MY DRIVER SIDE SEAT HEATER WOULD GET REALLY HOT AND EVENTUALLY JUST QUIT WORKING. I CHECKED THE OBVIOUS CAUSES, (BLOWN FUSES & HEATING ELEMENT CONNECTION) AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. I THEN DECIDED TO LOOK ONLINE AND NOTICED SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. THE CAUSE IN MANY CASES WAS THE SEAT HEATING ELEMENT (FORD PART NUMBER 9L3Z14D696C) HAD BURNT UP CAUSING DAMAGE THE SEAT FOAM AND IN SOME CASES BURNT THE SEAT COVER. I REMOVED MY SEAT TO SEE IF THIS WAS THE SAME ISSUE I WAS HAVING AND DISCOVERED THE SAME ISSUE MANY OTHERS HAD EXPERIENCED (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES.) I ORDERED THE SAME PART 9L3Z14D696C FOR $30 FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND IT'S WORKING AGAIN BUT FOR HOW LONG' I'M SURPRISED THAT FORD HAS NOT ALREADY ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE. THIS DEFINITELY COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE HAD THE SEAT CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING, OR WHILE REMOTE STARTING MY TRUCK (THE SEAT HEATERS WERE SET TO COME ON WHEN THE TRUCK WAS REMOTE STARTED.) THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE IT BECOMES A BIGGER ISSUE IN THE FUTURE.
ENGINE LOSSES POWER AND SHUDDERS BADLY WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO OVER TAKE. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND WHEN DIAGNOSED SAYS MISFIRE NUMBER 4 CYLINDER, CHECKED AND INSTALLED NEW PLUG AND COIL AFTER 50 MILES THE SAME PROBLEM AND DEALER SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIX ISSUE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER COILS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE REPLACEMENT COILS WERE OEM MOTORCRAFT UNITS. IN READING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IT APPEARS THAT THIS POWER UNIT HAS A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED DUE TO THE WINDOW DEFROSTER. THIS SEEMS TO BE COMMON AMONG F150'S WITH A REAR SLIDER WINDOW. THIS HAPPEN ON THE WAY TO WORK ONE MORNING. SPEED 35 MPH ON SMOOTH PAVEMENT . THERE WAS FROST ON THE WINDOW BUT THE LIGHT ON THE DEFROSTER WAS NOT ON. HEARD A LOUD BANG AND DID NOT IMMEDIATELY NOTICE THE BROKEN GLASS UNTIL LATER IN THE DAY WHEN THE SUN DEFROSTED THAT GLASS. NO RESPONSE FROM FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL OR DEPRESSING THE OFF SWITCH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SWITCH THE IGNITION KEY TO THE OFF POSITION TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE A 2011 F-150 FX4. NOTICED THE REAR DEFROST WASN'T COMING ON ALL THE TIME, BUT IT DID COME ON AND IT MUST OF GOTTEN TO HOT...DRIVING TO WORK 11/24/15 GETTING ON THE FREEWAY I HEARD A LOUD NOISE LIKE SOMETHING HIT MY TRUCK ON THE ROOF. WHEN I GOT TO WORK...I LOOKED ON THE ROOF...NO DAMAGE. I NOTICED LATER THAT DAY THAT THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD SHATTERED...IT MUST OF GOTTEN TO HOT FROM THE DEFROSTER. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET...THERE ARE VERY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.
TRUCK HAS LOSS OF POWER WHEN PULLING OUT TO PASS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS NEARLY CAUSING HEAD ON CRASHES.
I WAS PULLING INTO A DRIVE AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, HOWEVER IT TOOK MUCH LONGER TO STOP THE TRUCK. MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER...AT 50K MILES, FORD SHOULD COVER THIS.
ON COLD MORNING (32 DEGREES F), FROST WAS PRESENT ON REAR WINDOW. OPERATOR TURNED ON REAR DEFROST. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING, OPERATOR HEARD A LOUD BANG FROM REAR OF VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THERE WAS A SLIGHT ODOR OF BURNING ELECTRICAL WIRE AND NO SIGNS OF IMPACT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STATE HIGHWAY, AND SIGNALED FOR A RIGHT TURN. AS I SLOWED AND BEGAN MY TURN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM QUIT AND BECAUSE OF THE INCREASED TURNING EFFORT I WOUND UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD ONTO WHICH I WAS TURNING. A WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASH THAT I HAD A POWER STEERING FAILURE. I MUSCLED THE TRUCK OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED IT. THE POWER STEERING WORKED FOR ABOUT 1-200 FEET, THEN FAILED AGAIN. FORTUNATELY, THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES HEADING IN MY DIRECTION WHEN I WENT INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE. I WAS ABLE TO "MUSCLE" THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP SAFELY. I GOT THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NEED A NEW ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST UNIT AT A COST OF $1,600+. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. WHAT IF AN INEXPERIENCE DRIVER HAD BEEN DRIVING OR SOMEONE WITHOUT MY SIZE OR STRENGTH?
