I HAD JUST ROLLED UP THE WINDOWS ON MY TRUCK, WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP COME FROM THE PASSENGER DOOR. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER THE WINDOW DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO. THIS IS TWICE IN THE 8 YEARS I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK. NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS SINCE SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME TRUCK SHUT OFF ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE INDICATOR CAME ON ENGINE SHUT OFF ALL FUNCTIONS,BRAKES POWER STEERING. *TR
TRUCK STARTED STALLING IN TRAFFIC & INTERSECTIONS. HAD TO CONTINUE TO RESTART. FINALLY MADE IT HOME. THEN TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR. REMOVE & REPLACE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE (PART WAS SEVERELY CORRODED) TECHNICIAN WAS SURPRISED THAT THE TRUCK EVEN RAN. FORD PICK A POOR LOCATION FOR SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM. SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ITEM. REPAIR COST ME $413.08. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO TOWN WHEN ENGINE STARTED MAKING A SOUND LIKE A LARGE COMPRESSOR, STOPPED TRUCK, COULD FEEL AIR COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE HEAD BY INTAKE MANIFOLD, TOOK TO A GARAGE WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PLUG CAME OUT OF THE #2 CYLINDER AND BUSTED THE COIL PAK. I KNOW THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY F150 TRUCK OWNERS, I KNOW OF 3 LOCALLY, AND HAVE FOUND MANY MORE COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD RECALL, THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER HE CAME TO STOP, THE GEARS WOULD ENGAGE INDEPENDENTLY AND MAKE A LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 190,000.

TRUCK WOULD NOT START AFTER IT WAS PARKED. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES IT STARTED LONG ENOUGH TO DRIVER TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. MECHANIC FOUND A FUEL INJECTOR WAS STUCK OPEN POURING GAS INTO THE CYLINDER AND OIL. VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR. DEALER FOUND A FUEL INJECTOR WAS STUCK OPEN POURING GAS INTO THE CYLINDER AND OIL AND A BENT ROD, THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS A NEW ENGINE. FORD HAD ISSUED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 07M08 TO COVER THE FUEL INJECTORS TO 11 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES BUT SINCE I WAS AT ALMOST 9 YEARS AND 134,000 MILES FORD NO LONGER CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COST OF REPAIR OF A KNOWN AND PUBLISHED PROBLEM OR TO ITS CUSTOMER. SOME SATISFACTION PROGRAM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IDLING AT A LIGHT, HE HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE CAM PHASERS AND LIFTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AROUND MIDDAY WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, I HEARD A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I DROVE A FEW BLOCKS BACK TO MY OFFICE AND THE VEHICLE SAT UNTIL I LEFT TO GO HOME LATER THAT DAY. A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY OFFICE ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, I HEARD A LOUDER VIBRATION AND THIS TIME A METAL ON METAL CLANKING SOUND. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF INTO A PARKING AREA AND LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE TO SEE THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD FALLEN FROM ITS CENTER MOUNT. THE TWO PIECE DRIVE SHAFT CARRIER BEARING MOUNTING BRACKET HAD FAILED DUE TO CORROSION OF THE MOUNTING BRACKET CAUSING THE DRIVE SHAFT TO NO LONGER BE MOUNTED TO THE FRAME. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ON A CITY STREET DRIVING AND ONLY DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND NOT AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHERE I COULD HAVE LOSS DRIVER CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LESS THAN A YEAR EARLIER, THE VEHICLE FAILED A STATE SAFETY INSPECTION DUE TO AN EXCESSIVELY CORRODED STEERING SHAFT U JOINT. THE MECHANIC SAID THIS U JOINT COULD FAIL DURING DRIVING CAUSING LOSS OF DRIVER CONTROL. EITHER OF THESE COMPONENT PART FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, AN ACCIDENT AND INJURY OR DEATH TO MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS OR OTHERS IN OTHER VEHICLES OR ON OR NEAR THE ROADWAY. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OTHER NON LIFE SAFETY MECHANICAL DEFECTS WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THIS CONDITION EXISTS WITH MANY OF THESE VEHICLES ON THE ROADS TODAY AND ANY OF THOSE DRIVERS COULD EXPERIENCE A FAILURE OF EITHER THE STEERING SHAFT OR THE DRIVE SHAFT AT ANY TIME AND BE THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
HIT A TREE FULL FORCE DAMAGING THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK, SEAT BELT WAS BUCKLED AND AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC WHEN THE ENGINE WOULDN'T RESPOND. LUCKILY IT WASN'T ON A HIGHWAY THE ON COMING TRAFFIC HAD ENOUGH TIME TO AVOID ME. THERE WAS NO WARNING I THOUGHT THE TRUCK HAD DIED AND WENT TO RESTART BUT THE ENGINE WAS IDLING. I THEN PUT THE TRUCK INTO LOW TRANSFER AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO A SAFE PLACE BY IDLING UNTIL A TOW TRUCK COULD REMOVE IT. *TR
THIS WOULD BE THE SECOND TIME A SPARK PLUG HAS POPPED OUT OF THE ENGINE ON MY 2005 FORD F-150 WITH THE 4.6 LITER V8 ENGINE IT. THE FIRST SPARK PLUG POPPED OUT IN AUGUST 2011 AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER 2013. I HAVE HEARD THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THIS IS HAPPENED TO. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM IN NOT ONLY THE 4.6 LITER V-8 BUT THE 5.4 LITER V-8 AND THE 6.8 LITER V-10. WITH THIS PROBLEM HAPPENING OVER AND OVER AGAIN WHY HASN'T FORD DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. FORDPROBLEMS.COM SUGGESTS THAT FORD INSISTS THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO IMPROPER TORQUING OF NEW PLUGS OR ANY NUMBER OF OTHER REASONS. HOWEVER MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE ORIGINAL FACTORY SPARK PLUGS EJECT FROM THE ENGINE, WHICH INDICATES THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE ENGINE & CYLINDER HEAD DESIGN. THE REPAIR IS RELATIVELY EASY - DO NOT BE FOOLED BY A DEALER OFFERING TO REPAIR THE ISSUE FOR $700 OR MORE. AN INEXPENSIVE HELICOIL KIT WILL DO THE TRICK. ALSO, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND SIMPLY RE-TAPPING THE SPARK PLUG THREADS BECAUSE THE THREADS ARE PROBABLY TOO DAMAGED ALREADY & THE SPARK PLUG MAY JUST BLOW OUT AGAIN CAUSING MORE DAMAGE. SPARK PLUG EJECTION IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE FUEL VAPOR STARTS COMING OUT THE SPARK PLUG HOLE, WHICH IS CLEARLY A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE FUEL VAPOR CAN BE IGNITED BY THE LOOSE SPARK PLUG AND IN FACT THERE HAVE BEEN A SMALL NUMBER OF CASES REPORTED OF ENGINE FIRES DUE TO SPARK PLUG EJECTION/BLOWOUT. I AS WELL AS OTHER FORD OWNERS WOULD LIKE THE NHTSA TO LOOK INTO AND FORCE A RECALL ORDER TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO GET THESE ISSUE FIXED, REPAIR, AND REMEMBERS ALL AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOORBOARD AND THERE WAS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BOULDER IN A RIVER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO RESTART IT. ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000. AP
