The contact stated that it was difficult to locate the part needed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.
My pickup truck at only 23 thousand miles in the engine, it's module went bad and brake and ABS lights came on on the dashboard. I took the car to the dealer and they said that I have to replace it and they are charging me 5,400 dollars. They said that some 2009 F150 module were bad from factory, but there's not recalls for it to be fixed by them.

The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic and was diagnosed with an ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to the Customer Satisfaction Program: 09C07 (Brake Stop lamp Switch Adjustment); however, the VIN was not included in the Customer Satisfaction Program. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact stated that the failure persisted since November 2022. WHILE IN MOTION, LIGHT CAME ON BRAKE FLUID LOW. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, AND WE LOOKED, BUT DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY SEE ANY PUDDLE, OR SIGN OF RAPID LOSS OF FLUID, FILLED MASTER CYLINDER BACK UP, AND DROVE 15 MILES HOME. ON THE WAY, I NOTICED THE PEDAL WAS SPONGY, WHEN I GOT HOME, I LOOKED, AND HAD LOST 1/4 OF THE FLUID IN THE MASTER CYLINDER.I GOT IN THE TRUCK, PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, FELT IT GOING DOWN, GOT OUT, AND SAW IT WAS LEAKING RAPIDLY FROM A JUNCTION OF THE BRAKE HOSE GOING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE (ABS BOX?) WHERE IT GOES FROM RUBBER TO METAL. I GOT A NEW ONE FROM THE DEALER TODAY DUBLIN FORD, DUBLIN GA. [$33.00] AND NOTICED THAT IS HAS BEEN MUCH IMPROVED OVER THE ORIGINAL. THIS TELLS ME THAT FORD KNEW IT HAD A PROBLEM, WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ITEM, AND DIDN'T RECALL FOR IT. IT ALSO TELLS ME THAT THERE ARE PROBABLY A BUNCH OF F150'S OUT THERE THAT ARE AT RISK OF BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF A $33 PART. *TR
'09 F150 FX4 W/ 40,900MI. AFTER DRIVING HOME AND GETTING TO MY DRIVEWAY, I HAD TO DRAG MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE INTO THE PARKING SPOT - IT WAS TOTALLY LOCKED AND EXTREMELY HOT/SMOKING. UPON INVESTIGATING, I COULD NOT GET THE BRAKE CALIPER PISTONS TO RETRACT UNLESS I CRACKED THE BLEEDER OPEN. LAST NIGHT I REPLACED EVERYTHING BRAKE RELATED ON THE WHEEL INCLUDING THE RUBBER FLEX LINE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CALIPER WAS FINE. WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS/IS THAT THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE RUBBER FLEX BRAKE LINE WAS OVER CRIMPED AND PARTIALLY RESTRICTING THE BRAKE FLUID. SECONDLY, CORROSION/RUST HAD BUILT UP BETWEEN THE OUTSIDE OF THE RUBBER BRAKE LINE AND THE INSIDE OF THE BRACKET. AS THE RUST CONTINUED TO BUILD, IT COMPRESSED THE BRAKE LINE UNTIL IT WAS COMPLETELY PINCHED. BY ESTIMATE, I'D SAY THE RIGHT ONE WAS 100% RESTRICTED, AND THE LEFT WAS 90% RESTRICTED. UPON SPEAKING WITH A NEIGHBOR WITH AN '08 F150, HE HAD A VERY SIMILAR OCCURRENCE WHERE THE TIRE WAS ROLLED OFF THE RIM WHEN THE TIRE LOCKED. HE HAD HAVE IT TOWED FOR REPAIRS. MY CONCERN IS THIS IS A FLORIDA TRUCK WITH LIMITED EXPOSURE TO THE MIDWEST. THE RESTRICTED BRAKE LINE OVER TIME HAD TO HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED MY BRAKING CAPACITY OF THE FRONT WHEELS. OBVIOUSLY, AT THE END, IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE BRAKE HAD LOCKED AT SPEED, SIGNIFICANT CONTROLLABILITY ISSUES WOULD HAVE RESULTED. IN THE PICTURES, YOU CAN SEE THE RUST ON THE VICE THAT CAME OUT WHEN WE PRIED THE BRACKET OPEN AND SLIDE THE LINE OUT. THE OTHER PICTURE HAS WHERE THE PAD BURNED INTO THE ROTOR DUE TO EXCESS HEAT AFTER I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO RETRACT THE CALIPER AND FREE THE ROTOR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED A FEW YEARS AGO AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KENDALL FORD OF KENAI (10288 KENAI SPUR HWY, KENAI, AK 99611, (866) 387-7984). THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE BRAKE ROTORS, PADS, AND CALIPERS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
RECENTLY, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, BOTH THE ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OF MY TRUCK. THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYED A READING OF CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM. THE BRAKES BEGAN TO HAVE A PULSATION TO THEM AND THE TRUCK JUST DID NOT WANT TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A MECHANICAL SHOP WHERE THEY CHARGED ME TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM CAUSING THESE SYMPTOMS. THEIR FINDINGS WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS REVEALED A FAILED ABS MODULE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY.
