ORIGINALLY FILED COMPLAINT 10883479 AND 10954630 ON A 2015 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED FOR EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN. AFTER SEVERAL TSB REPAIRS THE EXHAUST ODOR WAS STILL IN THE CABIN. ON JUNE 20, 2017, I PAID $4670.29 AND FORD REPLACED MY 2015 WITH A SIMILAR 2017 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED. ABOUT 12 MILES AFTER DRIVING MY NEW 2017 DOWN THE FREEWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THERE WAS EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN ON MY NEW EXPLORER. SO I FILED ANOTHER COMPLAINT 11010052, SEE DETAILS OF FAILURE MODE. THEREAFTER FORD DID PHASE 1 OF TSB 17-0044 ON ORDER 57558, AND AFTER FURTHER EXHAUST ODORS IN THE CABIN, FORD DID THE SECOND PHASE OF THE TSB ON ORDER 57730. I STILL HAVE EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN, THE ODOR IS NOT AS STRONG AND DOES NOT LAST AS LONG, BUT IT IS STILL THERE. FORD ADVISED THAT THERE IS ANOTHER REPAIR 17N03, BUT THIS APPEARS TO ALREADY TO HAVE BEEN DONE ON THE TSB 17-0044. THE DEALER, SCOTT PETERSON MOTORS OF STURGIS IN SD, HAS DONE ALL THAT THEY CAN DO SO FAR I APPRECIATE THEIR EFFORTS IN GOING THE EXTRA MILE. CONSEQUENTLY, I AM FILING ANOTHER COMPLAINT IN AN EFFORT TO ASSIST FORD IN RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CARBON MONOXIDE BOX ALERTED THAT THERE WAS CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. UPDATED 09/06/17 *BF *CN
WHEN DRIVING CAR LOST ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS, POWER STEERING, RADIO, LIGHTS, ETC. I HAD IT TOWED TO SERVICE AND THEY SAID NOTHING CAME UP IN DIAGNOSTICS OR ERROR CODES. I PICKED THE CAR UP AND WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. BEFORE IT WAS ONLY HAPPENING WHEN I SAT IDLE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN STARTED MOVING. NOW IT IS ALL THE TIME. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. I'VE REACHED BACK OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AGAIN AND AM WAITING FOR A TIME AVAILABLE TO GO BACK IN. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOTATE IT BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE ME A LOANER CAR WHILE CAR WAS BEING FIXED OR HELP ME ANY FURTHER AND JUST TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN IT GOES IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY DON'T SEE A ERROR CODE AND THEY HAVE TROUBLE REPLICATING IT. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED TO ME WHEN IDLE, AT A STOP LIGHT, WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HILL AND WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT. THERE IS NO PATTERN OR NO WAY TO TELL WHEN OR HOW IT HAPPENS. THE PHOTO WAS AT A INTERSECTION.
THE PASSENGER WINDOW WAS INTACT WHEN IT WAS ROLLED DOWN. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. MY 8 YEAR OLD SON SHUT THE DOOR AND THE WINDOW WAS ROLLED UP. THE WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY CRACKED.
WHEN I ACELLERATE FAST LIKE GETTING ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY, A BURNT OR COTTON SMELL ENTERS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DESPITE THE A/C RECIRCULATION BEING ENGAGED. SMELL DISSAPATES AFTER A WHILE BUT ALWAYS HAPPENS UNDER THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED CONDITIONS. FORD DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN THE VEHICLE TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE AND IS SEEING IT AGAIN TOMORROW FOR THE SAME THING. FIRST VISIT THEY REPLACED SOME MOULDING AND RESEALED STUFF IN THE REAR END. SECOND VISIT THEY REPLACED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. NEITHER OF THESE ACTIONS RESOLVED THE ISSUE, I HAVE JUST LEARNED THAT A POLICE OFFICER IN THE US PASSED OUT DRIVING A FORD EXPLORER HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE A WIFE AND TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND I FEAR FOR THEIR SAFETY GIVEN THE TOXIC FUMES CONTAINED IN AUTOMOTIVE EXHAUST.
SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR I NOTICED A FOUL SMELL ON THE INTERIOR. IT SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS. NOW THAT IT IS WINTER AND I AM WARMING UP MY CAR PRIOR TO GETTING AN IT I NOTICED THAT THAT SAME SMELL PERMEATES THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR AS WELL. MY ONLY ASSUMPTION COULD BE THAT WHATEVER IS COMING OUT OF THE CAR IS SOMEHOW LEAKING INSIDE THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR. IT IS A SMELL THAT MAKES YOU VERY VERY SICK TO YOUR STOMACH. CALLING MY FORD DEALERSHIP DID NO GOOD AS THEY ACTED LIKE THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THIS PROBLEM COULD BE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT DETECTED EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER (BILL CLOUGH FORD INC., 227 US-13, WINDSOR, NC 27983, (252) 794-4176) CONFIRMED THE EXHAUST FAILURE AND REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE THE NEXT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED. NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,800.
There is a constant drain on the battery and overnight the battery can go dead. I replace the battery every 6 months to a year and have been doing that ever since we purchased it. The dealership wants $250 to diagnose it. It's been a problem from day 1. Even when we took it to get serviced and they kept it overnight - the same thing happened at the dealership, but they just ignored it. That was when it was under warranty. I read on the internet that several people have this same problem. I feel this should be a recall. I have a 2017 Ford Platinum
EXHAUST ODOR SMELL, AS SOON AS CAR SPEEDS UP ABOVE THE 40 MPH, IT STARTS SMELLING EXHAUST IN THE CAR. SMELL IS SO STRONG THAT CAUSE HEADACHE. THIS IS POISON CARBON MONOXIDE.
EXHAUST FUMES IN CABIN ARE EXTREMELY STRONG WHEN DRIVING 35 MPH OR HIGHWAY. I AM LIGHTHEADED, DIZZY,TROUBLE BREATHING EXASPERATED WITH COPD AND ASTHMA. DEALER SAID THEY DID NOT NOTICE EXHAUST IN CABIN WITH CO DETECTOR.
1ST TIME I HAD MY CAR WASHED THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH CAR WASH THE LUGGAGE RACKS ON TOP OF THE EXPLORER LIFTED UP. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP IN EL CAJON CA (WERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED) AND THEY WANTED $500 TO FIX IT. DID NOT GIVE ME A TICKET WITH THE PROBLEM LISTED ON IT. IT WAS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THEY NOW LIFT IN HEAVY WIND OR IF I TRY TO WASH THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE. NOT SURE OF DATE WAS IN 2017 RIGHT AFTER BOUGHT THE CAR.
ODORS IN THE OCCUPANT COMPARTMENT UNDER HEAVY THROTTLE SITUATIONS-CLIMBING STEEP GRADES OR ACCELERATING ONTO THE FREEWAY-OR WHEN THE HVAC SYSTEM IS IN RECIRCULATION MODE.
EXHAUST IN THE CABIN OF VEHICLE WHEN USING ACCELERATION HAD IT IN THE 2013 EXPLOYER AND NOW IN THE NEW 2017 EXPLOYER. THE EXHAUST IN VERY SICKIENING IN THE CAB WHEN DRIVING, AND FORD DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. FORD WILL NOT PAY TO HAVE ANYTHING DONE EVEN UNDER WARRANTY. SALESPERSON WON'T ADMIT IT IS A ISSUE. ON NATIONAL NEWS POLICE DEPARTMENTS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WHY IS NOTHING GETTING DONE????
