TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F 150 FX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LAMP ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED BUT WAS ALE TO BE RESTARTED YET THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WERE UNABLE TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT ANY SPEED FROM 10 MPH TO 70 MPH THE TRUCK WILL GO INTO SAFE MODE (LIMP-HOME MODE) GOING DOWN TO 5 MPH AND LOSING ALL POWER STEERING. WHEN DIAGNOSED IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT GOES INTO SAFETY MODE AND I LOSE ALL POWER STEERING. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS??? IT WILL COST ME AROUND $1000.00 TO FIX PER BRONDES FORD IN TOLEDO OHIO AND I AM TOLD FORD HAS 2 OR 3 VEHICLES A WEEK COME IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. TO ME THIS IS NOT STANDARD MAINTENANCE.
THE TRUCK HAD SEVERAL CRANK-NO START PROBLEMS. IT CONTINUED OVER A PERIOD OF A FEW WEEKS. VEHICLE FINALLY GOT TO THE POINT IT WOULD NOT RESTART. IT WAS A LITTLE HESITANT AT TIMES WHEN RUNNING AND I WAS AFRAID IT WOULD DIE ON ME IN TRAFFIC. WE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK ON VEHICLE IN BEGINNING AND RETRIEVED CODE FOR THE CAM SENSOR. WE REPLACED AND IT DROVE FINE FOR ONE WEEK. THAT'S THE POINT WHERE IT WOULD NOT START. WE HAD TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND UPON THEIR DIAGNOSIS HAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WIRE HARNESS FROM THE FICM TO PCM AND TO THE INJECTORS HAD SHORTS IN IT. I HAVE READ ON A PREVIOUS RECALL # 05V270000, WHERE THE FICM WIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED. I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS RELATED, BUT THE DEALERSHIP HAS GIVEN US A PRICE OF $2600.00 TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE AN ENGINE WIRING HARNESS SHOULD BE DESIGNED TO LAST LONGER THAN 6 YEARS. *TR
2005 F150 STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING SOMETIMES AT HIGHSPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. IT HAPPENED VERY FREQUENTLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED REPLACING AT APPROX $750.00 AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A TYPICAL REPAIR FOR THIS VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. PRIOR TO REPAIRING I STALLED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE HIGH SPEED LANE AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE LEFT HAND OF THE 4 LANE HIGHWAY WHICH I WAS FORTUNATE NOT TO BE HIT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
MY FORD F-150, 2005 MODEL HAS A WHEEL BEARING DEFECT THAT CAUSES BEARING FAILURE AND BRAKE WOBBLE DUE TO THE WEAK BEARINGS THAT'S ON 2004-2009 FORD F-150- 2WD TRUCKS. THE BEARINGS CAN'T BE CHANGED UNLESS YOU PURCHASE THE ENTIRE INSTALLATION (ROTORS, ABS HUB BEARING AND ONE-TIME USE NUT.) FORD KNOWS THAT THE BEARINGS ARE WEAK BUT WILL NOT AUTHORIZE A REPAIR UNLESS YOU USE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. FORD PUT OUT A BULLETIN TO USE 4X4 PARTS ON THE 2WD VEHICLE. THE 4X4 PARTS INCLUDES 3 PIECES WHICH INCLUDED A MORE DURABLE AND HARDER BEARING THAN WHAT COMES ON THE 2WD. THERE IS ONLY ONE PLACE IN TEXAS THAT WILL DUE THIS REPAIR (JUST BRAKES.) THE REPAIR IS 300.00 PER SIDE BUT IS A PERMANENT FIX FOR THE WEAK BEARINGS. ALSO EACH PART CAN BE CHANGE INDIVIDUALLY. FORD WILL SELL YOU THE PARTS BUT THEY WILL NOT MAKE THIS REPAIR TO YOUR VEHICLE. THE BEARINGS HAVE A CONSTANT HUMMING NOISE AND THE BIGGEST MISTAKE THAT IS MADE IS THAT. THE NUT IS NOT CHANGE WHEN THE BREAKS ARE