THE PHASERS AND TUNERS ARE SHOT INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE IT STARTED TO MAKE NOISE WHILE MOVING
STEERING GETS VERY HARD TO TURN. HAVE TO "MUSCLE" THE STEERING BACK AFTER A TURN. POWER STEERING RACK FAILED. FORD MOTOR CO. HAS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON REPLACEMENT PARTS. I THINK THERE'S A PROBLEM.
!. VACUUM ADVANCE CONTROL FOR FOUR WHEEL DRIVE GETS WET, LOOSES PRESSURE AND FRONT WHEELS ENGAGE SLIGHTLY, CAUSING WHEEL HUB DAMAGE. 2. STEERING BECOMES HARD, ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER. HARD TO INSPECT STEERING SHAFT UNTIL IT IS DISCONNECTED FROM STEERING RACK. COMMON PROBLEM WITH MID TO LATE 2000'S FORD CROWN VIC. POLICE VEHICLES. COME ON FORD, MAN UP AND MAKE THESE PROBLEMS A RECALL.
I PURCHASED MY 2005 F150 WITH A 5.4L TRINITRON ENGINE NEW IN 2005. I COMPLETED ALL REGULAR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE USING THE RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS, MOST OF IT DONE IN FORD DEALERSHIPS. THIS 5.4L ENGINE IS A POOR DESIGN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. I HAD A SAFETY INSPECTION DONE AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT PASSED EVEN THOUGH IT HAD A TICKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE AND I HAD HESITATION AND LOSS OF POWER. AT THAT POINT, I HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AT 62,000 MILES! NOW AT 105,000 MILES THE PLASTIC CAMPHASERS BROKE APART, THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND THE ENGINE IS BLOWN!! THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A FORD TRUCK TO LAST THAT LONG AND HAVE THAT MANY PROBLEMS. THIS ENGINE IS A PIECE OF JUNK! FORD NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND ITS' "BUILT FORD TOUGH" TRUCKS AND MAKE THIS RIGHT. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD.
F-150 BEGAN WITH A TICKING NOISE AND TURNED INTO A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE, VEHICLE LOOSES POWER OR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. REPLACED COIL PACKS, AND SPARK PLUGS (ONE BROKE OFF DUE TO HORRIBLE DESIGN). BASICALLY, HAD TO TAKE APART THE ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACING SEVERAL PARTS TO STILL NOT HAVE A DRIVABLE VEHICLE. MECHANIC JUST INFORMED ME THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO DO BUT REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE. THANK YOU FORD I OWE ABOUT $8000 ON THIS POS. I HAVE ALREADY SUNK $1200 INTO THE VEHICLE AND WILL NOW BE LOOKING AT OVER $5000 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. *TR
HAD NEW BRAKES INSTALLED SEVERAL YEARS BECAUSE IT WAS SHAKING AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WELL IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN IF YOU ARE TRAVELING HIGHWAY SPEED. BRAKES ARE VERY BAD AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 55,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE WORN OUT BRAKES FOR THE SECOND TIME. SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I AM TO THE POINT OF BEING AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO MASH HARD ON THE BRAKE AND FEEL THE FRONT SHAKING BEFORE IT WILL FINALLY STOP!
I DRIVE A 2005 5.4 TRITON AND AFTER 110000 MILES THE ENGINE HAS DIED. THE MECHANIC STATES ITS THE CAM PHASER AND I'VE SEEN SEVERAL WEBSITES COMPLAINING THE SAME ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE CONTACT HEARD A BEEP SOUND PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TAKATA RECALL AT 80,000 MILES F150 TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. HAD IT REPAIRED NOW IN LESS THAN 12,000 MILES GONE AGAIN.
THE WARNING LIGHT FOR BRAKES, ON THE DASH, STAYS ON ALL OF THE TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK. WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A MEDIAN AND A CURB. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER, NECK, AND BACK, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
THE TRUCK HAS A TICKING SOUND INSIDE THE ENGINE. I HAVE HAD THAT NOISE SINCE I BOUGH IT. 3 YEARS AGO I HAD IT CHECKED OUT AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL. THIS YEAR ON NOVEMBER 4, I TOOK IT AGAIN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM. ITS A BENT ROD. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I HAVE WILL NOT COVER ITUNLESS THE KNOW THE CAUSE OF IT. SO FORD IS SAYING ITS A DEFECTED PART. INSURANCE WONT COVER IT AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR IT!! IF ITS A DEFECTED PART, DON'T YOU THINK FORD SHOULD PAY!!