EXHAUST COMES INTO CABIN WHEN AC IS ON
WHEN DRIVING ON THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE TURNPIKE (70 MPH) THE MOLDING ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON RETURNING HOME I NOTICED THAT THE SAME PIECE ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE MOLDING OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. THIS HAPPENED MIDDAY ON SUNDAY, MAY 14, 2017 YOU MAY NOTICE THIS IS THE SAME CAR THAT STOPPED DRIVING AS I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT PURCHASING IT LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AGO.
ROTTEN EGG FUMES FILLING INTERIOR OF VEHICLE. I HAVE OWNED IT FOR LESS THAN A MONTH. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE NOT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS OF YET, BUT IT SEEMS TO FALL IN LINE WITH OTHER FORD EXPLORER ISSUES REGARDING EXHAUST LEAKING INTO CABIN
STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN THE ENTIRE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE UPON EXCELERATION SO MUCH SO YOU HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO EVACUATE THE SMELL. IT'S AN ON GOING PROBLEM AND JUST NOT A ONE TIME EVENT. I HAVE A FOUR OLD DAUGHTER THAT SITS IN THE 2ND ROW THAT I'M CONCERNED ABOUT.
WE HAVE NEW AIRBAG TYPE REAR SEATBELTS, AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BUCKLE THE PASSENGERS IN AS LONG AS WE HAVE A CHILD SEAT IN THE MIDDLE, WE ALWAYS HAVE A CHILD SEAT IN THE MIDDLE, LEFT PASSENGER CANNOT BUCKLE THEMSELVES IN,. STRONG EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. THIS USUALLY OCCURS DURING ACCELERATION AND WHEN THE AC IS ON. THE ODOR IS SO STRONG, WE USUALLY HAVE TO PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN FOR RELIEF.
BOUGHT THIS FORD EXPLORER APRIL 2017 , IT WAS A PROGRAM CAR WITH 12,000 MILES . I NOTICED A SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON . EXHAUST FUMES IN CABIN OF CAR. THEY SAY THEY FIXED IT BUT I STILL SMELL EXHAUST FUMES. CARBON MONOXIDE
TRAVELING DOWN INTERSTATE AND SUNROOF EXPLODED, SOUNDED LIKE A SHOT GUN BLAST. GLASS SHATTERED, PANEL WAS PULLED UPWARD AND NO DAMAGE TO THE CURTAIN.
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, EXHAUST FUMES COME INSIDE VEHICLE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS TURNED ON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN ON A CITY STREET AND A HIGHWAY. THE FAULT OR PROBLEM THAT IS CREATED FOR UNSAFE CONDITIONS IS THE SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES. UNKNOWN FOR THE COMPONENT PART OR SYSTEM THAT IS CAUSING THE SAFETY RISK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN.

DRIVING HOME AFTER BUYING MY BRAND NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER I STARTED SMELLING CAR EXHAUST. I THOUGHT IT WAS AS COMING FROM THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME. IT WASN'T. IT WAS COMING OUT OF THE AIR VENTS IN FRONT OF MY FACE AND I HAD THE AIR ON RECIRCULATE. IT SEAMS TO COME OUT MORE WHEN YOU ARE ACCELERATING OR PASSING CARS. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN OR I WOULD GET A HEADACHE. IT HAS LESS THAN A 1000 MILES ON IT AND ITS IN THE SHOP. THEY CALLED JUST BEFORE I FOUND THIS WEBSITE AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND TO COME PICK IT UP. I TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD NOT RETAKE POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL I SPOKE WITH AN ATTORNEY. THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THEY WILL TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT IT. JUST NOW WAITING FOR FORD TO CALL BACK. I DRIVE MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR. DO D SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEM SELFS. TRADING THE HEALTH OF HUMANS OVER MONEY. THIS CAR IS SO NEW I HAVEN'T EVEN MADE A CAR PAYMENT YET.
