The contact stated that while servicing the vehicle independently, the contact unplugged the cruise control deactivation sensor and became aware of condensation leaking from the sensor. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.
The contact owns a 1991 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle was sluggish. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as needed after warming up. The contact stated upon refueling the vehicle, the gasoline would splash out of the fuel tank filler neck and onto the gas pump. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.
The contact owned a 2000 Ford F-150. The contact stated that her son had parked the vehicle in the residence driveway and had turned off the ignition. The son had exited the vehicle and saw that a fireball had erupted from under the hood. The contact stated that she had reviewed the explosion on her home security camera. The contact stated that the fire department was called and extinguished the flames with water. A fire department report was not filed however it was commented that the origin was most likely an electrical fire. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to an impound lot and was declared a total loss by her insurance company. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Safety Hotline. The contact was aware of an open recall for the vehicle, NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V017000 (Vehicle Speed Control), which had a risk of fire. The contact was not the original owner of the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel started to wobble. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 192,699.
Right Price Auto stated that they would do repairs 2000 ford f150 XLT purchased truck, they supposedly repaired gas gage however bad battery & rear tires(extremely bald) were left untouched & kept lying about getting tires replaced(rather they were used tires or not),just constantly keep lying...... Also keep lying about repairing my 2015 ram 1500 5.7V8 big horn stating they fixed it(Misfire on #8),with all the lying & scheming(Now all Coil packs(8) & spark plugs(16) needs to be replaced),trucks are just sitting in my yard,2000 f150 bad battery & bald tires in rear(unsafe to drive),I feel cheated, they sold my trade in(2003 dodge ram 1500)with in a week & leave my son & I with trucks that are inoperable, they stated these things would be repaired before we signed any papers but once we signed AS-IS document they started with the lying & scheming, either I want these matters fixed or I want the $2000 back for my trade in & the $500 cash they took off my debit card for a total of $2,500 & the $1500 cash down payment I gave them for the ford f150 for a total of $4,000, We have trucks that are no use to us or they need to fix them, I'm not making anymore payments til these problems are resolved, period....I made the first payments that were due(giving them the benefit of doubt) thinking the company would repair the trucks but no they act as if nothing is wrong & expect me to keep paying them, which I refuse, if this is not fraud I don't know what is & to think I brought a SUV from 2 years ago (no problems whatsoever) So I return to purchase from them again & they [XXX] my son [XXX] old) & myself over, WOW!! Spark plug keeps popping out due to powerful air pressure had it replaced several times
This vehicle, as do all, have dual master cylinders, great, always have a front or rear brake system function in an emergency, but this vehicle also has FLEXIBLE to hard lines from master cylinder to ABS unit. I was driving down our long downhill driveway, pressed on the brake pedal, heard a pop and pedal went to the floor, NO brakes at all and buy the time I got to the emergency brake, which did little to stop the truck, I was out in the road. Glad I wasn't out on a highway doing 50MPH. Examined what had happened and the brake line from the master cylinder to ABS unit split where the flexible line joined the hard line, and when that line breaks, no brakes at all, no backup safety system. Don't know how the flexible lines ever passed safety requirements when manufactured, but they certainly shouldn't be on a truck that's 23 years old and all should be replaced with hard lines.
Truck will not go into proper gear. You have to put emergency brake on and put transmission in neutral to crank the vehicle. Then you have to put gear shift into a different gear setting to be able to drive. The auto gear box linkage cable has issues. The truck will not go into park and will result in the vehicle running you over or run into something.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 7 MPH, the vehicle in front of hers stopped abruptly, causing her to slam on the brakes. The vehicle hit the rear end of the other vehicle. The front passenger's side bumper of the vehicle was bent inward. The contact stated that it was a fender bender; however, the driver's side and passenger's side air bags deployed. The contact noticed a strong burning odor. The contact stated that the police officer confirmed that there was a strong burning odor and smoke; however, when the officer opened the hood, there was no smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that she sustained a torn skin on the arm due to the air bag deploying. A police report was filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.
