IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAINY NIGHT, THE WINDOW OF MY PARKED 2005 FORD F150 FX4 SIMPLY FELL INTO THE DOOR, LEAVING MY INTERIOR TO BE SOAKED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 FORD F-150 THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY AND LOUDLY SLAMMED DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL CAUSING EXTREME DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE AND FAILED TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THE WINDOW ANY LONGER. THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 FORD F150 PICKUP AND THE DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR WHILE BEING ROLLDED UP. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE A PREVALENT PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL TRUCK. *TR
COIL ON PLUG KEEPS MISS FIRING . THEY WERE CHANGED TWICE. FORD WANTS TO DO A VALVE JOB TO FIX THE PROBLEM . THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 57000 MILES ON IT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING OUR TRUCK THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SLOWLY LOWERED ITSELF AND WOULD NOT RAISE UP. THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO. YESTERDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2011 ABOUT 2PM, THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WENT DOWN ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT RAISE UP. I TURNED OFF THE HWY I WAS ON AND LUCKILY AVOIDED A WRECK. TODAY SEPT. 29, 2011, I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY, TOLD THEM ABOUT THE WINDOW AND THE PREVIOUS WINDOW BEING FIXED, GAVE THEM MY VIN#, NAME, TELEPHONE# AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO RECALL'S AND THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS AND CANNOT HELP US FINANCIALLY WITH THIS PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM, I WAS FILLING A COMPLAINT WITH THEM AND NOTIFYING YOU. *TR
ON OCT 5, 2009 I LEFT FOR LUNCH AT 1:00 PM TO GO TO LUNCH STARTED MY VEHICLE AND THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. THE AIRBAG HIT MY LEG AND BURNED MY LEG. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP RANDALL NOE IN TERRELL TEXAS ON OCT 24, 2009 AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD RUN SOME TESTS AND LET ME KNOW WHETHER THEY WOULD REPAIR IT OR NOT AND IT HAS BEEN THREE WEEKS AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT MADE UP THEIR MINDS WHETHER THEY ARE GOING TO FIX IT OR NOT. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS NOW AND THEY CAN'T MAKE UP THEIR MIND WHETHER THEY WANT TO FIX IT OR NOT. I AM TIRED OF BEING JERKED AROUND AND NOT BEING TOLD WHAT WILL BE DONE. THEY TOOK THE STEERING WHEEL APART BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY COULD TELL WHAT MADE IT DEPLOY BUT AFTER DOING THAT NOW THEY SAY THEY STILL DON'T KNOW WHY IT DEPLOYED. THEY TOLD ME I COULD COME PICK IT UP AND DRIVE AROUND WITH NO AIRBAG UNTIL THEY MAKE A DECISION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. DURING A ROUTINE INSPECTION A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT FIVE OF THE EIGHT SPARK PLUGS SEPARATED FROM THE ENGINE HEAD; HOWEVER, NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
NO REAL EVENT, JUST PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY ,HEARD LOUD POP AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WENT DOWN, AND STAYED THAT WAY. *TR
DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATOR ON DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR, WINDOW FELL INSIDE OF DOOR. REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. COST $413.00. *TR
2005 FORD F150, 18,350 MILES. DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED WHEN WINDOW WAS CLOSED. LOUD BANG. WINDOW DROPPED INTO DOOR PANEL. ONLINE RESEARCH AND FORD DEALER CONFIRMED A FREQUENT FAILURE PROBLEM. SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO INABILITY TO CLOSE WINDOW. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE DEALER REPLACED REGULATOR ASSEMBLY, COST $193.45. *TR
I OWN A 2005 FORD F150 SUPERCREW PICKUP. WHILE DRIVING I TRIED TO LOWER THE DRIVER-SIDE FRONT WINDOW. AS SOON AS I TOUCHED THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH THE WINDOW FELL ALL THE WAY DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND BECAME INOPERABLE. AFTER TAKING THE INNER DOOR PANEL OFF I COULD SEE A MESS OF SNARLED CABLE INSIDE THE DOOR. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WANTS OVER $400 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THE SERVICE TECH AT THE DEALER ADMITTED THIS WAS A PROBLEM HE SEES REGULARLY AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET I SHOULD EXPECT TO SEE THE OTHER 3 WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL AS WELL. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE WINDOW DROPS QUICKLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY. THE WINDOW COULD BREAK OR STARTLE THE DRIVER ENOUGH TO CAUSE AND ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO POWER REGULATORS HAVE FAILED. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN OFF TRACK INSIDE THE DOOR. THE CONTACT DOES NOT HAVE A WARRANTY FOR THE VEHICLE AND IS REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE ARE NO EXISTING RECALLS AND THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