ON JANUARY 27TH, 2017, MY WIFE AND I LEASED A NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER. EVERY TIME WE OPERATE THE VEHICLE, WE GET EXTREMELY SICK (SOME SYMPTOMS WE EXPERIENCE ARE SORE THROAT, RUNNING NOSE, HEADACHES, AND NAUSEA THAT LAST HOURS AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE). THIS OCCURS ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING/OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE HEATING SYSTEM WAS SET TO 75 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND THE WINDOWS WERE CLOSED. AFTER WE FELT SICK WE DID SHUT OFF THE HEATING SYSTEM AND OPEN THE WINDOWS BUT THERE WAS A SLIGHT ODOR IN THE CABIN AND WE STILL FEEL SEVERAL ALIMENTS. DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR MYSELF AND MY 6-MONTH-OLD DAUGHTER THAT WAS IN THE VEHICLE (THIS BEING MY MOST SIGNIFICANT CONCERN). FORD MOTOR CORP INSTALLED A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM, REMOVED THE REAR BUMPER AND RESEALED ANY LEAKS, CHECKED CABIN PRESSURE AND TRIED TO RESEAL ANY CRACKS THAT MAY ALLOW EXHAUST TO RENTER THE CABIN. FORD STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FIXED, AFTER BEING BROUGHT TO THEM FOR THE THIRD TIME (THEY SAID THEY FOUND MORE LEAKS AND RESEALED THEM), BUT REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY DOCUMENTATION STATING THAT THE VEHICLE IS SAFE FOR MY FAMILY AND MYSELF TO BE IN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES, A FORD SERVICE TECHNICIAN LOCATED AT SAYVILLE FORD TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH ME AND CONFIRMED THE SAME AILMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM SERVICE AFTER FORD STATED IT WAS FIXED FOR A 3RD TIME AND WE WERE STILL GETTING SICK WHEN WE DROVE THE VEHICLE. WE CONTACTED FORD AGAIN AND WE ADVISED THEM OF THE SITUATION FOR A 4TH TIME AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS 'BY ITS VERY NATURE, NEW CAR SMELL IS DUE TO PLASTICS AND ADHESIVES IN THE VEHICLE. IT COULD BE AN IRRITANT TO SOME. UNFORTUNATELY, YOU MAY HAVE TO CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS THAT MAY BE AVAILABLE TO YOU.'
FAMILY HAS BEEN HAVING NEUROLOGICAL SYMPTOMS AFTER SMELLING SEVERE EXHAUST IN THE CAB OF OUR VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSIS THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE PILLARS WERE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FUTURE FORD LINCOLN (650 AUTOMALL DR., ROSEVILLE, CA 95661). THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNTOUCHABLE AND THE FAILURE OCCURRED DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT FROM THE SUN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, CARBON MONOXIDE EMITTED THROUGH THE VENTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER BECAME DROWSY WHILE DRIVING. THE CARBON MONOXIDE REMAINED IN THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE WINDOWS WERE ROLLED DOWN. THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR DETECTED 13 PPM TO 16 INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LAKE ELSINORE FORD (31500 AUTO CENTER DR, LAKE ELSINORE, CA 92530, PHONE NUMBER: (951) 471-4100), BUT THEY COULD NOT DETECT THE CARBON MONOXIDE DUE TO NOT HAVING A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE AND SOMEONE WOULD CALL BACK. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,350.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO REDLANDS FORD INC (1121 COLTON AVE, REDLANDS, CA, 92374) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER. THE CONTACT MADE THE MANUFACTURER AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO FAIRVIEW FORD (292N G STREET, SAN BERNARDINO, CA 92410) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 400.
THERE WAS A COOLANT LEAK INTO THE HEATER BOX WHICH CAUSE THE HEATER CORE TO FAIL AND THEN IT BEGAN FILLING THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CABIN WITH COOLANT FUMES FOR TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT COURTESY FORD HERE IN PORTLAND OR. IT WENT BACK THREE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. IF THEY WOULD HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTORS THEY COULD AND HAD THE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS MAJOR FAILURE HAPPENING. BREATHING IN COOLANT AND BEING TOLD IT'S OKAY. IT ISN'T IS IT? PLEASE HELP.