SPARK PLUGS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO BE REMOVED/REPLACED. WENT TO MECHANIC TO BE REMOVED/REPLACED AND WAS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. MUST BE SOME DEFECT ON FORD'S PART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND STALLED. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL PUMP WAS NOT SUPPLYING OIL TO THE TOP OF THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,200. UPDATED 1/12/16 *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT WHILE IDLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND RATTLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SOLENOID FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TAKATA RECALL---MY DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AROUND OCT OF 2015. I STARTED THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT, PUT MY SEAT BELT ON, PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE AND THE BAG EXPLODED BEFORE EVEN LETTING OFF THE BRAKE. IT STARTLED ME BEYOND BELIEF, THE HORN WOULD NOT SHUT OFF, THE CLOUD OF IGNITION WAS ALL OVER ME AND FILLED THE CAB, AND THE IGNITOR BRUISED MY HAND. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID IT WAS A RECALL AND I HAD IT TOWED TO LEIF JOHNSON FORD IN AUSTIN TX. THE VEHICLE SAT IN THEIR LOT FOR ONE WEEK AS THE DEALER AND MYSELF WENT BACK AND FORTH WITH FORD HQ IN MICHIGAN. I FINALLY ENDED PICKING UP THE TRUCK BECAUSE I NEED IT FOR WORK. FORD SAID THEY SENT ME RECALL NOTICES IN THE MAIL...I NEVER RECEIVED ANY. THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR REPAIRS OR NEW AIRBAGS. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON A ROAD OR HIGHWAY I COULD HAVE EASILY CRASHED. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS.
DRIVING VEHICLE HAVE NOTICED WHEN ENGINE IS IDLING, POWER STEERING IS SOMETIMES WEAK. FLUID IS REPLACED EVERY FALL, AS THE STEERING PUMP HAS BEEN A NOISY ONE SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NEW. DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACING FLUID WITH SYNTHETIC. IT WORKED THEN, SO I REPLACE IT EVERY YEAR. TODAY, WITH STEERING AT FULL LEFT LOCK, THE STEERING WAS STUCK AT THAT POINT. MOVED WHEEL BACK AND FORTH AND IT CAME LOOSE. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE SINCE. AS A NOTE AT 5 YEARS OLD AND 53,000 MILES POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE SPRUNG A LEAK UNDER THE CLAMP AT THE FRAME. REPLACED WITH AFTER MARKET PART, AS DEALER COULDN'T GET THE PART. BACK ORDERED!
METAL SCRAPING SOUND FROM REAR END. MECHANIC HAS CHECKED AND SAYS PINION, BEARINGS, RING GEAR HAVE FAILED. LOOKS LIKE ITS A COMMON FAILURE. 9.75 RING GEAR, 3.55 RATIO
I WAS STARTING THE TRUCK TO LEAVE A WAL-MART PARKING LOT AND MY LEFT FOOT WHICH WAS ON THE BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR OF THE TRUCK. I HAD NO BRAKES. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT I WAS STOPPED AND NOT ON THE ROAD WITH OTHER CARS OR GOING DOWN A STEEP HILL. I HAD THE AUTO SHOP TOW THE TRUCK TO THE SHOP. THEY FIXED TWO BRAKE LINES. COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FRAYED. WINDOW INOPERABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE, THERE WAS A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURES RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE CONSUMED EXCESSIVE OIL AT AN ACCELERATED RATE AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 144,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE LIFT, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND THERE WERE FRACTURED AREAS IN FRONT OF THE WHEEL WELL ON BOTH SIDES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
REAR END SHAKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD ABOUT 60MPH. GETTING OFF GAS NOR PUTTING VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WOULD NOT STOP SHAKING. HAD TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP BEFORE STARTING AGAIN TO MAKE VEHICLE DRIVE PROPERLY.