THIS IS A PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION, I HAVE 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE AT DEALERSHIPS IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY AND HAVE SEEN A LOT OF CHANGES, I SEE TOO MANY PEOPLE THESE DAYS DRIVING WITH NO HEADLIGHTS ON AT NIGHT, ITS BECAUSE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS COME ON AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED. THEY SEE THEIR INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ON SO THEY THINK THEIR HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. A SOFTWARE UPDATE ACROSS THE BOARD OF MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE MADE TO NOT TURN ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS UNLESS PARKING LIGHTS OR HEADLIGHTS ARE ON, JUST LIKE IT USED TO BE YEARS AGO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, A LOUD NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER GRIFFITH FORD LOCATED AT 16 ACCESS HWY, CARIBOU, ME 04736 WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,232.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILL GRANT FORD LOCATED AT 3060 S SPRINGFIELD AVE, BOLIVAR, MO 65613, (417) 326-7671, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V385000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). WHILE REPAIRING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD A HOLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 207,000.

IF FORD IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT THEN IT IS THE GOVERNMENT'S REPSONSIBILITY TO MAKE THEM. I AM RETIRED AND NOT ABLE TO REPAIR THIS MYSELF. THE DESIGN ISSUE WITH THE BLOWN OUT SPARK PLUG IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH THREADS IN TO THE HEAD TO HOLD THE SPARK PLUG IN. OVER TIME THE SPARK PLUG LOOSENS UP AND BLOWS OUT DUE TO THE HIGH COMPRESSION OF THE PISTON. ALL MECHANICS KNOW OF THIS ISSUE AND HAVE REPAIR HUNDREDS OF THESE PROBLEMS! *JS

FIRST I PURCHASED THE FORD F-150 2000 YEAR MODEL FROM A CAR DEALERSHIP ON OCT 28, 2019. IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS PROBLEMS KEEPING IT RUNNING. THEY PUT A NEW BATTERY IN IT 2 DAYS LATER THEN WHILE REACHING 50 MPH MY TONS WOULD DROP AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE I HAD JUST PUT 51 DOLLARS IN THE TANK, THEN I PUSHED THE GAS TO THE FLOOR MY ROOMS WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO 3 THEN I WOULD HAVE TO LET OFF THE GAS AND IT SEEMED TO DO A HARD SWITCH IN GEAR. AS THIS CONTINUED THE ENTIRE TRUCK SHOOK TILL I FIGURED OK JUST PUMP THE GAS AND LET OFF BEFORE THE SHAKING GOT TO BAD. NOW THE SHAKING AS GOTTEN WORSE AND THE TRUCK SEEMS TO NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE AT ALL OR DOES A HARD STALL. IT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A NEW LOW RANGE MOTOR WITH ONLY 100,000 MILES ON IT AT LEAST THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT, I ALSO VERBALLY MADE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEALER THAT IF ANYTHING WAS TO GO WRONG HE WOULD FIX IT, HE AGREED. NOW THAT I HAVE SEEN MY TRUCK HAS 18 RECALLS AND ONE THAT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED, A DUPLICATE TITLE AND HAD 2 LIENS I HONESTLY WANT MY MONEY BACK.IM A SINGLE MOTHER GOING TO COLLEGE AND I'M ALL MY DAUGHTER GOTS. I TOLD THE DEALER I NEEDED A RELIABLE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ALL TIMES AND IT DOES IT ON THE HWY AND CITY STREETS.
THE HALF REAR DOORS ACCESSING THE REAR BENCH SEAT ARE DEFECTIVE. THE DOORS HAVE A DEFECT IN THE LOCKING/OPENING HANDLE. THE FORD DEALER LOCALLY WANTS TO CHARGE ME IN EXCESS OF $1119.00 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS MATTER VIA THE INTERNET & HAVE FOUND THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON COMPLAINT.
I WAS DRIVING MY FORD F-150 AT AROUND 60 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE RUBBER PEALED OFF MY GENERAL GRABBER AW TIRE. AS A RESULT IT CAUSED ME TO SWERVE AND ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. MY REAR FENDER WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AS WELL AS MY REAR LIGHT. I HAVE PRIMEWELL VALERA TIRES ON THE FRONT AND THEY ARE CRACKING. I PURCHASED ALL TIRES AT FIRESTONE. OF COURSE, WHEN BRINGING THE COMPLAINT TO FIRESTONE THEY SAY I HAVE TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER SINCE THEY DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THAT NAME BRAND.
