FORD FACTORY SPARK PLUG BREAKS WITHIN THE HEAD CAUSING POTENTIAL INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE. AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE THAT HAS LEAD TO THE INVENTION OF A SPECIAL TOOL USED JUST BECAUSE F THE ISSUE. COMMONLY REACHING HUNDREDS AND EVEN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. FORD HAS CHANGED THEIR TSB FROM CHANGING PLUGS AT 100K MILES TO 60K MILES. HOWEVER BY THE TIME A ISSUE WAS NOTICED MANY OF US OWNERS HAVE OVER THE 60K MILE MARK. *TR
I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE MINE, FORD TOLD SOME PEOPLE THEY HAD WAY TOO MANY COMPLAINTS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT A RECALL ON THIS. LAST YEAR THE DRIVERS WINDOW POPPED AND THE WINDOW DROPPED INSIDE THE DOOR I WENT TO FORD BOUGHT THE CABLE AND REGULATOR AND HAD A WINDOW COMPANY REPLACE IT. 2 WEEKS AGO SAME THING ON THE PASSENGERS FRONT WINDOW, NEXT DAY THE PASSENGERS BACK WINDOW DROPPED WHILE I WAS IN MY HOUSE, THE DRIVERS BACK WINDOW IS THE ONLY ONE LEFT. THIS TRUCK IS A 2005 THE PARTS ARE NOT THAT OLD. *TR
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW JUST FELL IN THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, A LOUD POP NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE VEHICLE ERUPTED INTO FLAMES. THE VEHICLE CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO A COMMERCIAL BUILDING IN WHICH IT WAS PARKED NEAR. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DID NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000. UPDATED 03/28/12 *BF UPDATED 03/30/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE IN THE DOOR. AFTER A GUST OF WIND HIT HIM, HE REALIZED THAT THE WINDOW FALLEN DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE OWNER WHO NOTICED THAT THE CONTROL FOR THE WINDOW WAS FRACTURED, CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. UPDATED 04/11/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED HE REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR ON HIS OWN. THE PLASTIC FEED FOR THE CABLES HAD BROKEN AND THE REGULATOR CABLE DRUM GROOVES HAD WORN OUT. UPDATED 04/23/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MALFUNCTIONED AND THE WINDOW COULD NOT BE OPENED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE SO THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST RESULTS DISPLAYED THAT THE DM MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,690.
MY FUEL PUMP MODULE SHORTED OUT. IT HAD BECOME CORRODED. THERE WAS A MELTING OF PLASTIC PARTS IN THE MODULE. I COULD SMELL THE PLASTIC BURNING BEFORE THE UNIT FAILED. THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING FINE AND THEN SUDDENLY DIED WHEN THE MODULE FAILED. FORTUNATELY, I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A SMALL TOWN WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY IT COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I FEEL FORD SHOULD BE PERFORMING A RECALL ON THESE MODULES. IT'S A VERY POOR DESIGN. I ALSO FEEL THAT THE TRUCK OWNERS SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THE REPAIRS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE. *TR
WARNING LIGHT: ENGINE FAIL SAFE ON I WAS FORCED TO COAST TO A STOP AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE CLEARING THE WARNING AND CONTINUED ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR.