AT APPROXIMATELY 86000 MILES MY ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I TOOK IT TO MY CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH REVEALED A FAILED ABS MODULE. REPLACEMENT COST IS OVER $800.00 AND WITH OVER 233 COMPLAINTS THAT WE KNOW OF, WHEN IS YOUR ORGANIZATION GOING TO MAKE FORD ACCOUNTABLE?
ABS & TCS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, WHEN DIAGNOSED IT READS A CODE B1342 FAULTY ABS CONTROL MODULE. I HAVE TRIED DESPERATELY TO FIND A REPLACEMENT ALL THE DEALERS SEEM TO HAVE THEM ON BACK ORDER WHIT NO SHIP DATE KNOWN. NONE OF THE PARTS HOUSES SELL THIS PARTICULAR MODULE IT IS A 1 YEAR PART ONLY I CALLED SEVERAL WRECKING YARDS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND WAS TOLD THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. I FINALLY LOCATED ONE BUT IT WASN'T EASY. HOW MANY OTHER 2009 F150 TRUCKS ARE OR WILL BE ON THE ROAD WITH FAULTY BRAKES AND ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THEM.
SUDDEN COMPLETE BREAK FAILURE. WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS BREAKING PROBLEM OR INDICATION OF BREAKING SYSTEM PROBLEM THE BREAKING SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILED UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS DECELERATING WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS A FEW HUNDRED YARDS FROM A RED LIGHT AND ATTEMPTED TO APPLY GENTLE BRAKE PRESSURE, THE BREAK PEDAL GAVE NO RESISTANCE, EASILY PUSHED TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BREAKING CAPACITY WHATSOEVER. THE BREAK TROUBLE LIGHT CAME ON AT THE SAME INSTANT FAILURE OCCURRED. RELEASING AND REAPPLYING THE BREAKS HAD NO EFFECT, ONLY DUE TO MY EARLY RESPONSE TO THE RED LIGHT ALLOWED ME ENOUGH TIME AND DISTANCE TO USE THE COLUMN SHIFTER TO DOWNSHIFT, THUS DECELERATING WITH THE ENGINE UNTIL REACHING 1ST GEAR. AT WHICH POINT I WAS ABLE TO USE THE PARKING BREAK TO FULLY STOP THE VEHICLE.

WHILE ENTERING INTERSTATE I-10, EARLY MORNING TRAFFIC. TRAFFIC MOVING AT 20 - 25 MPH. ENGINE MADE A SERIES OF REVVING NOISES. TRIED TO APPLY BREAKS TO MERGE OVER. BREAK PEDDLE WOULD NOT ACTIVATE. STUCK IN UP POSITION. I APPLIED BOTH FEET AND PRESSED FULL PRESSURE. WOULD NOT GO DOWN. WOULD NOT STOP. ROLLED INTO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK, DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN. BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR CAUSING THE TRUCK TO RUN INTO THE CURB. THE PEDAL BECAME FIRMER AGAIN BUT LATER THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AGAIN.
DEEP GROOVES IN FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AFTER ONLY 2800 MILES . FORD REPLACED LEFT CALIP TURNED ROTORS ; DIDN'T REPLACE PADS. AFTER 5800 MI ROTORS AGAIN HAD DEEP GROOVES IN ROTORS. FORD HAS HAD TRUCK FOR 5 DAYS; UNABLE TO GET ROTORS IS THE EXCUSE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING. I HOPE THEY REPLACE BOTH ROTORS ,PAD AND THE RIGHT CALIP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