I PURCHASED A SET OF MICHELIN 26570 17" CHAPARAL ON 5/08 FOR A F-250 . LESS THEN A YEAR LATER ONE TIRE HAS BIG LUMPS ON IT . THE TIRE STORE REPLACED IT IN 5/09 IN 8/09 ONE OF THE TIRES CAME APART AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK $3,000.00. *TR
LOSS OF BRAKES, BRAKING WHILE GOING DOWNHILL, LOSS OF BRAKES, ABS NOT WORKING THEN WORKING. *TR
SINCE JUNE OF 2009, MY 2005 FORD F-150 SUPERCREW HAS, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, EITHER LOST ALL POWER OR THE ENGINE WAS REDUCED TO IDLE RPM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THREE TIMES. EACH TIME, I WAS IN RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC AND HAD TO MANEUVER ACROSS BUSY LANES WHILE COASTING. IN THE TWO INCIDENTS IN WHICH THE ENGINE STALLED, I HAD TO ACCOMPLISH THIS WITHOUT POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. IN THE THIRD INCIDENT, THE ENGINE WAS IDLING SO P/S AND P/B WERE FUNCTIONING, BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO THROTTLE INPUTS FOR ACCELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE AND "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, THE VEHICLE RE-STARTED AND WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR SEVERAL DAYS (THE "WRENCH" LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER RE-START). I WAS FORTUNATE IN THAT I AM A VERY CONFIDENT DRIVER AND WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY ASSESS THE SITUATION AND REACT PROPERLY TO GET SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I FEAR THAT SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY. IN DOING RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS TO BE WIDE SPREAD OVER MULTIPLE VEHICLES (F-150, EXPEDITION, ETC.) MANUFACTURED IN THE 04-05 TIME FRAME. AS THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING, IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE FOR DRIVERS OF THESE FORD VEHICLES. I HAVE CHECKED MY VIN ON THE FORD WEBSITE, AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED. PLEASE HELP! *TR
VEHICLE IS AN 05 FORD F150 FX4 CREW CAB. DRIVER'S SEATBELT UNLATCHING WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS ABOUT EVERY OTHER DAY OF DRIVING EVERYDAY. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS ON A SUDDEN BRAKE, BUMPS, OR SUDDEN ACCELERATION. SOMETHING IN THE SEATBELT LATCH IS NOT HOLDING THE BUCKLE GOOD. MY SON, 49 YEARS OLD, WAS BACKING OUT OF HIS DRIVEWAY, ON LEVEL GROUND, AND THE AIRBAG BLEW UP IN HIS FACE. HIS HEAD WAS TURNED SIDEWAYS LOOKING IN THE SIDE MIRROR HURTING HIS NECK. TOOK THE PICKUP TO THE FORD DEALER SHIP IN GAINESVILLE, TX. THEY REPLACED THE AIRBAG AND OTHER PARTS AND SAID A WIRE SHORTED OUT IN THE STEERING COLUMN A DEFECTIVE WIRE. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED MY SON IF HE HAD BEAN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR.THIS WAS A FORD 150 2005 PICKUP. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 FORD F150 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN BAM SOUNDED AS IF SOMEONE THROUGH SOMETHING AT MY PASSENGER WINDOW. THE NOISE STARTLED ME SO BAD I ENDED UP SWERVING INTO THE NEXT LANE AND ALMOST CRASHING, COME TO FIND OUT; MY WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR AND IS NOW BROKEN. UPON LOOKING INTO THE SITUATION I HAVE REALIZED MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR. THINGS LIKE THIS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND TAKEN CARE OF FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER. *TR
I OWN A 2005 FORD F150. IT HAS 63,000 MILES AND IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. JULY THE 7TH, 2009 THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DROPPED DUE TO A REGULATOR FAILURE. I REPLACED IT AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH COST. THEN ON AUGUST 28TH, 2009 THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL. NEITHER TIME WAS I IN A SITUATION THAT ENDANGERED ME BUT I WAS IN A THUNDERSTORM WHILE THE FIRST WINDOW WAS DOWN AND NOT FIXED. DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO RUN ALONG SIDE AN 18 WHEELER DURING A RAIN STORM. OF COURSE I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PART FAILURE. THE DROPPING NOISE IS TREMENDOUS. SCARE THE WITS OUT OF YOU PLUS THE WEATHER COULD MAKE THE SITUATION WORSE. THE REALLY SCARY THING IS THEY ARE REPLACING THESE REGULATORS WITH THE SAME THING THAT FAILED. LOOK AT THE WEB ABOUT FORD WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURES. THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF THEM AND THEN THINK ABOUT THE NUMBER OF DRIVERS THAT DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM OTHER THAN THEY MAY HAVE HAD A FAILURE AND NOT KNOW THERE IS AN EPIDEMIC. *TR
