MY 2002 FORD F-150'S TRANNY COMPLETELY BROKE AT 35,000 MILES 27 DAYS AFTER THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY WAS UP. I DON'T HAUL OR PULL ANYTHING WITH THIS TRUCK. WE ARE HAVING TO PUT A FACTORY REBUILT TRANNY IN IT AS WE SPEAK. *NM
I HAVE A 2002 FORD EXPLORER. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 85,000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE O/D LIGHT CAME ON FLASHING. THEN IT REFUSED TO SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR. IT HAS SHIFTED HARD SINCE WE PURCHASED IT USED WITH APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES ON IT. WHAT A PAIN. I HAVE BEEN TO MANY FORD FORUMS AND I SEE NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL YEAR. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS CAR PRONTO. EVERY ONE I KNOW WHO HAS THIS MAKE AND MODEL ARE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THEY NEED TO CORRECT THIS ITEM NOW. OR WE WILL JUST HAVE TO BUY JAPANESE NEXT TIME. THEY BELIEVE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE.
MY 2002 FORD EXPLORER, AT APPROX. 62,000 MILES WAS MAKING A LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR WHEELS WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS. I TOOK IT TO A GOODYEAR SERVICE CENTER & WAS TOLD THEY'VE SERVICED AT LEAST 6-7 OF THE 2002 EXPLORERS FOR THE SAME ISSUE- SOME WITH ONLY 30,000 MILES. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS POOR DESIGN ON FORD'S PART OF THE WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY? IT COST ME OVER $300 TO FIX THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY- THEY HAD TO REPLACE A ROTOR IN THE PROCESS BECAUSE WATER GOT IN WHERE THE SEAL BROKE AND RUSTED TO THE ROTOR AND HAD TO BE CUT OFF. THEY SAID THE SEAL IS BAD ON THE ASSEMBLY AND THE WHOLE WHEEL ASSEMBLY COMES APART. THEY SAVED PARTS TO SHOW ME & SAID IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE (REAR WHEEL COULD COME OFF). I'M VERY ANGRY- I'M NOW HEARING THE SAME HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL. I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE, YET FORD HAS NOT HAD A RECALL?!? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO MY CAR WITH MY DAUGHTER INSIDE, FORD WILL HAVE A HUGE LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS. I HAVE BEEN VERY DISSATISFIED WITH MY FORD EXPLORER. THE CAR HAS ALSO FAILED TO START INTERMITTENTLY SINCE IT WAS NEW. EACH OF THE 4-5 TIMES I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, I AM TOLD THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE ISSUE AND THAT FORD HAS SERVICE GUIDELINES AND THEY CANNOT TEAR MY CAR APART TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I HAD ANOTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUE WHERE FOR OVER A YEAR I'D BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT WOULD SUDDENLY GO ON & THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND BUZZERS WOULD SOUND. NUMEROUS TRIPS TO THE DEALER, AND THEY COULD NEVER RECREATE. FINALLY IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS SO BAD THAT THEY FINALLY HEARD WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT & REPLACED SOME REAR HATCH LOCK. IT SEEMED OK....UNTIL A WEEK LATER WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT STILL DOES IT INTERMITTENTLY, BUT I AM SO SICK OF TAKING IT IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THEN I THINK THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN GOING AS WELL- IT STICKS WHEN YOU TRY TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. *NM
I BOUGHT MY TRUCK UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT I WOULDN'T NEED TO DO A MAJOR TUNEUP UNTIL 100,000 MILES. PRIOR TO THAT, I HAD TO GET ONE AT 60,000 MILES, 3-5 MONTHS AFTER THAT ONE OF MY SPARK PLUGS SHOT OUT OF THE MOTOR, LEADING TO HAVING TO HAVE THE HEAD REPLACE. I RECEIVED NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION ON WHAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THAT OR WHY WOULD IT HAPPENED. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD WANTED TO CHARGE ME 3,600 DOLLARS TO FIX IT. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH A FORD F150 OR HAD THERE BEEN SOME KIND OF RECALL? IF SO, IS THERE SOME KIND OF LEGAL ACTION I CAN TAKE AGAINST FORD FOR THIS . *TR