BEARINGS ARE REPLACED. BY NOT CHANGING THE NUT THE TORQUE VALUE CAN'T BE REACHED AGAIN. I HAD THIS REPAIR DONE AT JUST BRAKES AND MY TRUCK HASN'T RIDEN THIS WELL IN 2 YRS. FORD NEEDS TO BE REQUESTED TO REIMBURSE ALL OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS MATTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE THEY WERE WARPED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE STEERING TO WHEEL TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND BRAKING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED TWICE WITHIN 7,000 MILES OF DRIVING. THE DEALER HAD NOT GIVEN A REASON FOR WHY THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
ATTEMPTED TO HAVE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED IN ACCORDANCE WITH VEHICLE MAINTENANCE MANUAL AT 100,000 MILE. WHILE THIS WAS BEING DONE 3 FACTORY INSTALLED MOTORCRAFT SPARK PLUGS BROKE OFF. AS A RESULT I WAS CHARGED A TOTAL OF ALMOST $700 FOR THE REMOVAL OF THESE BROKEN PLUGS. THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT 100% OF ALL 2004-2007 F150 TRUCKS THAT HAVE THE PLUGS REMOVED AS REQUIRED AT 100,000 MILES HAVE PLUGS THAT BREAK. FORD NOR THE DEALERSHIP WOULD COVER THE COST OF THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND DEFECTIVE FORD DESIGN. *TR
POOR QUALITY PAINT ON MY 2005 FORD F-150. IT HAS BEGUN PEELING AND EXPOSING THE PRIMER. *TR
THERE IS A OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE MANIFOLDS ON THIS TRUCK. MY TRUCK IS AN FX4 AND RARELY SEEN ANY OFF ROADING. MY MANIFOLDS ARE CRACKED AND THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BABIED THIS RESULTS IN A VERY ANNOYING NOISE. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION HAD BE REPLACED AT 30,000 MILES UNDER WARRANTY, THE NEW ONE IS STILL SLIPPING. *TR
TRUCK WOULD IDLE EXTREMELY BAD, WHEN YOU CUT IT OFF IT WOULDN'T START. THIS STARTED HAPPENING ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 2010. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO FIRESTONE AND THEY RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH AT THE TIME DID NOT SHOW THE THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM BECAUSE THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME. HOWEVER, FIRESTONE REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER, DID A TUNE UP AND REPLACED THE BATTERY AND REMOVED THE GAS TANK TO CLEAN IT BUT THIS STILL DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM AND THIS COST ME $369. THE TRUCK WAS THEN TAKEN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND ON THE WAY THERE THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT DID COME ON. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED US AFTER THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT WE NEEDED A THROTTLE BODY AND ELECTRONIC EGR VALVE WHICH WILL COST $1330.00. *TR
SPARK PLUGS BREAKING OFF IN ENGINE HEAD BECAUSE OF POOR DESIGN. JUST HAPPENED TO ME AND AFTER LOOKING AROUND THE INTERNET IT HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE AND NOW THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS IT COMMON AND NOW THEY ARE CHARGING ME BECUASE THEY BROKE IT AND ITS COMMON. *TR
ON CERTAIN MODEL FORD VEHICLES USING THEIR 5.4 LITER ENGINE (WHICH INCLUDES FORD/LINCOLN MODELS) THE SPARK PLUGS ARE OF A 3 PART DESIGN WHICH WILL SEPARATE AND SHOOT OUT OF THE TOP OF THE ENGINE WHILE RUNNING CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH AND EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL SERVICE MANAGERS BUT FORD REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE FOR EVERY VEHICLE REPAIR IS A 1500.00 REPAIR BILL FOR THE DEALER/FORD. FOR PEOPLE WHOM DON'T HAVE 1500.00 TO REPLACE SPARK PLUGS WHICH SHOULD BE A 50.00 REPAIR, THEY REMAIN AT RISK. *TR
