VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE OF THE DRIVEWAY. ONE HOUR LATER,THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
1999 F-150 HEAD GASKET LEAKING ON RIGHT BACK SIDE ON EXHAUST AND CATALYTIC CONVERT SMELL AND SEE SMOKE AFFRAID OF FIRE WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED .*AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TO SET THE CRUISE CONTROL. IT WOULD NOT ACTIVATE. CONSUMER CONTINUED HOME, PARKED THE VEHICLE. THE NEXT DAY CONSUMER GOT INTO THE VEHICLE, STARTED THE VEHICLE , AND PROCEEDED TO PLACE IT INTO GEAR, BUT VEHICLE WILL NOT LONGER GO INTO GEAR. WILL CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER.*AK
DRIVER NOTICED A BROWNISH LIQUID LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKED. DRIVER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO SMELL STRONG GASOLINE ODORS WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE ONTO THE DRIVEWAY CONSUMER NOTICED FUEL LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND. CONSUMER FOUND THAT THE FUEL HEATER RAIL FAILED, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALER TO PURCHASE THE PART, AND REPLACED THE PART HIMSELF.*AK
WE WERE SLEEPING AND HEARD A VEHICLE ALARM GOING OFF OUTSIDE OF OUR HOME. WHEN WE LOOKED OUTSIDE THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK WAS IN FLAMES. WE THEN CALLED 911, AND THEN MY DAD GOT THE HOSE AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. HE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS DUE TO AM ELECTRICAL FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, AND WAS ABLE TO PRY OPEN THE HOOD ON THE SIDE WHERE THE BATTERY IS AND UNPLUG IT. THEN THE FIRE DISSIPATED. BY THAT TIME THE TRUCK WAS TOTALED. *AK
RIGHT FRONT WHEEL FELL OFF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. LOWER BALL JOINT CRACKED AND SEPARATED, CAUSING VEHICLE FRAME AND BUMPER TO LAND ON PAVEMENT. DEALER MECHANIC COMMENTED THAT HE HAS NEVER SEEN A BALL JOINT SHEAR OFF IN SUCH A MANNER IN 23 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.*AK
THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE PARKED INSIDE THE CONSUMER GARAGE. THE DRIVER CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE GARAGE WAS ALSO DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED OUT BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *NM VEHICLE BURNED CARPORT AND ENTIRE HOUSE TO THE GROUND. TRUCK IS STILL ON PROPERLY WAITING ON INVESTIGATION. INVESTIGATOR SAID CAUSE OF FIRE WAS DUE TO A SWITCH DEFECT. VEHICLE WAS BURNED COMPLETELY-TIRES TOO. *BF *NM
THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN THE CONSUMER 1999 FORD F150 ENGAGED IN LOW RANGE WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSED THE TRUCK TO JERK, LOSE CONTROL AND THE REAR END TO GO OUT.*MR THE CONSUMER HAD A NEW REAR END PUT IN BUT THE TRUCK HAS CONTINUED TO GO IN AND OUT OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE AUTOMATICALLY. NOW THE TRUCK START ON IT'S OWN. THE CONSUMER HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO KEEP FROM BURNING OUT THE STARTER. WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT AND THE RPM'S RACED INTO THE RED. THE CONSUMER COULD HEAR CLICKS UNDER THE DASH WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING WHICH RESULTED IN THE BATTERY BEING DRAINED. THE RADIATOR LEAKED. *NM
1999 FORD F-150 WITH A 5.4L TRITON V8 ENGINE... PROBLEM: BLOWN SPARK PLUG AFTER WORK, WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE FREEWAY, THE ENGINE MADE A "POP" NOISE, AND THEN BEGAN TO SOUND LIKE A STEAM ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND LOUD, THUS I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS CONCERNED THAT I MAY HAVE BLOWN A SPARK PLUG (OR POSSIBLY A VALVE) AND DIDN'T WANT TO SET THE ENGINE ON FIRE. I WAS STRANDED UNTIL I COULD GET ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE ENTIRE HEAD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR THE BLOWN SPARK PLUG WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED HEAD. OTHER OPTIONS INCLUDE TO RETREAD THE BLOWN SPARK PLUG. SEEMS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW BASED ON THE LARGE NUMBER OF OTHER USERS W/ THE SAME PROBLEM. *NM