REF 2002 FORD EXPLORER, TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THIRD GEAR WENT OUT AT 57,000 MILES. BEACH FORD REPLACED. HAVE NEVER GOTTEN THE GEARS SYNCRONIZED. HAVE TO TOUCH GEAR SHIFT SOMETIMES TO PUT IN GEAR. TONIGHT CAR IS BACK AT BEACH FORD WITH A TRANSMISSION PUMP LEAK. REPORTED THIS CAR LAST WEEK FOR ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *NM
I WAS DRIVING IN GERMANY ROAD BACK HOME WHEN SUDDENLY A HARD BANG UNDER THE HOOD AND THEN THERE WAS A NOISE LIKE THE HOLE MUFFLER WAS GONE AND I LOST POWER, I BARLY COULD PARK MY TRUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON A VERY DANGEROUS PLACE WITH A LOT OF TRAFFIC. I HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY, IT TOOK 4 HOURS, NEXT DAY A GARAGE OWNER FROM A BOSH WORKSHOP PUT IN A REPLACEMENT INSERTCOIL WITH A NEW SPARK PLUG. IT COST OVER THE 450 EURO'S TO PAY IN ADVANCE WHIT NO WARANTY. *JB
2002 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE INSIDE OF THE PASSENGER CABIN WHILE PARKED.*MR *JB
THE CONSUMER HAS NOTICED A DISCREPANCY IN THE MPG THE MANUFACTURER SAID THE VEHICLE WOULD GET AND THE ACTUAL MPG THE 2002 FORD F150 GET. *MR THE CONSUMER CLAIMED THAT HE NEVER GETS MORE THAN 11 MPG WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY, ON LONG DISTANCE TRIPS, WHILE PULLING A TRAILER OR WHILE DRIVING EMPTY. *NM
DT: 2002 FORD F150. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MINUTES WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO SEE WHY IT HAPPENED. THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS RESPONDED, AND A FIRE AND POLICE REPORTS WERE TAKEN. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS, AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN SERVICED RECENTLY. THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE, THE VINYL SIDING MELTED AND CAME OFF THE HOUSE. *AK
CONTINUOUS ROARING NOISE COMING FROM REAR OF OUR 2002 FORD EXPLORER. WAS DETERMINED THAT REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS BAD. IF IT WOULD HAVE GONE OUT WHILE DRIVING, TRUCK COULD HAVE LOCKED UP. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE THAT WAS A BIG SAFETY CHANCE TO TAKE. OUT OF WARRANTY ON MILES. (BUT NOT ON 3 YEARS).SO IT COST US $1900 OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR. HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD FORD IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *JB
AUTO ACCIDENT AND DRIVER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I SUFFERED INJURIES TO ANKLES, FRACTURE TO RIGHT LEG, BRUISES TO CHEST AREA AND HIP AREA. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO FORD FOR THEIR RECORDS.
(1) WITHOUT WARNING THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON DUE TO A FAILURE OF A HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT, WHICH WOULD HAVE ULTIMATELY LEAD TO A FAILURE OF THE ABS SYSTEM IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE AWARENESS OF THE DRIVER. THE FAILURE OF THE ABS COULD HAVE LEAD TO AN EVEN GREATER CATASTROPHE THAN JUST THE COST OF PARTS AND LABOR. (2) IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THROUGH MY RESEARCH AND THE WORD OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT BOZEMAN FORD DEALERSHIP IN BOZEMAN, MONTANA THAT THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM IS NOT UNHEARD OF. IN FACT, IT HAS BECOME ENOUGH OF A PROBLEM THAT FORD HAS MADE AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BY REPLACING THE OLD HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WITH ANOTHER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT, IN ADDITION TO AN ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT AND A BRACKET THAT MOUNTS THE TWO TOGETHER. ALTHOUGH FORD HAS MADE AN ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, THEY HAVE NOT MADE ANY STRIDES IN ISSUING A RECALL FOR THE FAULTY HCU. INSTEAD OF REPLACING A $300 PART (WHICH ISN'T EVEN MANUFACTURED ANY MORE) THREE NEW PARTS ARE TO BE INSTALLED A PRICE OF NEARLY $1000 INCLUDING LABOR. (3) THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP BEING REPAIRED, AND APPARENTLY WE WILL BE STUCK WITH THE ENTIRE COST OF THE LARGER FIGURE ABOVE, SIMPLY BECAUSE FORD DOES UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS IN FACT A PROBLEM WITH THE HCU, BUT FAILS TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT, BY REFUSING TO PLACE THE PART UNDER WARRANTY OR ISSUING A RECALL A THE SUB-PAR HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT.
REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, DROVE NORMALLY FOR 8 OR 9,000 MILES, WENT TO OHIO AND BACK .THEN DROVE TO WORK ON THE 19TH, HEARD A POP AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO RUN ROUGH. WHEN I GOT OF WORK I LOOKED AT THE TRUCK AND FOUND THE NUMBER THREE PLUG WAS EJECTED OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD.
TURNED CAR INTO PARKING LOT, HAD FOOT ON BRAKE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. FINALLY, WITH MUCH PUMPING OF THE BRAKE, IT FINALLY STOPPED. NEARLY HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. *JB
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2002 FORD F-150. AT ABOUT 70,000 MILES A SPARK BLEW OUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL PLUG. HAD TO HAVE HELICOIL INSTALLED. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, MY 2001 EXPEDITION HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS WAS ALSO THE ORIGINAL PLUGS, BUT THIS MOTOR ONLY HAD 60,000 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY, THE FORD DEALER I HAD IT TOWED TO WOULD NOT PERFORM HELICOIL, SO I HAD TO REPLACE THE HEAD. THEY SAID FORD DID NOT RECOMMEND HELICOIL. SO I HAVE OWNED 2 FORDS WITHIN 1 YEAR OF EACH OTHER AND BOTH HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH PLUGS. IT'S APPARENT THAT FORD HAS A DESIGN FLAW. I HEARD FROM A FORD DEALER THAT THE NEWER BODY STYLE OF F-150 HAS HAD A CORRECTION IN THE THREAD DESIGN IN THE HEADS. *TR
WAS HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES IT WOULD START, SOMETIMES IT WOULDN'T. *TR
DT: CONTACT STATES HER VEHICLE IS STALLING WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE ONLY THING THAT SIGNALS THAT THE VEHICLE IS STALLING IS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL JERK AND RPMS DROP. THIS HAPPENS WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING EVERYDAY. THE SERVICE DEALER CAN NOT DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT IS TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEALER TODAY. *NM
THIS PROBLEM BEGAN WHEN THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP. WE DIDN'T FIND OUT THE REAL PROBLEM UNTIL ABOUT A FEW MONTHS AGO. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS NO FIX HAVE TO LEAVE WITH THE PROBLEM. WHEN YOU ARE GOING AT SLOW SPEEDS WITH THE VEHICLE YOU ARE UNABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID ITS THE BOOSTER IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS DESIGNED THEY ONLY BUT ONE FOR THE BRAKES AND THE STEERING. SO WHEN YOU BRAKE AT ANYTIME YOU NO LONGER HAVE STEERING. THIS MEANS YOUR ANTILOCK BRAKES WILL NOT WORK. WE HAVE HAD A MINOR ACCIDENT NO ONE HURT AND NOT ENOUGH DAMAGE TO CLAIM. BUT THERE HAS BEEN MANY CLOSE CALLS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE WENT TO FORD AND THEY SAY LIVE WITH IT. LAWYERS SAY THERE IS A SUIT BUT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO HANDLE UNLESS A WRECK AND SOMEONE GETS HURT OR DIES THEN THEY WOULD CONSIDER THE CAUSE. EVEN THE WORKERS AT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS A SAFETY PROBLEM BUT FORD TOLD THEM NOT TO EVEN TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY COME IN BECAUSE THERE IS NO FIX. SINCE THIS MISDESINGED THEY HAVE RE-DESIGNED THE NEW 2003 TO HAVE 2 BOOSTER TO CONTROL ONE FOR THE BRAKES AND ONE FOR THE STEERING. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THERE IS AN ACCIDENT WHERE SOMEONE GETS HURT. THANKS DENISE. *NM
WHILE HAVING MY VEHICLE SERVICED TODAY, I ASKED MY MECHANIC TO CHECK A SHAKING IN THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK. I FIRST NOTICED THE SHAKING ON JULY 3RD, 2005. WHEN HE CALLED, HE TOLD ME THAT I HAD TWO DEFECTIVE TIRES, AND THEY WERE TO THE POINT THAT THE WIRES WERE PUSHING THROUGH THE RUBBER. THE LAST TIME MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, IN MAY, THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH MY TIRES.
THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF MY VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSTATE WAS THAT THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH WHICH IN TURN WOULD TRIGGER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE FAILURE WAS A SHOT TRANSMISSION AT ONLY 60,000 MILES. A PROBLEM THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNOWS ABOUT FROM THE HUNDREDS OF TECH BULLETIN'S I'VE READ. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO ADAMSON FORD IN BIRMINGHAM,ALA. AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING TROUBLE CODES,P0733,P0735,P0775 AND A FAULTY POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. AFTER RECEIVING MY CAR AND ALMOST $800.00 LATER,THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT STARTED BLINKING TRIGGERING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AFTER RETURNING TO THE DEALER WHOM THEN INFORMS ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY A REMANUFACTURER TRANSMISSION AT OVER $2200,00 PLUS LABOR. I CAN'T AFFORD THIS AND NOW I'M STUCK WITH A LATER MODEL CAR THAT I CAN'T USE, AND A HIGH CAR NOTE. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN PERIOD. *JB
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 15 MPH AND LOST CONTROL DUE TO A CODDER PIN SNAPPING IN HALF CAUSING THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL TO COME ENTIRELY OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THE DISK BRAKE STAYED CONNECTED TO THE RIM AND WAS ALSO REMOVED ENTIRELY FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE BRAKE LINES TO BE SEVERED WHICH CAUSED NO PRESSURE. WITH NO PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE LINES I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP THE OTHER WHEELS BUT WAS FORCED TO LET THE VEHICLE COME TO A SKIDDING STOP, WHICH HAPPENED BY HITTING A TREE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE A YEAR PRIOR THEY HAD WORKED ON THE SAME WHEEL TO PACK THE BEARINGS AND DO OTHER SMALL MAINTENANCE. BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CLAIMED NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ACCIDENT, WHICH SEEMS STRANGE SINCE A VEHICLES WHEEL SHOULD REMAIN ON WHEN GOING 15 MPH.
DT: CONSUMER STATES HIS VEHICLE ROLLED OVER AND SLID FOR APPROXIMATELY 75 FEET AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOTALED AND IT HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED AS TO WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER STATES HE HAS A NECK SPRAIN AND A COUPLE OTHER THINGS AND HIS SON WAS ALSO INJURED. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT TAKEN, #10900633. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT MILE MARKER 95.1 ON EAST BOUND OHIO TURNPIKE 8090 ON JUNE 28, 2005. *NM
I HAVE HAD 5 FORD VEHICLES THAT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS HAS BLOWN THROUGH THE HEAD OF EACH VEHICLE. 1 F-150,2 F-250, 2 EXPEDITIONS, NO WARNING IN ADVANCE IT JUST MAKES A LOUD BANG AND YOUR DISABLED. $ 3,800 TO FIX EACH ONE. I REALLY NEED TO KNOW IF ANYTHING CAN BE DONE BECAUSE I HAVE 6 MORE VEHICLES THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN TO. PLEASE RESPOND.
