I OWN THE ABOVE MENTION VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO DISCLOSURE TO ME AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE OF A VERY SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WITH THE SPARK PLUGS THAT COULD AND LIKELY WILL BREAK OFF IN THE ENGINE DURING REPLACEMENT AND THE EXTREME COST IN CHANGING THESE PLUGS AROUND 900 TO 1000 DOLLARS IF NO PLUGS BREAK OFF AND EVEN MORE IN THE PLUGS DO BREAK OFF OR HEADS HAVE TO REMOVED TO EXTRACT THE PLUGS EVEN WORSE PIECES OF PRSHELL COULD FALL INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDER AND CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE TO AROUND 8000 DOLLARS NOW THAT I AWARE OF THE EXTREME COST 3 OR 4 TIMES THE AMOUNT FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OF CHANGING SPARK PLUGS IN THESE FORD VEHICLES FORD IS NO HELP AT ALL SAYING ITS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE I CANT HELP IT THE DESIGN FLAW WITH THESE LONG 2 PIECE PLUGS IS SO SERIOUS AND THE PRICE GOUGING OF THE CONSUMER FOR THE COST TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS IS SO EXPENSIVE AND SO BAD I STRONGLY FEEL THAT THE FEDERAL GOV SHOULD STEP INTO THE MATTER AND HELP THE CONSUMERS OUT AND NOT ALLOW FORD TO GET BY WITH THIS EXTREME BAD DESIGN FLAW AND THE OUTRAGEOUS COST THEY ARE CHARGING AND THE FED GOV SHOULD FORCE FORD TO RECALL ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES AND MANDATE THAT FORD EAT THE COST OF CHANGING THESE SPARK PLUGS AND PUT IN THE NEWLY DEVELOPED PLUGS THAT ARE NOT PRONE TO BECOME SEIZED TO THE ENGINE AND FORD SHALL DO SO AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER SAFETY OR NOT IT IS JUST UNBELIEVABLE THEY CAN GET BY WITH SUCH A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WITH SUCH A HIGH EXPENSE TO THE CONSUMER FOR SOMETHING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ROUTINE. *TR
FRAME ON DRIVERS SIDE IS ROTTING AWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE MISFIRE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PROBLEM RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUG WAS FRACTURED AND THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I JUST WANTED TO ADD MY VEHICLE TO THE LIST OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE DIFFERENTIAL. MINE MAKES NOISE AND HAS MADE NOISE FOR QUITE SOME TIME. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE TIRES OR ROTORS. I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS COMING DIRECTLY FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. BASED ON THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE HEARD, I AM PRETTY SURE THIS IS THE SAME THING. THE NOISE SOUNDS LIKE METAL RUNNING ON METAL. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING FORD SHOULD PAY TO FIX. IF I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT, I'M DEFINITELY NOT USING FORD. I READ THAT'S MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINTS. THIS FAILURE IS SECURITY PUBLIC PROBLEMS, BECAUSE ACCIDENTAL OR CRASH MAY OCCUR. *TR
BRAKE WARNING LIGHT IS LIT ON THE DASHBOARD. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. I HAVE READ THAT THERE IS A WIRING PROBLEM WHICH CAUSES THE BRAKE LIGHT TO STAY ON. FORD HAS RECALLED OTHER F150 MODEL YEARS BUT NOT 2005 F150S.
