AFTER A SCARY LONG DRIVE FROM INDIANA TO NORTH CAROLINA I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT LETTING THEM KNOW THAT I COULD SMELL EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING AND I FELT OVERLY TIRED, WAY MORE TIRED THEN NEED BE. AFTER TESTING IT WAS DETERMINED THAT CO WAS COMING INTO THE CABIN OF MY VEHICLE. THEY STILL HAVE MY VEHICLE NOW AFTER 2 WEEKS AND THE PARTS THAT WERE ORDERED WERE BODY FILLER AND ELECTRICAL TAPE. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE THE APPROPRIATE FIX FOR THIS SITUATION THAT COULD CAUSE CATASTROPHIC INJURY OR DEATH AND NOW I AM SCARED TO PUT MY AND MY FAMILIES LIVES IN DANGER DUE TO MY VEHICLE TRYING TO KILL US. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE INTERSTATE AS SPEEDS OF 50-75 MPH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND IF I WOULD NOT HAVE STOPPED SO MANY TIMES I WOULD HAVE PASSED OUT AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHICH COULD HAVE KILLED ME OR SOMEONE ELSE. I WAS ADVISED THAT IF I WAS GOING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE I SHOULD DO SO WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN, WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND WHY I HAVE HAD A LOANER CAR FOR WEEKS.
HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE2 TIRES HAVE LARGE CHUNKS COMING OFF THE TREAD AT 9,300 MILES (REPORTED TO DEALER); CONDITION GOT WORSE AT 12,000MILES (REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN); CONDITION CONTINUES TO GET WORSE AT 14,000 MILES (CAR LEFT AT DEALERSHIP FOR TIRES TO BE SENT TO HANKOOK)
FUMES ENTER CAR WILE DRIVING!
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW ON 8/11/2017 (19 MILES)AND WE STARTED NOTICING A SMELL OF EXHAUST WHEN WE ACCELERATED AND WHEN WE HAD THE REAR A/C ON COMING IN THE CABIN. WE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP FROM SEPT 25, 2017 TO OCT 6,2017 (1496 MILES). THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WHEN WE PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON OCT 6, 2017. WE BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS HEALTH CONCERN AS WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING HEADACHES, ESPECIALLY MY WIFE, WHO IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER. WE WILL NOT LET OUR GRANDCHILDREN RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE WITH THE EXHAUST FUMES PRESENT. WE ARE AWARE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2012. AS THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE,WITH 1496 MILES, WE FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT GOING TO GO AWAY ANYTIME SOON. WE DO NOT WANT HAVE TO KEEP TAKING THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR TEMPORARY FIXES (TSB). WE WANT A PERMANENT FIX, IF THAT INCLUDES GETTING A NEW ONE.
GAS ODOR LEAK INSIDE THE CAR WHILE DRIVING THAT CAUSED ME TO HAVE SXS OF DIZZINESS, NAUSEA AND VOMITING. IT HAPPENED IN MULTIPLE OCCASIONS.
MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER XLT HAS EXHAUST SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT A NEW CAR SMELL BUT RATHER EXHAUST ODOR AND ONLY IS APPARENT WHEN THE AC SYSTEM OR FAN SYSTEM IS IN THE ON POSITION. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON JUNE 13, 2017 AND WAS HOSPITALIZED ON JULY 1, 2017 FOR THREE DAYS. THE DOCTORS WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS ALTHOUGH I WAS EXPERIENCING HEADACHES, DIZZINESS AND TROUBLE WITH MY VISION. EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY EXPLORER AND TURN THE AC OR FANS ON I NOTICE A EXHAUST ODOR. I DEVELOP A HEADACHE, DIZZINESS FEEL SICK. I CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR A POSSIBLE CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK OR OTHER ISSUE THAT MAYBE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. FORD ALSO STATED THAT THE PROBLEMS WERE ONLY ON THE POLICE INTERCEPTOR VEHICLES EVEN THOUGH ALL EXPLORERES COME OFF SAME PRODUCTION LINE. NOTE: I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS. THE NEW CAR SMELL IS GONE AND THERE IS NO ODOR WITH THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS NOT IN THE ON POSITION. THE TOXIC ODOR IS ONLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE VENTS/AC/FANS ARE RUNNING.
