JERK. AGAIN TECHNICIAN FOUND NOTHING. PROBLEM CONTINUED ON MORNING START UPS AND DECIDED TO TAKE BACK INTO THE FORD DEALER A 3RD TIME FOR DIAGNOSTICS WITH WARMER WEATHER NOW, JUNE 12, 2019, THIS TIME THE SERVICE MANAGER EXPERIENCED THE JERK AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF THE CAR SITTING AFTER SERVICING THE EXPLORER FOR OTHER RECALL NOTICES. PARKED CAR OVERNIGHT AND WHEN THE TRANSMISSION TECHNICIAN STARTED THE CAR IN THE MORNING AND ACCELERATED, HE EXPERIENCE THE SAME JERK BETWEEN GEARS. FINALLY SOMEONE BELIEVES I AM HAVING A PROBLEM!! FORD DEALER TRANSMISSION TECHNICIAN PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS AGAIN AND STILL NOTHING FOUND. FORD DEALER DECIDED TO CHECK TROUBLE SHOOTING BOARD FROM FORD SERVICE BULLETINS AND FOUND INFORMATION IDENTIFYING THE CONDITION CAUSE WHICH ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION WILL FOLLOW.*DT CONSUMER STATED TRANSMISSON PROBLEM WILL NOT GO AWAY AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 59,438.*JB
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A OIL CHANGE AND MY DEALER CALLED TO INFORM ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL MY TIRES AS THE TREADS WERE ALL IN THE UNSAFE AREA. THE TIRES ARE: HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBEL 2 SIZE 255/50R20 DOT 5MNC 1A H 1316 THESE TIRES HAVE 23,000 MILES ON THEM AND CAME OEM ON 2017 FORD EXPLORER. THE TIRE TREAD IS GONE. PREMATURE WEAR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS OTHERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM ON THE SAME VEHICLE. SEE FORD BULLITON SSM 46905
"A" pillar window trim fails to remain affixed to the vehicle. After just a year of new vehicle ownership, on at least 15 different occasions, my passenger side "A" window trim or driver's side window trim would fly off while in travel. This usually occurs on the highway at any speeds exceeding 40 mph. I feel that this creates a safety issue and a financial burden as the piece and sometimes the mounting bracket have to be purchased at each incident. The safety issues are a somewhat large part of the vehicle separates and goes flying into any following traffic. The separation from the vehicle is usually a noisy and distracting affair for the operator/driver. Further, following traffic has to avoid the now airborne part. An additional safety concern is the missing part exposes the edges of the windshield, possibly affecting the integrity of the windshield, not to mention little protection from rain, water or snow. Lastly, the missing part creates a very unsightly vehicle. Attached are pictures of my vehicle without the part and my 2023-2022 eBay purchases. The document shows 6 replacements/purchases in just over a one year period. I have purchased both very expensive OEM parts and after market parts, with the same unfortunate results. I am not an engineer, but it appears that poor design allows 45+ mph wind to get under the trim, forcing it away and off the windshield pillar. Please, consult with any 2011-2019 Ford Explorer owner and I'm sure they have a similar story. I make a habit of looking at other Ford Explorers on the road and at least half the affected years vehicles are missing the windshield trim. I'm not one that complains frequently, but this is ridiculous and potentially dangerous.

EXHAUST SMELL IN PASSENGER CABIN LIGHT HEADED, NAUSEA, FLARED UP MY MIGRAINES. COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE ON BEHALF OF DEALERSHIP TO SELL ME VEHICLE AND NOT SHARE INFORMATION REGARDING THIS HEALTH CONCERN. IN ADDITION, THEY MENTION THE 'RECALL' AND FAIL TO ADDRESS IT. I BRING IT BACK, THEY FAILED TO FIX AGAIN AND NEVER TOLD ME. IT WASN'T UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH LATER...GETTING HEADACHES AND NAUSEA I CALLED JUST TO CONFIRM THE RECALL WAS ADDRESSED, ONLY TO LEARN THEY NEVER FIXED IT BECAUSE THEY NEEDED A PART. AFTER FLIPPING OUT ON THE SERVICE MANAGER AND GENERAL MANAGER...THEY SAID IT'S A 'A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ACTION' ITEM...NOT A RECALL! BUT YET LICCARDI FORD INWATCHING NJ HORRIBLE!!! HOW COULD THEY BE SOOO NEGLIGENT! EVEN AS MUCH AS TO SAY IT'S BEEN NOTICED OR OBSERVED MORE IN POLICE EXPLORERS, BUT BE AWARE OF A PREEXISTING CONCERN! INSTEAD...NEGLIGENCE THAT LED TO ME GETTING NAUSEOUS AND SMELLING IT ON MY OWN TO CALL THEM AND FIND OUT THEY NEVER FIXED IT!!