WHEN YOU ACCELERATE AT 40 TO 50MPH THE ENGINE STRUGGLES TO PICK UP SPEED LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING FUEL. IT HAS ALSO STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS CAUSING ME TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL WHILE STILL ROLLING,OR COME TO A STOP, TURN THE KEY COMPLETELY OFF AND THEN RESTART.TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER AND TO BE TOLD IT WAS THE CAM PHASERS WHICH WILL COST ABOUT $2,900.00 TO FIX WERE THE PROBLEM. HE ALSO SAID THE WORST DECISION FORD EVER MADE WAS USING THE 5.4 TRITON V8 FROM 2005-2008. YOU WOULD THINK IF A MANAGER OF A FORD MECHANIC SHOP TELLS YOU THIS, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. IT ALSO HAS A CONSTANT TICKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE WHICH I WAS TOLD IS THE TENSIONER FOR THE TIMING CHAIN. THE TRUCK CURRENTLY HAS 138,000 MILES. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND COOPER DISCOVERER H/T DE-TREADING INCIDENT IN SEVERAL MONTHS. IN BOTH CASES, TIRE PRESSURES WERE INFLATED PER SPECIFICATION PRIOR TO AN EXTENDED TRIP AND FAILED AFTER LESS THAN 200 MILES OF SUSTAINED HIGHWAY DRIVING. ALL TIRES WERE INSPECTED PRIOR TO THE TRIP AND NO ROAD HAZARDS WERE CAUSE OF THE TIRES DE-TREADING. THE FIRST INCIDENT IN OCTOBER ON HIGHWAY 10 WEST WAS REPORTED TO NTHSB. THIS SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 9, 2012 WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY 10 EAST, APPROXIMATELY 130 MILES FROM LAKE HAVASU CITY, ARIZONA. ON BOTH OCCASIONS, THE TIRES HELD PRESSURE WHILE THE TREADS SHEARED FROM THE TIRE. BOTH DEFECTIVE TIRES MAINTAINED THE CORRECT PRESSURE AFTER TESTING. IT IS ALSO NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER TOWED A TRAILER. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGE IN BOTH INCIDENTS, WITH THE FIRST OCCURRENCE FORCING THE TRUCK OFF THE ROADWAY AND INTO A NEAR FATAL SITUATION. *TR
MY 2005 F-150 TRUCK STALLED RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE JUST OUTSIDE OF MY DRIVEWAY, MY NEIGHBOR AND I HAD TO PUSH IT IN AS TO NOT BLOCK MY STREET. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T DIE OUT ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH I WAS ON FIVE MINUTES BEFORE IT DIED OUT. I WAS THINKING THE FUEL PUMP WENT, BUT WITH ONLY 68,000 MILES THAT WOULD NOT BE VERY GOOD. AFTER SOME RESEARCH ON THE NET THIS LITTLE PART NAMED FUEL PUMP DRIVE MODULE GETS MY ATTENTION. I TOOK DOWN THE SPARE TIRE TOOK OUT THE TWO BOLTS THAT HOLD THE FPDM IN AND WOW THIS PART WAS CORRODED WITH A HOLE IN IT AND A CRACK!!! SO AFTER $144.00 FOR PART # 4L3Z-9D370-A FROM FORD DEALER AND ABOUT 45 MINUTES OF MY TIME, I'M ROLLING AGAIN, LUCKY FOR ME NO TOW FEES JUST A FEW BEERS FOR MY NEIGHBOR. WHAT A JOKE THAT FORD CAN ALLOW THIS BAD DESIGN TO CONTINUE AND NOT BE RECTIFIED BY RECALLING ALL THE VEHICLES THIS WAS INSTALLED ON. I GUESS THAT WONT HAPPEN TILL A FEW PEOPLE LOSE THERE LIVES BECAUSE OF IT. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE NOTICED THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO A PUDDLE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING LINES WERE LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE NECESSARY PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 248,000.