LAST NIGHTS AS I DROVE MY NEW 2017 EXPLORER OFF THE LOT WITH ONLY 11 MILES ON IT, I DROVE ON SURFACE STREETS AND THEN ONTO THE HIGHWAY. AFTER I GOT UP TO 65 MPH THE EXPLORER STARTED TO LOSE ACCELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO GET OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND THEN HAD GREAT DIFFICULTY GETTING THE CAR TO MOVE FROM 0 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR TO GET BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP USING THE SIDE STREETS. I NOW HAVE A LOANER CAR AND I WAS FIRST TOLD IT COULD BE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, AND THEN AFTER A HOOKUP TO THE COMPUTER WAS TOLD IT WAS IN TRANSPORT MODE - HOWEVER NOTHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTERED ANY PROBLEMS. I HAD TEST DRIVEN THE CAR ON SATURDAY 3/18/17 USING BOTH SURFACE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, AND LAST NIGHT (3/20/17) I WAS ABLE TO GET IT UP TO SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. EXHAUST GASES ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN, CAUSING BAD SMELL, USUALLY UNDER LOAD, DURING HILL CLIMBING, MODERATE TO HARD ACCELERATION WHEN JOINING INTERSTATE OR FASTER ROADS, AC IN USE, WITH OR WITHOUT RECIRCULATION ON, SYMPTOMS OF SORE RUNNY EYES AND HEADACHE AND NAUSEA IN CHILDREN AND OTHER OCCUPANTS. CONFIRMED TODAY BY DEALER WHO HAS IMPLEMENTED AN ATTEMPTED FIX. THIS IS A 2017 MODEL XLT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS SINCE VEHICLE FIRST PURCHASED. INITIALLY BELIEVED IT WAS SMELLS FROM OTHER VEHICLES, HOWEVER AS SYMPTOMS CONTINUED WITH OCCUPANTS SEARCH REVEALED KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE CONFIRMED BY DEALER TODAY AND ATTEMPTED FIX UNDERTAKEN.
WE CURRENTLY HAVE 4-2017 EXPLORERS THAT WERE PLACED IN SERVICE BETWEEN JANUARY 11 AND JANUARY 19, 2017. MILEAGES RANGE FROM 700 TO 3000 ON THE 4. AFTER OUR DRIVER REPORTING DIZZINESS, HEADACHES AND NAUSEA, THE FIRST VEHICLE WAS TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE ON FEBRUARY 20, 2017. THIS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD FOR DIAGNOSIS ON MARCH 6, 2017 WHERE IT SAT UNTIL MAY 17, 2017 AFTER WE CONDUCTED PRELIMINARY AIR QUALITY TEST SHOWING TVOC'S COMING OUT OF THE VENTS WHEN THE AIR WAS IN RECIRCULATION MODE. THIS HAPPENED WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, IN CITY DRIVING AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE FORD DEALER COMPLETED ALL OF THEIR DIAGNOSTICS, UPDATED THE HVAC SYSTEM TO THE MOST CURRENT AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT TO DO. ON MAY 17TH WE COMPLETED A MORE EXTENSIVE TEST AND SENT THAT TO AN INDEPENDENT LAB. AT THAT TIME ALL FOUR VEHICLES WERE MOVED TO A GARAGE FOR PASSIVE AIRING OUT AT FORDS DIRECTION. WE WERE TO LEAVE THEM A MINIMUM OF 10 DAYS AND THEN PLACE CHARCOAL FILTERS AND SILICA PACKS IN THE VEHICLES TO HELP ABSORB FUMES IF ANY WERE LEFT. WE COMPLETED A NEW AIR QUALITY TEST AND FOUND THAT IT WAS STILL SHOWING TVOC'S BEING PUT OUT OF THE VENTS AND WAS NOW SHOWING CARBON MONOXIDE. AFTER THESE RESULTS WERE PASSED ON WE WERE NOTIFIED BY FORD THAT THIS WAS NOT A NEW CAR ISSUE AND THAT IT WAS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM. WE WERE INSTRUCTED NOT TO DRIVE THE CARS IN RECIRCULATION MODE. I EXPLAINED THAT UNLESS YOU REMEMBER TO TURN THIS OFF IT IS AUTOMATICALLY ON AND I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED NOT TO ALLOW ANYONE TO DRIVE THEM. TODAY I RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING THEY HAVE A "SOLUTION". THE ARE USING TSB 17-0044 WHICH I WILL ATTACH. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS WILL FIX THE ISSUE AS MOST OF THE STEPS WERE COMPLETED WHEN IT WAS AT FORD THE FIRST TIME.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER (BOB DAVIDSON FORD LINCOLN, 1845 JOPPA RD, BALTIMORE, MD, 21234) WHERE THEY OBSERVED THE HOLE AND WELDED IT CLOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT NO INVOICE OR PAPERWORK WAS PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NEITHER CONTACTED NOR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000.