THE EXPLORER IS EXPERIENCING CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKS. THE FURTHER BACK YOU SIT IN THE SUV THE MORE YOU ARE EXPOSED TO THE CARBON MONOXIDE. WE PURCHASED A DETECTOR AND AFTER ONLY 10 MINUTES ON THE INTERSTATE THE LEVEL WAS 15PPM. AT 10PPM IT STARTS AFFECTING INFANTS AND WE HAVE A 11MONTH OLD
OCCASIONALLY WHEN I DROVE THE CAR I FELT LIGHT HEADEDNESS AND DIZINIESS. ON 8/3/2017 I FELT THE DIZZINESS AGAIN AND ENDED UP IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I FELT AS THOUGH I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT AND IN A FLASH I CRASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME.
EXHAUST ODOR APPEARS WITHIN CABIN AFTER EXCESSIVE ACCELERATION ONTO HIGHWAY
SMELLED GASOLINE IN CABIN AFTER DRIVING CAR FOR 2 MILES IN MORNING. AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON, TEMP WAS APPROX 75 DEGREES. CONTACTED DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT SOMETIMES WITH NEW CARS IT IS THE RESULT OF THE COATING ON THE NEW PARTS. CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW YESTERDAY, BUT HAD 187 MIES ON IT. (PER DEALER, IT MAY HAVE BEEN A SWAP FROM ANOTHER DEALER AND THE MILES CAME FROM TRANSPORT). MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR 8/16 (NEXT AVAILABLE), BUT SERVICE REP HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY ISSUES OF THIS SORT.
HEADACHES POSSIBLE BEING CAUSED FROM FLUMES ENTERING THE DRIVING CABIN. POSSIBLE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.
EXHAUST SMELL COMES INTO THE CABIN WHEN CAR IS ACCELERATING. SEEMS WORST WHEN THE AC IS IN RE-CIRCULATION MODE. YOU CAN SMELL THE EXHAUST FUMES RIGHT AFTER THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION HAS DOWNSHIFTED TO ACCELERATE.
MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER XLT WITH BASE 3.5 V6 HAS BEEN HARD TO START FROM THE FIRST WEEK OF OWNERSHIP. IT HAS LESS THAN 5000 MILES ON IT NOW AND ISN'T FIXED. FORD DEALERSHIP STATED IT WOULD HAVE TO GET WORSE BEFORE THEY COULD FIX IT. VEHICLE SHOWS NO DTC'S OR ANY HISTORY! MY WIFE HAS REFUSED TO DRIVE IT OUT OF TOWN DUE TO THE FEAR OF IT NOT STARTING AT ALL. WE HAVE RECORDED OVER 30 VIDEOS OF IT NOT STARTING AND HAVE SENT VIDEOS TO FORD MOTOR CO. WITH THE SAME RESPONSE, CANT FIX IT IF IT ISN'T BROKE. APPARENTLY IT WILL HAVE TO EITHER BREAK SOMETHING INTERNALLY AND LEAVE MY WIFE AND CHILD STRANDED, BEFORE IT WILL BE DIAGNOSED. IT IS A $40000 LEMON THAT TAKES 3-4 TIMES ATTEMPTING TO START BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL RUN. THIS WEEKEND IT TOOK AT LEAST 30-40 SECONDS BEFORE VEHICLE STARTED, THEN IT WOULD NOT IDLE CORRECTLY! STILL NO DTC'S! VEHICLE DOES THIS NO MATTER THE LENGTH OF TIME ENGINE HAS RUN OR LEVEL OF FUEL? IT DOES IT DURING REMOTE START OR THE PUSH BUTTON. IT DOES AT TIMES HAVE A STRONG ODOR OF GAS AFTER START-UP, ALMOST AS IF IT WAS FLOODED? AS A PERSON IN THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR WORLD, THE ABSENCE OF CONCERN FROM FORD IS SHOCKING! SO INSTEAD OF TRYING TO CORRECT A ISSUE BEFORE IT BECOMES A DANGER, THEY WOULD RATHER IT BECOME DANGEROUS AND THEN REPAIR IT? IF IT IS A FUEL RELATED ISSUE, THEN THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THE VEHICLE IS GETTING WORSE, BUT AS SAID EARLIER, IT WILL HAVE TO COMPLETELY NOT START BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. FORD MOTOR CO HAS NOT BEEN VERY HELPFUL, AND NOW I AM PROUD OWNER OF VEHICLE THAT WILL NOT START CORRECTLY.
CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKING THROUGH THE AC VENTS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH AND ACCELERATING, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL EXHAUST ODOR SEEPING INTO THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (ENNIS FORD, INC, 900 N INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 45, ENNIS, TX 75119, (972) 875-90670) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VENTS NEAR THE REAR WHEEL HOUSING NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HOLES IN THE VEHICLE WERE TAPED AND A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR WAS INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS15355086. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A TERRIBLE EXHAUST ODOR THAT ENTERS THE CAB OF MY CAR UPON ACCELERATION.
FORD EXPLORER SPORT 2017 SMELLS OF EXHAUST GAS IN THE DRIVER CABIN. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN MARCH 5, 2017 AND TOOK IT TO DEALER 3/9/17 TO COMPLAIN ABOUT EXHAUST FUMES SMELL WHEN I DROVE ON THE FREEWAY. THEY TOLD ME THEY TESTED IT AND COULD NOT SMELL ANYTHING. THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED AND IT HAPPENS ESPECIALLY WHEN I DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY. IN JUNE A WAS GOING TO DRIVE MY CAR FROM LA TO NEW JERSEY. AFTER THREE DAYS OF DRIVING I HAD TO TURN BACK TO LA BECAUSE I GOT DIZZY AND FELT NAUSEOUS EVERY DAY AFTER DRIVING 6 TO 8 HOURS. I SAW LAST NIGHT ON THE NEWS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH EXHAUST FUMES AND CARBON MONOXIDE AND THAT MADE ME REALIZE THAT I AM AFFECTED BY THAT. I CALLED FORDS HOTLINE EARLIER TODAY. THEY SAID THAT THERE IS A FIX BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME THAT APPARENTLY THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE 2017 YET AND I GOT THE ADVISE TO BE CAREFULL AND DRIVE WITH MY WINDOW DOWN. THAT IS NOT THE SOLOUTING YOU WANT AFTER PAYING 55G AND HAVING ONLY 3500MILLES ON THE ODOMETER!
MY EXPLORER HAS THE STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES THAT COME INTO THE CABIN WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. IT IS MAKING THE PASSENGERS FEEL SICK AND GETTING HEADACHES. IT IS PRESENTLY AT EARNHARDT FORD BEING LOOKED AT.
I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER AND A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK. I HAVE OVERALL FEELING BAD SINCE WE GOT OUR NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER, WHICH IS VERY OUT OF CHARACTER FOR ME. LIKE MANY, WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE I AM GETTING NAUSEA, WEAKNESS, AND TENSION HEADACHES FROM DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN VERY WEAK AND HAVING HEADACHES, AS OF LATE. THIS HAS HAD A MAJOR IMPACT ON MY DAY-TO-DAY LIFE. I COULDN'T EXPLAIN WHY OR WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH ME IT SEEMED AS IF IT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. I AM STARTING TO THINK MAYBE I HAVE LONG TERM EXPOSURE TO CARBON MONOXIDE OVER THE LAST 3 WEEKS. I GOT THE FORD EXPLORE 3 WEEKS AGO AND THIS SUDDEN SICKNESS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THEN. I GOT SO WORRIED WITH MY HEALTH"I WENT TO THE DOCTOR. I EXPLAINED TO THE DOCTOR "I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT'S GOING ON WITH ME BUT I FEEL ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE HAD A FLU FOR ALMOST A MONTH". I WAS DESPERATE AND I KNOW I SOUNDED CRAZY BUT I HAVE BEEN HAVING SOME SERIOUS BOUTS WITH WEAKNESS, FATIGUE, AND HEADACHES. I WENT TO THE DOCTOR ON JULY 31ST 2017 AND I REALLY HAVE BEEN BAFFLED BY THE SUDDEN ONSET OF SYMPTOMS. THIS WAS BEFORE I KNEW ABOUT THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO THE 2017 FORD EXPLORER. I SAW THE STORY RUN TODAY (8-3-17) ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA AND I STARTED TO PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER. AT THE DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT ON (7-31-17) THEY PULLED BLOOD, AND ARE CONDUCTING A BUNCH OF TEST BUT NOTHING HAS COME BACK. I AM CONCERNED, I AM HOPING IT'S NOT RELATED TO THE CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK THAT OTHERS ARE REPORTING. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS FOR MY PREGNANT WIFE AND UNBORN CHILD. AS A PURPLE HEART VET I HAVE PUT MY HEART AND SOUL INTO OUR GREAT COUNTRY AND I NEED THIS AGENCY TO PLEASE FIND ANSWERS TO IF THESE SUVS ARE SAFE. MY FAMILIES COULD DEPEND ON IT THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE I SUFFER FROM BURNING EYES, HEADACHE, NASEA, FEELING ILL, VEHICLE WAS AT DEALER FOR CO2 LEAK, VEHICLE WAS OUT OF SERVICE FOR APPROXIMATELY 60 DAYS, I PICKED IT UP, DROVE HOME APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES AND BECAME ILL, SAME AS BEFORE IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED. I RETURNED IT TO DEALER THE SAME DAY SO THEY CAN TRY TO FIGURE WHY REPAIR DIDN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD A DISTRICT TECHNICIAN WOULD NEED TO COME INSPECT THE VEHICLE, THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE FIRST DAY WE DROVE IT HOME FROM THE DEALER. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 3,000 MILES ON IT. THIS REPAIR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE "RECALL REPAIR" FOR CO2 LEAKING INTO VEHICLE, THIS REPAIR DID NOT RESOLVE MY ISSUE, SO NOT SURE IF FORD REALLY HAS THIS FIGURED OUT YET.
FOR 2 YEARS PASSENGERS WERE GETTING PHYSICALLY ILL WHEN RIDING IN VEHICLE. KNOWN ISSUE WITH CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK WAS BROUGHT TO FORD'S ATTENTION IN 2018. CAR WAS REPAIRED WITH FORD'S PRESCRIBED FIX OPTIONS. CONTINUED ILLNESS PROMPTED LOCAL FORD DEALER TO RUN THEIR OWN HVAC TEST FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IN THE CABIN. MULTIPLE LEAKS WERE NOTED BY THE FORD DEALER AND ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE FORD DEALER THEN BROUGHT IN AND INDEPENDENT HVAC COMPANY TO TEST FOR CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKS AFTER REPAIRS. THE REPORT INDICATED 12 PPM IN THE CABIN OF CARBON MONOXIDE. ANOTHER TEST WAS DONE ON ANOTHER 2015 FORD EXPLORER AS A BASELINE, AND READING REPORTED 0 PPM. FORD DEALER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO DISCUSS OPTIONS FOR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE INCIDENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE WAS STILL OCCURRING. WE REQUESTED FORD PURCHASE BACK THE VEHICLE AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AFTER HAVING MULTIPLE MEDICAL TESTS DONE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. FORD HAS OUR FILED COMPLAINT BUT AS OF NOW THERE IS NO RESOLUTION.
EXHAUST FUMES, AND CARBON MONOXIDE FILLING UP THE INTERIOR OF VEHICLE, SYMPTOMS OF COUGHING VIOLENTLY, EXASPERATION OF ASTHMA SYMPTOMS, LIGHTHEADED,NAUSEA, WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, WAITING AT A RED LIGHT CAR FILLS UP WITH EXHAUST FUMES. THESE CONDITION HAPPEN EVERYDAY
WE HEARD ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. CONCERNED IF IT COULD BE THE CAUSE OF OUR 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S COMPLAINTS OF HEADACHES WHEN IN THE VEHICLE.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE MARCH 2017. WE HAVE NOTICED THAT EACH TIME THE VEHICLE REQUIRES RAPID ACCELERATION, FOR EXAMPLE PASSING ANOTHER CAR ON A TWO-LANE ROAD, YOU WILL SMELL EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THESE FUMES ENTER THE CABIN VIA THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS AND WILL BE SO STRONG THAT ALL OCCUPANTS WILL DEVELOP DIFFICULTY BREATHING. DURING ROUTINE ACCELERATION, WE HAVE NOT DETECTED ANY FUMES, HOWEVER SOME OCCUPANTS HAVE DEVELOPED HEADACHES SIMULTANEOUSLY INTERMITTENTLY.
