when i turned on the rear defrost within seconds the glass shattered please note the incident happened on 11.15.2021 the computer keeps putting todays date
Driving at 5 mph in traffic. Truck suddenly pulls hard right and involved in a glancing blow to a vehicle next to me. Steering wheel then was able to wobble loosely in 3 dimensions with no effect on tire direction. Had turn wheel at least 20 degrees rotation before feeling any engagement: a clunking sound and extremely hard steering with minimal tire response. Truck had to be towed from the accident scene. MANY reports of same problem seen via internet search Several lawsuits noted with various model years. Ford dealer states the steering column parts are obsolete.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, he slowed down and when he made a right turn, the vehicle stopped completely. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to get the vehicle safely in the parking lot. The failure had occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. There was no failure found. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,320.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the starter would fail intermittently. The contact sprayed starter fluid in the intake and eventually the vehicle would start. The contact stated that fuse #27 for the fuel pump relay was melted and burned in half. The contact spoke with a certified mechanic who suggested that the fuse and fuel pump control module may both need to be replaced. The contact replaced the fuel pump control module however, failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who confirmed the failure with fuse # 27. The contact was informed that the fuse needed to be replaced and the fuel pump control module might also need to be replaced again. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
I recently bought this truck 12/31/21. On 1/14/22 I was stopped in a parking lot at a stop sign , I was at the sign no one was ahead of me , with my right foot on the brake waiting the Truck began accelerating to the point the rear tires broke traction and the truck rear end started moving to the side , with my foot still on the brake pushing harder ( the pedal felt like the ABS system was pushing against my foot ) I immediately turned the ignition to the off position . After a few seconds I started the truck it idled ok so I proceeded as normal . My drive home was around 25 miles with no more issues . I have only talked to a few people and googled what may have happed but all I’ve seen is unless it can be duplicated or some kind of code shows up this will be hard to diagnose , also I was told it may be worth my while to contact this organization NHTSA . The contact turned around and noticed that the rear passenger’s side panel window was shattered. The contact stated that no one was injured. The contact stated that neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after parking and then returning to the vehicle, while attempting to restart the vehicle, the engine failed to turn over. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the power junction box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
All electric devices and warnings having to do with the left rear passenger door have shorted out due to excessive wear from repeated opening and closing of the door. Inspection of the harness immediately adjacent to the door frame shows excessive wear and broken wires. Possible confusion to the driver from unsafe dash warnings and false warnings that a rear passenger be seated next to a door that is not properly closed. Dome lights may not extinguish during driving. Electrical fire hazard. Required fix is Ford replacement part #9L3Z-14631-CAA. Internet search has shown this problem to be wide spread among F-150 crew cab back doors.
November 17, 2021 the Ford service writer at Bolton Ford in Lake Charles Louisiana State told me he could not rotate my tires do to faulty Lugnuts,I asked the gentleman well what am I supposed to do he said replace the log nugs for around $150 which he only had six in stock, apparently there is a problem with this and Ford should make it good.
Swolen lug nuts cannot be removed
On October 5, 2021 (Wednesday) I was driving my 2010 F-150 Lariat and noticed the brakes fading as I came to brake for red lights. I also noticed “BRAKE WARNING” lights & “BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW” light come on also. I pulled into a CVS store and looked under the hood to & saw the “Master Cylinder Brake Fluid RESERVOIR” nearly empty. I put 1 bottle of DOT 3 brake fluid in fluid container and saw level go back down, almost empty, upon turning truck on to pressurize the system. I didn’t see any fluid leaking from under truck & bought another bottle of DOT3 Brake Fluid and again the reservoir emptied again. I got the vehicle home and the next day the same thing happened after a 3rd refill of the reservoir. AGAIN STILL NOT SEEING ANY FLUID LEAKS ON MY DRIVEWAY!!! I disconnected a vacuum tube at top of “BRAKE BOOSTER” which is connected to the “Master Cylinder” and looked inside to see large amount of BRAKE FLUID IN THE “BRAKE BOOSTER HOUSING”!!! I saw where 2014 to 2017 Ford F-150’s have been recalled for this exact same SAFETY ISSUE! The contact stated while driving 40-50 MPH, the vehicle started jerking with an abnormal slamming sound coming from the transmission, but there was no warning light illuminated. While accelerating the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was experiencing a similar failure as TSB Number: 14-0153 and 16-0032. The contact was advised to contact the local dealer. The dealer was contacted and stated that there were no recalls under the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 125,000.