2005 F-150 DRIVESHAFT GOES BAD PREMATURELY. THE MIDDLE JOINT IN A 2 PIECE DRIVE SHAFT IS CHEAPLY MADE AND UNSERVICEABLE. IT CAUSES DRIVETRAIN VIBRATION AND COULD FAIL CAUSING INJURY TO PASSENGERS OR OTHER DRIVERS THOUGH A ACCIDENT. THE PART FAILURE IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN THIS VEHICLE AND MANY HAVE BEEN ALREADY REPLACED. MY 2005 F-150 HAS 72000 MILES ON IT. THE DRIVESHAFT IS BAD AND MUST BE REPLACED. MANY OTHER TRUCKS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS. I PAID A DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. IT TOOK THEM AWHILE TO FIGURE IT OUT. UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE REPAIR. I COULD NOT SEE SPENDING 900 DOLLARS FOR THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A REASONABLE AND QUALITY REPLACEMENT. DRIVE SHAFTS HISTORICALLY LAST A LOT LONGER THAN THE ONES FORD IS PUTTING OUT . THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE DEFECT. PEOPLE ARE SPENDING MONEY TRYING TO FIX A VIBRATION AND OVERLOOKING THE DRIVESHAFT BECAUSE IT IS SO HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE DRIVESHAFT IS BAD. SO IT IS OVERLOOKED FOR SOME BY THE TIME THEY FIGURE IT OUT IT COULD BE TOO LATE FOR THE PASSENGER OR A INNOCENT MOTORIST SHARING THE ROAD WITH THEM. DO THE RIGHT THING MAKE FORD PAY FOR OR REPLACE THESE DRIVESHAFTS. TIME IS TICKING AWAY AND THE MILES ARE CLICKING OFF ON ALL THOSE TRUCKS WITH THESE DRIVE SHAFTS. *TR
MY 2005 FORD F150 HAS AGAIN FOR THE 3RD TIME HAD A SIDE WINDOW FALL INTO THE DOOR PANEL OF THE TRUCK. MY UNDERSTANDING THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR TRUCK, AND SINCE THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING WHEN IT OCCURS I FELT COMPELLED TO REPORT IT. MY WISH IS FOR THE NHTSA TO ENCOURAGE FORD MOTOR TO RECALL THIS MODEL YEAR VEHICLE, AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM. OH ONE LAST THING, THE SERVICE ADVISERS AT FORD HAS TOLD ME THEY ARE REPLACING THE NEW FAILING WINDOW REGULATORS WITH EXACT SAME DEFECTIVE PART. *TR

THE LIGHT BULB IN THE CONSOLE WHERE THE SHIFT LEVER IS LOCATED FELL OUT ON THE INSIDE AND BURNED A HOLE THROUGH THE SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED AND THE BULB WAS REPLACED. I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WENT TO ROLL MY WINDOW DOWN (POWER WINDOWS) ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. NOW IT WON'T GO UP OR DOWN. I READ OVER 1000 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM AND FORD REFUSES TO FIX IT, THEY WANT OVER $400 TO FIX IT. I OWN A 2005 FORD F-150 LARIAT. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM FOR SAFETY FROM FORD. *TR
DRIVING ON ROAD IN SCHOOL ZONE (25 MILES PER HOUR) CHILDREN PLAYING ON SIDEWALK. CHILDREN WERE JUMPING ON OFF SIDEWALK INTO STREET. APPLIED MY BRAKES. HEARD CLUNK IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK THEN - NO BRAKE. USED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. FAILURE OCCURRED AS AXLE BROKE, APPARENTLY LOOSE FOR LONG TIME - NOT ORIGINAL OWNER, PURCHASED FROM DEALER. C CLAMP HOLDING AXLE IN PLACE IS DISSOLVED INTO SMALL PIECES CAUSING AXEL TO COME OUT. CALIPER IS TOAST (ONLY THING HOLDING AXLE INTO PLACE) ROTOR, BRAKE PAD, ALL REAR AXLE COMPONENTS - COMPLETELY FAILED, CAUSED OVER $3,000 IN REPAIRS TO TRUCK. EXTENDED WARRANTY WON'T COVER STATING WHEN THE TIRE RUBBED AGAINST THE CURB - THEY CONSIDER THAT AS IMPACT - FORD WANTS NO PART IN FIXING - SAID NO REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH C-CLAMP (NO RECALLS) OR AXEL BREAKING OR SLIPPING AWAY. A TRUE NIGHTMARE! - YOU PAY FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY - BUT THEY DON'T PAY FOR THE REPAIR, YOU BUY A TRUCK FROM A DEALER, YET THEY DON'T CHECK SAFETY - ONLY TIRES, WIPERS AND SMALL STUFF. CONSUMER IS FORCED TO BEAR ANY DEFECTIVE PARTS ON THEIR OWN. REALLY FRUSTRATED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY FAIL TO RESPOND TO THE CONTACT'S ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD SLOWLY ACCELERATE AND WOULD FEEL AS IF IT WERE DRAGGING. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 10MPH. THE DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE REPAIR BRIEFLY CORRECTED THE FAILURE BEFORE RECURRING. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 91,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000.