SHUDDER IN DRIVETRAIN AT SLOW/IDLE SPEED. FORD DEALER REPLACED DRIVE SHAFT, AND TRANSFER CASE - DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. STILL DO NOT HAVE ANY ANSWERS OR FIXES. *NM
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A 2 LANE ROAD IN MY 2002 FORD F-150 "HARLEY DAVISON" PICK-UP TRUCK DOING THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT (50 MPH), I QUICKLY TRIED TO AVOID FROM REARENDING A MID-MODEL 1990 FORD AEROSTAR PASSENGER VAN, AT A SPEED BETWEEN 35-45MPH. AFTER IMPACTING THE REAR END OF THE VAN, THE AIR BAG(S) ON MY AIR BAG EQUIPED VEHICLE "DID NOT DEPLOY". MY SEAT BELT WAS BEING USED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND MYSELF HAD TO TAKE A LOSS OF THE VEHICLE, DUE TO THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE DONE TO MY VEHICLE.
SPARK PLUG BLOWN OUT/STRIPED OUT OF CYLNIDER HEAD
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F150. THE REAR END DIFFERENTIAL MADE A WHINING NOISE. THEY TOLD HIM THAT IT WILL NOT HURT THE VEHICLE BUT IT WAS NOT NORMAL SINCE THE JUNE 16,2005 CONTACT WAS TRYING TO GET VEHICLE FIXED. THEY REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION TWICE, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX THE VEHICLE. TECHNICIAN AT DEALERSHIP SAID HE OWNED THE SAME VEHICLE AND IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. THE DEALERSHIPS LAUGHED WHEN CONTACT BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO BE FIXED. AT 40-45 MPH CONTACT COULD HEAR THE NOISE ,AND IF WHEN PULLING TA LOAD THE NOISE GOT WORSE. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, BUT FORD KEPT SENDING WRONG PARTS THAT WERE NOT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. CONTACT HAS HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON VEHICLE. *AK *NM
PURCHASED A 2002 FORD EXPLORER NEW. WITH LESS THAN 45,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT. CAR NOW HAS LESS THAN 65000 MILES AND THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACE. FORD WILL NOT OFFER ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. RAPHAEL
I PURCHASED 4 NEW GOODYEAR FORTERA TIRES 8/2004 AND HAD FREEWAY BLOW OUTS ON 3 OF THE 4 TIRES WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES ON EACH TIRE. BLOW OUTS OCCURED 2 IN MAY AND 1 IN JUNE. I REPLACED THE FIRST 2 AGAIN WITH FORTERA TIRES, BUT AFTER BLOW #3 I REQUESTED THAT GOODYEAR PRORATE ALL TIRES SO I COULD REPLACE WITH ANOTHER BRAND BUT THEY REFUSED. GIVEN THIS EXPERIENCE I BELIEVE THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE TESTED AND POSSIBLY RECALLED. I HAVE A 2002 FORD F-150 SUPERCREW PICKUP. THERE HAVE BEEN RECORDED INCEDENTS OF FAILURE OF THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCHES CAUSING FIRE OF THE VEHICLE AND ADJOINING PROPERTY. ON INCIDENT THAT OCCURED IN CORPU CHRISTI, TX IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND THAT FIRE WAS IN 2003 INVOLVING A 2002 SUPERCREW. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER ABOUT HAVING THE SWITCH REPLACED AND TO MY SHOCK/SURPRISE, 2002 SUPERCREWS ARE NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. THE SWITCH IS $15.00 AND I COULD BUY ONE, BUT I'M ON TOTAL DISABILITY AND CANT REPLACE IT MYSELF. I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO PUT THE HEAT UNDER FORD TO INCLUDE 2002 SUPERCREWS ON THE RECALL LIST. I DID DISABLE THE SWITCH, BUT IT MAKES IT WORTHLESS USING THE SPEED CONTROL. THANKS!
I RECEIVE STORM DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE. DURING THE PROCESS OF REPAIRING THE VEHICLE WE SUSTAIN INJURIES FROM THE WINDSHIELD FIBERS AND GLASS, IN THE VENTS WHICH THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT THE GLASS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE. THE TRUCK HAS A DEFECT IN THE HEAT CONTROL AND THE RADIO PANEL GET EXTREMELY HOT. WE INHALE THE FIBER FROM THE GLASS , IT GOT IN OUR EYES, STINGING AND ITCHING, ETC. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS MAY BE A PRODUCT PROBLEM. *NM
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF HEAD ON MY 2002 FORD F150 (5.4L TRITON V8) PICKUP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MOTOR. NO WARNING, EVERYTHING WAS WORKING PROPERLY THEN IT JUST BLEW WHILE DRIVING. LOST POWER & COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TRUCK HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. HEAD IS BEING REPLACED, TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. TIME TO GET IT BACK WILL BE ABOUT A WEEK & A HALF.