WEBASTO - HOLLANDIA 700 SERIES SUNROOF BLEW OFF TRUCK GOING 70 MILES PER HOUR. THE VEHICLE IS A 2005 FORD F-150 KING RANCH SUPER CREW. ON 12/26/2010 - WHILE TRAVELING WITH MY WIFE AND CHILD FROM JACKSONVILLE, FL. TO ATLANTA, GA.AND ON I-10 WEST, 5 MILES FROM I-75 NORTH WHEN MY SUNROOF SUDDENLY RIPPED OFF THE TOP OF MY TRUCK. THE SUNSHADE WAS ALSO RIPPED OUT INSTANTANEOUSLY. FORTUNATELY THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS FAR ENOUGH BACK TO SWERVE AND AVOID BE HIT BY THE GLASS PANEL AND SUNSHADE. I RECOVERED THE GLASS PANEL AND SUNSHADE. *TR

ORIGINAL FLYWHEEL BROKEN. TOLD WILL COST $1K TO $1,4K TO REPLACE THAT AND STARTER B/C FLYWHEEL 'PROBABLY' DAMAGED STARTER. TRUCK WON'T START SOMETIMES, AND GRINDS WHEN I TRY TO START IT. WAS STRANDED 2 TIMES AND HAD TO BE TOWED. *TR
WE OWNED A 2005 F150 VEHICLE. WE PURCHASE THE VEHICLE 2004 AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW'S REGULATED FAILED A LOUD SOUND WAS HEARD AND THE WINDOW CAME DOWN BY ITSELF. TODAY 12/10/2010 THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW DID THE SAME THING. WE ARE NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND WITH NO MONEY TO PAY FOR THE WINDOW. THERE HAS BEING SO MANY COMPLAINS IN THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE THAT IF THE RESEARCH IS DONE YOU WILL FIND THIS IS A DEFECT SINCE BEFORE THE 2005 WERE MADE. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THE CONSUMER HAS TO PAY FOR A MANUFACTURE DEFECT OF THIS KIND. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE POWER WINDOWS FAILED EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. THE WINDOWS CANNOT BE MANEUVERED BACK INTO THE UPRIGHT POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER NOR WAS IT REPAIRED. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT THE ACTUATOR TO THE POWER WINDOWS MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE ENGINE FAIL SAFE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ON A RAILROAD TRACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ALSMOST CAUSED A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT UPDATES NEEDED TO BE MADE TO THE COMPUTER. THE UPDATES WERE MADE BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG SUDDENLY DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 82,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I OWN A 2005 FORD F150 5.4 AUTOMATIC W/ 63,000. UNEXPECTED FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION CAUSED BY, AS DEALER STATED, A DEGRADATION OF A BEARING WHICH CAME LOOSE AND BECAME LODGED IN SIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION. I REPLIED TO THE FORD SERVICE MANAGER DOES THIS MEAN THAT WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE WAS A DEFECTIVE PART, HE ANSWERED YES AND GAVE ME THE QUOTE FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND OVER 6,000 CASES OF CUSTOMERS WITH SAME ISSUE( NO TOWING, PROPER MAINTENANCE INTERVALS AND DOCUMENTATION, ETC.) YET INVESTIGATION IS BEING CONDUCTED TO FIND SOLUTION TO THE PREMATURE FAILURE. TALKED TO 3 NATIONALLY KNOWN TRANSMISSION REPAIR FACILITIES AND THEY ALSO HAVE STATED NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE 4R75W AND 4R70E/W TRANSMISSION THAT FORD IS INSTALLING IN ITS VEHICLES, PRIMARILY WITH THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS. *TR