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED ON DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND THEN ABOUT A YEAR LATER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IN MY 2005 FORD F-150 XLT 4.6L REGULAR CAB. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MPH THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. HE STATED THAT A YEAR AND A HALF EARLIER THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW ALSO FELL INTO THE DOOR. WHEN THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE ACTUATOR AND THE CABLES FOR $150. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED A SECOND TIME WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,172.

A FEW MONTHS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW EXHIBITED THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THE REGULATOR WAS REPLACED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY THE DEALER. THE CONTACT HAS NOT CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
2005 FORD F150 VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND ALL CONTROL WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST SIX TIMES. VERY LUCKY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT MOST TIMES BUT ONE ALMOST A CAUSED REAR END COLLISION. I REPLACED A THROTTLE SENSOR AND THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED AND THE PROBLEM RETURNED AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY. THEY ALSO PERFORMED PCM REFLASH POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND RETEST. THE CODES RECEIVED WITH SCAN TOOL WERE P0121, P2104 AND P2112. *TR

HAD TO REPLACE WHEEL BEARING, PADS AND ROTORS AT 33000 MILES. 5000 MILES LATER CALIPER FROZE LOCKING BRAKES. ANOTHER BRAKE JOB HAD TO BE DONE. *TR
"ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL" FAILURE CAUSES THE ENGINE TO LOSE ALL POWER, POWER STEERING IS INOPERABLE AND VEHICLE MUST BE STOPPED, IGNITION TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN BEFORE VEHICLE IS ABLE TO PROCEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 4 OCCASIONS IN THE PAST YEAR WITH NO WARNING. THIS DEFECT POSES A SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AS THE OPERATOR HAS NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE UNTIL ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE, TURN IGNITION OFF AND THEN RESTART THE ENGINE. FORD SERVICE SAYS THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT, IT IS REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES IN FORUMS ON FORD VEHICLE SAFETY AS A $500-$600 REPAIR. THIS DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A NORMAL WEAR & TEAR ISSUE BUT RATHER A FACTORY DEFECT THAT FORD SHOULD ADDRESS BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED?
LOSS OF STEERING BECAUSE OF A LEAK IN HYDRAULIC HOSES. HOSE ROTTED OUT REPLACED HOSE AND RACK. HAPPENED AGAIN 11/23/13 SAME CONDITIONED BUT PARTS HAVE NOT BEEN AVAILABLE AS OF THIS DATE. *TR
WINDOW FELL DOWN (FROM A FULLY UP POSITION) INTO DRIVER-SIDE DOOR WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. SOUND RESEMBLED A GUN-SHOT WHICH DISTRACTED MY ATTENTION FROM THE ROAD AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON FAILURE IN SOUTHERN AND WESTERN STATES DUE TO HEAT-RELATED COMPONENT FAILURES. REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE AT THIS TIME DUE TO HIGH COST OF PARTS AND LABOR. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 36K MILES AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND SERVICED REGULARLY. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF INCIDENTS OF FAILURE OF THE POWER WINDOW SYSTEM IN THESE TRUCKS, FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. PERHAPS CLASS-ACTION LITIGATION WOULD FORCE THE MANUFACTURER TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS OBVIOUS DESIGN FAILURE. *TR
WINDOW FALLS DOWN AND MAKES A LOUD THUD. SOME PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE WINDOW SHATTERING AS A RESULT, BUT MINE DIDN'T. THE WINDOW SUPPORT SYSTEM FAILS. IF CHILDREN ARE THEN THAT SEAT, THEY COULD EASILY GET OUT. IN SEVERE WEATHER, THE FAILING WINDOW MECHANISM COULD POSE PROBLEMS. *TR