CORROSION OF THE U-JOINTS ON THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT OF MY 2005 FORD F150 (4.6 L) IS CAUSING THE STEERING TO MALFUNCTION. STEERING WILL NOT RETURN TO CENTER AFTER TURNING, EVEN AT MODERATE SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE DRIVES AS IF IT HAS NO POWER STEERING. LUBRICATION OF THESE JOINTS WILL REMEDY THE PROBLEM FOR A PERIOD OF A WEEK OR SO, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED IN OTHER FORD MODELS WITHIN SIMILAR MANUFACTURE DATES. I LIVE IN A COLD WEATHER STATE WHERE THE PROBLEM IN THE RECALLED VEHICLES HAS BEEN NOTED TO BE MORE OF AN ISSUE. THERE ARE MANY ONLINE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS DESIGN FLAW IN THE F150. THE COST FOR ME TO REPLACE THIS PART WILL RANGE FROM $300 TO $600. HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE MADE WITHIN THE SAME ORIGINAL OEM DESIGN. THE PARTS NEED TO BE CORRECTED SO THAT REPLACEMENTS WILL NOT FALTER AS WELL. IT IS VERY SCARY TO THINK THAT I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RELY ON MY STEERING DURING DIFFICULT WEATHER SITUATIONS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE ENGINE FAILURE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
THE VEHICLE HAS A REMOVABLE RUBBER COVER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH CAN COME OFF DURING BRAKING CAUSING ONE'S FOOT TO COME OFF THE PEDAL. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED CAUSING ME TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP. *TR
BOUGHT A 2005 F150 TRITON V8 5.4L NEW IN 2005. I HAVE NOW EXPERIENCED A CAM PHASE PROBLEM WHICH WILL COST APPX 2500 TO REPAIR. TALKING TO MY MECHANIC HE SAID THAT IT WAS NO PROMISE TO FIX THE ISSUE , BECAUSE THESE MOTORS ARE KNOWN FOR THIS ISSUE. WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE EASIER TO PUT ANOTHER MOTOR IN SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ,IF IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. MY BROTHER HAS A 2008 FORD WITH THE SAME MOTOR AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ,BUT HIS MOTOR AFTER HAVING THE CAM PHASER'S REPLACED BLEW UP AND HAD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. AFTER RESEARCHING AND TALKING TO SEVERAL ASE QUALIFIED MECHANICS THEY ALL SAID THAT THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH THE 5.4 LITER TRITON MOTOR. UPON CALLING FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS I WELL FIGURED WOULD HAPPEN THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULDN'T HELP WITH THE COST AND THAT THERE WAS NOR RECALL. CONSUMERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET MORE THAN 100,000 MILES OUT OF A VEHICLE THEY BUY. IF FORD WANTS TO KEEP CUSTOMERS HAPPY THEY SHOULD ADDRESS THEPROBLEM AND THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE MORE VIGILANT IN ASSURING THE CONSUMER IS PROTECTED FROM COMPANIES WHOSE PRODUCT DOSEN'T MEET STANDARDS. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE GOVERNMENT TO LOOK AT ALL COMPLAINTS THROUGH A SURVEY ON THIS MOTOR TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THE CONSUMER. *TR

UNIT WAS RECALLED,DEALER HAD VEHICLE 3 DAYS,ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE TOOLS REQUIRED TO FIX THE AIRBAG AND CONSEQUENTLY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.DEALER SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME LATER AND UPDATE PROGRESS ON COMPLETING THE RECALL.IT HAS BEEN A YEAR AND NO CALLS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED.

HAD TO REPLACE SPARK PLUGS ON 2005 FORD F150. CAUSED MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. I GOT THEM REPLACED AT FORD DEALERSHIP IN RICE LAKE WISCONSIN.