I PURCHASED A USED 2002 FORD F150 4X4 FROM THE MANAGER OF A FORD DEALERSHIP. WITHIN 7 MONTHS A SPARK PLUG BLEW, WE DID NOT KNOW IT WAS SUCH A PROBLEM BUT WE REPAIRED IT AND A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN WE REPAIRED IT THINKING MAYBE WE DID NOT REPAIR THE FIRST ONE CORRECTLY. THEN A MONTH LATER IT DID IT AGAIN. I SEARCHED WEB SITES AND SAW IT WAS A GREATER PROBLEM. I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP-(WHICH SAY THEY CAN NOT REALLY SAY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS EXACTLY?) IT COULD BE FROM A BLOWN SPARK PLUG.. BUT REFUSE TO GIVE THAT AS A REASON? I WONDER WHY? SO THEY HAVE QUOTED ME ABOUT $3200.00 IN REPAIRS NOT INCLUDING LABOR, WHICH WILL TAKE IT UP TO ABOUT $5000.00!!! I CAN NOT AFFORD THIS AS IT TOOK EVERYTHING FOR ME TO PAY FOR THIS TRUCK, WHICH I FEEL WAS SOLD TO ME BY THE DEALERSHIP AND EVEN THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE TRUCK THAT KNEW OF A PROBLEM AND DID NOT DISCLOSE IT TO ME. DT: IN JUNE WHILE OWNER WAS SITTING THERE WAS A HONKING NOISE. OWNER WAS UNAWARE IF THE HONKING WAS FROM OTHER CARS OR FROM THE ALARM. THEN ,HE HEARD A LOUD POP. HE WENT OUTSIDE AND SAW THE TRUCK ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE TRUCK HAD BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 14.5 MILES FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE BEING PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES IN DRIVEWAY. WHEN OWNER SAW THE FIRE THE TRUCK WAS ALREADY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE WAS COMING FROM THE HOOD. IT BURNED FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FIRE, IT TOOK ABOUT 5 MINUTES FOR THEM TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS ON IN THE VEHICLE NOR ANY OTHER TYPE OF WARNING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND OWNER DIDN'T REALLY USE THE CRUISE CONTROL. THERE WERE NO OTHER MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE OWNER WAS UNAWARE OF ANY RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.. PART OF THE GARAGE BURNED AS WELL. THE FIRE REPORT STATED THAT THE BRAKE DEACTIVATING SWITCH WITHIN THE MASTER CYLINDER CAUSED THE FIRE. THE FIRE REPORT IS AVAILABLE FOR INVESTIGATORS TO VIEW. THE FIRE REPORT STATED THE FIRE WAS MOSTLY CONCENTRATED IN THE LEFT REAR COMPARTMENT OF ENGINE. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT.*AK

WE RECIEVED A RECALL NOTICE ON TWO OF OUR FORD EXPLORERS. IT WAS CONCERNING THE GLASS IN THE LIFT GATE. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE GLASS COULD FALL OUT AND INJURE THE PERSON OPENNING THE WINDOW. WE HAD THE RECALL DONE ON TWO OF OUR VEHICLES. ABOUT 90 DAYS AFTER WE HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED THE GLASS DID FALL OUT ON ONE OF OUR DETECTIVES. WE HAD THE WINDOW FIXED AND FORD CHARGED US 1029.67 FOR THE REPAIR. OUR CONCERN IS TWO FOLD. OBVIOUSLY THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM STILL PERSIST AND THE SAFTY ISSUE IS A FACTOR. ALSO WE FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD KNOW THAT THE PROBLEM IS STILL PRESENT AND STAND BEHIND THE REPAIR AND FIGURE OUT ANOTHER FIX. ON TWO SEPERATE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY 2002 FORD F150 HARLEY-DAVIDSON PICKUP THERE WAS A LOUD BANG FROM UNDER THE HOOD THEN VEHICLE WOULD BARELY RUN.TURNS OUT THAT I BLEW A SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD EACH OF THE TWO TIMES.BOTH TIMES WERE THE RIGHT SIDE HEAD AND THE WERE THE REAR TWO PLUGS.SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT.THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT HAPPENS WHETHER ON THE HIGHWAY OR STREETS.