OWNER OF A 2005 FORD F150 SUPERCREW 4X4. I CANNOT SAY THAT ANY PARTICULAR EVENT LEAD UP TO THE FAILURE OF THIS ISSUE. THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR POWER WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE WINDOW LIFT ASSEMBLY. APPARENTLY A CABLE CAME LOOSE THAT SUPPORTS THE WINDOW AND IT WILL NO LONGER STAY UP. THIS CREATES A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEAT, NOT TO MENTION THEFT AND WEATHER CONCERNS. AS FAR AS REPAIR, I CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND OUT THE REPLACEMENT COST FOR REPAIRS, WHICH WAS CLOSE TO $400.00. I BALKED AT THAT HAVING THIS REPAIRED CURRENTLY AND SIMPLY DUCT TAPED THE WINDOW UP TO AT LEAST PREVENT RAIN FROM ENTERING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO FIX THIS ISSUE MYSELF (CANNOT WITHOUT $200 PART), BUT THE PART IN QUESTION IS STILL INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND FORD IS DOING NOTHING TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM. SOME OWNERS HAVE HAD 2-3 WINDOWS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A "WEAR" ISSUE. I BELIEVE A PLASTIC CLIP THAT HOLDS A CABLE DETERIORATES AND BECOMES FAULTY OVER TIME REGARDLESS OF USE. I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT CONSIDER THIS A "MAINTENANCE-TYPE" ITEM. *TR
MY 2005 FORD F-150 STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH. ACCELERATOR HAD NO RESPONSE AND TRUCK WENT TO IDLE RPM. HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON A BUSY STREET. I CONSIDER THIS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF IT HAPPENED UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES SUCH AS ENTERING AN INTERSECTION. WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, WINDOW DROPPED. *TR
1. WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 FORD F-150, I ATTEMPTED TO ROLL UP MY DRIVER'S DOOR POWER WINDOW. 2. AS THE WINDOW WAS GOING UP, IT SUDDENLY FELL INTO THE DOOR CAUSING A LOUD BANG. I FEARED THAT I HAD BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER CAR GIVEN THE LOUD NOISE. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE POWER WINDOW BUTTON TO RAISE THE WINDOW, BUT IT ONLY CAUSED A GRINDING NOISE AND THE WINDOW DID NOT MOVE. THE WINDOW WAS STUCK IN THE DOOR AND COULD NOT BE RAISED. 3. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REGULATOR ON THE WINDOW HAD GONE OUT. IT IS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $400. I HAVE HAD DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOW GLASS FALL INTO THE DOOR. THE DRIVER HAPPENED ABOUT 04/07 AND IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THE MOTOR HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED ON DRIVER WINDOW AND A DAY LATER THE PASSENGER WINDOW GLASS FELL INTO THE DOOR. ALSO ON DATE BELOW THEY HAD TO REPLACE STARTER AND FLY WHEEL AS THE FLY WHEEL, SEVERAL TEETH WERE BROKEN OFF WHICH ALSO DAMAGED THE STARTER. *TR
FORD F-150 TRUCK - REAR PASSENGER WINDOW SUDDENLY FELL INTO DOOR PANEL AND COULD NOT BE CLOSED. VEHICLE OPERATOR DISTRACTED BY THE DROP BUT NO ACCIDENT. HAD TO TAPE WINDOW AND TAKE TO REPAIR - TOLD PLASTIC PIN BROKEN BUT HAD TO REPLACE WHOLE WINDOW REGULATOR UNIT - $400.00. TOLD A RECURRENT PROBLEM WITH THE FORD F 150. *TR
IT SEEMS THAT THE FORD MOTOR CORP HAS BEEN INSTALLING DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATORS IN MANY OF THEIR TRUCKS AND LARGER SUV'S. THESE REGULATORS ALLOW THE WINDOW TO BE OPENED IN CLOSED AND OFTEN FAIL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. ONCE THE PART FAILS, THE WINDOW CRASHES DOWN INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE DOOR AND CANNOT BE ROLLED UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO TWO OF MY FOUR WINDOWS ON MY 2005 F-150 TRUCK. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE BOTH WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,000 FOR TOTAL. MANY OF THESE VEHICLES ARE USED IN THE SERVICE AND LAW ENFROCEMENT INDUSTRY AND SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED WITH DEALERS. I REALIZE THAT VEHICLES COST MONEY OVER TIME BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT TWO WINDOWS WITHIN A THREE WEEK TIME PERIOD HAVE FAILED. IT'S OBVIOUS THAT THE PARTS ARE MADE CHEAPLY OR ARE DEFECTIVE AND THAT A RECALL IS JUSTIFIED SO THAT THE CONSUMER CAN RECOUP SOME OF THE LOSS. IT MAY HAVE BEEN CHEAPER JUST TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR FOR THE $ 500 I SPENT ON EACH WINDOW. *TR