EXHAUST LEAK INTO CABIN OF VEHICLE, NOTICED ESPECIALLY ON ACCELERATION ON HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 55MPH AND WHEN DRIVING UP AND DOWN HILLS. HAD TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW TO GET SMELL OUT OF VEHICLE. CAUSING DRIVER TO GET HEADACHES, NAUSEA AND GET VERY DROWSY. TOOK VACATION FOR 1300 MILES TO VIRGINIA BEACH FROM ILLINOIS AND TRAVELLED THROUGH MOUNTAINS AND THIS DRIVER COULD ONLY DRIVE 2 HOURS BEFORE BECOMING VERY DROWSY. THIS DRIVER HAS BEEN DRIVING FOR 28 YEARS AND HAS NEVER EVER HAD THESE SYMPTOMS BEFORE WHILE DRIVING. THIS DRIVER IS NOT ON ANY MEDICATIONS THAT WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO BEING DROWSY, NOR DOES NOT HAVE ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS DRIVER TO BECOME DROWSY BEHIND THE WHEEL. THIS DRIVER BELIEVES THIS CAR 2017 FORD EXPLORER IS LEAKING EXHAUST INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE AIR VENTS EVEN THOUGH THIS DRIVER DOES NOT CIRCULATE THE INSIDE AIR ON THE A/C SYSTEM. THIS DRIVER ALWAYS HAS THE A/C SYSTEM ON BRINGING IN OUTSIDE AIR INTO THE CAR AND DOES NOT CLICK ON THE BUTTON THAT CIRCULATES THE AIR INSIDE THE CAR. THIS DRIVER NOW HAS TO HAVE THE WINDOW ROLLED DOWN IN THIS VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ANYTIME THIS DRIVER GETS INTO THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. THIS VEHICLE WAS FIRST NOTICED TO BE CAUSING DRIVER TO BECOME DROWSY ON 7/29/17 & 7/30/17 WHILE ON VACATION DRIVING TO VIRGINIA BEACH WITH DAUGHTER, FRIEND OF FAMILY AND HER SON. 8/2/17 & 8/3/17 DROVE BACK TO ILLINOIS AND DROWSY AGAIN AND HAD TO ROLL WINDOW DOWN. 8/30/17 TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY TESTED VEHICLE AND NOTICED AN EXHAUST LEAK. HAD TO ORDER PART FOR VEHICLE, APPT. MADE FOR 9/6/17 FOR VEHICLE TO GET REAR BUMPER REMOVED AND EXHAUST SYSTEM LOOKED AT. 9/13/17 RECEIVED THIS VEHICLE BACK FROM DEALER IN EVENING. NEXT DAY DROVE VEHICLE IN MORNING AND EXHAUST SMELL IN VEHICLE. CAR RETURNED TO DEALER 9/15/17 FOR DEALER TO FIX SAME PROBLEM FOR #2 DOCUMENTED VISIT TO DEALER.

MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES. I SAW THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION REPORT ON THE NEWS THIS MORNING AND WANTED TO ADD MY VEHICLE TO THE LIST OF COMPLAINTS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE AT 4:00 PM . I WAS TRAVELING IN THE SECOND TRAVEL LANE AT APPROX 68 MPH SURROUNDED BY LOTS OF TRAFFIC AND MANY LARGE SEMI TRAILER TRUCKS. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STARTED BEEPING AND WHEN I LOOKED AT THE DASH BOARD TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON, IT SAID" TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN PARK" WITHIN SECONDS I LOST ALL POWER. THE SCREEN WENT BLACK AND THE ENGINE HAD DIED . I HAD NO POWER WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL. AS MY CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE SAFELY BEFORE THE CAR CAME TO A STOP. I HAD MY DAUGHTER AND YOUNG GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE CAR ALSO. THANK GOOD WE WERE NOT HIT BY ANY CARS OR TRUCKS ON THE TURNPIKE. AFTER SHIFTING TO PARK WHEN THE CAR CAME TO A STOP, THE DASH SAID " STEP ON THE BREAK TO RESTART". LUCKILY THE CAR DID START SO THAT WE WERE NOT STRANDED ON THE TURNPIKE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS IMMEDIATELY