I HAVE SEEN MANY POSTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH FELLOW 2011 FORD F-150 OWNERS. MY TRUCK ALSO LOCKED UP ON ME DRIVING ON A CITY STREET DURING LUNCH HOUR AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (UNDER WARRANTY) THEY ADVISED AFTER DIAGNOSTICS THAT THE ELECTRONIC RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. AFTER HEARING A RIDICULOUS PRICE OF $1800.00 (PART AND LABOR) I ASKED WHY WAS IT NOT COVERED UNDER DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY IN WHICH THEY ADVISED IT WAS "ELECTRICAL." FORD NEEDS TO ASSIST ALL FORD F-150 OWNERS ON THIS MATTER IF THEY DON'T WANT A HUGE LAWSUIT IF, GOD FORBID, ANYONE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT.
2011 FORD F150 ECOBOOST WITH 23,000 MILES: WHILE TRAVELLING AT SPEEDS 45 MPH AND GREATER, THE STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER OR CORRECT DURING AT SPEED TURNS, (IE. DRIVING ON TWISTING HIGHWAYS). THE LOCAL FORD DEALER INSPECTED THE PROBLEM AND STATED THAT THE EPAS SYSTEM NEEDED REPLACING AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE AND TO NOT DRIVE IT. THE ESTIMATE CALLED FOR A $1160 STEERING GEAR PART, AND $80 "ADJUST TOE IN" AND LABOR FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $1370!! AFTER READING SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, AND RECALLS PRESENT FOR DIFFERENT MODEL YEARS, IT IS CONCERNING THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE FOR THE 2011'S AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLANT SYSTEM WAS NOT SEPARATING THE SLUDGE CAUSING THE SLUDGE TO PENETRATE THE ENGINE AND ACTIVATING THE VEHICLE LIMP MODE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD INSTALL AN OIL SEPARATION DEVICE TO THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,263.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE GAUGES IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE. THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR BEGAN TO CHANGE RAPIDLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL ODOR AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,700.
DRIVING STRAIGHT ON HIGHWAY WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND, BACK GLASS SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED WITH NO WARNING AND NOTHING TOUCHING IT. SUSPECT AN ALREADY FAULTY REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER HEATING ELEMENT ON POWER SLIDING REAR PICK-UP TRUCK WINDOW IS AT PARTIAL FAULT. SMELLED OF BURNING ELECTRICAL IN CABIN JUST PRIOR TO BREAKAGE. POOR WINDOW QUALITY AND HEATING ELEMENT AT FURTHER FAULT. ALSO FEEL LIKE I HAD TINY GLASS PARTICLES ALL OVER ME AS WELL.
I HAVE A 2011 FORD F-150 4X2 PLATINUM 4 DOOR PICK, EQUIPPED WITH A 5.0 LITRE V-8ENGINE, WHICH HAD 51881 MILES WHEN MY PROBLEM OCCURRED. WE WERE IN CAMERON, ARIZONA, ON OUR WAY TO THE EAST RIM OF THE GRAND CANYON. TURNED OFF THE TRUCK, USED THEIR FACILITIES, WENT BACK TO TRUCK, IT CRANKED, BUT WOULD NOT START, EVEN AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS. LET SET FOR ONE HOUR, STILL WOULD NOT START. CALLED TOW TRUCK, WHICH HAD TO COME FROM FLAGSTAFF. DROPPED OFF AT FORD DEALER, AS IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MORNING, EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD ALONG LIST OF VEHICLES TO WORK ON. I THEN TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE, IT DID START, PICKED MY WIFE AND BELONGINGS FROM THE HOTEL, AND DROVE, NON-STOP TO EL CENTRO (350 MILES). TOOK TO DEALER. IT STARTED AGAIN FOR THEM. GO FIGURE! LATER THAT AFTERNOON, IT WOULD NOT START FOR THEM. THEY THEN CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY, WHO TOLD THEM WHAT TO LOOK FOR, TSB 15-0137. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A TEMPORARY REPAIR, AND THAT THEY WOULD ORDER A NEW FUSE BLOCK, AS FUSE NUMBER 27 HAD MELTED THE CONNECTIONS IN THE BOX, THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE A PROPER CONNECTION. THE GENERAL MANAGER TOLD ME ABOUT A PERSONAL FRIEND OF HIS WHO HAD THIS HAPPEN TO HIS ALMOST NEW TRUCK, AND HE GOT RID OF THE TRUCK. I CANNOT AFFORD TO DO THAT. IT HAS BEEN SINCE NOVEMBER 9, 2015 WHEN THIS OCCURRED, AND NOW THE AGENCY, EL CENTRO MOTORS 1520 FORD DRIVE EL CENTRO, CA. 92243 (760) 336-2100 IS TELLING ME THAT REPAIR TSB 15-0137 IS A PERMANENT REPAIR, AND THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT REPLACE THE FUSE BLOCK AND HAS NO IMPROVEMENT FUSE BLOCK AVAILABLE, AND THAT THE FUSE BLOCKS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, AS THERE IS A 120 DAY WAITING PERIOD TO OBTAIN THEM.