HUBS GRINDING, VIBRATING AND SLOWING TRUCK DOWN. HAD TO REPLACE BOTH TOO SOON FOR A VEHICLE LIKE THIS. AND THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WENT OUT AT A STOP SIGN WITH NO WARNING THEN SHUT THE TRUCK OFF COMPLETELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND IN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
OUR 2005 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY, (WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES) CONTINUES TO HAVE INSTANCES OF EXTREME FRONT END SHAKING WHEN CROSSING BRIDGES AND GOING OVER ANY SIZE BUMPS IN THE ROAD, (BIG OR SMALL). WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE IS 'OUT OF CONTROL'!!! THIS IS A SEVERE AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO RECALL. IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A FATAL CRASH TO GET THE ATTENTION FROM THE FORD MANUFACTURER????? OR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT???? THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS DENY THERE IS ANY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE, HAVE PAID PRIVATE MECHANIC TO INSTALL STABILIZER, ETC., BUT PROBLEM IS ONLY GETTING WORSE. DUE TO THIS BEING A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A FORMAL RECALL PROCESS BEGIN. *TR
YES MY 4X4 IS NOT WORKING AND I HAVE READ OVER 300 POST EASY ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM PEOPLE ARE HAVING. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH MY TRUCK. OBVIOUSLY IF THERE ARE THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR OF TRUCK AND SAME PROBLEM WHY ISN'T FORD DOING A RECALL? THEY SAY THE PROBLEM IS THE IWE, SOLENOID, THE PROBLEM WHY IT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST PLACE IS THERE ISN'T A RAIN COVER OVER THE SOLENOID UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO BECAUSE MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WENT OUT! FORD PLEASE DO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR EVEN DIE! I DO BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE AND HAVE A RECALL TO GET THESE VEHICLES FIXED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, HE HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
MY 2005 FORD F150 NEEDED THE SPARK PLUGS TO BE REMOVED. I WENT TO REMOVE THEM AND THEY WERE ALL DEFECTIVE. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED AND REPAIRED. THEY CHARGED ME $941.00 WHICH CRAZY. THIS IS 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT IT WOULD COST TO REPAIR ON MY OWN IF THE SPARK PLUGS ON MY OWN WHICH IS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO DO. FORD DEALERSHIP WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME EVEN AFTER I TOLD THEM AND SHOWED PROOF OF MANY MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE ON A FORUM. THERE IS A PROBLEM! *TT
THE BRAKE LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AND THE SPEED CONTROL BRAKE PEDAL DISCONNECT STOPPED WORKING. SPEED CONTROL DISCONNECT WAS ACHIEVED BY USING THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROL BUT IF THE STOPPING SITUATION HAD BEEN AN EMERGENCY ONE, AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED AS THERE WAS ABOUT A 1.5 SECOND DELAY FOR ME TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND CORRECT THE SITUATION. WHILE TRAVELING AT 70MPH ON I-10 WITH THE SPEED CONTROL ENGAGED, I WENT TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY TO GET FUEL AND WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO REDUCE SPEED, THE SPEED CONTROL BEGAN ATTEMPTING TO RESUME THE ORIGINAL 70MPH SPEED BY REVVING THE ENGINE. LATER I DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR ON THE VEHICLE HAD FAILED AND WHILE THE BATTERY HAD ENOUGH VOLTAGE TO KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING AND THE VOLTAGE GAUGE HAD NOT MOVED YET, THE BATTERY DID NOT HAVE A FULL 12.5V OUTPUT. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR DOES NOT HAVE A FULL CHARGING VOLTAGE INPUT, IT SEEMS TO STOP WORKING. THEREFORE, THE SPEED CONTROL DISCONNECT FAILED AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ACTIVATE EVEN THOUGH THE MOTOR AND OTHER COMPONENTS CONTINUED FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. IT SEEMS THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR IS VERY VOLTAGE DEPENDENT (WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE ON OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE OWNED). I NOTIFIED FORD OF THE SITUATION AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AND HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING IN RESPONSE. I GOT RID OF THE VEHICLE AND PURCHASED A DIFFERENT ONE AS I BELIEVE IT IS NOT SAFE AND COULD RESULT IN TRAFFIC TICKETS/ACCIDENTS (NO BRAKE LIGHTS) AND SPEED CONTROL DISCONNECT FAILURES (ACCIDENTS) IF THERE ARE VOLTAGE FLUCTUATIONS IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. *TR