THE 5.4L ENGINE INSTALLED IN THE FORD F150 HAS NOTHING BUT A BAD REPUTATION FOR COSTING CONSUMERS THOUSANDS AND NEVER BEING ABLE TO FULLY FIX THE ISSUE WITHOUT REPLACING THE ENTIRE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE CUTS OUT OF POWER, SHAKES VIGOROUSLY, MISFIRES AND IS DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAYS, HILLS, OR ANY ROADWAY FOR THAT MATTER. OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ALMOST GOT US REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK WITH OUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE WE COULD NOT GET IT TO MOVE WITHOUT LOSING POWER AND SHAKING AND JERKING! THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL THOUSAND COMPLAINTS FILED ON THIS ENGINE I'M SURE, JUDGING BY THE FORUMS, WEBSITES, CAR COMPLAINT SITES ETC. MEANWHILE, WE TOOK OUR TRUCK INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WERE TOLD THAT THEY GET HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WHO BRING THESE VEHICLES IN AND SPEND THOUSANDS TO REPLACE THE CAM PHASERS JUST TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THE NEXT MONTH! BY THE TIME YOU ARE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM YOU'VE PUT OUT MORE MONEY THAN THE VEHICLE IS WORTH AT THAT POINT! GET THESE ENGINES RECALLED AND GET THEM OFF THE ROADS. I HAVE A 2005 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING THREE DAYS AGO I HEARD A LOUD POP AND SUDDENLY MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WAS GONE, IT HAD FALLEN INTO THE DOOR. THE MOTOR STILL RUNS, BUT THE WINDOW IS STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION. TODAY WHILE STARTING MY TRUCK, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DID THE SAME THING, A LOUD POP THEN THE WINDOW SLID SLOWLY INTO THE DOOR. THE MOTOR STILL RUNS ON THIS ONE AS WELL, BUT DOES NOT MOVE THE WINDOW. SO NOW I HAVE TWO WINDOWS THAT ARE INSIDE THE DOOR THAT WILL NOT GO UP. *TR
AFTER NOTICING A LOW TIRE MY DRIVER WAS ATTEMPTING TO AIR IT UP BUT TO NO AVAIL AND WE NOTICED IT WAS LEAKING AT A WELD ON THE RIM. WE TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS CRACKED ABOUT A THIRD OF THE WAY AROUND THE RIM WHERE THE CENTER WAS WELDED TO THE OUTER RIM. I HAD TO BUY A REPLACEMENT WHEEL BUT OUR CONCERN IS THAT THIS MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN. IF IT HAD CRACKED MUCH FARTHER THE OUTER RIM WOULD HAVE SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. 1) DRIVING DOWN A PAVED ROAD GOING ABOUT 35 MPH. 2) HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THEN A METAL GRINDING SOUND. THE DRIVESHAFT FORCED ITS WAY AND BUSTED THROUGH THE CENTER CARRIER BEARING. IT ONLY NEEDS TO HAPPEN ONCE AND IT CANNOT BE FIXED. THE CENTER CARRIER BREARING IS SNAPPED. THIS PART HOLDS THE DRIVESHAFT. WITHOUT THE BEARING, THE DRIVE SHAFT WILL HANG DOWN AND GRIND AGAINST THE PAVEMENT AND THROW IT OUT OF BALANCE AND DAMAGE IT. EVENTUALLY THE DRIVESHAFT WILL BREAK IN TWO. THEN THE TRUCK WILL LOSE POWER TO THE WHEELS WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. 