MAKING A LEFT TURN IN THE SNOW AND MY POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AND I HIT THE CURB, THR DEALER IS TELLING ME THERE'S NO WAY THIS CAN HAPPEN AND HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. WON'T WARRANTY ANYTHING AND I'M STUCK WITH A VEHICLE I BELIEVE TO BE UNSAFE FOR MY WIFE AND CHILDREN TO RIDE IN.
SINCE THE DAY WE LEASED THIS VEHICLE, I ALWAYS FEEL A BIT GROGGY AND NAUSEOUS WHEN RIDING IN THE VEHICLE. NO SPECIFIC DATE TO ATTACH TO THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT BECAME DROWSY AND PASSED OUT. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DITCH AND A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE DITCH AND DRIVEN AWAY. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
I AM CURRENTLY PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT. DIZZY, JUST VOMITED, BLURRY VISION. I AM STANDING BESIDE MY VEHICLE TO GET FRESH AIR. I HAVE BEEN IN MY VEHICLE FOR 3 HOURS DRIVING AND STARTED GETTING A HEADACHE THEN IT GOT WORSE. I REMEMBERED THE NEWS ABOUT CARBON MONOXIDE AND I'M SCARED TO GET BACK IN MY VEHICLE. I AM STARTING TO FEEL BETTER WITH FRESH AIR. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE HAS A LEAK.

IT HAPPENS MORE AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITH THE AIR ON RECIRCULATE. THE LAT TIME I PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALER I WAS TOLD TO NOT PUT IT ON RECIRCULATE WHICH IS NOT UP TO MY STANDARD AS I PAID $30K FOR THE VEHICLE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE IT AS I WANT. I HAVE A THREE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND IT IS PRIMARILY DRIVEN BY MY WIFE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WOULD LIKE A NEW VEHICLE AT THIS POINT. THEY TOLD ME THEY CANNOT TEST THIS AS THEY DO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THEIR PARKING LOT.
WENT TO DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND DEALER INDICATED I NEED IMMEDIATE TIRE REPLACEMENT OF ALL 4 TIRES BECAUSE THE TREAD IS FLAKING OFF! THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE SERVICE BAY DRIVE. THERE ARE VISIBLE SIGNS OF TREAD SEPARATIONS AND GOUGES IN THE TIRES. MY EXPLORER HAS 28K MILES ON IT AND THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY SAYS 50K. I BELIEVE THIS IS A TIRE DEFECT. I HAVE AN EXCELLENT SERVICE RECORD ON MY VEHICLE AND THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR FOR ANY TIRES. THIS EXPLORER WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALER WITH THESE TIRES. I WAS A PREVIOUS OWNER OF A 2013 EXPLORER (ALSO PURCHASED NEW) AND THE TIRES LASTED 60K. AFTER RESEARCHING, THERE SEEM TO BE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FROM FORD EXPLORER OWNERS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.
NOXIOUS EXHAUST FUMES ARE POURING INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE WHENEVER THE HEAT OR A/C IS RUNNING AND ARE PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. NOXIOUS FUMES ARE DETECTABLE BY HUMAN SENSE OF SMELL, AND THE NOXIOUS FUMES INCREASE IN VOLUME AS THE VEHICLE INCREASES IN SPEED.

VEHICLE IS TWO MONTHS OLD. SINCE PICKUP VEHICLE HAS HAD A SMELL OF ROTTEN EGGS. MORE RECENTLY, I'VE BEEN GETTING A REVERB SOUND (LIKE ONE WINDOW IS CRACKED) WHICH I CAN FEEL IS DUE TO A POOR SEAL ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. WHEN IT WAS VERY COLD HERE WITH 40MPH WINDS I ACTUALLY FELT WIND COME IN THE DOOR-SEAL. WHILE THE ROTTEN EGG SMELL SUBSIDED, I GET AN EXHAUST FUME SMELL WHEN PARKED NEAR BUILDING REAR-WAYS IN, SUCH AS WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AND IT WAS REVERSED AGAINST STEPS. THE SMELL OF THE EXHAUST FUMES FILLS THE CABIN CAUSING A HEADACHE AND HAVING TO CRACK THE WINDOWS TO AVOID THE SMELL. I'VE BEEN AVOIDING DRIVING THE CAR, WILL BE CALLING FORD SOON TO CHECK FOR A FIX FOR THIS. BRAND NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER SPORT AND EXHAUST FUMES FILLING THE CABIN, EVEN WITH CIRCULATION SELECTED, SO IT SHOULDN'T BE BRINGING OUTSIDE AIR IN. FURTHER A POOR SEAL / FITMENT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, POSSIBLY ADDING TO THIS ISSUE?