THE BRAKES FADED DURING A EMERGANCY STOP ON THE HIWAY. I WAS ABLE TO GET STOPPED BUT THE BREAK PEDDEL WENT CLEAR TO THE FLOOR.I COULD NOT PUMP UP THE PEDDEL TO MAKE THE BREAKE WORK ANY BETTER.

THE TIRES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACEMENT TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.

REPLACE SPARK PLUGS, I HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AT 98,000 MILES! THIS ENGINE IS A PIECE OF JUNK! FORD NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND ITS' "BUILT FORD TOUGH" TRUCKS AND MAKE THIS RIGHT. I CANT ENJOY MY TRUCK!!!
I PURCHASED MY 2005 FORD F-150 RIGHT OUT OF THE SHOW IN 2005 AND FIRST BEGAN HAVE JERKING ISSUES 6 MONTH LATER A MECHANIC THEN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS RELATED TO THE FUEL INJECTORS. SINCE THAT TIME I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION TWICE IN 2008, A TIMING CHAIN AND BENT RODS IN 2014 AND CURRENTLY ANOTHER TIMING BENT RODS AND DEBRI FROM THE OIL PAN. ALL CAUSED FROM THE INITIAL FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR ISSUES CONTINUING FROM LESS THAN ONE YEAR AFTER THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE IN 2005. I'VE SENT OVER $9500 IN MECHANIC COST TO DATE.
A NUMBER OF WIRES LEADING FROM THE BODY INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HAVE BEEN CUT/WORN POSSIBLY DUE TO CONTACT WITH THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR. THE RUBBER AND PLASTIC PARTS MEANT TO PROTECT THE WIRES WERE ALSO CUT/WORN. THIS HAS LED TO COMPLETE FAILURE OF ALL ELECTRONICS IN THE DOOR INCLUDING POWER LOCK, POWER WINDOWS, AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF OF RADIO, DOOR CHIME, KEYPAD, AND MIRRORS. DISCUSSION WITH FORD DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM IN THE PAST.
I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A SOUND COME FROM MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I DIDN'T LOSE POWER, BUT PULLED OVER TO LOOK UNDER THE HOOD. NOT NOTICING ANYTHING OBVIOUS I CHECKED THE FLUID LEVELS AND NOTICED THAT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LOW. IT HAD BEEN CHECKED TWO MONTHS PRIOR DURING OIL CHANGE. I HAD NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKS. I FOUND A FORUM ON THE INTERNET THAT TALKED ABOUT TRANSMISSION FLUID GOING FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE TRANSFER CASE, BUT UNABLE TO RETURN. THEY HAD A $20 SEAL REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FORUM HAD STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN CONDITION BUT NOTHING WAS BEING DONE BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. A MECHANIC HAD SAID THAT IT ONLY EFFECTED 17-18% OF VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2004-2008. I CALLED TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AND THEY KNEW THE PROBLEM BUT SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON IT. IT TAKES APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS TO CHANGE, BY DROPPING THE TRANSFER CASE AND REPLACING THE SEAL. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL AND THAT THEY COULDN'T HELP. I FEEL THAT THIS COULD RESULT IN A PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION AND POSSIBLY A CATASTROPHIC EVENT. I WAS TOLD BY FMC REP THAT SHOULD A RECALL OCCUR I COULD TAKE MY RECEIPT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THAT THEY WOULD POSSIBLY REIMBURSE ME. I DON'T FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE A KNOWN CONDITION BUT DO NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS FOR ME AND OTHERS UNDER THE SAME SITUATION.
TURNING LEFT INTO SOUTH BOUND LANE OF A HIGHWAY WHEN THE RIGHT FRONT UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY CAUSED THE TIRE TO DETACH FROM THE THAT AREA. THE TIRE LANDED ON THE HIGHWAY HOWEVER REMAINED ATTACHED FROM THE LOWER ASSEMBLY. DUE TO THE MOMENTUM OF THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO GET ACROSS THE HIGHWAY TO PREVENT A COLLISION. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR CENTER. THE RIGHT FRONT UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON.
WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND ON ONE OF THOSE OCCASIONS WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT IT RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. *TR
TRUCK FRAME RUSTED THROUGH TO THE POINT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND WILL NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION. THE FRAME RUST IS EXCESSIVE AFTER TAKING GREAT CARE OF THE TRUCK.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE DOING 70 MPH (IN FAST LANE) WHEN TRUCK STOPPED/STALLED AND I GUESS FROM RESEARCH WENT INTO "LIMP MODE". I WAS UNABLE TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL, IT JUST SHOOK THREE TIMES EACH OF WHICH SLOWED IT DOWN INCREDIBLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND A WRENCH SHOWED UP, BUT THE RADIO STILL WORKED. WHILE TRYING TO PULL OVER ALMOST WRECKED (MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND I WAS IN FAST LANE). FINALLY ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD HYSTERICAL, SHUT OFF AND WAITED A MINUTE AND IT STARTED. DROVE REST OF WAY HOME *100 MILES* WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND ABS LIGHT ON. I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE AGAIN. NOT FUN HAVING A VEHICLE STALL/QUIT WHATEVER ON INTERSTATE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC.
MY 2005 F150 XLT FRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH ON THE DRIVER,S SIDE OF THE TRUCK. I PURCHASED IT IN DECEMBER OF 2005 SO IT HAS NOT SEEN TEN YEARS OF SERVICE YET. IT WILL NOT PASS VERMONT STATE INSPECTION WHICH MEANS I WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT ON PUBLIC ROADS DUE TO SAFETY REASONS. THE BODY IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND THE TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 41,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST, 2005 TO GET THE TRUCK FIXED SO IT WILL PASS INSPECTION. I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THE FRAME WHICH SUPPORTS ALL OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE TRUCK NEEDS TO AND SHOULD DEFINITELY LAST MUCH LONGER THAN TEN YEARS. WILL THERE BE A RECALL ON THESE TRUCKS TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE FRAMES SOON? IT WILL BE VERY EXPENSIVE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED LOCALLY.
I ATTEMPTED TO START MY TRUCK, IT TURNED OVER BUT WOULD NOT START. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT NEW, AND FOUND THE CAUSE OF THE NO START CONDITION TO BE THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE. (PART NUMBER 5L3A-9D370-AA) I ASKED TO HAVE THE PART SAVED FOR MY INSPECTION. WHAT I FOUND WAS VERY DISTURBING. THE ALUMINUM CASE OF THE MODULE WAS CRACKED IN HALF AND HAS A DIME SIZE HOLE ERODED THRU. BY CHANCE, ONE OF MY WORK ASSOCIATED WHO HAS A 2004 F150 HAD A FLAT TIRE THIS MORNING (JUST THREE DAYS AFTER MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROBLEM) AND HAD THE SPARE TIRE DOWN. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH HIS TRUCK AND FOUND HIS TRUCK TO HAVE A MODULE IN AS POOR CONDITION AS THE ONE I HAD REPLACED. I TOOK A PICTURE THAT I WOULD BE HAPPY TO FORWARD. TWO ADDITIONAL WORK ASSOCIATES WITH 2004 - 2005 F150'S HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRUCKS, I HAVE ALSO READ SEVERAL ONLINE POSTS TODAY OF THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE OF NORMAL WEAR OF A PART, THIS IS A DEFINITE DESIGN FLAW AND SAFETY ISSUE. THE MODULE IN QUESTION IS MOUNTED ABOVE THE SPARE TIRE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR AXLE. THE TIRE IS MOUNTED FOR STORAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK. THE ALUMINUM COVER OF THE MODULE IS MOUNTED AGAINST THE STEEL AXLE AND SEEMS TO ACT LIKE A SACRIFICIAL ANODE AS THE MODULE COVER ERODES AND CRACKS TO THE POINT OF NEAR TOTAL DESTRUCTION EXPOSING A CIRCUIT BOARD TO THE ELEMENTS. IT WOULD SEEM THIS MODULE WOULD BE PLACED IN AN AREA THAT WOULD BE LESS LIKELY TO DESTROYED BY THE ELEMENTS OR ENCAPSULATED OR COATED IN A WAY THAT PROTECT IT. ANY VEHICLE THAT CAN BECOME SUBJECT TO STALL FROM A FAILED PART IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND ON THIS SCALE SHOULD BE CAUSE FOR RECALL CONSIDERATION. THE COST FOR THIS REPAIR "PARTS AND LABOR" AT A DEALERSHIP IS APPROXIMATELY $400.00. *TR