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED. SEAT BELT FEMALE END WILL NOT ALLOW MALE END TO CONNECT. VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SENT IN FOR REPAIRS.
DT: CONSUMER WAS EMERGENCY BRAKING AND HAD TO YIELD TO AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE BUT BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE OR STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS BRAKING SITUATION HAD BEEN WITNESS AND VERIFIED BY 2 EXPERTS WITH NO KNOWN VERIFIED CAUSE. INSPECTIONS HAVE CONCLUDED THAT ALL CURRENT PARTS WERE WITHIN MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES. THIS WAS THE ONLY INCIDENT WITH BRAKES. DROVE VEHICLE HOME, PARKED IT , AND TOOK IT TO REPAIR SHOP THE NEXT DAY. *AK
WATER LEAK FROM THE WINDSHIELD INTO THE DASH BOARD DAMAGING ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS FOR THE AMOUNT OVER $800.00, THE VEHICLE IS A 2002 FORD 150, IT HAD A THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT ONLY 33,000 MILES BUT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY FOR ABOUT 5 WEEKS. THEREFORE THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT WITHOUT A CHARGE.

CONSUMER STATED THEY HAD NO PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. IT CAUGHT FLAMES AROUND 25 MINUTES AFTER IT HAD BEEN PARKED. FIRE CAUSED SMOKE DAMAGE TO INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF CONSUMER'S HOME. *AK
WAS DRIVING A 2002 FORD RANGER AND HIT A CAR BROADSIDE AND THEN HIT A UTILITY POLE AND AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY.
I HAVE A 2002 FORD EXPLORER, I SAW ON THE NEWS THERE HAS BEEN REPORTS OF IDDLE PROBLEMS. I HAVE NOTICED WHEN I REVERSE AT TIMES IT REVS UP EVEN WHEN MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE GAS. I ALSO HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM WHEN I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AT A CONSTANT SPEED THE ENGINE RPM ALL THE SUDDEN IDDLES FAST ANS REVS THE ENGINE UP I HAVE TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. THIS PROBLEMS HAS ONLY LASTED A FEW SECONDS THEN GOES BACK TO NORMAL. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR IDDLE FAST ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AND I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM TWICE WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN TO REVERSE.
2002 FORD PICK UP TRUCK ENGINE EJECTED A SPARK PLUG WHILE DRIVING.*MR THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AS IF HE APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE MECHANIC TOLD THE CONSUMER THE THREADS HAD BEEN STRIPPED FROM THE HEAD WHEN THE PLUG WAS EJECTED. *JB THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE.