NO BRAKES WHEN FIRST STARTED UP. I HAD TO THROW IT IN PARK TO KEEP FROM RUNNING OVER HILL. AFTER SEARCHING ON LINE I FIND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ECOBOOST TRUCKS. FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE AND PUT THE UPDATED PART ON.
DURING A FROST RECENTLY I FOUND THAT THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER OF MY TRUCK IS NOT WORKING. IT WORKED ALL LAST YEAR BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME USE FOR THIS YEAR.
WHEN I DRIVE MY POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT AS I'M TURNING IT WILL BE FINE ONE MIN AND THE NEXT MIN I'M IN THE GRASS TRYING NOT TO DIE
WHILE ACCELERATING ON TO THE HIGHWAY ON A CLEAR, WARM, SUNNY DAY; THE TURBO ENGAGED AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUDDER. THERE WAS IMMEDIATE DECELERATION AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH. AFTER EASING UP ON THE THROTTLE AND COASTING, THE LIGHT TURNED OFF AND THE TRUCK BEGAN OPERATING NORMALLY. THIS OCCURRED WITHIN 1-MILE OF TRAVEL. I WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE ON THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE DROPS DRAMATICALLY IN A SHORT DISTANCE AND THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO RECOVER RAPIDLY, LEAVING THE VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS SUSCEPTIBLE TO POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENTS ON THE ROADWAY.
THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN BACKING UP FROM A PARKING SPACE AT A LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. TRUCK CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS WHILE STEPPING ON THE BRAKES. HAD BEEN AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WITH NO ABILITY TO PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN CAR IS STARTED UP AND PUT IN REVERSE.LATER THAT DAY BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION MADE A STRANGE NOISE AND THE VEHICLE JERKED. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SWITCH FROM REVERSE TO FORWARD, THE FRONT TIRES SPUN AND THE REAR TIRES SEEMED TO BE LOCKED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SWITCH GEARS. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. ...UPDATED 12/14/16 *BF UPDATED 12/20/16.*JB
UNDER ACCELERATION OR TRYING TO PASS A VEHICLE LOSS OF POWER HAS BEEN OCCURING. TRYING TO ACCELERATE INTO INTERSTATE FROM ON RAMP HAVE HAD POWER LOSS AND VEHICLE LOSES ALL ACCELERATION.
AT SPEED WHEN TURNING LEFT THE STEERING STICKS, AND DOES NOT RETURN TO CENTER WHEN YOU LET GO OF THE WHEEL. MOST NOTICEABLE ON HIGHWAY IN A LEFT HAND TURN.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY NINE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,296. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. ECO BOOST ENGINE. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WHEN RAPIDLY PULLING AWAY FROM A TOLL BOOTH AFTER SEVERAL HOUR OF CONTINUOUS INTERSTATE DRIVING IN THE RAIN (OCCURRED 10/2013 AND 10/2015). PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WHEN TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE ON A 2 LANE ROAD UNDER THE SAME TYPE OF RAINY CONDITIONS (OCCURRED 10/2015). ENGINE WILL SHUDDER AND GO INTO LIMP MODE. TRUCK WAS TAKEN 2 YEARS AGO TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR OF THIS PROBLEM. TWO EVENTS OCCURRED THIS PAST WEEK UNDER RAINY CONDITIONS. TRUCK IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND STILL NOT FIXED.