Cooper Discovery A/T 275/55R20 . The tire is splitting apart on the sidewall. Driver's side left front tire is splitting apart and passenger right rear is also splitting apart. Consulted with a mechanic he said this was extremely dangerous. WARN EVERYONE. This could blow out causing a horrible wreck even death. Purchased the tires from Walmart on 6-17-2021. . Took the truck to Walmart. Walmart told me to return tomorrow because they didn't have anyone there that could make a decision. Please check your tires. These tires have only been installed on my truck for 52 days. Inspect your tires. Research tire companies before you purchase tires. I thought Cooper was a good tire. I was wrong. After I realized my tires had started splitting on the sidewall earlier. Today. I knew this was serious. Googled Cooper tire splitting. Cooper tire has had many incidents in the past with this type issue..Reading this will hopefully save someone from serious injury or death.
Reverse Gear Band broke in transmission
While attempting to leave my driveway, I put my foot on the brake pedal in order to put the vehicle into gear. I heard a “pop” and the pedal went to the floor. There were no warning lights on the dash. The vehicle remains, (un-driven) in my driveway. I don’t know what failed and the vehicle has not been inspected. I do notice fluid leaking under the vehicle but don’t know where it’s coming from.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that only the driver’s side door could be opened from the inside or the outside using the interior and exterior door handles. The other doors failed to open as needed. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the latching mechanism replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and the contact was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 182,000.
I was in a parking lot and went to shift the truck out of park and noticed the brake system warning light on. After the vehicle was shifted into drive the brake pedal went to the floor and the only way to stop the vehicle was with the parking brake. The master cylinder was empty of any fluid. I had the vehicle towed to my home for inspection. After checking all brake lines for ruptures or leaks, I removed the master cylinder and discovered the brake booster full of brake fluid. I replaced the master cylinder and the vehicle returned to its normal braking function. The brake booster was also replaced due to the corrosive nature of the brake fluid. Luckily, I was parked and wasn’t driving when the vehicle lost brake function because I wouldn’t have been able to stop the vehicle at highway speed with the parking brake.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED AND FAILED TO STOP WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE STARTED SLOWING DOWN. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO HER RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED VOGLER MOTOR COMPANY INC (1170 E MAIN ST, CARBONDALE, IL 62901, (618) 457-8135) AND WATERMARK FORD OF MARION (1910 W COOLIDGE AVE, MARION, IL 62959, (618) 993-2161) AND MADE THE DEALERS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 123,000.
WHILE DRIVING, I EXPERIENCED ALMOST COMPLETE SIDEWALL SEPARATION FROM STEERING DRIVERS SIDE TIRE: BRAND- DELINTE LT 275/65R18 BANDIT TIRE. THE TIRE HAD OVER 5/32 OF TREAD STILL LEFT. THE OTHER THREE TIRES ARE ABOUT THE SAME TREAD DEPTH; HOWEVER, THEY ARE THE SAME BRAND AND MAKE. THERE IS A RECALL OF A SIMILAR BRAND TIRE: RECALL # 2750 SENTURY TIRES.
MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR IS STUCK CLOSED. I HAVE TRIED TO OPEN IT FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE AND MADE SURE IT WAS NOT LOCKED. I HAVE REMOVED THE DOOR PANEL INSIDE AS MUCH AS I COULD TO TRY AND PULL THE CABLE FOR THE LATCH. EVEN PULLING THE CABLE TO THE LOCK ACTUATOR DOES NOT DISENGAGE THE DOOR LATCH. WHEN I DID THIS I NOTICED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE SPRING HAD BROKEN THROUGH THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS IT IN PLACE. I TRIED TO RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND I NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT IT WAS VIN SPECIFIC. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THERE CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE WARRANTING A RECALL, MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THOSE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL YET MINE IS NOT COVERED. I ASKED WHY THAT WOULD BE AND THE CSR ONLY ANSWERED WITH HIS SCRIPTED RESPONSE OF 'THIS IS A VIN SPECIFIC RECALL'. DESPITE THIS, I ORDERED A NEW DOOR HANDLE AND WAITED FOR IT TO ARRIVE HOPEFULLY THINKING THAT IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER ONCE THE NEW HANDLE WAS INSTALLED, THE DOOR STILL WILL NOT OPEN.