TAMARA RECALL. MY 2000 MODEL FORD F150 WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY LAST NIGHT. IT HAD BEEN PARKED THERE SINCE NOON. AT 11:10 LAST NIGHT, I SAW FLAMES COMING FROM OUTSIDE, AND MY TRUCKS HOOD WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. WONDERING WHAT WOULD MAKE IT CATCH ON FIRE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE HORN FAILED TO SOUND WHEN DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CORWIN FORD NAMPA (5707 E GATE BLVD, NAMPA, ID 83687, (208) 475-1110) WERE THE FAILURES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED HOWEVER THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE AIR BAGS SENSOR DID NOT COLLIDE WITH THE CONCRETE BARRIER AS A RESULT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 236,459. DP
TAKATA RECALL, ON MY 2000 FORD F-150 IT HAD VERY FEW ISSUES TILL THIS OCCURED. AT JUST OVER 130,000 MILES THE ENGINE BEGAN KNOCKING ON THE INTERSTATE AND PROGRESSIVELY GREW WORSE AS I WAS LOOKING FOR A EXIT, IT STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND I GOT IT TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE IT DIED. LATER THAT DAY I HAD A TOW TRUCK PULL IT UP TO A TRUSTED SHOP ABOUT 60 MILES AWAY. THE MECHANIC THERE SAID THAT IT DROPED A ROD AND THE CRANKSHAFT WAS SHOT. AFTER TALKING TO HIM, HE SAID THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY FREQUENT OCCURRENCE. I TOOK IT TO GET A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER SHOP A FEW MILES AWAY AND HAD THE SAME CONVERSATION. BOTH MECHANICS AND A FEW FOURMS ON THE INTERNET SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 1998-2003 AND 2004 HERITAGE, THAT HAVE THE FORD 5.4 TRITON 2V ENGINE. AT THE MECHANIC THE THE TRUCK WAS DIAGNOSED AS NONREPAREABLE ENGINE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE SWAPED OUT FOR A DIFFRENT ONE. THE COST OF THIS WAS FOR A REBUILT ENGINE BY JASPER'S BECASUE A DONOR TRUCK ENGINE WOULD BE PRONE TO THE SAME FAILURE. THE COST TO REPLACE WOULD TOTAL OUT TO BE AROUND $6500 BETWEEN PARTS AND LABOR INCLUDING THE NEW ENGINE. BE WARY OF THE FORD 5.4 2V ENGINES, THERE ARE A FEW UNICORNS OUT THERE THAT WILL NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM, BUT MOST, EVEN IF THEY HAVE REGULAR MAINTENANCE LIKE MINE WILL BE PRONE TO THIS FATE.
IN DRIVEWAY ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER WORK AND HEARD AN EXPLOSION. WENT OUTSIDE TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND THE TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. HAD BOUGHT THE TRUCK ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO. COME ACROSS RECALL ON CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH BUT NEVER HEARD OF IT UNTIL AFTER THE FIRE. HAD ABOUT $500 BRAKE JOB A MONTH BEFORE. NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE.
WHILE IN NEUTRAL THERE IS A WHINNING NOISE PUSH CLUTCH IN IT QUIETENS BUT ITS TOUGH SWITCHING INTO GEARS. IT GRINDS VERY HARD TO PUT SHIFTER IN ANY GEAR. NOW IT WHINES ALL THE TIME. AND IT GRINDS EVEN MORE NOW GOING FROM FIRST TO SECOND UPON ACCELERATING . WHEN IN REVERSE IT STUTTERS REALLY BAD IVE CHECKED ALL FLUIDS.