TWICE SINCE PURCHASING MY NEW EXPLORER I HAVE GOTTEN DEATHLY ILL WHILE DRIVING, HAD TO PULL OVER AND BE TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. I'M 70 YEARS OLD AND HAD THOUGHT IT WAS A MEDICAL ISSUE. HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN POKED AND PROBED FOR EVERY POSSIBLE ALIMENT AND ALL HAVE COME BACK NEGATIVE AND AM IN GREAT HEALTH. EVEN MY HEART TESTS WERE OUTSTANDING. I SAW THE EXPLORER STORIES ON THE NEWS, LOOKED UP CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AND NOTE THOSE WERE THE SYMPTOMS I HAD. IN THE INCIDENT LAST WEEK I WAS FEELING WORSE AND WORSE AS I DROVE AND WAS JUST ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD BEFORE I PASSED OUT, MY VISION HAD GONE BLANK, I STARTING SWEATING WITH THE AIR ON, AND I BECAME EXTREMELY DIZZY AND DISORIENTATED. I SPENT TWO DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL THINKING I WAS DYING BECAUSE THAT'S HOW I FELT. I'M IN EXCELLENT HEALTH, BIKE 20 MILES DAY 2-4 DAYS WEEK, PLAY LEAGUE HOCKEY, AVID GOLFER THAT HAS COMPETED AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL, ETC. POSSIBLE CARBON DIOXIDE LEAK. ON A RECENT LONG TRIP I HAD TROUBLE WITH HEADACHES AND LIGHTHEADED. IT BECAME WORSE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON. I GOT HOME AND WAS VERY SICK, I HAD MY NEIGHBOR DRIVE ME TO THE HOSPITAL. MY BLOOD PRESSURE WAS LOW, RED BLOOD CELLS LOW AND WAS SEVERELY LIGHTHEADED. THAT WAS JULY 19, BUT I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE EXHAUST FUME PROBLEMS UNTIL THE NEWS REPORTED IT ON JULY 28; SO A BLOOD TEST FOR CARBON DIOXIDE POISONING WAS NOT PERFORMED. I THINK THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OFF AND ON WITH ME DRIVING THIS CAR, BUT IN A MUCH MILDER FORM OF SYMPTOMS. I LOOKED UP THE SYMPTOMS FOR CARBON DIOXIDE POISONING AND I HAD MOST OF THEM. OUR SMALL CHILDREN WERE UNCLIPPING THEIR SEATBELTS AND STARTING TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN MY HUSBAND TOOK HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. WITH THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IGNITION OFF, IT ROLLED BACK VERY QUICKLY DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY TO OUR SMALL CHILDREN HAD THEY OPENED THEIR DOORS. I CALLED FORD.COM WHO TOLD ME TO CALL THE DEALER. I CALLED DEALER. THEY TOOK ONE OF THEIR 2017 EXPLORERS FROM THE LOT AND TRIED TO GET IT TO ROLL IN GEAR AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND THEIR VEHICLE ALSO DID IT. IN REVERSE AND IN DRIVE. THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO "MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT IN PARK BEFORE YOU TURN IT OFF." SOME ONE IS GOING TO DIE!!! EVEN IF I WOULD MAKE IT OUT BEFORE GETTING RUN OVER, MY BABY IN A CAR SEAT IN THE BACK OF THE CAR WOULD BE ROLLED INTO THE BUSY STREET WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS!! KILLING HER AND ANY ONCOMING CAR OR TRUCK!!! ALSO, THIS SAME EXPLORER- WITH ONLY 800 MILES ON IT, HAD ITS TRANSMISSION FALL OFF THE MOUNT AND LAND ON THE AXLE AND BROKE THE AXLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. HEARD BANGING SOUNDS, THEN THEY GOT LOUDER, THEN THE STEERING GOT HARD, THEN IT FELT LIKE IT WAS FALLING APART-ALL IN THE MATTER OF 1 MILE ON A CITY STREET GOING 25MPH. NOT SURE IF WE JUST GOT A LEMON HERE? PUT THE GEAR/ROLLING AFTER ENGINE OFF IF NOT IN PARK IS VERY, VERY SERIOUS AND NEEDS TO ME LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEONE DIES!!!!!!! I DON'T HAVE THE REPAIR SHEET TO SCAN BECAUSE A WEEK AFTER THE TRANMISSION/AXLE WERE REPAIRED, IT STARTED VIBRATING AND SWERVING WHEN I WAS BRAKING, SO IT'S BACK IN THE SHOP. WE'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS AND IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THAT TIME. THIS SPECIFIC MODEL IS THE 2017 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. FORD.COM WAS INFORMED OF THIS.