TRUCK SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. WOULD NOT RESTART. ALTERNATOR NOT HOLDING A CHARGE, REPLACED BATTERY AND TOLD BY DEALERSHIP WIRING HARNESS SHORT. FUSE 27 AND NEEDED FUEL PUMP FUSE RELOCATION KIT. WOULD BE SECOND TIME REPLACING WIRE HARNESS. LESS THAN 2 YEARS BETWEEN REPAIRS.
4X4 TRANSFER CASE MOTOR FAILURE. SYSTEM WILL NOT ENGAGE ON EECTRONIC 4X4. FAILURE APPEARS WHEN PARKED OR MOVING WHEN TRYING TO ENGAGE THE 4X4. APPEARS TO BE A CURRENT FAIRLY HIGH FAILURE RATE ACCORDING TO LOCAL DEALER. 4 THIS MONTH.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY - I TURNED IT ON TO WARM UP AND TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER. WITHIN A FEW MINS, THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED AND THERE IS A BURN MARK AND MELTING OF THE TRIM IN THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE WINDOW WHERE THE DEFROSTER WIRING/SENSOR IS LOCATED.
TRUCK WAS PARKED, WENT OUT STARTED TRUCK AND TURNED REAR DEFROSTER ON. HEARD A LOUD POP LIKE A GUNSHOT AND SAW BACK WINDOW WAS SHATTERED.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F150. The contact stated while driving at 40 MPH, the vehicle started spinning without any warning. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road and the vehicle was towed. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic, and the helicoil was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and he stated that the motor needed a sealing head. The manufacturer was contacted, and they advised to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was 105,109.
I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN IN MY 2010 FORD F150 PLATINUM. IT HAD SNOWED THE NIGHT BEFORE SO I HAD CLEANED THE WINDOWS AND TURNED ON THE DEFROSTER, INCLUDING THE REAR DEFROSTER. I WAS RUNNING THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT 15 MIN WHEN THE REAR WINDOW STARTED TO SMOKE AND A SMALL FIRE, BURNING OCCURRED BEFORE THE GLASS IN THE RUBBER SEAL (OUTSIDE). I THREW WATER ON IT WHILE MY WIFE AND KIDS (11, 9, AND 3) EVACUATED THE TRUCK. I WAS ABLE TO CONTAIN IT, BUT THE WINDOW CRACKED DURING THE BURN/FIRE DUE TO THE HEAT. MY WIFE WAS TAKING MY DAUGHTER OUT OF HER CAR SEAT AS THIS HAPPENED. WE TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHO SAID THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY BUT TO BRING IT IN AS THERE WAS A RECALL AND THEY WERE AWARE OF SIMILAR ISSUES. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TODAY MONDAY JANUARY 18TH AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL OR ANYTHING THEY COULD DO. NOT ONE DID ANYONE ASK FOR THE WELFARE OF MY FAMILY NOR DID THEY PRETEND TO CARE ABOUT THE SITUATION OF ONE OF THEIR PARTS/VEHICLES CAUSING A FIRE AND POTENTIALLY INJURING OR WORSE CAUSING DEATH TO ONE OF THERE CUSTOMERS. I WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO GAVE ME THE SAME RESPONSE. THAT MY VIN HAD NO RECALL LISTED AND THAT WOULD NOT COVER ANY REPAIRS. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND READ ON NUMEROUS FORD FORUMS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH 2009-2012 FORD TRUCKS. ALL WITH THE SAME EXACT BURN/FIRE LOCATION AND EXACT REAR WINDOW (FAR RIGHT) CRACKING. THIS IS CONCERNING THAT FORD IS CLEARLY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY TO ATTEMPT TO CORRECT AND LOOK OUT FOR THE WELFARE OF ITS CUSTOMERS. I WOULD UNDERSTAND A MECHANICAL ISSUE AND A PART BREAKING DOWN BUT I SHOULD NOT FEAR THAT MY VEHICLE WILL CATCH ON FIRE AND CAUSE HARM TO MY FAMILY. THANKFULLY NOTHING WORSE HAPPENED TO MY FAMILY AND I BUT IT SHOULD NOT TAKE THE WORST CASE SCENARIO FOR FORD TO ASSIST WITH THIS.