SCOTT PETERSON MOTORS OF STURGIS COMPLETED THE 17N03 SERVICE ON THIS VEHICLE IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM OF EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN. HOWEVER THE INTERMITTENT EXHAUST ODOR IS STILL PRESENT. ALSO TURNED ON A CO METER AND GOT A READING OF 114 PPM OF CO WHILE DRIVING. SURPRISING THAT WE GOT SUCH A HIGH READING AT A TIME WHEN WE DID NOT SMELL THE EXHAUST ODOR AT THAT TIME. WIFE STILL HAS A HEADACHE ALL DAY LONG AFTER GETTING THE INTERMITTENT EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN DURING DRIVING IN TOWN.
RE:HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 255/50R20 105H-ON 01/20/18, I WAS ADVISED BY A NEW FRIEND TO HAVE MY TIRES CHECKED OUT. HE NOTICED THE PIECES OF TIRE CHIPPING OFF AND WAS CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, I TOOK MY CAR TO OLIN MOTT, A LONGTIME & REPUTABLE AREA TIRE STORE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT ALL 4 TIRES WERE SHOWING SIGNS OF "PEELING" & RECOMMENDED THAT I TAKE MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD FIRST PURCHASED IT. ON 01/26/18 I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOKED AT. THE DEALERSHIP CAME BACK & SAID THAT THEY'D HAVE TO FILE A COMPLAINT W/ THE TIRE MANUFACTURER & THEY'D TAKE PICTURES OF ALL 4 TIRES & WOULD LET ME KNOW WHAT THE TIRE MANUFACTURER SAID NEEDED TO BE DONE. 6 DAYS LATER, THE DEALERSHIP CALLS STATING THAT HANKOOK TIRES ADVISED THAT ALL 4 TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED & THAT THE'DD OFFER A 50% PRORATA PRICE BASIS. MY VEHICLE MANUFACTURE STICKER DATE IS 04/17. I PURCHASED MY CAR ON JUNE 14, 2017 BRAND NEW. LESS THAN 8 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES. BC AFTER PAYING $40,000 LESS THAN A YEAR AGO, I HAVE TO SAVE THE MONEY. THIS TIRE HAS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE USA. FORD WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY EVEN THOUGH THEY CONTRACTED W/ HANKOOK TIRES IN 2011 FOR HANKOOK TO BE THE OFFICIAL FITMENT TIRE FOR THE FORD EXPLORER. ALSO, FORD/LINCOLN EXTENDED THEIR CONTRACT RECENTLY. OTHER BRANDS SUCH AS HYAUNDI HAVE RECENTLY CANCELLED THEIR PARTNERSHIP W/ HANKOOK. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED TOO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE, MY BIGGEST ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH WHAT I THOUGHT I WAS HAVING A "FALLING ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL" ISSUE. THERE WERE A FEW TIMES LAST WINTER, AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT STATIONARY AND WARM UP , THAT I COULDN'T "STAY AWAKE" WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY. IT HAPPENED ONCE, TWICE, THEN CONTINUED, AND IT BECAME APPARENT IT WAS THE VEHICLE, NOT ME, THAT WAS CAUSING THIS. IT CAN BE BEST DESCRIBED AS THE SENSATION RIGHT BEFORE BEING PUT UNDER FOR A MEDICAL PROCEDURE. I WOULD THEN COME OUT OF THIS UNCONCIOUS STATE IN POTENTLALLY DEADLY DRIVING SITUATIONS. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MY DOG WAS BEING AFFECTED AT THE SAME TIME. I COULD SEE HIM GETTING ANXIOUS NEXT TO ME, AND THEN HAVE WHAT LOOKED LIKE A PANIC ATTACK UNTIL I PUT THE WINDOW DOWN. HE WOULD KEEP HIS HEAD OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE FOR A MAJORITY OF THE RIDE. I BASICALLY STOPPED USING THE HEATER. AT THE SAME TIME, THE BATTERY KEPT DYING, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN AND GO INTO A "BATTERY SAFE" MODE, AND IT NEEDED TO BE JUMPED EVERY OTHER TRIP. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THEY BASICALLY SAID THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS, AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY GOT IN. I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM. THIS IS MY 3RD AND LAST LEASE WITH FORD, MY PREVIOUS 2 EDGES BOTH HAD NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES, INCLUDING LOOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING. NOW, I'M IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, AND THEY WON'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. I WANT OUT OF MY LEASE, BUT IN MY EXPERIENCE WITH FORD, THE CONSUMER LOOSES EVERY TIME. THERE'S EXHAUST FUME IN THE CABIN MY WIFE HAS SUFFERED SEVERE HEADACHE AFTER 60 MINS OF DRIVING INCLUDED MY 20MONTHS OLD BABY. MY CAR HAS ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED ONCE AND IS IN THE SHOP AGAIN BECAUSE I LEFT A CO2 SENORS IN BACK SEAT AND HAS GONE OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. FORD IS NOT BEING VERY HELPFUL BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THE CAR ANYMORE. IT IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND I DON'T WANT MY WIFE AND TODDLER IN THE VEHICLE AT ALL.
