TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IMPACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER YET THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V107000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,662. UPDATED 4/11/2011 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED HER LEFT ARM WAS BRUISED AND THERE WAS SWELLING FROM THE IMPACT. THE TRUCK WAS REPAIRED AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE. UPDATED 08/22/11
STARTING WITH A SERVICE ON 2/19/2008 THE TRUCK HAD BEEN IDLING REALLY ROUGH AND MAKING A TICKING SOUND WHEN STARTED. AT THAT TIME THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE NOISE WENT AWAY WITH FACTORY OIL AND FILTER. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED UP TO AND INCLUDING WHEN WE TOOK IT IN LAST WEEK WHERE WE WERE TOLD THAT THIS COULD BE FIXED WITH THICKER OIL, AND TO RETURN WHEN IT IS TIME FOR OUR NEXT SERVICE. THE SECOND ISSUE HAS PERSISTED SINCE MID 2010, IT IS A FOUL FUEL SMELL COMING INSIDE THE CAB, THROUGH THE AC VENTS WHEN THE TRUCK IS STARTED IN THE MORNING AND WHEN IDLING. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD OVER AND OVER AGING THAT NOTHING CAN BE FOUND AND THEY CANNOT SMELL IT. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT THEY DROVE THE TRUCK AROUND DURING A SERVICE ON 8/17/2011 TO SEE IF THEY COULD SMELL IT, YET OUR MILES IN AND MILES OUT ON OUR SERVICE RECORDS BOTH STATE 47,771. NOT SURE HOW THEY DROVE IT WITHOUT CHANGING THE MILES. OUR TRUCK BARELY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT, IT IS SERVICED REGULARLY YET IT IDLES HORRIBLY, SMELLS OF FUEL AND GETS 7MPG. SOMETHING HAS TO BE WRONG! *TR
FORD F-150 SUPER CREW WITH 57,000 MILES WILL NOT ENGAGE IN OVERDRIVE. WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. AFTER PULLING OFF THE ROAD AND TESTING IT IN REVERSE AND DRIVE, I WAS ABLE TO RESUME BUT AS SOON AS THE TRANSMISSION REACHED OVERDRIVE IT DISENGAGED COMPLETELY. DEALER CLAIMS A PIN WAS BROKEN THAT LOCKS THE TRANSMISSION IN OVERDRIVE. *TR
I APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION WITH A TRAFFIC SIGNAL...I ATTEMPTED TO STOP MY TRUCK BY APPLYING THE BRAKES...MY TRUCK WENT RIGHT THROUGH THE RED LIGHT AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED AFTER THE INTERSECTION. I HEARD A NOISE RIGHT BEFORE THE TRUCK ACTUALLY STOPPED. I PULLED OFF THE MAIN HIGHWAY AND TRIED APPLYING THE BRAKES AGAIN AND THEY SEEMED TO BE OKAY. I PROCEEDED HOME VERY SLOWLY. *TR

MY 2005 FORD F-150 W/ 4.6 TRITON ENGINE LOST COMPRESSION AROUND THE #3 SPARK PLUG FROM THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE ENGINE RAN, BUT WITH LOSS OF POWER AND A POPPING NOISE. THE TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 55,000 MILES. LEAVING ME STRANDED AND REQUIRING TOWING. *TR

RETURNING HOME FROM ERRANDS FRIDAY EVENING, MY HUSBAND NOTICED A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE BACK OF MY TRUCK. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER TIRE RIM WAS VERY HOT AND THERE WAS A STRONG, BURNING ODOR. NOT WANTING TO DUE FURTHER DAMAGE, WE MADE AN IMMEDIATE APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP SATURDAY MORNING. THE MECHANIC WAS SURPRISED HE HAD TO REPLACE THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER CALIPER, BRAKE PADS AND THE RIGHT REAR ROTOR NOW JUST MAKES SPEC AFTER HAVING TO BE RESURFACED. I AM THE PRIMARY DRIVER OF THIS TRUCK AND ALMOST ALWAYS HAVE MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN WITH ME. OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS A PROBLEM HERE THAT SOMEONE NEEDS TO ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THERE ARE ANY INJURIES OR DEATHS. WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN TO GET SOMEONE'S ATTENTION AND HAVE SUCH A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT CORRECTED? AND LET ME JUST ADD THAT I ONLY HAVE 23, 500 MILES ON MY TRUCK. *TR
VEHICLE FUEL INJECTORS FILLED ENGINE WITH GASOLINE AND CAUSED MOTOR AND OXYGEN SENSORS TO FAIL. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM BUT IS REFUSING TO FIX INJECTORS UNTIL THEY FAIL. *TR
BOUGHT TRUCK NEW, HAS AN ENGINE TICKING THAT CONTINUES TO GET LOUDER. PROPERLY SERVICED AS PER OWNERS MANUAL. ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED PER MECHANIC.