SITTING AT STOP LIGHT IN 1999 F-150 W/5.4 LITRE ENGINE,SLOWLY PROCEEDED THROUGH LIGHT AND HEARD A LOUD BANG FOLLOWED BY VERY LOUD AND ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED AT SIDE OF ROAD AT 3:00AM. TURNS OUT THAT SPARK PLUG RIPPED AWAY FROM CYLINDER HEAD CAUSING EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. THIS NOT ONLY IS AN OBVIOUS MFGR. DEFECT,BUT A SAFETY CONCERN AS WELL. THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM AND SHOULD STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING. THANK YOU. DOUG BEEMAN. *JB
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF ENGINE. *JB *SC
WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK HOME, ABOUT A MILE OUT AFTER BEING ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE WAS A LOUD BANG. THE SPARK PLUG HAD BEEN SHOT OUT OF IT'S PLACE, PER A SHOP OWNER. NOT SURE WHY IT HAPPENED YET. IT WAS STATED TO US THAT FORD HAS MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO THEIR TRUCKS. WE HAVE A 99 F150 AND WONDERING IF THERE ARE MORE SUCH COMPLAINTS AND IF SO WHAT CAN WE DO TO PUSH THE ISSUE. IT COULD GET SOMEONE HURT AT SOME POINT! *NM
CONSUMER HAD JUST STARTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHEN HE HEARD A POP. AFTER PULLING OFF THE ROAD TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, HE FOUND NOTHING. HE GOT BACK ON THE ROAD, AND THE VEHICLE RAN FINE. AFTER ARRIVING HOME CONSUMER INSPECTED THE COIL, AND THE SPARK PLUG CAME RIGHT OUT WITH IT.*AK 4SPARK PLUS BLEW OUT OF CYLINDER HEAD. *TT
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. I OWN A 1999 F150 FORD. THE MIRRORS ON THE DOORS ARE DEFECTIVE. THE FINISH HAS ALMOST ALL COME OFF. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO VIEW OUT OF THE SIDE MIRRORS. THEY HAVE THE SIGNAL FLASHERS R AND L IN THE MIRRORS. I HAVE GONE TO THE DEALER, [LOCATED IN THOMSON, GA], AND ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE MIRRORS. THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE MIRRORS, AND THEY WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ACKNOWLEDGED TO ME THAT THE MIRRORS WERE DEFECTIVE, BUT SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THEM FIXED ON MY OWN AT A NON FORD GLASS REPAIR SHOP. THEY ESTIMATED THE COST TO BE $500.00-$600.00. I HAD ANOTHER PERSON CHECK AT A DEALER IN COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA. THEY SAID THE POWER OPERATING PART OF THE SIDE MIRRORS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOT THE GLASS.*AK *TC
I HAVE A 1999 F150 TRUCK AND A 1999 EXPEDITION, BOTH HAVE A 5.4L ENGINE AND BOTH HAVE OIL LEAKS ON THE CYLINDER HEAD GASKETS, THEY BOTH HAVE ABOUT 60,000 MILES. *JB
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AT 45 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED BY OWNER.*AK MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. *TT
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH DRIVER'S AIR BAG INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND PULLED OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT THE CAUSE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. *AK DEALER AND COLLISION CENTER STATE THAT SENSOR SHOWS DEPLOYMENT WAS CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT, BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. *BF
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. THE TURN SIGNALS, EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO FUNCTION. IT BEGAN AS AN INFREQUENT PROBLEM OCCURRING MORE AND MORE AND LASTING LONGER IN DURATION. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM ONLY INVOLVED THE TURN SIGNALS AND EMERGENCY FLASHERS. I ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT THE BRAKE LIGHT MALFUNCTIONED AFTER LOOKING OVER A WIRING DIAGRAM OF THE VEHICLE. THE REMEDY FOR THE PROBLEM, PER A CAR WEB SITE, IS ROUTED THE EMERGENCY SWITCH. DEPRESSING THE SWITCH NUMEROUS TIMES SEEMS TO CLEAN THE CONTACTS, SOLVING THE PROBLEM, AT LEAST SO FAR.*AK