THERE IS A SMELL OF EXHAUST IN THE CABIN AT TIMES DRIVING. WHEN THE SMELL IS PRESENT I GET A SEVERE HEADACHE AND FEEL SICK TO MY STOMACH. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I WENT TO THE DEALER TO REPORT THE EXHAUST SMELL AND THEY IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT IN LIKE THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING. THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I RECEIVED A RENTAL CAR AND HAD IT FOR 4 DAYS. RECEIVE CALL TO PICK UP MY SUV. THE REPAIR ORDER SAID THEY REPLACED THE LIFT GATE WEATHER STRIPPING AND A FEW OTHER THINGS. I DROVE IT HOME AND THE EXHAUST SMELL WAS STILL PRESENT. I CALLED AND MADE ANOTHER SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR TODAY, 1/29/18.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK AND FORTH TO SAWGRASS FORD AS THERE IS A BAD SMELL OF SULPHUR/ROTTEN EGGS. DEALER CONDUCTED VOLUNTARY RECALL. HAVE BEEN BACK SEVERAL TIMES SINCE JANUARY 2018 WITH SAME ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE IS MAKING ME SICK!

WE DID THE VIDEO ON IT AND TRYING TO SHOW PROOF BECAUSE FORD MANAGER AT THE SERVICE DOESN'T BELIEVE ME AT ALL!!! WE TOOK OUR 2017 FORD EXPLORER TO SERVICE 5X THIS MONTH OF JUNE! WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING ACCELERATED, A STRONG ODOR OF SULFUR OR "ROTTEN EGGS" CONSUMES THE CABIN OF THE SUV. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN THE AIR SYSTEM IS IN ALL MODES, INCLUDING WHEN TURNED OFF. IT IS APPARENT THAT EXHAUST FUMES ARE ENTERING THE CABIN WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND ENDANGERING ALL PASSENGERS. THE VEHICLE HAS SPENT TWO WEEKS AT A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS ON THIS ISSUE (REPROGRAMMED CLIMATE CONTROL, REAR SEAL CORRECTED) HOWEVER THE PROBLEM REMAINS AND HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED. HEALTH CONCERNS HAVE BEEN ENDURED WITH DRIVER AND PASSENGERS DUE TO TOXICITY OF EXHAUST FUMES.

WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS (25 TO 40 MPH) THE STEERING WILL FEEL LIKE IT IS "BINDING UP" SLIGHTLY WHEN TURNING. THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME SO THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE IT. ALSO AFTER DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN A STRAIGHT LINE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL SLIGHTLY I WILL FEEL THAT SAME BINDING. IF YOU PUSH THROUGH IF IT GIVES WAY AND THEN ACTS NORMALLY. FEELS LIKE THE CARS STEERING GEAR BOX HAS A GEAR LOOSE OR A GEAR IN MISS ALIGNING INTERNALLY. WE BOUGHT THE CARE WITH 15K MILES ON IT. WE NOTICED THE PROBLEM AT AROUND 20K AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR NOW HAS 30K MILES ON IT AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORST.