WHEN I PULLED OUT OF PARKING LOT AT APPROX. 5 MPH I HEARD A VERY LOUD NOISE IN THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING HIT MY VEHICLES BACK DOOR. WHEN I LOOKED BACK ALL LOOKED NORMAL. A FEW MINUTES LATER I HEARD AIR BLOWING. LIKE A WINDOW WAS DOWN. REAR WINDOW HAD STARTED TO SLOWLY SLIDE DOWN. MECHANIC INFORMED ME THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD FAILED. 203.00 JUST FOR THE PART !!!! AND HE SAID MORE WILL BREAK TOO. NICE JOB FORD. *TR
I STARTED THE TRUCK AND THE ALL THE INITIAL BEFORE ENGINE STARTS LIGHTS CAME ON, TACHOMETER WENT TO ZERO AND THERE WAS A WARNING BUZZER. I RAPPED THE TOP OF THE DASH AFTER TRYING THREE RESTARTS WHERE NOTHING CHANGED. THE TRUCK NORMALIZED AND I DROVE IT. I DO NOT OFTEN DRIVE THE TRUCK, SO ABOUT THREE WEEKS LATER I WAS HEADED TO PENNSYLVANIA AND WAS ABOUT TO ENTER THE HRBT TUNNEL WHEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT TO KEY ON STATUS (NO TACHOMETER OR SPEEDOMETER FUNCTION, MULTITUDE OF WARNING LIGHTS AND WARNING BUZZER). SO AT 55MPH I HIT THE TOP OF THE DASH AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BRIEFLY CAME BACK ON THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. I REPEATED THE BLOW ON THE TOP OF THE DASH AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT FIVE HOURS AND THEN CAME BACK AGAIN. IT'S QUITE DISCONCERTING TO HAVE THE SPEEDOMETER SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND THE REST OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NOT FUNCTION. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND FORD'S FIX IS FOR ME TO HAVE TO SPEND APPROXIMATELY $900.00 TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE CLUSTER. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED TWO YEARS PRIOR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,491.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR A SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ISSUE. I WAS TOLD I NEED NEW SPARK PLUGS. THE ISSUE IS HUNDREDS OF 2004 -2008 FORD F-150 5.4 LITER ENGINE HAVE FAULTY SPARK PLUGS THAT BREAK OFF IN THE HEAD CREATING ADDITIONAL EXPENSE. THE PRICES ARE BETWEEN 500- 1000 TO CHANGE OUT SPARK PLUGS. THE FAULTY DESIGN OF THE PLUGS CREATED THIS ISSUE AND FORD HAD NOT ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE, RESEARCH THIS ISSUE AND HELP CONSUMERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. LISLE DESIGNED A TOOL TO EXTRACT THE BROKEN PLUGS MODEL # 65600 IT IS FOR THE YEARS 2004-2008 FORD 5.4 LITER ENGINES. MANY DEALERS ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND JUST CHARGE ADDITIONAL MONIES TO THE CUSTOMER BECAUSE OF FAULITY PART DESIGN. PLEASE, HELP. *TR
OK SO WE BOUGHT A FORD F150 2005 ON FRIDAY OF LAST WEEK WHICH WOULD BE 08/09/2013 . THE MAN ASSURED US THIS WAS A SAFE AND RELIABLE VEHICLE. SO WE START OUR TRIP ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO LOOK AT A NEW HOUSE IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA. WE STOPPED IN ARIZONA TO SEE MY GIRLFRIENDS MOM. SUR ENOUGH THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START THE NEXT DAY. WE TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAYS ITS THE FUEL PUMP SO HE CHANGES IT OUT WE DRIVE IT 2 BLOCKS DOWN THE STREET BACK TO HER PARENTS HOUSE TURN OFF THE TRUCK LOAD IT UP WITH OUR STUFF AND IT WILL NOT START AGAIN. SO THE MECHANIC COMES BACK OVER SAYS OK IT MUST BE THE FUEL MODULATOR. SO HE CHANGES OUT THE FUEL MODULATOR AND SURE ENOUGH IT WORKED WE DROVE IT TWO BLOCKS TURNED IT OFF, RELOADED THE TRUCK AGAIN. AGAIN IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP, APPARENTLY THE NEW MODULATOR KILLED THE BRAND NEW FUEL PUMP WE JUST PAID $500 FOR SO NOW WE HAVE TO GET ANOTHER FUEL PUMP AS WELL. I AM NOT HAPPY AFTER DOING RESEARCH THERE IS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND IF ANYTHING LIKE US WE NOW HAVE PAID NEARLY $1000 TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT COULD EASILY BE CHANGED BY FORD MOUNTING THE FUEL MODULATE UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE ENGINE LIKE THE REST OF THE MODULATORS. WOULD YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AS SOON AS YOU CAN THIS IS SO UNCALLED FOR A LOT OF US WORK TO HARD FOR OUR MONEY AND OUR VEHICLES TO HAVE THEM BREAK DOWN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM EVERY TIME WE STOP. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT EXTREME FORCE WAS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAFE MODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATE AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