ON OCTOBER 26 WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK I WAS ON LOOP 250 WHICH IS 60 MPH. GOT ON THE LOOP WAS APPROACHING AN OVER PASS WHEN SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS IT STARTS JERKING, A PULLING, SHAKING. TOOK FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL LOOKED AT DASH NO WARNING LIGHTS ON BUT THE SPEEDOMETER AND GEARS ON DASH WERE GOING CRAZY GOING UP AND DOWN. SLOWING DOWN APPLYING THE BRAKE SLOWLY CAUSE LOTS OF TRAFFIC BEHIND AND I FRONT OF ME. I WAS SHAKING AND VERY UPSET FINALLY PULLED OVER AND TURNED TRUCK OFF CALLED MY HUSBAND I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE ASKED IF THE TRUCK TURNED ON IT DID I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP GOING VERY SLOW. MY HUSBAND MET ME THERE AND I TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. I WAS VERY SHAKEN UP ALMOST IN TEARS. THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE IM LIKE WHAT IF THE TRUCK WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ONE OF THOSE GEARS WHEN IT WAS GOING UP AND DOWN FROM 1-6 OR REVERSE I WOULD HAVE FLIPPED THAT TRUCK. PLEASE PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ELSE AND IS HURT OR KILLED. IT IS NOV 1 AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT EVEN DIAGNOSED MY VEHICLE. I WANT IT FIXED CORRECTLY BUT 1 WEEK AND NOT EVEN LOOKED AT YET. THAT IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND IT'S BEEN VERY INCONVENIENT GETTING TO WORK.
ON OCTOBER 26 AT AROUND 1230 PM I WAS GOING THE SPEED LIMIT 60 MPH. ON LOOP 250.ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRUCK STARTS JERKING REALLY HARD. I LET GO OF THE GAS AND LOOKED AT THE DASH THE SPEEDOMETER AND GEARS WERE GOING CRAZY UP AND DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFE CAUSE IT WAS LUNCH HOUR LOTS OF TRAFFIC. TURNED TRUCK OFF WAS SHAKING, SCARED AND VERY UPSET. CALLED MY HUSBAND TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED ASKED IF I WAS OK I SAID YES BESIDES VERY SHAKEN UP. HE SAID IT MIGHT BE THE TRANSMISSION OR TCM . STARTED THE TRUCK WENT SLOW TO DEALERSHIP. THIS WAS VERY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE I'M THINKING WHAT IF THE GEARS WOULD'VE GOTTEN STUCK OR REVERSE AND I WOULD'VE ROLLED. REFERENCE 2011 FORD F-150 ECOBOOST: WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 30MPH FOR HEAVY TRAFFIC. WHEN I BEGAN TO INCREASE SPEED TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. STARTED TO PULL TOWARD THE RIGHT SHOULDER FROM FAR LEFT LANE, WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED COMPLETELY AND HAD TO ROLL WITHOUT POWER TO THE SHOULDER. THE TRUCK/ENGINE CONTINUED TO LIMP TO THE DEALER. THIS IS THE 8-9TH TIME I'VE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AND THE TRUCK HAS LEFT ME AND MY KIDS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE INTERSTATE. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE DEALER HIT ME WITH THE $100 DIAGNOSTIC FEE EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK IS UNDER WARRANTY. ALL TSB'S HAVE BEEN DONE AND NOTHING HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM AND ACTUALLY HAS MADE MATTERS WORSE BY THE DEALER "REFLASHING" THE TRUCK AND KILLING THE AVG. MPG. IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT THE ISSUE IS WITH THE INTERCOOLER AND WILL HAVE FUTURE MAJOR EFFECTS ON THE CAT CONVERTER AND TURBOS AS WELL AS CARBON ISSUES IN THE REAR CYLINDERS. THE TRUCK IS IN THE SHOP AT THIS MOMENT AND I AM AWAITING THE DEALERS CALL. FORD HAS DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THIS UNSAFE PROBLEM, THAT PUTS MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS AT RISK. BTW, I HAVE REPLACED THE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS 4 TIMES SINCE THE PROBLEM STARTED AT ABOUT THE 34-36K MILE MARK.

ON MORNING START UP IN MY DRIVEWAY THE BRAKES MADE A CRUNCHING SOUND W/ A STIFF BRAKE PEDAL AND WOULD STILL ROLL FORWARD WHILE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE ENGINE IN IDLE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP AND HARNESS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY LESS $100 DEDUCTIBLE. BRAKES WORK OK NOW BUT CONCERNED IF WILL FAIL SAME LATER AFTER WARRANTY. VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN THE YARD. THE AUTO START WAS USED THE NEXT MORNING TO WARM UP THE VEHICLE AND DEFROST THE WINDOWS (OUTSIDE TEMP WAS +25F). THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER LITE QUIT WORKING ABOUT A MONTH AGO. IT CAME ON TODAY AND WITHIN 5 MINUTES, THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW CRACKED. I HAD JUST MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY WITH NO ONE OR THING AROUND ME.