NO WARNING-UPON ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE SHIFT SELECTOR INTO "R", THE ENTIRE SHIFT SELECTOR BROKE IN HALF AT THE SHAFT CONNECTION INSIDE THE COLUMN . THE STRUCTURE APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED FROM A MATERIAL OFTEN REFERRED TO AS "POT-LEAD". HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED HOME AT MY PERSONAL EXPENSE. COULD NOT DISENGAGE TRANSMISSION FROM THE "PARK" POSITION AND COULD NOT REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY. *JB
WE HAVE OWNED OUR 2002 F150 4 DOOR TRUCK FOR 5 MONTHS NOW PURCHASED IN DEC 04', WE HAVE 34,000 MILES ON THIS TRUCK WHICH WAS PURCHASED USED. ON SATURDAY 4/23/05 OUR TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY SLIPPED OUT LEAVING US NO POWER ON A BUSY, HILLY, COUNTRY ROAD. THE TRUCK'S RMP'S WOULD GO UP HOWEVER, THE TRUCK WAS NOT GAINING SPEED ONLY LOSING SPEED, WE ARE VERY LUCKY THAT NO ONE CAME OVER THE HILL, OR THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR WRECK. ONCE WE GOT US AND VEHICLE TO SAFETY WE CALLED OUR FORD DEALERSHIP CHUCK ANDERSON FORD, WHO TOLD US TO HAVE IT TOWED IN. HOWEVER, THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE TOW SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE EVIDENTLY WENT OUT OF WARRANTY ON FEB. 14TH OF THIS YEAR 2005. I DON'T BELIEVE A TRUCK WITH ONLY 34,000 MILES ON IT SHOULD HAVE A TRANSMISSION BLOWN IN IT. WE THEN HAD THE TRUCK TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE DEALERSHIP TODAY, WHICH WE WE'RE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO COVER THE DEDUCTIBLE OF $400/500.00 FOR THIS REPAIR. THEY ARE NOW TEARING THE TRANSMISSION APART. *AK
MY VEHICLE IS A 2002 F-150 AND THE CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONED. I TOOK IT IN TO BE REPAIRED AND LEARNED THAT THE DEACTIVATION SWITCH LEAKED BREAK FLUID INTO THE SERVO CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT. I ALSO LEARNED THAT FORD HAS ADMITTED THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM IN VEHICLES FROM 1997 TO 2003, BUT HAVE ONLY RECALLED 2000 AND 2001 YEAR MODELS. THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $380 AND I THINK FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS COST
I PURCHASED MY 2002 FORD F150 SUPER CREW IN AUGUST OF 2002. I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND HAVE HAD NO RESPONSES OR ASSISTANCE FROM ANY FORD DEALERSHIPS. THE PROBLEMS STARTED OUT WITH MY RADIO GOING ON AND OFF ALL ON ITS OWN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 10 TIMES ALONE FOR THIS PROBLEM. NEVER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE PROBLEMS ESCALATED AROUND 40,000 MILES AND MY WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMED TO BE SHORTING OUT. I HAVE HAD FIRE UNDER THE DASH, THE HEADLIGHTS NOT WORK, THE WIPERS WOULD ONLY WORK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, SAME THING WITH THE HEATER, IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF AFTER YOU SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. NOW THIS WEEK I HAD ANOTHER FIRE WHICH I WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT ON MY OWN. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM WITH THE GEM MODULE AND CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX. APPARENTLY THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PUT TOGETHER CORRECTLY AND THESE MODULES KEEP SHORTING OUT CAUSING MY VEHICLES PROBLEMS. I HAVE TO WONDER EVERYDAY WHETHER OR NOT MY VEHICLE IS GOING TO CATCH FIRE AND BURN UP. ON A DAILY BASIS I CAN SMELL SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH ALMOST LIKE BURNING PLASTIC OR WIRING. NONE OF THE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED AND SEEM TO BE ESCALATING. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT I WOULD BE TRAVELING WITH MY FAMILY AND THE CAR CATCH FIRE WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND REPAIRED. IN MID APRIL 2005, AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2002 FORD EXPLORER HOME (HAD@32,000 MILES), THE CAR JUST DIED WITHIN 2 SECONDS. NO WARNING AT ALL. I LOST ALL POWER, THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED AND THAT WAS IT. FORD TOWED THE CAR (AS IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY) AND SAID THAT THE FUEL PUMP WENT AND THAT CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE EVEN STARTED FOR ME. THANK GOD MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THAT I WASN"T HIT FROM BEHIND. AFTER THEY "FIXED " THE CAR AND AFTER WE PAID $600 FOR A 30,000 MILE MAINTENANCE, 6 WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPPENS TO MY HUSBAND. HE'D JUST DRIVING ALONG, THE CAR LOSES POWER WITHIN SECONDS AND COMPLETELY DIES WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR EVEN ANY TIME TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!!! (THE CAR NOW HAS 33,500 MILES). IT IS CURRENTL STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP BEING "FIXED". EE FEEL LIKE WE'VE ESCAPED SERIOUS ACCIDENTS TWICE NOW, AS WE COULD HAVE SO EASILY BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND BOTH TIMES. NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD AGAIN.