AFTER WASHING AND WAXING MY TRUCK I NOTICED THAT ON BOTH OF THE BACK FENDERS THE PAINT IS STARTING TO BUBBLE UP AND THERE APPEARS TO BE RUST COMING OUT OF THE BUBBLES. WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD A 35 MPH MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MADE A LOUD POP SOUND AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. I HAD TO BUY A WHOLE NEW WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY. I HAVE SEEN THIS TO BE A PROBLEM ON THIS SITE AND MANY OTHER ONLINE FORUMS. THERE MUST BE A DEFECT WITH THE REGULATORS. MINE WAS SO BAD THAT THE CABLE ACTUALLY FRAYED AND SNAPPED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. *TR
FAILURE OF THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT CAUSES VEHICLE TO RESTRICT CORRECTING ITSELF AFTER A TURN. DRIVER HAS TO PHYSICALLY STRUGGLE TO STRAIGHTEN THE VEHICLE AFTER TURNING. *TR
REAR PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR STOPPED WORKING AND WINDOW FELL INTO DOOR. HAD MY WIFE DONE THIS WHILE DRIVING SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN SCARED BY THE LOUD POPPING NOISE AND POTENTIALLY CRASHED INTO OBJECT INJURING HERSELF AND OR OTHERS. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THE TRUCKS WITH THE PLASTIC PARTS AND FAULTY MECHANISM. SEARCH THE WEB AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE . YEARS 2004-2006. TURNED TO GO AROUND CORNER STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN BACK. ENDED UP ON SIDEWALK. VERY HARD TIME TO TURN STEERING WHEEL BACK. MY MECHANIC IT WAS POOR DESIGN OF THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT. *TR

DURING A RECENT REQUIRED NYS INSPECTION, PLAY WAS FOUND IN THE LOWER U JOINT OF THE STEERING SHAFT. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC DOING THE INSPECTION THAT THE JOINT HAD SO MUCH PLAY IN IT THAT IT COULD BREAK CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING AND VEHICLE CONTROL. THE ENTIRE SHAFT WAS REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING AT POSTED SPEED LIMIT THE ENGINE QUIT RUNNING, AS IF THE KEY HAD BEEN TURNED OFF. THIS STOPPED ALL CONTROL OF THE POWER STEERING AND HYDRAULIC BRAKE CONTROL. I BOUGHT MY FORD-F 150 DIRECTLY FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 30 MILES IN AUGUST 2005. BY NOVEMBER 2005, WE BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH CONCERNS OF THE TRANNY SLIPPING. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, AND WE WENT HOME. WITH-IN 1 YR. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER WINDOWS, AND WITH-IN 2 YRS, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT COMPLETELY. LUCKILY IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, AND WAS REPLACED. WE HAVE REPLACED EVERY PIECE IN THAT TRUCK AT LEAST ONCE AND SOME SEVERAL TIMES. AND THE TRANSMISSION TWICE. LAST MONTH THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AGAIN. WE PAID $2700. TO ONLY BRING IT HOME, AND IMMEDIATELY IT WENT OUT AGAIN. THE MECHANIC IS BAFFLED. HE HAS BEEN TRYING FOR 4 WEEKS TO FIX IT, AND HAS NOW THROWN IN THE TOWEL. HERE I HAVE A GORGEOUS TRUCK, WITH A HUGE PAYMENT, AND IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK. WE HAVE MAINTAINED EVERYTHING SO PRECISELY, NEVER TOWED, NEVER LONG TRIPS, AND HAVE HAD ALL THE UP KEEP NEEDED FOR THIS TRUCK TO LAST, SO OUR SON COULD TAKE OVER WHEN HE IS OF AGE.