I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS CASES ONLINE OF PEOPLE THAT THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO, EVEN SOME WHO HAVE ACTUALLY GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE SAME ELECTRONIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING FAILURE.

THIS WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY WITH A $100 DEDUCTIBLE AND 6 DAYS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED, AGAIN WHILE HAULING HORSE TRAILER ON INTERSTATE, SAME ISSUES WITH LOOSING POWER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING AND TRUCK SHUDDERED. AGAIN WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO MAKE IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, THIS TIME #6 COIL WAS DIAGNOSED AS BEING BAD. THIS WAS CHANGED UNDER WARRANTY WITH ANOTHER PAYMENT OF $100 DEDUCTIBLE. BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE HAULING MY HORSES, AND I HAD ANOTHER 400 MILES TO GO BEFORE REACHING MY FINAL DESTINATION, I COULD NOT TAKE THE RISK OF THIS HAPPENING AND LOOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATES WITH 18 WHEEL VEHICLES AT 60 MPH AND FIGURE I MIGHT GET LUCKY A THIRD TIME AND NOT BE KILLED BECAUSE AN 18 WHEELER COULDN'T STOP OR AVOID HITTING ME WHEN LOOSING POWER FROM 60 MPH TO 30 MPH, I CHOSE TO HAVE THE OTHER 4 COILS REPLACED. AFTER GETTING HOME I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SEE THIS IS UNDER INVESTIGATION WITH NHTSA AND WANTED TO REPORT THE SAME ISSUE. THE OTHER 4 COILS I HAD REPLACED WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW I FIND OUT THAT POSSIBLY THAT WASN'T THE ISSUE BUT MOST LIKELY MOISTURE ACCUMULATION IN INTERCOOLER SYSTEM OF TRUCK. I'M CONCERNED I DON'T HAVE A TRUCK THAT CAN BE DEPENDED UPON TO KEEP ME AND MY ANIMALS THAT ARE BEING TRANSPORTED IN HORSE TRAILER SAFE.

ACCELERATED TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY. TRUCK SUDDENLY LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND BEGAN TO SHAKE. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DECELERATION WAS AS SUDDEN AS IF I HAD SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES. COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED OF THE TRUCK. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF ME SHAKING, I RESTARTED THE TRUCK. ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON, BUT TRUCK DROVE NORMALLY AS LONG AS I "CREPT" UP TO SPEED.
VACUUM ASSIST PUMP WENT FAILED WITH NO WARNING. LUCKILY IT HAPPENED AT A REPAIR SHOP, BUT THE FAIL WAS SUDDEN AND COMPLETE. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE ROAD EITHER AT LOW OR HIGH SPEED, IT COULD EASILY RESULTED IN LOSS OF LIFE. THE FAIL WAS COMPLETE RESULTING IN NO WAY TO STOP THE TRUCK AT ALL.
AT 68,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE TRUCK GOES FROM 6TH GEAR TO 2ND CAUSE THE TRUCK TO SHUTTER AND JERK AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND LOSS OF CONTROL IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE RPM'S SPIKE TO 7000 AS THE TRUCK TRIES TO GET BACK INTO GEAR. I ALSO EXPERIENCED GOING FROM 1ST GEAR TO 5TH GEAR WHILE STARTING OUT LEAVING ME STUCK OUT IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT DOESNT HAVE THE RPM'S TO GET INTO 5TH GEAR. AFTER THE 1ST EXPERIENCE OF THIS HAPPENING I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE WEST HERR FORD DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULDNT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. OVER HE NEXT MONTH THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES THIS TIME WITH THE KIDS IN THE TRUCK SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER HOWEVER THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO CAPTURE A VIDEO OF MY INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN IT WENT FROM 6 TO 2. THE DEALER AGREED THERE WAS A PROBLEM BUT COULDNT DUPLICATE IT SO NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER WHO SENT MY VIDEO TO THE FACTORY. THE FACTORY INDICATED THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THE PROBLEM. THERE RECOMMENDATION WAS TO GO PART BY PART AND NO GUARANTEE OF THE PROBLEM BEING FIXED. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY INDICATED THAT THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2011 FORD TRANSMISSIONS. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AS A RESULT OF THE DROPPING GEARS. THE SOLENOID IN THE VALVE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO HAVE GEARS JUMP. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCK BACK I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. AS IT TURNS OUT THE REPLACEMENT SOLENOID FROM FORD WAS FAULTY REQUIRING IT TO BE REPLACED.