3) THE DRIVESHAFT FROM FORD IS NONSERVICEABLE. IF ANY 1 PART FAILS YOU ARE BUYING A COMPLETE NEW DRIVESHAFT FOR UPWARDS OF $1,200.00. NONE OF THE PARTS CAN BE REPLACED. THE DRIVESHAFT FOR MY TRUCK COSTS $1200.00 FROM FORD. THE CENTER CARRIER BEARING COULD NOT BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE BEARING IS INSTALLED BEFORE TUBE WAS FRICTION WELDED (BAD) IN PLACE. THE BEARING CANNOT BE CHANGED WITHOUT CUTTING DRIVESHAFT APART, DESTROYING THE DRIVESHAFT. THIS PART IS ONLY $35.00 BUT YOU HAVE TO BUY A COMPLETE NEW DRIVESHAFT. I FOUND A COMPANY THAT SPECIALIZES IN DRIVESHAFTS AND MAKES SERVICEABLE DRIVESHAFTS FOR FORD TRUCKS. I HAVE HEARD OTHERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM SO THIS IS A COMMON DRIVESHAFT DEFECT WITH 04-05 FORD F-150 TRUCKS. I BOUGHT THE NEW DRIVESHAFT FROM HTTP://WWW.DRIVESHAFTSPECIALIST.COM F OR $725 + INSTALLATION. THIS IS LESS THAN WHAT FORD CHARGES BUT IS NOT SOMETHING I FEEL SHOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED ON A NEWER TRUCK WITH THIS MILEAGE AND THAT IS DRIVEN VERY LIGHTLY UNLESS THERE IS A DEFECT IN DESIGN LIKE THERE IS WITH FORD F-150 DRIVE SHAFTS. THIS IS SOMETHING THIAT IS SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE TRUCK. *KB
MY DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW ON MY 2005 FORD F-150 WON'T ROLL UP ANYMORE. WHILE DOING RESEARCH FOR PARTS I NOTICED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. THE PART THAT IS USED IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT IS UNSAFE FOR MY BABIES AND MYSELF TO HAVE TO CONSTANTLY HAVE THE WINDOW DOWN. THE COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS AROUND $500-$900 DOLLARS. I AM AFRAID THAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT I OR MY CHILDREN COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED WITHOUT THE WINDOW IN PLACE. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND CORRECT A DEFECT. *TR
2005 FORD F-150. HAD WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED IN MAY FOR DRIVER'S WINDOW. JUST HAD PASSENGER WINDOW ROLL DOWN ON ITS OWN ON THE HIGHWAY DURING A THUNDERSTORM. I WAS IN THE BACKSEAT WHILE MY HUSBAND AND FATHER-IN-LAW WERE IN THE FRONT. I WAS DRENCHED, AS WAS THE INTERIOR. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY BASICALLY SAID "NOT OUR PROBLEM", I CAN'T AFFORD THE $500+ IT COSTS TO GET IT FIXED, ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE TALKED TO NUMEROUS PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THEM AND I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY FORD HASN'T BEEN FORCED TO DO A RECALL. WHAT IF SOMEONE IN THE BACKSEAT WAS HIT BY A HAILSTONE? WHAT IF THE GLASS HAD SHATTERED AND HIT THAT CHILD? WHAT IF THE WINDOW WENT DOWN WHILE AT AN INTERSECTION AND SOMEONE HAD CARJACKED ME? I COULD BE DEAD BECAUSE FORD WANTS TO PUT OUT SHODDY WORK AND NOT STAND BEHIND IT. I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS TRUCK, BUT THIS IS THE WORST. MY HANDLE FOR THE TILT STEERING WHEEL BROKE OFF AFTER 6 MONTHS, THE BACK PART OF THE SIDE MIRROR FELL OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW AND SIX MONTHS LATER, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE SIDE WALLS EXPLODED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND THE REMAINING TWO TIRES EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO REQUESTED TO HAVE THE TIRES RETURNED TO THEM. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,326 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,700. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, A SUDDEN SHAKING OF VEHICLE AND 4 TH TIME THE VEHICLE SHOOK ALL OVER. AT FIRST, THOUGHT I WAS HAVING A TIRE GO DOWN BUT AFTER PULLING OFF ROAD EACH TIME, GETTING OUT AND CHECKING FOUND NOTHING AND THEN AFTER A RESTART EVERYTHING WAS OK. AFTER I GOT HOME AFTER THIS LAST SPELL I STARTED READING ON INTERNET AND MOST COMMENTS POINTED TOWARD PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM. AFTER THINKING BACK IT SEEMS LIKE I USED THE PARKING BRAKE BEFORE EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED. I