THE PROBLEM STARTED IN 2010, IT NOW HAS HAPPEN THREE TIMES THIS YEAR MY 2005 FORD F-150 SUPERCAB HAS WITHOUT ANY WARNING, EITHER LOST ALL POWER OR THE ENGINE WAS REDUCED TO IDLE RPM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPEN SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. ITS HAPPEN IN ALL TYPS OF DRIVING, HIGHWAY SPEEDS, CITY DRIVING, ACCELERATION AND AT A STEADY SPEED. I HAVE HAD TO MANEUVER ACROSS BUSY FREEWAY LANES WHILE COASTING. IN THREE OF THE INCIDENTS IN WHICH THE ENGINE STALLED, I HAD TO ACCOMPLISH THIS WITHOUT POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. IN ANOTHER INCIDENT, THE ENGINE WAS IDLING SO P/S AND P/B WERE FUNCTIONING, BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO THROTTLE INPUTS FOR ACCELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE AND "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE VEHICLE RE-STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE, THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER RESTART, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL I HAVE IT RESET. I BEEN VERY FORTUNATE THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING, IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. I NOW WILL NOT LET MY FAMILY DRIVE THE TRUCK. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PRESSURE HOSE WAS LOOSING POWER STEERING FLUID RAPIDLY. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PRESSURE HOSE HAD COMPLETELY ROTTED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR REPAIRS WAS ON BACK ORDER BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER HAD REDESIGNED THE PART, BUT WAS NOT MAKING IT AVAILABLE AS OF YET. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150 EQUIPPED WITH COOPER DISCOVERER H/T TIRES, SIZE 245/65R17, DOT NUMBER: UP15C56. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION, CAUSING IT TO SHRED TO PIECES. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE HE CHANGED THE TIRE AND INSTALLED THE SPARE. THE FRONT FENDER OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE TIRE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO ROAD HAZARDS PRESENT THAT COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE AND THERE WERE NO FAILURES FOUND WITH THE TIRES, WHICH WERE INSPECTED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO FILED A CLAIM WITH THE MANUFACTURER ON BEHALF OF THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TIRE WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HIM AT A LATER DATE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
I WAS COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM GEAR AND THEN FINALLY DID WITH A LOUD CLUNK. WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE FORWARD THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THEN JUMPED INTO GEAR JUMPING THE TRUCK FORWARD. THERE WAS NO WARNING FOR A TRANSMISSION FAILURE IT ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST ALL GEARS. THE MECHANIC AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE TO THEM AND THAT ONE OF THE INTERNAL SEALS PROBABLY BROKE AND CAUSED A "CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE." *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A TREE THAT HAD FALLEN AND OBSTRUCTED THE ROADWAY. AS THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THE IMPALED TREE, ONE OF THE TREE BRANCHES FRACTURED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND STRUCK THE DRIVER. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER WAS KILLED. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VECHILE WITH IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS AND THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER SIDE, MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND .....THEN A LOUD BANG AS THE WINDOW FELL DOWN IN THE DOOR! MECHANIC SUGGESTED REPLACING ALL FACTORY SPARK PLUGS W/ NEW DESIGNED SPARK PLUG KIT TO ELIMINATE EJECTION PROBLEM. I DID SO AT A COST OF $831.52. COSTS TO DATE $4729.25 WITHIN THE LAST 2 MONTHS ON A 2005 VEHICLE. UNACCEPTABLE. RESEARCHED ON INTERNET AND FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. NO MENTION OF IT FROM THE DEALER UPON PURCHASE. FORD HAS TURNED THEIR BACK ON THIS (AND THE CAMSHAFT PHASER DEFECT). I AM A SMALL CONTRACTOR WHOSE LIVELIHOOD DEPENDS ON THIS VEHICLE. THE PURCHASE PRICE OF $35,890.00 PLUS TAX AND LICENSE WAS A HUGE INVESTMENT FOR ME (I PAID CASH AND DRAINED MY SAVINGS SO I WOULD NOT HAVE MONTHLY PAYMENT). POWER WINDOWS DEVICES & CONTROLS - WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE MY WIFE AND I DROVE MY 2005 FORD F150 TO PICK UP MY SON UP FROM KINDERGARTEN AND WHILE DRIVING HOME, GOING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH DURING A SEVERE FLORIDA THUNDER STORM WE HEARD A LOUD POP, THEN CRACKLE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE IT CAME FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE TRUCK. I PULLED OVER IN THE STORM TO SEE IF ANYTHING STRUCK THE DOOR. SINCE I SAW NOTHING I PULLED BACK ONTO THE ROAD AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW ABRUPTLY FLEW DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND DISAPPEARED. MY 5 YEAR OLD SON WHO WAS SITTING DIRECTLY BEHIND ME ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IN HIS CAR SEAT, WAS TERRIFIED, CRYING AND WET FROM RAIN FLYING IN THE WINDOW, WE WERE 5 MINUTES FROM HOME AND PULLED INTO THE GARAGE. MY SON AND I WERE SOAKED AND ALL THREE OF US WERE SHAKEN. I HAVE RECENTLY FOUND OUT THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY A WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WITH A SMALL CHILD IN THE CAR. WHEN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE FURTHER I FOUND THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS, HOWEVER FORD HAS NOT RESPONDED, NOR ADDRESSED THIS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS ISSUE. CURRENTLY MY WINDOW IS TAPED WITH A BAG TO COVER THE WINDOW HOLE AS WE DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE SINCE BOTH WIFE AND I WERE LAID OFF RECENTLY. PROCEEDED TO DRIVE OUT OF HOME DRIVEWAY ONTO ROAD, WHICH IS GRAVEL AND TRAVELS IMMEDIATELY DOWNHILL. I HEARD A POP AND WHAT SOUNDED LIKE EXHAUST/COMPRESSION POPPING AND EXPERIENCED THE ENGINE SKIPPING WITH SLIGHT LOSS OF POWER. I TURNED AROUND, AS SOON AS IT WAS SAFE TO DO SO, AND DROVE BACK TO MY OWN DRIVEWAY. I CONTACTED A LOCAL MECHANIC WHICH I USE REGULARLY AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION. THE MECHANIC WAS ONLY ABLE TO CHECK IT OUT THURSDAY 8, SEPTEMBER, 2011. HE THEN DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BLOWN SPARKPLUG AND SUGGESTED I CONTACT FORD FOR SOME RELIEF AS THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD. I DID AND WAS DENIED. THE PROBLEM, AS I UNDERSTAND IT, COULD HAVE RESULTED IN HAVING RAW GASOLINE SPRAYING OUT OF THE SPARK PLUG HOLE, ONTO A HOT MANIFOLD AND POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE. *TR
I HAVE A FORD 2005 F-150 THAT HAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER NUMBER 6 DUE TO A SPARK PLUG DEFECT ACCORDING TO THE MECHANICS. THE SPARK PLUG CANNOT BE REMOVED WITHOUT BREAKING AS IT APPEARS TO BE FUSED TO THE HEAD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT FORD MANUFACTURER WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THIS DEFECT AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, AND JUDGING BY THE NUMBER OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE DURING THE PAST FEW YEARS, THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THUSLY NOT A CONSUMER PROBLEM. THE SPARK PLUG DEFECT WAS DISCOVERED AT THE TIME OF EMISSION TESTING WHICH IS REQUIRED ANNUALLY UNDER GEORGIA LAW IN ORDER TO ACQUIRE A VEHICLE TAG RENEWAL. *TR

CAMSHAFT PHASERS FAILED SO ENGINE WOULD NOT IDLE, CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AT STOP SIGNS HAVING TO CONSTANTLY REV ENGINE TO KEEP RUNNING. REPAIR COST $3,897.73. THROUGH INTERNET INVESTIGATION HAVE FOUND MY PARTICULAR YEAR AND ENGINE (5.4L TRITON) HAS A HISTORY OF THIS FAILURE. TOLD THAT A NON-MOTORCRAFT OIL FILTER CAN RELEASE DEBRIS THAT CLOGS A LUBRIVATION PORT IN THE CAM PHASERS WHICH IN TURN DESTROYS THEM. NO INFO. OF THIS SORT WAS EVER RELAYED TO ME ON PURCHASE OF VEHICLE. I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE I HAVE EVER USED ANYTHING BUT A MOTORCRAFT OIL FILTER.