JUST BOUGHT VEHICLE WITHIN 4 WEEKS, UPON STEPPING ON GAS, TRANSMISSION VIOLENT JERK IN FIRST GEAR FROM STOP , HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES ON ENTERING ONTO HIGHWAY
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the brake pads were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall regarding the electrical system with the brakes. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
SEATBELT CHIME/ ALARM IS DEFECTIVE. SEE ALL YOUTUBE VIDEOS SHOWING SO. SEATBELT LIGHT AND CHIME CONTINUOUSLY STAY ON AND CHIME ALARM CONTINUOUSLY RINGS EVEN WHILE SEATBELTS ARE ON & LOCKED IN POSITION. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING AND A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR DRIVERS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE IT GO OFF/ WORK CORRECTLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS SEATBELT CHIME IS DEFECTIVE IS BOTH WHEN DRIVING / IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. BODY/WINDSHIELD AREA STRUCTURAL DEFECT- THERE IS A HOLE/OPENING THAT ALLOWS RAIN/ WATER TO LEAK INTO INTERIOR OF TRUCK, LEAKING WATER INSIDE TRUCK INTERIOR FROM UPPER BUILD SEAM, THROUGH THE GRAB HANDLE LOCATED AT SIDE OF WINDSHIELD IN FRONT OF FRONT PASSENGER, THEN LIQUID DRIPS DOWN ONTO CARPETED FLOORBOARD. THIS BODY STRUCTURE DEFECTIVE OPENING/ HOLE IS LOCATED SOMEWHERE BETWEEN UPPER WINDSHIELD SEAM AND THE INTERIOR FRONT PASSENGER GRAB HANDLE AT WINDSHIELD FRAME. WATER DRIPS THROUGH THIS HANDLE. THIS WINDSHIELD LEAK DEFECT OCCURS WHEN THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION AND WHEN STATIONARY. ELECTRICAL/IGNITION SWITCH- TURNING ON TRACK WITH IGNITION KEY, IGNITION SWITCH DOES NOT ALWAYS PERFORM CORRECTLY. IT OFTEN DISALLOWS THE AC, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND BACKUP CAMERA TO WORK, WHILE EVERYTHING ELSE IS WORKING. BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE MAY BE WORKING, THE DRIVER MAY NOT NOTICE THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS BEEN TURNED ON INCORRECTLY.THIS DEFECT, ESPECIALLY THE BACK UP CAMERA NOT WORKING, AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS, IS DANGEROUS. THE SWITCH SHOULD BE MADE TO CONSISTENTLY WORK AT ALL TIMES THE SAME WAY. THIS DEFECT IS NOTICED WHEN STATIONARY, BUT OFTEN WHEN IT'S TOO LATE AND IN MOTION.
THERE HAVE BEEN 3 TIMES NOW THAT MY VEHICLE HAS RANDOMLY DIED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS. WITH THE ENGINE NOT RUNNING I LOST POWER STEERING AND ALMOST COULDN'T MAKE A TURN. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO CHIMES. LOOKING INTO IT MYSELF I FOUND THAT THE FUEL RELAY 20AMP FUSE WAS MELTED AND THE PLASTIC AROUND THE TERMINAL ALSO MELTED. FORD HAS A TSB OUT FOR THIS ISSUE BUT I FEEL IT SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY PURPOSES AS THERE IS NO WARNING AND YOU LOSE ALL POWER. LITTLE TO NO STEERING OR BRAKES UNTIL YOU COME TO A STOP AND POP THE HOOD OPEN AND WIGGLE THAT FUSE IN HOPES THAT IT WILL MAKE CONTACT AGAIN. THIS MEANS THAT YOU COULD BE LEFT STRANDED OR GET INTO AN ACCIDENT TRYING TO STOP. MANY PEOPLE IN ONLINE FORUMS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ACCORDINGLY.
BACK RIGHT REAR WINDOW OF THE 3 PIECE WINDOW SHATTERED FROM USING THE DEFROST
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE INSPECTING THE BRAKES, HE DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRINGS WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD NOT REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.