WAS PREPARING TO REPLACE ROTORS,PADS & PARKING BRAKE SHOES TOO (YESTERDAY) BUT AFTER TAKING EVERYTHING APART (MY MECHANIC) WE DID NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG WITH THESE COMPONENTS. THERE WAS PROBABLY 3/4 PADS LEFT AND PARKING BRAKE WAS GOOD. THE ONLY THING WAS A LOT OF BRAKE DUST, SO WE CLEANED EVERYTHING WITH BRAKE CLEANER AND PUT EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL CURE THE PROBLEM. EVERYTHING THAT I READ, WAS EXPECTING THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES TO COME OUT IN PIECES BUT NOT IN THIS CASE. THIS IS THE ONLY PROBLEM AFTER OWNING THIS 2005 F150 FOR OVER 2 YEARS AND BEING THE 2ND OWNER WITH LOW MILEAGE. THIS JUST SEEMS TO BE BAD DESIGN, ROTOR & PARKING BRAKE TOGETHER. I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 FORD F150 FX4 AND TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW CAME CRASHING DOWN. I WAS SHOCKED NOT KNOWING AT ALL WHAT WAS GOING ON. I MOMENTARILY HAD LITTLE OR NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO MY SUDDEN SHOCK AND CONFUSION. ONCE I HAD REALIZED THAT THE WINDOW HAD BASICALLY JUST FALLEN FROM ITS CLOSED POSITION, I WAS FURIOUS. FURIOUS THAT SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A WINDOW SUDDENLY CRASHING OPEN, ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, ENDANGERING MY LIFE AS WELL AS MY WIFE'S AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I KNOW THIS MAY NOT SEEM VERY DANGEROUS, BUT PUT YOURSELF IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND IMAGINE YOUR WINDOW BEING SHOT OUT WHILE TRAVELING 45MPH. IT WAS TERRIFYING, AND I AM LUCKY NOT TO HAVE HAD A MORE SERIOUS INCIDENT. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE MY VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. TO MY DISMAY, THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOT A CURRENT RECALL FOR THIS SITUATION AND I WOULD NEED TO HAVE A NEW WINDOW REGULATOR INSTALLED. BASICALLY, THE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, WHICH CAUSED THE WINDOW TO CRASH DOWN. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE FOUND THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE (SOME MULTIPLE TIMES) WITH EITHER THE 2004 OR 2005 YEAR MODELS. AFTER INQUIRING ABOUT REPAIRING THIS I NOTICED THAT THIS PROBLEM WITH FORD'S WINDOW REGULATORS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND THAT THERE IS A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS BY PATRONS REPLACING UP TO FOUR WINDOWS IN ONE VEHICLE. THIS IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND AN INSURANCE ISSUE REGARDING ACCIDENTS AND THEFT OF VEHICLE AND PROPERTY. THESE WINDOWS FALL AT ANY GIVEN TIME WHILE PARKED OR DRIVING. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR SURE! WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS SHOT AT IT SCARED ME SO BAD ESPECIALLY IN THESE TIMES WHEN YOU HAVE SHOOTERS OUT THERE ON THE FREEWAYS AND HIGHWAYS. LUCKILY THIS NEVER HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT IT COULD HAVE LED TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAD THE TRUCK REPAIRED, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. TRUCK HAS ONLY 58,800 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE ON THIS SITE AND OTHERS AND NHTSA REALLY SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. *TR

APPARENTLY THERE ARE HUNDREDS/THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE 2004/2005 MODELS. WHEN I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT IT WAS AND SAID THAT IT WAS COMMON. *TR