I STARTED THE TRUCK AND THEN TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST, WHICH I RARELY USE. IT WAS ABOUT 55 DEGREES OUTSIDE. AFTER ABOUT 2 MINUTES I HEARD A HISSING NOISE THAT LASTED FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS AND THEN A HEARD LOUD POP AND THEN THE WINDSHIELD SHATTERED. MANY OTHER ARTICLES ON THE WEB INDICATE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THE REAR DEFROST. I CALLED FORD AND THEY WILL NOT OFFER AND COMPENSATION TO HAVE IT FIXED EVEN THOUGH IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AND GOT GLASS IN HER HAIR. *TR
UPON STARTING MY CAR THAT MORNING IT BACKFIRED AND WHITE SMOKE EXITED FROM THE EXHAUST WHICH IT HAS NEVER DONE BEFORE. ONCE IDLING I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND MY TRUCK ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. I HAD TO DEPRESS MY BRAKES WITH SIGNIFICANT FORCE TO GET IT TO STOP. UPON CHECKING THE ENGINE LATER THERE IS NO VACUUM DETECTED AT THE POWER BRAKE ASSIST. THERE IS A RECALL ON OTHER FORD TRUCKS OF THIS YEAR AND MODEL WITH THE SAME ISSUES THAT MINE WAS EXHIBITING. UPON CALLING FORD THEY SAID THAT MY VIN # WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL. GO FIGURE! *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING INTIMITTENTLY THEN THE ENGINE AND MAINTANENENCE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR FILTER WAS OUTDATED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.

ON THE MORNING OF MARCH 5TH 2015 I STARTED MY TRUCK TO WARM THE INSIDE AND ALSO MELT THE SNOW OFF MY WINDSHIELD. I GOT IN THE TRUCK AND BACKED OUT AWAY FROM HOUSE. DUE TO HAVING SNOW ON THE DRIVEWAY I TURNED ON THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN HIGH. MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WOULD NOT WORK SO I TRIED TO SWICTH TO 2 WHEEL DRIVE BACK TO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE BUT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WOULD NOT TURN ON. I GRABBED THE GEAR SHIFT TO PUT THE TRUCK BACK IN PARK WHEN I NOTICED MY GEAR SHIFT COULD FLOAT TO PARK TO 1ST GEAR FREELY AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. AT THIS TIME I NOTICED SMOKE STARTING TO COME INSIDE CAB FROM UNDER DASH AND THRU THE VENTS. I JUMPED OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD. A 1 FOOT SECTION OF A WIRING HARNES MOUNTED TO THE FIREWALL HAD CAUGHT FIRE. I MADE ATTEMPTS TO PUT OUT THE FIRE BUT WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ENGULFED. IN 2 TO 3 MINUTES THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE CAB WAS ALSO COMPLETELY ON FIRE. MY WIFE WHO WAS WATCHING ME IMMEDIATLY CALLED 911 TO GET THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. AFTER 3 MINUTES THE TRUCK WAS ALREADY A TOTAL LOSE. DUE TO THE TRUCK BEING ONLY 60' FROM MY HOUSE AND BURNING SO HOT I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT MY HOUSE CATCHING FIRE. TWO GENTLEMAN FROM THE RESCUE SQUAD ARRIVED BUT IT WAS TOO LATE FOR ANYTHING TO BE DONE. I WAS ABLE TO GET A BACKHOE AND PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH SNOW. UNFORTUNATELY I HAD LIABILITY INSURANCE ONLY WHICH MEANT A TOTAL LOSE. I NEVER DREAMED THAT THE TRUCK WOULD BURN UP SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY!!!! I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN SOME RECALLS FOR F150 DUE TO FIRE HAZARDS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR OTHER YEAR MODEL CLOSE TO 2005. A VEHICLE CATCHING FIRE WHILE ITS SITTING IN A DRIVEWAY RUNNING IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE TRUCK WAS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AND HAD NO AFTER MARKET PARTS OR WORK PERFORMED. I HAVE NO IDEAL WHY THE WIRING HARNESS CAUGHT FIRE.