I HAVE A 1999 FORD EXPEDITION. ON SATURDAY JAN 15, 2005 MY WIFE AND I WAS DRIVING AND I FELT THE TRUCK PULLING TO THE RIGHT. I GOT OUT AND SURE ENOUGH, THE LEFT TIE ROD WAS BROKEN. THIS IS AFTER REPLACING THE RIGHT ONE 6 MONTHS AGO. I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE HAD BOTH REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME BUT I HAVE LESS THAN 60,000 MILE AND DON'T REALLY DRIVE IT THAT MUCH. I DON'T DRIVE IT ON ROUGH ROADS OR OFF ROAD. I AM AMAZED AT HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO RECALL. *NM
THE DIGITAL ODOMETER BLANKS OUT, OR SCRAMBLES ITS DISPLAY. THE DEALERS SERVICE ADVISOR SAYS THE SOLDERED CONNECTIONS ARE "BAD". THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MUST BE REPLACED. @ COST $600.00. FURTHER INQUIRIES FIND THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHER F-150 OWNERS HAVE THE SAME DEFECT. VERY DISTRACTING IN TRAFFIC WHEN IT BLANKS OUT! *TR
WHILE TRAVELING 75 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE, THEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. CONSUMER HAD TO MAKE IT ACROSS SEVERAL LANES TRYING TO AVOID A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND IT DISCOVERED THAT A SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT. DEALER REPAIRED THE SPARK PLUG SLEEVE AS A TEMPORARY REPAIR.*AK...*AK
MY NEIGHBOR AND I LIVED IN A DUPLEX WITH ADJOINING GARAGES IN WHICH SHE WOULD PARK HER FORD F-150 PICKUP. AT APPROX. 11 PM ON 1/4/05, MY SON WOKE ME UP TO SAY HE SMELLED SMOKE. WHEN WE WENT OUTSIDE WE SAW MY NEIGBORS TRUCK ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND THE GARAGE ITSELF WAS STARTING TO BURN. BY THE TIME THE FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED AND PUT OUT THE FIRE, BOTH OUR GARAGES WERE DESTROYED ALONG WITH PART OF HER DUPLEX. THE REST OF THE DWELLING HAD EXTENSIVE SMOKE, HEAT AND WATER DAMAGE. THE FIRE INVESTIGATORS DID NOT COME UP WITH A DEFINITE CAUSE OF THE FIRE, BUT TWO OF THE THREE FELT IT STARTED WITH THE TRUCK. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE IN THIS MATTER AS I LOST A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF PROPERTY? I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION YOU COULD GIVE. THANK YOU.
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT 35 MPH AND HEARD NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. VEHICLE STOPPED, AND HAD TO BE TOWED. AFTER THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ENGINE WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE.*AK

I BLEW A PLUG ON MY FORD F150. ENGINE HAS HAD PROPER MAINTENANCE. IT HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES ON IT. 5.4 V8 YEAR IS 1999. CALLED FORD AND THEY WILL NO ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM AND WILL DO NOTHING TO REIMBURSE ANY OF THE REPAIR COSTS. I THINK IT IS A FAULTY HEAD ON THE TRITON ENGINES.
THE DRIVER SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT BACK AND WOULD FIT LOOSELY AROUND THE CONSUMER. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE RETRACTOR 4 TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB.....THE FIRST AND SECOND SAFETY BELTS WERE REPLACED FULLY AND PARTIALLY UNDER WARRANTY. THE THIRD SET NOW INSTALLED ARE DUE FOR REPLACEMENT FOR THE FULL COST OF $220. *AK
TRANSMISSION GEARS BREAKING, TIMING CHAIN LOOSENING. *JB
SPARE TIRE FELL OFF THE TRUCK DUE TO FAILURE OF THE STRANDED STEEL CABLE THAT SECURES THE TIRE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BED. *BF *TC
PASSENGER POWER DOOR LOCK FAILED, NECESSITATING PASSENGE TO ROLL DOWN CAR WIDOW TO USE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE TO GET OUT. DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK SOON FAILED IN EXACT SAME MANNER.