AROUND 4A.M I SMELLED FROM MY ROOM SOMETHING BURNING I WOKE UP LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW & SAW FIRE COMING OUT OF MY 2000 F-150 PICK UP TRUCK FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WENT OUTSIDE & TOOK THE MATTER IN MY OWN HANDS I QUICKLY GOT THE HOUSE WATER HOSE & TURNED OFF THE FLAMES. THANK GOD FIRE DID NOT REACH ANY FUEL LINES NOBODY WAS INJURED & FIRE DID NOT REACH THE HOUSE. I WAS THINKING OF HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN IF MY TRUCK WAS NOT MOVED FOR 2 DAYS & WAS JUST PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOME. I WENT AHEAD & DID SOME RESEARCH ON LINE & FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL 05S28-SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH FIRE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND UNATTENDED, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT PRESENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND A PASSERBY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEPUTY FIRE MARSHAL DIAGNOSED THAT THE FIRE WAS DUE TO THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A FAMILY FUNCTION, THE CONTACT'S RELATIVE MADE THEM AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNOCCUPIED THEREFORE THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE MATT HIKE FORD WAS NOTIFIED AND MADE THE CONTACT AWARE THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) HOWEVER THEY WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT DUE TO THE SITUATION THEIR INFORMATION WAS FORWARDED TO THE OFFICE OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
IN 2006, I CHANGED PLUGS AT 95,000 MILES AS A TUNE UP. SIX MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE #8 SPARK PLUG WAS EJECTED. HAD IT TOWED HOME, CHECKED THE THREADS AND REPLACED THE PLUG AND COIL. ON APRIL 6, 2017, AT 134,000 MILES, THE SAME PLUG WAS EJECTED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP TO INSTALL A HELICOIL REPAIR. THEY WARNED ME THAT THE NEXT FAILURE WOULD REQUIRE A HEAD REMOVAL, AND SIGNIFICANT COST. THIS IS A VERY WEAK POINT IN THIS DESIGN, FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
MULTI-CAR REAR-ENDER. FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BAG DEPLOYED, AND DRIVER'S LEFT EYE DESTROYED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE FUEL TANK STRAP BECAME DETACHED FROM THE FUEL TANK AND CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO STRIKE THE SKID PLATE OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE FUEL TANK WAS FRACTURED AND CAUSED FUEL TO SPILL OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 202,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
HAD DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES PARKED IN A LOWES PARKING LOT WENT INTO THE STORE FOR ABOUT 45MIN. ONLY TO COME OUT TO MY TRUCK ON FIRE. THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY OFF AND NO ONE WAS IN IT, AND THERE ARE ONLY 2 SETS OF KEYS ONE IN MY POCKET AND THE OTHER AT HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED. PRIOR TO DRIVING THE 5 MILES IT HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN 2 DAYS. FORD SAYS IT'S NOT THERE PROBLEM AND INSURANCE ONLY WANTS TO GIVE US $3,700.00. MY HUSBAND IS A RETIRED VETERAN AND THIS WHOLE SITUATION HAS CAUSED HIS PTSD TO BE TRIGGERED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, CONFIRMED THE RECALL, AND PROMISED TO GET BACK TO THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,263.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I STARTED TO SMELL A SLIGHT BURNING SMELL. I WAS FOLLOWING A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK AND I ASSUMED IT WAS JUST THE SMELL OF THAT TRUCKS BRAKES. A FEW MILES UP THE HIGHWAY MY TRUCK SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I PULLED OVER THATS WHEN I SAW ANOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I GRABBED MY KEYS AND POPPED THE HOOD. THATS WHEN I SAW A GOOD SIZED FLAME ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I WENT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE TRUCK AND CALLED 911. MY TRUCK QUICKLY WENT UP IN FLAMES. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND ALOT OF TRUCKS THE SAME YEAR AS MINE WERE CATCHING FIRE DUE TO A RECALL FOR THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR. I THEN LOOKED INTO THAT AND FOUND THERE WAA NO PENDING RECALL FOR THAT ISSUE FOR MY TRUCK AND COULD NOT FIND IF IT HAD BEEN DONE ON MY TRUCK PREVIOUSLY.

WHILE THE TRUCK WAS STATIONARY, AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 20 MINUTES PRIOR WE COULD SMELL A BURNING PLASTIC SMELL. A FEW SHORT MINUTES LATER THE ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE STARTED IN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND SLOWLY MAKE ITS WAY TO THE BED. THE HOOD WAS COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD PUT IT OUT. WE BELIEVE THIS WAS DUE TO THE RECALL CAMPAIGN 11S21. WE DID OWN THE VEHICLE OUT RIGHT, AND DID NOT CARRY INSURANCE, BUT MY OTHER VEHICLE HAD SOME DAMAGE AND A NUMBER OF MY HUSBANDS TOOLS WERE DESTROYED.