WHEN I ACCELERATE WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ON, THE SMELL OF EXHAUST IS ENTERING MY CABIN. I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO LET THE SMELL OUT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY CHILDREN WHEN INHALING THIS SMELL.
2016 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES SIZE 255/50 R20. THE DOT CODE ON THE TIRES IS 5MNC 1AH 0716. THE VEHICLE ODOMETER SHOWS 4,186 MILES. ON FEBRUARY 19, 2017 WHILE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT LESS THAN 25MPH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE SUFFERED A "CATASTROPHIC" SIDEWALL FAILURE RESULTING IN THE TIRE GOING COMPLETELY FLAT IN LESS THAT 1 MINUTE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. (THIS SEEMS TO BE THE SAME SYMPTOM FOR WHICH HANKOOK ISSUED AN EARLIER - JAN 2016 - RECALL.) ALL FOUR TIRES WERE PROPERLY INFLATED AS INDICATED BY THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE THE TIRE HAD NEVER STRUCK AN OBJECT THAT COULD HAVE WEAKENED THE SIDEWALL.

SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS WHEN I HAVE MY A/C ON AT FREEWAY SPEEDS
AFTER HARD ACCELERATION THE CABIN FILLS WITH EXHAUST SMELL AND I GET A HEAD ACHE INSTANTLY WHEN YOU ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN AND IT CLEARS OUT OF THE CABIN. YOUR HEAD ACHE GOES AWAY. THE CAR IS FINE UNTIL YOU ACCELERATE AGAIN.
HEAVY SMELL IN CABIN WHEN THE AC IS TURNED ON. THE SMELL IS FOUL AND WORSE WHEN AC IS TURNED ON. DRIVER HAS HAD SEVERAL EPISODES OF NAUSEA, DIZZINESS AND OVERALL UNWELL FEELING SINCE PURCHASING IN NOVEMBER 2016. NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AS OF YET, BUT THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND AM CONCERNED FOR MY THREE CHILDREN UNDER 6.

CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK SINCE NEW . MY SON WILL HAVE HEADACHES AND BE NAUSEOUS WHEN WE TAKE LONGER CAR RIDES OR HARD ACCELERATION.