SPARK PLUG PULLED OUT OF THE MOTOR. THE COST WAS GREAT. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT FORD KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT NOTIFY THE VEHICLE OWNERS OF THE ISSUE. IT IS ALSO MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IF THE SPARK PLUGS HAD BEEN CHANGED THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. THE PLUG PULLED OUT AT 81,000 MILES. THE PLUG CHANGES ARE RECOMMENDED AT 100,000 MILES. THIS PROCEDURE COST ME WELL OVER $3000.00. IF FORD HAD NOTIFIED ME, AND I HAD GOTTEN THE PLUGS CHANGED THE COST WOULD HAVE BEEN CONSIDERABLY LESS THAT $1000.00. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER SHIP THAT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE. AS SOON AS THE NOISE WAS HEARD I SHUT THE TRUCK ENGINE OFF. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD REIMBURSE ALL THE VEHICLE OWNERS FOR THE COST OF THIS DESIGN ISSUE. *JB

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD CLANKING SOUND, ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF ITS SOCKET, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER AND EVENTUALLY STALL. *AK
'99 FORD F-150 WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORK BY THEMSELVES WITHOUT TURNING THEM ON. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, A FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB
SLIGHT TAPPING THAT OF LIKE A TAPPING VALVE FOR ABOUT A WEEK PRIOR TO FIRST INCIDENT. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED WITH NO WARNING THAT I NOTICED.*AK VEHICLE HAS NOW EJECTED TWO SPARK PLUGS. SPARK PLUGS WERE NOT THE ORIGINAL FROM THE FACTORY. THE FIRST ONE WAS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, 3RD BACK. WHEN IT CAME OUT, IT DESTROYED THE COIL OVER THE PLUG AS WELL. IT WAS REPAIRED USING A HELI-COIL SOLID STEEL INSERT WHICH WORKED OK, BUT HAS COME BACK OUT WHEN THE SPARKPLUG WAS REMOVED. LOCAL FORD DEALER QUOTED $1450.00 FOR A SINGLE NEW HEAD, NOT INSTALLED. THE SECOND TIME, IT WAS THE THIRD BACK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THIS ONE KILLED THE MOTOR. I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED YET, BUT ALONG WITH THE BLOWN PLUG, I HAVE WATER IN MY OIL AND THE MOTOR WILL NO LONGER TURN OVER, EVEN WITH ALL PLUGS REMOVED. I'LL BE BUYING A NEW MOTOR NOW WHEN I HAVE THE MONEY. MEANWHILE, MY WIFE MUST SIT AT HOME WITH NO VEHICLE AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN UNTIL REPAIRS ARE MADE.
I WAS MERGING ONTO A BUSY ROAD SAFELY, AND A SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF MY ENGINE HEAD. IT CAUSED AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. IT ALSO POSED A FIRE HAZARD AS FUEL CONTINUED TO POUR INTO A CYLINDER WITH NO SPARK PLUG SEALING THE TOP OF IT.*AK
THE NUMBER 3 SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF MY 1999 F150 WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT. THE ALUMINUM HEAD HAS ONLY 4 THREADS HOLDING THE PLUG IN PLACE, CLEARLY A DESIGN DEFECT. I HAD BOTH HEADS REMOVED AND HAD ALL EIGHT HOLES REPAIRED...TOTAL COST WAS ABOUT $3,000. THERE WAS 80,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AT THE TIME. FORD SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT! *TR
PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT DOING APPROX 20 MPH IN A 99 F-150. THE SPARK PLUG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE #2 CYL. BLEW COMPLETELY OUT OF THE HEAD. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE ABSOLUTLY NO HELP, STATING THAT THERE WAS NO WARRRENTY ON THIS ITEM AND THAT AN APPROX REPAIR COST WAS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF $3500. ENDED UP TAKING IT TO A LOCAL REPUTABLE SHOP HERE IN PHX. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPAIR IT FOR CONSIDERIBLY LESS. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM DUE TO A POOR DESIGN ON FORDS PART. WHY IS IT THAT LOYAL CUSTOMERS ARE TREATED THIS WAY?*AK