I HAD A SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE POWER BRAKES ON MY '05 FORD F-150 DUE TO A VACUUM VALVE THAT IS LOCATED ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE MOTOR MIDWAY DOWN OF THE MOTOR ON THE BACK SIDE BETWEEN MOTOR AND FIREWALL. THIS WAS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM DUE TO MY TRUCK HAVING 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE REMEDY IS TO GET THE 30$ VALVE AND REMOVE THE TOP HALF OF THE MOTOR JUST TO GET TO THE VACUUM VALVE, DUE TO THE LABOR INTENSIVENESS OF THE JOB LABOR IS $400. LUCKILY I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT BUT YOU WILL ONLY HAVE MANUAL BRAKES WHEN THIS VACUUM LINE COMES OFF IN ADDITION TO A ROUGH RUNNING TRUCK. *CN
MY DAUGHTER WAS OPERATING MY 2005 MODEL F150 WHEN THE BRAKES WENT OUT, SHE WAS ABLE TO SWERVE OFF OF THE ROAD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT UNTIL THE TRUCK CAME TO REST. NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE WAS INCURRED TO HER OR THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD LOST VACUUM (POWER ASSIST) DUE TO A VACUUM HOSE THAT HAD FALLEN LOOSE FROM THE REAR OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. 600.00 REPAIR TO RE-ATTACH VACUUM HOSE AND CLAMP NEVER INSTALLED AT FACTORY. *TR
BRAKE PROBLEMS SEVERAL TIMES NOW I HAVE HAD TO HAVE CALIPERS, ROTORS, ETC REPLACED. NOW MY REAR END SEEMS TO BE SLIPPING GOING AROUND CORNERS. *TR
SEVERE FRONT BRAKE SHUDDER STARTING AT 40,000 MILES: TURNED ROTOR, SEVERE BRAKE SHUDDER AT 60,000 MILES: REPLACE L FRONT ROTOR AND BRAKE PAD: SEVERE SHUDDER AT 80,000 MILES: PRESENTLY AT 110,000 MILES AND FORD TELLS ME I NEED TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AND CALIPER TO SOLVE A PROBLEM THAT FORD KNEW ABOUT BEFORE I PURCHASED THE NEW VEHICLE IN AUG 2005 (SERVICE BULLETIN 100117872 JUNE 1 2005). IT WAS NOT RIGHT FOR FORD TO SELL ME A TRUCK WITH BRAKES THAT WERE ALREADY UNDER A SERVICE BULLETIN. *TR
NORMAL BRAKING CAPABILITY WAS SUDDENLY AND COMPLETELY LOST WITHOUT WARNING WHEN VACUUM ASSIST HOSE SEPARATED FROM FITTING ON THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. VACUUM HOSE SEPARATED APPARENTLY DUE TO SOME SLIGHT BACK-PRESSURE THAT OCCURRED WHEN ENGINE WAS STARTED. ORIGINAL DESIGN DID NOT INCLUDE A CLAMP ON THE HOSE. CORRECTION OF THE PROBLEM REQUIRED REMOVAL OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE VACUUM FITTING; THE HOSE WAS REPLACED AND CLAMPED. MILEAGE WAS 23,442 BUT VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO AGE OF 39 MONTHS. DEALER DID A "GOODWILL - AFTER WARRANTY" REPAIR FOR WHICH I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY 20% OR A MINIMUM OF $100. IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING TO LEARN THAT NORMAL BRAKING CAPABILITY CAN BE COMPLETELY LOST IN THIS WAY WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER. I BELIEVE THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY MUST BE HELD FULLY RESPONSIBLE TO CORRECT WHAT IS CLEARLY A DESIGN DEFICIENCY THAT HAS HIGH POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, ON INTERSTATE 77 THE TIE ROD BROKE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE STEERING CONTROL CRASHING INTO A BARRIER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT TRAINED IN THE FIELD TO KNOW WHAT A TIE ROD WAS. A SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE AT THE MANUFACTURER FILED COMPLAINT# 0569400748; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT HAS NOT RECEIVED A FOLLOW UP CALL. HE WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST HIM SINCE HE DID NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AT A FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH ANTI LOCK BRAKES OR CRUISE CONTROL. THE CONTACT CAN PROVIDE THE PART THAT FAILED AND PHOTOS. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,100. PURCHASED A 2005 FORD F150 SUPERCAB TRUCK ON JULY 22, 2007 AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES 4 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST YEAR DUE TO RAPID WEAR OF THE FRONT TIRES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO REPAIR SHOPS AND HAD THE FRONT END AND SUSPENSION CHECK BY 3 DIFFERENT TECH'S AND THEY HAVE ALL SAID THAT EVERYTHING IS TO SPECS. WHAT CAN I DO TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED. *TR
2005 FORD F-150 5.4L TRITON HAD 2 BLOWN SPARK PLUGS. FIRST ONE HAPPENED AT 80,000 MILES, SECOND AT 130,000. THE FIRST TIME IT DESTROYED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND COST $3000 TO REPAIR. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED IT BLEW THE LEFT SIDE EXHAUST AND THE COIL PACK. THIS COST ABOUT $1500 TO REPAIR.
2005 FORD 150 4X4 KING RANCH CREW CAB. AT 60K MILES, DRIVER'S WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO DOOR. MECHANISM FAILED. FORD DEALERSHIP IN SANTA FE, NM REPAIRED FOR $350.00. THEY CLAIMED THEY'D NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE BUT SINCE HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS WINDOW MECHANISM DESIGN FAULT. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BY FORD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND RAN A RED LIGHT. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE VACUUM HOSE DETACHED FROM THE MANIFOLD. THE HOSE TUBING WAS REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 36,900.
MY HUSBAND HAS TAKEN OUR 2005 FORD F-150 TO THE DEALER WE PURCHASED IT FROM TWICE CONCERNING BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE FIRST TIME WAS AROUND 7,400 MILES. THEY TURNED THE ROTORS AND SAID ALL WAS FINE. AT AROUND 18,000 MILE HE AGAIN HAD TO GO BACK DUE TO A BAD VIBRATION. THEY TURNED THE ROTORS YET AGAIN INSTEAD OF REPLACING THEM. WE HAD NEW TIRES PUT ON OUR TRUCK YESTERDAY AND WE WERE INFORMED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE NEARLY SHOT. THIS IS AT ONLY 28,000 MILES. THIS HAS TO BE DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE WORKMANSHIP. I KNOW OF NO OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE DRIVEN THAT HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS EARLY ON. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 10-15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT VERY STIFF WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH EXCESSIVE PRESSURE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO A STOP, IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED BACK TO THE DRIVEWAY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 49,173.