EXTEND CAB WITH 4 DOORS. WHERE THE REAR SEAT AND SEAT BELTS MOUNT TO THE BODY IT IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY. THE SEAT AND SEAT BELT IS LOOSE AND WILL NOT BE SECURED IN A CRASH. VERY LITTLE RUST ON THE REST OF THE CAB AND THE ROCKER PANELS ARE INTACT. HOWEVER THE SEAT BELTS FOR THE REAR PASSENGERS ON BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE ARE NOT CONNECTED.
WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK IT STARTED TO SPIT AND SPUTTER. FOUND MY NUMBER 8 SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT. MECHANIC FOUND THE THREADS ON THE SPARK PLUG AND THE ENGINE HEAD STRIPPED.
AT APPROX. 2:22 AM ON THE MORNING OF 3/4/2016, THE ENGINE BECAME ENGULFED IN FIRE AFTER HAVING BEEN PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE 3:00 PM ON 3/3/2016. WE LATER LEARNED OF A NUMBER OF RECALLS LEAD BY FORD FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A DEFECTIVE BRAKE SWITCH WHICH WOULD CAUSE THIS TYPE OF FIRE. WE CHECKED THE VIN OF THE VEHICLE WITH BOTH NHTSA AND FORD AND FOUND THAT NO RECALL WAS EFFECTIVE FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. I HAVE ATTACHED THE FIRE REPORT AND PHOTOS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS TO RESPOND TO THE DEALER AND OWNER. THE OWNER HAD PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR MONTHS. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,200.
WHILE SITTING STATIONARY WAITING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED I BEGAN TO MOVE AND EJECTED A SPARK PLUG FROM MY 5.4L TRITON ENGINE. AFTER HEARING A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE FILLED UP WITH GAS FUMES. LUCKLY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME. BUT I AM LUCKY THAT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT DID NOT CATCH FIRE FROM GAS AND VAPORS IN THE ENGINE AREA.

THE CONTACT WAS ALSO MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V385000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED, BUT THE CONTACT FAILED TO RECEIVE NOTIFICATION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD ONLY COVER THE REPAIR OF THE FUEL TANK STRAPS AND NOT THE FUEL TANK ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
SPARK PLUG BLOWING OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD BECAUSE OF BAD FACTORY THREADING AND POSSIBLY HURTING ENGINE AND MAKING TRUCK RUN IMPROPERLY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITHIN ONE YEAR ON A TRUCK AT 90K MILES. THIS NEARLY CAUSE MY TO HAVE A MULTIPLE CAR ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISING TO BOTH ARMS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE RIGHT HAND HAD NUMBNESS FROM EXPERIENCING THE FORCE OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT'S BREATHING AND VISION WERE IMPACTED WHEN THE WHITE SUBSTANCE FILLED THE VEHICLE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. MA 10/23/15 *CN
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE GAS TANK FELL OFF AND WAS DRAGGING ON THE ROAD. THE STRAPS WERE CORRODED. I HAVE ONE OF THE STRAPS.
HAVING A FUEL LEAK WHERE THE TANK IS STRAPPED TO THE VEHICLE. FORD HAS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER. I EXPECT FORD TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. IT IS TOO COINCIDENTAL TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT BE COVERED FOR A RECALL. I CANNOT AFFORD IN ANY WAY THE COST OF THE REPAIRS FOR THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE ADVISE.
MY 2000 FORD XL TRITON IS GREAT. IT HAS 201,000 MILES AND RUNS LIKE A NEW VEHICLE. MY PROBLEM IS THAT THE PAINT HAS BUBBBLED AND PEELED BACK. IT HAS LEFT SOME LIGHT RUST SPOTS UNDER THE PAINT. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT FIXED. AFTER TALKING WITH OTHER OWNERS, THEY SAID THE PROBLEM IS THE THICKNESS OF THE PAINY.