FORD DESIGNED THE FACTORY SPARK PLUGS AS A TWO PIECE DESIGN. ONCE THE TRUCK REQUIRES A TUNE UP THE CURRENT SPARK PLUGS BREAK IN HALF AS THEY ARE REMOVED CAUSING AN ADDITION COST FOR EXTRA LABOR AND SPECIAL TOOLS DESIGNED TO REMOVE THESE PLUGS. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER WHO THEN BROKE 6 OUT OF 8 PLUGS UPON REMOVAL AT AN EXTRA COST OF 80 DOLLARS A PIECE. THE TUNE UP WHICH ONLY INCLUDES THE REMOVAL OFF THE OLD AND THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEWLY DESIGNED ONE PIECE SPARK PLUGS ENDED UP COSTING ME 1000 DOLLARS. THESE SPARK PLUGS ALSO BREAK INSIDE THE ENGINE CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER AND STABILIZER BAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE SEAT BELTS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
THE 5.4 LITER ENGINES HAVE A DESIGN PROBLEM THAT'S COSTING OWNERS A LOT OF MONEY JUST TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS. THE PLUGS ARE TWISTING OFF OR BREAKING BECAUSE THE BLOCK DESIGN ALLOWS THE PLUG TO EXTEND INTO A HOLE THAT ALLOWS CARBON BUILDUP AROUND THE TIP OF THE PLUG. WHEN YOU TRY TO REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG THE BOTTOM OF THE PLUG IS SEALED TIGHT TO THE HEAD THEREFORE ALLOWING THE TOP OF THE PLUG TO TWIST AND NOT THE BOTTOM. THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF TRUCK OWNERS AND SOME DEALERS WON'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE PLUGS. IF ONE BREAKS, IT COULD COST UP TO $2000 FOR THE REPAIRS. I HAVE 4 OF THEM BROKE OFF. I HAVE ORDERED THE EXTRACTOR KIT BUT THE BACK TWO CYLINDERS ARE GOING TO BE HARD TO REPAIR. I LIKE MY FORD TRUCK BUT SINCE THE EARLIER MODEL FORDS WERE BLOWING PLUGS OUT OF THE BLOCKS AND NOW WE CAN'T GET THEM OUT WITHOUT AN EXTRACTOR, TO ME THIS IS NOT GOOD ENGINEERING. WHILE STOPPING FOR A PEDESTRIAN, AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH,THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE RUBBER BRAKE LINE SEPARATED FROM THE STEEL BRAKE LINE,RESULTING IN THE IMMEDIATE LOSS OF ALL BRAKE FLUID AND THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR.THE CAUSE OF THIS SEPARATION ,WAS CORROSION OF THE FACTORY STEEL CLAMP ,CLAMPING THE RUBBER HOSE TO THE STEEL BRAKE LINE. UPON EXAMINATION,IT WAS FOUND THAT TWO OTHER CLAMPS WERE IN THE SAME CONDITION.I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETELY REMOVE ONE CLAMP ,BY RUBBING IT BETWEEN MY FINGER AND THUMB.THESE STEEL COMPONENTS ARE UNSAFE FOR USE IN STATES THAT USE SALT OR BRINE ON THEIR ROADS.THIS WAS MADE WORSE BY THE FACT THAT THE RESERVOIR USED,IS NOT SPLIT INTO TWO SECTIONS, ALLOWING LOSS OF ALL BRAKE FLUID FOR BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AT THE SAME TIME. *TR
WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN 2005. CHANGE OIL AS REQUIRED AND DID REGULAR SERVICES. ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND RUNNING ROUGH. TOOK TO DEALER WHO STATED CAM PHASERS WENT OUT WHICH IN TURN BLEW THE ENGINE. DEALER STATES NEW ENGINE IS REQUIRED ON A 9-YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH LESS THEN 140,000. DEALER STATES CAM PHASERS ARE VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS ENGINE (5.4L TRINITRON) . CALLS TO NUMEROUS OTHER LOCAL FORD DEALERS REVEAL NUMEROUS ENGINE REPAIRS DUE TO CAM PHASERS IN THE ENGINE INTERNET RESEARCH FIND NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE CAM PHASERS IN THIS ENGINE CAUSING COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. DEALER QUOTE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE ON A 9-YEAR OLD VEHICLE WAS $7150.00. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V107000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMELL LIKE RAW FUEL, PARTICULARLY AT STOP SIGNS OR INTERSECTIONS. THE SMELL APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE ENGINE BAY. UPON DISASSEMBLY OF THE INTAKE COMPONENTS OF THE ENGINE TO EXPOSE THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE FUEL RAIL HAD BEGUN LEAKING RAW FUEL INSIDE THE ENGINE BAY. THE FUEL RAIL DEVELOPED A SPECK OF CORROSION ABOUT 2-3MM IN DIAMETER ON THE TOP SURFACE OF THE RAIL. THE CORROSION EVIDENTLY PENETRATED THE ENTIRE RAIL AND BECAME A PINHOLE LEAK. RAW FUEL WAS SEEN LEAKING UP AND OUT OF THE PINHOLE. THIS HAPPENED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FUEL RAIL, WHICH IS POSITIONED INCHES AWAY FROM THE HIGH VOLTAGE COIL PACK, AND ABOVE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AS WELL. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HOTLINE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL FOR IT, NO EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM, NO ASSISTANCE WHATSOEVER. ORDERED A NEW FUEL RAIL THROUGH LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR $500 DOLLARS (4 TIMES WHAT A TYPICAL FUEL RAIL COSTS); PART HAS NOT BEEN SHIPPED, DEALER UNSURE IF FORD HAS ANY IN STOCK OR IS EVEN MAKING THE PART. TRUCK HAS BEEN INOPERABLE FOR OVER A WEEK WITH NO WAY TO FIX IT. *TR
THE NUMBER 3 SPARK PLUG BLEW LOOSE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS JUST STARTED AND IDLING. IT GOT FIXED WITH A REPAIR KIT AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT WEEK. IT WOULDN'T BE A HUGE CONCERN BUT THERE ARE MULTIPLE THINGS THAT COULD HAPPEN AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND OR A FATALITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO THREE OTHER VEHICLES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
AT 58,000 MILES ENGINE MALFUNCTION DUE TO A BROKEN VALVE SPRING. AT 101,879 MILE STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD RATTLING AT STARTUP AND SUBSIDED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS WARMED UP. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL I REACHED 273,000 MILES AND THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED DUE TO OIL STARVATION AND CAM PHASER FAILURES. OIL WAS CHANGED AS REQUIRED THROUGH OUT OWNERSHIP. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE REPAIR SPECIFICS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
TRUCK WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE ON START UP. VERY DIFFICULT TO GET HOME IN TRAFFIC. "FIX" WAS NEW THROTTLE BODY FROM FLECTHER FORD. $582.38. SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH FORD. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON THE FORDS' 5.4L ENGINE APPARENTLY WERE NOT ENGINEERED CORRECTLY. I HAVE HEARD OF MANY THAT HAVE LEAKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WORRY ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF FIRE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO. MULTIPLE TIMES HOWEVER THEY DECLINED ANY HELP WITH THERE REPLACEMENT ON MY TRUCK. IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD AND SEE ONLINE. WHEN TAKING MY VEHICLE OUT FOR TEST DRIVE AFTER PUTTING NEW BRAKES ON. WHILE DRIVING AN SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT. WHILE CHECKING ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I WAS VERY UPSET TO FIND OUT FROM THE DEALER THAT IT'S GONNA COST $585.70 TO FIX ONE SPARK PLUG AND REPLACE COIL. I ASKED ABOUT REPLACING ALL THE PLUG AND THEY QUOTED $900 TO DO ALL OF THEM. AS A RETIREE OF FORD I THINK THIS IS CRAZY. THEY TELL YOU IN THE MANUAL THAT THE PLUGS ARE GOOD FOR 100,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC SAID THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN EVEN IF WE REPLACED ALL THE PLUGS. I'M THINKING OF TRADING MY TRUCK OFF AND AM CONSIDERING ANOTHER BRAND. *TR