INTERMITTENT STEERING BINDING CONDITION AT SLOW TURNS MAINLY DURING HOT WEATHER. THIS BINDING ISSUE WAS DIFFICULT TO RECREATE AND EVENTUALLY THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO CREATE THIS AFTER A LENGTHY (30 MINUTE) ROAD TEST IN 80+ DEGREE WEATHER. THE BINDING ISSUE WAS A RESULT OF AN INTERNAL STEERING GEAR FAILURE. THE PART # HB5Z-3504-Z WAS FINALLY REPLACED THIS YEAR AFTER WE HAD THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE LATE 2017 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE NOW HAS 67,000 MILES. THE BINDING ISSUE OCCURRED AT SPEEDS RANGING MAINLY BETWEEN 40 MPH TO 75 MPH WITH AND WITHOUT DRIVING ASSISTANCE FEATURES ENABLED. BINDING ISSUE OCCURRED BOTH TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT DIRECTIONS ON GRADUAL TURNS OR WHEN CHANGING LANES ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD STICK IN THE TURNED POSITION AND NOT RETURN TO THE CENTER ON ITS OWN UNLESS TUGGED OUT OF WHAT FELT LIKE A DETENT (NOTCH). THIS TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT WORK ON THE CAR SINCE THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM ON SHORT TEST DRIVES. THE INTERMITTENT NATURE OF THE STEERING ISSUE AND NEED FOR LONGER DRIVES AND HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS MADE IT DIFFICULT TO RECREATE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
FORD RECALL. I STARTED FEELING FATIGUED, NAUSEOUS AND GETTING HEADACHES OVER THE PAST WEEK AFTER DRIVING TO AND FROM WORK. I DROVE HOME FROM WORK ON 12/6/2017 AT NIGHT AND WAS STRUGGLING TO KEEP MY EYES OPEN AND GOT SICK. MY WIFE SAID SHE SMELLED A CHEMICAL TYPE SMELL IN THE CAR. WE DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT FORD ACKNOWLEDGED SOME EXPLORERS HAVE AN ISSUE WHERE THE EXHAUST FUMES GET BACK INTO THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS CONFIRMED TO HAVE THE PROBLEM AND THEY FIXED IT.
MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON ICY ROADS ON DECEMBER 5. SHE WAS DRIVING OUR 2017 FORD EXPLORER WHICH WE HAD PURCHASED ON MAY 31, 2017. SHE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT ON A COUNTRY HIGHWAY AND HEADED NORTH. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND SHE HAD JUST GOTTEN THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WHEN A VEHICLE THAT WAS HEADING SOUTH, LOST CONTROL AND HIT HER HEAD-ON. THE ATTACHED PICTURE SHOWS THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE SUSTAINED ON THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. BEYOND THIS DAMAGE, THE IMPACT WAS STRONG ENOUGH THAT A MOTOR MOUNT MOUNTING PIN WAS SHEARED CLEAN OFF THE MOTOR AS WAS THE COVER ON THE TIMING BELT. THE REBAR IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR WAS SNAPPED COMPLETELY IN HALF. ALL THIS DAMAGE...AND THE AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS SUFFICIENT DAMAGE THAT THIS $50,000+ VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS. I'VE CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN SIOUX FALLS, SD WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. AS SOON AS I MENTIONED AIRBAGS, THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT ADDRESS OR COMMENT ON ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS I RAISED ABOUT THE VEHICLE SAFETY FEATURES. I'VE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY DIRECT. SAME STORY. AS SOON AS THE SUBJECT OF AIRBAGS WAS LOCKED FIRMLY IN THE MIND OF THE LADY I WAS TALKING WITH, SHE PROCEEDED WITH ABOUT TEN MINUTES OF QUESTIONS. AFTER SPENDING PROBABLY 20 MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH THIS LADY, ALL I GOT WAS, "YOU NOW HAVE A CASE NUMBER IN OUR SYSTEM." WHEN I ASKED ABOUT GETTING ANY FOLLOWUP CORRESPONDENCE, I WAS TOLD, "ALL FUTURE CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE BETWEEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY." AND, I'VE HEARD NOTHING SINCE. BECAUSE MY WIFE WAS NOT AT FAULT IN THIS ACCIDENT, WE ARE DEALING WITH THE OTHER DRIVER'S INSURANCE COMPANY (FARM BUREAU) AND GETTING TREATED LIKE WE WERE THE PERPETRATORS INSTEAD OF THE VICTIMS.