THE COMPLAINT IS A NOXIOUS ODOR WHICH FILLS THE VEHICLE DURING ITS OPERATION; AFTER NUMEROUS REPAIR ATTEMPTS BY FORD, THIS CONCERN HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER HAS OBSERVED THE INTERIOR HAS BECOME INUNDATED WITH A NOXIOUS, OVERWHELMING, AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ODOR OF GASOLINE, EXHAUST AND/OR FUMES. THE DRIVER HAS FELT ILL EFFECTS AFTER THIS OCCURRENCE AND IS CONCERNED ABOUT CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING OR OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS AS A RESULT. THIS ISSUE IS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS AND BECAUSE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN FOR ANY SUBSTANTIAL PERIOD OF TIME WITHOUT FILLING WITH THIS ODOR. THE ISSUE HAS MOST OFTEN BEEN OBSERVED WITH HIGHWAY DRIVING WHEN THE ENGINE IS UNDER LOAD, I.E. ACCELERATING. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE TIME OF PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST REPAIR ATTEMPT BY THE DEALER FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE WAS MADE IN JULY OF 2017. AT LEAST 4 REPAIR ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE SUBSEQUENTLY. THE ISSUE CONTINUES. THIS LAW FIRM HAS REQUESTED THAT FORD TAKE BACK THE VEHICLE AND REFUND THE CLIENT'S PURCHASE PRICE UNDER ARIZONA'S MOTOR VEHICLE WARRANTIES STATUTE.

EXPLORER WITH 2.3L ECOBOOST PRODUCES AN EXHAUST SMELL DURING MODERATE TO WOT THROTTLE RUNS. GENERALLY SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER LIFTING OFF THE THROTTLE AND RETURNING TO CRUISING THROTTLE POSITION. VEHICLE MUST BE VENTED TO PREVENT ILLNESS TO PASSENGERS, HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. OCCURS MORE OFTEN WHEN VEHICLE IS UNDER SIGNIFICANT LOAD (SUCH AS CLIMBING A GRADE).

THE FAILURE MAINLY OCCURRED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (JORDAN FORD IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS) BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT CARBON MONOXIDE WAS PRESENT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
OUR 2017 FORD EXPLORER SPORT HAS A CONSTANT FOUL SMELL AFTER ACCELERATION. THE SMELL OVERWHELMS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND IS SIMILAR TO A SULFUR OR BURNING HAIR SMELL. ADDITIONALLY, IF THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED IDLE FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME, UPON INITIAL ACCELERATION, A LARGE CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE COMES FROM THE TAILPIPES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION WITH A WALL DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STRUCK THE STEERING COLUMN BECAUSE THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN HER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THEN TO THE GORNO FORD DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM MODERATE CHEST PAIN FROM STRIKING THE STEERING COLUMN AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,694.
6/29/2017 THIS HAPPENED TO MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER BACK WINDOW YESTERDAY. NOTHING HIT IT WE WEREN'T ON THE FREEWAY. WE WERE AT A LIGHT AT A COMPLETE STAND STILL. THERE'S NO POINT OF IMPACT AND THE GLASS AND IT IS POPPED OUT NOT IN. THE GLASS COMPANY TOLD ME IT WAS CAUSED FROM THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. DEALERSHIP TOLD US THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT AND CLAIMED THAT IT COULD'VE BEEN A PEBBLE THAT HIT IT.
EVERY TIME IT'S PARKED FACING DOWN HILL AND IT RAINS THE SUNROOF/MOONROOF LEAKS. THE WATER COMES OUT OF THE UPPER CONSOLE ONCE YOU START DRIVING.
ENGINE EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN INTERMITTENTLY, GOING UP A HILL OR MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 3500 RPMS, AIR CONDITIONER IS ON AND RECIRCULATION MODE IS ON, SEEMS TO FAIL MORE IN HOTTER WEATHER. THIS 2017 MODEL IS A REPLACEMENT FROM FORD OF OUR 2015 FORD EXPLORER THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!