MY TRUCK HAS 56K ON IT BOUGHT IT USED WITH 35K ON IT WHEN IT STARTS RUNS WITH HIGH IDLE AND THE TOP END TICKS REALLY BAD THE TICKING DOES NOT GO AWAY AT ALL SPEEDS AT A STOP LIGHT IT SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL TIC TIC TIC SOUNDS LIKE A LIFTER IS STUCK. I PUT "LUCAS" IN IT TO TRY TO MAKE IT GO AWAY THEN I CHANGED THE OIL RAN ABOUT TWO WEEKS WITH NO DIFFERENCE AND CHANGED IT AGAIN AND NO CHANGE CALLED FORD DEALER THEY COULDN'T HELP THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TAKE IT IN AND GET CHARGED $165. THEN I CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS MAYBE A FOULED PLUG THAT WASN'T IT THERE GOES 120 BUCKS A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FALLS THE WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE $140 REPLACED THAT ALREADY. THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKS UP SOMETIMES NOW TO THE FRONT THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES REALLY BAD WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES TURNED THE ROTORS AT NAPA $20 NEW BRAKE PADS $90 AT KRAGENS BALANCED TIRES FREE I WORK AT A TIRE SHOP SHAKING WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT THREE DAYS 350 MILES LATER THE SHAKING IS BACK WITH A VENGEANCE CHECKED THE BALANCING ON THE TIRES THEY WERE GOOD ROTORS ARE OUT OF SHAPE AGAIN STILL ON THERE NOW AND THE SHAKING IS GETTING WORSE I CANT AFFORD THEM RIGHT NOW SO THEY WILL STAY THERE HOOKED UP THE SNAP ON EHTOS COMPUTER TO IT AND REGISTERS THAT TWO SENSORS HAVE AN OPEN CIRCUIT BUT NO EXPLANATION FOR TOP END NOISE INJECTORS MIGHT BE BAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE CONTACT OBSERVED THE PASSENGER FRONT SIDE WINDOW GLASS SLIPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE DOOR GLASS BOLTS DETACHED FROM THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE VEHICLE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING. THE DEFECTIVE REGULATORS WERE ON THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW GLASS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHICH SPECIALIZED IN REPLACEMENTS OF THE POWER WINDOW SYSTEM AND WINDOW GLASS. THE WINDOW GLASS WAS PROPERLY SECURED IN AN UPWARD POSITION. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 60,000. UPDATED 09/14/09. *LJ UPDATED 09/16/09.*JB
ON 3 OCCASIONS THE REAR PARKING BRAKE HAS HUNG UP AND CAUSED EXCESSIVE CHATTERING AND SHUDDERING AT SPEEDS OVER 10MPH. CAUSED THE PASSENGER REAR BRAKE ROTOR AND ASSEMBLY TO BE SO HOT THAT SMOKE WAS EVIDENT. CAUSED CALIPER ASSEMBLY TO FAIL WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILE FOR THE 3RD TIME. DEALER SAID TO DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE OR PULL OFF THE GLUED BRAKE LINING AND NOT TO USE IT ANY LONGER. ON LAST OCCASION NEW ROTOR AND CALIPER WAS INSTALLED LEAVING THE PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTED WELL AWAY FROM THE DRUM AND I WAS SUGGESTED TO NOT USE THE PARKING BRAKE BECAUSE THIS IS A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH OTHERS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A TURN OR APPROACHING A STOP, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DOES NOT RETRACT. ON APRIL 16, 2008, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. ON JANUARY 7, 2008, THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE CONTACT HAS AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER ON APRIL 21, 2008 TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY THE FAILURE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,300. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM OCCURRED 5 TIMES PRIOR TO JANUARY 7TH 2008 AND 2 TIMES BETWEEN JANUARY 7TH AND APRIL 16TH. WIFE WAS DRIVING TRUCK WHEN SHE HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE DRIVERS WINDOW ROLLED DOWN. SHE COULD NOT ROLL IT UP AND FORD SAID IT WAS A WINDOW REGULATOR WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY. THE DRIVER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES AS A RESULT OF DEPLOYMENT. IN OCTOBER OF 2007 DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE THE RIGHT HAND PASSENGER WINDOW SUDDENLY FELL INTO THE DOOR RENDERING THE WINDOW INOPERABLE. IN DECEMBER OF 2007 THE 2ND FAILURE OF A WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY OCCURRED ON THE RIGHT HAND REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WHILE AGAIN OPERATING THE VEHICLE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A LONG TERM WEAR PATTERN DUE TO UNDER INFLATION. EXAMINATION OF THE TIRE AFTER THE FAILURE SHOWED THE OUTER SIDEWALL REINFORCING PILES WERE MISSING AND THE TIRE FAILURE WAS POTENTIALLY THE RESULT OF A DEFECT IN THE TIRE. *JB

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIRS, WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DRIVE POSITION, THERE WAS A RATTLING NOISE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE FUEL INJECTOR FAILURE.