REAR BACK UP STOPS WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BACK UP PROCESS
47000 MILES ON TRUCK. BOTH CATALYST CONVERTERS HAVE FAILED WITHIN 1000 MILES DUE TO THE WAY THEY ARE CONSTRUCTED. INTERNALS OF CONVERTERS HAVE TWO ELEMENTS IN WHICH REAR ELEMENT APPEARS TO JUST BE CEMENTED IN AND WILL COME LOOSE INTERNALLY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT CAN ROTATE INSIDE HOUSING AND NOT LET EXHAUST GASES EXHAUST CORRECTLY CAUSING LOSS OF POWER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE AND LATER RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS HIGH RESISTANCE FROM THE WIRE THAT CONNECTED TO FUEL PUMP. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A SIGN OF EXCESSIVE HEAT WHICH CAUSED THE FUSE LOCATION NUMBER 27 TO MELT. THE CONTACT REFERENCED A TSB NUMBER: 15-0137. THE CONTACT CALLED THE PENSKE FORD, LOCATED AT: 8970 LA MESA BLVD, LA MESA, CA 91942, (619)350-8731 AND WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER, HOWEVER, THE NUMBER WAS NOT THE RIGHT NUMBER FOR THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY COULDN'T ROTATE MY TIRES BECAUSE I HAVE SWOLLEN LUGS WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES BETWEEN 2005 AND 2015. I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF MY DASH LIGHTS WENT ON AND MY HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE DARK! IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRUCK STARTED JUMPING AND SHIFTING WEIRD. THE TRACTION WAS MESSING UP. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE SHOP THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE COMPUTER. I WAS IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE OF A COMMON FAULT IN THIS YEAR MODEL. I WILL BE TAKING TO A LAWYER MONDAY. PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE STEERING COLUMN FLEX COUPLING THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REACH OUT TO THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS UNABLE TO REACH A REPRESENTATIVE. A DEALER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,870.
THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES FOR THE DOOR HANDLE. THE RECALL NUMBER IS 11S15. THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BREAKS UNDER NORMAL USE AND DOES NOT SPRING BACK INTO POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE A PROBLEM IN AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER AND FORD SAY MY VIN IS NOT IN THE RECALL, BUT MY TRUCK IS THE SAME YEAR. MY TRUCK WAS STATIONARY. THE REAR DOOR HANDLE BROKE WHERE MY SON SITS IN THE BACK.
THE DAY I WENT TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEN THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT HAS CAUSED THE RADIO NOT TO WORK. THAT THEY WILL FIX IT NEXT DAY. I BASICALLY GOT THE RUN AROUND HAD THERE MECHANIC LOOK AT IT HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I INFORMED THEM THAT THERE IS MORE THEN JUST THE RADIO THE AIR BAG SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK OR SHOW THAT IT WORKS. ALSO POINTED OUT THAT CHUNKS OF METAL WAS FALLING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THIS EVERY TIME I SHUT THE DOOR. STILL NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THEY USED RUSTOLEUM BED LINER TO COVER EVERY INCH UNDER THE TRUCK. IT IS LITERALLY FALLING TO PIECES. 3 WEEKS GO BY AFTER SENDING NUMEROUS EMAILS ON UPDATE WHEN THIS WILL GET FIX AND THEY TELL ME THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THE CO SIGNER LEFT A BAD REVIEW. I HAVE NO WORKING AIR BAGS. AND I'M PAYING 15 THOUSAND FOR THIS TRUCK.