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TUNE-UP ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED NO ONE CAN TELL HIM THE ESTIMATED COST OF A TUNE-UP BECAUSE THE SPARK PLUGS CAN BREAK OFF WHEN BEING REMOVED AND CAN COST SEVERAL HUNDRED OR EVEN THOUSANDS IF THE CYLINDER HEAD HAS TO BE REMOVED TO DEAL WITH THE BROKEN PLUG(S). *JB

THE LOWER UJOINT ON THE STEERING COLUMN IS FREEZING UP FROM CORROSION. IN THE PAST I HAD NOTICED IT WAS GETTING HARDER TO STEER SO I WOULD SPRAY THE JOINTS WITH PENETRATING OIL AND THEY WOULD IMPROVE. TODAY THE JOINTS WERE SO BAD IT WAS AS IF THE POWER STEERING HAD GIVEN OUT, TO THE POINT I PULLED OVER TO CHECK THAT I DIDN'T BLOW A POWER STEERING HOSE. I WILL NOT LET MY WIFE DRIVE THIS TRUCK UNTIL THE PART IS REPLACED BUT AT A COST OF $200 FOR THE PART IT WILL HAVE TO BE PARKED FOR A WHILE. I UNDERSTAND NORMAL WEAR BUT THIS IS COMMON ENOUGH TO DRAW SOME ATTENTION I HOPE. *TR
I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR A REPAIR AND WHEN THEY LIFTED IT THEY FOUND HOLES IN THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT IT MAY FAIL WITHIN TWO YEARS. THIS TRUCK IS AROUND 10 YEARS OLD AND HAS BEEN PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY FOR THE FIRST HALF OF ITS LIFE AND UP TILL LAST YEAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT. THERE IS 57,805 MILES ON IT TALKED TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND NONE OF THEM CAN BELIEVE THAT THERE IS ANY LOGICAL REASON FOR SUCH A FAST ROT OUT. *TR
WE HAVE HAD OUR 2005 F-150 KING RANCH FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS NOW. TODAY (FEB 10,2015), MY WIFE AND OUR ONE YEAR BABE WERE HEADING TO THE POST OFFICE THE TRUCK DISPLAYED A MESSAGE READING "ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE". THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER, NO STEERING, AND IT STALL ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 65 MPH. LUCKILY, SHE SAID THERE WERE VEHICLES BEHIND HER AND SHE PULLED IT OVER WITH NO STEERING AND THE ENGINE DEAD. KNOW WITH-IN THE LAST YEAR OUR TRUCK HAS HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ABS LIGHT HAS COME ON AND OFF EVERY OTHER MONTH. I HAVE CHECKED THE FUSES AND HAD REPLACE A FEW BUT AT TIME IT IS NOT THE FUSE. I'VE HAD THE INTERIOR DIM IN AND OUT AND AT TIMES IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. BY READING THE F150.NET FORUM FOUND OUT THE A WIRE THAT SPLITS INTO TWO WIRES WAS CORRODED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD, IT SEEMS THAT CONDENSATION OR WATER COME IN AND STAYS IN THAT POCKET WERE THAT WIRING HARNESS GOES THRU. I AM NOW TERRIFIED THAT TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN WITH MY FAMILY AND I IN IT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM. I HAVE READ THRU SOME FORUMS AND IT SEEMS THAT PEOPLE HAVE CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT CAN WORK ON IT IF THEY BRING IT IN. BUT THAT FORD CLAIM THAT THEY FIX THE PROBLEM AND THE PEOPLE SAYS THAT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. HOPE SOME ONE CAN HELP OR ASSIST US IN FIXING THIS ISSUE NOT JUST FOR OUR FAMILY BUT FOR OTHERS TOO. VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. TRUCK WAS REAR ENDED (BY VEHICLE GOING ABOUT 35 MPH) AND THEN PUSHED INTO THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY IN FRONT. IMPACT WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE DRIVER'S SEAT TO BREAK, BUT THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED.