WHILE THE ENGINE IS STARTED THE ODOR AND AILMENTS ARE MUCH MORE PRESENT BUT THERE IS STILL A PRESENCE OF AN ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN AND AILMENTS STILL IMPACT DRIVER WHEN VEHICLE IS IN THE OFF POSITION. MULTIPLE DRIVERS PRESENTED SIMILAR ALIMENTS SUCH AS SEVERE HEADACHES THAT LASTED SEVERAL HOURS AFTER THE EXPOSURE, RUNNY NOSE, BLOODY NOSE AND LIGHT HEADED/DIZZINESS.VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK AND FORTH TO FORD AND THEY REPLACED/REPROGRAMMED HVAC SYSTEM, REMOVED REAR BUMPER, REPLACED REAR BODY VENT, AND REAR TRIM. FORD ALSO REPLACED EXHAUST SYSTEM. FORD SERVICE CENTER HAS BEEN WAITING FOR FORD CORPORATE (HOTLINE) TO GET BACK TO THEM WITH OUR NEXT STEPS BECAUSE THE ODOR AND AILMENTS ARE STILL OCCURRING. WE HAVE CONTACTED FORD CORPORATION, FORD SERVICE CENTER AND FORD CREDIT AND NO ONE IS ABLE TO HELP ME OR RECTIFY THIS SITUATION. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR MY HEALTH AS WELL AS MY WIFE AND OUR 6 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER DUE TO THIS ISSUE.
PROBLEMS WITH FORD SYNC 3 SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING: 1) NAVIGATION SYSTEM SHOWS INCORRECT LOCATION, AND DOES NOT PROVIDE GUIDANCE. CAR MUST BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, AND RESTARTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. 2) MOBILE PHONE SHOW CONNECTED AFTER STARTING THE CAR, SHORTLY THERE AFTER DISCONNECTS AND MAKES HANDS FREE OPERATION IMPOSSIBLE. CAR MUST BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, AND RESTARTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. 3) SYSTEM COMPLETELY FREEZES RENDERING OPERATION OF ALL CAR SYSTEMS & DISPLAYS INOPERABLE. CAR MUST BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, AND RESTARTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. 4) SYSTEM CONNECT TO PHONE BUT CERTAIN FUNCTIONS ARE UNAVAILABLE. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO OPERATE CERTAIN FUNCTIONS DON'T WORK CAR MUST BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, AND RESTARTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THESE ISSUES ARE ALL INTERMITTENT. I HAVE VIDEOS THAT ARE TOO LARGE TO ATTACH THAT DOCUMENT THE PROBLEMS ABOVE.
EXHAUST IN CABIN WHEN INSIDE AIR IS ENGAGED, YOUR OWN EXHAUST! HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS ACCELERATED AND THEN AS YOU LEVEL THE SPEED OUT, THE EXHAUST FILLS THE VEHICLE. THIS CONSISTENTLY HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAY, TURNING CORNERS, ETC. WE HAVE MONITORED THE CARBON MONOXIDE AND IT REGISTERS ON DETECTOR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IN EXHAUST SYSTEM WHICH SHOULD BE A CLOSED SYSTEM SO THAT THERE IS NO WAY THE TOXIC SMELL SHOULD COME INSIDE YOUR CAR. OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROBLEM WAS WHEN WE INITIALLY BOUGHT A 2015 FORD EXPLORER, SAME PROBLEM. FORD WORKED ON THE 2015 MANY MANY TIMES AND FINALLY SAID THEY WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE ANYMORE WORK ON THE VEHICLE. AT WHICH TIME FORD BOUGHT THE 2015 FORD EXPLORER BACK. AND SOLD US THE 2017 TO TAKE ITS PLACE. WE BEGAN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2017 FORD EXPLORER AND IT HAS ALSO BEEN IN THE SHOP ABOUT 3 TIMES, NOW FORD HAS GIVEN IT BACK TO US AND TOLD US THEY WILL NOT AUTHORIZE ANY WORK ON IT. PROBLEM NOT SOLVED BUT IT IS A REALITY FOR US WE ARE STILL PAYING NOTES ON A VEHICLE THAT IS TOTALLY UNSAFE FOR US AND OUR GRANDCHILDREN. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM ON THE NATIONAL NEWS, FOUND IT ON THE INTERNET ( PROBLEM SINCE 2011) NONE OF THIS WAS DISCLOSED TO US WITH THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE OF THE 2015! FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET JUST WALKS AWAY WITH NO INTENTION OF FIXING IT OR OWNING THE PROBLEM.