STEERING WHEEL IS WOBBLY ON STEERING COLUMN. WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY CHANGING LANES THE STEERING WHEEL MOVE IN AN UN-EXPECTED WAY. THE STEERING MOVES IN A NORTH, SOUTH AND EAST, WEST DIRECTION IN MOTION WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY PARKED. DRIVING MY 2010 FORD F150 AND IT DOWNSHIFT DRIVING AT AROUND 35 TO 40 ON A CITY STREET. I STOPPED AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF. UPON TURNING IT BACK ON I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND THE WRENCH LIGHT THAT PUT THE TRUCK IN SAFE MODE. ALSO THE MILEAGE WOULD FLASH ---- INSTEAD OF NUMBERS. I TOOK IT TO MIDWEST SUPERSTORE IN HUTCHINSON, KS AND THEY FOUND CODES P0720 & P0722 WHICH LEAD TO THE DIAGNOSIS BEING THE LEAD FRAME NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE LEADFRAME AND VALUE BODY ARE ONE PIECE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACE TOGETHER. I FOUND THAT 2011-2013 FORD F150 HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND A RECALL 19S07 FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INFORMED THEM THAT MY TRUCK IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING AND THEY WILL NOT HELP DUE TO NO RECALL FOR THIS YEAR. CASE NUMBER [XXX]. THE TRUCK WHEN STOPPING HAS WHAT IS CALLED A SLIP BUMP STOP. UPON TAKING OFF IF NOT FULLY STOPPED (LIGHT CHANGES) THE TRUCK DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR TO GO INTO. WHEN IT DOES THIS, THE TRANSMISSION FORCES IT INTO A GEAR. WHEN IT DOES THIS, IT CHIRPS THE TIRES AND SLAMS THE TRANSMISSION HARD ALMOST LIKE A TRANSMISSION MOUNT IS BAD. MOUNTS ARE STILL GOOD. HAD TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED WHICH WAS RECOMMENDED BY MECHANIC AND SAID IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOT. $160 WASTED. IT DOES NOT DO IT ALL THE TIME BUT AFTER THE TRUCK WARMS UP. THE SLIP BUMP STOP WHICH JERKS THE TRUCK FORWARD WHEN STOPPING ONLY HAPPENS WHILE IN GEAR. HOWEVER CAN PUT IN NEUTRAL AND STOP WITH NO PROBLEM. I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE FULL CAUSE IS. EVERY MECHANIC HAS A DIFFERENT OPINION BUT THAT GETS VERY COSTLY. THE SLIP BUMP STOP HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH FORD FOR MANY YEARS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED. I KNOW THIS TRUCK IS USED AND HAS HIGH MILES SO I CAN'T GET IT FIXED BUT IT SHOULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN FOR FORD AS THE TRUCKS LUNGE FORWARD WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP. *TR

FORD'S 5.4L 3 VALVE ENGINES INSTALLED IN THEIR 2004-2010 TRUCKS HAVE, UNFORTUNATELY, ESTABLISHED A REPUTATION FOR PREMATURE FAILURE. OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLE'S REPORT HEARING A TICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE ACCOMPANIED BY A LOSS OF POWER AND OFTEN A "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT. RESEARCH HAS REVEALED THAT THE CAUSE OF THESE ISSUES IS USUALLY ATTRIBUTED TO A FAILURE OF THE CAM PHASERS AND EXCESSIVE OIL CLEARANCE IN THE CAM JOURNALS. MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF MID DRIVE AND HAS HAD ALL ISSUES DESCRIBED ABOVE. IT STARTED WITH THE TICKING NOISE FIRST THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEXT AND THEN MAJOR LOSS OF POWER. THAT WENT ON FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE FIRST TIME IT SHUT OFF MID DRIVE.
LUCKILY I WAS NOT STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT HAVING WORKED FOR FORD THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAS NOW HAPPENED TO BOTH OF MY FORD TRUCKS. FORD MAKES LUG NUTS WITH ALUMINUM CASINGS THAT AFTER 1-5 USES BECOME SWOLLEN AND MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE LUG NUTS FROM VEHICLE ESPECIALLY IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WHICH COULD RESULT IN SOMEONE TAKING MORE TIME THAN NEEDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD STRUGGLING TO BREAK SAID LUG NUTS LOOSE AND WILL RESULT IN SOMEONE BEING STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE.. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR 10 + YEARS. I HAVE SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS REPLACING THESE LUG NUTS. MULTIPLE OF WHICH HAD TO BE CUT OFF BY MECHANICS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!

There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle and continued driving; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics who could not replicate the failure; however, an unknown sensor was replaced. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist since his VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V433000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
SMELLED GASOLINE ODOR INSIDE VEHICLE AFTER CRANKING ON A COLD DAY. I DROVE IT FOR SEVERAL MILES. I PARKED IT. I WAS IN BUILDING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. WHEN I CAME OUT, I SMELLED GAS OUTSIDE VEHICLE. AFTER LEAVING I THEN TOOK VEHICLE TO CROSSROADS FORD QUICKLANE IN CARY NC. THEY FOUND THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE HAD SPLIT LENGHTWISE ON TOP OF FUEL TANK. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS SPRAYING GAS. PART WAS APPARANTLY DEFECTIVE. I AM SURE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR FIRE OR EXPLOSION BECAUSE OF BEING NOT FAR FROM EXHAUST PIPE. PART REPLACED WAS 9L3Z-9S278-B. I AM WONDERING IF THERE HAVE BEEN UNEXPLAINED FIRES OR EXPLOSIONS BECAUSE OF THIS. REPAIR COST WAS $569.89