FRONT END COLLISION INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER TRUCK. WHOLE FRONT END DAMAGED THROUGH RADIATOR, HOOD, HEADLIGHTS, BUMPERS ETC. AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED AND UPON RETURN OF VEHICLE AFTER REPAIRS, I AM NOW GETTING A CODE 42 THAT THE SENSOR IS BAD AND AFTER RESEARCH FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS BUT FOR THE OPPOSITE REASON BUT ALSO NOW UNDERSTAND THERE ARE CORROSION ISSUES WITH THE CONNECTION OF THE SENSOR ALSO. THE "AIRBAG" INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 6 WEEKS WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN USE, THEN TURNED OFF. NOW, A MINUTE OR SO AFTER STARTING VEHICLE AN ALARM SOUNDS, 5 LOW SOUNDING BEEPS IN 5 ROUNDS, WILL DO IT ABOUT EVERY 30 MINUTES, SAME ALARM CYCLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

THE VEHICLE IS A 2005 FORD F 150. SHOCK FELL OFF DOING 30 MILES MPH. TOOK TO MY BODY SHOP TO REPAIR. SAID I NEEDED TO GO TO DEALER. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. DEALER WAS NO HELP HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN A FRAME AS BAD AS MINE. WHEN I ASKED WHAT AND TO DO, HE TOLD ME TO DECIDE FOR MYSELF WHAT TO DO. THE FRAME AND SUSPENSION WERE SO BAD HE SAID THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CONFIRMED BY ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE WHICH IS FORD'S SIGNATURE TRUCK WHICH MAY SIMPLY GO TO THE JUNK YARD. ALL SAID IT CAN NOT BE FIXED. I WOULD NEED A NEW FRAME FOR CA. 18000. NOT WORTH REPAIRING. 2005 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE MALFUNCTIONS CAUSES VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL POWER, BRAKES AND STEERING. CONSUMER HAS DIFFERENT VEHICLE COMPLAINT IN ARTEMIS. *SMD THE DEALER INVESTIGATED THE COMPLAINT, BUT WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. *JB
ON 6/01/2014 I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK WHEN I STARTED TO APPROACH AN INTERSECTION TO STOP AND WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP AND THE TRUCK THE BRAKES WOULD NOT ACTIVATE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL AWAY TO THE FLOOR, THEN I REALIZED THAT EITHER I WOULD HAVE TO CRASH THE TRUCK INTO THE WALL OF THE BRIDGE AND POSSIBLY GO OVER OR CRASH THE TRUCK IN TO OTHER VEHICLES. HOWEVER THIS WAS A PANICKY SITUATION IN THE LAST SECOND BEFORE CRASHING THE TRUCK I APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. AFTER TOWING THE TRUCK TO THE GARAGE I TOOK FEW PHOTOS OF THE FRONT BRAKE LINE HOSES AND HOW CLOSE THEY ARE TO THE TIRE RIMS. ONE OF THOSE BREAK LINES WERE DAMAGE BY RUBBING AGAINST THE TIRE RIM. OTHER BREAK LINES PHOTO IS SHOWING HOW CLOSE THE BREAK LINES ARE TO THE TIRE RIM. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT FORD WOULD INSTALL OR DESIGN THE HOLDING BRACKETS THAT COULD POSSIBLY MOVE CLOSE TO THE TIRE RIM FOR THE BRAKE HOSES THAT CLOSE TO THE TIRE RIM. ALSO I STOP OVER TO A FORD DEALER IN READING PA WHY THEY WOULD NOT ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM WHEN I HAVE THE TRUCK INSPECTED IN OCTOBER OF 2013. THE SUPERVISOR AT THE DESK HAVE NO ANSWER TO MY QUESTION. THEN I CHECK SIMILAR TRUCKS THE YEAR WAS 2008 AND THE BRAKE LINE WAS LESS THAN .250" FROM THE TIRE RIM. WHEN I CHECKED THE 2014 E150 IT LOOKS THAT THE BRAKE LINES LOCATION WERE REDESIGN. SO OBVIOUSLY SOMEBODY NEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER I WAS NEVER NOTIFY ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THE BRACKET THAT HOLD THE BRAKE LINES WERE NEVER ADJUSTED AWAY FROM BEING THAT CLOSE TO A TIRE RIM AT THE INSPECTION. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY WOULD ALLOW THE BREAK HOSES TO BE INSTALLED ABOUT .250" FROM THE TIRE RIMS OR MOVING PARTS. 5.4L TRUCK ALWAYS MAINTAINED AND SERVICED AT FORD DEALERSHIPS. IT WAS RUNNING PERFECT UNTIL IT IMMEDIATELY BEGAN IDLING ROUGH AT A STOP. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WE JUST KNOW OUR TRUCK. TOOK IT IN FOR A TUNE-UP (REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, ETC.) AND OIL CHANGE. PERFECT BILL OF HEALTH - COULDN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM. ENGINE CHECKED OUT DIAGNOSTICALLY- PERFECT. THEY SUGGESTED IT COULD BE AN INTERMITTENT STICKING FUEL INJECTOR, SO WE WERE GOING TO GET AN ADDITIVE TO ADD TO THE FUEL TANK. DIDN'T MAKE IT THAT FAR. DROVE IT HOME - 35 MILES - GOT HOME AND ENGINE STALLED IN DRIVEWAY. TURNED BACK ON, ENGINE DIED AGAIN. LONG STORY SHORT - TOWED IT BACK TO FORD - THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM - OIL PRESSURE DROPS SUDDENLY (INTERMITTENTLY)- POINTING TO CAM PHASER, TIMING AREA OF ENGINE - END RESULT - NEED NEW ENGINE - THIS ONE IS SHOT AT ONLY 68K MILES - ESTIMATED COST $7,400 PLUS TAX. EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. DID SOME INTERNET RESEARCH, APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. THESE 5.4L ENGINES ARE BREAKING DOWN LEFT AND RIGHT IN THESE TRUCKS. DON'T KNOW WHAT CHANGED. HAD A 1999 EXPEDITION WITH A 5.4L - GREAT VEHICLE. CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE - WAS TOLD TO KEEP ALL RECEIPTS IN THE EVENT OF A RECALL. ABOUT A YEAR AGO I WAS DRIVING MY F-150 PICKUP TRUCK DOWN STREET MAYBE 45 M.P.H WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MADE A LOUD NOISE AND FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR . ENDED UP THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD BROKEN . THEN YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50 M.P.H AND MY BACK WINDOW WAS OPEN ABOUT 2 INCHES I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO MAKE IT GO UP , IT MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND FELL INTO THE DOOR ALSO.
ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH ENGINE STARTED TO MISS. WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO MY MECHANIC WHERE HE SAID A SPARK PLUG HAD FAILED. THE PLUG BROKE WHEN REMOVING. HE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE PLUG. THEN DUE TO A SQUEAL UNDER THE HOOD WHEN THE ENGINE WAS COLD, HE REMOVED THE INTAKE AND FOUND THE SEAL HAD FAILED, WHILE IT WAS APART HE NOTED 2 LEAKING FUEL INJECTORS. ALL DEFECTIVE PARTS WERE REPLACED. IN AUGUST THAT SAME YEAR I REPLACED THE OTHER 7 SPARKPLUGS, HAVING 4 MORE BRAKE OFF. THE EXTRACTOR TOOL WORKED GREAT.

I HAD JUST CHANGED THE OIL AND CHECKED THE FLUIDS AND HAD TO RUN SOME ERRANDS UP TOWN ABOUT A MILE AND A HALF UP THE ROAD THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE, I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE GARAGE I USE SO I PULLED IN THERE TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON THE OIL PAN WAS ON FIRE OIL AND WHAT LOOKED LIKE ANTI FREEZE WAS COMING OUT OF A HOLE FROM WHAT USE TO BE THE OIL PAN OR WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE PAN, THE FELLOW THAT RAN THE STATION TOLD ME IT HAD HYDRO LOCKED AND BENT A ROD AND PUSHED IT THRU THE OIL PAN, HE WENT ON TO SAY HE HAD SEEN SEVERAL OF THE 4.2 DO THIS AND IT LOOKED LIKE FORD WOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING WHEN THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE 4.2,I TALKED TO FORD ABOUT IT AND GOT THE RUN AROUND FROM THEM, JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE IT I HAD NEVER PULLED OR HAULED ANY HEAVY OBJECTS OR MISTREATED IT IN ANY WAY, DON'T UNDERSTAND WHEN THE POWERS THAT BE WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE THE CONSUMER WAS LEFT HOLDING THE BAG TO A TUNE OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS, NOW GOT TO DO WITH OUT TO TRY AND SAVE THE MONEY TO GET IT FIXED, MOSTLY USED THE TRUCK TO GET MY WIFE BACK AND FORTH TO THE DR. I PURCHASES A USED 2005 FORD F150 ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO. TODAY, FEB 28, 2014, I WAS LEAVING MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND MY TRUCKS DISPLAY FLASHED AN MESSAGE READING "ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE". MY TRUCK LOST ALL POWER, NO STEERING AND DIED. LUCKILY I WAS ON SURFACE STREETS AND PULLED IT OVER WITH NO POWER STEERING AND ENGINE DEAD. THE MECHANICS CANNOT FIND THE CAUSE AND THE ENGINE WILL START BUT CONTINUES TO TURN OFF AND THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER SHUTS DOWN. ONLINE I READ OF THIS HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH.