I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY PICKUP HOWEVER IT HAS BROKEN DOWN ON ME. IT BEGAN WITH A SMALL SHUTTER. IT FELT LIKE THE PICKUP WAS HAVING ISSUES IDLING/ACCELERATING. ONLY AT LOW (5-10 MPH) SPEEDS DID I FEEL THE WEAKNESS/SHUTTER. I HAD THIS ISSUE FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS, I JUST ASSUMED IT NEEDED A TUNE UP AND WAS PREPARED TO HAVE ONE DONE SOON. I WAS TOWING A TRAILER (STARTED OFF FINE) THEN AT A STOP SIGN FELT THAT THE ENGINE WAS NOW SHUTTERING/MISFIRING EVEN MORE. TOOK THE PICKUP TO MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND FOUND THAT VALVE 4 WAS STUCK OPEN AND HAD ESSENTIALLY MELTED ITS SELF OPEN. THIS IN TURN CAUSED THE PISTON TO GET DAMAGED AND NOW I'M FACED WITH REPLACING THE HEADS OR THE ENTIRE ENGINE. MY PICKUP HAS 110,000 HOWEVER (ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC) THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER PICKUPS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH AS LITTLE AS 80,000 MILES. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A RECALL ON WHAT I'VE EXPERIENCED. *NM
MY FORD F-150 HAS A DEFECT IN THE DOORS THAT CAUSES THE METAL TO SPLIT AND THEN RUST. 1999 F 150. THE ENGINE SPIT THE SPARK PLUG OUT AND DAMAGED THE HEAD,COIL, WIRING AND HOOD. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL FELL OFF. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INDEPENDENT SHOP, WHERE THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT TIED ROD SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. LEFT FRONT FENDER WAS MOST SEVERELY DAMAGED. FIRE'S ORIGIN APPEARED TO BE ON LEFT REAR OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *AK

DROVE MY F-150 TRUCK TO EAT THEN WHEN I CAME OUT I DROVE IT ABOUT 100 YARDS AND STOP AND DID ABOUT 15 MINUTES SHOPING AT HOME DEPOT WHEN I CAME OUT AND STARTED IT IT MADE A BANG. IT SOUNDED LIKE A HOLE IN THE TAIL PIPE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS A CYLINDER HEAD FROM A BLOW SPARK PLUG.*AK
I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM FORD TO HAVE IDLE ARM CHECKED FOR DEFECT AT MY EXPENSE. ALSO IF FAULTY, I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COST OF REPLACEMENT. IF THIS IS A RECALL, THIS SHOULD BE AT FORD'S EXPENSE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THEY WOULD TELL ME THAT A RECALL WOULD BE AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE. *JB
FIRE ORIGINATED IN LR QUADRANT OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT. VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED AND ENGINE NOT RUNNING FOR 10-12 HOURS PRIOR TO FIRE. FIRE ORIGINATED AT MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ACCELERATED. CONSUMER USED CRUISE CONTROL. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL WAS DEFECTIVE.*AK
BOTH EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRRORS ON MY 1999 F-150 LARIET MODEL HAVE EXPERIENCED BLACK SPOTS. THE BLACK SPOTS MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANYTHING BEHIND ME. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT DELAMINATION OF MIRRORS OCCURED ON 1998 AND 1999 F-150, F-250, EXPEDITIONS, AND LINCOLN NAVIGATOR VEHICLES. I HAVE HAD THE MIRRORS REPLACED AT A COST OF $150.00 PER MIRROR PLUS LABOR. I CONTACTED FORD TO ASK ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COSTS OF REPLACING THE MIRRORS AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THAT THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. FORD HAS BEEN VERY UNRESPONSIVE TO THIS ISSUE. IT APPEARS UNLESS A VEHICLE RECALL IS REQUIRED THAT THEY WILL NOT VOLUNTARILY REPLACE THE MIRRORS. I WAS TOLD BY THE PARTS MANAGER THAT THE REPLACEMENT MIRRORS HAVE A DIFFERENT DESIGN THAN THE ORIGINAL MIRRORS. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THE MIRRORS WERE REDESIGNED AFTER FORD REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT.*AK
